The Callisto Protocol turned out to be a harrowing experience for PC gamers on day one, and not because of any horror specific to the game. As we and several other publications reported, this game version was plagued by the well-known Unreal Engine shader compilation issue, which turned out the first run through any level a literal nightmare regardless of the PC configuration. Following the negative reports, developer Striking Distance Studios quickly responded on Twitter promising a patch focused on the issue. We’re aware that some users are experiencing stuttering issues on the PC. We’ve got a patch that will be available in a few hours to improve performance, with a number of additional updates on the way. That patch was deployed a few hours ago, and we can confirm the shader compilation problem is alleviated, although other forms of stuttering and slowdowns are still present in The Callisto Protocol on PC. Indeed, the studio itself said there would be more optimization work on the way via future patches. Thanks for your patience. A PC patch is now available to improve gameplay stuttering issues due to shader compilation. After updating, you may see temporary stuttering in the game menu the first time you launch the app. We are working on further optimizations in the days ahead. One area that could definitely use improvement is the CPU optimization. According to Digital Foundry, the game might be badly optimized for multi-threading, and all about the highest end CPU will suffer. The Callisto Protocol on PC has several other shortcomings, such as badly implemented HDR display support (which is also only available in DX12 mode), the inability to change graphics settings after loading into the actual game, and unoptimized (not to mention rather unimpressive) ray tracing effects. Striking Distance Studios does have a plan to support The Callisto Protocol post-launch, though. ICY DOCK has unveiled their next-gen conceptual adapter cards that feature support for PCIe Gen5 M.2 & E1.S SSDs in an active-cooled design. ICY DOCK Shows Off Its Next-Gen PCIe Gen5 M.2 & E1.S SSD Adapter Cards With Active-Cooling Tech Both adapter cards that ICY DOCK has showcased are currently a concept only. The docks include the CP125 and the CP073. Starting off with the CP125, we have a standard FHFL expansion card & make use of a single-slot design. The card features a PCIe5 x8 interface and can support up to two E1.S SSDs. The E1.S is the new ruler standard that was recently introduced and you can mount two of these within the SSD Mobile Rack that features a tool-less design & connects to the adapter with ease. The adapter features a 50mm blower fan that should keep both SSDs running cool. There's also an LED indicator on the I/O and two HDD LED ports that can be connected to the motherboard can showcase HDD activity through the front panel LEDs. Rabat- The Moroccan phosphate giant OCP Group has made important progress in its support for, and hiring of, people with disabilities. In support of the United Nations’ fourth Sustainable Development Goal — quality education — OCP opened medical and social centers for people with disabilities, such as an EBS center for children with special needs of employees and nearby communities. Internally, the company also aims to build a disability-friendly workplace. To this end, OCP offers internships, local partnerships, and sponsorships for people with disabilities, matching their skills and qualifications to suitable opportunities. In 2021, the company provided assistance allowances to 1,000 employees with disabilities to help them attain specific medical needs and afford special care expenses, according to the company’s Annual Sustainability Report. The advances follow a national trend in which the number of Moroccans benefitting from support programs across the country has almost quadrupled from 2015 to 2020, a representative from the Ministry of Solidarity highlighted last year. Morocco is one of 185 countries that ratified the United Nations’s Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). The landmark treaty outlines general principles such as respect, non-discrimination, inclusion, equality, and accessibility. State parties including Morocco submit progress reports once every four years. In the country, 6.8% of Moroccans are disabled, equivalent to one person in every four families, efforts toward inclusion are paramount and incomplete. Morocco’s High Commission for Planning (HCP) found that 70% of Moroccans with disabilities are illiterate compared to around 2% nationally, and 94% are economically inactive. As such, the government has been working to promote the rights of people with disabilities, including through two 2020 agreements to expand access to education and the job market. The BMW iX5 hydrogen fuel-cell SUV is now entering low-volume production and will begin testing in select regions next spring. Based on the regular BMW X5, the iX5 is retrofitted with a fuel-cell stack, an electric motor and battery, and a new floor to fit its hydrogen tanks. BMW believes both electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles are necessary to combat climate change, with the iX5 a potential precursor to future models. Along with a growing number of automakers, BMW says it's committed to combatting global climate change and aims to be carbon neutral by 2050. Unlike many automakers, however, the German brand believes hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles will play a big role in reaching that goal, alongside battery-electric vehicles, of course. Leading the charge is the hydrogen-powered BMW iX5 SUV that has just begun low-volume production. It was first previewed a few years ago by the i Hydrogen Next concept that appeared at the 2019 Frankfurt auto show. Starting sometime next spring (2023), the small batch of iX5s that BMW is now building will hit the streets in select regions around the world for testing purposes. Based on the regular BMW X5, which is built in the company's factory in Spartansburg, South Carolina, the iX5 is assembled at BMW's Research and Innovation Center in Munich, Germany. The transformation from X5 to iX5 includes swapping in an entirely new floor to fit the fuel-cell system's two hydrogen tanks that are located under the mid-size SUV's central tunnel and rear seats. The tanks have a total capacity of about 16 pounds and feed an underhood fuel-cell stack paired with a rear-mounted electric motor and battery. BMW says the iX5's entire fuel-cell-electric system makes a combined 374 horsepower. The company also says its curb weight is comparable to the plug-in-hybrid X5, which weighed 5627 pounds on our scales. BMW claims the iX5 can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in under seven seconds and has a top speed of 118 mph. It also has an estimated driving range of around 310 miles, although that claim is based on the optimistic European WLTP cycle. BMW believes that fuel-cell powertrains will provide a carbon-free alternative to customers with needs that can't be met by EVs, such as those who need to refuel quickly and don't have fast-charging access. The company also thinks hydrogen power will help offset the challenges that electrification faces, especially with medium- and heavy-duty trucks. Other issues the technology is said to address include regions with constraints on electrical-grid capacity and renewable resources. Plus, BMW says more than 40 countries worldwide currently have a strategy regarding hydrogen power and cites the continuous build-up of hydrogen refueling stations since 2020. For now, the BMW iX5 is being produced merely as a pilot program, but it could lay the groundwork for future BMW fuel-cell vehicles. In similar news, Honda recently announced plans to build a hydrogen-powered CR-V, which would make it just the third hydrogen model sold in the United States. Rabat - Monetary transfers from Moroccans living abroad are projected to reach $11.4 billion in 2o22, making the country the third top ranking one in Africa in terms of remittances’ value. Africa’s two most populous countries, Egypt and Nigeria, sat at the top of the ranking, with $32.3 billion and $20.9 billion transferred to them respectively. Morocco’s remittances are routinely bolstered by the large numbers of Moroccans who live in Europe, particularly in countries like France, Spain, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The monetary transfers are important to Morocco, accounting for a significant share of its foreign currency reserves. In 2020, remittances were 6.5% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP). While Egypt, Nigeria, and Morocco dominate in terms of the net amount of money, Gambia benefits from remittances the most, relative to its GDP, as they are expected to make up over 28% of the country’s GDP. Despite lingering economic challenges, the African continent’s remittances are set to surpass $100 billion for the first time since the World Bank started recording the figures. The continent is currently much in need of remittances, to combat the global rise in prices of energy and food products. Droughts and a challenging international economy have seen the continent’s food security woes worsen. While remittances can be an important source of income for countries, the large number of skilled workers and experts migrating to Europe poses a challenge for the continent’s development. Rabat - Spanish luxury fashion house Balenciaga is facing heavy criticism over its most recent campaign featuring two children posing with teddy bears that seem to be wearing bondage-styled outfits. The campaign is part of Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection. The campaign took the internet by storm enraging netizens, as people called for boycotting the brand while others called for legal action against Balenciaga for what they called “child porn.” Balenciaga retracted the ads on Tuesday and deleted all pictures related to the campaign the next day. On Wednesday, it issued a public apology earlier this week saying: “We sincerely apologize for any offense our holiday campaign may have caused.” The statement continued: “Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign. We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms,” the company wrote in a statement posted in an Instagram Story. “We apologize for displaying unsettling documents in our campaign,” the company added in its statement. “We take this matter very seriously and are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for our Spring 23 campaign photoshoot. We strongly condemn abuse of children in any form. We stand for children’s safety and well-being.” However, the company’s official apology did little to quell public anger as screenshots of the ads continue to trend online, and internet users are calling for celebrities with links to the brand to speak up. “I thought people were trolling, but nope. It’s real. Maybe this is why Balenciaga left Twitter. They don’t want to be held accountable. Yes, these are children holding teddy bears dressed in bondage outfits,” one Twitter user wrote. Eager for some fresh information about Diablo IV? Well, it seems you should be marking The Game Awards on your calendar. According to reliable insider Tom Henderson, Diablo IV will have a presence at Geoff Keighley’s annual extravaganza, with information on the game’s open beta and possibly even a release date/window being revealed. Jez Corden, who has previously leaked details about Diablo IV, claims the open beta date, pre-orders, and collector’s edition details are the most likely thing we’ll learn. Just can’t wait until The Game Awards on December 8 for the reveals? Well, again according to Henderson, a number of journalists and influencers have had the opportunity to go hands-on with Diablo IV and the embargo on their impressions will expire the day before. Finally, we return to Jez Corden, who previously indicated Diablo IV could launch in April of 2023. He’s now saying that April may have “represented the earlier end” of the game’s potential launch window, and that the game could launch as late as June 2023. Of course, take all this with a grain of salt for now. Henderson almost always delivers the goods, Corden… not so much. Today, Apple has released its latest iOS 16.1.2 software update for iPhone. The latest update addressed various issues reported by users and also comes with bug fixes and performance improvements. Indulge your Supernatural fantasies with this big Chevy hardtop, done up as a clone of the hero car from the TV series, which is now up for auction on the Bring a Trailer website. With bench seating, a two-speed Powerglide transmission, and a burbling 283-cubic-inch engine, this is an ideal weekend cruiser that makes all the right sounds. Repainted black and fitted with chrome 15-inch five-spoke wheels, this Impala will be instantly familiar to a demographic far younger than your usual muscle-car enthusiast. Running over 15 seasons since it debuted in 2005, Supernatural was one of the longest-running, most successful fantasy TV series ever. Focusing on fictional twin brothers Sam and Dean Winchester as they roved around the country fighting demons and ghosts, it was sort of a cross between a traditional Western and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And in a Western, you need a faithful horse. Dean Winchester had Baby, his beloved Impala. Originally, the show was supposed to feature the more obvious choice of a mid-1960s Ford Mustang, but the decision was made to go for something a little rougher around the edges. A black pillarless-hardtop Impala offered the necessary air of menace: low and rumbling and with the implication that there was plenty of space in the trunk for a body or two. Up for auction on the website Bring a Trailer—which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos—is a clone with all the charm of the Supernatural hero car. With the auction set to end on Tuesday, December 6, bidding sits at just $5200. Mechanically, this Impala is nothing special, with a 283-cubic-inch V-8 and a two-speed Powerglide slushbox. It's fine if you just want to cruise around all summer, but the oil pan gasket needs resealing next oil change. Having had a chance to get up close with the actual Impala used as the hero car in Supernatural, anyone interested in this car might want to start putting together a shopping list. In person, Baby is no princess. She's a demon-shredding rottweiler. Under the hood of the real Supernatural Impala is a built-up 500-cubic-inch big block Chevy V-8, which lopes at idle like a bowling ball in an industrial dryer. The suspension is comprehensively upgraded with components from Hotchkiss, and the brakes are upgraded as well. Rabat - The 7th session of UNESCO’s intergovernmental committee for the safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage is taking place in the Kasbah of the Udayas in Rabat, Morocco, between November 28 and December 3. Morocco's Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid, presided over the opening ceremony, which was attended by Morocco's ambassador to the United Nations, Samir Addahar among others. Different countries have submitted 46 cultural heritage projects to take part in the event. Rabat - Morocco’s travel revenues reached MAD 71.10 billion, or $6.74 billion at the end of October, according to new data from the Foreign Exchange Office. The woman alleged that she was pregnant for 5-6 months but upon a closer look by the customs agents, it was identified that the woman had a fake prosthetic belly attached to her. However, the news agency reports that the size of her belly made it seem like she was in her third trimester and was walking comfortably. After having the fake belly removed, the customs authorities found a total of 202 Intel CPUs and 9 mobile phones within the fake prosthetic. All of the components were held firmly by scotch tape and this takes tax evasion to the next level. Reports confirm that the Intel CPUs that were recovered from the lady are all 12th Gen Intel Alder Lake CPUs and the mobile phones seem to be Apple's latest iPhones.
