[Auto] Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing to Debut on February 1
-Apex posted a topic in Auto / Moto
Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing to Debut on February 1 Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing Will Debut on February 1st Good news if you've been waiting for the true successors to the Cadillac ATS-V and CTS-V—GM Authority reports the new CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing are set to be revealed in a virtual event on February 1. The CT4-V Blackwing will likely be powered by a version of the old ATS-V's twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6, while the CT5-V Blackwing will get Chevy's supercharged 6.2-liter V-8. Both will have a manual transmission as standard, with a host of other performance goodies available. A few years ago, a handful of Road & Track staffers walked the Detroit Auto Show floor with legendary product guy Bob Lutz, and he gave us a rundown of the then-new Kia Stinger. Lutz was deeply impressed, but expressed disappointment at the Kia badge on the nose—the logo simply didn't match the premium feel of the rest of the car. He'll surely be happy to hear that Kia has unveiled a new logo. The brand also revealed a new slogan today, Movement That Inspires. More will come in a presentation about the automaker's future on January 15. The sound you hear is American Formula 1 fans crying out in pain, facing the prospect of waking up an hour earlier on Sunday. Motorsport.com reports that F1 is looking to switch the start time of European races from 3:10 pm to 2:00 pm. For a long time, races started at 2:00 pm, but the series pushed the start to 3:10 pm for American audiences, and to allow for longer pre-show events. But the teams don't like the later starts as it means they're at the track for longer into the night, and broadcasters didn't like starting at 10 after the hour because it meant they had extra time to fill. Motorsport.com says all teams are in favor of the earlier start, so the change should be ratified soon. -
Simple ways to fight corruption Every year, more than $3 trillion is paid in bribes or is stolen by corrupt officials. If that doesn’t affect you, it may affect someone you know. What is corruption? Corruption is the abuse of office for personal gain, and it takes many forms. It’s the politician taking a bribe before awarding a building contract to the briber. It’s the city council member paying for his family vacation with public funds. It’s the official demanding bribes from citizens in exchange for access to clean water. Who does it affect? Corruption affects everyone, especially minority and vulnerable po[CENSORED]tions. As the biggest obstacle to economic and social development it harms societies in these ways: It undermines democracy and human rights by weakening governments. It diverts funds from public services such as health care, education, and sanitation. It discourages foreign investment, leading to fewer jobs. Those numbers aren’t the only reason to get mad. Corrupt officials divert funds from public services like health care and education to projects that will line their pockets. Corruption also harms societies by undermining human rights. It can cost people their freedom and sometimes their lives. So how can you fight corruption? By making sure the laws in your country are enforced, says former U.N. youth observer Jackson Dougan. Many countries have anti-corruption laws, but, as Dougan explains, they may not have the resources to monitor and enforce those laws. That’s where you can help. You can make a difference Powerful people are often the ones taking bribes or making shady deals, and that discourages honest citizens with few resources. But thanks to new technologies, you don’t need a lot of money or power to fight corruption. For example, a couple started an anti-corruption website in India, where people can report instances when they have been asked for bribes. Transparency International offers these ideas in its anti-corruption kit: Organize a committee to count and keep track of public supplies, such as school textbooks. Coordinate a sporting event that the community can participate in to raise awareness of corruption. Create a petition and take it to the decision-makers. Thanks to new technologies, you don’t need a lot of money or power to bring corruption to light. You can use social media and online platforms, such as I Paid a Bribe, to crowdsource reports of corruption in real-time, even anonymously. Web and smartphone applications such as Open the Books in the U.S. can help you keep tabs on government spending, including how much officials are being paid. These kinds of data can be used to hold corrupt officials accountable and push through reforms. Transparency International offers other simple ideas for making a difference in your community. December 9 is International Anti-Corruption Day. Say “no” to corruption and learn more about what you can do to uphold transparency. This post is adapted from Stopping corruption might seem impossible. But there are simple ways to fight it. and Delete corruption from the palm of your hand from ShareAmerica.

Trump doesn't ask backers to disperse after storming Capitol President Donald Trump encouraged supporters who stormed the Capitol on Wednesday in protest of his reelection defeat to “remain peaceful," but he did not call for them to disperse. The seat of democracy descended into chaos when protestors overwhelmed police and bulled their way into the Capitol, forcing a delay of the joint session of Congress where lawmakers were counting electoral votes that will affirm Democrat Joe Biden's White House victory two weeks before Inauguration Day. Trump offered only a muted response to the violence as loyalists brandishing his paraphernalia clashed with police, occupied the Capitol and even stormed the Senate chamber. Under growing pressure from allies to condemn the violence, Trump tweeted, “No violence!” adding: “Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue.” The commander in chief did not ask supporters to vacate the area as the unrest continued. At a rally earlier, Trump had encouraged supporters to march on the Capitol and suggested at one point that he would join them on Capitol Hill. In his remarks, he used incendiary language with violent undertones. Trump had urged his supporters to “get rid of the weak Congress people” — presumably through primary challenges. He said “get the weak ones get out. This is the time for strength.” Republican lawmakers pleaded with Trump to do more to stop the violence. House GOP leader Kevin McCarthy of California said he told the president to “calm individuals down.” “I’ve already talked to the president," MCarthy told Fox News. "I called him. I think we need to make a statement, make sure that we can calm individuals down.” A Senate ally, Republican Marco Rubio of Florida, appealed directly to the White House: “Mr. President @realDonaldTrump the men & women of law enforcement are under assault. It is crucial you help restore order by sending resources to assist the police and ask those doing this to stand down." Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., posted a video message urging Trump to “call it off.” “This is Banana Republic crap that we’re watching right now,” said Gallagher, who had spoken out against objections from fellow Republicans to certifying the Electoral College vote that Biden won. Vice President Mike Pence, who was ushered out of the Senate chamber to a secure location as protesters breached the building, tweeted for protesters to disperse. “The violence and destruction taking place at the US Capitol Must Stop and it Must Stop Now,” he said. “Anyone involved must respect Law Enforcement officers and immediately leave the building.”

Destiny 2 Coup De Grâce Mission's High Celebrant Rewards May Not Be Dropping Bungie warns that completing the new Crow mission may not earn you the rewards that it should. The latest weekly reset in Destiny 2 has brought a new quest, Coup de Grâce, where you kill High Celebrant, capping off an ongoing story thread in Season 12. However, Bungie has alerted players that rewards may not be dropping as they should. And now it's offering some tips to try to mitigate any potential issues you might encounter. Here's what you need to know if you plan on taking on Coup de Grâce right now. "We are investigating an issue where some rewards are not dropping from completion of the High Celebrant mission," Bungie said in a tweet. It didn't offer any further specifics, but players on the Destiny subreddit have reported possibly related issues. That includes not receiving the promised Exotic ship, although it turns out this is due to the activity description being inaccurate. Bungie has clarified the ship has a rare chance of dropping, rather than being a guaranteed reward, although subsequent completions will increase the likelihood of receiving it. You may want to hold off on completing High Celebrant, though Bungie will hopefully be able to retroactively hand out the correct rewards to those who finish it in the meantime. If you want to try your hand at it anyway--and who can blame you, with Destiny 2's story being in such an interesting place--you can talk to Crow on Tangled Shores to get started. However, Bungie has also noted that armor rewards that do drop from the High Celebrant hunt are dropping with lower stats than they should. It doesn't offer any further information but says more will be shared "when available." How To Deal With Coup de Grâce's Bug In a follow-up the original tweet, Bungie has advised those taking on the mission to "slow down when damaging the High Celebrant." In other words, you don't want to melt through the boss as quickly as possible, as you might normally be inclined to do. Additionally, it suggests that players "wait a few seconds before shooting the black blight orb." These appear partway into the encounter after you follow the enemy and start the mission proper.

Facebook Pages are becoming a whole lot easier to use Pages are getting a new layout and Followers will replace Likes Facebook is now rolling out a new Facebook Pages experience for creators and public figures that has been completely redesigned with a simpler and more intuitive layout. In addition to a revamped layout, the redesign also includes updated navigation, a dedicated News Feed for pages, a new Q&A format, safety and integrity features, insights and more. These changes are intended to make it simpler for Facebook users to see bios, posts and other important information while being able to easily navigate between a personal profile and public Page. One of the ways the social media giant plans to do this is by bringing the power of its News Feed to Pages for the first time. Now Pages can discover and join conversations, follow trends, interact with peers and engage with fans. At the same time, the dedicated News Feed will even suggest other public figures, Pages, Groups and trending content that a Page or public figure will likely care about. We've put together a list of the best website builders around These are the best web hosting services for your website Also check out our roundup of the best free website builders Facebook is also introducing a new text-based Q&A format to allow Pages to better engage with fans. Followers will now be able to ask a Page questions about a topic and the answers will be presented as a stack of questions that uses can swipe through for more information. Doing away with Likes The biggest change to the Facebook Pages experience though is the fact that the company is doing away with Likes to focus on Followers instead. This is because Likes can misrepresent the real po[CENSORED]rity of a Page as a user may have liked a Page in the past and then unfollowed it in order to remove its updates from their News Feed. Followers on the other hand represent Facebook users that still receive updates from a Page and this allows creators and public figures to get a stronger indication of their fan base. Facebook is also giving creators and public figures new Page management features such as the ability to more clearly assign and manage admin access permissions based on specific tasks. For instance, users will be able to grant varying levels of access to certain people to manage specific tasks including Insights, Ads, Content and Community Activity and Messages. The updated Facebook Pages experience is now rolling out to some Pages but Facebook has said in a new blog post that it will be available to all Pages in the coming months.

Nvidia-Arm Acquisition Under Investigation By UK Authorities Critics worry merger will stifle competition. When it became public that Nvidia was in talks with ARM about an acquisition, some critics raised eyebrows, including ARM's Co-Founder Hermann Houser who called the deal a 'disaster.' When the deal went through, others expressed their concern about the merger's effect on the industry, and now, a few months later, UK Authorities are investigating the $40-billion purchase over concerns regarding competition, AP News reports. ARM was purchased by Nvidia from Softbank, who had previously acquired ARM in 2016 for $32-billion, but ARM failed to perform up to investor's expectations under Softbank's ownership. However, unlike Softbank, Nvidia has many competitors that work with ARM technologies, which is why the deal is subject to such intense scrutiny. Nvidia has made a vow to maintain ARM's neutrality and its open licensing model, but not everyone is willing to take Nvidia's word on it. ARM being a UK-based technology licensor, it is the UK's Competition and Markets Authority that is currently investigating the deal. However, due to regulatory concerns also from the EU, US, and China, ARM says the deal likely won't be complete until early 2022. "The chip technology industry is worth billions, and critical to many of the products that we use most in our everyday lives," said Andrea Coscelli, Chief Executive of the Competition and Markets Authority (via BBC). "We will work closely with other competition authorities around the world to carefully consider the impact of the deal and ensure that it doesn't ultimately result in consumers facing more expensive, or lower quality, products." ARM is a chip architecture designer that licenses the designs out to parties interested in incorporating the designs in their own silicon. Among ARM's licensees are Apple, Samsung, Broadcom, Qualcomm, Huawei HiSilicon, Nvidia itself, and more, with its chip designs in almost every smartphone currently in the consumer's hands. Apple's latest M1 chip also contains ARM technology. The concern is that Nvidia's ownership of ARM would give it too much power over its competitors.
