  7. It’s no surprise that Porsche knows its way around a race track. The German automaker remains the winningest manufacturer at LeMans with 19 victories to its name. That’s fantastic, but there’s much more than meets the eye aside from the success at the Circuit de la Sarthe. As such, Porsche’s latest video talks about the history behind its 935/78 race car. Dealing with the elephant – or whale – in the room, the legend earned its Moby Dick nickname for its long tail design; the mechanics came up with the name, and it even lives on with the modern reincarnation of the iconic racer. Another design staple of the 935 was its aggressively flat nose. Designed to make room for the oil and intercoolers, it adds to the form-follows-function ethos of the vehicle. Rather unsurprisingly, the mechanical challenges aren’t limited to just the front. Pesky racing rules required the rear-mounted 3.2-liter flat-six engine to have air-cooled cylinders – the engineering team wanted the powerplant to be water-cooled. Aside from its iconic aesthetic, Porsche isn’t afraid to mention that the 935 wasn’t as successful as other racecars from the German automaker. Its sole victory came in the 1978 installment of the Silverstone 6 Hours – F1 ace Jackie Ickx qualified on pole, and the rest was history. The 935 wasn’t victorious at LeMans that year after being largely overshadowed by the 936 prototypes.Semantics aside, the racing world hasn’t seen another car quite as iconic or bearing such a loony callsign. However, thanks to Porsche’s recent re-entry into the upper echelon of sportscar racing, we could see a new paradigm of engineering brilliance and success.
  8. They may have been tasked with the responsibility of running an entire country, but when it comes to dinner time, the Bidens understand the need to keep technology aside and focus on the moment, and on each other. While they have always managed to set couple goals, Joe and Jill Biden — despite being crazy busy — make room every night for a dinner date, too. In a recent exclusive interaction with Kelly Clarkson, the first lady of the US said that family time is hugely important. “So, we try to keep the Sunday night’s dinners… I mean, it’s been a little busy lately. But, we still do it and the kids look forward to it. And I think traditions really ground kids,” she said. The first lady continued: “It was funny, recently my granddaughters called me — I love to have a beautiful table with candles and flowers, or whatever I can find to put on it — and they said, ‘Nana, we’re making our own dinner and we’re doing it nana-style!’. Some of it has permeated — I hope that they continue on the traditions.”When Clarkson asked if she has ‘date nights’ with her husband president Joe Biden every night, the first lady laughed and said: “We do. He’s so busy, I’m so busy, but we do keep dinner. And we have dinner together, no phones, the phones have to be off. And now we’re having dinner in this beautiful home [the White House], and there’s a fireplace in the dining room, and they light the fire, and we just sit and talk for a while. “And then he has to go back to work, you know, into the night, and I’m grading papers.” In order to unwind from her ‘tense job’, Jill Biden said she exercises. “I run, I bike. It clears my head, so that’s really important to me, and I think all women should have something — it doesn’t have to be exercise, although hopefully, I wish it would be. Just to take a moment for yourself.”
  9. KARACHI: Since having met last year in the final, holders Karachi Kings will take on Lahore Qalandars in a crucial game of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 here at the National Stadium on Sunday (today). The match begins at 7pm. Kings will be more confident as they notched their second win after they downed Multan Sultans by seven wickets in Saturday’s day-game. Kings achieved the 196-run target with seven balls to spare. Babar Azam seemed in elegant touch, scoring 90 not out, his second successive fifty and 16th of his PSL career. He is a real threat for the opposition. He has learnt how to finish the game and has rung an alarm bell for the competing teams. Kings’ English wicket-keeper batsman Joe Clarke (54) also in Saturday’s show played another entertaining innings by hitting four huge sixes. And their opener Sharjeel has also shown his class by scoring 105, his second PSL century, against Islamabad United the other day. Kings also have some solid bowling resources in Mohammad Amir, who on Saturday bowled a splendid over against Multan’s in-form skipper Mohammad Rizwan in which Kings also took two reviews, although unsuccessful. Rizwan was beaten three times comprehensively which was a superb demonstration of fast bowling seen for the first time in this event so far. Kings’ Arshad Iqbal has been continuously unsettling the batsmen and has added to last year’s champions bowling weight a lot. Lahore, on the other hand, will depend on Mohammad Hafeez and Fakhar Zaman who are in good touch, especially Hafeez who has scored two fifties in three games. The T20 is a game of just one or two players which can turn the game any way. Lahore’s fast bowling resources are much better, also having Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, the two lethal bowlers with international experience. Lahore have also hired the services of Nepalese young leggie Sandeep Lamichhane in place of Rashid Khan of Afghanistan who has left to join his national side for the Test series against Zimbabwe in the UAE next week. Both teams have won two matches each. Karachi started their title defence with an emphatic seven-wicket win over former champions Quetta Gladiators on February 20. Kings then were beaten by United with a five-wicket margin on February 24, before outwitting Multan by seven wickets on Saturday to take their points to four from three games. Lahore had started superbly when they had beaten both Peshawar and Quetta in their first two matches by four wickets and nine wickets margins respectively. However, Sohail Akhtar-led Lahore tasted their first defeat when they were downed by Multan by seven wickets on February 26.

  11. A new Toyota Land Cruiser is upon us. And if we take the previous reports as truth, we could be looking at the new body of the Japanese SUV on these leaked images posted by Kurdistan Automotive Blog on Instagram. According to the caption that comes with the images, the bare SUV bodies below were spotted in Japan, looking like they're sitting within the factory. Check the second image by swiping right on the embedded post below for a closer look. The bare Land Cruiser body you saw above wasn't the only thing that leaked out. The chassis has also been spotted with the engine installed on it, as well as the alleged Land Cruiser doors. We embedded the other post below, but make sure to go through all the images so you'll have a view of the different angles of the ladder-frame chassis. It's important to note that reports from last year said that the upcoming 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser will sit atop the current platform of the outgoing 200-series model. That rumor was from Japan's Best Car, which sti[CENSORED]ted that Toyota has already advised dealers about the new SUV. The new-generation model, however, will get an extensive overhaul in other areas such as engines, drivetrain, and suspension. There have been conflicting rumors about the Land Cruiser's future in the US. One report from Road & Track back in December said that the Japanese SUV will be axed for the US market after 2021. A January report, however, said that the Land Cruiser could be sold in the US again a few years after the alleged April 2021 global debut, most likely will come with three V6 engine options in tow. Then again, let's all take these reports with a healthy dose of skepticism. April is just around the corner anyway so we'll know the truth soon enough.
  12. Letting go of someone we hold close to our heart is an excruciatingly-painful experience. But, the pain isn’t reserved for the departed; it is also for someone who is alive, but not close enough to hold or embrace. One may argue grieving for the dead is harder, because despite conflicts and declarations of ‘never wanting to see them again’, at least the thought that someone is alive and happy in their life, is a respite. Some argue, grieving the absence of living people with whom we have deep bonds, is an open wound that stings without notice or necessity. Grieving is messy. One may experience anger, guilt, bitterness, sadness, and anxiety in a matter of a few hours. Getting to the other side of this tunnel is a journey that is unknown to all. Grief is often misunderstood; perceived as something normal until it comes your way, natural, until we decide for the other that enough time has passed. Clocked in stages of denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance, grief becomes a group or community issue, taking convenient and subjective strides in families and among friends. Today, amid a pandemic, while the world grieves together it must be recognised that grief is not a social factor; it is purely subjective and psychological. Everyone deals with it differently and must not be rushed, judged or compared to others. This can build pressure on the griever, amplifying negative emotions of guilt, sadness and anger. This also has nothing to do with how strong-minded, well-adjusted or mature one is, in the face of loss. I opened this dialogue for us to reinvestigate our understanding of grief, God forbid we have to experience it, or find ourselves supporting one who is. Pushing for experiencing the various stages — and eventual closure — need not be the goal. In fact, I would go as far as to say, it is entirely fine if the above doesn’t happen. I counselled many grieving people, particularly in the last one year. When a loved one departs, what makes us grieve is the close and loving attachment we had with them. The vacuum that can’t be filled by someone else because that attachment and its manifestations were so unique. Grief counselling for me is not about closure, it is about the acceptance of three facts: the death of a person, the fact that the relationship does not end, and that one can still find ways to manifest the beauty and strength of that attachment. People often report guilt when they wake up and go through the day without thinking of the deceased. They report anger. They feel they are terrible to have smiled while watching the TV or while enjoying a meal. We all have a psychological immune system that makes us fall back into a routine and feel pleasant emotions we haven’t allowed ourselves to feel. With time, it helps us to find a narrative, to heal and to adapt to this change. It helps people to reopen doors to the fresh breeze, embracing what comes with it. It helps with new reflections of the one gone, new perspectives on the relationship and new manifestations of the enduring absence, thereby allowing for grief to happen in a healthy manner. So let the breeze in. We distinguish healthy grieving from an unhealthy one, when one’s overall functionality is impacted for over six months after a loss, such that the person is not able to perform daily duties and functions. Grieving doesn’t have to have a time limit. While initially acute, it can catch up with us years later as well. So long as we can manage to grow despite it, make space for other aspects of life as we go along, and do not stop ourselves from experiencing them to the fullest. I often say to those grieving that what really helps is just showing up. I have had experience of a long-term grieving process where I struggled tremendously. The one thing that got me through was, while my insides twisted, I got out of bed, made myself look orderly and showed up where I needed to be. At work, I focused on what I had learnt, I gradually practised to sustain my concentration on my role, on giving and adding value, to look outside and beyond the loss and to manifest the love I had, elsewhere.
  13. Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Saturday took a dig at India, urging the country to either work collaboratively or "come have more team". The sentence refers to IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who after being captured by the Pakistan Army when his plane was shot down by the PAF two years ago, was offered tea. His phrase "the tea is fantastic" went viral across both countries, with Pakistanis using it as ammo to remind India what may transpire if it dared commit a misadventure. The federal minister took to Twitter to pay tribute to the armed forces and also, ended up giving India a dire warning in the end. "Two years ago, we showed the world that Pakistan is capable of defending itself against an aggressor many times bigger & with greater resources. We want peace but will not be dictated to," Umar tweeted. He concluded the tweet in the end with a "tea invitation" to India, if it continued hostilities. Pakistan shoots down two Indian aircraft Two years ago on February 27, then Pakistani military spokesperson Major General Asif Ghafoor had confirmed that two fighter jets of the IAF had been shot down after they crossed the LoC and into the Pakistani airspace. "One of the aircraft fell inside AJK while other fell inside IoK," he had added. The swift response from Pakistan came a day after IAF jets intruded into Pakistani territory and dropped their payload, fleeing as the PAF jets scrambled. Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor had said, "Two Indian jets entered Pakistani airspace and the PAF faced them. The two planes were shot down — one fell in our space and the other on their side." The DG ISPR had stressed, "Pakistan's armed forces have capability, will, resolve and nation’s support. But because we are a responsible state and want peace, we decided first of all that we won’t take any military targets." Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan had congratulated the nation on its two-year anniversary of the response to the Indian attack.
