  1. Intel's 13th Gen CPUs were launched to great reception but just like the previous generation, the Z790 motherboards were the only platform to support overclocking capabilities leaving out B660 owners, however, MSI has a special BIOS which would let users regain the ability to overclock an Intel Raptor Lake unlocked CPU on its B660M Mortar Max WIFI motherboard. B660 & 13th Gen Overclocking? MSI Makes It Possible With Its B660M Mortar MAX WIFI Motherboard, Up To 5.8 GHz OC Achieved on Intel Core i5-13600K So let me tell you first why this news is big for existing MSI B660M Mortar MAX WIFI Motherboard owners. When Intel launched its 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs, they were only overclockable on the Z790 or Z690 motherboards. Owners of the mainstream B660 series motherboards, despite having clock-gen support on a few models, weren't able to overclock the latest chips due to a BIOS lock. In the following screenshot that we were able to acquire, you can note that the BCLK can be adjusted up to 125 MHz: Users could only go as far as 102.9 MHz (BCLK) however MSI has a Special BIOS which will let the user surpass that limit with ease. The Special BIOS is 'E7D97IMS.123U24' and can be downloaded directly from our cloud hosting link below (you can alternatively download it from the Google Drive link here too). MSI B660M Mortar MAX WIFI Motherboard Special BIOS 'Download' E7D97IMS.123U24 With the default BIOS, the CPU will only support a BCLK of up to 102.9 MHz or a 5.25 GHz clock frequency so if you use anything above that BCLK, the motherboard will simply revert to the older version of the CPU microcode (that doesn't support 13th Gen CPUs). With the Special BIOS, however, the MSI B660M Mortar MAX WIFI motherboard can hit a maximum of 113 MHz BCLK with auto voltage, allowing for a 5.76 GHz P-Core and 4.40 GHz E-Core frequency on Intel's Core i5-13600K CPU. That's a +660 MHz P-Core and a +500 MHz E-Core clock bump with 1.25 Volts. With slightly higher voltage, users can even surpass 5.8 GHz P-Core & 4.44 GHz E-Core clocks which are truly impressive. Only at 115 MHz did the performance start to deteriorate since the CPU was hitting its TjMax but it did post 5.86 GHz P-Core and 4.48 GHz E-Core clocks. HKEPC provides the following guide if you want to plan an Intel 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPU such as the Core i5-13600K on the MSI B660M Mortar MAX WIFI motherboard: B-CLK overclocking will not affect DMI and PCIe, so it will not pose a problem to system stability, but the memory will be affected. If you enable the memory XMP Profile, remember to lower the memory multiplier. The physique of each Core i5-13600K / KF is also different. You can slowly test its limit. If you plan to travel 24 X 7 for a long time, it is of course best to run stably without adding voltage. Too much, everything is too much fate is bound to die early. This BIOS is not officially provided. MicroCode has not added the 13th generation Non-K model, and can only support the 13th generation K model CPU. Core i7-13700K / Core i9-13900K has a higher clock speed, and the B-CLK overclocking space is limited, so if I want to play B660 B-CLK OC, I will choose Core i5-13600K, which is more cost-effective and has a larger range. We can already understand why overclocking is locked for Intel's 13th Gen Raptor Lake CPUs on the older B660 motherboards. Having OC enabled on the previous-gen mainstream products will give users no reason to invest in a higher-end and more expensive Z790 or Z690 motherboard. They'll get the same overclocking capabilities and performance out of their existing and cheaper boards. The only downside is that the MSI MAG B660M Mortar MAX WIFI is limited to DDR4 at the moment and we have really started to see the benefits of DDR5 in the 13th Gen lineup. Maybe we'll see MSI launch a successor to the B660M Mortar MAX WIFI based on the B760 chipset early next year with similar overclocking support at a fantastic price? Who knows? https://wccftech.com/msi-b660m-mortar-max-wifi-pushes-intel-core-i5-13600k-to-5-8-ghz-oc-with-new-bios/

  4. Rabat - Morocco's Press Union issued a press release, condemning "insults" made by Moroccan rapper ElGrande Toto against journalists during his trial. The union claimed that Toto verbally attacked journalists reporting on his trial, and that he tried to threathen them and prevent them from conducting their duties. The union's press release said that it "respects the right to a fair trial," but that it also considers covering events that interest the general public one of the duties of a journalist, adding that it does not accept any aggression towards reporters from the defendant. The rapper is on bail after a group of artists and lawyers filed lawsuits against him for insults and for his recent remarks promoting the use of cannabis. He made the remarks during a press conference prior to a public concert as part of a government sponsored festival. “We don’t go very far to get weed, it’s just around the corner,” Toto said as part of the Rabat African Capital Festival. “It is known worldwide that Morocco is the birthplace of weed, and people from all over the world come to Morocco to smoke weed,” he went on. The statements were met with public disapproval, followed by condemnation from the Moroccan government, which described them as "unaccpetable." The rapper apologized for the statements in October, but emphasized that he will continue "expressing his art without any modifications." https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352443/morocco-s-press-union-condemns-elgrande-toto-insults-against-journalists
  5. Rabat - Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa plans to sell its blade making factory in Tangier after terminating operations in 2023, according to Reuters. Supply bottlenecks caused by factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine as well as soaring steel and aluminum prices led the manufacturer to reconsider its positioning in Morocco. "The decision was taken from a global perspective that accounted for changing market demands, increased competition, and the impact of a severe supply chain crisis," Siemens Gamesa’s Onshore CEO for South Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Brazil Paulo Fernando Soares told Reuters by email. Siemens Gamesa expects to continue operations in nine other African countries to deliver on current projects. The company also plans to maintain its partnerships with key African markets like Morocco, Egypt, and South Africa, says the senior official. The three countries are co-founders of the African Green Hydrogen Alliance and major regional hubs for multinational investments in solar, wind, and green hydrogen projects. Read Also: Morocco, Egypt Commit to Foster Climate Cooperation Rabat, Cairo, and Cape Town have recently reiterated their commitment to the climate agenda during the ongoing UN Climate Change Conference (COP 27) in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The event has represented an opportunity for official delegations from Morocco, Egypt, and other African countries to expand former partnerships and build new ones with international financial institutions, multinational companies, and developed economies. The partnerships underline the need for collective action to boost climate finance, decarbonize industries, and introduce early warning systems to limit the devastating consequences of climate change. This growing interest in low-carbon technologies, particularly in the energy sector, is expected to lead to a long-term boom in demand for onshore and offshore wind solutions as well as green hydrogen technology after 2024, Siemens Gamesa forecasts. However, the recent supply chain disruptions are increasing the costs of energy transition projects in 2022-23, Soares argued. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352438/siemens-gamesa-to-sell-its-wind-turbine-factory-in-tangier
  6. VinFast, an Vietnamese startup automaker, today revealed the VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs at the L.A. auto show. The subcompact front-drive-only VF6 is said to make up to 201 hp; the larger VF7 makes a claimed 201 hp (FWD) or 349 hp (AWD). Both EV models are coming to America, with production expected to start sometime in the third quarter of 2023. VinFast—the up-and-coming Vietnamese automaker whose name sounds like a mashup of Vin Diesel and Fast and Furious—is adding two new members to its U.S.-bound family. While this isn't the first we've heard of these electric SUVs, the company today revealed production-intent versions of the 2024 VinFast VF6 and VF7 at the L.A. auto show. Measuring 166.9 inches from stem to stern, the VF6 is about the same size as conventional subcompact SUVs. Its 107.5-inch wheelbase is 0.5 inch shorter than the Kia Niro EV, and the VF6 is just as wide and about an inch taller at 62.8 inches. VinFast definitely makes the VF6 stand out stylistically, with distinctive V-shaped lighting elements front and back to go along with its shapely sheetmetal. The VF6 will only be offered with a single electric motor mounted on the front axle. VinFast claims the Eco model will produce 174 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, and it says the Plus will generate 201 horses and 228 pound-feet. The company also says to expect two different battery pack options, but their capacities and estimated driving ranges are yet to be determined. The same goes for its charging rates. Inside, the VF6 has a simple design, and a tranditional gauge cluster is conspicuously absent. Instead, there's a head-up display and a prominent center touchscreen. The latter includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as Amazon Alexa voice-assistant. VinFast also mentioned an in-car karaoke app and an app called what3words that offers a simpler way to access voice-activated navigation. The VF6 offers either cloth or faux leather upholstery, and while the Eco model has a steel roof, the Plus has a panoramic sunroof. Compared with the subcompact VF6, the VF7 measures exactly a foot longer at 178.9 inches, which is a mere two-tenths shorter than the compact Mazda CX-5 SUV. The VF7 also spans 74.4 inches from hip to hip and stands 64.4 inches tall. Again, for context, those dimensions make it about 2 inches wider and 2 inches shorter than the Mazda. The VF7's design is highlighted by its unique lighting bits, and its smooth body panels aren't busy, contributing to a clean look, even if its rear "floating roof" element is a bit contrived. The VF7 is available with one or two electric motors. The former setup is found on the Eco model, providing front-wheel drive and a claimed output of 201 horsepower and 228 pound-feet of torque (same as the VF6 Plus, if you didn't notice). The all-wheel-drive VF7 Plus is considerably more powerful, with VinFast saying it produces 349 horses and 368 pound-feet. The company didn't divulge any performance estimates, and there's no word on battery sizes or predicted driving range. With its increased dimensions, the two-row VF7 will offer more cargo and passenger space than the smaller VF6. Its interior appears to be more upscale, too. The 7 gets a larger 15.6-inch center touchscreen infotainment system with the same connectivity features as the 6. Along with cloth upholstery on the VF7 Eco, the Plus trim level comes with "premium" faux leather. The VF6 and VF7 will join the two-row VF8 and three-row VF9 SUVs (the two other models VinFast is planning to sell in America). As of this writing, the company hasn't sold any models on our shores, and so far it only has six mall-style retail outlets, all of which are in California. However, a VinFast spokesperson told Car and Driver the company aims to add brick-and-mortar sales and service centers by the end of next year. Each model will also be backed by VinFast's notable warranty, which spans 10 years or 125,000 miles. VinFast hasn't yet announced pricing for the 2024 VF6 or VF7. We'd wager that the smaller of the two electric SUVs will start in the low-$30k range, whereas we think the larger one will have a base price somewhere above $35,000. As with the VF8 and VF9, expect VinFast to offer the VF6 and VF7 with or without a monthly battery subscription. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a41996027/2024-vinfast-vf6-vf7-ev-suvs-revealed/
  7. Rabat- In his most recent film, Reste Un Peu (Stay a little), French-Moroccan comedian Gad Elmaleh discusses religion, a man's search for purpose, and a crisis of spirituality. Elmaleh, invoking his own spiritual journey in Judaism, emphasized that the “Moroccan model of Jewish-Muslim fraternity is unique in the world and does not exist anywhere else.” In an interview with Israel-based news channel i24NEWS, Elmaleh reflected on his own search for spirituality in Judaism, saying that he found his faith through his Jewish identity and family traditions, and that he has been connected with spirituality since his childhood. Elmaleh said, “I had the chance to live in Morocco, a land of Jewish-Muslim fraternity.” In an attempt to dispel misconceptions and stereotypes about Islam and Arab culture, Elmaleh emphasized that the Moroccan model of Jewish-Muslim fraternity is unique in the world and does not exist anywhere else. Elmaleh frequently expresses his admiration for Morocco and his hometown, Casablanca. The renowned comedian was born in Casablanca to a Jewish family but spent most of his high school years in Quebec. He attended Lycee Lyautey in Casablanca for one year before being expelled. Elmaleh was voted the “funniest person” in France, and France’s Minister of Culture named him Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters. Elmaleh also became a Knight of the National Order of Quebec. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352389/gad-elmaleh-morocco-is-a-land-of-jewish-muslim-fraternity
  8. Rabat - Today Google is celebrating Morocco's 67th anniversary of the country’s Independence, commemorated annually on November 18. Google used a simple yet patriotic doodle to celebrate Morocco’s independence, featuring a waving Moroccan flag in front of a blue cloudy sky outlined with red and green – representing the flag’s color scheme. November 18 marks an annual national holiday in Morocco, commemorating the anniversary of Independence Day and paying tribute to King Mohammed V for his fight against the French and Spanish colonizers. On March 2, 1956, Morocco officially gained independence from the French regime. That same year in April, Morocco declared independence from Spain. Morocco decided to make November 18 a day of celebration instead of the dates that it officially claimed its independence to pay tribute to Sultan Mohammed V. It was the late King Hassan II who decided to make November 18 the day of commemorating the anniversary as it marked the return of the highly-respected monarch, Sultan Mohammed V, from exile. The late King Mohammed V returned from forced exile on November 18, 1955, prior to independence. Following his return, the monarch continued his active opposition against French colonization with his compatriots at his side. “We are delighted to announce the end of the trusteeship system and protectorate and the advent of freedom and independence,” said King Mohammed V in a speech on November 18, 1955 following his return from exile. The resistance and resilience allowed negotiations with both France and Spain to secure Morocco’s independence. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352444/google-doodle-celebrates-moroccos-independence-day
  9. Wild Hearts may look like a Monster Hunter clone at first glance, but one of the things that ought to set it apart are its “Karakuri,” a variety of mechanical tools players can summon and use in various ways. Some of these Karakuri are focused on traversal, but there also traps, weapons, defensive items, and more. Basically, whatever the developers of Wild Hearts could dream up, there’s a Karakuri that does it. The latest Wild Hearts trailer focuses on Karakuri, showing off a wide range of these tools. Check it out, below. Need to know more? Here’s a quick rundown of Wild Hearts’ three different categories of Karakuri – basic, fusion, and dragon. “Basic Karakuri are simple, quickly constructed and tend to do well during combat. They also generally do not require many resources to craft. The crate, spring and torch Karakuri are all in this category. Fusion Karakuri require hunters to build multiple basic Karakuri that then fuse together, hence “Fusion” Karakuri. These are intended for countering Kemono attacks, although they can be used in a variety of situations. To learn Fusion Karakuri, hunters must seek new Kemono to battle. The pounder, star bomb and repeater crossbow are a few of the Fusion Karakuri hunters will learn. Lastly, Dragon Karakuri affect a hunter’s hunting grounds and, more broadly, Azuma. Dragon Karakuri require such a massive amount of energy to operate that they draw power from the very land around them. The power that they draw from is called Celestial Thread. The available Celestial Thread in an area can grow as you discover and upgrade that area’s Dragon Pits.” Finally, here’s a rundown of Wild Hearts’ Karakuri types… Spring (Basic Karakuri) Launches the hunter in a desired direction. It can be crafted quickly and used to dodge, perform an enhanced jumping attack or even flank a Kemono faster than one could on foot. Flying Vine (Dragon Karakuri) A Karakuri that’s typically used outside of combat, the flying vine shoots a zipline across a great distance. Visiting hunters will also be able to use your zipline so your hunting party doesn’t get separated. Bulwark (Fusion Karakuri) This defensive Karakuri can be used in many situations but its main purpose is to counter charge attacks or to simply be used as a wall to block a Kemono attack. Crate (Basic Karakuri) The basic building block of the Karakuri. Allows hunters to gain the high ground to avoid attacks or, when positioned correctly, hunters can perform a powerful attack from above. Torch (Basic Karakuri) Useful both in and out of combat, the torch can be used to light a dimly lit area or to add fire to a hunter’s weapon to deal additional damage. Pounder (Fusion Karakuri) While it packs a wallop, the pounder is a more complex Karakuri that has a slower attack that inflicts a large amount of stun damage to its target. Wind Vortex (Dragon Karakuri Generates a strong upwards wind that can propel hunters into the air. Wind vortexes are always on and when used in conjunction with a glider gives the hunter added height and gliding speed. Can be used in conjunction with a wind vortex or even a few crate Karakuri, the glider allows hunters to stay in the air longer to traverse Azuma more easily or position yourself directly overtop a Kemono. Star Bomb (Fusion Karakuri) The star bomb boasts a high attack power alongside a wide attack range. Although it takes some time to detonate on its own, it’ll explode immediately when attacked. Be warned though, the blast can send your fellow hunters flying if they’re caught in the explosion! Repeater Crossbow (Fusion Karakuri) An offensive Karakuri that shoots at regular intervals to increase your damage output and distract Kemono for a few precious seconds. A great choice when hunting flying Kemono. Chain Trap (Fusion Karakuri) Kemono that fall prey to a hunter’s chain trap will be immobile for a short period of time. Be sure to use this Karakuri wisely, as Kemono will begin to figure out how to escape the trap faster with each use. Roller (Dragon Karakuri) Simultaneously ancient and futuristic, hunters can traverse large distances quickly with this Karakuri. After tracking down prey, hunters can catapult a still-moving Roller into the Kemono. Best to hop off the Roller before doing this though. Paddle Scoop (Dragon Karakuri) Self-propelled, the paddle scoop is a more efficient method of catching fish while you are on the hunt. It’ll even store the fish it catches for later use. Training Bear (Dragon Karakuri) Complete with a variety of attacks, the training bear will be a key tool for hunters to improve their skills. Spar with the training bear while it’s on its hind legs or on all four. Hunting Tower (Dragon Karakuri) Detect large Kemono that are in the nearby vicinity. As hunters learn to better construct this Karakuri, the hunting tower will be able to locate additional artifacts and notable creatures. https://wccftech.com/wild-hearts-karakuri-trailer/

  11. Two next-gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 'Storm Peak' CPUs featuring up to 96 cores and 192 threads have been spotted within the Einstein @ Home database. AMD's Next-Gen Ryzen Threadripper 7000 'Storm Peak' CPU Shows Up With 96 Zen 4 Cores, 50% More Cores & Threads Vs Threadripper 5000 We all know that AMD is working on its next-gen Threadripper family which will be branded as the Ryzen Threadripper 7000 CPUs. The CPUs will be part of the 'Storm Peak' family and will include up to 96 cores and 192 threads. Back in September, we spotted a 64 core and 128 thread part leak out within the same database and now, we are looking at an even higher-end chip. The CPU that leaked out includes: The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 CPUs feature the '100-000000884-21_N' and '100-000000884-20_Y' OPN codes. Both chips have the same core configuration that includes 96 cores, 192 threads, and a total cache pool of 480 MB (384 MB L3 + 96 MB L2). These chips will utilize the 12 CCD Zen 4 die and were tested on a motherboard with 128 GB DDR5 memory and a Radeon PRO W6400 GPU which more or less confirms their workstation nature. The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 7000 Desktop CPUs will feature up to 96 cores and 192 threads based on the Zen 4 core architecture and fabricated on TSMC's 5nm node. The CPUs will be replacing the existing 'Chagall' lineup and will be designed purely for high-end and extreme workstation users. Since the core count is the same as the EPYC Genoa parts, they are likely to utilize the same die but with specific parts disabled for standard consumers. AMD confirmed in its desktop roadmap that they are working on their next-generation Zen 4 core powered Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series which is expected to release next year in 2023. There's no word on what platform will support these chips but it will definitely not be SP3 or the existing TR40 or WRX80 series since the chips are way bigger now and require a bigger socket. We will keep you updated on the next-gen lineup as we get more details. https://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-threadripper-7000-storm-peak-cpu-96-zen-4-cores-480-mb-cache-spotted/

  14. Fiat announced today that its adorable 500 minicar will return to the North America market after a four-year absence. Unlike the previous-generation car, the 500 will be sold here only as the electric 500e. The new 500e is already on sale in Europe and comes with an estimated driving range of up to 199 miles on Europe's very optimistic WLTP cycle. After Fiat discontinued of the 500 and 500L models in North America a few years back, we've been skeptical about the future of the brand. The 500X SUV is the only Fiat currently sold on our shores, but now a completely redesigned 500e electric hatchback is on the way to give Fiat a boost in the U.S. market. Based on the 500 city car that's sold in Europe already, the 500e will go on sale here as a 2024 model, but Fiat has so far been tight-lipped on details about U.S. specs for its electric powertrain and battery pack. We suspect it will port over exactly as it is sold in Europe, with the larger of the two available battery packs, a 37.3-kWh unit, and an electric motor driving the front wheels that can provide up to 117 horsepower. With this larger battery, the 500e carries a range estimate of 199 miles on the European WLTP cycle. But unless Fiat somehow squeezes a larger battery pack into the U.S. variant, we expect to see a significantly lower EPA range estimate, likely around 160 miles per charge. The 500e appears to be coming to the U.S. in both hardtop hatchback and softtop convertible body styles, although there's no word yet on if the European version's 3+1 door configuration will make the leap. With help from Italian fashion houses Armani and Bulgari as well as contemporary furniture design firm Kartell, Fiat has shown three one-off concept cars at the 2022 Los Angeles auto show that highlight the car's fashionable styling. The Armani 500e, for example, features a special exterior paint treatment with a laser-etched chevron pattern meant to make it look like fabric. The Kartell version uses sustainable plastics to dress up the car's interior, and the Bulgari model sports an upscale appearance inside and out with colorful embroidered upholstery and a matching mural on the dashboard. That version also features a removable brooch with inset amethyst, topaz, and citrine gemstones mounted at the center of the steering wheel. We don't expect such an option to make it to production, sadly. Those in the know will remember that 500e version of the previous-gen car was sold here back through 2019 model year, although its availability was limited to California and Oregon. That model was a big money loser for the brand, with former Fiat Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne famously telling Reuters in 2014 that he hoped not too many people would buy it because his company lost about $14,000 on each one. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a41955307/2024-fiat-500e-revealed/
  15. Rabat - Morocco was elected as the representative of the North Africa sub-region to the Standing Committee of the Convention on Wetlands, also known as the Ramsar Convention, for the period 2022-2025 during the 14th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 14). The Ramsar Convention has designated Ifrane as a wetland city, making it the second Arab and North African city to receive Ramsar accreditation, constituting a testament to the city's determination to protect its urban wetlands for the benefit of both people and nature, a statement from the National Agency for Water and Forests (ANEF) said. The Moroccan delegation took part in the conference, which was held in a hybrid setting between Wuhan, China and Geneva, Switzerland from November 5-13. The election “will allow Morocco to be one of Africa's regional representatives in this subsidiary body, giving the region a voice to address the challenges of conservation and restoration of African wetlands,” the statement also said. Director General of ANEF Abderrahim Houmy said, “Since the ratification of the RAMSAR Convention in 1980, Morocco has embarked on the path of developing the tools necessary for the implementation of a policy of conservation and sustainable development of its natural resources, in order to reconcile the requirements of economic and human development with the ongoing concern to protect its biodiversity, taking into account the ecological balance of nature.” The Convention on Wetlands, also known as the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, is the first modern treaty between nations aimed at conserving natural resources. The signing of the Convention on Wetlands took place in 1971 in the small Iranian town of Ramsar. According to Ramsar’s official website the convention’s mission is “the conservation and wise use of all wetlands through local and national actions and international cooperation, as a contribution towards achieving sustainable development throughout the world. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352399/morocco-joins-standing-committee-of-the-ramsar-convention
  16. Rabat - Bloomberg Media announced that it will hold its inaugural Bloomberg New Economy Gateway Africa conference in Morocco’s Marrakech in June 2023. The company said in a statement today that the event will take place in partnership with Morocco. “This event will bring together leaders from the private and public sectors to discuss the world’s most pressing issues and evaluate potential solutions in the context of local and regional priorities,” Bloomberg said. The panels will discuss several challenges the world is facing due to inflation, including the impact of “a slowing global economy, rising food and energy prices,” as well as supply-chain issues. The agency recalled Morocco’s position in the recent Climate Change Performance Index 2022, which ranked Morocco first in Africa and 7th globally, stressing that the plenary program of the event “will reflect Bloomberg New Economy’s five editorial pillars,” particularly commerce, sustainability, and security, among others. Bloomberg Founder Michael R. Bloomberg said that the event is part of the company’s New Economy gatherings expansion to Africa. “We look forward to broadening our conversations in Morocco - a major gateway for global trade and climate action,” he said. The businessman said that the event will put a “special focus on sustainability and resilience, issues critical to the future of every country.” He also quoted the Moroccan government’s commitment toward boosting sustainable development as part of King Mohammed VI’s vision. “We are honored to be hosting the first Bloomberg New Economy Gateway to Africa in June 2023 in Morocco, showing the international recognition of the Kingdom’s regional and continental leadership under the vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI,” said Morocco’s Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch. Akhannouch also recalled reforms that Morocco undertook to improve its business climate, describing the North African country as a “regional hub for international investment.” In October, King Mohammed VI emphasized the importance of investments as a cornerstone to the country’s economic development. The monarch expressed satisfaction with “the structural reforms Morocco has undertaken,” which significantly improved Morocco’s image as a business destination, while acknowledging results could still be improved to support the country to reach its full potential through encouraging private initiatives, and attracting more foreign investments. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352429/bloomberg-to-hold-first-new-economy-gateway-africa-in-marrakech-in-2023
  17. Rabat - Tourists and newcomers to the Rabat region can find a number of guides on the internet for how to traverse the city, including our own from Morocco World News. But to avoid mishaps ranging from hilarious to egregious, here’s a list of advanced-level tips you should know. Trams One of Rabat and Sale’s most prominent public transport options is the tramway. With a MAD 6 ($0.55) ticket, passengers can reach most neighborhoods in the two cities. Beware the following, however: #1 When traveling with a large group, do not all use the same tram door. Otherwise, some unfortunate individuals will be cut off from the rest and left to panic on the streets. #2 Don’t wait for the passengers before you to insert their tickets into the yellow machine. Get on board first! #3 If the door closes on you, press the button, but keep in mind it only opens the door for a few seconds. #4 When asking for directions to a tram stop near the Al Irfane end of Line 1, specify that you mean the “tram” instead of the “tram bus” to spare yourself the misery of wandering around like a headless chicken. #5 Frequent passengers should keep several valid backup tickets on them in case the ticket machine is broken and the ticket booth worker isn’t there, or if your tram pulls up just as you arrive at the station. If you are caught getting on the tram without a valid ticket, you will be unceremoniously kicked off or fined 50 dirhams ($4.54) — depending on the tram officer’s mood. P.S. Sure you can run after the tram to catch it, but you will be gawked at by the entire carriage and possibly dubbed “dumb American” by your friend. Petit Taxis The petit taxi can take you anywhere around the city, but it’s not as affordable as the other options. Tourists who should take note of the following: #1 Drivers know landmarks instead of specific addresses. For example, “35, Street Jabal Oukaimeden” means nothing to them, but “MacDonald’s Agdal” will get you near where you want to go. If you have the language skills, you can specify exactly where you want to be dropped off at once you approach your landmark. #2 News flash: unless your driver is superhuman, speaking in a ridiculous mixture of Classic Arabic, Darija, French, and English will not adequately convey where you want to go. #3 Two or more people taking a taxi as a group from the same location to the same location should only be charged one fare. During the busiest hours, however, the taxi drivers may be unwilling to take large groups in lieu of more lucrative jobs. If a group is truly desperate, hide your friends when you wave down a taxi, but know that the driver will have a good reason to be a little mad. #4 Make sure you have lots of change before getting in a taxi because drivers cannot break large bills. Locals sometimes go to hanuts (corner stores) near their destination to get change, but that could be difficult without the necessary language. Grand taxis & Buses Despite the somewhat-misleading name, grand taxis are similar to buses in that they are both meterless and follow predetermined routes. Both are intra-city transportations that link nearby cities or smaller outskirts towns. #1 Do not trust online charts on taxi stations or bus lines, or you may find yourself in the middle of a random city you did not intend to go to. It’s much better to ask a local or the driver for directions. #2 Although these only run along certain routes, grand taxi drivers sometimes pick up and drop off people anywhere instead of at specific stations. You can ask to be dropped off anywhere as long as it’s along the route. With buses however, stops can only be made at the designated stations around the city. #3 Plan for potential delays. You may be able to snatch the last seat on a Grand taxi and start your journey right away, or you may have to wait half an hour for the entire six seats to fill up. If you are in a particular hurry, you could offer to pay for whatever seats are still vacant. “Eleven” Huh? Don’t worry, “eleven” isn’t some novel form of transportation out of a sci-fi movie. Just the opposite, it’s the most old fashioned way: walking. The term stems from the Darija word “Hdaash” — eleven — a number that resembles the shape of your legs. You might have been able to walk since you were a baby, but walking in Morocco is quite a different story. #1 Traffic “laws” are more like traffic “suggestions.” Pedestrians don’t automatically have the right of way, and the green man on the traffic light doesn’t mean anything. Beware of your surroundings when crossing the street. #2 When in doubt, follow older Moroccans. Some additional tips for ladies: #3 Ask a trusted local about the safety of various neighborhoods to learn whether you should walk there alone, after dark, or wearing clothes that expose lots of skin. Use the frequency of verbal harassment you receive as an indicator of the neighborhood’s safety. https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2022/11/352356/heads-up-travelers-avoid-these-public-transportation-mistakes-in-morocco
