The name given to the Friday following Thanksgiving in the US is considered to be the beginning of Christmas Shopping season since 1952. Black Friday often sees shops opening early or even at midnight for prospective buyers. A number of stores offer a wide range of sales on Black Friday for consumers. One of the busiest shopping days in US, the term Black Friday first appeared in Philadelphia as well as in the journal, Factory Management and Maintenance. The former referred to it to explain the heavy influx of traffic and pedestrians that would occur the day after Thanksgiving. On the other hand, the latter called it the practice of workers calling in sick on the day after Thanksgiving so that they can have four days of holiday, including the weekend. Historically, the day may be called the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season and linked with the Santa Claus Parades, since Christmas is the next major holiday following Thanksgiving in the West. Over the years, the term has gained prominence on the internet as well. Called Cyber Black Friday, it was created in 2009 by 2009 by eCoupons.com after observing that online retailers launched their holiday sales before Cyber Monday to compete with the Black Friday frenzy. While Cyber Friday is a comparatively new coinage, the Cyber Monday sales predate it by a few years. It was started in 2005, while Cyber Black Friday can trace its origin back to 2009. Despite its celebratory inclination, there have been reports of violence occurring among shoppers over the years.1 point

The Essen Motor Show opens its doors this week and that means time has come to meet this year’s “police car” modified for the Tune It! Safe! campaign. Over the years, we’ve seen everything from Volkswagen Golfs to the BMW i8, but this is the first time the car takes the shape of a practical wagon. Not just any wagon, but an Audi RS4 Avant modified by ABT you might have heard of under the name of "RS4-R." Based on the pre-facelift version of Ingolstadt’s fast family hauler, ABT's RS4-R has been decked out with the appropriate body wrap and blue lights. The main idea behind the Tune It! Safe! campaign is to demonstrate that aftermarket upgrades can be applied to a car "whilst maintaining traffic safety and regulatory compliance." Gallery: Audi RS4 Avant by ABT for Tune It! Safe! campaign: ABT’s modified Avant was originally unveiled back in March 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show with an upgraded version of the twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 pushing out a meaty 523 horsepower and 690 Newton-meters (509 pound-feet) of torque. The long-roof performance car from Audi also swaps out the dual oval exhaust tips for a more menacing quad system with 102-mm end pipes finished in carbon fiber. In addition, the standard wheels were removed to make room for the tuner’s own set of 21-inch alloys shod in 275/25 ZR1 tires. The list of upgrades implemented by the Kempten-based tuner goes on with height-adjustable springs, sports stabilizers, and a full coilover suspension system. It’s probably only a matter of time before ABT will get its hands on the recently facelifted Audi RS4 Avant to extract additional power and make the styling a bit more aggressive. It’ll be interesting what the tuner will have in mind for the next-gen RS4 seeing as how the Four Rings have already confirmed the performance wagon will utilize a plug-in hybrid powertrain1 point

Borussia Dortmund are willing to listen to offers for Jadon Sancho as early as January after a breakdown in relationships, with most of England’s top clubs closely monitoring his situation. One source described it as “war in all directions”, with the player wanting to go, and the club now wanting to sell. Sancho’s status at Dortmund after a superb first season has deteriorated rapidly, with the hierarchy now considering another hefty fine, after more disciplinary issues. The Independent has been told the 19-year-old was late for a team briefing and a training session before Wednesday’s 3-1 Champions League defeat to Barcelona. This follows a suspension in October after he returned late from international duty, amid a spell where he has fallen out of favour. Dortmund were similarly “furious” about his camp looking to force a move early, given there had been an agreement to let him leave during a summer window if a suitable bid came in. The club are proceeding with a certain caution due to a delicate current situation, however, as they consider sacking under-performing manager Lucien Favre. One reason they have refrained so far has been because they haven’t yet decided on a successor of suitable international pedigree. While that could influence Sancho’s future, they have changed stance and are prepared to listen to offers in the winter window. Dortmund had previously given Manchester United a flat no when the Old Trafford club bid for the forward last year, looking to wait at least another season, although it is understood Sancho himself was not that keen on the move. That is something else that is likely to have changed, due to how bad the current situation has got. United would consider another bid for a player of such talent and such a young age, while Liverpool are keeping a watchful eye. His former club Manchester City have also asked to be notified of developments, especially with the injury to Leroy Sane, and the German’s mooted departure. Real Madrid have similarly kept in constant contact with Dortmund about Sancho, especially since their right-back Achraf Hakimi is on loan at Westfalonstadion, and they are aware the Bundesliga club would like to make that a permanent deal after an impressive spell from the 21-year-old Moroccan wide player. Dortmund would still want a fee of over £100m for Sancho, but their hand has been weakened by their own willingness to sell.1 point
