Located in the Central Andes of Peru, the La Viuda Mountain Range, between the departments of Lima and Junín, has become one of the favorite destinations for travelers who love nature and trekking.
The Cordillera La Viuda is approximately 50 kilometers long, so it should not be surprising that during the trip you will find charming lagoons, worthy of being visited and admired.
Laguna Calancayo or "seven colors"
It is one of the most visited places in Canta. The seven-color lagoon, as it is usually known, is located below the La Viuda mountain range, at 4800 meters above sea level, near Huancayo and Cerro de Pasco.
In addition to the lagoon, other attractions are the Andean ducks and the alpacas found in its surroundings.
Azulcocha Lagoon
Belonging to the district of Anta, province of Acobamba, the Azulcocha lagoon has a particular charm. Its celestial sky and pure air are lost with the lagoon. In addition, the herds of llamas and alpacas will probably accompany you on your tour.
Verdecocha Lagoon
Upon reaching Verdecocha, you will be impressed with the beauty of its waters. As with other lagoons, you can appreciate and share with the fauna of the place.
Leoncocha Lagoon
It is located in the province of Yauyos. The lagoon is surrounded by immense hills and has an enormous depth.
In the middle and well in the background, you can see a huge stone, which seems to have the footprint of a giant lion's foot. Legend has it that it is an enchanted place.
Chuchún Lagoon
The Chuchún lagoon, located in Canta, rests in the Cordillera de la Viuda. It is part of the circuit of water mirrors of that province located three hours from the city of Lima.
This natural reserve provides the vital element to farmers and ranchers in the area. Likewise, according to their inhabitants, it has the shape of the map of Peru.
It is the one that ends the route of the magical lagoons, already in the Chillón river basin. This lagoon presents wonderful landscapes that make you think that all the effort to get there was worth it.
