  4. Paul Georges- Ntep has told the French media why he choose to ignore the advances of Queens Park Rangers in the last winter transfer window. The West London side were close to bringing in the young Frenchman last January but instead he joined Ligue 1 side Rennes where he has become one of the stars of French football. Le10 Sport have reported on comments Ntep made to French TV when he was asked about his opportunity to go abroad earlier this year. He said that in a player’s career you only get a few choices and at that time he preferred to remain in France and show that he could make it in the top flight of French football after impressing in Ligue 2 with Auxerre. He realised that Rennes was the perfect club to join and therefore ignored the advances of the likes of QPR and other foreign clubs. “We know that a career that is played with a few choices. I preferred to stay in France to confirm what I had shown in Ligue 2, and I think that Rennes is the perfect club for that,” said Nteps on his decision to ignore a move abroad. We covered the story last January that Auxerre president Guy Cotret had received a bid from QPR for Ntep but it didn’t met the valuation set by the French club. It was never disclosed to what QPR offered but it is likely that is was lower than the €6m fee his club Auxerre were asking. Rennes agreed to pay this but the ultimate decision came down to the player. Rennes managed to offer the personal terms he is wanting and he therefore joined the French side at the end of January.

  8. While the club remain unbeaten in Ligue 1 this season, the defender admits things are not going as planned after another disappointing draw on Saturday Gregory van der Wiel confessed Paris Saint-Germain "do not feel well" after they slipped to a 0-0 draw with Montpellier. Laurent Blanc's side have trailed leaders Marseille throughout the first half of the campaign and missed a chance to leapfrog them at the top of the table on Saturday. The result means PSG are level on 38 points with Marcelo Bielsa's pace-setters, but OM could pull three points clear with victory over Lille on Sunday afternoon. "We do not feel well," Van der Wiel said after the game. "We lost points. We wanted to finish the year with a win but we did not play a good game. "It's difficult, we're not at our best at the moment. That's why every game is difficult for us, we must work hard to play better and then we will win more easily." For all of the Dutchman's cries of woe, PSG remain unbeaten in Ligue 1 and are the only side yet to be beaten in the league in the whole of Europe. The club have also fared well in the Champions League, having qualified for the knockout stages of the competition, where they will face Chelsea in the last-16. It is those positive points that striker Edinson Cavani looked towards on reflection of a testing start to the campaign, with silverware still well within their sights in 2015. "The feeling I have now is that we should only think of the ultimate goal. We are only halfway through the championship. "Now it's time to relax a little and recharge our batteries and come back with a lot of desire for the second half of the season. We have several competitions to play for and we will do our best until the very last day of the championship."
  9. Arsenal fans must already be crossing their fingers in the hope that Arsene Wenger will bring in some top talent during the January transfer window. After all, The Gunners haven’t been all that impressive thus far this season. Sure, they’ve had their moments, just like any other half-decent side, but they’re still severely lacking in class in multiple areas of the pitch. It will be interesting to see how Arsene Wenger reacts. Will he spend big and look to bring the club back into contention, or will he stick with the options that he’s already got in the hope that they come good? This brings me to The Metro‘s claim that Arsenal are weighing up a move for two Serie A stars. The men in question are Roma’s talented centre-forward, Mattia Destro and Napoli’s rugged midfielder, Marek Hamsik. Together, this dynamic duo could make a major impact at The Emirates. Olivier Giroud is in good form at the moment and Danny Welbeck is a good option, but it certainly won’t hurt to up the competition in this part of the pitch. At just 23-years-old, Destro has managed to find the back of the net 23 times in 52 games, which is a healthy return for a young player. He’s also managed to accrue 8 caps for the Italian international team, so it’s clear that he’s a talented individual. Then there’s Marek Hamsik. The 27-year-old has played 321 games for Napoli and he’s scored 82 goals. He’s an experienced option, with plenty of final product. With Arsenal’s midfield ravaged by injuries, the Slovakian international may be worth a look in. This duo won’t come cheap. The aforementioned source suggests that Destro alone could cost The Gunners as much as £15m and that Arsene Wenger may have to sell players to force this double-swoop through. If selling the likes of Lukas Podolski, Tomas Rosicky and Joel Campbell gives Arsenal the opportunity to bring these two new recruits in, then it could prove to be a good decision on the part of The Professor.

  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_o-6PvL8qw Inter Milan are keeping tabs on Spurs winger Aaron Lennon and are considering a bid in the coming weeks, according to reports in Italy. The Serie A side’s new boss Roberto Mancini reportedly dispatched scouts to watch the game between Chelsea and Tottenham earlier this month. England international Lennon, aged 27, is his target, claims Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport. The ex-Leeds man has been at White Hart Lane for 10 years and is under contract until 2016 but is no longer a guaranteed starter. Spurs have been linked with Inter’s Colombian midfielder Fredy Guarin for some time. A part-exchange deal involving Lennon and Guarin is touted as a possibility.

  17. Arsenal are reportedly lining up a £26m bid to lure Barcelona winger Pedro to the Emirates Stadium in the New Year. The 27-year-old has scored six goals for the Catalan giants this season, although he is said to be growing restless having made just six league starts under Luis Enrique so far this season. It is claimed by The Express that long-time admirers Arsenal could offer the Spain international a route away from the club, where he will link up with former teammate Alexis Sanchez. Pedro was rumoured to have handed in a transfer request at the Camp Nou earlier this year, although in the wake of speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League, he vowed to continue fighting for his place.
  18. Paris Saint-Germain forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic has praised Wayne Rooney for the hunger he shows during matches. Rooney was recently made captain of Manchester United and England and Ibrahimovic says that his desire is a positive influence for his teammates. "I do like Rooney," he told The Guardian. "For me he has a lot of hunger when he plays. I think he's good for the team. The rest? I cannot judge them because I don't know them." Rooney has scored 41 goals in 97 appearances for England.
