  1. ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army sent an F-16 jet to take the photographic surveys when the weather prevented rotary machines from approaching K2 during the search mission to locate Pakistani climber Ali Sadpara and other missing climbers, according to a statement issued by British-American climber Vanessa O’Brien. Vanessa O’Brien, who is Pakistan’s Goodwill Ambassador, is also coordinating the search efforts through a virtual base camp, issued a statement saying an important press conference will be held Monday (today) to provide more information about the missing climbers. Pakistani mountaineer Sadpara along with two other climbers Juan Pablo Mohr and John Snorri went missing on February 5 during their expedition to K2 and efforts to locate them so har have failed. The K2 Virtual and Physical Base Camp team in the press release said that “an extraordinary search operation in the history of mountaineering” is underway on K2. With possible locations been identified through satellite images, the camp notified that information was also obtained through synthetic aperture radar technology, which has been used to identify and track the sleeping bags and tents of the mountaineers. “When the weather prevented rotary machines from approaching K2, the Pakistan Army sent a F-16 to take the photographic surveys. We proved the SAT/SAR technology worked, too, as it helped us identify points that we searched for later. Unfortunately, these 'leads' turned out to be a sleeping bag, torn tents or sleeping pads. None of these were Ali Sadpara, Juan Pablo Mohr or John Snorri Sigurjonsson,” it added. “These three strong and courageous mountaineers have 13 children, John Snorri Sigurjonsson (6), Ali Sadpara (4), and Juan Pablo Mohr (3), and I know they all felt loved by their families. Please give these families time, space and compassion. Share your stories about them, so they will be remembered.” Ali Sadpara, who celebrated his 45th birthday at K2 Base Camp on February 2 before he started the summit bid, has a record of climbing the eight highest peaks in the world and hoisting the Pakistan flag.

  4. With the merger between FCA and PSA completed, the new Stellantis group is official. While initial reports almost pushed the Chrysler brand off the edge, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares confirmed in a recent interview that it will be otherwise. Instead, Stellantis will prioritize reinvigorating the Chrysler marque in the US over bringing Peugeot across the Atlantic. As it stands, Chrysler is safe, but it seems like we weren't looking at the right place during the merger. Apparently, the one that will hit the ax under the Stellantis group is the Street and Racing Technology (SRT) Team. This is according to a Stellantis spokesperson who spoke to Mopar Insiders amid the looming rumors. The move wasn't a total dissolution of the SRT performance engineering team, though. According to the spokesperson, the team has been integrated into the company's global engineering organization. "This action will have the two-way benefit of ensuring that our brands’ SRT and performance-focused product offerings continue to meet the highest quality standards and expectations while delivering key learnings from motorsports and other high-performance-technology applications across a wider mix of our company’s product lines," the spokesperson told Mopar Insiders. With that said, sales and development of SRT-branded vehicles under Dodge, as well as the Jeep and Ram vehicles that use the expertise of the SRT team, will still continue. This is just a mere dilution, with the SRT team working on all the brands under Meanwhile, while we still expect high-performance Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles in the near future, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis has confirmed in a recent interview that the days of the supercharged Hellcat V8 engines are numbered in favor of electrification. Could the disbandment of the SRT team be connected to this? Who knows, but we'd wager the use of electrification in performance vehicles under the Stellantis group, along with the help of the newly-absorbed SRT engineers, will play a huge role moving forward.

  6. Pakistani musician Ali Zafar will be part of the PSL's music programme which will be aired before the opening match of the league, confirmed the PCB on Sunday. PCB CEO Wasim Khan said that the singer, however, will not lend his vocals to the song but will star in the music show as an actor. Khan said that Naseebo Lal is among four artists who are shooting for the programme in Istanbul, adding that it will be edited and shown on TV. The first match of the PSL will be played at the National Stadium in Karachi on Saturday, February 20 between the Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators. PSL opening ceremony to be held in Istanbul, say sources Earlier, a report in The News had said that the opening ceremony of the sixth edition of the PSL will be held in Istanbul. "Singers Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig and Young Stunners’ Talha Anjum and Talha Younis have moved to Turkey for shooting," the report cited sources as saying. After being shot in Turkey, the ceremony will be aired on television on the opening day of the country’s marquee professional league on February 20. According to the report, sources had said the National Stadium will also act as a bio-secure bubble so it is not possible to hold the opening ceremony at the iconic venue. This is the second year on the trot that the PSL-6 is being held entirely in Pakistan. The UAE had hosted the initial four editions as Pakistan was struggling to get the confidence of the international community back on the security matter.

  9. The Porsche Taycan Turbo S is a quick machine. With a quarter-mile time of 10.7 seconds (for the 2021 model year), it's one of the reasons why electric vehicles today have gained a reputation in straight-line races unlike before. Well, apart from several Tesla drag races we've seen, of course. But does the all-electric Porsche sedan has what it takes to win a drag race against the 911 Turbo S and Audi RS6 Avant? More importantly, can it hold on its own in a 1-kilometer (0.62-mile) race? Gallery: 2021 Porsche That's what we have here, courtesy of Motorsport Magazine on YouTube. The drag race contenders? A white Porsche Taycan Turbo S, an orange 992-generation Porsche 911 Turbo S, and a gray Audi RS6 Avant – all under the VW Group but ultimately serving different types of car buyers. Obviously, the heaviest of the bunch is the Taycan Turbo S, considering the bulk of battery pack it carries. Tipping the scales at 2,349 kilograms (5,179 pounds), the top-spec Taycan is substantially heavier than the RS6 Avant, which weighs 2,209 kg (4,870 lbs). The 911 Turbo S, despite not being the most powerful of the bunch, has the biggest weight advantage at 1,655 kg (3,649 lbs). The Taycan may be the most powerful and has the most pull here but its weight penalty has a lot of bearing, especially in a race this long. With that said, we'll spoil this and tell you that the newest 911 Turbo S won the long drag race over the Audi and the Porsche EV. But by how much? Check the quick video embedded on top. Don't worry, it's a no-nonsense race that won't take much of your time.
  10. The installation is a replica of the old Panasonic stereo, Sahoo revealed. “In making this replica of the Panasonic stereo, I extend my support to all the radio programmes and request all the people to listen to radio programs regularly. It took 4 days to built this replica using 3,130 matchsticks,” the artist was quoted as saying. World Radio Day is celebrated as an international day to raise awareness about the importance of the medium. The day was decided by Unesco on November 3, 2011, during its 36th conference. It was adopted as an international day by United Nations General Assembly in 2012. This year, Unesco has invited stations to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the special day. There are three sub-themes this time: evolution, innovation and connection. The day was decided by Unesco on November 3, 2011, during its 36th conference. 11. Acclaimed host and comedian Stephen Colbert opened up about the highlights of the impeachment trial of former US president Donald Trump after its second day. The late night talk show host was full of concern as new evidence emerged related to the Capitol Hill insurgency that happened on January 6. He called the entire uprising “worse than we thought.” “And I gotta tell ya, I came into this with my ‘It’s pretty bad’ septic tank already brimming over,” he said. The comedian also gave an earful to Republican lawmakers who ignored the trial proceedings and focused instead on reading briefing papers about issues completely unrelated: “Yes, other, more interesting topics—like how does history tend to remember cowardly fascists enabling worthless pieces of garbage?” He went on to urge that this trial be taken more seriously. “It is important that one time, as a nation, we look this straight in the face. Only by facing this truth will we have any hope of stopping it from happening again,” he said. “Also, I’m pretty convinced it wasn’t antifa now,” he said.

  15. In the boating world, outboard motors reign supreme in terms of portability, ease of maintenance, and better power-to-weight ratio in comparison to their inboard counterparts. However, these design advantages limit the engine's power output, which is a fair trade-off for the benefit of larger cabin space. That's the reason why the Lexus LY 650 opted for a 2,700-horsepower (2,013-kilowatt) Volvo inboard engine setup, while the Lamborghini 63 luxury yacht has two V12s integrated within the hull, each making 2,000 hp (1,491 kW). While Mercury outboard motors can only produce as much as 400 hp (298 kW), the company has created a solution. Introducing, the Mercury Verado – the first-ever V12 motor designed for outboard use. It aims to revolutionize the boat and yacht design, and it's easy to see why. With a 7.6-liter displacement and quad-cam powerhead, the Verado can produce up to 600 hp (447 kW). With more horsepower comes more flexibility for boat builders, needing fewer outboard engines than before, ergo, increasing fuel efficiency by 20 to 25 percent. The Mercury Verado V12 also features a lot of unique traits. It has the first two-speed automatic transmission for outboard engines. It also has the first steerable gearcase, which pivots independently underwater while allowing the powerhead to stay in place – a space-saving feature. Style, of course, isn't forgotten in the Verado's color choices. It's available in Phantom Black, as well as in three shades of white namely Pearl Fusion White, Cold Fusion White, and Warm Fusion White. With all these said, there's one discerning question that needs to be answered: With 7.3 liters and 600 naturally-aspirated horsepower on tap, what car do you think we
  16. Manasa Varanasi was crowned Miss India 2020, but runner-up Manya Singh also made everyone proud even if she did not bag the crown. Manya, from Uttar Pradesh, is the daughter of an autorickshaw driver. And her success is the result of years of hard work and many sleepless nights. Manya revealed she had to spend many nights without food and sweat. She could not attend school as she had to start working in her teenage. “All the clothes I had were hand-me-downs. I yearned for books, but luck wasn’t in my favour. Eventually, my parents mortgaged whatever little jewellery my mother had to ensure that I paid my exam fees in order to earn a degree,” she shared with Miss India in December 2020, adding how her mother suffered a lot to provide for her.At the age of 14, Manya fled home. “I somehow managed to complete my studies in the day, became a dishwasher in the evening, and worked at a call centre at night. I’ve walked hours to reach places so I could save the rickshaw fare.” Talking about her motivation behind participating in Miss India 2020, she had said, “I am here today at the VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 stage to uplift my father, my mother, and my young brother and to show the world that all is possible if you are committed to yourself and your dreams.” Manya’s journey is truly inspiring!
  17. RAWALPINDI: The Pakistani forces killed four terrorists after they launched an attack on a security post in South Waziristan, the military's media wing said Friday. 19. Love him or hate him, you can't deny that Tim Burton (no, not the director), also known as Shmee150, has a tasty collection of supercars that could make any petrolhead drool. The supercar connoisseur owns a garage of special vehicles such as the McLaren Senna and 675LT Spider, as well as a Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro and GT R Roadster. He also owns the keys to a Toyota GR Yaris and a Supra, plus of course an electric vehicle in the form of a Porsche Taycan Turbo S. While most of these cars are from European brands, Burton also has an affection for an American brand. He currently owns a Ford Focus RS Heritage and a Ford GT, but his latest acquisition from the Blue Oval comes with a lot of muscle – a Mustang Shelby GT500. Shmee150's intention to buy a supercharged Mustang wasn't a secret. He revealed last year that he's adding four more vehicles to his garage, and that includes the Shelby GT500. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the plan continuously pushed back to the backburner/ The current situation didn't hold back the YouTube celebrity, though. With the help of Auto Tempest, who handled the sourcing of the exact Shelby GT500 he's looking for (including the exact options), the order wasn't so tall after all. Shmee's newest Shmeemobile comes in Grabber Lime paint color, which is the same as the press vehicle we reviewed before (minus the tape and racing stripes) and the default color via the Ford online configurator. His supercharged 'Stang comes with the coveted Carbon Fiber Track Package, though, so it has the naked carbon fiber wheels, huge wing, splitter wickers, and rear seat delete. Burton's next purchase would be the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series and BMW M3 Competition, which will both arrive this year. He's also looking to buy a TVR Griffith if it ever reaches production.
  20. Louis Vuitton owner LVMH and music star Rihanna have agreed to suspend her fashion line Fenty less than two years after its launch, the French luxury goods giant said on Wednesday. LVMH said in a statement that Fenty’s ready to wear activity, based in Paris, would be “put on hold” pending better conditions – a rare setback for the luxury group, which has weathered the coronavirus crisis better than most rivals. The R&B singer and LVMH launched the Fenty fashion brand in May 2019, only the second time the French group had set a label up from scratch as it looked to tap soaring demand for luxury celebrity collaborations. LVMH did not elaborate on the reasons for hitting the pause button but after a big launch and debut collection, the brand kept a low profile and never followed up with major marketing events, even before the COVID-19 crisis. Trade publication WWD, which first reported news that the label was being suspended, said on Wednesday that a skeleton staff remained at the Paris headquarters to wind down remaining operations.Asked about the fashion venture during the group’s third-quarter earnings call last October, LVMH’s finance chief Jean-Jacques Guiony called it “a work in progress”: “We are still in a launching phase, and we have to figure out exactly what is the right offer. It’s not something that is easy. “LVMH also said on Wednesday that private equity fund L Catterton, which is connected to the group, had taken a stake in Savage X Fenty, Rihanna’s lingerie line.”LVMH and Rihanna reaffirm their ambition to concentrate on the growth and the long-term development of Fenty ecosystem focusing on cosmetics, skincare and lingerie,” it added. Fenty – after the “Umbrella” hitmaker’s full name, Robyn Rihanna Fenty – was meant to build on the singer’s joint cosmetics venture with LVMH, with a full range of clothing, shoes and accessories. It was the first label the acquisitive group – also home to storied couture houses such as Christian Dior and Givenchy – had fully created since Christian Lacroix’s eponymous brand launched in 1987. It eventually sold that on in 2005 after it struggled to ever turn a profit.
  21. If reports are to be believed, Prince William and Kate Middleton are planning to have a fourth child. Two months after the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister Pippa Middleton announced her pregnancy, Us Weekly reported that she too now is trying for another child with William. A source told Us Weekly: “Having four children was always part of Kate’s plan. She put the idea on hold when [the COVID-19 pandemic] hit, but now there is light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccine and [Prince George and Princess Charlotte] scheduled to return to school in April,” said the source. The insider went on to tell the outlet: “It took a while for Kate to convince William, though. He said that three children is more than enough.” “The thought of having four made him feel overwhelmed. … But Kate’s desires to have another child have inspired him, and at the end of the day, he loves and appreciates the secure family setting he never had growing up. Why not make it bigger?” said the insider. “After taking some time to think about it, he’s on the same page and is excited about the future,” they added. The insider apparently also dished the details about the monarch’s reaction to the Cambridge’s plans: “She adores her great-grandchildren. She’s slightly concerned that the Cambridges are biting off more than they can chew, especially as Kate isn’t planning to employ another nanny (as she wants to be hands-on), but as long as they’re happy, she’s happy.” “She wants Charlotte to have the same enjoyable experience — to grow up with a little a sister to confide in and look out for,” added the source. Whether or not there is any truth to these circulating reports, only time will tell.
