  1. Overclocking expert Luumi on YouTube recently made a new video testing the utility and functionality of a 3D-printed LGA1700 bracket from the Australian extreme overclocker Karta. The custom bracket, which Karta made using one of the best 3D printers on the market, puts less pressure on Alder Lake CPUs installed into the socket, preventing the CPUs from bowing in the middle. Luumi tested the bracket against workarounds involving washers and found temperatures to be very similar. For the uninitiated, it recently came to light that Intel's ILM (Independent Loading Mechanism) for the LGA1700 socket is not well optimized for Alder Lake CPUs and can put excess pressure on the CPU, causing the integrated heat spreader to bow in the middle. Thankfully, this issue doesn't affect CPU reliability, but it increases CPU temperatures by several degrees. A month ago, German publication Igor's Lab discovered a method to nullify these effects entirely. The mod involved adding M4 washers behind the socket holder, which increased the socket's height and reduced the ILM's pressure on the CPU. The results turned out to be very successful, with a 5 degrees Celsius reduction in CPU temperatures when using 1mm washers. Karta took Igor's approach one step further by 3D printing an entirely new bracket from plastic with the additional height adjustment. In testing, Luumi found the 3D-printed mod to be successful but not as successful as he'd hoped. Luumi tested the 3D-printed bracket with an Intel Core i5-12600K and EVGA's $829 Z690 Dark Kingpin motherboard with the infamous Prime95 stress test. He compared the thermal results between the stock ILM (without the washer mod) and the custom LGA1700 bracket. Temperature was incredibly similar between the two setups with less than a one degrees Celsius difference. However, Luumi noted that this could be a problem with the water block that already had a convex outline from previous use. He showcased the mounting pressure between the stock ILM and the 3D-printed LGA1700 socket. He noticed that the mounting pressure was terrible with the latter, where only the center of the CPU was getting the most attention, whereas the edges of the CPU lacked significant contact. On the other hand, it wasn't true of the stock ILM run where mounting pressure was far more linear between the center and edges of the chip. Luumi will test the custom LGA1700 bracket again once he laps the water block in a future video, so we should see far better results. However, since Igor's washer mod has proved successful, we should see the same results with this 3D-printed solution under more appropriate conditions. In a worst-case scenario, the ILM might need some height adjustment to get the best temperatures out of Intel's Core i5-12600K.

  9. The flagship Intel Arc Alchemist graphics card hits 2.4 GHz in a new OpenCL benchmark. Nonetheless, the DG2 graphics card was still no match for Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3070 (Ampere), one of the best graphics cards on the market. Barring any setbacks, Intel's DG2 family of discrete desktop graphics cards will arrive in the second quarter of the year. The flagship Arc Alchemist SKU will wield up to 512 execution units (EUs) and up to 16GB of GDDR6 memory. The graphics card has scaled up to 2.4 GHz in the new Geekbench 5 submission (via Benchleaks), likely the graphics card's boost clock. But, of course, it's an engineering sample, so the clock speed isn't final. If we look at the performance on paper, the flagship Arc Alchemist should deliver around 20 TFLOPs of FP32 performance. Of course, it's not the best metric for gaming, but it's the only information available. Based on the FP32 performance, the DG2-512 theoretically performs similar to the often referenced GeForce RTX 3070. The AMD equivalent would be Radeon RX 6700 XT (Big Navi). The Arc Alchemist scored 85,448 points in the OpenCL test, which isn't the best indicator of gaming performance, of course. Nevertheless, the level of performance would put the flagship Arc Alchemist in the same alley as the GeForce RTX 2070 as far as OpenCL workloads go. If we compared it to Nvidia's latest offerings, Intel's graphics card is around 40% slower than the GeForce RTX 3070. Being engineering samples and unreleased hardware, we should take the performance figures with a truckload of salt. In another benchmark, a similar DG2-512 sample, which maxed out at 2.1 GHz, had surpassed Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3070 Ti in some workloads. It would seem that Intel has been making progress in optimizing the Arc Alchemist's clock speeds. The early rumors pointed to a 2.4 GHz to 2.5 GHz maximum boost clock for the flagship DG2 part. The only benchmark that's remotely close to a gaming workload came in the shape of an Ashes of the Singularity submission back in December. However, a mysterious Arc Alchemist sample had put up numbers that were very close to a GeForce RTX 3070, which lends some credence to the rumor that the DG2-512 SKU could potentially offer gaming performance that's close to Nvidia's mid-range performers.
  10. Musician Name: Mizuho Lin Birthday / Location: May 26, 1990 (31 years old) Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná Brazil Main instrument: Vocal Piano Keyboard Guitar Musician Picture: Musician Awards & Nominations:- Best Performance: - Other Information: Daughter of Taiwanese and Polish descendants, Lin had her first contact with music at the age of seven, when she began singing in a children's choir in her hometown of Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, where she lived until she was 16 years old. During this same period, she began taking her first classical piano lessons, which only lasted three months, however, as her teacher had moved to another country. Then she took a break from theoretical studies and began to learn to play the keyboard on her own. Her admiration for classical singing took place when she was 11 years old, when she started listening to heavy metal bands. And later, at the age of 15, she also started to study guitar. Later, Mizuho moved to the capital of Paraná, Curitiba, starting his lyrical singing classes, also joining a music college afterwards. In 2010, after being seen by one of the members of the metal band Semblant during a performance at her college, she received an invitation to become the second vocalist of the group, taking over the post left by Katia Shakath, who had recently left the group. . Lin immediately fulfilled the band's touring schedule, which included a few concerts and festivals to promote the Last Night of Mortality album. Later in 2011, the band's first official work with Mizuho was released, the EP Behind the Mask, which was very well accepted by the specialized critics. During this period, the band gained a lot of po[CENSORED]rity in Brazilian territory and performed several shows around the country, culminating in the release of the albums Lunar Manifesto (2014) and Obscura (2020).

Musician Name: Ayumi Hamasaki Birthday / Location: October 2, 1978 (age 43) Fukuoka Japan Main instrument: J-pop, rock, dance-pop, eletrônica, R&B Musician Picture: Musician Awards & Nominations:- Best Performance: - Other Information: Ayumi Hamasaki (浜崎あゆみ Hamasaki Ayumi?, Fukuoka, October 2, 1978) is a Japanese singer, songwriter, music producer, model, actress, spokesperson, and entrepreneur. Also called Ayu by her fans, Hamasaki wrote all the lyrics for her songs, even producing and composing her own material. Born and raised in Fukuoka, Hamasaki moved to Tokyo in 1993 at the age of fourteen to start her entertainment career. In 1998, under the tutelage of Max Matsuura, CEO of Avex Trax, Ayumi Hamasaki released her debut single "Poker Face",[note 1] and, a year later, her debut album, A Song for XX.[note] 1]. The album debuted at number one on the Oricon music charts, remaining there for five weeks, selling over a million copies. The next ten studio albums released by Hamasaki sold over a million copies in Japan, with the third, Duty, selling nearly three million units. A Best, their first greatest hits album, is their best-selling album, with more than four million units distributed in Japan alone. Since 2006, after the release of the Secret album, Hamasaki's single and album sales have declined. Ayumi Hamasaki has sold over 50 million records, making her Japan's top-selling solo artist. Hamasaki also has several records in the Japanese music sphere, such as the most number of #1 singles on the Oricon (38), the most consecutive number of #1 singles on the Oricon (25) and the most number of albums and singles with more than one million copies sold.[note 2] Between the years 1999 and 2010, Hamasaki had at least two of its chart-topping singles. She is also the first female artist to have top ten studio albums on Oricon since her debut, and the first artist to have a #1 album on Oricon for 13 consecutive years since her debut. His second remix album, Super Eurobeat Presents Ayu-ro Mix, is recognized as one of the best-selling remix albums of all time, and remains his only album to be recognized worldwide. During the height of her career, Hamasaki was dubbed the "Empress of J-pop" due to her po[CENSORED]rity in Japan and across Asia. After an ear infection, acquired in 2000, aggravated by constant exposure to loud sound, Ayumi Hamasaki suffered a worsening and hearing loss, being completely deaf in the left ear.

  22. As we all take a much-needed break over the Christmas period, we can start to reflect on what a year this has been – and how we can hope next year is better. One company that hasn't had a bad 2021 is Google and, specifically, Drive. An exclusive TechRadar Pro poll carried out by OnePulse shows that Google Drive is by far and away the most po[CENSORED]r cloud storage provider going, used by around 44.1% of respondents. While this might not come as a surprise, there is a lot of competition in the cloud storage market at the moment. Apple, for example, has been expanding the scope of iCloud this year, introducing a bunch of privacy-focused features. Dropbox and OneDrive, too, are long-time competitors biting at Drive's heels. One provider to rule them all But the extent of the domination is impressive and worth pondering for a while, driven at least initially by Google's willingness to give away generous services for free, alongside the overall ecosystem lock-in for its services and Android. According to OnePulse, around 44% of respondents use Google Drive's free or paid services, followed by iCloud (31.2% across free and paid), OneDrive (11.2% across free and paid), Dropbox (6.8% across free and paid), and then everyone else makes up the remaining 6.8%. So not that surprising overall but you can clearly see the influence of Apple's iPhone and Mac customer base electing to use the tightly integrated iCloud services. Digging deeper, the poll found most people (48.7%) have been using their service for between one and five years, with the rest either under a year (16.3%) or over five years (35%). In terms of storage, around 55.4% use between 1GB and 100GB, 30.8% have no idea how much storage is left, and 13.8% use between 101GB and 1TB or more. We've also looked at the best cloud document storage services
  23. In a surprising twist of fate, Nvidia's two-year-old GeForce GTX 1650 has become Newegg and Amazon's best-selling graphics card for the time being. Unfortunately, the GPU has a history of being a terrible value option and doesn't hold a place in our list of Best Graphics Cards. Still, thanks to shortages in the market today, the GeForce GTX 1650 has grown in substantial po[CENSORED]rity. The GeForce GTX 1650 launched over two years ago as Nvidia's successor to the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. But in our review of the GPU, it fell flat on its face compared to rivals from AMD like the widely loved Radeon RX 570 4GB and 8GB models. Simply put, its price to performance at the time could not match what AMD offered with the Radeon RX 570. The GeForce GTX 1650's only saving grace was in its shallow power consumption of just 75W, allowing some models to come to market without the need for any auxiliary power. We suspect the GTX 1650's po[CENSORED]rity is due to several factors, the biggest of which is Nvidia still produces its older Turing-based graphics cards such as the GeForce GTX 1650, GTX 1650 Super, GTX 1660, GTX 1660 Super, and RTX 2060. Another essential factor to consider is the multiple SKUs that make up the GeForce GTX 1650 as we know it today. Currently, Nvidia makes four different GeForce GTX 1650 with three other dies. First, the launch version arrived with TU117 and GDDR5 memory. Then, Nvidia subsequently released an upgraded model with GDDR6 memory (giving it 50% more memory bandwidth). Finally, the chipmaker rolled out two more GDDR6 models utilizing the TU116 die with an upgraded NVENC encoder, a TU106 model with the same die used in the GeForce RTX 2060. As confusing as all that sounds, this means Nvidia is utilizing three different dies and two different memory models for the GeForce GTX 1650, which we believe allows Nvidia to produce GeForce GTX 1650 in massive quantities relatively quickly. In addition, the chipmaker can recycle defective TU116 and TU106 dies and repurpose them into GeForce GTX 1650 graphics cards instead of scrapping, which wastes resources. Despite the GeForce GTX 1650's po[CENSORED]rity from both consumers and a manufacturing perspective, scalper prices for the GPU are not even remotely close to the Turing-powered graphics card's original MSRP of just $150. For example, Newegg's best-selling Geforce GTX 1650, the MSI GeForce GTX 1650 Ventus XS 4G OC, costs $354, and Amazon's Zotac Gaming GeForce GTX 1650 sells for $324. Even funnier is the fact that MSI's model is the original GDDR5 version, and it's more expensive than the GDDR6 equipped Zotac model on Amazon. Even when comparing scalper prices, the GeForce GTX 1650's cost is pretty stale than other GPUs you can buy for "just $200" more. For $559 on Newegg (right now), you can buy a brand new XFX Speedster Swft 210 Radeon RX 6600 graphics card that will run circles around any GeForce GTX 1650. Ultimately though, the real reason everyone is still buying the GeForce GTX 1650 in droves is that it is one of the cheapest graphics cards you can buy today at all, that can play the latest AAA games decently well.
