  2. "We are not sick or criminals, we are artists and creative people who smoke quality, as our grandparents used to call it, and it is different from drugs and poisonous substances." This is how Ayman Rezgui, coordinator of the Movement for the Liberation of Cannabis, or Hemp, or "zatla," as Tunisians call it, began his speech. Ayman and his colleagues in the movement are working to change Law 52 of 1992 regarding drug consumption and drug trafficking offenses. Tunisian law No. 52 sti[CENSORED]tes a mandatory prison sentence of one year for everyone convicted of possession of a drug, and five years for those who repeat the same crime, and the sentences reach 10 years imprisonment for anyone who exploits any place to abuse or promote drugs. "The modern scientific approach in the world confirms that cannabis or cannabis is not classified as dangerous and harmful drugs, and it does not cause health harms or deviations in behavior for adults," Al-Rizki said in an interview with Sky News Arabia . Related news Tunisia reviews drug control law Law 52 in Tunisia ... the future of youth is a price for "Zatla" Why did criminalization come about? As for the Tunisian law criminalizing the consumption of hashish, the activist explains that the law came in a special political context during the rule of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. In the nineties, Ben Ali's brother was involved in a major international drug-promotion case, and his brother Ben Ali intervened to spare him prison terms, which embarrassed the Tunisian regime before French justice. France even accused the Ben Ali regime at the time of whitewashing the drug trade. In this historical context, Tunisia issued Law No. 52, which provides the most severe penalties on consumers of all narcotic substances for overcoming the scandal of the Tunisian regime and its whitewashing. Al-Rizqi asserted that the law "is nothing but a restraining law that is nearly 30 years old, and despite its prohibitive character, it did not limit the consumption of drugs of all kinds. It has spread more, and this law has not been proven to protect young people from the danger of drugs . It is time to think of new approaches after the law was destroyed. Al-Zajri lives more than 120,000 young people who have been subjected to imprisonment and social stigmatization due to hashish consumption. Related news Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi (Archive) Tunisian President Pardons 900 "Zatla" Prisoners " Tunisian law puts all narcotic substances in the same basket, and the situation is that there is a difference between dangerous and chemical drugs and toxic substances whose consumption must be criminalized and the Indian hemp plant or natural hashish on which no toxins are introduced." He adds, "The issue is humanitarian, and today's reality indicates that there are many creative people and artists who consume hashish and they are not dangerous elements in society, nor addicts, nor even disturbed, and stigmatizing hashish consumers and exposing them to imprisonment is unacceptable." According to Rezgui, "hashish is sold in Tunisia on the black market by criminals and smugglers, and the state should seriously consider legalizing its sale similar to what many other countries have done, especially since the sale of hashish is in the billions annually, so it has become necessary to legalize its consumption and trade instead of imprisoning and exposing young consumers. Of social exclusion. " Related news The Presidential Guard Aides Syndicate responded to the incident Tunisia ... controversy after drug seizure in a 'presidential car' Demands for change Many human rights defenders and activists agree that the law criminalizing drug consumption is a harsh law, and they have been calling for a change of it for years. The late President Beji Qaid Essebsi had previously adopted the demand to amend the drug crimes law, so that a new bill would be submitted on the basis of the consumer's right to treatment and lift the prison sentence for him, but he remained locked up. Today, he returned to the facade of the discussion about the same law and the demand to change it and free the consumption of hashish due to the incident of the Kef Governorate Court, which sentenced three young men to 30 years in prison for consuming hashish in a sports stadium. A ruling that many considered shocking and cruel, but a direct interpretation of Law No. 52, as the three young men were referred to court on charges of "creating public space for the consumption of a narcotic substance." Ramzi al-Jabbali, a civil society activist from the Kef governorate in the north of the country, said, "The accusation directed against his friends allowed them to double their sentences until they reached 30 years of imprisonment for three young men, including the unemployed and those living in difficult social conditions." Al-Jabbali stresses that the psychological state of the young men and their mothers is deteriorating, as they are in a "state of shock due to the unfair ruling" that was left by a "law against life," as he put it. Related news Archive photo of a session of the Tunisian parliament Tunisian Parliament eases the burden of the drug law The need for a review For his part, Judge Afif Al-Jaidi said, in a statement to Sky News Arabia, that "the penal policy in Tunisia regarding drug consumption needs to be reviewed, as it is based on a deterrent approach and on considering the consumer guilty, an approach that has clearly become useless. The number of consumers has risen to 200,000 cannabis consumers despite the strict injunctions. Therefore, it is necessary to start towards a new legislative approach that considers drug consumers a victim that deserves treatment. Al-Jaidi added that "the law to amend the criminalization of drug consumption was stopped in the House of Representatives due to political disputes, and the new bill was distorted on the basis that it encouraged drug consumption." He went on to say, "Entering the prison due to the consumption of hashish was a gateway for many young people to enter the world of crime and terrorism, as they were drawn into the prisons themselves." Al-Jaidi stressed the need for a new legal text to replace Law 52, to give priority to treating drug users and not to imprison them or to implement alternative penalties to imprisonment in exchange for tougher penalties for promoters and drug trafficking networks. It should be noted that a number of parties and politicians are presenting various legislative initiatives to revise Law 52, as the National Reform Bloc called for the adoption of a bill that waives prison penalties and compensates them with financial sins while increasing the penalties for promoters
  3. The software supports bearing lines, range markers, trails, closest point of approach, and camera video for security against piracy and smugglers. Military & Aerospace Electronics Staff FEB 05, 2021 This article appeared in Military & Aerospace Electronics and has been published here with permission. Cambridge Pixel's Maritime Display Framework (MDF) software design tools enable maritime integrators to speed development of automatic radar plotting aid (ARPA) radar display consoles. The software provides a .NET framework, optionally with source code, that designers can use as the starting point for a custom shipboard application that displays primary radar, radar tracks, S-57/S-63 electronic navigational charts, secondary transponder information like AIS and ADS-B, and NMEA navigation data. The MDF software can receive video from radar by Furuno, Hensoldt, JRC, Koden, Raymarine, Raytheon, Simrad, Sperry, and Terma, with control of the radar supported for certain models. The MDF software supports bearing lines, range markers, trails, closest point of approach, time to closest point of approach. It also supports camera video to integrate radar and camera display for security against piracy and smugglers. The MDF software is compatible with Cambridge Pixel's radar processing products, such as SPx Server for target tracking and SPx Fusion. The Maritime Display Framework is written in the C# language and is designed for development of a Windows WPF-based client application. The adoption of 5G will enable many industries to fast track their digital transformation, leading to better efficiencies and competitiveness. However, 5G is much more complex than previous generations. Smartphone OEMs and new wireless providers offering 5G solutions can no longer rely on component-centric approaches to meet customer expectations. To reap the full benefits of 5G, OEMs must look to a complete modem-to-antenna system solution. Complexity Tsunami The promise of delivering 5G globally can only be realized by taming RF front-end (RFFE) complexity in 5G devices. In the early stages of 4G, there were just 16 RF band carrier aggregation combinations. By contrast, we expect over 10,000 band combinations with 5G in the next few years alone, a complexity tsunami that has a direct impact on the design, assembly, and certification of 5G smartphones. From modem to antenna, new 5G mobile devices must dance between myriad frequency bands and RF technologies, including MIMO (4x4 DL, 2x2 UL); Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS); E-UTRAN New Radio – Dual Connectivity (EN-DC); beamsteering; carrier aggregation; and mmWave. Moreover, the RFFE is a tangled web of existing and new low-, mid-, and high-spectrum bands, unlicensed bands (CBRS, etc.), navigation technologies, and short-range connectivity solutions including Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth. A broad range of RF technologies and frequency bands will demand a host of new filters/power amplifiers/low-noise amplifiers on the smartphone RFFE architecture, allowing 5G smartphones to tune all of these frequencies simultaneously, precisely, and with less disturbance while requiring minimum battery power consumption.

  5. The production version of the ID.Roomzz concept, the future Volkswagen ID.6 is already showing on the web in its final form. If there is one group that is deeply involved in electricity, it is undoubtedly Volkswagen. If the Wolfsburg firm narrowly missed the target set by the European Union and therefore suffered a heavy fine for half a gram too much, we cannot however say that it did not do effort. And for good reason, whether with his new ID.3 and ID.4but also with the technical cousin of the latter, the Skoda Enyaq, the German company has given itself the means to succeed. And it seems far from over, as Volkswagen wants to expand its zero-emission range, offering a production version of each of the concepts of the ID family unveiled in recent years. It is already done while the brand therefore offers a compact and a small electric SUV. But it wants to go even further, with a more spacious model, called ID.6, and inspired by the ID.Roomzz style study , unveiled in 2019. Reserved for the Chinese market and revealed a little later in the year, this large SUV did not, however, wait to show itself, while images have leaked on the net. The opportunity to learn more about the style of this newcomer in the catalog, which broadly incorporates the stylistic identity of the other models in the ID range. The light signature therefore remains close to that inaugurated on the Volkswagen ID.3 , nevertheless evolving very slightly and gaining in aggressiveness. At the rear, the whole is much more loaded than our European models, which play the card of a very refined style. Overall, the SUV does not skimp on tricks to impose as much as possible, whether with its wide grille and plastic side guards. Using the MEB platform of ID.3 and ID.4, this ID.6should display generous dimensions, with a length of 4.8 meters by 1.8 meters wide. Beautiful measurements which suggest a large space on board, while seven people should be able to take place. The interior has not yet been shown, but the presentation should remain in the same vein as that of the other models in the ID range, ie relatively simple with a touch screen placed on the dashboard. No surprises under the hood Logically, this new Volkswagen should take over the engines of its two electric sisters, as well as the Skoda Enyaq . If further details should be revealed a bit later, the top-of-the-range version should undoubtedly be equipped with an 82 kWh battery then offering a maximum range of 500 kilometers. Other variants could also emerge, as on its Czech cousin, with batteries of 55 and 66 kWh, while the powers will then oscillate between 150 and 300 horses approximately. The large SUV should then be compatible with a recharge of up to 125 kW, then allowing the battery to go from 10 to 80% in just about thirty minutes. Anyway, it will take a little more patience before discovering this Volkswagen ID.6, which should first be sold in China before eventually arriving here. It should then compete head-on with the Tesla Model Y .
  6. Spanish researchers study the effects of the Mediterranean lifestyle on childhood obesity It is the primary public health problem among children in the country Yesterday, the official website of the Government of Aragon informed that a multi-partner project, in which the local Health Research Institute (IIS Aragon) plays a central role, has won a NAOS Strategy Award from the national Ministry of Consumption as a recognition for its groundbreaking objectives. The project, called Meli-POP (Mediterranean Lifestyle in Pediatric Obesity Prevention), is the first randomized, multicenter and controlled clinical research trial to be carried out with the aim of addressing the growing problem of childhood obesity in Spain, and more specifically its causes and how it can be prevented. Apart from the Aragonese capital Zaragoza, the other two centres where the study is taking place are Córdoba and Santiago de Compostela. 22% of Spanish children between 6 and 10 are overweight, 12% are obese Spain is renowned for its Mediterranean cuisine abroad yet at home it seems changing trends and standards in consumption and physical activity are contributing to children being overweight at a much earlier age. That can potentially lead to serious health problems later in their lives, which can also arise at an earlier age. That is why the current research programme will have a follow-up component where the participants will be evaluated 10 years later in order to see the results of the applied measures of the NAOS Strategy. This government-sanctioned plan’s abbreviation stands for Nutrition, Physical Activity and Prevention in Spanish. In a sense, it is a return to the roots of how people used to live in the Iberian Peninsula during the times of less material wealth. Traditional Spanish diet has always included plenty of legumes, vegetables, citrus and seafood products. “In this context, and under the protection of CIBEROBN, the 'Meli-POP' study arises, which aims to show how a Mediterranean eating pattern and regular physical activity reduces, during an approximate follow-up period of 10 years, the probability of developing obesity and cardiometabolic alterations during childhood and adolescence,” said Dr Luis Alberto Moreno, a principal researcher from IIS Aragon. It is believed that the large-scale study will help develop clinical guidelines for the standardized prevention of childhood obesity in the future. Furthermore, biological samples, such as DNA will be collected from participants and stored in order to assess the cardiovascular risk factors that are linked to obesity.
  7. US media reported that Fox News Media has canceled one of its most famous programs, "Dobbs Tonight," which supports the presenter of former US President Donald Trump and his allegations of fraud in the presidential elections. "Dobbs", which airs twice every night at 5 and 7 pm, is scheduled to have its final show on Friday. Starting next week, the program will be titled "Fox Business Tonight" and will be presented by Jackie De Angelis and David Eastman, who have replaced Dobbs. The 75-year-old Dobbs will continue to work under contract with Fox News, but in all likelihood, he will not appear again on the air on the TV channel, the newspaper reported. The cancellation comes a day after voting software company Smartmatic filed a $ 2.7 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News and three of its hosts - Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro. The company alleges that the hosts have perpetuated lies and misinformation about the role of "Smartmatic" in rigging the elections, which has damaged its business and reputation. But people familiar with the discussions say the decision to end the "Dobbs" program was under consideration before legal issues with Smartmatic arose. "As we said in October, Fox News Media is regularly looking at program changes, and plans have been made to launch new formats as appropriate after the election, including on Fox Business," the representative said of the channel in a statement.

  11. monitoring DNS threat Home » Security Boulevard (Original) » Employee Monitoring Software Secures Remote Teams Employee Monitoring Software Secures Remote Teams by Isaac Kohen on February 5, 2021 Many organizations only embrace cybersecurity as a bottom-line business priority after years of unprecedented, expensive and significant data breaches and cybersecurity incidents. More than 80% of small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) view IT security as a top business concern, and 75% of corporate executives rank cybersecurity enhancements as a pressing issue in the year ahead. For many, this means adapting to a long-term remote workforce by empowering employees to be productive and secure from any location. In response to last year’s pandemic, 85% of CISOs reported sacrificing cybersecurity to enable remote work. Now, it’s time to revive those capabilities. Specifically, while external bad actors represent a meaningful threat to data security, accidental and malicious insiders pose a more profound and avoidable risk in a remote environment. That’s why sales of employee monitoring software are surging as CISOs strive to keep data secure, regardless of employee location. This practice has received its fair share of criticism, but monitoring software isn’t without merit. For CISOs looking to empower employees to work securely from anywhere, here are four best practices for securing a hybrid workforce with employee monitoring software. 1. Be Transparent While it may be tempting to pursue a clandestine monitoring initiative, these efforts are more likely to be successful when implemented transparently. Many employees support cybersecurity initiatives, but they are wary of compromising their privacy for unwarranted oversight. Secretive or opaque monitoring protocols not only undermine company culture, as employees feel spied on and untrusted, but these efforts also obfuscate the critical role employees play in the company’s defensive posture. Therefore, be transparent at every point in the process, routinely communicating: the purpose of monitoring the scope of monitoring the protocols for managing collected data the implications of collected information. Consider embracing open forums where employees can ask questions, provide feedback, and actively participate in the process. When it comes to securing a remote workforce with employee monitoring software, clear communication and consistent transparency can go a long way toward making these efforts successful. 2. Be Precise Today’s employee monitoring software is incredibly capable. In addition to logging rudimentary tasks like internet use, downloads, file transfers and email, some software can activate cameras, microphones, and more. However, just because you can collect certain information segments, doesn’t mean that you should. To prioritize privacy while maximizing effectiveness, identify the specific purpose of monitoring efforts, and restrict oversight to achieve that outcome. For example, data consistently shows that remote workers are more active than their in-office counterparts, logging more hours and engaging in more communication. They are also more prone to using personal devices for work-related tasks. Therefore, CISOs could use employee monitoring software to track device usage and ensure that work-issued technology is being used to handle company data. Whatever the purpose, collecting less data often produces better results. 3. Be Automated Even before a global pandemic reoriented everything about the way we work, cybersecurity professionals were overrun, exhausted and burned out. A 2020 survey by the Ponemon Institute found that 65% of cybersecurity professionals are considering quitting their jobs, and 91% say they suffer from moderate or high stress. Managing a remote workforce only amplifies their concerns, adding additional vulnerabilities in an uncontrolled environment. When not implemented correctly, employee monitoring software can exacerbate stress. For instance, one report found that cybersecurity professionals receive more than 10,000 alerts each day, and monitoring initiatives can add to that total, creating an outpouring of false positives that exhaust cybersecurity professionals and decrease their effectiveness. The answer, in part, is automation. Automated risk detection prevents unwanted employee behavior, restricting alerts to the most critical cases. What’s more, when this software is highly configurable, it empowers CISOs and their teams to manage monitoring efforts, letting them serve as a useful tool, not an additional responsibility. 4. Be Adaptable Last year brought about radical change on many levels. A once-in-a-lifetime pandemic shifted our work environments, enabled new threats and created new possibilities. While it’s unlikely that we will experience a similarly disruptive event in 2021, today’s threat landscape is always evolving. Cybersecurity failure is expensive, costing nearly $4 million to recover and ushering in cascading consequences that can be devastating in an already challenging environment. Therefore, cybersecurity leaders should routinely evaluate their employee monitoring practices, ensuring that they are updated to meet the moment. Cybersecurity is a significant challenge for every company, and securing on-site IT is no longer a sufficient defensive posture. Instead, thriving companies will invest in their remote teams, empowering them to be productive and secure from anywhere. Employee monitoring software can play a pivotal role in these efforts, but only if it’s implemented correctly. In other words, employee monitoring software can be a powerful tool or another distraction that fails to deliver on its promise and potential.

  13. According to a study by Continental, German and French motorists are not really interested in electric cars, unlike the Chinese. It has been a few years now that the car has taken an increasingly important place in the automotive market. A trend which has only accelerated recently, while manufacturers must imperatively green their range, in order to limit the damage concerning the fines provided by the European Union this year. Not to mention the ecological penalty on thermal models, always more severe, even for vehicles considered to be low polluting until now, as well as EPZs , which are increasing in large French cities. In short, the zero-emission car now seems to be the only salvation for the automotive industry, even more weakened since the start of the economic crisis linked to the Coronavirus epidemic. However, if theElectric models are more and more numerous, and while registrations continue to increase, it would seem that not all countries are really enthusiastic about this new type of engine, as confirmed by a study conducted by the Continental equipment manufacturer . If some countries, including China are particularly fond of electric cars , this is not really the case for the French and the Germans, since they are respectively 57 and 59% not to consider the purchase of such a vehicle in the future. The Americans come just behind, since half of those polled refuse to adopt this engine for their personal use. What is a little more surprising, however, is the position of Japan, since 46% of respondents residing in the land of the rising sun do not intend to go electric either. A rather surprising result in a country that is nevertheless very much geared towards new technologies. However, as Continental points out, the proportion of motorists intending to go zero-emissionhas been on the rise since 2013, for example gaining 28 points in the United States, but only 3 points in France. Clearly, overall we are not yet ready to abandon our thermal engines, while the offer of more virtuous vehicles continues to develop. Many arguments To justify their distrust of electricity, respondents have many arguments, which nevertheless differ somewhat between countries. Indeed, in a large part of the world, it is the brand of charging stations that is the main problem, except in France. With us, it is above all the high price of the zero-emission models which constitutes the biggest obstacle to the purchase, and this in spite of the various aids and the ecological bonus , fixed at 6,000 € since the beginning of the year. . One of the arguments against this type of engine, which also comes up quite often, is of course the lack of autonomy., still considered too insufficient to consider daily use. Motorists are also reluctant to have to plan for generally fairly long breaks on their long journeys. Nevertheless, according to Helmut Matschi, one of the executive directors of Continental, “ intelligent connectivity considerably improves the value of the electric car […] When it comes to range, connectivity is one of the pillars to guarantee a better acceptance by drivers ”.
  14. According to the World Health Organization, the number of people diagnosed with cancer increased by almost 10 million in the past two decades. Of the newly diagnosed cancers, breast cancer is the most common (12%), followed by lung cancer (11%), colorectal cancer (10%) and prostate cancer (7%). By 2040, it has been predicted that the number of newly diagnosed cases of cancer will be nearly 50% higher than in 2020, reports WHO. Several cancers can be cured if they are diagnosed on time and treated properly. Vaccination can help preventing certain cancers like cervical cancer (HPV vaccine) and liver cancer (hepatitis B). Ways to lower your risk of cancer Believe it or not, several kinds of cancers can be prevented and well-managed by following a healthy lifestyle. WHO shared some of these lifestyle measures on Instagram recently. Here are they: 1. Do not use tobacco Tobacco use is considered to be a leading cause of cancer and death from cancer, according to National Cancer Institute. Regular use of tobacco or being exposed to secondhand smoke can increase risk of cancer. Cancers of Lung, larynx, mouth, throat, oesophagus, kidney, liver, stomach, colon, pancreas, rectum and cervix can be caused by use of tobacco. Quit smoking and tobacco use in all forms in order to reduce the risk of cancer. Also read: What Happens When You Quit Smoking? Tips To Deal With Withdrawal Symptoms 2. Exercise regularly The American Cancer Society says that being regular at exercise can reduce the risk of 13 kinds of cancer including that of oesophagus, liver, stomach, kidneys, myeloid leukemia, multiple myeloma, head and neck, rectum, bladder and lungs. Make sure that you do 150 minutes of moderate intensity exercise or 90 minutes of high intensity exercise every week. Apart from exercising regularly, it is also important to stay physically active throughout the day and prevent long hours of sitting. Drink less alcohol The less alcohol you drink, the lower is your risk of cancer. Excessive intake of alcohol on a regular basis can increase the risk of cancer of the mouth and throat, oesophagus, colon and rectum, liver and breast (in women), according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention. All kinds of alcoholic drinks, including cocktails, red wine and white wine, are linked to cancer. The more you drink, the higher is your risk of cancer. Also read: Increased Stress, Disturbed Sleep And Other Risks Associated With Drinking Too Much Alcohol 4. Avoid direct sunlight for long periods of time Exposure to the ultraviolet radiation of the sun can result in early ageing of the skin and can also increase the risk of skin cancer. The National Cancer Institute instructs that sun's rays are strongest between 10 am to 4 pm. They can go through light clothing, windshields, windows and clouds. They can be reflected by sand, water, snow, ice and pavement. Avoid spending too much time in the sun and do not forget to apply sunscreen. 5. Eat a healthy diet A healthy a nourishing diet can take you a long way in terms of building immunity and being cancer and disease-free. Avoid processed and packaged foods and stick to naturally grown, organic and homemade foods most of the times. Your diet should include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lentils, legumes, nuts and seeds.
  15. After the Chinese Xpeng, it is the turn of the Vietnamese Vinfast to make its arrival on the European market with no less than three models. If you do not know Vinfast yet , a word of advice, remember this name. Because we may hear a lot about the Vietnamese manufacturer in the years to come, when he plans to set up in Europe soon. A not-so-secret ambition, since already in 2018, the firm took advantage to the general surprise of the Paris Motor Show to lift the veil on two concepts, namely a sedan and an SUV. The choice of the French show to present these cars was not then the result of chance, thus undoubtedly making it possible to take the temperature as to a possible arrival with us. And it seems that this has been conclusive, while the Asian firm is now ready to tumble into Europe, with again three models, which should nevertheless not arrive in the dealerships before next year. A deadline that remains relatively close, however, knowing that we had never heard of this brand, belonging to a solid Vietnamese conglomerate barely three years ago. This time, no sedan on the program but many SUVs, a decidedly trendy silhouette, and even more among Asian manufacturers, who are trying to find a place in the European market. The first model to land here will be the VF31 , then measuring 4.3 meters long and offered in two versions, developing 114 and 204 horsepower, while the battery capacity is displayed at 42 kWh. The second, larger model is logically called VF32 , this time displaying a generous length of 4.76 meters, enough to comfortably install a whole family. There again, two versions will be marketed, one of 204 horsepower and a second developing 408 equines, all with a 90 kWh battery. Finally, a third model, the FV33 will also be integrated into the range, but its giant dimensions (5.12 meters long) could compromise its arrival in Europe, although nothing has yet been confirmed. Size rivals Integrating themselves into an already full market, these SUVs will each have different competitors to fight to find a place. If the smallest model, the VF31 will be placed directly in front of the Peugeot e-2008 , it should nevertheless display much more aggressive prices, making it possible to grab a few customers from the Sochaux SUV. For its part, the VF32 will have a lot to do too, since it will then enter directly into competition with the Tesla Model Y, the Mercedes EQC or the new BMW iX3. Suffice to say that the road will be long for this model with strong ambitions whose autonomy has not yet been revealed, which will also have to cut prices to have all its chances. Anyway, and if we will have to wait a little longer before knowing everything, VinFast informs us that these three new models will be equipped with many on-board technologies, including semi-autonomous driving that can go up to level 4. We only ask to see, because for the moment, no European manufacturer is able to offer such advanced assistance. We will have to wait a little longer before seeing these three models on our roads, since orders will not open before November, for deliveries scheduled for 2022. The prices have not been revealed, but they should without doubtless be very interesting, in line with what MG offers , among others.
  16. Back pain has an amazing ability to stop you in your tracks. And most of us know the feeling. Studies show that around 80% of people get hit with low back pain at least once in their lives. The good news? Most episodes of back pain will improve within days or weeks and not turn into a chronic problem. But you don’t have to take back pain lying down. (In fact, you shouldn’t.) Pain management expert Robert Bolash, MD, discusses things you can try to address this common problem. Back pain relief at home Most of the time, you can care for lower back pain at home. Try these things to help your back — no medication or procedures required. Get exercise Don’t assume that you should stay in bed until your back feels better. “Avoiding exercise can make back pain worse,” Dr. Bolash says. “Patients who rest often fare worse. Try to keep moving and walking around as usual. Movement relieves pain and strengthens your muscles, helping you prevent a future episode of pain.” But don’t resume the activity that initially caused the injury until your pain is gone. Once your back feels better, you can ease back into lifting or strenuous exercise, but do it gradually. If you do too much too quickly, you could end up sidelined with back pain all over again. Use heat or ice for back pain relief If your pain has just started, consider applying cold packs. The cooling can help decrease swelling and inflammation, Dr. Bolash says. Cold packs can also provide relief by numbing some of the painful nerves. If swelling or inflammation is subsiding but you’re still in pain, consider that some people find a heating pad or a hot bath to be the best thing for back pain, and there’s some evidence that it works. Moist heat, like you would get in a hot shower, bath or with a moist heat pack, may work better than dry heat. “While heating up an area can help get your back more limber, use heating pads carefully, as they can get too hot and burn the skin,” Dr. Bolash advises. “Don’t use them on children, older adults or while sleeping.” Do some yoga You don’t have to be a yoga expert or even attend class regularly to reap some serious benefits from yoga. This ancient practice can loosen your back, bringing you some quick relief. You can do most yoga poses without any special equipment. A yoga mat is helpful but not necessary. You can also just spread some towels on the floor for cushioning. For starters, try child’s pose:
  17. It was not part of a plan. When I came to IBS, I had two things in terms of how I sort of sum up the prior two decades. One is technology, specifically software, and in that journey I had seen a big industry-wide disruption, which was the cloud impacting the world of legacy software. Companies like Microsoft, where I was in 2009, 2010. I was part of a small group of people that are scattered around the company but were collectively tasked with building and launching this new set of businesses, which today we know as Azure and Office 365. That was fractional revenue back then. Today it's a 50-odd-billion-dollar business for Microsoft and is generally seen as a reason why they sort of came through disruption on the right side. [Along with technology], being in horizontal software, I had seen from the customer's side, many different verticals. I saw the transformation of media as traditional media companies went to first getting their heads around the idea that content consumption was going to go to devices - multi-device, digital and screen - and then come to grips with the fact that they have to get on that wagon and then scramble to do that transformation. Amidst all that was Netflix, which was a customer of mine for three years. They went from DVD rentals to $25 billion in revenues powered by streaming. I saw retail go through a similar transformation. When you put all of that together, I felt like I had sort of seen disruption, and there's a pattern - you see the same thing over and over. When IBS first called me, in the context of that conversation, I started digging into travel. I had a sense this is a pattern I have seen, that the travel sector felt like it was waiting for the inflection point, but the trends were very clear. It was just a question of when. IBS had positioned themselves to be part of the answer to that. So for customers that were looking to come out of that disruption as winners, this was going to be a solution set that could help them get there. That was what took that initial phone call into something longer and ultimately resulted in me joining IBS.
  18. Young Kwak photo Miller's Hardware co-owner Stace Heston says there's one thing every homeowner should be doing in the winter: insulating windows. If you have the right tools, there are plenty of relatively quick and easy ways to improve your home. And one of those tools, perhaps one of the most useful, is the internet. Still, it can be an unwieldy one. How-to videos for home improvement are all over the place online, with plenty of good advice and, unfortunately, plenty of bad advice. In the wrong hands, it can easily ruin a project, and sometimes cause you to inflict damage on your plumbing or electrical system. Raena Strohmaier, co-owner of Strohmaier Construction in Spokane, says they see that a lot. "A lot of times when homeowners get into a project and it's too much for them, they call us and realize it's over their head," she says. Generally, she says, new homeowners should try to avoid messing with plumbing or electrical systems if they can. Instead, she recommends they stick to aesthetics — flooring, tiling, painting. But times are tough. If you want to do some remodeling and save some money, these are three do-it-yourself projects you can get working on, as recommended from the folks at the local hardware store. KEEP OUT THE COLD Stace Heston, the owner of Miller's Hardware and the Ace Hardware on Ninth and Monroe on the South Hill, says there's one thing every homeowner should be doing in the winter: insulating windows.
  19. Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include over 40 DLC from across the series, but that's still not all of the original DLC packs. Since Mass Effect 3's remaster is skipping the multiplayer mode, DLC related to that is being left out. And so is Pinnacle Station, an add-on for the first Mass Effect. Pinnacle Station was originally developed by a third-party studio called Demiurge. It added a training facility full of holographic combat scenarios, and was generally considered pretty skippable. It was left out of the PS3 version of Mass Effect because the source code was lost, but when remaking the game for the Legendary Edition, BioWare apparently reached out to everyone they could to track it down. "It would basically take us another full six months just to do this with most of the team we've got," game director Mac Walters told Game Informer. "I wish we could do it. Honestly, just because this is meant to be everything that the team ever created, brought together again—all the singleplayer content. And so, leaving it all on the cutting-room floor, it was heartbreaking." It's a shame, but Pinnacle Station was extremely forgettable. At least Mass Effect 3's fan-favorite Citadel expansion will definitely be part of the Legendary Edition. This sort of thing is more common than you'd think. One of the most notable near-losses is Diablo 2, as Max Schaefer revealed at ExileCon 2019. "Not just our code, but all of our assets. Irrevocably, fatally corrupted," he said. Though they were able to reconstruct a lot of it, the assets that remain missing would make the rumored Diablo 2 remake harder to pull off.
  20. After leaving us guessing for a couple of years, Sega and Creative Assembly have finally spilled the beans on Total War: Warhammer 3, and it's going to be a big 'un. To finish up the trilogy, Creative Assembly's put together an appropriately huge war, which it boasts will have an "unprecedented scale". Set in the Realm of Chaos and the Lands of the East, a quartet of daemonic factions will be vying for dominance, accompanied by a pair of new human factions: Kislev and Cathay. That's two more factions than Warhammer 2 launched with, and they're going to be fighting over a gargantuan map. "In campaign map terms, it's big… roughly twice the size of Warhammer 2's Eye of the Vortex map," says game director Ian Roxburgh. "And it needs to be, as this is the part of the Warhammer world that gives way to the Realms of Chaos, which take up a significant area in their own right. But I suppose more than anything, you can apply the term 'unprecedented scale' to our ambition for the game. We're aiming to conclude the trilogy in a big way—from the narrative, to the playable races, to the wealth of new features, which we'll come to in good time." Followers of Chaos have been present in both previous Warhammers, but this is the first time we'll be able to lead daemonic factions. The armies of Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh and Tzeentch are all distinct, and you can expect them to field lots of big, monstrous creatures. The introduction of these factions also creates new wrinkles, because it's not like a bunch of Chaos-loving daemons are going to be into stuff like diplomacy, which has become an increasingly significant part of Total War.
  21. Services like video streaming, gaming, media-intensive advertising and marketing technology are putting more strain on bandwidth and backend latency than ever before due to the surge of online traffic in the last year. But for most organizations in today’s usage-based cloud world, that can represent a huge cost in compute power — or a major investment in a company’s own latency technology — to try to address that. This has created an opportunity for startups building optimization tools. Today, one called Granulate — which has built software for organizations to handle those loads more intelligently and cost-effectively — is announcing a round of funding after seeing a huge boost in business in the last 10 months, with customer growth up 360% and revenues growing 570%. The Tel Aviv startup has picked up $30 million, a Series B, led by Red Dot Capital Partners, with previous backers Insight Partners, TLV Partners, and Hetz Ventures, and new backer Dawn Capital also participating. The timing of this Series B speaks to the demand in the market right now: it comes on the back of Granulate closing a $12 million Series A only in April last year. Investors say that its business growth is what prompted them to re-up so soon. “Granulate’s unique technology and impressive growth since their last funding round reflects a rising market demand for their game-changing optimization solution,” said Yaniv Stern, Managing Partner at Red Dot Capital Partners, in a statement. “For companies facing rising infrastructure costs or focusing on operating cost reduction, Granulate offers a solution that can drive additional improvement regardless of any other solutions already deployed by their clients.” Granulate is not disclosing its valuation with this latest round, which brings the total raised by the startup to $45 million. The opportunity in the market that Granulate is targeting is the fact that media-heavy content, and services like e-commerce that rely on efficient responsiveness on sites and apps to keep people from abandoning their shopping carts, are all on the rise. But as companies look to keep customers happy with better quality services, they are also trying to keep an eye on margins and therefore want to keep infrastructure and computing costs low. Granulate’s solution is software that sits at the server layer — either in the cloud or on-premises, as a customer prefers — that uses AI to detect workloads that a customer tags as important and prioritize them so that they work more efficiently. Granulate said that its software can improve response times by up to 40%, and throughput up to five times, while reducing costs by up to 60%. The company today has partnerships with AWS and Microsoft’s Azure and is in the “early stages” of talks with Google Cloud Platform. Bigger tech companies like Netflix, Google and Amazon typically invest huge sums to build their own optimization technology, but it’s an area that smaller organizations (and you can still be huge while still being smaller than companies like Google) will not have the bandwith — pun intended — to address in the same way. “We are aware of similar things going on inside of Netflix as what we have built,” Asaf Ezra, co-founder and CEO of Granulate, said in an interview. “But to us, it’s a testament of how large you need to be to address this issue and the talent you need to hire to address the lowest level issues.” The company’s customers include at least one major retailer (which it can’t name), AppsFlyer, Period and PicsArt. What will be interesting to watch is how the growth of 5G will affect the bigger problem: as Ezra notes, it will undoubtedly improve front-end latency. “5g will not cannibalize Granulate,” he said. “In fact, when it becomes standard, the round trip time will be reduced for data, but the front end will be less of the ratio of the time, while the back-end latency will become more of the problem. 5g would solve only the access to your server, but not latency at the server itself.” Longer term, it’s likely that Granulate will add more optimization and management solutions around those it already offers for latency, Ezra said, while also looking for ways to stand out apart from others in the same space. Competitors are in the process of some consolidation — witness Spot acquired by NetApp last June — so features based around a wider platform will likely be a key way to keep customers interested.
  22. External hardware components External hardware components are called peripherals. Peripherals include input devices, such as a mouse or keyboard; output devices, such as a monitor or printer; and external storage devices, such as a hard drive or USB card. Other common external hardware components include microphones, monitors, speakers, headphones, digital cameras, touchpads, stylus pens, joysticks, scanners and memory cards. All these hardware devices are designed to either provide instructions to the software or render the results from its execution. Hardware virtualization Hardware virtualization is the abstraction of physical computing resources from the software that uses the resources. This is made possible by a virtual machine (VM) manager called a hypervisor. Essentially, the hypervisor creates virtual versions of internal hardware so that resources can be shared and used more efficiently. In cloud computing, hardware virtualization is often associated with infrastructure as a service (IaaS). IaaS is a delivery model for providing hardware resources over high-speed internet. In the IaaS model, a cloud provider hosts hardware components that are traditionally present in an on-premises data center, including servers, storage and networking hardware, but unlike a hardware as a service (HaaS) provider, an IaaS provider will also host the software that makes virtualization possible. Typically, an IaaS provider also supplies a range of services to accompany infrastructure components. These can include detailed billing, monitoring, log access, security, load balancing and clustering, as well as storage resiliency, such as backup, replication and recovery. Hardware as a service While it's common for individuals or businesses to purchase computer hardware and then periodically replace or upgrade it, there's also the possibility to lease physical and virtual hardware from a service provider. The provider then becomes responsible for keeping hardware up to date, both in terms of its various components and the software running on it. In the HaaS model, physical components that belongs to a managed service provider (MSP) is installed at a customer's site and a service-level agreement (SLA) defines the responsibilities of both parties. Sometimes, the client pays a monthly fee for using the hardware; sometimes, its use is incorporated into the MSP's fee structure for installing, monitoring and maintaining the hardware. Either way, if the hardware breaks down or becomes outdated, the MSP is responsible for decommissioning it and replacing it. Depending upon the terms of the SLA, decommissioning may include wiping proprietary data, physically destroying hard drives and certifying that old equipment has been recycled legally.
  23. Amy Morin is a psychotherapist, licensed clinical social worker, mental strength coach, and international bestselling author. She says taking advantage of remote work can be as simple as staying with friends or as complex as buying a houseboat. Short-term relocations can offer a refreshing change of scenery and take some of the risk out of a complete lifestyle overhaul. Visit Insider's homepage for more stories. Working from home during the pandemic has caused more people to dream about becoming a "digital nomad" — or at least it's helped them see that remote work can open the door to living differently. When you're working from home, you don't have to stare at the same four walls all day. Instead, you have the opportunity to get out and explore the world, when it's safe to do so. If you aren't ready to ditch your residence on a permanent basis, that's OK. You might try a temporary shift in your lifestyle (or plan for a three month trip every year from now going forward). There are so many different options when you aren't tied to a location. Here are five creative lifestyles that might help you take full advantage of remote work:
  24. The British drug company GlaxoSmithKline and the German company, [CENSORED]c, said that they plan to cooperate in making a new generation of vaccines that target the mutated strain of Covid-19. The announcement comes as public health experts around the world are raising concerns about mutations in the virus that may make existing vaccines less effective. The two companies said in a statement Wednesday that "the increase in emerging variables with the ability to reduce the effectiveness of the first generation of Covid-19 vaccines requires accelerating efforts to develop vaccines against the new variants to maintain one step before the epidemic." Next-generation Covid-19 vaccines can be used either to protect people who have not been vaccinated before, or to act as boosters if the COVID-19 immunity acquired from the initial vaccination decreases over time. GlaxoSmithKline says it will also help [CENSORED]c to manufacture up to 100 million doses of the current candidate vaccine this year
  25. As COVID-19 continues to complicate travel and event planning, Overwatch League's 2021 season will divide its teams into two regions, West and East. The teams in the West group will play in North America and Europe, while teams in the East group will spend the season in China and Korea. The Los Angeles Valiant is one of the teams headed to China with the East group—except the team is being left behind in the move. "We want to thank all the players and staff moving on today from the LA Valiant due to COVID-related visa issues, as we prepare to compete in China this season," wrote the team on Twitter. "We've worked to facilitate the best available next steps for our players and staff and wish them all the best moving forward." 2021 Roster Update: pic.twitter.com/wLegf51MAIJanuary 29, 2021 The Los Angeles Valiant is owned by Immortals Gaming Club, which recently denied a rumor that the team had been purchased by a Chinese organization. "IGC will continue to own the LA Valiant, and we are excited about the opportunity to grow the brand's global reach this year," said the team on January 14. The team is still owned by IGC.
