  3. NBA 2K20 is fast approaching as sports game season gets into full swing. EA Sports started us off with Madden 20 and they are ramping up the hype for FIFA 20. They have some competition though. Japanese rivals Konami are creating the biggest Pro Evolution Soccer release in years with PES 2020 by locking up exclusive rights to Juventus. And now 2K are coming down the track. They gave us a first hint at WWE 2K20 earlier this week, but the real hype is with the next installment in their excellent NBA franchise. NBA 2K19 was praised as a high point of the series but still had some nagging issues. So what will NBA 2K20 bring to hoops fans everywhere? NBA 2K20 Release Date This years game will be released on 6 September on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It has also been confirmed for google’s new gaming platform Google Stadia which should drop in November. NBA 2K20 Cover Athlete Cover athlete Anthony Davis, who recently made a blockbuster move to join LeBron James at the LA Lakers, will front this years game. Or at least part of it. He will be on the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions, but someone else will be on the Legends Edition. Miami Heat icon Dwyane Wade, who retired at the end of the 2018-19 season, will grace the front of 7the Legends Edition this year. NBA 2K20 Pre-Order You can pre-order NBA 2K20 on their official website and most traditional game retailers. Pre-order the NBA 2K20 Standard Edition for $59.99/£49.99 to receive the following digital items: 5,000 Virtual Currency 5,000 MyTEAM Points 5 MyCAREER Skill Boosts MyPLAYER Clothing Capsule 10 MyTEAM League packs (delivered one a week) 5 Heat Check packs (delivered one a week beginning at the start of the NBA season) The NBA 2K20 Digital Deluxe Edition ($84.99/£74.99) includes the following digital items: 35,000 Virtual Currency 10,000 MyTEAM Points 10 MyCAREER Skill Boosts MyPLAYER Clothing Capsule 10 MyTEAM League packs (delivered one a week) 5 Heat Check packs (delivered one a week beginning at the start of the NBA season) 1 Sapphire MyTEAM Cover Athlete Card The NBA 2K20 Legend Edition ($99.99/£89.99) includes the following digital items: 100,000 Virtual Currency 50,000 MyTEAM Points 20 MyCAREER Skill Boosts MyPLAYER Clothing Capsule MyPLAYER Apparel Collection MyPLAYER Shoe Collection 20 MyTEAM League packs (delivered one a week) 20 Heat Check packs (delivered one a week beginning at the start of the NBA season) 5 MyTEAM Theme Packs (one per theme release across the first five releases) 2 Sapphire MyTEAM Cover Athlete Card. NBA 2K20 Next Is Now Trailer 2K often play their cards very close to their chest, and we had only seen a brief teaser of the game until this Next Is Now trailer dropped. There is a lot of emphasis on new faces and the recent flurry of players moving around the NBA. Unsurprisingly, cover star Anthony Davis and new Lakers’ teammate LeBron James are the first to be seen, with the Clippers All-Star pairing of Paul George & Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, Nets Kyrie Irving & Kevin Durant, Golden State’s ‘Splash Brothers’ Steph Curry & Klay Thompson and Rockets point machine James Harden & Russell Westbrook all featuring heavily. NBA 2K20 Gameplay You do get a little taste of gameplay from the “Next Is Now” trailer, including new animations of players like Jimmy Butler, Kyrie Irving, and Buddy Hield. 2K have touched up their player motion engine and improved player footwork by adding smarter foot-planting allowing for more explosive movement from a stationary position. The devs explain “you’ll quickly feel the difference between a lumbering big vs. a quick, explosive guard.” They have analyzed real life motion patterns and emulated them into NBA 2K20: “We wanted sprinting to be a valuable resource and not something that everybody automatically does everywhere they go. This year, you’ll notice a flashing yellow effect around the Stamina bar when your energy level drops below a certain threshold. “Once hit, you’ll quickly ramp down to a run speed and get tired much faster. So it’s important this year to pick and choose when you want to explode with your first step and not abuse the Sprint trigger all game long.” NBA 2K20 New Features 2K’s tight-lipped strategy over this year’s release means we don’t know a whole lot about it just yet. We know that Ronnie 2K will be making an appearance in cut scenes in MyCareer while some improvements to the off-ball system are coming. There will be the usual step up in graphics too but we expect tweaks to the AI behavior to come this year too. One new feature we do know about is the WNBA… NBA 2K20 WNBA The WNBA made their virtual debut on EA’s NBA Live 18, and with FIFA continuing to push the Women’s game on their platform it is about time 2K caught up and included the WNBA. This year the will. How 2K integrate the WNBA into this year’s title is unknown. It is unlikely to be as fully as FIFA are, where their new Volta mode allows men & women to compete on-pitch together. I suspect that we will see some MyCareer interaction with the WNBA stars as well as at the very least a playable exhibition mode. A complete MyGM version of the WNBA would be unlikely this year MyGM 2.0 Speaking of MyGM, in a recent blog post 2K lifted the curtain on the renovations the game mode will see in 2K20. Accessibility is high on the agenda this year for 2K, as well as a focus on the player making meaningful choices. With that in mind the introduction of Action Points is set to limit how much you can get done in one day as a general manager and force you into tough decisions that will have a noticeable impact. You can’t explore trade options, talk to players, and scheme with staff all at once. Different difficulty settings will choke off your AP supply, making life even trickier for you. Why should you up the difficulty? Well, a new scoring system and leaderboard adds to the competitiveness of MyGM, allowing you to see how your performance compares to friends. There’s a brand new skill tree that will shape your style and open up abilities as you grow in your role. Your five starting options are Leadership (L), Diplomacy (D), Insight (I), Finance (F), and Facilities (FC) and these branches should provide a lot of playability as you try and find multiple ways to forge your dynasty. Leveling has seen a revamp, so are relationships, as well as goals & tasks. The core menus and user interactions are the same, making it easy for players to find what they need. MyGM 2.0 sounds like it will bring a new challenge to experienced players and provide them with a reason to keep coming back. NBA 2K20 Soundtrack The soundtrack of a sports game is crucial as it sets the tone and tempo for players in the menus. 2K games often have a diverse and superb soundtrack and NBA 2K20 is no different. You can listen to the whole playlist on Spotify already and 2K will be adding tracks over the year from both mainstream and underground artists, as well as offering unsigned artists a chance to get on the game from August 1. This years soundtrack already includes: Sandra’s Rose – Drake Wow (Remix) – Post Malone Uptown Vibes (Feat. Fabolous & Anuel AA) – Meek Mill Live Wire – Motley Crue Legacy (Feat. Travis Scott & 21 Savage) – Offset Whoa (Mind in awe) – XXXTENTACION Play Wit Ya – Dreezy. NBA 2K20 Player Ratings 2K have released some player ratings already. The top stars are in Los Angeles, where LeBron James of the Lakers and 2019 Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard of the Clippers both get a 97 OVR. Hot on their heels are Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Giannis Antetokounmpo have a 96 OVR while Steph Curry is a 95 OVR. NBA 2K20 The Prelude The Prelude is NBA 2K’s name for their demo. This will drop on 21 August this year and will allow you to get an early start on your MyCareer while testing out the new MyPlayer builder and hitting the court two weeks ahead of the game’s launch.

  4. With dragons circling the sky and hordes of undead running amok through their homeland, things aren’t looking great for the Khajiit. Throw in a usurper queen, a civil war, and the soulless husk of a powerful and callous warrior, and while your feline friends might not be having the best time, The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr makes an immediate statement. That’s just as well, as it is partly intended to entice new players to Bethesa’s MMO. While the past five years of The Elder Scrolls Online has given us a sprawling ‘Greatest Hits of Tamriel’ to play through, Elsweyr offers the opportunity to start over, with a brief tutorial getting new players up to speed with combat. But despite an intention to draw new players in with this expansion, areas such as lockpicking and spellcasting have been passed over. There’s far more to ESO than just swordplay, and I didn’t feel as though I was fully-equipped for a world as sprawling as Tamriel. Much like in Skyrim, it doesn’t take long before dragons descend from the sky, and you’re thrown headlong into a three-way conflict to determine the fate of the Khajiit. The Elder Scrolls V put you in control of the legendary Dragonborn, but in The Elder Scrolls Online you’re far less well-equipped to fight the oversized lizards. For me, that meant it was time to get to grips with my otherworldly abilities as Elsweyr’s new Necromancer class. Running into combat with an explosive skeleton by my side and an ethereal scythe in my hands made for some of Elsweyr’s most visually arresting and tactically engaging moments. Even at low levels, I had plenty of meaningful decisions to make with the new class: do I lob flaming skulls at enemies from afar, or wade into close-quarters, relying on the healing from my Death Scythe and Render Flesh abilities to keep me in the fight? Even as my skills progressed, however, it was difficult to get more than one or two allies to rise from their graves at the same time. I would have liked to feel more like I was in charge of a real undead army. And while abilities could be effectively woven together, I found some a little underwhelming. My ultimate, for example, brings forth a hulking colossus to fight by my side, but what seemed like it should have been a fight-winning moment was more often just a means to gain the upper hand at the beginning of a battle. Sadly, the Necromancer felt least effective when the time actually came to fight a dragon. Out in the world, these are imposing beasts, and I really felt vulnerable compared to my prior life as the godlike Dragonborn. However, that meant that such battles – in which both me and my scaly foe were limited to small arenas – were more a test of my resilience than my mastery of the undead. Most of my fights involved clumsily circling the beast in an attempt to avoid its most dangerous body parts while hacking at the more vulnerable ones – a frustrating call-back to some of Skyrim’s more irritating battles. For the most part, however, dragons take a backseat in Elsweyr’s main narrative, preferring to operate from the shadows rather than confront you directly. Instead, you’re faced with an intriguingly twisty tale, lent a surprising intimacy by its focus on its characters. I don’t think I met a single Khajiit whose company I didn’t enjoy, and the return of Sir Cadwell sees John Cleese at his whimsical best. Even Abnur Tharn, who initially struck me as little more than a bureaucrat whose interest in me depended on my usefulness to him, revealed a surprising humanity in the end as he came to terms with his waning power. The real winner, however, is Kamira, whose arc is masterfully woven alongside your own, her mystical highs offset by heart-wrenching lows. Elsweyr also offers the series’s greatest realisation of the Khajiit to date. The race has often lived on the fringes of Tamriel society, but ESO’s new expansion puts them centre-stage, exploring everything from religious shrines hidden deep in the jungle to the grandiose architecture that dominates the bustling towns of Rimmen and Riverhold. While a little barren in places, the transition from colourful steppes in the north to lush rainforest of the south means the Khajiit’s homeland is a pleasure to explore. Gameplay : The Elder Scrolls Online’s latest expansion is a decent jumping-off point for new and returning players, with a vibrant world and a narrative that’ll guide you through your early hours with the game, but there’s plenty for veterans too. Characters not seen for years make welcome returns, and the continuous threat of the dragons makes for a world in which even high level players will be constantly uncovering new challenges. Most impressive, however, is the expansion’s ability to bring to life a part of its world not seen for two decades with an attention to detail that makes it seem as though the Khajiit have always been central to the story of Tamriel. 7. Upcoming tactical co-op PvE shooter Rainbow Six Quarantine is sure to bring some exciting new things to the series. Unveiled at Ubisoft’s E3 showcase, the game is being developed by a whole new team at Ubisoft Montreal, who will deliver on an equally new vision – “a deep, radically re-designed” game experience, according to the studio store site. Newest of all – the game sounds like it could be a little roguelike. The game’s summary on the store page contains a few phrases that could hint at some roguelike qualities – most notably permadeath, a mechanic closely tied to the genre. The summary reads “you and your squad risk everything, every time you step into Quarantine”, referencing the plot that sees you and your three-player team step into Rainbow Six Quarantine’s “unknown and devastating parasite”-struck world. “Everything” is pretty suggestive – it seems like your operators’ lives, and potentially any progress you’ve been working towards, could be included on the list of things at risk “every time” you tackle the Quarantine. If so, this would indeed be a pretty radical re-design for the series – permadeath sort of featured in the Ghost Recon Wildlands crossover Operation 2, which included a high-stakes permadeath option, but it isn’t a regular Rainbow Six mechanic. Next up is the summary’s mention of “tense, chaotic and totally unpredictable missions” which it says you’ll be launched into. This could hint at two key roguelike mechanics – randomised environment generation and possibly also resource management, if the missions really are chaotic and unpredictable. Presumably you’ll need to prepare by holding back your best people, ammo, and tactics for your next blast through the Quarantine – anything could happen. The write-up also hints at “a totally new breed of mutated alien parasite” which is “more lethal and challenging than ever before”. It sounds like we won’t be facing any of the same enemies that appeared in Rainbow Six Siege’s Outbreak game mode, which will hopefully result in a new level of complexity in terms of combat and tactics. Though it’s not much to go on, and as we haven’t seen any real gameplay of Rainbow Six Quarantine just yet, it’s far from confirmed whether the title will verge on the roguelike. Considering how little information was provided upon the game’s announcement, these details from the store are the closest we’ve come to gameplay details so far. With E3 now over, hopefully we’ll get to find out for ourselves soon.
  8. Do you remember that bit in Call of Duty? You know the one I mean. You were a guy—a war guy—and you ran around a corner to find another war guy running in the opposite direction. Yes! This was your moment. Your raised your RDS and sprayed hot 5.56mm NATO into his exposed back, earning you a hundred points, a kill, and a little shot of dopamine. Then, disaster! Another war guy ran around the corner behind you; the screen turned red; you died. Do you remember that bit? You must do, because it happened to everybody, everywhere, every day for the last seven years. Warface is Crytek's free-to-play stab at Call of Duty's deathmatch formula, which it spreads across multiple modes, bundles with a thin handful of new ideas, and shackles to an ever-present storefront. Warface is the game you play if you fancy running in a circle shooting people in the back but don't want to pay full price for the privilege—which is a reasonable notion—and also the game that you play if you are ten years old and your parents won't buy you something better. I know that because the voices I've heard in-game have, universally, been children; on one occasion I was lucky enough to listen to someone get told off for not doing their homework. That brief moment of kitchen sink drama was the most fun I've had with Warface, a game that is otherwise as oppressively alright-I-suppose as you'd expect from the lovechild of two business models. Warface has the quality of something that you played once in a sticky-floored arcade during a half-remembered summer holiday. It should smell of cigarettes and old carpet. It's low-rent in the way that lightgun shooters traditionally were, and it's this, rather than the Call of Duty-shaped hole it aspires to fill, that gives it a personality. It's not a substantial thing—it never reaches House of the Dead or Area 51's shit-but-kitsch territory—but it's something, and when Warface's angry red LED damage indicators are bursting from the body of a stricken foe there's a little of Time Crisis to the experience. You could scratch this same itch in innumerable other games, but Warface scratches it nonetheless. You can press a button to slide along the ground on your butt and earn bonus points for killing someone while doing so. One of the better modes is a bit like Counter-Strike but with rubbish maps. There's a capable co-op mode where you fight your way through a series of warzone-themed alleyways blasting pigeon-brained AI and sometimes tangling with helicopters or mechs or tanks, an experience that scales up through a series of difficulty levels and that, in its final stages, requires some actual coordination. It's very repetitive, but it looks okay and it's free. Then, Warface asks you to pay for something. Respawn tokens for co-op, seven-day gun rentals, skins, boosters: you are never free of ways to spend, and while there's no stopping you grinding away there's no 'purchase everything and leave me alone' button either. This is the type of free to play system designed to drain you slowly, and even if you can resist the call of booster packs and treat the game as a disposable distraction—which is what you should do—the storefront doggedly pursues your attention in a way that grates. CryEngine means that this is one of the more technically impressive free-to-play games you'll encounter, but I wouldn't call it pretty, not exactly. It comes close to the bar set by the big-budget shooters it's aping, but suffers for environments and character designs that never reach beyond the deeply familiar. On the plus side, it scales well on different systems—essential for a game like this to find the audience it needs—and it's been built using a versatile toolset that, on paper, should allow Crytek to keep it updated with maps and modes. On the down side, powerful tools haven't resulted in particularly good maps. They're boxes to kill each other in, and in twelve hours of play I quickly became tired of running circuits around container yards. Warface isn't terrible. I found myself easily sinking hours into it, despite having already pumped a surprising amount of time into the console version. But its successes are entirely those of other, better games. If this kind of modern military shooter is what you're looking for, you should be playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Or Titanfall. Or one of the earlier, better Battlefields. Or, indeed, Call of Duty. If a free competitive game on PC is what you're looking for, look further; we've got lots of them. This is a game with tame ambitions that manages to achieve a few of them. There's merit there, I suppose, but not enough to warrant a recommendation.

  9. This is what you need to know about the NHL 20 release date, new NHL 20 features, and the special editions that you can choose from. We know almost everything about the new NHL game and we have a look at NHL 20 gameplay. If you’re itching to play and you didn’t buy NHL 19, you can play it free right now on Xbox One or PS4 EA Access. The NHL 20 Deluxe and Ultimate Editions include three days of early access, so you can play on September 10th. That’s not all. If you subscribe to EA Access, you can play five days earlier than that, starting on September 5th. EA Access is $5.99 a month or $30 a year and includes a 10% discount on NHL 20. NHL 20 Prices The NHL 20 price starts at $59.99, but you can pay as much as $99.99 for the most expensive option. EA offers three NHL 20 editions with the following options; NHL 20 base edition- $59.99 NHL 20 Special Edition – $79.99 NHL 20 Ultimate Edition – $99.99 The most expensive edition may only be available on digital. This is the new normal for EA sports games, and it comes down to how many Hockey Ultimate Team features you want to pay for upfront. The bonus items include; NHL 20 Editions Standard Edition Deluxe Edition Superstar Edition Price $59.99 $79.99 $99.99 Digital or Physical Both Digital Only Digital Only 3 Days Early Access to Full Game No Yes Yes 2 HUT Diamond Choice Packs Yes No No 5 HUT Diamond Choice Packs No Yes No 10 HUT Diamond Choice Packs No No Yes World of CHEL Hockey Bags 1 2 5 Hometown Choice Pack Yes Yes Yes Access to exclusive HUT Competitive Season No No Yes To get some of the NHL 20 pre-order bonus items, you need to pre-order and in some cases, you need to pre-order very early. NHL 20 Features EA shares a collection of new NHL 20 features that players were able to test out in the Open Beta, and that you can expect to see in the game this fall. Here’s a look at the new NHL 20 features. Speed and Shooting Upgrades with RPM – The new RPM-Tech delivers a new look to players and animations. This is most evident when you look at Superstar players with distinct swing styles. This also allows you to keep the skating pace while picking up the puck, taking shots and passing. New Goaltender AI – Smart goaltenders will do a better job evaluating the threats and positioning to better defend the goal. Upgraded Broadcasting – You’ll get new play by play and new color commentary as well as upgraded scoreboards, overlays and motion graphics to bring you deeper into the game. Hockey Ultimate Team Squad Battles – You can now play Squad Battles, a favorite mode from FIFA, that will let you compete in offline battles for big rewards. You will see squads created by NHL players, musicians, hockey influencers and superstar athletes from other sports. Hockey Ultimate Team Icons – There are new playable hockey icons that you can collect, bringing the roster up to over 400 players. Eliminator Mode – A new way to play NHL ONES or NHL THREES. You can play with up to 81 players in an elimination tournament to earn bragging rights. NHL ONES Upgrades – You can now play ONES in local multiplayer. CHEL Challenges – New weekly in-game events that you can play for rewards, character CP and other rewards. NHL 20 Cover The NHL 20 cover athlete is Auston Matthews of the Toronto Mapleleafs. While FIFA opts for a range of cover athletes, there is only one for NHL 20. Matthews is a Center from San Ramon, CA and he was the 1st overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. NHL 20 Demo or Beta The NHL 20 beta wrapped up after a short period in late July. If you didn’t get a chance to try it out, you may get lucky with a NHL 20 demo later this year, but it’s not clear if that will happen. If there is an update we will let you know when you can play and what it includes. NHL 20 Consoles You can play NHL 20 on the Xbox One and PS4. Last year we only saw the NHL 19 release on these two consoles and the tradition continues. When asked about NHL 19 coming to the PC William Ho, the Creative Director of NHL 19 told Shacknews, “We’ll see.”, but ultimately nothing ever came of that. Ho also told the publication that they are fans of the Switch, but didn’t commit. With FIFA and Madden on PC, we’re hoping to see some movement on this front, but it looks like you may need to wait for NHL 21. Play NHL 20 early You can count on playing NHL 20 early on the Xbox One with EA Access. The paid EA Access membership includes up to a 10 hour trial of new EA games. These trials typically start five days before the first release date. That means you could be able to play NHL 20 as early as September 5th. EA Access is $5.99 a month, or you can get a year for $29.99 on Amazon or on your Xbox or PS4.. When you buy any NHL 20 edition, you get HUT bonuses. Unlike with Madden 20, EA specifically calls attention to the fact that these are pre-order bonuses. This is specifically for the NHL 20 Deluxe and NHL 20 Superstar editions, but it could also be a part of the base edition as well. EA offers up a massive listing of warnings about these bonuses. If you want the SuperStar and Deluxe editions and you want the full value of your bonus items, you should pre-order NHL 20 to make sure you get it all. There are time frames where you must open the packs in order to redeem them. You don't get these all at once, and if you miss a date you lose out. .

  10. When is the GTA 6 release date? It’s hard to say, as Rockstar usually releases a new entry intro the franchise every four to five years, which means we should have had one last year. As you know, however, we got Red Dead Redemption, instead. Hardly a rough trade off, sure, but we don’t have a Red Dead Redemption PC release date, either. What a bother. The previous Grand Theft Auto game was almost inconceivably massive and entertaining. No wonder we’re so desperate for a GTA 6 release date, then. The game’s sales numbers are off the charts, too, and player numbers remain impressive years on from release. This is largely thanks to Rockstar’s excellent and consistent updates to GTA Online. So, naturally, we’re thinking hard about what’s coming next: GTA 6. While Grand Theft Auto 6 hasn’t been announced yet we’re very much hoping for some GTA 6 news soon. Our insatiable appetite for biting satire and a good carjacking knows no bounds. We’ve rounded up all the latest GTA 6 rumours in one place with our suggestions for what we’d like to see, no matter what form the new Grand Theft Auto ends up taking. Below you’ll find everything we know about GTA 6: GTA 6 RELEASE DATE When is GTA 6 coming out? If the series’s typical development timeline of about four to five years between entries is anything to go by, we should have got GTA 6 in 2018. But, with Rockstar solely focused on Red Dead Redemption 2 and its own online variant, it’s up in the air when we can expect it. We do know that when stunt actor Tim Neff’s CV surfaced claiming he had credits on Grand Theft Auto 6 and Red Dead Redemption 2, it proved to be a fake. It should have been obvious, really: the CV didn’t match Neff’s IMDB page, it had spelling errors, and it wasn’t taken down immediately by Rockstar once the story was widely known. When we asked Neff for details he said: “That isn’t my page, account or résumé. I don’t even know that website. I worked on GTA 5 a long time ago and haven’t done anything since. Sorry for the confusion. It seems I’m being trolled online really badly.” It’s not the first time GTA 6 has appeared on someone’s CV, either. A 3D artist who briefly worked for Rockstar’s India branch included a GTA 6 mention on his resume before it was removed. According to Bibin Michael, he worked on creating concept vehicles matching the real world for GTA 5 and GTA 6. GTA Forums member ApolloThunder also noted Michael is credited in the thank you page for Red Dead Redemption 2, which backs up the claim he has worked with Rockstar in the past, at least. GTA 6 NEWS Nowadays we tend to wait the best part of a decade between new games like GTA and Borderlands, but that might not necessarily be the case going forward. In an interview with gamesindustry.biz, Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick, suggested that better development tools and bigger teams could shorten these gaps. It could also mean that such “games may be a bit shorter” while still being robustly supported post-launch. This may mean that you’ll see a new GTA and its associated Grand Theft Auto 6 DLC sooner rather than later. We might as well all go home now, actually: Grand Theft Auto 6 is already out on, er, PlayStation 2? Last year we noticed the iffy-looking GTA 6 box art above in a photo posted to Reddit from a bootleg stand in Brazil. Using our well-practised reporting nous, we detected that the box art might not quite be legit. Either that, or Rockstar is showing consoles from two generations back some unlikely love, and Summer Glau has made her live-action videogame debut. Speaking of hoax GTA 6 announcements, another one cropped up in July 2018, courtesy of GTA Online. If you logged on to Rockstar’s enduringly successful multiplayer mode around that time you may have seen a message that read “GTA VI Coming 2019.” This message only appears on the GTA Online platforms that are most prone to hackers, so perhaps a particularly mischievous sort has worked out how to post on Rockstar’s announcement system. Besides this, there’s very little GTA 6 news around. GTA 6 STORY A GTA 6 story could take any shape. Across the Grand Theft Auto series, narratives have covered a broad spectrum of ideas and tones – from the cynical critique of capitalism portrayed in GTA 4, to the relatively light and humorous GTA 5. We’re not aware of any specific GTA 6 story beats as yet. It remains to be seen if there will be multiple protagonists once again, but we would love to see GTA 6 herald the inclusion of the first female GTA protagonist. In a 2013 interview with The Guardian, Dan Houser explained why a woman wasn’t playable in GTA V, and how the team could make it happen in the future. GTA 6 MAP The rumour mill has been churning with talk of a London GTA 6 setting. But, while England’s big smoke is said to be the only non-US setting Rockstar would consider, Houser appeared to debunk this rumour in The Guardian’s interview wit him. He said: “I think for us, my gut feeling is, GTA London was cool for the time, but games were more limited then. These days I think we would love to set a game in the UK, set in London, whatever, but I don’t know if it would be a GTA game. GTA 6 GAMEPLAY If the rumour that a new game in the series could recreate the entirety of the US holds true, there will be a huge number of activities to choose from. But the surface area of a location is one thing, whether the GTA 6 gameplay is fun, is another. Thankfully, then, Rockstar has a solid track record with delivering gameplay that keeps us coming back for more. If the side missions kept us from the main story after many hours into GTA 6’s predecessors, a gargantuan, full-sized US could keep us going forever. What innovations could GTA 6 gameplay provide? Maybe we’ll see our new protagonist planning assassinations like we did heists in GTA V? Something like Rocksteady pioneered with Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009, in which we channel our sleuthing abilities to catch our foes, ending with a classic Grand Theft Auto car chase? In GTA V, the side activities ranged from daring bank jobs to wholesome rounds of golf and hunting down celebrities as paparazzi. The sheer po[CENSORED]rity of meticulously planned co-op heists from GTA V surely means they’ll return to GTA 6 in some form, and we can’t wait to see what Rockstar conjures up. .

  17. Fortnite Season 10 (Season X, if you like) is here, signaling that time is a merciless, unfeeling entity bound on returning us to the dirt. Literally, this time! The weird time ball at the center of the map has place Fortnite's island in flux, bringing back old POIs and remixing old skin archetypes with promises for more interesting changes along the way. And with a new season come new cosmetics, map changes, skins, challenges, and more, all wrapped up in a fancy new battle pass. Here's everything we know about Fortnite Season 10. What's new in Fortnite Season 10? A lot! Here's the big stuff. The B.R.U.T.E. two-person mech vehicle: one player controls movement, including a huge jump that needs power up, a dash move, and a stomp. The other player controls the fire power, including a rocket barrage, an automatic shotgun, and a self-destruct. After outcry from players and streamers, Epic recently nerfed the mech to make it less deadly and mobile. Rift Zones: Old map locations have reappeared, most notable Dusty Depot, but they each entail 'gameplay changes' which we've yet to see for ourselves. So far we know there are low-gravity areas and no-build zones, but we still have to explore the whole map. Epic has also implied that more zones with change as the season progresses. Vaults: The baller, quad crasher, flint knock pistol, shadow bomb, semi-auto sniper, tactical asssault rifle, mounted turrent, air strike, and glider redeploy (noooo!) are all gone, but not forgotten. Who knows what new items we'll see in Season 10? More mobility, I hope. Missions: RIP Fortbytes and the usual array of weekly challenges. Missions repackage the usual battle pass challenges into themed bundles that reward battle pass points, cosmetics, and XP. There are also prestige missions to unlock once you've finished up certain bundles, which I assume are more challenging. For all the other Season 10 details, check out the patch notes on our Fortnite update page. What's in the Fortnite Season 10 Battle Pass? A lot of new stuff. It's a bit more difficult to parse with the new mission structure, but we're getting a lot of remixed skins. The hell does that mean? Take Season 2's Dark Voyager, for instance. They're back, but as the Eternal Voyager, who has an unlockable plasma skull head reminiscent of Ghost Rider. There's a Dark Drift, a new llama DJ, and so on. It's not my favorite bundle of skins, but for folks that stuck with Fortnite through all 10 seasons, it's some fun nostalgia. Two-year-old nostalgia. Whoof. Time. Take a look at everything in the Season 10 battle pass below. https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/fr/battle-pass/season-x How much does the Fortnite Season 10 battle pass cost? The usual 950 V-Bucks (~$10) for the battle pass or 2800 V-Bucks (~$30) for the battle bundle, which instantly unlocks the first 25 levels of the battle pass. Players can also purchase individual tiers for 150 V-Bucks each. How did we get here? The Monster and Mech finally clashed. After weeks of slowly thawing out a monster beneath Polar Peaks, and the gradual construction of a giant teddy bear mech in the guts of Fortnite's volcano, Fortnite fans finally got to see the epic battle play out. Here's the whole event as we saw it go down. The fight itself might qualify as the most involved, elaborate event ever held in Fortnite. Rather than just a rocket racing around or players flying into the air over a portal, the kaiju and mech stomp around the upper portion of the map and do some serious damage. The event started out with the monster emerging from the north shore (Polar Peaks still attached to its scaly back) and proceeding inland, until the mech emerged from the volcano and quickly shot off a few volleys of rockets at it. The monster retaliated by spewing its own laser beam at the mech, and the mech retaliated to that by charging at full speed and launching the two of them into the ocean to the west. Honestly, I thought that was going to be it, but I was dead wrong. The mech emerged from the water, triumphant and all that, only for the monster to pounce out of the ocean and begin savaging the mech, ripping its arm off. The mech managed to break free, retreating to the pressure plant. There, it yanked some of that lovely portal energy out and proceeded to wallop the monster with an energy-infused punch. The final leg of the fight was revealed when the mech walked over to Neo-Tilted, grabbed the giant statue of the Synergy skin in the center of town, and proceeded to pull up a giant energy sword. In a final charge, the mech managed to stab the monster through the skull with the sword, ending the fight. As a final farewell, the mech did a one-armed floss dance and flew away into the sky. Brilliant. Love it. . Regards

  23. Now Gamescom is over and new floods of FIFA 20 gameplay has come out, here is absolutely everything we know so far about the upcoming EA title FIFA 20: FIFA 20 is edging closer to release, and it’s about this time we can expect EA Sports to push out as many announcements to keep the momentum and the hype going. Over the past couple of weeks, news has finally dropped regarding the biggest changes we have seen in FIFA Career Mode in over a decade, the Cover Stars have been revealed, Volta News and fresh updates to Ultimate Team. In addition to all of this, the FIFA 20 Beta has dropped. The beta has been made available to selected FIFA players in the UK and the US. For those who opted in to receive emails from EA, they will get a code sent to the email address linked to their EA account and will jump in and play until August 21st, 2019 (not long left to go!) once the code is redeemed. Redeem your PlayStation 4 code. Redeem your Xbox One code. EA has also announced the release of the FUT Web App on September 18th, 2019. The web app is used to buy and sell players on the transfer market, open FUT packs and build your squads. With Gamescom, Europe’s largest gaming festival, on the horizon, we’re excited to hear what else is in store for us. Release Date: EA Sports are very consistent with their release dates, and once again the final Friday in September will mark the full release of FIFA 20. This year, that will be Friday, 27 September 2019, but we can expect types of early access too. The Standard Edition – fronted by Eden Hazard – costs £54.99 on PC and £59.99 on PS4 and Xbox One. By pre-ordering you will receive up to three FIFA 20 Ultimate Team rare gold packs (one per week for three weeks), choose one of five mid-version ICON items for five FUT matches and special Edition FUT Kits. Early Access: That release date only applies to the Standard Edition, however. Both the Champions & Ultimate Editions of the game are available three days earlier on September 24. The Champions Edition, with Champions League winner Virgil van Dijk on the cover, is priced at £69.99 on PC and £79.99 on PS4 and Xbox One, and it will get you up to 12 FIFA 20 Ultimate Team rare gold packs (one per week for 12 weeks) as well as the three days early access. Lastly, the Ultimate Edition, complete with cover star Zinedine Zidane, will set you back £79.99 on PC and £89.99 on PS4 and Xbox One. It comes with an untradeable FUT 20 Ones To Watch player item and up to 24 FIFA 20 Ultimate Team rare gold packs (two per week for 12 weeks). Those who sign up to EA Access get eight hours of gameplay around one week before the game comes out, and this year that will be eight days early from September 19. The demo for the game only tends to come out two weeks before the game’s full release, so this should be on September 12, 2019. Expect similar teams to last year where we had Manchester City, Tottenham, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Roma, Borussia Dortmund and PSG to choose from. Bayern Munich, Juventus and Manchester United have all signed deals with rivals PES 2020 so they will not return on the demo, but Liverpool have done the opposite, so expect the Reds to be on there. First FIFA 20 Trailer: The first trailer for FIFA 20 dropped during EA Play at E3, and it revealed the huge new feature Volta Football. A few other aspects that were announced during the EA Play Stream included enhanced dribbling, improved 1v1s and overhauled free kicks and penalties. Volta Football: EA Sports recently released a trailer showcasing over 17 locations around the world including Tokyo, Amsterdam, Barcelona and London. The Tokyo Rooftop, though, is our pick of the bunch – with floodlights beaming through the neon-filled skyline. It’ll be the arena we will use most for sure. The community have been calling for a street mode on FIFA or a return to FIFA Street for some time, with the Journey teasing street-esque football in recent years. Well, the prayers have been answered with Volta Football arriving for FIFA 20. Volta, meaning 'tempo' in Italian, takes FIFA back to the streets, with the mode enabling games to play 3v3, 4v4 and 5v5 matches, with or without goalkeepers. Expect all the skill, close control and use of the walls of the cage, with even a futsal arena a venue option. The new strafe dribbling mechanic is a key feature for both Volta and out on the grass pitch, so you will have plenty of fun skinning defenders. You can create your own male or female character, play online and there is a new Volta Story which replaces The Journey. New controls, cameras and outfits are just the tip if the iceberg, and it is the one huge spelling point FIFA has above rival PES 2020 this year. Volta Football is a great addition, although it will not feature on Nintendo Switch. After FUT Division Rivals didn't feature on Switch last year, EA need be careful not to upset a passionate community. Let's hope that changes for FIFA 21. Simplified Rules In Volta Football there are no substitutions, offsides, injuries, yellow or red cards, or even fatigue/stamina. Match Types The various match types offers a different element and creates a variety of situations different to the 11-a-side game. The match type breakdowns are: Rush Keepers: played in 3v3 and 4v4, Rush is the street mode without Goalkeepers and with small goals, where each player is expected to contribute to all aspects of the game, be it scoring or blocking a shot. Street with Keepers: played in 4v4 and 5v5, is the street mode with Goalkeepers and Futsal-sized goals, which combines the safety of a goalkeeper with the bespoke rules and personality of the street. Futsal is a 5-a-side experience with more authentic rules, referees, and a more structured type of play. The formations available are the same as 5v5 street with keepers. Environments Besides match types, each environment can be customised and provides interesting variations to fixtures. Players can play matches with Walls or No Walls, and pick between various pitch sizes. Specific Rules Volta Football gameplay has unique rules depending on the circumstances of the match. You can combine the rules below, creating very interesting match types. Small-sided matches are quick and fun, with each half being only 3 minutes of real-time playing. The timer only goes down when the ball is in play and each extra-time half is 1 minute of real-time play. Movement and Dynamics Various formations and mentalities affect how your players move and behave inside the pitch. Movement is free-flowing, with players being expected to contribute to most areas of play, be it defensive or offensive. This is especially true in Rush matches, where everyone is expected to be able to score as well as block shots on goal. Custom Ball Physics A new ball has been created for Volta with a different size and weight than the regular game. This small-sided ball rolls more and bounces much less than a full-sized ball. Build Your Player From height and facial features to tattoos and hairstyles create your male or female player with ease and take them across various modes in FIFA 20 using the new Avatar system. Get the traditional athletic look, deck yourself out with the latest streetwear, or break boundaries as you find yours and your squad’s perfect style. Switch it up with limited-time item drops to create unique outfits using the Volta Shop. Take your Avatar onto the street and express your style to the world throughout Volta Football's range of modes. Complete matches to increase your player’s rating and earn skill points. Max out various traits to earn titles that show off your gameplay personality to the world. Play it Your Way Lead you squad in the Volta Tour, guide your avatar through Volta Story Mode, play with your squad in the online VOLTA League, or take your favourite professional teams to the streets in Volta Kick-off. Take your Avatar across the world and face off against various real-world legends of street football. Build your squad and recruit players as you aim to win the ultimate prize: The Volta Football World Championship in Buenos Aires. Online Volta Play your way through promotion and relegation against other players with the online VOLTA League, where wins lead to promotion into a higher division. Gameplay The introduction of Volta Football means there will be an emphasis on close control, and this has been added in the form of the strafe dribbling mechanic. This enables the attacker to move with more agility than ever to lure your opponent in before beating them with speed or skill. Strafe dribbling is just one component of what EA have labelled as Decisive Moments. With these new attacking skills, controlled tackling will bolster the defence, providing more intelligent tackling which increases the chance of winning the ball back. For instance, the defender directing the tackle towards a teammate to ensure they regain the ball. L1/LB for Strafe Dribble L1+R1/LB+RB for Strafe Dribble (lock face angle). Timed finishing is as brilliant as it is frustrating. We all love to see a ball fly into the top corner from 25 yards, but when it happens again and again, the magic is lost. It has now been adjusted, with Composed finishing ensuring one-on-ones are easier, and volleyed efforts are more difficult. New shot trajectories will see shots dip, fade and swerve to add even more realism, as part of the new ball physics for FIFA 20. Football Informed Motion introduces more authentic ball spins and bounces, which will also play in a big role in all the different venues available in Volta as well. The Journey Following on from The Journey, it's time for your avatar became the protagonist. This time however, it is part of the new mode Volta Story. The story will take you through the Volta World, playing matches against various opponents from street football legends, to the diverse and unique players based on community generated Avatars and squads, to professional footballers. You’ll build your squad in the hopes of being invited to the Volta World Championships in Buenos Aires for a chance to win the ultimate small-sided prize. You can create create your avatar, recruit new players, build squads, travel to cool playable environments, face "legends of the street" and compete for special rewards in Volta Skillers - where FIFA's skill games come to Volta. Anything else? For FIFA 19, La Liga followed suit of the Premier League by 16 stadiums and over 200 player arriving on the game. Licenses for the Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1 are already obtained, but it’s time to add more depth and realism to the game. Those three leagues combined have just 11 stadiums between them, something that EA should look to improve.

  24. Watch Dogs Legion is officially the third open-world game in the anarchic, tech-savvy series. Some details leaked ahead of the biggest videogame show on Earth – as is customary for Ubisoft titles by this point – but we still got a chonky reveal at E3 that confirms the leaks and gives us new information on top of that. The first and obvious thing is that it’s not called Watch Dogs 3, as many of us had expected, it’s called Legion. Why Legion? One of the early gameplay features to be shown off gives us the ability to turn any citizen on the street into a playable character. So there’s a bit of an army of hackers vibe going on. The previous game is something of an overlooked gem this generation: Watch Dogs 2’s PC gameplay and tone rivalled even GTA 5 in its best moments, but was swallowed up by the myriad impressive sandbox games that also landed in that time, such as Horizon: Zero Dawn and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Either way, a few years on from the second game, we’re ready for another technologically-enhanced Ubisoft world – as the Watch Dogs Legion release date isn’t too far away, here’s everything we know about the upcoming PC game so far. WATCH DOGS LEGION RELEASE DATE: If you’re itching to get to hacking in London, you won’t have to wait too long. The Watch Dogs Legion release date is March 6, 2020. So, if you’re looking to dive in straight away, get those holiday requests in on the double. We had a slight inkling that we would be getting a new Watch Dogs game around then, a financial report in May 2019 reveals that three of the next Ubisoft games will release before April 2020. WATCH DOGS LEGION TRAILER: It wouldn’t be an E3 reveal without a trailer, of course, and you can catch a glimpse of Ubisoft’s post-Brexit London above. One of the main features to be shown off is the game’s central idea that everyone and anyone is recruitable. Just how true that is remains to be seen, but we’re happy to enjoy old lady Helen’s sleuthing around in the meantime. WATCH DOG LEGION NEWS One of the main tidbits of information to come out of E3 was that Watch Dogs Legion would be coming to Google’s new gaming platform, Google Stadia. Ubisoft’s hack ’em up will still be releasing there March 6, too, which is no different to the PC release date. If you’re into your collectable items, you can fetch yourself a replica skull mask with an LED crown with the Watch Dogs Legion collector’s edition. Do keep in mind, though, that it’ll set you back $189.99. Another way you can play Watch Dogs Legion is through Ubisoft’s upcoming subscription service Uplay Plus. You can expect it to launch in September, and it’ll cost $14.99 per month. There’s a bit of a wait between September 2019 and March 2020, but you can noodle around in Ubisoft’s back catalogue to pass the time, and play games like The Division 2 and Far Cry: New Dawn. We also know that a portion of the Watch Dogs Legion soundtrack is being made with help from actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s crowd-sourced production company hitRECord. Ubisoft put out the call to fans to help produce 10 songs for the soundtrack, with $2,000 USD (£1,590) being paid for each track, which will be split between everyone who contributes to the final version. WATCH DOG LEGION GAMEPLAY Making its return in Watch Dogs Legion is a selection of non-lethal and lethal weaponry. The game’s predecessor leaned a good bit into the former and saw protagonist Marcus knock people out with a stun gun and that yo-yo thing. That said, there was plenty of deadly and loud weapons on offer if that wasn’t your style, from assault rifles to pistols. So, you can expect plenty of variety from Watch Dogs Legion’s guns. Rumours were swirling around before the reveal that lethal guns wouldn’t be coming, but the gameplay trailer above says otherwise. With Watch Dogs Legion’s concept of building an army in mind, it makes sense that you can play Watch Dogs Legion co-op with up to four friends. Multiplayer enthusiasts can expect dedicated online content with missions and side activities, such as bareknuckle boxing, freestyle football, illegal couriering, and posting street art. According to the game’s website, there will also be “challenging endgame content”, alongside “free regular updates adding new online modes, rewards, and themed events”. There’s no word just yet on what that’ll all include, but to us it all sounds quite similar to GTA V Online’s suite of activities, which include multiplayer heists that act as endgame content. If you’d like to see some of this gameplay in action, check out the Watch Dogs Legion gameplay demo above. WATCH DOGS LEGION NPCS We had an idea that recruiting and playing as non-playable characters would be a feature thanks to a pre-E3 Watch Dogs Legion leak on Amazon. The game’s creative director, Clint Hocking, expanded on how the Watch Dogs Legion NPCs work during E3. Hocking explains that each NPC is a unique character that comes with their own backstory, relationships, stats, and abilities. There’s a reason for the attention to detail, though. Watch Dogs Legion has permadeath, so if you’re careless with the NPCs you acquire you’ll feel the sting of their loss as they won’t come back. That’s not all, though, there is also Watch Dogs Legion character schedules – that means that an NPC’s spouse or relative will mourn their loss, but will eventually move on. So, do take care of the poor NPCs you enlist into your war. Sadly, this attention to detail also means that Watch Dogs Legion has no dogs. A shame, as Watch Dogs 2 lets us dote on some wonderful puppers. We’re not the kind of website to let this kind of thing slide, though, so we asked Hocking about it. “When you see the bin man working,” he tells us, “and then you shoot the bin man, we make his sister not like you, and we make his brother not like you. When you see the woman walking her dog and you shoot the woman, we really had to ask ourselves ‘what do we do with the dog?’ “Does someone adopt the dog? Does the dog become a stray? Does it disappear out of the world? That doesn’t seem fair. Do we need to up-res the dog and make the dog a part of the simulation? We already bit off a lot, and we were like ‘I don’t know how we do that. I don’t know how we deal with this problem. And so yeah – no dogs.” WATCH DOGS LEGION SETTING A Watch Dogs 3 London setting has been touted for some time now since it was teased at the end of the previous game. But this isn’t your typical representation of England’s big smoke: Watch Dogs Legion’s setting is confirmed to be a post-Brexit, dystopian London. According to Hocking, however, Ubisoft decided on London as Watch Dogs Legion’s setting before the Brexit debate kicked off in earnest. That said, the studio has embraced what’s happened, and isn’t shying away from what is, admittedly, a tricky political climate. Speaking to PCGN, Hocking explains his stance regarding Watch Dogs Legion’s post Brexit London setting. “Ubisoft as a company has its position,” Hocking says. “But every project has its own operational reality and its own stuff and Ubisoft’s position has a guideline for all of us to follow and our game definitely has something to say and we’re happy to say it.” It’s not all Brexit, though, and Ubisoft has put a lot of thought into the game’s location design. So big is the Watch Dogs Legion map size, apparently, that it stretches from Camden to Brixton. If your feet feel weary at the thought of doing walking that, though, then you’ll be happy to know that there is Watch Dogs Legion fast travel. Of course, the fast travel in the game is represented by the Tube in the London Underground. It is London afterall. If you don’t fancy the tube, however, and want to experience London’s terrible traffic, you can hack and control the city’s infamous black cabs. And there you have it, that’s everything we could rustle up about Watch Dogs Legions. We’re DedSet (geddit?) against a move away from the hacktivist open-world formula we’ve come to love from the series, but we’re looking forward to this third game taking a turn for the edgy in the green and not-so-pleasant lands of post-apocalyptic Blighty.
