At G-Star 2022, Korean companies XLGames and Kakao Games revealed the stunning debut trailer for ArcheAge II, the Unreal Engine 5 MMORPG announced last September to be coming in 2024. The five-minute video is comprised of around one minute and fifteen seconds of in-game footage, while the rest is an interview with Executive Producer Jake Song (also known as the creator of both the first ArcheAge and the Lineage series). Among other juicy tidbits, Song confirmed that ArcheAge II is being developed for both PC and consoles. In case you cannot watch the whole video, we've transcribed his words below. ArcheAge II is currently targeting a 2024 release. ArcheAge II is a seamless open world action MMORPG and a sequel to the acclaimed ArcheAge. The game is being developed as a multiplatform title that you can enjoy on both PC and console. Our primary focus is on action-packed combat as well as production for an immersive storyline. We are targeting AAA-tier visuals with Unreal Engine 5 and intend to offer a non-linear progression-based seamless open world experience. ArcheAge II shares the same lore as ArcheAge. However, the storyline progression is not the same. While ArcheAge is centered around a narrative storyline, ArcheAge II will focus more on personal adventurers and personal stories. It has a similar timeline to ArcheAge. It will portray a period when Auroria was first discovered and people are starting to settle there. The storyline will involve discovering and solving mysteries of an ancient civilization that have been forgotten for thousands of years, leaving it to blend with the natural environment. ArcheAge's trade runs were enjoyed by many players, but the system did have some flaws. In ArcheAge II, we intend to enhance the trade system so that players are able to do trade runs alone, in teams, or in raids. Another popular feature of ArcheAge was the housing feature. We plan on improving it by adding more customizations, allowing players to live in towns with their friends, and even creating their own towns with their guild members. https://wccftech.com/archeage-ii-gets-stunning-debut-trailer-and-first-info-confirmed-for-consoles/

We will show you how you can hide recent apps and dock while using Stage Manager on iPad running iPadOS and get more space on display. Things get even worse on the smaller 11-inch iPad Pro as everything looks super crammed. You can remedy it by switching to the ‘More Space’ setting by going to Settings > Display & Brightness > View. But it still doesn’t help much since the full-screen view of apps is a better choice on the smaller iPad Pro. However, you can make extra room on the display by hiding the recent apps from the left-hand side of the display and the dock at the bottom. They will go away and will only come into view when you swipe toward the center of the display from the bottom or the left. This is especially important if you have an 11-inch iPad Pro - this is not exactly an issue on the 12.9-inch model, depending on how you look at things. Let me show you how you can disable the recent apps and dock in Stage Manager. Tutorial Step 1. First of all, you have to enable Stage Manager. Pull down Control Center from the top right-hand corner of the display and then tap on the Stage Manager icon. Step 3. See those two checkmarks? The one at the bottom is for the dock, and the one on the left is for recent apps - tap to turn both off. You now have more space for apps side-by-side in Stage Manager. I highly recommend enabling the 'More Space' option from Settings if you want to make good use of the 11-inch display. Everything looks nicer that way. In case you're wondering how you can jump to another stack of apps or access the dock, simply swipe to the left side of the display or swipe up from the bottom. If you have a Magic Keyboard connected, then take the mouse pointer to the left or toward the bottom. https://wccftech.com/how-to/how-to-hide-dock-and-recent-apps-in-stage-manager/

With all the issues surrounding NVIDIA's 16-Pin 12VHPWR cable, we decided we can also try and help people out with a little guide that may help avoid any trouble using a GeForce RTX 4090 or GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card. Here's A Small Guide To Help You Make Sure Your NVIDIA 16-Pin 12VHPWR Cable For GeForce RTX 4090 or RTX 4080 Doesn't Melt While we don't know the exact nature of the issue yet, we do know that at least three sources have pointed out that poor contact force is the most plausible reason behind the melting of the 16-pin 12VHPWR cable. We have worked with some manufacturers to assemble a small guide that will let you know the proper way of installing the cable to the graphics card. RELATED STORY Hassan Mujtaba NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 Laptop GPU Appears In Intel Core i7-13700H CPU Powered Samsung Galaxy Book Pro Laptop There are two ways you can plug the cable in. You can do it either with the graphics card on your desk or you can do it with the graphics card plugged into the PC. If you are going the first route, take the 16-pin 12VHPWR cable and plug it in fully. The cable will make a slight *click* sound once you have pressed it in all the way. Make sure there are no gaps between the 16-pin connectors on the adapter and the cable. Slightly wiggle or pull the cable out to make sure, if there are gaps, you have to press it back in with more force (check this a few times before and after installing the card on your PC). Now install the graphics card inside the PCIe slot on your PC. Once installed, bend the cable to your liking but make sure it is beyond the 35mm clearance headroom. (bending below the 35mm clearance can lead to higher resistance build & can pull the cable out of the socket). After making sure that your cable is properly inserted, plug the four or three 8-pin power plugs into the adapter. Now close the side panel of your PC and make sure that it doesn't clash with the 16-pin 12VHPWR cable. (In the case it does, check the connection of the cable again to see if there are any visible gaps). Realign the cables and once you are sure everything looks right, boot up your PC. We have also seen issues with people installing the same cable on an ATX 3.0 PSU and we have to point out that the same problem can occur on the PSU side as the GPU side. A loose connection can appear at both ends and in the case you are running a native ATX 3.0 PSU with a Gen 5 cable, you should follow the same steps as we mentioned for the GPUs above. The reason why checking the connection on both ends is very important compared to an 8-pin connector is because the new 16-pin 12VHPWR cables come with a buckle-less design which is resistant to high-pulling force and bending. Plus, it latches to the anchor firmly & won't come out. The 16-pin cable has a small latch mechanism underneath the anchor which doesn't seem to do the job well. It is easy to come out and even when fully plugged in, the connection can come out loose in certain cases. This shows that despite your best efforts, there's still a chance that an improper connection will occur sometime and in that case, it is just better to check your connector periodically. It also shows that the design of the cable in general isn't as user-friendly as the existing 8-pin plugs & a redesign or a revision is the best option that we can hope for. We want to tell our readers and anyone reading this post that this guide is to help you out and mitigate the issue. We aren't saying that this will fully solve the problem as NVIDIA still has not confirmed what's the root cause but since most tech outlets have pointed this out, we can only provide the resolution we see fit for now. https://wccftech.com/nvidia-16-pin-12vhpwr-cable-connection-guide-for-geforce-rtx-4090-rtx-4080-owners/

Rabat - The global population has reached eight billion today, Tuesday, November 15, representing a “milestone in human development,” the United Nations indicated in its latest World Population Prospects 2022. Reaching this historic milestone is a “sign of human success, but it is also a great risk for our future,” said the Director of the UN’s population division John Wilmoth. The UN report indicated that the global population is projected to reach around 8.5 billion in 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050, and 10.4 in 2100, attributing population growth to increased levels of life expectancy at birth. The source added that half of the forecasted increase in population will be concentrated across eight nations: Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Tanzania. In addition, the report predicted that India will replace China as the world’s most populated country in 2023. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that “this is an occasion to celebrate our diversity, recognize our common humanity, and marvel at advancements in health that have extended lifespans and dramatically reduced maternal and child mortality rates.” Read also: Eight Billion People; One Humanity However, Guterres stressed that reaching eight billion people is a “reminder of our shared responsibility to care for our planet and a moment to reflect on where we still fall short of our commitments to one another.” World Population Prospects 2022 indicated that the rate of world population growth slowed to less than 1% growth rate in 2020, the slowest since 1950. The annual report added that fertility has significantly decreased across several countries in recent decades. “The 46 least-developed countries are among the world’s fastest-growing,” added the report, warning that many nations are estimated to double in population between 2022 and 2050, “putting additional pressure on resources and posing challenges to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.” https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352398/un-world-population-hits-8-billion-milestone

The first images and bits of information about the 2023 Toyota Prius are here. This is the Japan-spec model, which offers a reworked hybrid drivetrain with 193 hp for the standard hybrid and 220 hp for the plug-in hybrid. Details about the U.S.-spec 2023 Prius are coming tomorrow, so stay tuned. Toyota has taken the cover off the new 2023 Prius, as the first images and details about the Japan-spec car have arrived. While it's instantly recognizable as a Prius thanks to its teardrop shape, the lower stance, far sleeker side profile, and interesting-looking headlights and taillights take it to an entirely new realm in terms of design. The new fifth-gen Prius is also significantly more powerful than before, with Toyota claiming that the reworked hybrid system produces 193 hp in standard form and 220 hp in the plug-in-hybrid model. A 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine replaces the old 1.8-liter unit. The U.S. version may have slightly different specs, but it's clear that there will be lots more grunt on offer than the current model, which has a combined output of just 121 hp. The single image of the interior shows a large horizontally oriented touchscreen, a digital gauge cluster on a tablet-style screen behind the steering wheel, and a row of buttons on the dash for the climate controls. The chunky steering wheel is similar to what's in the bZ4X EV, and the shifter on the center console appears similar to the joystick-style unit we're familiar with from the old Prius. Toyota will be releasing more details on the U.S.-spec Prius soon, so check back here in the evening of November 16 to learn all about this new generation of the hybrid hatchback. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a41974283/2023-toyota-prius-preview/

Rabat - Morocco has ranked seventh in the recently-published Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI) thanks to its commitment to decarbonization efforts and support of green solutions in the energy and transport sectors. The ranking, issued by Germanwatch, New Climate Institute, and Climate Action Network, left the first three positions empty since “no country was strong enough in all index categories to achieve an overall high rating.” Denmark followed in the fourth position as the world’s best-performing country in climate protection ahead of Sweden, Chile, Morocco, India, Estonia, and Norway. The report assessed the performance of 27 countries and the EU block across four categories: greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, energy use, and climate policy. The selected countries account for over 92% of global greenhouse emissions. This year, Morocco improved its position in the ranking by one spot. “As in the previous two years, Morocco rates high in three main CCPI categories: GHG emissions, energy use, and climate policy,” the report indicated. The report added that the North African country secured a “medium” rating in the renewable energy category after obtaining a very high rate for its positive trend in renewable energy. However, Morocco had “a very low rating for its share of renewable energy and a low for its 2030 targets.” While Morocco has led positive developments in line with the green agenda, CCPI experts criticized the country’s current laws for “lacking implementing force and lacking the industrial sector’s adherence to them.” They also highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic, water scarcity, and the global economic crisis worsened by the war in Ukraine are cooling down Rabat’s ambitions. Read Also: Morocco Exceeds Expectations in Renewables Market Attractiveness Index In this context, the decentralization of renewable energy is likely to contribute positively to the acceleration of the decarbonization agenda. However, Morocco appears to “lack the will” to encourage citizens to produce their own clean energy, the report argued. As the world gradually moves towards decentralized energy markets to expand energy security, the Moroccan government maintains a strong hold on the green energy sectors with a few microgrids and small-scale renewables projects taking place across the country. Morocco’s interest in prioritizing centralized grid systems echoes a trend often associated with developed countries. According to EY’s recent report on Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI), “centralized grid network is most prevalent in developed economies, while there is more exploration and implementation of alternative means of accessing electricity in developing economies, given historical electricity access deficits.” https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352407/morocco-ranks-7th-in-climate-change-performance-index-2023

By paper and tablet, colors and detail, Arabic and English and Islam and agnosticism, Rim Chouaf and her artwork reuse and reconnect tradition with modernity. “Moroccans are known for being bilingual,” she says, and similarly, such dynamism reaches far beyond the realm of language. She demonstrates her artistic process; of initially starting in her sketchbook and uploading these images into Photoshop, utilizing both traditional methods of brainstorming and modern techniques of digital manipulation. Then, with the help of her digital sketching tablet, she traces the part of the image’s structure that she wants to emphasize which provides a sharp contrast to the initial sketch through line design. She then engages in her favorite part of the creative process: color expression. As an artist who is also pursuing graduate studies in marketing next year, her work largely relies on color theory and aesthetics, creating a tinted atmosphere of color that connotes intimacy, anxiety, or other intense emotional experiences to deliver a comprehensible message. “Colors portray more than the details,” she claims, “so I just get bored of the details.” For Rim, her reliance on color expression is also connected to LGBTQ+ activism. Mostly using hues of soft pinks and blues, she focuses her work on queerness and dysphoria, addressing the transgender community by using its flag’s colors. Her work comes at a critical time, as the Moroccan online campaign to counter LGBTQ+ activism, entitled #Fetrah (translated as “instinct”), has gone viral in the past month. To show support for the counter campaign, users post a blue and pink colored flag to symbolize the gender binary: male and female. Rim asserts, however, that such a campaign has not redefined the trans flag colors and continues to use these colors in their authentic manner. Yet it’s not solely her use of colors that correlates with emotional expression. Despite growing up in a society where most did not speak English, Rim found meaning within the language. “I feel like I can express myself more in English than both French and Darija, (Moroccan colloquial Arabic), because especially when it comes to feelings, Darija is not the best,” she says. She narrates her past experiences in therapy. Her provider only spoke Arabic and French, quite usual among the older generations. “I had to bring my friend to help translate my emotions!” she laughs. Even then, she claims, there are few words in Darija to truly express her emotional state at times; thus she utilizes English as a “safe space” and finds it as a more authentic representation of her identity. Language and Culture Because language is culture, how is Rim so capable of finding identity within English while not finding the same comfort within her native language? She cites her cousins from the US as a primary influence, along with social media, on her interest in studying the language throughout childhood. Now, given her interest in marketing and the role of English as an international language, she has gained a fluency comparable to a native English speaker. But a modern emphasis of individuality that is interwoven throughout Western social culture is reflected in language. Do some languages focus more on communal welfare underpinned by a different ethical outlook, rather than personal expression that has become the status quo of the modern age? Moroccan society is closely tied to Sufism, or Islamic mysticism. The streets are traced with Sufi lodges (zaawayas) where mystics engage in multiple practices, one being communal dhikr, or remembrance of God. Following the rhythms of God’s name, they enter a trance-like state together. In reflection, when conjugating a verb into first person singular in Moroccan Arabic, a speaker translates identical to the verb conjugation for the first person collective in Classical Arabic, aside from the additional dialect letter prefix. Then, when conjugating for the first person collective in Moroccan, a speaker begins with the classical collective yet adds the classical suffix to indicate plurality to the verb form. The speaker is left with a plural of an already made plural verb as the first person collective in Moroccan Colloquial Dialect. Although linguists are not certain why this is the case as it’s only found in surrounding North African countries, some speculate that it originated from Morocco’s historic Sufi influence, as “a spoken variety [of Moroccan Arabic] that is neither codified nor standardized” contains the influences of “Classical [Quranic] Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, [and the variety of dialects within] Moroccan Arabic,” says linguist Moha Ennaji. “I” truly signifies “we;” we are all from the same Source, and to that Source we shall all return. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352347/authentically-moroccan-how-one-artist-is-blending-modernity-and-tradition

Rabat - Despite his injury, Morocco’s international football player Amine Harit will accompany the Atlas Lions to the World Cup in Qatar. Morocco’s Royal Football Federation (FRMF) President Fouzi Lekjaa wants Harit to join the national team, allowing the injured Atlas Lion to benefit from the “bonuses” the World Cup squad can earn through a strong performance at the global football tournament. A source within the FRMF confirmed the news to Moroccan news outlet Le360, adding that Harit’s father will likely accompany his son to Qatar. Harit, who plays for Olympique Marseille, suffered a serious knee injury during a match against AS Monaco on Sunday. The injury will likely leave Harit on the bench for several months. The player incurred his injury in the 58th minute of the game, after coming into contact with Monaco’s Axel Disasi. The injury came just a few days after Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui included Harit in his 26-man lineup for the 2021 World Cup. The football player received overwhelming support and messages of solidarity from the national team and Olympique Marseille. “He got injured just before the World Cup, we have been talking about it all week, I’m very sad,” Olympique Marseille Igor Tudor said following the injury. Harit’s teammate Matteo Guendouzi also regretted the injury, and expressed compassion for Harit. “It seems to me to be a bit serious,” he said, stressing that Harit’s dream to play with Morocco’s national team in the World Cup in Qatar is now in doubt. Disasi, Monaco’s key player also expressed sadness over Harit’s injury, stressing that the incident was an accident. The football player, however, denounced racist attacks against him saying that he and his family had received insults. “The insults towards my family, the racism, the disclosure of my telephone number … are unacceptable and incomprehensible things in 2022,” Disasi said. As the countdown for the World Cup continues there are now only four days to go before the largest football competition starts, on November 20 with the opening match pitting Ecuador against host Qatar. Morocco’s first World Cup match will take place on November 23, with a tough opening game against 2018 World Cup finalist Croatia. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352411/world-cup-moroccos-harit-to-travel-to-qatar-for-moral-support-despite-injury

On February 16th, Take-Two Interactive and Netflix confirmed earlier rumors that a BioShock movie adaptation would be produced by Vertigo Entertainment. In late August, Francis Lawrence (Constantine, I Am Legend, Hunger Games Sparrow, Slumberland, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Constantine 2) was officially picked as the film's director. Speaking to Collider as part of an interview conducted during the Slumberland press tour, Lawrence talked extensively about the BioShock movie. To begin with, he explained what makes the IP unique among videogames, possibly allowing this franchise to transition more smoothly to live action adaptations. First of all, I think it's one of the best games ever created. It's also, I think, one of the most visually unique games ever created. The other thing, and one of the things that always appeals to me, is it is very thematic. There's real ideas and philosophies underneath the game property, and it's really, really, really thought out. A lot of games may have a great world of some kind, or they may have a great lead character, or they may tee you up for great set pieces, but they don't really have the ideas, they don't have the kind of weight and the gravitas that Bioshock does. The sort of combo of real ideas and philosophies mixed with the unbelievable aesthetic of it. Plus, one of the other things that I love, love, love is that sort of strange mashup of genre, the idea that you have what feels like a period piece mixed with body horror, mixed with sci-fi. It's one of those great mashups, and I think it can be really unique and really beautiful and really entertaining. [...] When I think about that, I go back to what we talked about earlier, which is I think that there's some great video games out there, but they don't always have the weight of actual ideas underneath them. Sometimes they have a great aesthetic or something like that, but I feel like often they end up feeling empty because they're not built from real ideas. The thing is, BioShock really is. The whole mythology of that world and the ideas behind it all, there's just so much there. Lawrence also stressed that he wants to stay true to the games. As part of that, he's talking to Take-Two and specifically to franchise creator Ken Levine (who is now otherwise busy). Last but not least, the director believes he could be working on the BioShock movie next because writer Michael Green (Logan, Alien: Covenant, Blade Runner 2049, Murder on the Orient Express, The Call of the Wild, Jungle Cruise, and Death on the Nile) is currently in the middle of writing the plot. If that's the case, we could see it on Netflix in the next couple of years or so. That's also a likely ballpark for when the next BioShock game could be released, by the way. The new installment was announced roughly three years ago, and we're possibly due for an unveiling at some point in 2023. Meanwhile, rumors point to Antarctica as the game's setting. https://wccftech.com/bioshock-movie-has-ken-levine-involved-in-some-capacity-director-explains-what-makes-the-ip-unique/

NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card officially launches today with an MSRP of $1199 US and here's where you can buy one. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Graphics Card Now Available For $1199 US, Available In Various Custom Flavors Yesterday, we posted our review of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card which offers a big improvement over its predecessor in terms of performance and efficiency. While the gains are big, the price is also big, in fact, our main issue with the card is its price which is the single largest price bump for a graphics card we have seen to date. The RTX 3080 was priced at $699 US and the RTX 4080 costs $1199 US. That's a $500 US increase or a 71.5% increase. Even compared to the 3080 12 GB, this is a 35% increase and we aren't even taking the custom models into the equation yet which are priced at a $100-$200 US premium. Several retailers have already listed the card which would be available at 6 AM Pacific Time today on the 16th of November. Following are a few links where you can buy the card: The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 will use 76 SMs of the 84 SMs for a total of 9728 CUDA cores. The GPU will come packed with 64 MB of L2 cache and a total of 112 ROPs which is simply insane. The clock speeds for the graphics card are rated at 2210 MHz base and 2510 MHz boost clocks and we have already seen over 3 GHz speeds with overclocking which you can read more about here. As for memory specs, the GeForce RTX 4080 features 16 GB GDDR6X capacities that will be adjusted at 22.5 Gbps speeds across a 256-bit bus interface. This will provide up to 720 GB/s of bandwidth. This is still a tad bit slower than the 760 GB/s bandwidth offered by the RTX 3080 since it comes with a 320-bit interface but a lowly 10 GB capacity. To compensate for the lower bandwidth, NVIDIA could be integrating a next-gen memory compression suite to make up for the 256-bit interface. As far as the power consumption is concerned, the TBP is rated at 320W. The card will be powered by a single 16-pin connector which delivers up to 600W of power. Custom models will be offering higher TBP targets. Now we are definitely not going to recommend the card entirely at this price point and would rather suggest that people wait to see what AMD has an offer with its Radeon RX 7900 series since their internal benchmarks are showcasing some impressive performance per dollar versus the RTX 4080. Let us know your thoughts on what graphics card will you be willing to purchase from the high-end stack available at the moment. https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080-graphics-card-launches-today-starting-for-1199-us-heres-where-to-buy/

Rabat - The general consulate of Morocco in Turkiye reported that two Moroccan tourists suffered injuries during the explosion that hit Istiklal Avenue, a busy area in central Istanbul on Sunday. The first victim suffered from fractures in her legs, while the second victim did not require hospitalization. Morocco has set up a crisis unit reachable through different lines. People wishing to seek help from Turkiye can dial +905352067735. People calling from Morocco to inquire about their relatives in Turkiye can dial 0537676350, 0537676353, or 0537676251. The consulate in Istanbul called on all Moroccan nationals in Istanbul to exercise the “utmost vigilance and to comply with the instructions of the Turkish authorities.” It also emphasized its mobilization to continue to monitor the situation of all Moroccans in Istanbul. The explosion, which killed at least eight and injured over 80 people, sparked uproar worldwide. Turkiye is accusing Kurdish militants in northern Syria of the bombing. Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said today that the attack was planned, accusing militants from the Kurdistan Workers’ party (PPK) and the People Defense Units (YPG). Turkiye, along with the US, and EU identify the PKK as a terrorist group. Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said that security services noticed a woman who sat on a bench for 45 minutes and left moments prior to the blast. Turkish security services arrested 46 people over the explosion, including the woman who appeared in several photos, leaving a package below a raised flower bed on Istiklal avenue. Police said the woman was trained by Kurdish militants. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352372/istanbul-explosion-2-moroccans-among-injured-victims

The 2024 Porsche Macan EV will ride on the company's new remium Platform Electric (PPE), and the German automaker has released new details about PPE and the upcoming crossover. The Macan EV will max out at 603 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, and Porsche is promising sharp driving dynamics. The 100.0-kWh battery will be able to charge from five to 80 percent in under 25 minutes thanks to an 800-volt electrical system. Porsche is investing in synthetic, carbon-neutral fuels in a bid to keep its much-loved internal-combustion engines alive in an ever-stricter regulatory environment. But even so, Porsche's future, like that of every other car company, will be centered around electric vehicles. By 2030, Porsche hopes to have more than 80 percent of its sales consist of EVs. Critical to this goal will be the PPE platform, co-developed with Audi, which will underpin Porsche's high-volume electric cars. The upcoming Macan EV will be the first Porsche to ride on PPE, and at a recent event at the Porsche Experience Center in Franciacorta, Italy, the German automaker revealed juicy new details about the platform and the electric crossover that will herald its arrival. Porsche is promising that the fully electric Macan will bring improved range and charging and Porsche's typical sharp handling. The PPE platform will, like on the Taycan, utilize a 800-volt electrical architecture. Along with slashing charging times, Porsche says this reduces the weight of the high-voltage cables and how much space they take up. Every electric Macan will use a lithium-ion battery mounted in the floor of the vehicle with a gross capacity of approximately 100.0 kWh, made up of twelve modules with prismatic cells. Charging rates will improve over the Taycan's 270 kW, with Porsche targeting the ability to recharge the Macan EV from five to 80 percent in under 25 minutes. Porsche is also packaging the onboard AC charger, high-voltage heater, and DC/DC converter together in what it calls the Integrated Power Box to save space. Porsche has also developed a neat trick called "bank charging." If the charging station uses a 400-volt system, the Macan EV's 800-volt battery is effectively split into two 400-volt batteries that can be charged at the same time. However, most DC fast-chargers in the United States already employ 800-volt architecture, so this technology will be less relevant here than in other markets. The PPE platform will allow for rear- and all-wheel-drive setups, with the maximum output initially set at around 603 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. Vehicles riding on the platform will be powered by permanently excited synchronous electric motors, which will bring higher power and torque densities, improved efficiency, and more easily reproducible power outputs versus asynchronous motors. The Macan EV has revised the magnet arrangements within the motors and improved the cooling system compared to the Taycan, which Porsche says boosts the power density. Silicon carbide is also replacing silicon for the semiconductor material in the inverter on the rear axle to decrease switching losses. A one-speed gearbox will be used instead of the two-speed unit in the Taycan. Porsche claims that the Macan EV will be the "sportiest model in its segment," thanks to what Porsche refers to as a "performance rear axle." The rear electric motor will be mounted behind the rear axle, recalling the positioning of the flat-six engine in the 911 sports car and shifting the weight balance rearwards to a 48/52 percent split. Porsche argues that this will improve "agility when accelerating out of corners." https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a41943729/porsche-2024-macan-ev-ppe-platform-details/

Rabat - The Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection is partnering with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) to launch a climate mitigation initiative. Dubbed “Just Transition in Africa: Green Skills, Behavior Change and Social Dialogue,” the initiative was announced on Saturday on the sidelines of the global climate summit COP 27 held this year in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. The initiative aims to raise awareness on the importance of training workers and supporting them to adapt to new economic challenges that climate change poses. Present at the launching of the project was Secretary General of the Foundation Mohammed VI for the Protection of the Environment Nouzha Alaoui, and President of the CGEM Chakib Alj. Speaking on the occasion, Alj recalled that Africa is the continent that contributes the least carbon dioxide emissions but remains the most affected by climate change. Alj further insisted that climate change hinders developmental efforts in Africa. He further underscored the need for addressing the impact of climate change on key economic sectors, as well as on food security, noting that climate change is already triggering a rise in poverty levels and widening social disparities. Morocco, like other African countries, is facing significant socio-economic challenges that are greatly attributed to climate change. In recent years, climate change resulted in a wave of acute drought, and reduced the share of water per capita, Alj added. A global transition to low-carbon economies remains a necessity, he argued, adding that most of the climate commitments of African countries have been stronger than the global average, reflecting the continent's commitment to climate issues. Highlighting Morocco’s commitment to addressing the climate challenge, Alj said that the country is committed to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030. The ambition to reduce greenhouse gas requires investments of nearly $40 billion. Rabat - Security services in Turkiye arrested 46 people, including a Syrian woman, for alleged involvement in the deadly Istanbul explosion. Reuters said that the woman, identified as Ahlam Albashir, confessed that she was trained by Kurdish militants in Syria. Albashir reportedly entered Turkiye through northwest Syria’s Afrin region. Turkish broadcaster TRT released footage showing the woman, with curly hair and a purple jumper being brought into police headquarters. Security services arrested the suspect in her apartment, using police dogs to search her home. Police seized gold, money, and ammunition during the search. Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said on Monday that the arrested suspects included the person who “left the bomb that caused the explosion.” The Turkish government has accused the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) of the attack. “Our assessment is that the order for the deadly terror attack came from Ain al-Arab [Kobane] in northern Syria,” the minister said. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that the blast “smells like terrorism.” The explosion killed eight people and injured over 80 people. Two Moroccans are among the injured victims. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. News reports have shown images of a woman who left a package below a raised flower bed in Istiklal avenue prior to the explosion. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352373/syrian-woman-among-46-people-arrested-in-connection-with-istanbul-explosion

With the Google Pixel 6 series, Google has been pushing the software more than the hardware. The Pixel series is now defined by how good the software experience is, and seems like Google is not just keeping itself limited to the phones as the company wants the same ethos flowing through cars. The company has now partnered with Renault, and together, both companies are looking to develop a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) that will feature advanced AI capabilities along with new in-car services. Google and Renault are Looking to Make 'Vehicle of Tomorrow' Powered by AI in order to develop the supposed "Vehicle of Tomorrow," Google will first work towards creating a Digital Twin of the vehicle. The Digital Twin in question will offer advanced AI-powered features, and it will also serve as a reference point for Renault and Google to bring new AI features and in-car services, as well. Renault talks about how the virtual vehicle will pave the way "for an easier and continuous integration of new services into the vehicle and the creation of new onboard (In-Car Services) and offboard applications." Simply put, the Digital Twin will serve as a virtual playground for Renault and Google to introduce new features and quickly bring them to the actual vehicle. Talking about Renault's plans for the "Vehicle of Tomorrow," Luca de Meo, the company's CEO, shared the following, 'The complexity of the electronic architecture of cars is increasing exponentially, driven by the sophistication of the functionalities and services expected by customers. Equipped with a shared IT platform, continuous over-the-air updates, and streamlined access to car data, the SDV approach developed in partnership with Google will transform our vehicles to help serve future customers' needs." Renault also has plans to expand its Google Cloud Technology for the SDV for the following in-development scenarios: Predictive maintenance and better detection and rectification of failures in near real-time if necessary. A personalized experience onboard the vehicle (In-Car Services) to adapt to driving behaviors, often-used destinations such as EV Charging Stations, etc. Insurance models based on actual usage and driving behaviors. You can read more about the new Google and Renault partnership here. Looking at this partnership, things are certainly looking good for both Google and Renault, however, we will have to wait and see how things work out for the companies, and what the results are. https://wccftech.com/google-and-renault-have-partnered-to-develop-a-software-defined-vehicle/

Rabat- The Moroccan Observatory for Digital Sovereignty (OMSN) organized the first national conference on digital sovereignty on November 10 in Rabat. The event provided an opportunity for reflection and discussion on Morocco's digital sovereignty, technological infrastructure, and digital development. Speaking to Morocco World News, Mustapha Meloui, the President of the Moroccan Observatory for Digital Sovereignty (OMSN), said: “Today, digitalisation is a driving force behind social and economic development, and the topic of digital sovereignty interests everyone.” “Through the organization of this conference, we hope to open a national debate around this topic [digital sovereignty], dissect the current situation by diagnosing the state of Morocco's technological infrastructure in terms of data center, cloud, and so on,” Meloui said. “I think it’s very important to have initiatives like this because they give us the chance to engage in conversation with leaders and decision-makers and to connect the unconnected,” Social innovator and entrepreneur Ahmed Larouz said. As a member of the Moroccan diaspora, Larouz told MWN: “We are attempting to contribute to this emerging digitalization in Morocco, as well as to add value from our global expertise and determine how to draw more diaspora.” “This initiative comes as evidence that Morocco is accelerating its digital development; there are a lot of projects being done on the legal side of the digital industry, as well as on the technology and education sides,” tech entrepreneur and CEO of Algo Consulting Group, and co-founder and President of La Marocaine des e-Services Tarik Fadli noted. Fadli noted the partnership agreement Morocco's national police department (DGSN) signed earlier this week with the nation's central bank, Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM), and the National Commission for the Control of Personal Data Protection (CNDP) to strengthen data security in the country. The tech entrepreneur described the agreement as a significant step toward Morocco's provision of online public and private services.Speaking on the sidelines of the OMSN conference, Sarah Lamrani, Secretary General of the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, highlighted the significance of the event while noting that digital sovereignty is one of the main challenges that must be addressed in order to mobilize technology for Morocco's development. Lamrani added that the new development model has specifically emphasized the significance of strengthening the legal framework to uphold the stakeholders' and users' digital trust. Morocco is implementing several strategies to achieve digital sovereignty, including the acceleration of the production of legal texts on cybersecurity. It is also strengthening its legal framework with the adoption of several laws, including Law No. 05.20 on cyber security among others. Additionally, Morocco has ratified several international conventions, including the African Union Convention on Cybersecurity and Personal Data Protection, and the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime. OMSN Vice-President Ali Khoujmane praised the observatory's initiative, noting that Morocco is a leader in Africa and serves as an example to other countries, which is why it must continue to progress in its digitization process. Khoujmane also stressed the need for an ecosystem that promotes research, youth, and collaboration, while noting that there are many challenges to innovation, particularly on the legal front, which is why organizations like OMSN are important because they help coordinate work with government entities. An ecosystem rich in expertise within the legal industry, IT, data management, and security could help to accelerate digital transformation, provide comprehensive solutions, and foster a proactive approach. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352325/omsn-organizes-first-national-conference-on-digital-sovereignty
