It only took malware peddlers a month to break Google’s new encryption algorithm. Despite enthusiast media sources celebrating Google’s attempts to route hacking groups in last month’s updates to the Chrome browser, new posts on infostealer forums seem to show that malware peddlers are now keeping up with the tech giant’s latest encryption updates with minimal issue. Early last month, Google released Chrome 80, which added the AES-256 encryption algorithm to the browser in an attempt to prevent hackers from stealing user credentials. Prior to this, the browser had simply used the data protection API built into Windows to protect sensitive user data. AES-256 was meant to combine that data protection API with the AES standard to make information more secure, but even with a minor hacker panic shortly after release, it seems that the added security isn't panning out quite as the tech giant had hoped . "With M80, we made changes that will allow us to isolate Chrome's network stack into its own robustly sandboxed process," Google explained to tech publication BleepingComputer when Chrome 80 launched. "As part of those changes, we changed the algorithm for encrypted passwords / cookies and changed the storage mechanisms, which also disrupted the tooling that data thieves currently rely on." This quickly lead to declarations that Google had "crippled” cybercrime hubs like the Genesis Store, a black market for stolen browser data that gathered “90% of all stolen credentials” through the Any.Run top ten threat AZORult malware, which had been abandoned by its original author in 2018 and wasn't supposed to work with Chrome 80. However, a month later, BleepingComputer is revealing in a recent exposé that not only are old infostealer standards like Raccoon and KPot infostealer now posting updates to make their tools compatible with Chrome 80, but the new encryption algorithm seems to have given new tools an opportunity to market themselves as “Chrome 80 compatible.” Four days after Chrome 80's rollout, for instance, KPot infostealer posted that they had "already figured out the algorithm," and in a subsequent post later that day, released an update to their malware to make it Chrome 80 compatible, with the only noticeable effect on hackers being a price increase to $ 90. Similarly, Raccoon pushed an update that added Chrome 80 support to all new builds. Meanwhile, cyber intelligence company KELA has recently uncovered a new tool, Redline, on Russian cybercrime forums. “It’s important to note that Redline is very new,” KELAproduct manager Raveed Laeb told BleepingComputer. "[It was] offered for sale only after the new Chrome update." However, despite not having much reputation, Redline promotes this as a positive on its forum post, citing its newcomer status as proof that it is up-to-date with “All browsers based on Chromium.” Even AZORult, despite being left for dead by its author, is now getting community updates to make it thieving ready, threatening to bring the hacking giant back into the spotlight. With update 3.3.1 being the final official update for the Malware, many considered it dead upon Chrome 80's rollout, but offshoot tools like AZORult ++, which first hit the scene in May of last year, are now releasing new updates that promise Chrome 80 compatibility . While the sources behind these tools remain unvetted and thus might keep hackers away for fear of being hacked themselves, they still have the potential to appear in smaller campaigns. All of which goes to show that despite promises from big developers, hackers will always find a way to pose a threat. Even with updates like Chrome 80, users are advised to maintain as diligent as ever in protecting their sensitive data.

AMD completely abandoned the idea of CrossFire support when it introduced its Navi lineup, but if you ever wondered how two Navi graphics cards would perform together, Uniko's Hardware has the answer for you. For the sake of science, the publication paired a Radeon RX 5600 XT together with the Radeon RX 5700. In the old days, it was pretty common to run a multi-GPU setup. On some occasions, a single graphics card was powerful enough to deliver an adequate gaming experience, and in other occasions, it was just more cost-effective to buy two cheaper graphics cards. Before AMD launched Navi last year, the chipmaker estimated that less than 1% of gamers still use a multi-GPU configuration. Therefore, the company decided to ax CrossFire support with Navi. If you look at it, it was a sound decision as it frees up resources for AMD to distribute elsewhere. You can't run two Navi graphics cards in a CrossFire configuration. However, you can still achieve a similar effect using the explicit multi-GPU (mGPU) functionality, which is present in the DirectX 12 and Vulkan APIs. It's a flexible technology as you can mix and match different graphics cards from both AMD and Nvidia to your heart's desire. There are a lot of modern games that leverage the DirectX 12 and Vulkan APIs. Nevertheless, it's up to the developer to decide whether it wants to support mGPU or not. Uniko's Hardware pointed out that Rise of the Tomb Raider and Strange Brigade accepted the mGPU setup without problems. However, Strange Brigade only works with DirectX 12 mode as the game would crash in Vulkan mode. Interestingly, Shadow of the Tomb Raider would crash instantly as soon as it opened. Triple-A titles, including Gears 5, Borderlands 3, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege and The Division 2 don't support mGPU. Radeon RX 5600 XT and Radeon RX 5700 mGPU Benchmarks The test platform was comprised of the latest Ryzen 7 3700X processor, ASRock X570 Taichi motherboard and a G.Skill Flare X DDR4-3200 16GB (2x8GB) memory kit overclocked to 3,600 MHz with a Cas Latency of 16. The graphics cards in question are the Asus Dual Radeon RX 5700 EVO OC Edition and Asus TUF Gaming X3 Radeon RX 5600 XT EVO. On the software side, Uniko's Hardware is using Windows 10 with the November 2019 update (version 1909) and Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.2.1. The publication performed the tests at the 1920 x 1080 resolution with Ultra settings in Strange Brigade and Very High settings in Rise of the Tomb Raider. Radeon RX 5700 Radeon RX 5700 + Radeon RX 5600 XT 3DMark Time Spy 8,508 points 13,342 points 3DMark Time Spy Graphics Score 8,271 points 14,156 points Strange Brigade Average 138.6 FPS 228.8 FPS Strange Brigade 1% Low 98 FPS 151.2 FPS Rise of the Tomb Raider Average 116.9 FPS 191.3 FPS Rise of the Tomb Raider 1% Low 87.4 FPS 111.5 FPS Power Consumption 259.6W 446.4W After enabling mGPU, the 3DMark Time Spy score jumped up by 56.8%. The real-world gaming results show performance improvements up to 65.1% and 63.6% in Strange Brigade and Rise of the Tomb Raider, respectively. When it comes to power consumption, the sole Radeon RX 5700 draws up to 259.6W while the mGPU configuration pulls around 446.4W. That's a very significant 72% increase in power draw. The performance uplift is there, but you won't be enjoying it as much since mGPU support is limited to a handful of games. And then there is also the money issue. The cheapest RX 5600 XT and RX 5700 sell for $ 275 and $ 295, respectively. In total, you're looking at a $ 570 investment. You can pick up a custom Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super for $ 500 and likely get the same amount of performance at around half the power consumption. Unless you've recently upgraded to a new graphics card and have an old one lying around, it's pointless to run a multi-GPU setup in this day and age. Even so, you'll still have to find a game that supports it, and that's not to mention having to put up with micro-stuttering.

Who are the clubs well placed to progress as crunch time arrives in the Champions League last 16? And who has it all to do? Three of England's four clubs head into the second leg with a deficit to turn around - with only Manchester City enjoying a lead. To assess the percentage chance of each side reaching the quarter-finals, sports data analysts Gracenote have used their Euro Club Index - feeding the results to us at BBC Sport. And BBC Radio 5 Live's European football experts discuss how they see each Premier League team's prospects. Who are favorites to win it? Last year Champions League winners Liverpool might be running away with the league, but their 1-0 loss at Atletico Madrid three weeks ago them leaves perilously close to going out. "As Liverpool have a tough task on their hands to reach this season's Champions League quarter-finals, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Barcelona are the three big favorites to reach the final," says Simon Gleave, head of sports analysis at Gracenote. "Should Liverpool knock out Atletico, the Reds will again be one of the big favors to reach the final and win the tournament as they are the Euro Club Index's number one ranked team." But if you think it looks tough for Liverpool, then spare a thought for Chelsea, whose 3-0 first-leg loss to Bayern Munich gives them a 0.3% chance of winning the competition. RB Leipzig v Tottenham (Tue, agg 1-0) How has this score played out previously? Teams winning 1-0 away in the first leg have gone on to progress 18 times and been eliminated three times. European football journalist Raphael Honigstein: "That [first] Spurs game was almost a watershed moment for Leipzig because people weren't sure if they could deal with the occasion. They had never been in the Champions League knockout stages before - [manager] Julian Nagelsmann had never been there. But they were so sure, they were balanced. Everything points towards Leipzig. " Former Tottenham and Sevilla striker Freddie Kanoute: "Jose Mourinho has been a top manager and his record speaks for itself but the past few games from Tottenham have lacked passion. You saw Tottenham lose to Norwich [in the FA Cup] and it was like they were waiting for something to happen. Most of the time it is too late. I am not a big fan of the way their game plan goes right now. " Any hope for Spurs? Lightning couldn't strike twice, could it? Tottenham lost 1-0 at home to Ajax in the first leg of last year semi-final and conceded another two goals in the first half of the second leg before launching one of the competition's great comebacks - winning 3-2 on the night and going through on the away goals rule. But the fact that the feat has only been managed two other times in 21 attempts suggests history is not on their side. Valencia v Atalanta (Tue, agg 1-4) How has this score played out previously? Teams winning 4-1 at home in the first leg have progressed three times and been eliminated twice. Any hope for Valencia? Remember Kostas Manolas? Barcelona still have nightmares about him. The Greek center-back, then with Roma, completed one of the remarkable Champions League comebacks with a decisive header as the Italians, 4-1 down from their quarter-final first leg, won 3-0 in Rome to go through on the away goals rule. That was the second time in Champions League history that a team had gone through after losing the first leg 4-1 - Deportivo La Coruna did it in a 2003-04 quarter-final against AC Milan, winning the second leg 4-0. Liverpool v Atletico Madrid (Wed, agg 0-1) How has this score played out previously? Teams winning 1-0 at home in the first leg have progressed 23 times and been eliminated 10 times. European football journalist Kristof Terreur: "Atletico had a strong game plan when they beat Liverpool but they haven't been that good. We saw the real Atletico against Liverpool - but don't underestimate Liverpool at home. Usually they can go the extra mile . " Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague: "Liverpool have struggled to break teams down. It needs to be a low-scoring game for Atletico to go through. Their hope again is to score early, but if it is about defending they are happy to do it , not scared at all. " Any hope for Liverpool? Liverpool don't need to look too far back for inspiration. The feat of overturning a 3-0 first-leg deficit against Barcelona in last season's semi-final will be fresh in their minds. Paris St-Germain v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 1-2) How has this score played out previously? Teams winning 2-1 at home in the first leg have progressed 11 times and been eliminated 14 times. Any hope for Paris St-Germain? PSG have suffered some particularly cruel blows at the last-16 stage. In 2017, they blew a 4-0 first-leg lead against Barcelona by losing 6-1 at the Nou Camp. Last season, having won 2-0 at Old Trafford, they conceded a late penalty to lose 3-1 at home to Manchester United and go out on away goals. Maybe having to come from behind, rather than hold on to an advantage, will suit them better? Porto were the last team to come back from a 2-1 away defeat in the first leg, winning 3-1 at home to Roma after extra time in last season's last 16. Juventus v Lyon (17 March, agg 0-1) How has this score played out previously? Teams winning 1-0 at home in the first leg have progressed 23 times and been eliminated 10 times. Any hope for Juventus? Lyon's last foray into the last 16 did not go well a year ago. They held Barcelona 0-0 at home in the first leg but then suffered a humbling 5-1 defeat at the Nou Camp. Manchester City v Real Madrid (17 March, agg 2-1) How has this score played out previously? Teams winning 2-1 away in the first leg have progressed eight times and been eliminated once. Any hope for Real Madrid? Zinedine Zidane's side will need to draw on their shock last-16 exit at Ajax's hands last season. Real won 2-1 in Amsterdam - then got thumped 4-1 at the Bernabeu. Barcelona v Napoli (18 March, agg 1-1) How has this score played out previously? Teams drawing 1-1 at home in the first leg - as Napoli did - have progressed 12 times and been eliminated 24 times. Who has the advantage? The fact that Napoli have gone out in both of their previous appearances at this stage does not bode well. Barcelona also drew their last-16 first leg last season - 0-0 with Lyon - before winning the return 5-1. Bayern Munich v Chelsea (18 March, agg 3-0) How has this score played out previously? Teams winning 3-0 away in the first leg have progressed five times and have never been eliminated. Any hope for Chelsea? If we go by history alone, no. No team has overturned a 3-0 deficit when traveling away for the second leg. Saying that, Tottenham were 3-0 down on aggregate with 35 minutes to play in Amsterdam last season, so miracles do happen.

Researchers have found that being overweight in middle age and later adulthood linked to a greater risk of advanced prostate cancer. Using data from 15 large studies combined together, the research team examined associations between body fat, height, and prostate cancer risk in 830,772 men, 51,734 of whom had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. "This study shows that adopting and maintaining a healthy weight in the middle to late adulthood can especially reduce the risk of advanced prostate cancer," said study lead author Jeanine Genkinger from Columbia University in the US. According to the researchers, prostate cancer is the second most common cause of cancer in men in the US. Fewer than one in three men with advanced prostate cancer live five years beyond diagnosis. Before this study, only a few studies examined contribution factors to advanced prostate cancer. There was an especially noticeable lack of research on the linkage between factors like weight in early adulthood, changes in weight during adulthood, and waist circumference, specifically with advanced prostate cancer risk, they said. The current research took a life-course-based approach, examining survey data collected across respondents' lifespans to determine whether and at what age during adulthood excess body fat increased risk for advanced prostate cancer. The researchers found that a body mass index (BMI) elevated above a healthy weight during the middle to late adulthood - median age range from 50 to 64 - was linked to the greatest risk for developing advanced prostate cancer. A "healthy" weight is defined as a BMI between 21 and 25 kg / m2, they said. The study found that greater waist circumference was linked with an increased risk of advanced prostate cancer and death. According to the researchers, although other studies have linked higher BMI with increased prostate cancer, this is the first study to find a positive association with waist circumference. "These study results show that risk for advanced prostate cancer can be decreased by maintaining a 'healthy' weight and adopting healthy eating and exercising are factors that can help maintain a healthy weight," Genkinger concluded

Pop star Billie Eilish delivered a powerful message about body shaming as she kicked off her world tour in Miami on Monday night. The 18-year-old has previously said she wears baggy clothes to avoid being sexualized, and addressed criticism of that choice during a video interlude. "If what I wear is comfortable, I am not a woman," she said. "If I shed the layers, I am a slut." "Though you've never seen my body, you still judge me for it. Why?" she asked. The two-minute video was played towards the end of Eilish's 22-song set, immediately before the song All The Good Girls Go To Hell. In the visual, Eilish was seen removing several layers of clothing until she was only wearing a bra, before sinking symbolically under the surface of a black, tar-like liquid. At the end of the clip, she warned against making "assumptions about people based on their size." "We decide who they are. We decide what they're worth," she said. "If I wear more, if I wear less, who decides what that makes me? "Is my value based only on your perception? Or is your opinion of me not my responsibility?" The interlude was just one element of a spectacular live show which began Poltergeist-style, with Eilish dangling on wires underneath a floating bed. After falling through the stage, she emerged on a riser at the end of a catwalk to perform Bury A Friend, before running through tracks including You Should See Me In A Crown, Ocean Eyes and her Bond theme No Time To Die. She played Copycat from a floating walkway above the stage, and showcased her piano skills during a brief instrumental at the keyboard. During the concert, the five time Grammy-winner dressed in her traditional baggy clothes - with a green sequinned shirt that matched her shorts and black Nike high-top trainers. For the uptempo songs, she bounded up and down the catwalk, her vocals frequently drowned out by the crowd. Coronavirus permitting, the tour comes to Europe in July after a 38-date trek across North and South America; with dates scheduled in Manchester, Birmingham and Manchester. The full text of Eilish's body shaming speech is below: Do you really know me? You have opinions about my opinions, about my music, about my clothes, about my body. Some people hate what I wear, some people praise it. Some people use it to shame others, some people use it to shame me. But I feel you watching ... always. And nothing I do goes unseen. So while I feel your stares, your disapproval or your sighs of relief, if I lived by them, I'd never be able to move. Would you like me to be smaller? Weaker? Softer? Taller? Would you like me to be quiet? Do my shoulders provoke you? Does my chest? Am I my stomach? My hips? The body I was born with, is it not what you wanted? If what I wear is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I am a slut. Though you've never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it. Why? You make assumptions about people based on their size. We decide who they are. We decide what they're worth. If I wear more, if I wear less, who decides what that makes me? What that means? Is my value based only on your perception? Or is your opinion of me not my responsibility? Meanwhile, the IFPI, which represents the music industry worldwide, has named Eilish's Bad Guy as the biggest global single of 2019. The song topped the charts in 15 countries when it was released just under a year ago.

The latest generation of high-bandwidth memory, HBM2E, is around the corner. Now that Samsung has started mass production of its HBM2E memory stacks, Rambus has unveiled its controller and PHY (physical interface) designs Announced last week, Rambus' controller and PHY designs enable specifications that fall right in line with the JEDEC HBM2E standard. The controller supports up to 12-layers of 3D stacked DRAM memory. Each level of DRAM in HBM2E can fit up to 24Gb, which means individual HBM2E stacks will come in capacities of up to 36GB at full height. Similarly, the interface specs a 1,024-bit width, which paired with a 3.2 Gbps memory frequency translates to an aggregate memory bandwidth of 410 GBps Rambus' place in the market is that of an IP licensor. It does physically build the controller or interfaces, but instead licenses its designs out to chipmakers who want to integrate HBM2E into their silicon. For smaller manufacturers, licensing HBM2E controller and interface designs is significantly more cost-effective than the R&D costs of creating their own designs. That being said, HBM2E will still be an expensive memory product. GDDR6, as found in most modern-day consumer-grade products, is much cheaper and will continue to dominate the market for a long time. HBM2E is expected to make its biggest impact in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing applications, where the extremely high memory bandwidth is a hard requirement and there's limited board space on GPUs.

It's no secret that the coronavirus is wreaking havoc on the tech industry's supply chains, and after almost all tech events got canceled or changed somehow, it wouldn't be surprising to see product launches delayed, too. This could be the case with Intel's upcoming 10th Gen Desktop CPUs. Unikoshardware.com spotted pictures of the upcoming Intel Core i5-10400, as well as a slide that claims to come from Intel. The slide details what Intel employees are and are not allowed to tell the media, but the most notable line is the "Press News Embargo: April 13 - June 26, 2020." Assuming this is a legit slide, it tells us that there is no set embargo date yet for the chip's release. Thus far, many rumors have pointed to April or May release dates, but it looks like that may or may not happen. With the coronavirus outbreak causing problems in the supply chain, it wouldn't make sense for Intel to release its new CPUs if its partners aren't able to produce the motherboards to support the chips. Computer Base from Germany also shares these concerns. Nevertheless, we have to consider a more likely alternative. April 13 could be the day Intel will hold the general introduction of the chips, proceeding to announce the lineup of CPUs between then and June 26, each with their own specific embargo date. In the meantime, feast your eyes on what may be the first picture of the Intel Core i5-10400. This chip is expected to feature six cores and 12 threads and run at a base frequency of 2.9 GHz with boost up to 4 GHz. It'll also reportedly come with a 65W TDP, though it's also known that Intel's TDPs are not a measurement of the maximum power consumption.

BMW has iced plans to bring its first electric crossover to the U.S. for now. The BMW iX3 was scheduled to arrive in the first half of 2021. "At this time we do not have plans to bring the iX3 to the U.S. market," a spokesman confirmed to Automotive News, declining to elaborate on the reasons for the decision. BMW, like its German rival Mercedes-Benz, is grappling with the realization that the world's second-largest auto market remains half-hearted in its embrace of electric vehicles. Despite their proclamations of interest in battery-powered vehicles, a few automakers other than Tesla have made much traction in the U.S. market with EVs. Complicating their calculations, regulatory pressures in Europe and China are creating urgent need for EVs in those markets. Automakers face hefty fines in Europe next year if they fail to cut their fleet CO2 emissions to an average 95 grams per kilometer. As a result, the German automakers are recalibrating their EV ambitions in the U.S. - diverting production supply to markets that are more receptive to the new technology, and biding their time for America's interest to kindle. In December, Mercedes-Benz told dealers it would delay the U.S. Launch of its EQC electric crossover by at least a year, pushing it to 2021. Mercedes pinned the decision on strong demand for the EQC in Europe. "We had to make a little bit of a tough choice," Daimler CEO Ola Källenius told reporters in January at CES in Las Vegas. "Demand [from Europe] by far outstrips supply, even though we are ramping up and adding additional battery lines to the production." Limited range In late January, BMW informed dealers at a meeting in Boca Raton, Fla., Of its decision to not introduce the iX3 in the United States next year. The crossover is an electric version of the brand's best-selling vehicle, the X3. BMW sold 70,110 X3s in the U.S. last year, up 14 percent from 2018. With the iX3, the X3 will become BMW's first model available with a conventional combustion engine, a plug-in hybrid or a pure electric system. But the planned EV was shaping up to be an underperformer in the U.S. An EPA estimate of the iX3's driving range has not been disclosed. Unless the vehicle has a range of at least 300 miles, "it's not worth bringing to the table," said one retailer who asked not to be identified. That is not a given with the new product. Manufactured in China, the iX3 is powered by a 74-kWh lithium ion battery. That is smaller than the beefier batteries in luxury electric crossovers currently on U.S. roads. The Jaguar i-Pace crossover, for instance, has an EPA range of 234 miles per charge, and it uses a larger 90-kWh battery. The Audi e-tron carries a 95-kWh battery that manages to eke out only 204 miles. Both of those models are selling slowly in the U.S. The BMW iX3 isn't going to cut it in the U.S. market, said Sam Abuelsamid, principal analyst at Navigant Research. "To be competitive, you really want to have closer to at least 240 to 250 miles of EPA range," Abuelsamid said. "Anything less than that and I think you're going to be struggling in the marketplace." Competitive? Another U.S. challenge for the iX3 is that BMW plans to launch it only with rear-wheel drive, limiting its appeal to American crossover buyers seeking the flexibility of all-while drive. The BMW iX3 is tailored for the China market, where extended range is not a customer priority, said Sam Fiorani, vice president at AutoForecast Solutions. "Why push a vehicle with limited appeal into North America only to come up short next to a Tesla Model Y or Ford Mustang Mach-E?" Fiorani said. He believes BMW will have a more competitive chance for a U.S. iX3 when the automaker develops the next-generation X3 platform. "With better batteries and all-wheel drive, the next generation would make a proper entry into this very competitive segment," Fiorani said. The BMW iX3, made by joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive in Shenyang, China, features the fifth generation of BMW's eDrive technology, with the drive unit combining the electric motor, system electronics and transmission into a central housing, reducing its weight and footprint. The iX3 is part of BMW's ambitious target to have 25 electrified models on the road by 2023. And despite its reversal on the iX3, the Bavarian automaker is sticking to a plan to bring two EVs to the U.S. in the next couple of years. First is the iNext crossover, which goes into production in the middle of 2021. That will be followed by the i4 sedan, which begins production toward the end of 2021. The i4 and iNext have a range of more than 370 miles, compared with the iX3's 273-mile range, based on the European emissions test cycle. "With the two longer-range models coming, we don't need the limited range, rear-wheel drive iX3 right now," another dealer said.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been searching for a significant moment since being handed the job as Manchester United manager while basking in the afterglow of a caretaker's honeymoon period. As he strolled down the touchline in an Old Trafford downpour at the conclusion of Manchester United's first Premier League double over Manchester City since 2009-10, the first since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement, this felt a little like it. It was all done in the euphoria of a 2-0 victory but as Solskjaer shielded his eyes and tried to find his family in the crowd and his name resounded around the stadium, he looked like the heavy burden of this mammoth job was, in part , being lightened. Solskjaer has been struggling as much as his side to convince the skeptics this season, as one of football's superpowers lurked on the margins of the Premier League's top four. And yet, with a run of 10 games unbeaten and the addition of an operator who looks a genuine class act in Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon, Solskjaer now at least has the opportunity to clear away some of the doubts come season's end. United have a favorable draw against Austrians LASK in the last 16 of the Europa League, travel to Premier League strugglers Norwich City in the FA Cup quarter-final and now stand only three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea in the Premier League and five behind Leicester City in third. The clouds that looked to be closing in during those first months of the season have, for now, rolled away. It must also be no time to get carried away. Solskjaer will be judged on United's final league placing and, for context they are 37 points behind the old foe Liverpool as they run away with their first title in 30 years. This is the gap any Manchester United manager will eventually be required to bridge. In just a few weeks, however, there has been a major shift in mood and momentum inside Old Trafford. It is certainly a far cry from when a lame 2-0 loss at Liverpool on 19 January was followed by a 2-0 loss at home to Burnley on the following Wednesday. United actually traveled to League One Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup fourth round on 26 January with Solskjaer under serious and increasing scrutiny but the release and relaxation of a 6-0 win kick-started this fine run. Those of us who still remain to be fully convinced of Solskjaer's credentials must not be churlish enough to avoid giving him full credit when it is due. He has now overcome Manchester City and manager Pep Guardiola three times this season, twice in the league and once in a losing cause in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Etihad Stadium. As previous seasons have told us, this takes some doing. Solskjaer's cause has been helped by what appears to be two particularly smart pieces of recruitment, the lack of which has been the failing at the heart of so many of Manchester United's problems since Ferguson's departure. Aaron Wan-Bissaka, at £ 45m, looks a superb investment for now and the future. He is another example of England's riches at right-back alongside Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold and Reece James at Chelsea. Wan-Bissaka, 22, won his battle with Manchester City's Raheem Sterling hands down. Sterling had his moments but the youngster signed from Crystal Palace in the summer hounded him into submission on many occasions, winning roars of approval from Old Trafford's gallery. And at the hub of it all was Fernandes, the 25-year-old signed from Sporting Lisbon for an initial £ 47m that could eventually rise to £ 67.7m with add-ons. Whatever the eventual bill, Fernandes is making those prices look like a bargain - although it still begs the question as to why United totally dismissed interest in him in the summer and left it so late to get a deal over the line during the January transfer window . Fernandes provides United with a focal point, a game changer and a player whose speed of thought and action is already offering Solskjaer's team a new dimension. Let the statistics speak for themselves. Since making his Premier League debut in the goalless draw at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on 1 February, Fernandes has been involved in more goals in the competition than any other player with two goals and three assists. Take United's first goal here, a quickly-taken free-kick on the half-hour, lifted over Manchester City's wall, opponents caught off guard and the job completed when Anthony Martial struck a finish past keeper Ederson. Yes, it required stage one of Ederson's personal nightmare day to allow Martial's shot to squirm in but Solskjaer will have been elated at the way two of his most threatening players are so clearly on the same wavelength in the crucial moment so early in their relationship. Fernandes has pushed thoughts of the permanently absent Paul Pogba even further into the background. At the other end, Solskjaer's defense is starting to have a look of solidity, with eight clean sheets and only two goals conceded in their past 10 games in all competitions. Solskjaer's side has looked a more impressive package in that sequence with the influence of Fernandes adding the X-factor to what was a potentially potent attack. No wonder Solskjaer was smiling at the final whistle as he revelled in a victory over their derby rivals that was relished just as much inside a thunderous Old Trafford. The final judgement on Solksjaer's first full season in charge must be reserved and shaped by these final weeks of the season - but this may just have been his most satisfying day of the campaign, with things looking a whole lot more satisfactory for the Norwegian.

In a study of epilepsy patients, researchers at the National Institutes of Health monitored the electrical activity of thousands of individual brain cells, called neurons, as patients took memory tests. They found that the firing patterns of the cells that occurred when patients learned a word pair were replayed fractions of a second before they successfully remembered the pair. The study was part of an NIH Clinical Center trial for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy whose seizures cannot be controlled with drugs. "Memory plays a crucial role in our lives. Just as musical notes are recorded as grooves on a record, it appears that our brains store memories in neural firing patterns that can be replayed over and over again," said Kareem Zaghloul, MD, Ph D., a neurosurgeon-researcher at the NIH's National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and senior author of the study published in Science. Dr. Zaghloul's team has been recording electrical currents of drug-resistant epilepsy patients temporarily living with surgically implanted electrodes designed to monitor brain activity in the hopes of identifying the source of a patient's seizures. This period also provides an opportunity to study neural activity during memory. In this study, his team examined the activity used to store memories of our past experiences, which scientists call episodic memories. In 1957, the case of an epilepsy patient H.M. provided a breakthrough in memory research. H.M could not remember new experiences after part of his brain was surgically removed to stop his seizures. Since then, research has pointed to the idea that episodic memories are stored, or encoded, as neural activity patterns that our brains replay when triggered by such things as the whiff of a familiar scent or the riff of a catchy tune. But exactly how this happens was unknown. Over the past two decades, rodent studies have suggested that the brain may store memories in unique neuronal firing sequences. After joining Dr. Zaghloul's lab, Alex P. Vaz, B.S., an M.D., Ph.D. student at Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, and the leader of this study decided to test this idea in humans. "We thought that if we looked carefully at the data we had been collecting from patients we might be able to find a link between memory and neuronal firing patterns in humans that is similar to that seen in rodents," said Vaz, a bioengineer who specializes in deciphering the meaning of electrical signals generated by the body. To do this they analyzed the firing patterns of individual neurons located in the anterior temporal lobe, a brain language center. Currents were recorded as patients sat in front of a screen and were asked to learn word pairs such as "cake" and "fox." The researchers discovered that unique firing patterns of individual neurons were associated with learning each new word pattern. Later, when a patient was shown one of the words, such as "cake," a very similar firing pattern was replayed just milliseconds before the patient correctly recalled the paired word "fox." "These results suggest that our brains may use distinct sequences of neural spiking activity to store memories and then replay them when we remember a past experience," said Dr. Zaghloul. Last year, his team showed that electrical waves, called ripples, may emerge in the brain just split seconds before we remember something correctly. In this study, the team discovered a link between the ripples recorded in the anterior temporal lobe and the spiking patterns seen during learning and memory. They also showed that ripples recorded in another area called the medial temporal lobe slightly preceded the replay of firing patterns seen in the anterior temporal lobe during learning. "Our results support the idea that memories involve coordinated replay of neuronal firing patterns throughout the brain," said Dr. Zaghloul. "Studying how we form and retrieve memories may not only help us understand ourselves but also how neuronal circuits break down in memory disorders." This study was supported by the NINDS Intramural Research Program and NIH training grants (NS113400, GM007171).

Everyone arriving in Israel will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days to prevent the spread of coronavirus, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says. "All those coming to Israel from abroad will be placed in isolation," he said in a video address posted to Twitter. Israeli Interior Minister Aryeh Deri said the measure would be effective immediately for all Israelis returning to the country. It will apply to foreign citizens from Thursday, he added. The move means that foreign arrivals will have to prove that they have adequate accommodation to be quarantined during their stay in the country. "After a day of complex discussions, we made a decision: everyone who comes to Israel from abroad will enter the 14-day isolation," Mr Netanyahu said in a statement. "This is a tough decision, but it is essential to maintain public health - and public health precedes everything." He added that the ruling would be valid for two weeks. The measure means that about 268,000 Italian who are currently abroad would need to quarantine themselves on their return, Israeli media report. Israel, a country with a po[CENSORED]tion of about nine million, has so far recorded 42 cases of Covid-19, but no deaths. The country has already imposed restrictions on travellers arriving from several countries including Italy, the worst-hit European country.

Nvidia might have to rebrand GeForce Now as GeForce Later, because the company said Friday that 2K Games asked to have its titles removed from the streaming platform, making it the latest addition to the list of publishers avoiding the service. GeForce Now officially exited beta on February 4. Nvidia said it supported over 1,000 titles at launch, but it didn't take long for publishers to pull their games from the service. The following companies have had their titles removed from GeForce Now: Capcom Electronic Arts Konami Remedy Rockstar Games Square Enix Activision Blizzard Bethesda Softworks Nvidia has repeatedly said it's working with publishers to bring them back to GeForce Now. 2K Games was no different - an Nvidia employee said that the company is "working with 2K Games to re-enable their games in the future."

According to the new DigiTimes report, Nvidia will be among the three major customers that will be packing CoMoS from TSMC this year, with the other two being Xilinx and HiSilicon. CoWoS (Chip-on-Wafer-on-substrate) is a 2.5D encapsulation technology that integrates multiple segments into a single interferer. The list of basic benefits includes much less space, increased bandwidth and lower power consumption. Speaking of CoWoS, TSMC jointly developed with Broadcom recently a massive 1700 mm2 interferer. In short, the concept consists of several interconnected interconnecting interconnects on a single chip. The new design is emerging in the Broadcom HPC (High Performance Computing) processor based on TSMC's EUV 5nm (N5) node. An enhanced CoWoS platform can die many System Templates (SoC) on the system and up to six stacks of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), and the total mass memory reaches 96 GB. TSMC is promoting a memory bandwidth of up to 2.7 terabytes per second, 2.7 times faster than the company's previous CoWoS system that started in 2016. Coming back to Nvidia, the chipmaker is no stranger to CoWoS packaging. The technology is present on a number of high-end Titan, Quadro and Tesla graphics cards, dating back to the Pascal era. The GP100 (Pascal) and GV100 (Volta) silicons come out of TSMC's furnace and use CoWoS packaging. The first is based on the foundry's 16nm FinFET manufacturing process, while the latter profits from the 12nm node. AMD's Vega 20 7nm silicon is also packaged with CoWoS. DigiTimes did not include AMD on its top three list, which means Nvidia, Xilinx and HiSilicon will ultimately gobble up TSMC's CoWoS production capacity. The foundry will reportedly pump out between 6,000 to 8,000 wafers per month so there should be enough product to go around. In any event, we don't expect Nvidia's consumer graphics cards to feature CoWoS technology due to the high costs that it would post to the consumer. The chipmaker will probably turn to CoWoS for its Quadro and Tesla offerings like in the past. Ampere is the codename for Nvidia's next-generation GPU architecture, but there hasn't been an indication that it will utilize a MCM (multi-chip module) design, though. Hopper, on the other hand, might rely on MCM. We've already seen a trio of mysterious Nvidia graphics cards sporting ginormous amounts of CUDA cores and memory. Although we're unsure of their nature, the unidentified graphics cards should make use of one of Nvidia's upcoming GPU architectures.
