  1. The Cabinet on Wednesday cleared production-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for pharmaceuticals and IT hardware, including laptops, which would cost the government as much as Rs 22,350 crore. Shedding the historical, costly bias in favour of small companies, the government has earmarked big bucks for big firms with elevated export potential. Under the scheme for pharmaceuticals, as much as Rs 11,000 crore (73% of the total incentives of Rs 15,000 crore) will be extended to eligible applicants whose global manufacturing revenue was in excess of Rs 5,000 crore in FY20. Similarly, the firms with manufacturing revenue of Rs 500-5,000 crore in FY20 will be granted incentives of Rs 2,250 crore. RELATED NEWS Govt to consider up to 20 times incremental sales value for computing telecom PLIGovt to consider up to 20 times incremental sales value for computing telecom PLINew intermediary rules: Social media players welcome regulations to address 'challenges'New intermediary rules: Social media players welcome regulations to address 'challenges' The relatively small ones, with FY20 revenue below Rs 500 crore, will get Rs 1,750 crore. Any unutilised incentives, meant for the firms with revenue in the range of Rs 500 crore to Rs 5,000 crore, could later be distributed among larger players. The PLI scheme for manufacturing of IT hardware including laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs and servers, has an outlay of Rs 7,350 crore over a four-year period and a total of 15 companies, five global players and 10 domestic firms, are expected to benefit from it. The incentives are expected to generate additional investments of `2,700 crore and result in incremental production of `3.26 lakh crore, 75% of which for exports. The government expects the scheme to reduce India’s import dependence for IT hardware in a major way – currently, 80% of the country’s laptop and tablet demand is met through imports. The scheme, to commence from April 1, will enable domestic value addition in IT hardware to rise from 5-10% at present to 20%-25% by 2025. Under the scheme, incentives of 4% to 1% on net incremental sales over the base year (2019-20) will be given to the beneficiary companies. It is also expected that the scheme could generate over 1.8 lakh direct and indirect jobs over the four- year period. The duration of the pharmaceutical PLI scheme will be from FY21 to FY29. This will include the period for processing of applications (FY21), optional gestation period of one year (FY22) and incentives for six years (FY23-FY28). The disbursement of incentive for sales during FY28 will take place in FY29. According to official estimates, the scheme is likely to bring in investment of Rs 15,000 crore. It will also result in total incremental sales of Rs 2.94 lakh crore and additional exports of Rs 1.96 lakh crore over six years through FY28, apart from fetching handsome amount of direct and indirect taxes. It is expected to generate a total of one lakh jobs—20,000 direct and 80,000 indirect. At the same, it will improve research and development in the critical sector and help the goal of affordable healthcare for the po[CENSORED]tion. The PLI for pharmaceuticals was one of the 13 such schemes announced by the government in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic last year. The idea is to lure mainly large companies to create “global champions” out of India that have the potential to grow in size using cutting-edge technology and can, thereby, penetrate the global value chains. The total incentives under the PLI schemes, covering sectors including telecom, electronics, auto part, pharma, chemical cells and textiles, stood at Rs 1.97 lakh crore over a five-year period. The pharmaceutical PLI scheme under three categories. The first category will include biopharmaceuticals; complex generic drugs; patented drugs or drugs nearing patent expiry; cell-based or gene therapy drugs; orphan drugs; special emptycapsules like HPMC, Pullulan, enteric, etc; complex excipients and phyto-pharmaceuticals. The second category will include active pharmaceutical ingredients and drug intermediates. The third category will cover all the drugs that are not captured in the first two, including re-purposed drugs, auto immune drugs, anti-cancer and anti-diabetic drugs. The rate of incentive for products in the first and second categories will be to the tune of 10% (of incremental sales value) for the first four years, 8% for the fifth year and 6% for the sixth year of production. The incentives for the production of the rest of the pharma products will be 5% (of incremental sales value) for first four years, 4% for the fifth year and 3% for the sixth year. The Indian pharmaceutical industry is the third-largest globally in terms of the volume term of production and is worth $40 billion in value term. The country contributes 3.5% of total drugs and medicines exported globally. Currently, India’s annual laptop imports are to the tune of Rs 29,500 crore and tablet imports are at Rs 2,870 crore. The market for IT hardware is dominated by 6-7 companies globally which account for about 70% of the world’s market share. Earlier, the government has approved two PLI schemes on similar lines, one for mobile phones and the other for telecom equipment. While the outlay for mobile phones has been kept at Rs 41,000 crore for a period of five years providing incentives ranging between 4-6%, the one for telecom equipment has an outlay of Rs 12,195 crore for a period of five years providing incentives in the range of 4-7%. In the case of mobile phones PLI, the government has already selected five global and five domestic firms, while the detailed guidelines for the telecom equipment PLI scheme is yet to be finalised. Highlighting the success of PLI scheme for mobile phones, communications IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in the last five months of scheme operation and despite challenging times, the applicant companies, including top global mobile phone companies, have produced goods worth Rs 35,000 crore and invested Rs 1,300 crore. Additional employment generation during this period stands at around 22,000 jobs.
  2. Millions of players have swarmed into Early Access survival game Valheim over the past few weeks, and many have already conquered the Viking afterlife by taking down Valheim's five big bosses. But it sounds like developer Iron Gate Studios would like to put the brakes on players steamrolling some of their boss monsters at such a rapid pace. A patch released today (0.146.8) makes some difficulty tweaks to bosses 3, 4, and 5. Swamp blob Bonemass, ice dragon Moder, and skeletal head honcho Yagluth are now harder to beat. "u guys are killing them too fast," the developer says in the patch notes. Iron Gate CEO Richard Svensson elaborated on the boss changes on Twitter, saying Bonemass now has a quicker cooldown on his melee attacks, Moder's hit points have been increased by 2,500, and Yagluth has had some "resistance tweaks" and has been given "double the HP" because players were taking him down within a few short minutes of summoning him. The patch also includes various bug fixes and tweaks. The world corruption bug that could occasionally happen when players quit the game with Alt-F4 sounds like it's been squashed, which is great news, though I imagine it's still a good idea to regularly make backups of your Valheim world and character files. Also, the game will now remember your preference for showing your in-game location while in co-op, so you won't have to tick that box on your map every time you join your favorite server. Another literal bug fix: the buzzing of deathsquitos is now detectable at a greater distance, which should hopefully cut down a bit on surprise attacks and backstabs by those surprisingly vicious winged menaces. If you're having issues connecting to a server hosting Valheim, or experiencing a black screen when you're trying to connect, Iron Gate suggests making sure the server has been updated to the new version and restarted. Here are the full patch notes: Crafting item-dupe bug fix Harpooned player & ship bug fix Fixed player ragdoll Bonemass, Moder, Yagluth difficulty tweaks Moder music updated Tombstone bugfix (probably wont fix disappearing tombstones though) Fixed world corruption caused by pressing ALT+F4 while logging out Deathsquitos have slightly longer audio range Tweaked audio on blast-furnace & spinning wheel Shared map position setting is saved per world Updated network stats (F2) Building destruction drop-fix Vulkan support in windows builds Network disconnection bugfix Updated socket-backend
  3. We rarely think about it, but the way you hold the wheel can have a big impact on driving and safety. Discover three positions to ban right away! When we learn to drive, we are usually taught from the very first lessons the importance of properly handling the steering wheel . Most of the time, it is the famous 10:10 position that is then recommended, offering according to driving instructors an optimal grip and allowing better handling of the vehicle, whether in a straight line or in bends. The 9:15 a.m. position is po[CENSORED]r with pilots and sporty driving enthusiasts , allowing better control of the car's trajectory, especially at high speed. Anyway, if there are some ideal positions for driving, others on the other hand should be quickly forgotten, so as not to put you in danger on the road. Auto-Moto tells you which ones! Avoid crossing your hands on the steering wheel It's a mistake we've all made at some point in our driving lives, and yet it can get very expensive. Indeed, you risk getting your brushes tangled in an emergency , which could then lead you directly to the accident, when this situation could have easily been avoided with a good placement of the hands. In a turn, just remember to raise the hand on the side where you want to turn up the steering wheel, before pulling the steering wheel in the desired direction. You can then let the latter return to its initial position alone or help it by doing the same maneuver in the other direction. Don't put your hand on top of the steering wheel Be careful, this does not contradict the previous paragraph! On the other hand, avoid driving as much as possible with your hand on top of the steering wheel for a long time. This could indeed prove to be very dangerous in the event of an accident, whereas most recent cars are now equipped with an airbag located in the center of the steering wheel. If a collision then occurs, it explodes and could then seriously injure you, either by causing a fracture of the arm, or by propelling the latter in your face. Suffice to say that it is better to avoid ... Don't drive with one hand It is true that it can be very tempting, especially after long hours of travel, when the concentration gradually wanes. However, try to keep both hands on the wheel, for obvious safety reasons. In an emergency, it will be more difficult for you to maneuver the car if you only drive with one hand, especially if you have to avoid. It should also be noted that while it is not strictly forbidden to eat or drink while driving, the Highway Code specifies that “ all drivers must constantly remain in good condition and in a position to carry out conveniently and without delay all the maneuvers which incumbent on him ". If the police judge that your behavior is dangerous, they can then sanction you with a fine of 35 €.
  4. The shutdown of schools, libraries, gyms and extracurricular activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic has parents and teachers worried about the toll on children’s learning and development. But children aren’t the only ones at risk. Young people need enrichment to build cognitive capacity, while adults, especially older ones, need it to maintain cognitive capacity and prevent neurodegeneration. In particular, decades of research show that mental, physical and social stimulation is one of the potential ways to ward off Alzheimer’s disease. Studies have compared the cognitive performance of mice who live alone in empty cages with those who live in large houses equipped with colorful Lego blocks for mental stimulation, running wheels for exercise and other mice for social engagement. When mice lived in rich environments, their brains underwent physical changes: More neurons were generated in the brain’s memory center, the hippocampus, and strong synaptic activity supported learning. Even mice that had their genomes altered to develop the equivalent of Alzheimer’s experienced enhanced brain activity and performed better in maze tests that they had previously flunked. Mental stimulation can take various forms, from pursuing higher education or working at a challenging job to reading a book, playing cards or doing puzzles. The human need for enrichment isn’t that different. For us, mental stimulation takes various forms, from pursuing higher education or working at a mentally challenging job to reading a book, playing cards or doing puzzles. Using our brain helps to maintain and increase its sharpness. A classic study published in the journal PNAS in 2000 showed that London taxi drivers, who must learn to navigate thousands of locations in the city, show an enlargement in the brain region responsible for spatial navigation. Likewise, studies show that people who frequently engage in mentally stimulating activities can preserve their cognitive function and prevent the onset of Alzheimer’s. For example, in a study of one community in Chicago, older adults were scored on how much they participated in mentally stimulating activities using a 5-point scale, 5 being most frequent and 1 being least frequent. Four years later, those who scored higher were found less likely to develop Alzheimer’s. In fact, a one-point increase in the activity score was associated with a 64% reduction in disease risk. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS What steps are you taking to stay mentally and socially active as you get older? Join the conversation below. When it comes to physical exercise, cognitive researchers favor aerobic exercises such as jogging and cycling over anaerobic exercises such as weightlifting. Aerobic exercises can get our heart pumping, increase blood flow to the brain, boost oxygen and nutrient supply, protect neurons from oxidative stress and fight inflammation. An analysis of 10 studies with a combined 23,000 participants found that physically active older adults were 40% less likely to develop Alzheimer’s.
  5. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has warned of an attempted military coup, after the country's armed forces said he and his cabinet must resign. The army "must obey the people and elected authorities," he told thousands of supporters in the capital Yerevan. His opponents held a rival rally. The military's top brass was angered by the PM's sacking of a commander. Mr Pashinyan has faced protests after losing last year's bloody conflict with Azerbaijan over a disputed region. Nagorno-Karabakh is an enclave internationally recognised as part of Azerbaijan but which had been controlled by ethnic Armenians since a 1994 truce. During the six-weeks of fighting late in 2020, Azerbaijan not only recaptured areas around the enclave but also took the key town of Shusha inside it. Viewpoint: Unlikely victors in Karabakh conflict Why did Armenia and Azerbaijan go to war? Under the Russian-brokered deal that emerged shortly afterwards, Azerbaijan keeps the areas it has captured. Hundreds of Russian peacekeepers are deployed in the disputed area. What is Pashinyan's defence? In a Facebook video post on Thursday, Mr Pashinyan, 45, said he considered a statement by the military earlier on Thursday an "attempted military coup". He urged his backers to gather on Republic Square in the heart of Yerevan, and was seen shortly afterwards surrounded by thousands of supporters on the streets of the city. "The army is not a political institution and attempts to involve it in political processes are unacceptable," he told his supporters. But he invited the opposition to hold talks on how to resolve the crisis, stressing that any change in power must take place "only through elections". Meanwhile, opposition supporters staged a rival demonstration in the capital, insisting that Mr Pashinyan must go. Vazgen Manukyan, one of the opposition leaders, urged the crowds to start blocking the parliament, saying lawmakers should be brought in to vote for Mr Pashinyan's dismissal. "Get ready, we will stay here all night and will block the street with barricades," he was quoted as saying by the Armenpress news agency. Mr Pashinyan, a former journalist, took office after leading a peaceful 2018 revolution in the post-Soviet state. He has recently survived several attempts in parliament to dismiss him.

  8. LG tonight announced that the company’s webOS smart TV platform will soon be found on TVs from other brands. RCA, Ayonz, and Konka are some of the companies that have already signed on. “This has the potential to reshape the TV business for both technology and content providers while significantly growing LG’s presence and prominence in the global home entertainment market,” LG said in a press release. The news comes after LG revealed a significantly overhauled version of webOS at CES in January. On LG’s 2021 TVs, the slide-up “blades” interface has been ditched entirely in favor of a more traditional scrolling home screen. I’ve seen a wide range in opinions from LG’s existing TV customers; some like the new look since it resembles a streaming device and seems easier to use. Others who’ve come to appreciate the more colorful and “fun” webOS hope LG will keep webOS 6 off their TVs from 2020 and earlier. I’ll need some more time with the software before I can weigh in. But that redesign isn’t something that buyers of licensed webOS TVs will have to think about — at least not yet. LG tells me that the “powered by webOS TV” platform is based on webOS 5.0. So it’ll look just the same as LG TVs from the last several years. In licensing its platform to other TV brands, LG is following in the footsteps of Roku and Amazon, each of which has joined with third parties to release Roku TVs and Fire TV Edition TVs, respectively. Here’s what LG says its partners will get out of the deal: Licensees of webOS TV receive the familiar and highly acclaimed UX design along with a rich pool of features such as voice search and control, integrated AI algorithms, and easy connectivity that have earned webOS positive industry and consumer accolades. With LG webOS TV, partners also get a diversity of content options including access to global streaming service apps such as Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video and sports streaming service DAZN as well as LG Channels, the company’s free premium content streaming service. Compatible TV models also include the dedicated Magic Motion remote controller. What’s in it for LG? The company will have control over the TV software experience across more devices — and also take in more advertising revenue. Expanding webOS to more TVs will get the ad-sponsored LG Channels in front of new eyes. This approach also gives LG more user data to make improvements to webOS, which will in turn benefit the company’s own TV lineup.
  9. We currently import a large part of our laptops and tablets for consumption. The proposed scheme is likely to benefit major global as well as domestic manufacturers of IT hardware products such as Laptops, Tablet, chairman of ICEA said The Indian government’s new production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware will add Rs. 2.45 lakh crore to India’s electronics exports over the next four years, said the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA). The industry body represents electronics companies in India. “It is a strong beginning by the Government of India (GOI) to cover the IT hardware sector followed by the PLI for the mobile manufacturing sector. We currently import a large part of our laptops and tablets for consumption. The proposed scheme is likely to benefit major global as well as domestic manufacturers of IT hardware products such as Laptops, Tablets," said Pankaj Mohindroo, Chairman of the ICEA. In an effort to increase India’s manufacturing base, the Indian government extended its PLI scheme to the IT hardware and pharma sectors today. The scheme, worth Rs. 7350 crore, will offer 1-4% cash incentives on net incremental sales (over base year 2019-20) for IT products manufactured in India. This includes laptops, tablets and more. The government had earlier offered similar schemes for the mobile manufacturing and telecom sectors. Mohindroo said the scheme will help add 1.8 lakh jobs to the sector. According to the ICEA, the domestic domestic market for laptops and tablets is expected to reach $7-10bn by 2025. The global market will swell to $220 billion in the same time. According to a report by Reuters from last week, American tech giant Apple is planning to move partial production of its iPad tablets on the back of these schemes. Apple iPad supplier BYD is awaiting approvals from the government to enter India right now.
  10. Blizzard announced today that World of Warcraft Classic will soon include its first expansion, The Burning Crusade. If you're already level 60 in WoW Classic (or plan on getting there soon), having a whole new continent to explore is obviously exciting, but brand new players and everyone in between have a reason to get excited too: Blizzard will be offering a one-time level 58 character boost so you can jump straight into the Dark Portal when Burning Crusade Classic launches later this year. The catch? You have to pay for it, and you can only do it once. "This boost is really meant for you to come and play with your friends," WoW Classic production director Patrick Dawson told me. "It's not meant to be a way to avoid leveling. That's part of what Classic is meant to be—all those levels that you earned matter. The reason that this is important for us is that we also know community matters and playing with your friends matters. So providing people with the opportunity to do this once, so they can't just get as many characters as they want, lets you play the character that you want alongside your friends who maybe have been playing and putting in that time and investment into getting multiple [level 60 characters]." For a long time World of Warcraft has sold level boosts so players can jump straight into the new expansion. When you buy Shadowlands, the current one for modern WoW, you get one of those level boosts for free, but you can also buy as many as you want. But the level boost players can purchase in Burning Crusade Classic is going to have a lot more restrictions on it. Here's what we know so far: RECOMMENDED VIDEOS FOR YOU... video playingWorld of Warcraft: Shadowlands | PC Gamer Review Romeo & Juliet test the Blue Yeti X World of... 21/10/20Romeo & Juliet test the Blue Yeti X World of Warcraft Mic | PC Gamer Theatre PC Gamer - Unboxing World of Warcraft:... 06/12/10PC Gamer - Unboxing World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collectors Edition Exploring the world of Horizon Zero Dawn | PC... 15/09/20Exploring the world of Horizon Zero Dawn | PC Gamer Supported Content The Top 100 Showcase: Monster Hunter World |... 08/09/20The Top 100 Showcase: Monster Hunter World | PC Gamer The PC Gamer Show 189: Chivalry 2, Amazon's... 20/02/20The PC Gamer Show 189: Chivalry 2, Amazon's New World MMO, Hardspace: Shipbreaker You can only purchase one level boost per account, since the intention isn't to let players skip leveling multiple characters but let those without level 60 characters jump into Burning Crusade right away. You cannot level boost a blood elf or draenei character (the two new races added in Burning Crusade) You can only use the boost on a Burning Crusade character. If you have a character that isn't transferring over to Burning Crusade Classic when it launches, you'll have to level it the old fashioned way. All that seems well and good, but I was surprised that Blizzard wouldn't just give the level boost away for free—especially since it's just a way to help players catch up with their friends. "Our philosophy around boosts is that they're entirely optional, and we always want to be considerate of the amount of effort it takes to level up a character and how much pride players feel in that accomplishment," Dawson explained. "And while they're a super convenient way for players to get a character ready to join their friends or their guilds, especially when it's time for a new content update or a new expansion, it's important to put some limitations in place on the boosts, including making them an optional service. And we approach that in different ways for different facets of World of Warcraft. Burning Crusade Classic is included in players’ subscriptions—unlike Shadowlands, for example, where you can get a boost as part of an expansion purchase—so we’re taking an approach that we feel is right for WoW Classic and its community. That also includes restrictions such as not being able to boost blood elves or draenei, and not being able to use the boost on a character in the Classic Era." I can see Dawson's point, but considering how exorbitantly expensive WoW's account services like server transfers ($25), race ($25) and faction ($30) changes are, it sucks having one more thing to pay for—especially during a pandemic when a lot of people are already hurting financially. I asked Dawson how much Blizzard would charge for the Burning Crusade Classic level boost, but he didn't comment. I'm praying it doesn't cost as much as the current Shadowlands level boost, though, which is a whopping $60. Hopefully Blizzard will consider a much more reasonable price, but either way the message it sends is frustrating. It feels like Blizzard is overcompensating on behalf of people who might be irked that others got to level 60 without putting in any effort, but there's also no denying that level boosts are just a way to generate profit out of thin air. Blizzard is already imposing heavy limitations on the Burning Crusade level boost, so charging extra just feels like an unnecessary tax that only serves to punch down at people who maybe don't have a lot of money to spend in the first place.
  11. Lexus has partnered with the Twitch community to create a very special IS, equipped with all the essentials for video game enthusiasts. It is undeniable that the automobile and technology are two closely linked fields. This has been happening for many years now, while the phenomenon continues to grow over time, as proven by certain manufacturers, present at CES in Las Vegas and abandoning traditional car shows. Whether in terms of safety, motorization or infotainment, technological innovations are playing an increasingly important role in cars. But in addition to providing some added value, these devices also make it possible to attract other, younger customers. And it is precisely this one that Lexus wanted to addressin its latest communications campaign, which fits perfectly with the times. And for good reason, the Japanese brand has partnered with Twitch and called on the community of the streaming site to create a car unlike any other. In total, more than 550,000 users of this service, created in 2011 and having experienced a boom in use since the start of the Coronavirus epidemic, have participated in the project. The goal ? Design a tailor-made vehicle for gamers, with all the necessary material and equipment. For this, it is the Lexus IS 350 F that served as the basis for this somewhat crazy project, as explained Vinay Shahani, the brand's vice president of marketing. “ The Twitch community has plunged head-first into its passion for gaming, as we did when designing the 2021 Lexus IS as the pure expression of the sport sedan. […] We asked them for their help in designing their dream play space, and they responded in numbers. Together we have created the ultimate fusion of design and performance in automotive and gaming ”. The result is a completely unusual car, which will of course remain in the draft stage, which should nevertheless not fail to be talked about. All the equipment of the enthusiast In addition to its body covered with a specific covering called Infiltrate, this Lexus IS is distinguished above all by its at least particular interior, equipped with a huge curved screen , associated with a game pad and a keyboard. Next to it, the central console is equipped with a small compartment for drinks, while the PC equipped with the MSI Gaming GeForce GPU + AMD CPU system takes place in the trunk. To complete this ultra-technological interior, the Lexus teams in charge of the project have also offered the interior of this IS an atmosphere for the less colorful called “Neon Tokyo”. In addition to the pink and blue lighting, we also discover a backlit roof sky, supposed to evoke a walk in the heart of the Japanese capital. Of course, this Lexus IS will not roll off production lines, not even as part of an ultra-limited series. On the other hand, it should tour trade shows and events, as a spokesperson for the brand claims. The objective is indeed to attract a younger clientele, by targeting those under 35, an age group particularly present on Twitch and sensitive to new technologies.
  12. Employers today often use perks to attract new talent in the form of discounts and deals, commuter funds, gym memberships, childcare, free lunches and more. But the pandemic has impacted what sort of in-office or other in-person perks employees can access. That’s led to booming growth — and now, a fundraise — for a startup called Fringe, which offers companies a personalized marketplace of perks that people really want, like Netflix, Uber, Airbnb, DoorDash, Headspace, Talkspace and over 100 other apps. The idea for Fringe came about from the co-founders’ work as financial advisors where they regularly found themselves consulting people who were weighing new job options and their associated benefits. “Companies are spending a lot money on traditional benefits…$800, $1,000 a month per person. But the perceived value for most employees is relatively small, given the cost,” explains Fringe CEO Jordan Peace. “I started thinking about what could [companies] offer employees that would be a pretty low actual cost, but a really high perceived value?” He landed on the idea of subscription services — things people use all the time in their daily lives, but sometimes feel just out of reach from a budgetary standpoint. That’s where Fringe comes in. Employers sign up for access to Fringe’s platform at a starting cost of $5 per employee per month. (The rate may decrease for larger organizations.) They then place the dollars they would normally spend on lifestyle benefits into the Fringe accounts of their employees, where they’re converted to “points” that can be spent on any of the apps and services. Today, the marketplace offers a range of benefits, including streaming services like Netflix, Spotify, Disney+, and Audible, as well as virtual fitness, virtual coaching and wellness, online therapy like Talkspace, food and grocery delivery, like Grubhub, Uber Eats, Instacart, and Shipt, prepackaged meals, childcare like UrbanSitter, and more. In the U.S., there are 135 services partners to choose from, with another couple hundred that are available overseas. The startup’s business model involves negotiating a discount of anywhere from 10% to up to 60% off these services, which it passes along to the employees through its points back (rebate) system. Initially, it only allowed employees to spend their employer-provided lifestyle benefits dollars on Fringe. But due to user demand, it later opened up to allow employees to spend their own money, too — a feature they wanted specifically because of the points back. Fringe first launched in 2019 — well ahead of the pandemic — and saw some slow but steady growth. It ended the year with 15 clients, representing a couple of hundred employees in total. But then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, which sent a number of employees to work from home in a radical change to business culture that appears to have lasting impacts. “After the dust settled from the first few months of COVID, we started getting 10…20 times more inbound interest,” Peace says, as companies realized Fringe could be a way to support their employees working from home. “We were just in the right place at the right time to begin to profit from this changed workplace. And it’s not just a ‘pandemic perk.’ We’re going to get past COVID, and we’re still going to have two-thirds of people working from home. The workplace has changed,” he adds. Image Credits: Fringe CEO Jordan Peace By the end of 2020, Fringe had grown its client base to over 70 employers, representing now over 12,000 users on its platform. Today, its pipeline includes companies with between 200 and 2,000 employees — a sweet spot that allows them to move relatively quickly. This client base often includes tech companies, like car-sharing startup Turo or talent management system Cornerstone OnDemand, for example. This year, Fringe expects to grow to well over 100,000 users on its platform, and increase its own team’s headcount, which is today around 20. It also plans to update its marketplace website to include things like automatic point gifting, charitable giving, new Slack integrations, improved navigation, and more. As a result of the recent growth, Fringe has raised $2.2 million in new funding, in a round led by Sovereign’s Capital, with participation from Felton Group, Manchester Story, the Center for Innovative Technology, and angel investors, including Jaffray Woodriff. As part of this investment, the company also added longtime advisor William Boland, Senior Director of Corporate Development and Strategy at Mission Lane, to its Board of Directors. With the addition of the new funds, the startup’s total raise to date is $4 million. Fringe believes the advantage of its marketplace is that it can be personalized to the user. Typically, employers determine what benefits to offer by running employee surveys, where the majority wins. That’s why many companies today provide perks like backup child care or discounted gym access. But this system discounts the minority’s needs — people who may not have kids or don’t want to work out. People who wish they could use their benefits dollars in a different way. In addition to employee perks, Fringe believes that having so many subscriptions under one roof could present other opportunities further down the line. Woodriff, for example, sees Fringe’s potential as a big data play, in terms of who is signing up for what subscriptions and why. “But if you think about the fact that you’ve got a subscription service marketplace…there’s more applications to that than just employee benefits,” Peace explains. “I’d like our Series A to be to be predicated upon the much greater total addressable market. And so I think we’re going to spend the next year to 18 months laying down concrete plans and building the tech to be ready to roll out a couple of different use cases,” he says. 13. Former child star Mara Wilson has used an essay expressing solidarity with singer Britney Spears to speak about how she was "sexualised" by the public and media when she was growing up. The Mrs Doubtfire and Matilda actress said she had been "photoshopped into child pornography" before she was 12. Now 33, Wilson said she and Spears had been written into a "narrative" about the "dark paths" taken by child stars. "Our culture builds these girls up just to destroy them," she continued. Wilson, whose films included the 1994 remake of Miracle on 34th Street, retreated from the limelight when she entered her teenage years and is now a voice artist and author. Writing in the New York Times, she said decided not to follow the path of teenage actresses who appeared on the covers of lad mags or in provocative music videos. "I had already been sexualized anyway, and I hated it," she said. She wrote that she had "never appeared in anything more revealing than a knee-length sundress" in her films as a child. "This was all intentional: My parents thought I would be safer that way. But it didn't work. People had been asking me, 'Do you have a boyfriend?' in interviews since I was six. Reporters asked me who I thought the sexiest actor was and about Hugh Grant's arrest for soliciting a prostitute. "It was cute when 10-year-olds sent me letters saying they were in love with me. It was not when 50-year-old men did. Before I even turned 12, there were images of me on foot fetish websites and photoshopped into child pornography. Every time, I felt ashamed. "Hollywood has resolved to tackle harassment in the industry, but I was never sexually harassed on a film set. My sexual harassment always came at the hands of the media and the public." Britney Spears 'taking time to be a normal person' Why the media is saying sorry to Britney Spears Her opinion piece follows the airing of Framing Britney Spears, a documentary about the singer's life, career and contested legal arrangements. "Many moments of Ms Spears's life were familiar to me," Wilson continued. "We both had dolls made of us, had close friends and boyfriends sharing our secrets and had grown men commenting on our bodies." Framing Britney Spears has led to renewed criticism about the singer's treatment, and prompted apologies from her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake and some media outlets.
  14. In software development, speed is king: whoever can roll out bug-free updates the fastest wins the market. While tech companies already know this, the rest of the business community is quickly catching on. Senior leaders at companies are recognizing that their businesses — whether their primary industry is car manufacturing or food service or finance — is also becoming a software business. Software now controls factories, manages inventory, trades stocks and increasingly is the most important interface with customers. But if software is the key to staying competitive, companies need to maximize the productivity of their expensive and scarce software developers. Automation of time-wasting tasks is the quickest way to do so. Take a look at the user interface of new car entertainment systems — most look pretty much the same as they did in cars from five years ago. Most drivers prefer Google Maps over their own car map system for its superior user interface and up-to-the-second accuracy. Food service companies continue to waste food because they are unable to predict demand. Such examples are everywhere, but not because better solutions don’t exist. Projects are backlogged and subject to triage as developers work to keep up. As companies race to catch up, however, they’re also quickly learning a hard second lesson: there are not enough software developers available to write all the necessary code, and demand is only going up. Writing software requires not just many hours of painstaking work handcrafting millions of lines of code, but also time to test that code. Developers surveyed in 2019 said they spend 35% of their time testing software. As more companies move ahead with digital transformations, workloads for developers are rising and qualified staff is harder to find. Because companies can’t simply conjure more developers, they’re left with one choice: find a way to do more with the staff they have. That may be easier to accomplish than it sounds. Few C-suite executives understand the inefficiencies buried in their software development processes and how addressing those inefficiencies can significantly sharpen their competitive edge. With advances in artificial intelligence and greater automation of the software creation process, it’s increasingly possible to relieve developers of the important but routine and repetitive tasks that currently take up as much as half their time — tasks like writing unit tests, which verify that code behaves as expected. CEOs and CTOs should ask how often their organization deploys software. If it’s only a few times a year or less, they likely need an automated software pipeline to stay competitive. And competitive businesses understand that parts of that pipeline are ripe for automation every year. Now, the time is ripe to automate testing. AI can create bottlenecks — but also resolve them. Not all of the software development workflow can be automated, but gradual improvements in technology have made it possible to automate increasingly significant tasks: Twenty years ago, a developer at SUN Microsystems created an automated system — eventually named Jenkins — that removed many of the bottlenecks in the continuous integration and continuous delivery software pipeline. Three years ago, Facebook rolled out a tool called Getafix, which learns from engineers’ past code repairs to recommend bug fixes. Ultimately these advances — which save developers significant time — will limit failures and downtimes and ensure reliability and resilience, which can directly impact revenue. But as AI speeds up the creation of software, the amount of code that needs to be tested is piling up faster than developers can effectively maintain. Luckily, automation — and new automated tools — can help with this, too. Historically, key tasks that require developers to manually write code have been harder to automate. For example, unit testing — in which the smallest discrete pieces of code are checked — has become a cornerstone of enterprise software, and another common bottleneck that until only recently has become possible to address with automation tools. Unit tests are written and run by software developers to ensure that a section of an application behaves as intended. Because unit tests run early and quickly, at the time the code is being written, developers can fix problems as they write code and ship finished software much faster as a result. But writing unit tests is a tedious, error-prone, and time-consuming exercise that takes away from their more creative work — work that also makes money for the business — as testers comb back over their colleagues’ work. And testing is, in many ways, more labor intensive than software construction. For every unit of software, tests must be written for performance, for functionality, for security, and so on. It’s a $12 billion industry, yet nearly all of that money is spent on manual effort, much of it outsourced. Here’s where automation comes in. Algorithms — whether developed internally or in readymade tools — can write tests exponentially faster than human developers and automatically maintain the tests as the code evolves. What’s more, the automated tests can be written in a way that humans can easily understand. This represents a remarkable opportunity to save skilled labor when applications these days can involve tens of millions of lines of code. Adopting this kind of automation offers companies a few significant advantages. First, it allows for testing that simply wouldn’t have happened before. More than simply replacing labor automation can do necessary work that many companies are currently overlooking because it’s too labor intensive. Many of the services and applications that now power the world are massive in scale. No one person has a complete vision of everything that’s going on. Companies have reams of legacy code that has never been properly unit tested. As the code evolves, quality issues develop, but the companies can’t afford to rewrite or start over. Without good tests that run early, it is very easy to introduce new bugs when iterating and upgrading software, requiring a huge, time-consuming effort to find and fix them later on — which limits how often the code can be released Consider a case from banking. Hundreds of millions of lines of code, for example, run the biggest banks in the world. For banking applications developed entirely in-house, conflicts can arise as the software evolves, particularly when companies are shipping new versions faster. Consumers have come to expect automatic updates and increasing functionality over time, so many banks are adopting continuous integration and continuous delivery, shrinking the turnaround time for developing a new feature or making a change to the code from months to minutes. To address this, banks such as Goldman Sachs have started using AI to automate the writing of unit tests, and other financial institutions will likely follow. Second, it allows them to push new software and updates more often. Data collected by the authors of Accelerate, the bible for this model of software development, showed that organizations that push code more often also have a fifth the failure rate and are 170 times faster at recovering from software downtime. Finally, the time saved by developers can be spent solving more challenging problems and thinking up new ways to make users happier. A less obvious benefit is that it gives developers the breathing space to deal with unplanned work, changes to the plan to meet customer needs, or improvement work. This helps employers retain engineering talent, but also means developers can react more quickly. The future of software development is automation. Automation is coming to all parts of the software development process, some sooner than others — as AI systems become increasingly powerful, the options for automation will only grow. OpenAI’s massive language model, GPT-3, can already be used to translate natural human language into web page designs and may eventually be used to automate coding tasks. But eventually, large portions of the software construction, delivery, and maintenance supply chain are going to be handled by machines. AI will, in time, automate the writing of application software altogether. For now, though, CEOs and CTOs should look to the areas that can currently be automated, such as the writing of unit tests and other low-level but critical tasks. And, they should stay on the lookout for other areas where they can eventually do the same as technology advances. Finally, leaders need to build these expectations into long-term business plans, because companies who don’t are headed for a very tight bottleneck.

  16. Last week a small group of hackers released something pretty remarkable on Github: the reverse-engineered source code for both Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The project was years in the making, and its main purpose seems to have been both improving the experience on modern machines (with things like widescreen support) and being something of a collaborative tool for modders to more easily mess with the game (Eurogamer has an interesting writeup on the background). The projects can be seen in action below, demonstrating some of the quality-of-life improvements made to both titles (GTAIII's Steam port is not great) and functionality of stuff like the debug menu. They use the existing games' PC assets along with the reverse-engineered source code: hence the respective names of Re3 (reverse-engineered 3) and reVC (reverse-engineered Vice City). Following its release on February 17, the project attracted considerable attention, and somewhat inevitably the great clunking fist of Take-Two's lawyers has come crashing down (Take-Two being Rockstar's parent company). The work and its various forks have now been removed from Github, and a DMCA notice received from Take-Two has been posted. "The content in the links below consists of copyrighted materials owned by Take-Two. The use of our copyrighted content in these links are unauthorized and it should be removed immediately." Take-Two issued the notice against the main modding project page, and links hundreds of individual user pages that were hosting it. "The work is not licensed in any way," says the notice. "The best and only solution is complete removal of the aforementioned pages." A note from Github makes clear that it's acted not just against the instances cited by Rockstar, but any appearance of the project on its site. "Because the parent repository was actively being forked when this DMCA takedown notice was received, and the submitter had identified all known forks at the time they submitted the takedown notice, GitHub processed the takedown notice against the entire fork network." This is what one might call unsurprising. Most fan-made projects fly under the radar, for various reasons, but Grand Theft Auto is one of the biggest brands in the world, and the games in question are still being sold across multiple platforms. As soon as this attracted notice, Take-Two's actions were inevitable. The project will of course live on in plenty of archives, no matter how much whack-a-mole Take-Two's lawyers have the patience for. But the kind of collaborative work that the makers of Re3 and ReVC were hoping for may now be something of a pipe dream, and it's sad to see so much effort hit by cold, legal reality. There are no winners here: though, if anything comes of it, perhaps Rockstar will wake up to the fact that people want well-optimised versions of their older titles.
  17. The prestigious BMW R nineT is available in a Pure version accessible with the A2 license restricted to 47.5 hp. But does the legendary 1200 boxer engine retain its strong character with half the muscle? New enthusiasts of the motorcycle license can now ride on a “behem” with the legendary flat twin 1170 cm3 air / oil cooled. The Bavarian brand indeed offers a Pure version of its vintage roadster limited to 47.5 hp for the first two years of license then "unbridable" to 95 hp thereafter. This BMW R nineT Pure for beginners and beginners differs from the standard R nineT by the presence of a smaller telescopic fork (43 mm instead of 46) with brake calipers with axial (and not radial) mountings. The Pure is also satisfied with standard spoked rims but can receive spoke rims for 415 €. The small needle instrumentation counter is in keeping with the stripped down style of this classic roadster. No tachometer or fuel gauge and even less gear indicator engaged. However, the tiny digital screen integrates a fairly complete on-board computer with different trips and an engine temperature indicator. There is also a USB socket well hidden under the left of the tank. Like all BMWs, the R nineT Pure does not mess around with safety and comes standard with cornering-regulated ABS and traction control (known as ASC). For 1100 €, the Finition Pro pack adds a finer modulation of the traction control (then called DTC) which adapts according to the driving modes and integrates an additional Pro mode offering better reactivity of the accelerator. This pack also includes an alarm, cruise control, heated grips, Armed like a robot, this roadster regains its vintage spirit by starting the big Boxer which vibrates from left to right to snort. The thin saddle at the crotch makes life much easier for small riders who can put their feet flat on the ground. The low center of gravity, linked to the architecture of the engine, ensures excellent balance and facilitates maneuvering. As soon as the first report is engaged, the German shows incredible softness and flexibility at all levels. The clutch, the gearbox, the brakes. Each control engages with perfect precision and dosage. And the twin accepts to evolve under regime without knocking too much. Great art. Every beginner should learn to drive on this. With 91 Nm of torque from 3500 rpm, the Boxer retains a nasty punch. Certainly not very long since it runs out of steam sooner but still very strong to the point of requesting traction control and steering damper. Although the maximum speed is limited to 160 km / h, the times allow lightning overtaking and stability on fast track reassures. This restricted version is therefore absolutely nothing frustrating and allows you to take advantage of this engine with its unique character and sound. The only downside is the comfort. Despite excellent suspensions, the BMW R nineT Pure imposes a driving position a little too forward with the knees very bent which quickly becomes tiring on the long court. The absence of a nose screen is just as much an incentive to limit travel times. Another concern is the price of course. Count € 13,500 excluding options and over € 16,000 for a well-equipped model like ours. Ouch!
  18. The Mauritanian" movie is the latest cinematic work that depicts the debilitating experiences of the inmates of the prison at the US naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Will this film have the greatest impact on this level at least so far, compared to other works that have been presented before in this context? A question asked by Hannah Flint in the following lines. When actor Taher Rahim was asked to star in the movie "The Mauritanian" by Scottish director Kevin MacDonald; This epic work, which deals with the story of a person named Mohamedou Ould Salahi, was detained for 14 years in Guantanamo Bay detention center without charges being brought against him. Rahim was aware of the news circulating, about reports indicating that the guards at this US naval base located in Cuba were abusing prisoners, but this Algerian-French representative - to be honest - could not imagine that "a country like the United States could allow its soldiers to treat people properly." This is like this. " However, after signing the contract to star in the film, which is based on Ould Slahi's diary entitled "Guantanamo diary", he began to search for more information in this regard, and then everything changed. In statements to the BBC, Rahim said: “I read the script, read the notes, watched documentaries, and spoke with Muhammadu (Ould Salahi) himself, and so I was satisfied with participating in the film. But I was sad and angry, because I learned that this is a true story Before the attacks of September 2001, the most famous film about Guantanamo was the 1992 film "A Few Good Men", which was shown in 1992. The film, a legal drama based on the play of the same name by Aaron Sorkin, starred Tom Cruise and Demi Moore and Kevin Beckon. And these representatives played the roles of military lawyers fighting legally, on a case that is being considered by the military judiciary in the United States, in which two members of the US Marines (Marines) are accused of killing a colleague at this naval base. This movie was famous for its climactic scene, and included an interrogation by lawyer Lieutenant Daniel Caffee (Tom Cruise) of the base commander, Colonel Nathan Jessop (Jack Nicholson), in which he sought enough for Jessop to admit that he had inspired the crime of which the Marines were victim, and that he stood behind the efforts made It was then made to cover up what happened. Perhaps those who watched the work will still remember enough shouting in the commander’s face, saying, “I want the truth,” so that Jessop responds decisively to him by saying, “You will not be able to bear the truth.” In order to protect their homelands. On the witness stand, Jessop addressed the lawyer, saying, “It is built; we live in a world that has walls, which should be guarded by men armed with rifles. Who should do this? You? I have neither the time nor the desire, to explain my position to a man. He wakes up and falls asleep under the cover of the freedom that I am providing him, and then comes to wonder how I am giving him this freedom. I would have preferred to say to me 'Thank you' and then go your way. Later developments showed that Guantanamo made the background for this Jessop statement. It was insightful. Since former US President George W. Bush made this base a detention center in 2002, to send to the terrorists believed to be involved in the 9/11 attacks, this spot has become the subject of a fierce debate about the powers that the US military should have in this. The matter, and whether or not the end actually justifies the means

  20. At some point, it makes sense for almost every business to outsource some portion of the information technology functions — whether it's a small business outsourcing its website design or a large business outsourcing its entire IT operations. Outsourcing often reaps serious benefits, such as lowering costs, ensuring a continuous presence for customers or clients, or providing instant access to a cohesive business unit that can deliver the results needed. However, it can have its drawbacks. When a company is looking for help with its IT applications, outsourcing usually either happens very locally or very remotely. It's either a friendly business down the road or a company based halfway across the world. It doesn't have to be that way. PROMOTED Civic Nation BRANDVOICE | Paid Program There And Back Again: Charting A Course For Student Success Grads of Life BRANDVOICE | Paid Program The Gateway Jobs That Can Open Opportunity For Workers Skilled Through Alternative Routes UNICEF USA BRANDVOICE | Paid Program UNICEF Helps Traumatized Children Learn To Forget In South Sudan Nearshore outsourcing is a process of delegating some tasks — in particular, software development and business processes — to companies in neighboring countries to get better control over operational expenditures. This can provide cultural proximity, a convenient location and the same or similar language. Easy Communication Without Cultural Clashes Nearshore outsourcing can provide time zone parity. Simply put, this means your time zones are roughly similar. There are four time zones in the continental United States and six in total when you add in Alaska and Hawaii. This can create some logistical issues at times. If you add in software support providers who are based on the other side of the world, it can be difficult to set up meetings and get answers quickly. In a crisis, this can mean vital lost hours. Many of the countries in the Caribbean as well as in Mexico and Central America are in a U.S. time zone, making collaboration simple and effective. When you have issues, you can call someone and get a solution during business hours. You can also have the advantage of shared perspectives and cultural understanding. The U.S. is certainly a powerhouse in terms of its entertainment and cultural output. However, the further away you get from the U.S., the less its cultural norms are understood. This can prove to be a major disadvantage when considering design, themes and the acceptability of references. Nearshoring your software development can ensure that you have access to teams with shared points of reference to local norms, keeping your customers happier. Lower Costs Of course, there wouldn't be any point in outsourcing if there wasn't some sort of cost savings. Using a business focused on software development rather than hiring in-house reduces the cost of acquisition, lowers HR expenses and spreads out ancillary costs (including non-IT costs). It also means that you don't have to hire staff who understand the technicalities of software development — including IT managers — or develop a comprehensive road map for completing the overall project. Nearshoring software development means you provide direction (which is a given for any project), but you don't necessarily need to divide the project up across multiple teams and assign priorities. Your outsourcer can do most of that instead. A good nearshore software outsourcer should have a large, dedicated team that can handle this. It's also usually cheaper to travel to a nearshore operation compared to a completely offshore outsourcer. Depending on the nature of the project, it may make sense to consider this aspect. What To Consider When Exploring Nearshore Outsourcing As with any tool, nearshore outsourcing can be extremely beneficial for a company, but only if used wisely. When choosing a location, companies should research the level of employee training in the country of interest, its laws and the level of intellectual property security. Knowing the country's general economics as well as the prospective partner's experience, manpower and technological understanding is also of advantage. It can also be very useful to ensure the nearshore outsourcing company has a U.S.-based management team to ensure it understands the demands and expectations of U.S. businesses and can train its software developers and engineers accordingly. Ultimately, when done correctly, nearshoring can provide some serious advantages in terms of cost, compatibility and communication.

Bundles of R6 credits amounting to $5 can also be earned in the pass, so you can get a discount on the next one if you're dedicated.
  23. Weight penalty and reduction of the ecological bonus are the two major novelties for 2021. Discover the new calculation methods and amounts. (Updated on 12/31/2020 at 9:35 am) Penalty reduced on January 1 then reduced bonus on July 1. It is now official, the new ecological penalty grid will indeed come into force in a few days, with a new trigger threshold and a raised ceiling. An ever more severe scale which will evolve further in the years to come, while the ecological bonus will be revised downwards during the summer. Most of the 2021 bonus malus novelties: Malus (modification on January 1, 2021) The new CO2 penalty grid starts at 133 g CO2 / km (138 g in 2020) The CO2 penalty ceiling is set at 30,000 euros (20,000 euros in 2020) An additional penalty to the weight will be added in 2022 beyond 1,800 kg (10 euros per additional kg) => The new 2021 CO2 penalty scale Bonus (modification on July 1, 2021) 6,000 euros for the purchase of an electric vehicle invoiced for less than 45,000 euros from July 1, 2021 (7,000 euros in 2020 and early 2021) 2,000 euros for the purchase of a plug-in hybrid vehicle from July 1, 2021 (3,000 euros in 2020 and early 2021) The conversion premium is maintained at 3,000 euros for low-income households => Ecological bonus: decrease to be expected 2021 ecological bonus Aid for the purchase of vehicles deemed "clean" will be maintained at the 2020 level for the first six months of 2021 in order to encourage the recovery of the sector after the second period of confinement. But everything changes on July 1. From 7,000 euros during the post-containment period, the bonus for the purchase of a new electric car (invoiced less than 45,000 euros) will increase to 6,000 euros in mid-2021 . In addition, vehicles billed between 45,000 and 60,000 euros benefit until June 30 from a boost of 2,000 euros. This will not be the case afterwards… Think about it if you are considering buying a Tesla . On the plug-in hybrid side , the premium drops to 2,000 euros on July 1 , against 3,000 euros in 2020 and at the start of 2021. Like last year, the vehicle must be able to travel more than 50 km in 100 mode. % electric to benefit from this assistance. They also make use of various software that enhance their productivity. Human resources experts have made the smart decision of integrating technology with many human resource functions. Without a doubt, this has made it necessary for human resource staff to constantly surf the web for software that would upscale the HR practice. The whole idea of utilizing software is to make a particular task easier and faster. Any software that doesn’t give these rewards should be jettisoned, regardless of how fancy and appealing the given software appears. Here are some of the qualities to look for a successful HR software: 1. Easy to Understand and Use Human Resource is not computer science or engineering. Whatever HR software we’re talking about, it should have the advantage of easy comprehension, and it should be written in a clear language with preferably no code. Also, the software should easy to use. The HR consultant should not enroll in a coding class to understand the logic behind software operations. 2. Payroll It’s important for HR staff that perform this function to lay their hands on a software program that makes this easy for all the parties involved. The use of software for this function, say the people behind EnableHR, reduces the possibility of errors and other anomalies. The payroll function is a vital aspect of the organization since it handles salaries, taxes, and other deductions. It’ll also aid compatibility, and individuals who need to review this before signing can easily get the hang of all the information embedded on the sheet. Again, some software offers additional services such as graphs and charts. The analysis can be useful to top management and will aid organizational decisions. 3. Cost-Effective The era of technology has necessitated the organizations’ need to appear savvy to their clients intentionally. Hence, some firms expend a lot of money on software that offers them no real benefits. It’s vital for organizations to properly weigh the pros and cons before purchasing or subscribing to a given software program. The key question here is, would the benefit outweigh the cost? 4. Security Several organizations in the past have been victims of a security breach or data proliferation. It’s crucial to ensure that data stored on the software being utilized would not become accessible to unauthorized persons. The information stored on these various platforms should be secured, and this should be discussed and reviewed extensively before the software selection process.
