  2. Xbox players will get their games free on the new generation console, Microsoft has confirmed. The company's "Smart Delivery" feature will let people buy a version of a game for the current generation of Xbox One, and then have that available when they come to play on the upcoming Xbox Series X, the company said. Any developer can implement the feature in their game, and it can be used even on physical titles. Microsoft will bring the feature to all Xbox Game Studios titles, which include Halo Infinite. Publishers and developers will choose whether to implement it on their games, meaning that some third-party titles could have to be bought twice, if those making them decide so. It means that if anyone buys a game now – such as Gears 5 – for the current generation of Xbox, all they will have to do is push a button on their Xbox Series X when it is released to download the version of the title fully updated and optimised for the new console. Likewise, players will be able to buy Halo Infinite when it comes out alongside the Xbox Series X, and play it on both the new console they may put in their living room as well as the Xbox One that may be demoted to the bedroom, Microsoft noted. Not all games will be ready when the new version of the Xbox is released. Microsoft pointed to the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, for instance, which will be released in September; that will not be optimised for the Xbox Series X at launch, but players will be able to play it on their new console in "compatibility mode" until the fully optimised version arrives later on. All of those games will allow saved games and progress to move forward onto the new console, too, meaning that players will be able to pick up where they started on the previous generation. Microsoft gave a brief list of all the games that are optimised for Xbox Series X and are confirmed to support smart delivery, which included Halo Infinite and Cyberpunk 2077. But it said it would be adding more as the launch approaches. It noted that the feature works in addition to backwards compatibility, which allows games for the previous generations of Xbox to work on the new Series X. That has already been announced for thousands of titles, with Microsoft calling the console the most compatible ever and working to bring accessories as well as games into the new generation.

  8. In a time where old standards are being questioned, the opportunity to forge new paths is opening up. There is a shift towards a more sustainable lifestyle, and the demand for meaningful and long lasting products is rising. While the earth is recovering during these times of limited travel, the awareness for the necessity of e-mobility is more present than ever. Soel Yachts, a Dutch based company, is redefining the way we travel on the water by setting the benchmark for highly efficient solar electric boats. In 2017 Soel Yachts launched the first SoelCat 12 at the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort & Spa, where the solar electric catamaran takes up to 12 guests on lush lagoon and sunset cruises. Entirely silent and sustainable with no carbon pollution, this not only preserves the pristine Tahitian waters, but also creates a sense of elevated tranquillity. The prestigious resort, which is currently undergoing a transformation to introduce new luxurious and modern standards, has now decided to offer sustainability on all levels by switching their entire fleet to solar electric boats. “With the current movement of more sustainable thinking and the environmental impact on the whole world, fossil fuel free transport has become indispensable. In the past two years of successful operations with the SoelCat 12, we have seen that our reputation among the guests has increased significantly due to the growing sustainability movement. Preserving coral reefs and improving the quality of the air matters a lot, especially when on holiday.” explains Romain Vidal, General Manager of the FHP Hotel Group. Currently the first two solar electric ferries of the newly developed Soel Shuttle 14 type are under construction for the Bora Bora Pearl Beach Resort. The comfortable layout offers space for up to 24 passengers and their luggage, and can be customized to client wishes. A VIP version for exceptional private tours is also on the drawing board. With an installed battery capacity of 106 kWh and 80 kW of motor power from Naval DC the Soel Shuttle 14 is set up for speeds up to 14 knots. “Our clients want to be autonomous and no longer rely on the availability of diesel and petrol, while still approaching the performance of conventional powered boats. Solar electric boats present the perfect alternative with low running costs and quick return of investment.” explains Linda Brembs, Managing Partner at Soel Yachts. Solar Impulse Efficient Solution All of these features and benefits were taken into account when this year the World Alliance Members of the Solar Impulse Foundation selected Soel Yachts’ solar electric boats as an ‘Efficient Solution’, passing a rigorous evaluation by a team of worldwide experts in the environment, technology and business management. The solution must match the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and is judged according to three criteria: feasibility, environmental impact, and profitability for the owner. The ‘Solar Impulse Efficient Solution’ label seeks to bridge the gap between ecology and economy, bringing together environmental protection and financial viability. It demonstrates that these solutions are not expensive fixes to problems, but rather opportunities for clean economic growth. Bertrand Piccard, Initiator and Chairman of the Solar Impulse Foundation explains: “Each time I speak of protecting the environment to heads of state or government officials, they tell me that it is too expensive. This label is a strong message to them: solutions exist, and represent the biggest market opportunity of our century. An opportunity which cannot be missed.” After numerous discussions and meetings with private boat owners, island states and governments, Soel Yachts understands the needs around passenger transport and translates this into sustainable solutions for both commercial and private operators. The hull designs of the solar electric boats are optimized for maximum efficiency and the need to provide reliable running hours. “Build quality, system reliability, performance and durability are top priorities for us. We believe our ability to deliver an unforgettable experience with excellent economy per trip, truly sets our boats apart.” says Joep Koster, Co-founder of Soel Yachts. Whether providing green transportation to destinations like Bora Bora, Miami, Sydney or Toronto, or getting people closer to nature: Soel Yachts’ provides an answer for a meaningful experience with long lasting impact.
  9. On June 15, with his demise, Indian art lost one of its prominent abstract artists. Keeping unwell for some months, Damodaran died at his Mayur Vihar residence in Delhi. In artist K Damodaran’s canvases numerous subjects took myriad forms. Blending colours and textures, his abstracts were an expression of his mindscape and compositions that urged viewers to form their own interpretations. On June 15, with his demise, Indian art lost one of its prominent abstract artists. Keeping unwell for some months, Damodaran died at his Mayur Vihar residence in Delhi. “I really admired the way he used colours and spaces. Unfortunately, he did not get the credit that he deserved,” says art critic Prayag Shukla. Born in 1934 in Thalassery, Damodaran’s initial influences were his surroundings. A student of art at Government College of Arts and Crafts in Madras, in the ’60s he was part of the group of young artists who were close to KCS Paniker, founder of Cholamandal Artists’ Village and leading figure in the Madras Art Movement. “This was when there was a revival happening, with emphasis on Indian roots… His (Damodaran’s) works were different. He was painting a landscape of his own entity and land,” says artist Sumedh Rajendran. In a career spanning over five decades, his initial experiments with figuration soon gave way to abstracts. Based in Delhi, his works travelled to exhibitions across the world and are part of prestigious collections, including the National Gallery of Modern Art. In a memoir dedicated to his wife, artist TK Padmini who died in 1969 — reported published in Malayala Nadu and reproduced online — Damodaran wrote: “One cannot continue to be a painter if he is merely driven by the temptation to amass wealth or an irresistible eagerness to become famous”. Recalling his conversations with the artist, Shukla says, “He would often express his displeasure regarding conversations of commerce in art.”
  10. Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz- Arisar (JSQM-A), the Sindhudesh Liberation Army (SLA) and the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) have been named as proscribed outfits. KARACHI -- Pakistani authorities have set their sights on ethnic Sindhi militant groups as part of an overall crackdown on extremists. Pakistan's Interior Ministry on May 7 banned Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz-Arisar (JSQM-A), the Sindhudesh Liberation Army (SLA) and the Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA) for their involvement in terror activities in Sindh Province. "There are reasonable grounds to believe that the organisations are concerned in terrorism," said the ministry. The SLA and SRA have been involved in province-wide violence and targeted killings and have railway tracks, gas pipelines and electricity pylons, an Interior Ministry official in Islamabad said on the condition of anonymity. A notification from the Interior Ministry on May 7 announces a ban on three Sindhi militant organisations for their involvement in terror activities in Sindh Province. [Zia Ur Rehman] Paramilitary Rangers on April 17 perform their duties in Karachi. [Zia Ur Rehman] The militants of SLA and SRA have used the banner of JSQM-A, a Sindhi ethnic political group, to dodge a crackdown by law enforcement, the official said. These organisations have connections with other proscribed militant outfits, including the which operates in neighbouring Balochistan Province, he said. Aslam Khairpuri, the president of JSQM-A, has denied the allegations and said that his group is not linked to terrorism and militant groups. The Interior Ministry in March 2013 banned Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM), another Sindhi militant group. JSMM chief Shafi Burfat was added to the Counter-Terrorism Department Sindh's Red Book, a list of most-wanted terrorists. Abandoning violence The banning of JSQM-A, the SLA and the SRA will not only help law enforcement officials in maintaining peace in the province but will encourage youth to abandon such groups, say analysts. Members of various Sindhi groups, including JSQM-A, in recent months have groups. Several JSQM-A leaders in a news conference on February 10 announced their intention to join the Pak Sarzameen Party in Karachi and vowed to lead their lives as patriotic citizens. Earlier, last December, a group of 11 JSQM-A leaders announced in Larkana that they would quit the group and join mainstream politics. "The politics of violence, ethnicity, sectarianism and separatism have been ending in Pakistan because it is harming the country's prosperity and development," said Amjad Khaskheli, a former JSMM worker from Dadu District who denounced the group's separatist politics. Leaders of separatist groups in Sindh used youth for decades, while they themselves were enjoying a lavish life abroad, said Khaskheli. JSMM chief Burfat himself lives in Europe in self-exile, he noted. Sindhi ethnic groups have been rapidly losing ground because youth have realised that the separatist leaders pushed them into a petty war against the state, said Zareen Malah, a peace activist in Sukkur. "We are glad that youth in Sindh Province are now rejecting terrorism," Malah said. The self-realisation of youth reflects the success of state efforts to ensure lasting peace and crack down on militant groups, he said. ISIS-K, dacoits also weakened The latest move comes as law enforcement agencies have shattered the networks of religious militant groups, particularly the Khorasan branch of the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria," known as ISIS-K, and the dacoit groups in rural Sindh. In February 2019, law enforcement agencies shattered the ISIS-K network in rural Sindh by killing two of its leaders -- Abdullah Brohi and Abdul Hafeez Pindrani. The pair, who were from Shikarpur District, were the chief and deputy chief of ISIS in Sindh Province, respectively. In September 2019, Sindh Police launched a full-fledged operation after losing several senior officers in shootouts in Shikarpur. Police have arrested and killed a number of dacoit commanders since then. Dacoits -- bandits who have operated in rural Sindh throughout its history -- tend to be based along a deeply forested stretch of the Indus River locally called the Katcha area in the remote districts of Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Kashmore.

  16. Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) has today announced its entry into Extreme E, becoming the second major American team to commit to the pioneering new electric SUV off-road racing series. Founded and helmed by former racer Chip Ganassi, the eponymously-named Chip Ganassi Racing celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Over the past three decades, the team has claimed no fewer than 19 major titles and more than 220 race wins across a wide variety of motorsport disciplines – from INDYCAR to IMSA and NASCAR to the FIA World Endurance Championship – and in partnership with eight different manufacturers. Amongst those standout achievements have been eight victories in the Rolex 24 At Daytona sportscar classic and four Indianapolis 500 successes, alongside triumphs in NASCAR’s Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 as well as legendary endurance contests the 12 Hours of Sebring and Le Mans 24 Hours – making Ganassi the only team owner in history to win all six iconic races. CGR joins fellow motorsport powerhouse Andretti Autosport as the second American entry in the championship. Between them, the two teams have clinched 12 of the 17 INDYCAR SERIES crowns since 2003 – Ganassi notably going unbeaten between 2008 and 2011 – and now they are set to reignite their famous racing rivalry in an altogether different domain. In 2015 and 2016, CGR also proved its multi-surface capabilities in the Global Rallycross Championship, yielding a brace of victories and nine further podium finishes. That off-road experience will doubtless prove invaluable when it comes to tackling the diverse range of environments set to be encountered in Extreme E, each of which will shine a spotlight upon the impact of climate change and human influences on the planet – while simultaneously raising awareness, driving sustainability and inspiring action. Alejandro Agag, Founder and CEO, Extreme E, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to confirm Chip Ganassi Racing’s participation in Extreme E, marking this hugely successful team’s progression into electric racing. “CGR boasts a tremendous heritage and pedigree in motorsport, achieving consistent success over three decades in some of the toughest single-seater and sportscar series around. Of course, our championship poses a very different kind of challenge, but the team has proven itself to be a winner in every discipline it has contested and clearly possesses the skillset to similarly excel in Extreme E. “And then, of course, there is the competitive edge with Andretti Autosport, who we announced last month – and it will be fascinating to see how that plays out. These two teams have engaged in some truly classic duels over the years, and we look forward to many more to come in the unique environments that Extreme E will visit. “As a leader, Chip Ganassi has never been afraid to innovate and adapt – indeed, he has won awards for his visionary, future-thinking approach – and that is entirely in keeping with the ethos behind our ambitious and groundbreaking new series, which he was very quick to embrace. I am confident that his team will add great value to Extreme E in our drive to propagate the environmental message and engineer long-lasting change through first-class sporting entertainment.” Chip Ganassi, Team Owner, Chip Ganassi Racing, said: “Extreme E is a very different proposition to anything we have done before, but it’s where I think motor racing is headed in the future. When I started our team in 1990, one of the founding principles I built it on was innovation. I’ve always been passionate about pushing the boundaries of what is possible, and Extreme E checks that box for us in a big way. “It represents an opportunity in motor racing to use the latest technologies to attract a new, younger audience to this great sport of ours. Everything about Extreme E is cool, from the car to the race format and the in-built technology. We’re thrilled to join the championship and to play a part in developing the future of our sport.” The five competitive events on the 2021 Extreme E schedule will be staged in some of the most remarkable, remote and severely damaged locations on the planet, including Kangerlussuaq in Greenland, the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil, Al-‘Ula in Saudi Arabia and Lac Rose near Dakar, Senegal. Issues to be highlighted along the way include escalating carbon emissions, global warming and melting Arctic ice, rising sea levels, droughts and desertification, deforestation and plastic pollution. The championship recently announced a highly established Scientific Committee of Oxford and Cambridge University academic experts who specialise in these climate areas and will advise its education and research work. Each leg of Extreme E’s five-race odyssey will feature two days of intense, head-to-head knockout competition around 10-kilometre circuits. Drawing upon the help of independent experts, track designers will carefully select course options to provide the most challenging, exciting action whilst crucially aiming to minimise impact from environmental and social perspectives. News of this new outfit follows last week’s announcement that each team will be composed of a male and a female driver, competing together in every two-lap race as driver and co-driver. Each will complete one lap behind the wheel of the ODYSSEY 21 electric-SUV, with a changeover incorporated into the race format, and it will be up to the teams to determine driver and co-driver to best suit their strategy. All teams are set to take delivery of their ODYSSEY 21 E-SUVs towards the end of this year, with a group test of the vehicles to be held shortly thereafter. Further announcements on entries and series partners will be made over the coming weeks. Text & Video Credits Extreme E
  17. While yoga as a way of life is known to be extremely beneficial in improving the overall body structure, it is equally known to help the individual pain points in the body, just like the cogs in the wheel contribute to the smooth functioning of a vehicle. and stability in body movements is one such result of practicing yoga on an everyday basis. Giving us a glimpse into one of the pertinent stretches that can be practiced by anyone at anytime and anywhere is none other than actor and fitness aficionado The 44-year-old, who was captured practising Janu Sirsasana or Head to Knee Forward Bend, shared how the flexibility of the body matters and this pose is one of the best to improve it. “It’s important to stretch and flex the muscles often, to prepare the body, safeguarding our bodies from injuries and for the activities we take on. It could be cleaning and decluttering the house, or preparing for the daily fitness routine. I love this one, the Janu Sirsasana. It increases flexibility in the spine, abdomen, and back muscles, while strengthening the stomach muscles. It also improves the function of the intestines and boosts the digestion process. The best part is that I can practice it anytime, anywhere. Try it and the more you practice the better you get. How did you start your day . *First start in Dandasana with both legs outstretched in front of you. *Bend your left knee. Bring the sole of the left foot to the right inner thigh. *Square the torso over the extended right leg. Bring the torso down to the leg by tipping the pelvis forward so that the bend initiates from the hips instead of the lower back. *Keep the right foot flexed while pressing the back of the right thigh down toward the floor. *Once the maximum forward bending limit is reached, you can either maintain a straight spine and long neck in an active position, or you can relax the heart and head down toward the extended leg, allowing the spine to round. *If the hands reach your foot, hold the foot. If not, you may hold on to your ankle or calf, or place your hands on the floor wherever they reach. *The trick is to extend the spine long on each inhale. On each exhale, deepen the forward bend. *Stay in the position for five to 10 breaths and then straighten both legs, shake them out, and repeat for the other side. Here’s how the pose helps *The yoga pose, besides building flexibility in the body when practised on a regular basis, helps in relieving tight hamstrings, shoulders, hips and groin. *It is also known to work on anxiety and mild depression. *The pose helps stimulate liver and kidneys. *It improves digestion. *It relieves the symptoms of menopause.
