  2. Rabat - Morocco’s Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) are organizing the African edition of the Applied Machine Learning Days (AMLD), from November 3 to 5, at UM6P in Benguerir. During the first day of the event, AMLD member Kamil Seghrouchni explained to Morocco World News that the conference is about the democratization of machine learning with a focus on the problems that the African continent is currently facing in the areas of healthcare, education, and agriculture. Additionally, the event seeks to support African talent and youth. Ambassador of Switzerland to Morocco Guillaume Scheurer emphasized the event's significance for Africa and the youth, stating that “every company seeking growth needs to have a better understanding and capacity in Artificial Intelligence.” The event created a new bridge between Switzerland and Africa, providing an excellent opportunity for exchange and promoting the use of digital technologies. Dr. Lawrence Nderu from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology told MWN: “The relevance of technology, extracting patterns from multiple data in healthcare and agriculture, is big and Africa must be at the heart of it.” Speaking on the sidelines of AMLD, UM6P President Hicham El Habti explained that machine learning is not an “end in itself” in science and technology, but rather a “useful tool for catalyzing growth in all fields.” El Habti highlighted AI’s major role in developing the COVID vaccine, as it was a “defining factor in sorting through dense data points and anticipating scenarios.” Besides its implementation in healthcare, AI can be implemented in agriculture as well. It can provide farmers with insights from their fields and “turn disparate weather and climate data into actionable recommendations, all accessible from a smartphone,” UM6P's president stressed. Additionally, Artificial Intelligence serves as a tool for cultural preservation. Thanks to its capacity to process data at record speed, dialects such as Moroccan darija can now be codified, learned, and digitized due to smart pattern recognition. El Habti also highlighted Africa’s development in the field of AI, saying that “with a 43% Internet penetration rate, Africa is uniquely positioned to further benefit from the virtues of artificial intelligence in order to accelerate development.” Associate director and senior principal data scientist at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) Valeria De Luca told MWN that “the power of AI lies in its ability to help accelerate the decision making process and automate many things.” She continued: “Events like this can help spread the importance of machine learning.” The conference featured speakers from public entities, private multinational technology companies, and emerging startups who shared their expertise on how artificial intelligence can be used to solve real-world issues in Africa. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352213/amld-africa-solving-real-world-problems-through-machine-learning
  3. Today AMD unveiled it’s latest RDNA-3-powerered graphics cards, including the Radeon RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX, but they also provided some updates on their partnerships with publishers. The big revelation is that AMD and Ubisoft have partnered to optimize the new version of the Snowdrop engine, which will power Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Massive Entertainment’s Star Wars project, and the Splinter Cell remake, amongst other titles. AMD showed off a brief Snowdrop Engine tech demo (you can check it out for yourself at this timestamp) featuring ray-traced global illumination, shadows, and more. Thankfully, a “highly optimized” implementation of AMD ray tracing allows for impressive performance despite the visual bells and whistles. At 4K with high-performance ray tracing enabled, the demo runs at over 80fps with the help of FSR. It’s not entirely clear how the performance of this Snowdrop Engine demo will translate to an actual game like Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, but AMD GPU owners excited about Ubisoft’s future slate probably have nothing to worry about. AMD also took some time to briefly touch on a couple of already-announced partnerships with The Callisto Protocol and Forspoken. On The Callisto Protocol, AMD promises ray tracing is going to be used to “full effect” with shadows, translucency, and glossy refractions at play to maximize that creepy horror atmosphere. At “4K and higher” resolutions, AMD promises RX 7900 cards will deliver “incredible framerates”. Meanwhile, Forspoken offers ray traced lighting and shadows, and will make full use of FSR and VRR allowing it to run “incredibly fast.” If you’d like to catch up on everything AMD announced today, here’s the lowdown the Radeon RX 7900 XT and the Radeon RX 7900 XTX. In addition to that, AMD also announced FSR 3, which they promise will deliver double the performance boost of FSR 2 thanks to new fluid frame technology. https://wccftech.com/avatar-star-wars-snowdrop-engine-amd-patnership-rx-7900-xtx-80fps-4k-rt/

  5. ASUS & EK Water Blocks have become the first AIBs to announce custom designs for AMD's Radeon RX 7900 XTX & 7900 XT graphics cards. ASUS & EK Water Block Ready With Custom AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX & 7900 XT Air-Cooled & Water Block Designs AMD has officially unveiled its Radeon RX 7900 XTX & 7900 XT graphics cards and as such, partners are ready with their custom cooling solutions. During its latest Livestream on the ROG Channel, the manufacturer confirmed that they will be offering their next-gen Radeon RX 7900 XTX & 7900 XT in TUF Gaming variants. The ASUS Radeon RX 7900 XTX & 7900 XT TUF Gaming graphics cards will feature a triple-slot cooler and a triple-fan design with a solid aluminum shroud and the orange/grey aesthetic that TUF series is known for. The graphics card renders show that the card features four full-sized display outputs (HDMI 2.1 and DP 2.1). The graphics cards will come in both OC and Non-OC flavors. There's no info regarding prices but we are expected to get more details on these and additional variants soon. As for EK, the water blocks maker is already ready with a full-on design for the reference AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card. EK says that their latest Quantum Vector water block has been designed specifically to cool the MCDs in addition to the GPU. Following is the full presser: EK-Quantum Vector² RX 7900 XTX D-RGB Press Release: The EK-Quantum Vector² RX 7900 XTX D-RGB is the first Vector² water block for Radeon GPUs, featuring full EK-Matrix7 compatibility. They are engineered exclusively for the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPUs. This liquid cooling solution encompasses a Vector² series water block and a black-anodized aluminum backplate in the same package. Like the rest of the Vector² series water blocks, the look is dominated by minimalistic straight lines and the backplate coming around the side of the GPU to cover the PCB in its entirety. What differs from all other Vector² water blocks is that the cooling engine for this water block has been rotated 90°, so the fins are perpendicular to the die. For optimal delta, the coolant flows over the graphics core die first, and the memory cache die after. Consequently, all MCDs get the same temperature coolant thanks to the high-precision 3D-machined acrylic jet insert. Fin density has been increased from 0,6/0,4 to 0,4/0,26mm to account for the increased power dissipation requirement from the new Graphics Core Die and six MCDs. The Vector² cooling engine combines the jet plate with a 3D-machined Plexi insert to improve flow distribution and thermal performance. This cooling engine is based on an Open Split-Flow cooling engine design, which proved to be a superior solution for GPU water blocks. It is characterized by low hydraulic flow restriction, meaning it can be used with weaker water pumps or pumps running on low-speed settings and still achieve top performance. All Vector² GPU water blocks use an 11-mm thick copper coldplate with a directly attached acetal terminal and a robust single O-ring top design for fewer possible points of failure. This simple construction provides confidence during customization and maintenance. Two distinctive and unique D-RGB lighting options are now available to complement the material choice of the product: Nickel + Plexi and Nickel + Acetal. Both versions include a black-anodized aluminum backplate and a base that is CNC-machined out of nickel-plated electrolytic copper. The backplate also provides additional passive cooling to the back side of the PCB, further improving the cooling capacity of the water block. The EK-Quantum Vector² RX 7900 XTX D-RGB water blocks are available for pre-order through EK Webshop and Partner resellers. The first water blocks will start shipping out in early December. The table below shows the manufacturer-suggested retail price (MSRP), VAT included. https://wccftech.com/asus-ek-unveil-radeon-rx-7900-xtx-7900-xt-custom-models-water-blocks-tuf-gaming-in-oc-flavors/
  6. Rabat - In a survey of almost 23,000 participants from October 2021 to July 2022 across 10 countries in the MENA region investigating racial discrimination and “anti-blackness,” The Arab Barometer unveiled “unprecedented insight into the everyday lives of Arab citizens.” The Arab Barometer’s 7th wave study is the first of its kind to “systematically examine the degree to which citizens across MENA perceive racial discrimination and anti-black discrimination to be a problem in their countries.” The report’s findings According to the report, Morocco reports the highest amount of racial discrimination. The data shows that almost a third of Moroccan citizens state they were “targets of racist comments at least once,” followed by Sudanese participants with a report rate of 27%. The most common reaction found when experiencing racial abuse was to ignore it, but Morocco had the lowest ranking when it came to ignoring the issue with a score of 35%. Morocco ranked the highest when it came to those who reacted in a physical manner with 26%, and Jordan ranked the lowest with 6%. Even fewer victims chose to respond by reporting an incident to an authority figure. Morocco had the second highest report rate behind Sudan, with 9% compared to Sudan’s 10%. Despite this data, there are very few instances where citizens in Morocco and other MENA countries reported either anti-black or racial discrimination to any kind of authority, something that the author of the report found particularly interesting. The report notably highlights Tunisia as unique compared to other countries in the MENA region as it is the only country that criminalizes acts of racial discrimination by law. Morocco World News spoke with the author Nisrine Hilizah, MA in Arab Studies Candidate at the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University in Washington DC. Morocco stands out Hilizah noted how Morocco stood out in the data explaining how it is one of few countries where citizens deemed anti-black discrimination to be a greater problem than that of racial discrimination. The study showed that 43% of Moroccans believe anti-black discrimination is a problem, compared to 37% who said racial discrimination is more problematic. The report divulged the long history of anti-black racism in Morocco, noting that the North African country has long been a transit site for migrants and refugees aiming to reach Europe. As of 2021, there were 700,000 sub-Saharan migrants living in Morocco according to the Arab Barometer. Additionally, 40% of Moroccans think that racial discrimination against sub-Saharan migrants is a problem to a great or medium extent. Hilizah concludes that the data from the survey suggests there is an awareness and understanding in Morocco that racism is prevalent, especially discrimination against black people and sub-Saharan migrants in the country. The Global Detention Project noted that these migrants are vulnerable to “a range of human rights abuses, helping fan the flames of racism targeting sub-Saharan Africans, encouraging forced displacements, and spurring new forms of ad hoc detention situations.” Racism against sub-Saharan Africans in Morocco gained recognition earlier this year, when reports about the kidnapping of 13 year-old Fatima Zahra in Casablanca detailed that she was taken by a “group of sub-Saharan Africans.” Unveiling deep rooted issues with racism in Morocco, the widely publicized story drove internet users to make racist remarks towards the sub-Saharan community. Racial vs anti-black discrimination Notably, the study contains two principal categories. One refers to racial discrimination and the other being anti-black discrimination, differentiating how MENA citizens percieve each one to be a problem in their country and to what extent. Hilizah explained to MWN that it is important to have the separation because the Arab Barometer’s data showed an evident difference in how the participants understand racial discrimination against specifically anti-black discrimintation. As an example, Hilizah pointed out that the majority of the countries surveyed concluded that racial discrimination in their countries is a serious problem. However, only a small minority of citizens (except in Tunisia and Sudan) report that anti-black discrimination is a problem to a great or medium extent. The prevalent gap could be explained by a number of factors, the writer detailed, one being the sensitive nature of the topic. “There tends to be a culture of silence…so some people may not want to openly engage in discussion surrounding racism, leading to denial that it exists,” Hilizah said. Another explanation Hilizah gave is that the terminology of the wording used in English (“racial discrimination” and “anti-black discrimination”) does not translate literally from the Arabic term used in the survey. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352169/arab-barometer-43-of-moroccans-consider-anti-black-racism-a-problem

  8. Porsche is adding a new appearance package to the 718 Boxster and Cayman called the Style Edition. It adds color-coordinated exterior elements and a few interior extras. We don't have a final cost for the package, but it will be available to U.S. customers starting in 2023. Porsche's long list of individual options offers all sorts of ways to customize the look of your car, but certain styling packages like the new Style Edition versions of the 2023 718 Boxster and Cayman are like a shortcut. With a specially selected set of visual upgrades, these packages tie things together nicely, especially when combined with an eye-catching new exterior color like the Ruby Star Neo paint seen here on the Boxster. The standard version of the Style Edition features black 20-inch wheels from the Boxster Spyder with colored center crests, black sport tailpipes. Inside, it adds a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, floor mats with Chalk stitching, Porsche crests embossed on the headrests, and illuminated side sills. If you pay a bit more, you can also add black or white hood stripes and side graphics that match with either black or white wheels. Porsche has yet to reveal U.S. pricing for these packages, but we reckon they will cost a few thousand dollars extra on top of base prices of $64,850 for the Cayman and $66,950 for the Boxster. They will be available for the base Boxster and Cayman, which come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter flat-four with 300 horsepower and either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission. 9. Rabat- Moroccan author and Chief Happiness Officer Mounia Tazi launched a book titled “Happiness in the Balance: Achieving Harmony in Work and Life.” Morocco World News interviewed the author for an in-depth look at the book. The book emphasizes the significance of striking a balance between work and life. It also explains why workplace happiness is an important issue for businesses today, especially in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, the book provides managers and executives with useful tools to boost productivity and improve business performance. The power of gratitude is also one of the themes tackled in the book. The Moroccan author's personal search for happiness has inspired her to write the book. Tazi told MWN: “I started studying strategies and tools to use in my personal life in my quest for happiness. I then implemented them while successfully coaching managers to improve their productivity and the work environment in their companies.” The author shared her motive for writing the book explaining how she wants to share the knowledge that she gained through research and “to help people find happiness.” Morocco’s first Chief Happiness Officer Tazi is Morocco’s first Chief Happiness Officer (CHO) as she advocates for the importance of happiness in the workplace. She explained that CHOs “act as the liaison between management and employees to create an environment that will increase overall happiness,” she continued. “They have a specific budget to invest in various activities that promote employee well-being and happiness” citing training courses and group yoga classes as examples. The Moroccan writer founded Happy Nation Boost to raise awareness about workplace happiness and its benefits to employee health and company success. The movement also serves as a platform for sharing best practices and tools for finding happiness. Tips and tricks for happiness The Moroccan author recalled holding workshops in universities and businesses in 2017 to teach students, managers, and employees how to adopt a positive mindset. She stressed that having a positive mindset is key to a successful and long-lasting career saying that “you can rewire your brain and train it to have new positive habits such as solving issues and creating rather than dwelling on why the problem happened.” A positive mindset can be developed by practicing positive habits, she reiterated, adding that “happiness does not happen by chance,” and that a strategy is necessary to achieve happiness in personal life or at work. “We have created an HPNS application to measure employees’ happiness and help them build positive habits with daily exercises,” Tazi told MWN. “The application will be launched in October and will be available for companies hoping to include happiness at work in their management strategies.” The Moroccan author also touched on the importance of communication among coworkers and workplace democracy. She explained that when employees feel heard and valued, they are more likely to be engaged and happy in their jobs. When asked to share the most effective tips for achieving work-life balance, Tazi urged people to have a plan, focus on individual strengths, take action, celebrate the results, and keep moving forward. “It has become my mantra. I am sure it will work for everyone,” she said. Tazi graduated in leadership and management and studied positive psychology. In 2017, she volunteered as a facilitator at The Happiness Summit in Miami, where she met Alexander Kjerulf, one of the world's leading experts on workplace happiness. Her meeting with Kjerulf inspired her to apply for CHO training. She later graduated as a Chief Officer of Happiness from the Woohoo Academy of Happiness at Work in Copenhagen, Denmark. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352155/moroccan-author-mounia-tazi-highlights-importance-of-work-life-harmony

  12. Earlier in October, Linus Henze showcased the Fugu15 jailbreak on an iPhone running Apple's iOS 15.4.1 operating system. The semi-untethered jailbreak featured a new installation method. Now, Henze has released the Fugu15 jailbreak for compatible iPhone models running iOS 15. While you can download the tool from GitHub right now, it comes with a massive catch. Scroll down to read more details on the subject. Fugu15 Untethered Jailbreak Tool Released to Developers For Compatible iPhone Models Running iOS 15 As mentioned earlier, Linus Henze announced the Fugu15 jailbreak for iOS 15 on Twitter. Before you head over to Henze's GitHub page and download the tool, you should know that it is primarily oriented toward developers. This is because there are no iOS 15 or iPadOS 15-supported jailbreak tweaks due to the absence of the tweak injection library. This is the same issue that is delaying the Cheyote jailbreak from Odyssey. If you are unfamiliar, Henze's Fugu15 is a semi-untethered and perma-signed jailbreak app that supports some arm64e devices. In addition to this, it is also capable of running Procursus bootstrap with the Sileo package manager. A semi-untethered jailbreak means that it does not require a computer to jailbreak. However, you will have to jailbreak every time your device is rebooted. Since the Fugu15 jailbreak for iOS 15 features a CoreTrust bug that constitutes a code-signing bypass, it is signed indefinitely. If you are interested in giving it a shot, the jailbreak tool can be installed on your iPhone running iOS 15 using Safari through a domain or on a Mac using Xcode. As mentioned earlier, the Fugu15 jailbreak for iOS 15 is intended for developers. Since it is not compatible with the tweaks available, it would render useless for the average person. In addition to this, the Fugu15 jailbreak release is crawling with bugs. Henze has shared the list of devices that have been tested with the jailbreak tool. iPhone Xs Max: iOS 15.4.1 iPhone 11 (SRD): iOS 15.4.1 iPhone 12 (SRD): iOS 15.4.1 iPhone 12 Pro Max: iOS 15.4.1 iPhone 13: iOS 15.1 (offline edition - see bugs below [WiFi bug]) At this point, only arm64e devices are compatible with the jailbreak tool such as the iPhone XS and newer models with an A12 chip and the ones that came after. Henze is aware of the bugs and they will be fixed soon. There are no details available on the final release of the Fugu15 jailbreak for iOS 15, so be sure to stick around and we will update you with the latest. This is all there is to it, folks. We will share more details on the jailbreak tool as soon as further information is available. https://wccftech.com/fugu15-jailbreak-released-for-ios-15-but-comes-with-a-catch/
