Under the bonnet, expect the new 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol turbo from the Corsa to be fitted, to rival Ford’s EcoBoost units. More efficient 1.6 petrols and diesels should appear too, as well as the Intellilink smartphone connection. A three-door and estate will feature later. Price: from £50,000 (est) On sale: early 2015 Tesla’s Model X is based on the same platform as the Model S supersaloon, but will arrive with seven seats and upward-opening, double-hinged ‘falcon’ doors that provide easy access to the second and third row of seats. Elegant exterior styling cues will also make their way across from the Model S, as will the minimalist dashboard that features a 17-inch touchscreen.
