  5. Taapsee Pannu is one of the few female actors who experimented with saris long before it was in vogue. Usually styled by Devki Bhatt, the Manmarziyaan actor looks lovely in them and never shies away from treading the path less known. Don’t take our word for it. Instead, check it out yourself. For the screening of her movie Thappad, the actor had stepped out in a pink knotted blouse. This was styled with a lovely white sari from Kanelle. The interesting bit is that she had earlier worn the knotted blouse as a crop top and teamed it with a pair of jeans. In another instance, she was seen in an Abhinav Mishra ensemble which was styled with a halter neck top. We really liked the quirky hairdo the look was completed with. Taapsee Pannu is one of the few female actors who experimented with saris long before it was in vogue. She was also seen looking stunning in this sari which was teamed with a top that could also work as a standalone crop top. Her curls worked perfectly with the look. She can also do quirky, and do it very well. Case in point: this interesting sari from the label Aapro. This pre-draped sari was teamed with a shirt and accessorised with a waist belt.
  6. Even though Charlize Theron has been very open about her blatant dislike towards the idea of going into a relationship at the moment, it seems her daughter cannot wait for her mother to change her mind. During an interview for the InCharge podcast, Charlize spoke to Diane von Furstenberg and touched upon a teachable moment she shared with her daughter. Charlize was quoted saying, "It's also important to remind women that the most important relationship in life is the one we have with ourselves. Once you have that, any other relationship is a plus, but it's not a must." The actress went onto say, "It's so funny that you just said that because two days ago I was in the car with my two girls and my little one said something like, 'You need a boyfriend!' And I said, 'Actually, I don't. Right now, I feel really good,' and she's like, 'But, you know what, Mom? I just like, you need a boyfriend, you need like a relationship.' And I was like, 'I am in a relationship. I'm in a relationship with myself right now.'" Describing the 5-year-old’s reaction to her decision, Charlize went on to say, "She had this look on her eye like she had never really contemplated that that was even a possibility and I said, 'That is a really important thing for you guys to know.'"

  8. My work exposes me to people hanging by a thread during these unprecedented times. Loss and sickness of loved ones, being ill and isolated, financial loss or social isolation, psychotic breakdowns in family or a loved one ending their life, gauging which one would weigh heavier. Depression, anger, domestic violence, crime and a sheer loss of humanity, which one needs fixing first. Who suffers more, who is more destroyed? How will we ever wipe away the memories of this time that left a gash on so many hearts? I lost my maternal grandmother during this unforgiving time. A lady who bore seven children and gave every waking moment of her life, from 4:30 am every single day, to get ready for the Jain temple, perform prayers, boil water and methodically strain it through various hem layers for consumption. And have meals cooked before a parade of intruders as her 30 grandkids barged in without a shower to take a lick of her handmade jaggery, only to be chased out without touching (which was a happy sport for us) until we showered, to 10pm for a family that I felt was well worthy of being a village in number! She lived having followed every Jain religion principle to the core, fed and nurtured everyone who she so much as glanced upon, jangled the keys of her “anaaj ghar” soon as she spotted a beggar through her window and ran down three flights of stairs to feed them, while never eating a morsel herself past 5pm lest she harms a living thing unknowingly. She lived with a hundred people around her, and left us forever on the shoulders of barely a few for a quick cremation during a curfew. The virus took away from us the chance of saying goodbye to her, kissing her forehead and hugging her feet in pure gratitude, exacerbating the crisis of losing her. Many of her children (senior citizens themselves), grandchildren and great-grandchildren she doted over, couldn’t be there. An additional pain they carry in their hearts and mourn severely. Which one of these is worse than the other? This personal experience is but a tiny drop in the ocean of suffering and helplessness that the pandemic has brought upon thousands of families, wave after wave, loss after loss. The words of Mr Amitabh Bachchan recently touched my heart. His words reflected a raging war between water and fire. His struggle to stand tall in the face of an onslaught that’s not new to him, social opinion, was apparent. Such is the time today that is shaking up the most strongly rooted. He wrote, “In the seclusion of the day, when the sun is down and the shades of grey and dark begin to appear on the window sill by the bed…I sit and contemplate on that which brings vexation…in averse sleep hours the writing thoughts run through the mind and brain…tomorrow or as soon as it is day break shall I bring it all to book…scathing, defiant, angered, indignation profound…” A man who has taken ill, whose family is vulnerable, a little child in the family is fighting a deadly virus, faces social media misconduct and disrespect, amid the pain of having lost close friends. Which crisis is worse than the other? So how does one wrap their head around concurring physical, emotional, intellectual, social and soul-stirring challenges? Emotional arousal in the current times is so high, that it is guiding our attention to incidents that are a trigger. Crisis is multiplying because we are mentally attending to it. Emotions are impacting our perceptions, attention, memory and decision-making. At times like this when we are all looking around with grim eyes, for hope and recovery, we have to anchor ourselves in change, in reconstruction of the self and society. Everyone is suffering, and no one man’s heart mourns less than the other. We have to focus on health and help, care and compassion, rebuild and renew our strengths. This time can be life altering for us. Looking deep within us as individuals, asking “why” questions to ourselves, challenging the core of rigidities, must-dos and have-tos, review our relationship perceptions and expectations from them, evaluate our social behaviours and build communities that are not predatory, but cohesive and supportive.

  11. COVID-19 infections continue to rise dramatically in the United States but most companies are still open for business. That holds true for automakers in the country, though a new report from WOSU Public Media suggests Honda is taking some aggressive steps to keep its Marysville assembly plant up and running. The report states Honda is requiring some white-collar office workers to take up positions on the plant assembly line. That was confirmed to Motor1.com in a statement from a Honda spokesperson:Honda employees involved in purchasing, research and development, and accounting are reportedly among those being approached for assembly line work. Honda’s official statement says the company has taken similar steps in the past, but the WOSU report identifies one anonymous employee who claims to have never seen this action taken before. That employee also allegedly said the process started with Honda asking for volunteers, but then became mandatory as there weren’t many people volunteering. This situation raises some additional questions, not the least of which being the kind of work office employees are tasked with doing. Furthermore, what kind of training is being implemented to have these employees up-to-speed on assembly work? On the health side, how many production line workers are sidelined at the plant to necessitate this step? Honda didn’t immediately respond to our request for additional information on these subjects. The WOSU report suggests not all of Honda’s employees are comfortable with this arrangement, citing concerns over working in areas where people have already tested positive for COVID-19. Additionally, the report cites a United Auto Workers (UAW) Union representative questioning the training of such individuals suddenly dropped into the situation. Allegedly, employees sent to production are not given any training until they get there to work. The Marysville plant is not part of the UAW.
  12. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s marriage has hit the rocks, as the world has already been made aware of after the rapper’s Twitter rampage. A source spoke to People, revealing how the reality TV star feels ‘trapped’ in her marriage with the presidential hopeful. The star of Keeping Up with the Kardashians is reportedly privately ‘upset’ about her husband’s erratic behavior and wants him to stay at their Wyoming ranch till he ‘feels ready.’ "Kim feels trapped. She loves Kanye and she thinks of him as the love of her life. But she doesn't know what to do,” said the insider. According to reports, the couple’s marriage had already been on the verge of collapse even before the rapper’s public outburst about their marriage. For the unversed, West had sent shockwaves earlier this month after his Twitter tirade where he admitted that he had been trying to divorce his wife of six years. “I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf for prison reform,” West wrote in the message, without elaborating further. West posted a series of tweets, which were also later deleted, claiming his wife was trying to have him locked up on medical grounds and comparing himself to Nelson Mandela. Those came a day after West launched his US presidential campaign with a rambling rally in Charleston, South Carolina. At that event, he tearfully referenced a decision he said he made with wife Kim Kardashian not to abort a pregnancy.
  13. Even though the lockdown restrictions have eased a bit, many women are still avoiding that long-pending visit to the parlour. But that has not stopped them from taking matters into their own hands and care for their skin and hair with various DIY homemade remedies and packs. But waxing body hair at home can get tricky (read: messy), and an easier alternative to it is shaving. But are we doing it right? We ask this because many of us end up with red bumps, cuts and strawberry skin after shaving body hair. If you too experience these or any other skin issues, do not worry as we have you covered! These easy tips will help ensure a smooth and safe shave. Exfoliate before you shave Exfoliation is one of the most important steps. This is because you do not want your razor blades to turn dull after getting overloaded with dead skin cells during shaving. Not only that, exfoliated skin is smooth and makes for a better shaving experience. Go for a homemade body scrub or even your loofah for optimum results. Note direction of your hair growth This is important not just for waxing, but also when shaving. The key is to shave against the direction of your hair growth. Usually, legs tend to have a downward growth; for this, you need to shave in the opposite direction i.e upward. Once done, run your razor again, but this time in the same direction. This will help you get rid of the roots.

  16. Update: A representative from Porsche replied to our request for confirmation, saying the company doesn't "comment on potential developmental projects or potential future products." That's not exactly an outright denial, but it doesn't alleviate any of the fast sedan's mystery, either. Porsche may have just set a , using the massaged and tweaked Panamera "Lion." , the Lion is a lightened and more powerful (and officially unconfirmed) version of the Porsche Panamera Turbo, and our sources say one might have claimed the Green Hell’s lap record for sedans with a time of 7 minutes and 11 seconds. Apparently, at the end of a normal manufacturer day at the Nürburgring, rumors started flying that Porsche was there with an official timekeeper and notary, as well as the same stripped and camouflaged Panamera we’ve seen before. According to our sources, the company performed a cool lap to do some car-to-car photography (likely for press and promotional reasons), and it was on this lap that spy photographers were able to get closer looks at the powerful Porsche. Of course, the company was pretty tight-lipped about its presence at the Nürburgring that day, and representatives haven’t yet responded to our requests for comment – we’ll update this article as soon as they do. But given the hullabaloo at the track, we expect an official announcement of some kind sooner or later. Details of the so-called Lion are thin on the ground. This batch of photos doesn’t reveal much, though we can clearly make out some intercoolers behind the front grille openings. The Panamera is riding on 21-inch SportDesign wheels with a basketweave pattern, and there are yellow brake calipers to suggest the company’s carbon-ceramic braking package. A racing harness and bucket seat appear behind the steering wheel. Previous reporting suggests this Panamera could boast 750 horsepower (559 kilowatts) from its gas-only engine, likely a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 similar to that of the 550hp (410-kW) Panamera Turbo. Stiffened and safety-fied thanks to a roll cage, the Lion has also reportedly lost 550 pounds as part of its fitness regime, bringing its weight to just over 4,000 pounds. We’ve also wondered whether Porsche has kept any of its interior intact, since we think nabbing a sedan lap record in a stripped, two-seat hatchback would be a bit of a cheat. Here’s hoping the company at least gave it four racing seats so the whole family can enjoy some of the Nordschleife’s picturesque surroundings.
  17. KARACHI: An hours long, intense, but mild 34mm rain in the vast areas of Central, East and West districts of Karachi on Monday caused mayhem, claiming four more lives and unleashing urban flooding in large parts of these districts due to already choked and clogged storm drains, leading to immense hardships to thousands of people stranded on the roads, officials and rescue services said. After Monday's four deaths, the figureof total casualties across the city since Sunday rose to nine. Karachi’s northwestern areas including Nazimabad, Orangi town, Liaquatabad and adjoining areas were the worst-affected due to the spell of rain that caused urban-flooding, causing the already choked and clogged storm drains and sewerage network to overflow. It inundated most of the surrounding roads, causing hours long traffic jams as broken down cars and motorbikes littered the roads and thousands of hapless people were seen dragging them along in waist deep water. In some areas of the city in District Central, four to five feet deep water accumulated, which submerged parked cars and motorbikes while in low-lying areas of Orangi Town, the filthy sewage entered homes. “The northwestern parts of Karachi including North Nazimabad, Surjani, Orangi Town as well as some areas of district East including Gulistan-e-Jauhar and Gulshan-e-Iqbal received heavy showers under the influence of a 'weakening monsoon system' that moved away from Karachi but not before causing strong rain in Karachi and the adjoining areas of Balochistan,” said Abdul Qayyum Bhutto, Director Met, Karachi, while talking to The News on Monday. Denying reports of any unprecedented rain or ‘cloud burst’, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) official said it was a normal monsoon spell of around 34mm of rain in North Nazimabad, adding that the Met office had issued prior warnings and forecast of rains. “North Nazimabad received 34mm of rain followed by Gulistan-e-Jauhar 10.2mm, North Karachi 8.8mm of rain,” the Director Met Karachi said adding that now the system had moved away from Karachi and weakened as well. In the aftermath of the rains and mostly due to snapping of wires, as many as four people died in Liaquatabad, Baldia and Orangi Town, police and hospital service officials confirmed adding that one person died in Liqauatabad when the walls of his house collapsed due to intense rain. The injured person was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital but succumbed to injures during treatment. Three people were electrocuted in Baldia Town and Orangi Town areas, police said adding that two labourers were electrocuted in Baldia Town while one person was electrocuted in Orangi Town. So far, nine people have lost their lives since Sunday during rain-related incidents in Karachi, the city police confirmed adding that some of the victims injured in the accidents were also under treatment at various health facilities. The choked sewerage system and the storm drains added to the woes of the city dwellers as they faced the brunt in the last two days of mild rains (28mm Sunday, 34mm Monday) when vast areas of Karachi’s District Central and West areas were inundated after nullahs overflowed and sewage-mixed rainwater caused urban flooding in Orangi Town, Liaquatabad, North Karachi and in the other northwestern parts of the city. The worst-affected area of the city was Orangi Town when nullahs and drains, which are filled with garbage and filth but not cleaned by the Sindh government, overflowed after Monday's heavy rain, causing urban flooding and the sewage-mixed rainwater entered into homes of people, damaging household items in many cases. Residents were rescued by volunteers of welfare organizations. The Aligarh area of the Orangi Town was the worst-affected where the volunteers of Al-Khidmat Welfare Society rushed to rescue students of a female seminary. People were so alarmed by the scale of devastation that 'Azans' were called from mosques. Similarly, several areas of District Central including Hyderi, various blocks of North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, Lasbela, Golimar, North Karachi and adjoining areas experienced extreme difficulties as most of the nullahs and drains overflowed, inundating roads and streets while in some areas, cars and motorcycles were found floating in the heavy currents of water. These areas witnessed heavy traffic jams, till the filing of this report as motorists were stranded and faced hardships in returning to homes. As usual large areas of city remained without electricity following the rain. People from Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, North Nazimabad, Orangi Town, Golimar, Liaquatabad, North Karachi, New Karachi, Baldia, as well as PECHS complained of hours long power outages and in some areas, power was not restored even after eight hours of the rain. The K-Electric conceded that rain-related outages and power breakdowns due to local faults had occurred in many city areas, claiming that their teams were working to restore power.
