Many people took advantage of the holiday for Fiestas Patrias to travel and tour some places in Peru. One of the most chosen destinations during those dates was Áncash.
According to the head of the Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Dircetur) of Áncash, Fátima Rodríguez, it is estimated that at least 11 thousand people arrived in this region.
The specialist indicated that the figure represents an increase of 50 percent with respect to the number of tourists who visited the place during the holiday last year.
"The number of visitors has practically doubled, the indicators are quite encouraging in terms of visits by both foreign tourists, as well as internal tourism, that is, citizens from other regions of the country," he told the Andean Agency.
ATTRACTIONS
He explained that the places located in the Sierra region of the region (Callejón de Huaylas and Callejón de Conchucos) were the ones that had the highest demand for visitors.
Among them are the Huascarán National Park, Huaraz, Chavín de Huántar, and also Chacas and the adventure sport activity in the Cañón del Pato, organized by the District Municipality of Huallanca.
The most visited lagoons were Llanganuco and Laguna 69. The Nevado de Pastoururi also concentrated a large number of visitors.
The head of the Dircetur highlighted the promotion and inspection work of the inspectors that was carried out during the holidays in order to avoid informality in the sector and ensure the good treatment of tourists.
WELCOME TO TOURISTS
Some places like the province of Huaraz, capital of the Ancash region, prepared to receive visitors. With the support of the Provincial Municipality of Huaraz, various activities were conducted aimed at tourists, who arrived to this part of the country, to make their stay more enjoyable.
In addition to the daytime visits, the night tour at the Chavín de Huantar archaeological complex was also well received.
Between Saturday 27 to Tuesday 30 July, the provincial commune of Huaraz, through municipal hosts, hired by the Tourist Promotion Department, provided guidance to tourists to take services from formal companies. They also offered tourist information on the province of Huaraz.
In addition, during the night, artistic presentations were developed at points of greater tourist influx in the city of Huaraz, with the aim of promoting our traditional dances, with the participation of the Center for Artistic Training ‘Contigo Peru’ and other urban groups.
