  3. Infamous Hollywood bigwig Harvey Weinstein following his conviction of numerous sex crimes is now hit with another sexual assault lawsuit. A woman has stepped forth to claim the disgraced producer had sexually assaulted her at film festivals in Canada and France. The accuser filed the Manhattan federal lawsuit under the pseudonym of Jane Doe and claimed Weinstein had approached her when she was 22 at the Cannes Film Festival back in 2007. She detailed how the infamous tycoon had set up a meeting with her at his Majestic Hotel suite to discuss her career with his assistant. The suit further reveals that while the meeting initially began as a discussion on her career with all three of them present, Weinstein’s assistant soon left the room after which the producer began to sexually assault her. The suit claims: “Weinstein … clutched Plaintiff and tried to force her into massaging him. When Plaintiff refused to massage him, Weinstein continued to grope Plaintiff and tried to take off her clothes.” It was further stated that the Plaintiff escaped the room before he could rape her but on later occasions, agreed to meet him twice during the festival. During their third meeting, the suit claims she was raped by Weinstein following a soiree that included the likes of a number Hollywood stars. “After Plaintiff and Weinstein met with various people in their hotel suites, Weinstein brought Plaintiff back to his hotel suite. Weinstein then used his considerable size and strength advantage to pin Plaintiff down and rape her,” says the suite. She alleges that Weinstein raped her numerous other times as well ove r the course of nine years including once in 2014 at the Toronto Film Festival. Upon her refusal to meet him for ‘being in a relationship,’ Weinstein assured that he ‘wouldn’t do anything’ after which she agreed to the meeting. Jane Doe is in pursuit of a jury trial with damages not specified.
  4. Every crisis brings an opportunity. One glance at social media will be a revelation as to what it is. Many have given life to the dormant culinary expertise vein in their right brain and have become explorers in their kitchens. So, if cycling tracks in the tricity are crowded, then so are the grocery shops catering to many fancy orders from home chefs. From Indian to continental, Asian to American, it is a tempting spread. The ‘Palates Story’ by NatashakaranNanda on Instagram has eye-catching delights. “I have always had a passion for cooking. During the lockdown, my family’s constant demand for more variety motivated me to document my cooking experiments in the kitchen, which is how to make home cooked meals look exotic and taste amazing. That’s how the idea of the Palate Story by Natasha Nanda happened.” She creates appetizers that are a blend of modern and traditional tastes and the main course ranges from all parts of India and ends up in the middle of Africa, where the traditional dish Bunny Chow has become an integral part of her menu. The pandemic has inspired many to explore their inherent talents, passions and interests, which they may have otherwise accepted as routine. Pallavi Sachdeva, the chef behind the ‘Flambe’ label has a similar story to share. “A couple of weeks into the lockdown, I found myself seeking solace in my kitchen, trying new recipes and recreating old favourites. I would find joy in setting up a mini feast for my family. Compliments from friends, virtual ones, encouragement from family inspired me to develop my own brand of recipes and luxury home dining spaces. I was determined to use only the best ingredients and offer dishes I would want those in my own home to enjoy. All dishes are created from scratch in small batches, using fresh and seasonal produce. Most dishes have a fusion element that will satisfy Indian taste buds. Safety and hygiene are paramount, as we follow every norm in the book, and offer delivery through our family staff, with a special area for takeaways. We believe that delicious food deserves to be served in a beautiful setting which is why we also offer concepts for table-scaping schemes, ” shares Sachdeva Simple, innovative, healthy, practical recipes shared by passionate cooks have flooded the internet. The recipe of banana bread shared by a German chef on a Facebook group has got many into the baking mode, and this time has made us discover the simple joys of cooking, baking and filling our lives with many tasteful experiences. Another star in the making is 20-year-old Ishana Passi, an undergraduate in London, who is using her time home in Chandigarh to create a label, ‘spoonfulstoriesbyIshanaPassi’. Growing up in Chandigarh and being surrounded by Punjabi culture has made her passionate about food. Passi’s time in the kitchen has always proved to be therapeutic and exhilarating. “I have started Spoonful Stories as a personal blog to share my sweet and savory recipes, celebrate life around the joy of cooking and eating together. The kitchen is your space to be creative and productive and for me Spoonful Stories is a tool to help you enjoy the process of cooking and reconnect with your loved ones over good food . If you can bond over dinner table at the restaurant, why not have the same family time in your kitchen while cooking and eating together?” Passi says cooking doesn’t have to be complex and that’s precisely why all her recipes are simple and conversation starters. My aim is to get people to cook at home and enjoy the benefits and feel the joy. I will be publishing my recipe book soon next year and I am planning to starting online cooking classes for all age groups.”

  6. When it comes to pricing, history has thought us that vehicles typically get more expensive with the model year switch. These price bumps are partially justified as automakers throw in more standard equipment, although that’s not always the case. When Ford introduced the latest-generation Explorer last year, the base model came with a $400 increase over its predecessor. Fast forward to the 2021MY, Ford Authority has some good news to share. Entering its second model year, the midsize SUV is receiving a significant price cut regardless of the trim level you’re interested in. Case in point, the entry-level model is now $540 cheaper than before, so it starts from $32,225 in rear-wheel-drive form and $34,225 if you want the all-paw model. It’s the smallest of the price cuts Ford has prepared for the 2021MY. At the other end of the spectrum, the biggest price reduction is for the flagship Platinum AWD model as Ford has shaved off a whopping $3,770, meaning that it now starts at $54,480. The Blue Oval is also making the Limited trim in both RWD and AWD flavors more attractive by erasing $3,670 from the asking price. Fancy the Explorer ST? It’s now $2,135 cheaper than before and starts at $52,605. On average, the Explorer is about $2,572 more attainable than the 2020MY. Ford is also reducing the asking price for the Equipment Group 202A by $600 to $3,540. If you’re wondering what sort of goodies this extra kit gets you, it adds LED fog lamps, remote start system, eight-way adjustable passenger seat, and the ActiveX seating material. As previously reported, the 2021 Explorer is going through additional changes. The XLT trim is gaining a Sport Appearance Package while the ST will receive a few tweaks inside the cabin. Ford will widen the color palette and might introduce an off-road-oriented derivative. The model year switch will come into effect on September 21 when production of the revised SUV is scheduled to start at Ford’s plant in Chicago where it’s built alongside the fancier Lincoln Aviator. While sales of the sixth-generation model were somewhat slow in the beginning, the revamped Explorer has lately been gaining traction among SUV buyers. In the first six months of the year, Ford sold 101,149 units in the United States or approximately 14 percent more than in the January – June 2019 interval.
  7. AYODHYA, India: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed “golden history” was written Wednesday as he launched construction of a new Hindu temple at a flashpoint religious site that has sparked some of the country’s bloodiest sectarian violence. The colourful ceremony in Ayodhya, with Modi surrounded by saffron-clad priests, came on the first anniversary of the removal of the special status enjoyed by divided Kashmir, India’s onlyMuslim-majority region. His critics see him as remoulding the officially secular country of 1.3 billion as a Hindu nation at the expense of India’s 200 million Muslims, and taking it in an authoritarian direction. In 1992, a Hindu mob destroyed the centuries-old mosque there that they believed had been built on the birthplace of Ram, an important deity, killing 2,000 Muslims in the riots that followed. A lengthy legal battle ensued, but in November 2019, India’s top court awarded the site to Hindus, allowing a temple “touching the sky” to be built on top of the ruined mosque. Modi, 69, sharing a stage with the head of the RSS militaristic hardline Hindu group, compared the building of the temple to India’s struggle for independence from Britain. The BJP had long seen the special status enjoyed by the part of Kashmir controlled by India as a historical wrong, and on August 5 last year, Modi abolished it. An accompanying security operation turned the region into a fortress for weeks, with all telecommunications cut and thousands taken into custody. Even now, India has “maintained stifling restraints on Kashmiris in violation of their basic rights”, according to Human Rights Watch. People from outside Kashmir are now allowed to buy land for the first time, igniting fears Modi wants to change the region’s demographic makeup with an Israel-style “settler” project. Fearing protests ahead of the anniversary, thousands of Indian troops imposed a tight curfew in Kashmir and the streets were largely deserted.

  9. Most people have been using this time to get creatively busy at home. Not only are they spending time with themselves, but are also understanding their creative callings better. While some are discovering their inner cook, others are learning how to bake. And some others are now taking out time for their skincare, hair care, fitness, etc. If you are one of them, and are looking for a new creative activity to make better use of your time, here are some interesting and fun ways with which you can use a simple flower pot. * Use the pot as a candle holder. It doesn’t need to be grand and elaborate, just use small flower pots as containers within which you can keep small, scented candles. And if you feel like it, you can even paint the outside of the pot to make it look more appealing. Place these pots in the nicest corner of your house. Ceramics like stoneware and porcelain are considered to be microwave-friendly, and as such, you can use them to bake tiny cakes. Once ready, you can even serve the cakes in these pots, especially when you have a guest at home. * You can also place empty flower pots in the home garden, for birds to come and feed. Additionally, you can reserve one such pot exclusively for their food and water. And once again, you can paint the pot and make it look attractive. You can even call it your very own ‘bird pot’. * This one will certainly be an obvious option, but yes, you can make a pencil/pen holder out of a little flower pot. And if it is slightly bigger, you can even add some more things like paint brushes, sketch pens, and other stationary items. If you have a fish tank at home, use it to give your fish a new place to explore. You can simply make the addition to the aquarium in a way that it looks appealing, and is fun for the fish, too. Make some holes on the walls for fish to move in and out of. * Clean it thoroughly and use it in the kitchen as a cutlery stand/holder, or as a container to place food and water in. * And finally, if you want to gift something to a friend or a relative, you can use the flower pots to plant some succulents. This DIY gift item can then be thoughtfully gifted to a loved one for any occasion — weddings, birthdays, etc. Can you think of some more interesting uses for flower pots? Let us know.
  10. Meghan Markle long before meeting Prince Harry had once criticized the massive royal wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William. The Duchess of Sussex had claimed the world’s obsession with Kate and her royal life set a bad example for young girls who grow up with the wrong idea about what they need to search for in life. Back in 2014, long before Meghan had met Prince Harry or had any connection to the royals whatsoever, she had criticized the enormity of the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate. In her lifestyle blog, The Tig, Meghan had written: “Little girls dream of being princesses. I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power. For those of you unfamiliar with the ’80s cartoon reference, She-Ra is the twin sister of He-Man, and a sword-wielding royal rebel known for her strength.” “We’re definitely not talking about Cinderella here. Grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate,” she added. Little did Meghan know back then that she herself would also be tangled in the same royal mess only a few years after.

  12. With the Mercedes lineup being so vast, there always seems to be a facelift or a next-generation model around the corner. It’s been more than two years since the C-Class (W205) got the typical mid-cycle updates, which means work is well underway at the completely revamped model expected to debut sometime in 2021. Our spies have now caught a version that might not be available from day one as we’ve been told this is an AMG flavor. The wider tracks at both axles corroborated with the chunky brakes at the front could be signs of an AMG C53 variant bound to replace today’s C43 model. While the dual exhaust tips might suggest it’s a lower-spec trim, the prototype appeared to have a provisional setup with fairly large tips. The extra camouflage on the trunk lid could be there to hide a subtle spoiler as seen on the current C43 sedan and coupe models. It goes without saying the mismatched wheels won’t be found on the production-spec model, and we can say the same thing about those basic taillights. You can tell the rear lights extend onto the trunk lid like on many other recent Mercedes sedans as those reverse lights flanking the license plate are fully exposed. While this particular prototype seems to be lacking the Panamericana grille (or it hides it very well), the final variant of the C53 is expected to feature the menacing front grille with multiple vertical slats inherited from nearly all of the other AMG models. Even the A45 has adopted this look, so it’s safe to say the larger and more expensive C53 will adopt the Panamericana grille. Speaking of the A45, it will reportedly share its turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine to replace the C43’s twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6. Affalterbach’s skilled engineers are expected to throw some electrification into the mix to compensate for the downsized powertrain. A minor bump in horsepower and torque over the existing 385 hp and 384 lb-ft (521 Nm) is expected despite the smaller engine. The wraps should come off towards the end of 2021 considering the standard C-Class (W206) is expected in the first half of next year. As for the range-topping C63, that one too is rumored to downsize to an electrified four-banger and is likely due to arrive in 2022. It will be interesting to see if the next-generation C-Class in AMG spec will be blessed with the recently announced electric turbocharger co-developed with Garrett Motion to effectively eliminate turbo lag.
  13. You’re probably spending a lot of time surrounded by household objects right now, so get to know them better with Amy Azzarito’s book ‘The Elements of a Home’. Lindsey M Roberts spoke to the author to uncover the exciting lineage of our most mundane homeware any of us have recently had to contemplate the temporary loss of toilet paper (which has only been on a cardboard roll as we know it since 1890, according to Charmin), so now is a good moment to count our blessings and appreciate anew what we have previously taken for granted. Fortuitously timed for those of us suddenly spending a lot of time at home is design historian Amy Azzarito’s new book, The Elements of a Home, which has fascinating histories of all sorts of household goods: bathtubs, duvets, fireplaces, pillows, spoons and more. Azzarito used to write about the history of objects for the po[CENSORED]r blog Design Sponge. “This is what we were trained to do,” she says, “look closely at an object, an artefact, and zoom out from there and see what it tells us about society and culture.” She has a master’s in library science and used those skills to page through about 500 books for her research. Following the trail is one of the most enjoyable parts for me,” she says. “Sitting at my desk with 30 books open, trying to find every reference I can to plates.” I talked with Azzarito about the history behind some of her favourite household objects. The clock Before timekeepers were so widely available, clock-less factory workers paid “knocker-uppers” a penny a month to knock on their windows in the morning. “Our lives are definitely easier without having to hire someone to knock on your window,” Azzarito says. The history of clocks, of course, starts with ancient sundials, then moves to the first mechanical clock in the year 723. Later, in the 14th century, each town or city had a large public clock that chimed to keep people on schedule. When clocks finally became something of an attainable luxury, Napoleon made sure he had 36 in his chateau – though not nearly enough for its 1,500 rooms. The fork When researching, “the fork was certainly one of my favourites,” Azzarito says. “This thing that we interact with every single day of our lives was once deemed immoral and unhygienic.” It didn’t help that the early two- or three-pronged fork looked so much like a devil’s pitchfork.
  14. New Delhi in fear of protests has imposed a curfew across Indian occupied Kashmir just two days ahead of the first anniversary of India's move to abolish the disputed valley's semi-autonomy, officials said late Monday, citing intelligence reports. "These restrictions shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force on 4th and 5th August," stated the government order issued for the main city of Srinagar. "Full curfew will be enforced in all Kashmir districts," a senior police officer, who asked to remain anonymous, told AFP. A "full curfew" means people can only move around with an official pass, usually reserved for essential services like police and medical professionals. The Himalayan region is already subject to restrictions to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus amid a jump in infections, with most economic activities limited and public movement curtailed. The order said the separate virus lockdown would be extended until August 8. Police vehicles fitted with megaphones patrolled Srinagar after dark, with officers ordering residents to remain indoors for the next two days. Increased security Authorities have been tightening restrictions across the Kashmir valley since the weekend of August 1. Early Monday morning, new razor-wire and steel barricades were used to block the city's main roads. Residents in other major towns and many villages told AFP that police also ordered them not to venture out of their homes until Thursday. The curfew is similar to the one introduced just before Kashmir's semi-autonomy was stripped on August 5. A total communications blackout was imposed, with phone and internet lines cut and tens of thousands of fresh troops moved into the valley in one of the world's most militarised regions. "Police went around in jeeps ordering everyone not to leave their homes just like this time last year," a resident in the southern Kashmir valley region of Kulgam, who asked to remain anonymous, told AFP. The curfew came as Kashmiris called for August 5 to be observed as a "black day". Anger across Muslim-majority Kashmir against India's Hindu-nationalist government has been growing since last year, particularly over the granting of rights — once reserved for Kashmiris — to tens of thousands of people from outside of the region to buy land.

Usually styled by Devki Bhatt, the Manmarziyaan actor looks lovely in them and never shies away from treading the path less known. Don’t take our word for it. Instead, check it out yourself. For the screening of her movie Thappad, the actor had stepped out in a pink knotted blouse. This was styled with a lovely white sari from Kanelle. The interesting bit is that she had earlier worn the knotted blouse as a crop top and teamed it with a pair of jeans. In another instance, she was seen in an Abhinav Mishra ensemble which was styled with a halter neck top. 21. Even though Charlize Theron has been very open about her blatant dislike towards the idea of going into a relationship at the moment, it seems her daughter cannot wait for her mother to change her mind. During an interview for the InCharge podcast, Charlize spoke to Diane von Furstenberg and touched upon a teachable moment she shared with her daughter. Charlize was quoted saying, "It's also important to remind women that the most important relationship in life is the one we have with ourselves. Once you have that, any other relationship is a plus, but it's not a must." The actress went onto say, "It's so funny that you just said that because two days ago I was in the car with my two girls and my little one said something like, 'You need a boyfriend!' And I said, 'Actually, I don't. Right now, I feel really good,' and she's like, 'But, you know what, Mom? I just like, you need a boyfriend, you need like a relationship.' And I was like, 'I am in a relationship. I'm in a relationship with myself right now.'" Describing the 5-year-old’s reaction to her decision, Charlize went on to say, "She had this look on her eye like she had never really contemplated that that was even a possibility and I said, 'That is a really important thing for you guys to know.'"
