  6. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has been tipped to feature a P-shaped camera module. It is said to retain the 108-megapixel primary camera from its predecessor, the Galaxy S21 Ultra. However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra could offer an improved camera performance. Reportedly, a few lines of code in the Samsung camera app have been located that hint at the Galaxy S22 Ultra receiving a 'Digital Enhancer' feature. In addition, this handset is believed to pack a 40-megapixel selfie camera at the front. The report by South Korean publication Itmaterial mentions that Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will use its 108-megapixel primary sensor to offer a microlens-like functionality. This feature is said to be activated when using the dedicated 108-megapixel shooting mode. The report states that the 'Digital Enhancer' feature could be exclusive to the Galaxy S22 Ultra at launch. However, it is expected to be made available to other handsets with a 108-megapixel camera like the Galaxy Note S20 Ultra and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra specifications (expected) [Past reports] have suggested that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will launch with the Snapdragon 898 SoC in the Indian market. The global variant has been tipped to pack an Exynos 2200 chipset. The handset is claimed to be accompanied by the S Pen. The S Pen used to come with the now-discontinued Galaxy Note devices. However, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is tipped to launch as the Galaxy S22 Note and revive this series. Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is believed to have a P-shaped rear camera module after an image of its glass cover leaked recently. The glass cover has five cutouts. However, Ice Universe, a known tipster, claims that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will feature a quad camera setup at the back. It is tipped to pack a 108-megapixel primary camera paired with a 12-megapixel sensor and two 10-megapixel sensors. This smartphone is believed to launch with 12GB + 128GB and 16GB + 512GB storage variants. It is expected to offer Black, Dark Red, and White colour options.
  7. The age of Zoom calls could soon be a long way off, according to perhaps unsurprising new predictions from the company itself. The video conferencing giant, which has been one of the biggest success stories of the pandemic, has said it can play an important role in the post-pandemic world. This would mainly be through helping facilitate and encourage hybrid working as employees look to split their time between the office and a more comfortable home environment. Zoom future “I think there are three big shifts that are happening post-pandemic that businesses are investing in and that’s spurring our growth and relevance,” Zoom's Ricky Kapur, head of the company's Asia Pacific zone, told CNBC in a televised interview. This boldness follows the company's most recent financial results last month in which it revealed it is still expanding its customer base as hybrid working becomes more po[CENSORED]r for businesses around the world. The company added that it has seen particular success in drawing in larger customers contributing more than $100,000 each in trailing twelve months revenue, with Zoom also boasting 512,100 customers with more than 10 employees. “Employees are demanding flexible work arrangements and the ability to work frictionless, irrespective of where they are,” Kapur added, noting that customers of all sizes are also looking for more customizable and flexible approaches to work. “Whether it’s a retail experience, the ability to live feed into the store and speak with a live person — see a product, have a real conversation, and then make a purchase decision. Consumers are expecting that from companies,” he said. Zoom has been working hard to continue the amazing growth it enjoyed during the pandemic as it attempts to keep track with rivals such as Microsoft Teams. This includes recent updates such as live transcription, which is now available for all free Zoom accounts, after having only previously been offered to paid subscribers. These are the best Christmas Zoom backgrounds to help you get into the festive spirit
  8. Giving an old system new life by installing more memory or a new storage device is one thing. But plugging a modern solid-state drive into an archaic 20-year-old Power Mac G4 requires a lot of hardware and software hacking, with the end result being questionably useful at best. Because clearly, a modern PCIe NVMe SSD that delivers gigabytes of throughput per second isn't going to deliver its best while running over a PCI bus with 133 MBps of bandwidth. Apple originally released its PowerMac G4 in 1999 and then launched its upgraded iterations till 2002. In other words, this desktop is outdated, to put it mildly. In addition to the ancient CPU and GPU, it lacks almost all modern interfaces. So it's nearly impossible to use any modern component with it without complications. But that didn't deter Pierre Dandumont from Journaldulapin.com. So what does Apple's early 2000s Power Mac G4 have to work with in terms of an interface? PCI. Not PCI Express, mind you, but a PCI slot that can be used to install various add-in-cards, such as graphics boards (yes, since the system is based on a Power processor, it lacks AGP as well). Meanwhile, there are PCI-to-PCIe adapter boards that let you install PCIe hardware into PCI slots, though with some caveats. Just plugging things in is not enough to make PCIe hardware work with a Power Mac G4. That system for obvious reasons does not support the NVMe protocol used by modern speedy SSDs. But it appears to support the AHCI protocol used by modern hard drives, some PCIe SSDs, and all SATA SSDs. The Power Mac G4 shipped with SCSI or Parallel ATA HDDs, and it looks like Apple used PATA controllers that support AHCI, but we are speculating here. This AHCI support enables the use of PCIe SSDs that use this protocol, such as Samsung's SM951. Yet even picking up the right SSD is not enough to make a relatively new drive work in a Power Mac G4 PC that's roughly 20 years old. In a bid to make the drive bootable, a different BIOS (or Open Firmware in this case) is needed and an appropriate version of Mac OS X is required, which Journaldulapin.com explains how to install. After all that, there will still be performance limitations, such as the 133 MB/s bandwidth supported by a 32-bit 33 MHz PCI bus (keep in mind that we are talking about a half-duplex interface here), but this is to be expected. A legitimate question about installing a new SSD into a system with such a performance-capping interface is whether it would be far easier and faster to just plug in an external SSD using a USB connection. And it is certainly easier to plug in a USB drive, but Apple's Power Mac G4 only features two USB 1.1 ports, which means a 12 Mb/s data rate (1.5 MB/s), an order of magnitude slower compared to what a 32-bit 33 MHz PCI interface provides. Of course, using a FireWire 400 (around 50 MB/s) connection would have been faster, but connecting a modern SSD over a FireWire interface to a 20-year-old PC would probably have been even trickier than using a PCI slot. Then again much, like many of the best Raspberry Pi projects, installing a new component in an outdated Power Mac G4 is a lot less about convenience or improved performance as it is about fun and figuring out what's possible. From that perspective, this endeavor was clearly a success.
  9. Musician Name: Edward Christopher Sheeran Birthday / Location: February 17, 1991 (30 years) Halifax; West Yorkshire; England Main instrument: pop folk pop Musician Picture: Musician Awards & Nominations:- Best Performance: - Other Information: Edward Christopher Sheeran MBE, better known as Ed Sheeran, (Halifax, February 17, 1991) is a British singer, songwriter, producer and actor. 14. OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro are getting OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12 again. The latest release is promised to resolve the problems that were introduced by the previous update, which started rolling out last week. OnePlus had suspended the last update for the OnePlus 9 series after users complained about the bugs and issues it carried. Similar to OnePlus, Samsung is said to have resumed the stable Android 12 update — after suspending it over reported problems. It is reportedly rolling to Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphones. Last week, OnePlus released the original Android 12-based OxygenOS 12 for the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. That update introduced bugs including the ones affecting mobile data connectivity, notifications, and even resulting in freezing issues and display problems among others. The company ultimately suspended that release and is now rolling out a new software package that is promised to resolve the previous issues. While OnePlus 9 is receiving the software version LE2111_11_C.39 for Indian users and LE2115_11_C.39 for consumers around the world, OnePlus 9 Pro is getting LE2121_11_C.39 in India and LE2125_11_C.39 in global markets, according to an official announcement posted on the OnePlus Community forums. In terms of changes, OnePlus said that the new OxygenOS release improves the smoothness of fingerprint unlocking, optimises system power consumption, and fixes an issue of screen tearing when coming back to the home screen after playing some games. The update is also promised to address the issue that was causing the notification bar to appear blank for some users. Further, there are improvements on the part of camera and network connectivity. The OxygenOS 12 update based on Android 12 for OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro also carries the December 2021 Android security patch. “As always, this OTA will be incremental. The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and we'll begin a broader rollout in a few days,” the company said. OnePlus has acknowledged that despite being a bug-fix release, the new OxygenOS release doesn't address some of the reported problems, such as with the auto-fill feature in Chrome and temporary lack of access to the Ultra HD 48-megapixel primary and auxiliary camera on Google's Camera app. For these problems, a follow-up update is in plans, the company said. Meanwhile, users can look for the latest update on their OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro by going to the Settings > System > System Updates. Just like the OnePlus flagship phones, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 had also started receiving One UI 4 based on Android 12 in South Korea that got suspended last week after users reported major bugs, including the ones causing the devices to brick (or become unresponsive) in some cases. SamMobile reports that Samsung is seeding a new software release to both foldable phones in South Korea. While the update for Galaxy Z Flip 3 carries firmware version F711NKSU2BUL4, Galaxy Z Fold 3 is getting firmware version F926NKSU1BUL4, the report said. Samsung may bring this update to Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 users in countries other than South Korea in the coming days.
  15. If you thought a $2,500 audiophile-focused ethernet switch was strange, then you'll also be amused with this NVMe SSD designed specifically for audiophiles. Last known to be in the sampling phase, the new device was posted to the Audiophilestyle forums. Supposedly, the drive can increase audio quality and give you real 3D sound along with an experience that only comes from vinyl recordings, but don't look for this drive on our list of Best SSDs any time soon — its impact on audio quality is questionable, to say the least. The developer claims to have designed and built the device from the ground up in close collaboration with an unnamed SSD controller manufacturer. The pictured device has a Realtek SSD controller, which is a company better known for its sound processors, though it began making SSD controllers a few years ago. The drive comes with 1TB of 3D TLC flash, but it only comes with 333GB of usable storage capacity because the SSD runs in pseudo-SLC (pSLC) mode, which trades off usable capacity in favor of performance and endurance. The maker claims that using this mode increases sound quality, outperforming standard TLC mode: "The sound quality is just our test experience, this test is performed under the same standard product (PCB, external power jack, crystal oscillator, capacitors, etc. have not been modified) TLC mode: It sounds like background music, no features and powerless, everything is flattened, lacks extension and density. pSLC mode: There is a special natural feeling, it becomes more smooth and calm, the thickness is slightly increased, and overall it is more resistant to hearing but still slightly dry." As for the rest of the drive's features, it is specced out with a Crystek CCHD-957 Femto clock oscillator, two Audionote Kaisei 220uf capacitors, an external 5V DC power input, an eight-layer PCB with 2oz of copper, Milspec PCB stiffness, 300% grounding area, 5u gold plated connectors, and a CNCed copper heatsink. Additionally, the maker claims this SSD is powered by an external power source (power doesn't come from the motherboard) to enhance sound quality further. You can see the power jack in the lower-left corner of the device. Drives were apparently sampled to several forum members, many of whom later "lost contact" with the maker after receiving the product. However, one sampler did leave a bit of feedback about the device, saying, "Still trying the drive out, just received 2 days ago. Initial impressions are positive, this is easy/pleasant to live with as OS boot drive, unlike the Samsung 970 Evo plus NVME." Thumbing through the forum thread, it appears this experience is based on the users' subjective measure, though, meaning there are no actual measurements of sound quality. That's par for the course for many insanely-priced devices for audiophiles, though. Honestly, we highly doubt the fancy gizmo provides any additional sound enhancements over a "standard SSD." Regardless of the tech surrounding the chips, at their most basic level, SSDs store data in binary 1s and 0s, meaning that you can only have 1s and 0s of data. Simply put, adding extra gadgets or power isolation to an SSD can't change those 1s or 0s into something better, and any rarely encountered errors are immediately corrected through various types of error-correcting code. If anything, the SSD should be very fast simply due to the nature of pSLC, and have crazy overkill power conditioning. Besides that, it's hard to believe that it would provide a better audio experience. That's because SSDs are incapable of altering audio quality — that's all done by the audio processing unit on your computer.

  24. Google will no longer be merging its two video conferencing software products as the company has decided to prioritize Google Meet for enterprise users over Google Duo for consumers. As reported by 9To5Google which first broke the news of a merger of the two products last year, the software giant initially set out to have a single video calling service aimed at both personal and business users. Following this decision, Google created a “unified team” to work on both its consumer and enterprise-focused video conferencing services. The undertaking was originally billed as a merger with the code name “Duet” which 9To5Google points out is a portmanteau of Duo and Meet (Du + et). Although the combined team worked for most of last year under the impression that Duo and Meet would merge, Google's interest in building a dedicated video calling service for consumers waned. Instead, the company shifted its focus to have Google Meet be primarily an enterprise product. This is because there was no longer a desire to build a video calling app that works equally well for consumers as it does for enterprise users. Prioritizing Meet over Duo Over the course of this year, Google's combined Meet/Duo team spent a majority of its time working on Meet and its enterprise features while Duo saw minimal development. When 9To5Google reached out to the software giant regarding its upcoming plans, a company spokesperson said that there was “no change in our plans to continue investing in our consumer users”. Google also highlighted the new features added to Duo this year which include expanded tablet and foldable device support, HD screen sharing, new video effects, Google TV support, improvements to quality and reliability and more. The biggest change to Duo this year though was a refreshed UI that replaced the old homescreen, that showed a live feed from a smartphone's front-facing camera, with a new simplified list of a user's call history and a “New call” button. However, a similar redesign was rolled out to Meet in October of 2020 which helps make the case that Meet and not Duo was the company's main priority. While Google says that it has a “rich roadmap next year for both consumers and business users”, the company didn't expand on whether Meet or Duo will be the service receiving new features and upgrades next year. We've also rounded up the best video conferencing software and the best online collaboration tools Via 9To5Google
  25. Laptop manufacturer Eurocom has created a new 15.6-inch notebook called the Nightsky ARX315 that houses a full-blown Ryzen 9 5950X 16-core desktop chip and can be equipped with either an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 or RTX 3070 mobile GPU. With the 5950X and RTX 3070 included, pricing starts at $2,683. Eurocom built the ARX315 with a thick 1.3-inch housing and the necessary cooling to handle the desktop-class processor. A heatsink made entirely of copper and cools the CPU, GPU and power delivery systems. Connecting all four heatsinks together are six heat pipes in total, with two large fans cooling the laptop down. If you find the 5950X has too many cores for your liking, the ARX315 can also be outfitted with an 8-core Ryzen 7 5800X or 12-core Ryzen 9 5950X CPU depending on your needs. The exterior of the chassis is colored in a stealthy matte black finish, accented by four exhaust ports that house the copper heatsinks that are visible to the naked eye. The laptop also comes with a LED-backlit keyboard (with 15 color options) and a 240Hz matt display (the resolution is unknown). Along the right of the laptop are a mic/headphone jack, another microphone jack (yes two jacks), and a single USB 3.0 port. At the rear, there is a USB Type-C port, full HDMI port, mini DisplayPort, and AC power. To the left, you get a Kensington lock RJ-45 ethernet port, dual USB 3.2 ports and a MicroSD card reader. For storage and memory, you get a good selection of options including dual M.2 NVMe 2280 slots and a single 7mm SSD/HDD hard drive slot for bulkier storage solutions. Sandwiched between the M.2 slots and hard drive slot are two DDR4 SODIMM slots capable of running up to 64GB of 3200Hz DDR4 memory. This laptop is optimal for power users and professionals who need a desktop replacement capable of quickly crunching through big CPU workloads. Just keep in mind that laptops housing desktop components typically are best suited to desk duty plugged into the wall. Battery life with these notebooks is generally terrible and is best left for times where you only need to be on battery for a short period of time.
