  1. Musician Name: Marshall Bruce Mathers III Birthday / Location: October 17, 1972 (49 years old) St. Joseph, Missouri United States Main instrument: Hip hop Musician Picture: Musician Awards & Nominations:- Best Performance: - Other Information: Marshall Bruce Mathers III, better known by his stage name Eminem (October 17, 1972), is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer and actor. He gained rapid po[CENSORED]rity in 1999 with the release of The Slim Shady LP, which won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album of the Year. His next work, The Marshall Mathers LP, became the best-selling solo album in US history. This fact made him known all over the world, and helped to promote his label, Shady Records, and his group, D12. The Marshall Mathers LP and his third album, The Eminem Show, also won Grammy Awards, making him the first artist to win Best Rap Album of the Year three times in a row. In 2003, he won the Oscar for best original song with "Lose Yourself", which was featured in his semi-biographical film, 8 Mile. "Lose Yourself" would go on to become the longest-running No. 1 single on the hip hop charts. In 2004, rumors about the end of his career were announced after the release of the Encore album, which ended with the announcement of Relapse, officially released on May 15, 2009. According to Nielsen SoundScan, Eminem is the artist who most sold in the decade in the United States and is currently in the 30th position of record sales in the history of the country according to the RIAA ranking, and in the world has about 115 million albums sold, making him one of the record-selling artists of disks. In 2010, he released Recovery, which featured the single "Love the Way You Lie", which was a huge commercial success. Recovery became Eminem's sixth consecutive album to debut at number one on the US charts. At first, the album spent five consecutive weeks at the top, later returning for another two, and adding seven weeks at number one in total. Eminem was chosen 79th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" list. In a similar list, he was ranked 82nd by Rolling Stone magazine. Including the work with D12, Eminem accumulates 9 albums at the top of the Billboard Top 200, being 7 solo (6 studio, 1 compilation) and 2 with D12. He has 13 number one singles worldwide. Such success made Eminem recognized by Billboard as the Artist of the Decade. According to the same Billboard, the rapper had two of the five best-selling albums between 2000 and 2009. Eminem has also sold over 17 million downloads of his songs in the United States alone. In 2010, MTV ranked Eminem as the seventh greatest icon in pop music history. In 2009, Eminem was voted the best rapper of all time by Vibe magazine, beating Tupac in the finals. Eminem's songwriting was controversial; some critics considered his lyrics to be misogynistic and homophobic, with characteristics of hate speech. In 2006, ABC News named him the "Most Controversial Musician of the New Millennium".

  7. Samsung Galaxy A24, Galaxy A34, and Galaxy A54 are said to be in the works as the next offerings from the South Korean smartphone company. The new Galaxy A-series smartphones could debut next year, and Samsung is reportedly considering ditching the depth-sensing rear cameras from these upcoming models. With this, the Galaxy A24, Galaxy A34, and Galaxy A54 could pack triple rear cameras unlike their predecessors, which sported a quad rear camera setup. The handsets may follow in the footsteps of the newly launched Galaxy M13, Redmi K50i, and Moto G82 5G, among others. According to a report by The Elec (in Korean), Samsung is planning to drop depth sensors from upcoming mid-range Galaxy A-series smartphones. The company is reportedly planning to counter the likes of Chinese smartphone makers by improving the camera specifications of the remaining sensors. The rumoured Galaxy A24, Galaxy A34, and Galaxy A54 models are said to debut with triple rear cameras next year. According to the report, the triple rear camera unit of Galaxy A24 will include a 50-megapixel main sensor, 8-megapixel ultra wide angle sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor. The Galaxy A34, on the other hand, is said to pack a 48-megapixel primary shooter, 8-megapixel ultra wide angle sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor. The camera setup of Galaxy A54 could feature a 50-megapixel main sensor, 5-megapixel ultra wide angle shooter and a 5-megapixel camera sensor. The Samsung Galaxy A24, Galaxy A34, and Galaxy A54 will be succeeding the Galaxy A23, Galaxy A33, and Galaxy A53, respectively. All these available models feature a quad rear camera module. The purported move by the South Korean company would not just help in strengthening the essential camera specifications for the other sensors but also is likely to reduce the cost of the handsets.
  8. Windows 11 has just introduced a new feature in testing which makes a handy improvement to the taskbar, among some other changes. The main point of interest here is the work on the taskbar which consists of an overflow facility that’s present for Windows Insiders (testers) in the latest preview build 25163 (which has just arrived in the Dev Channel). What this does is to bring in a button (featuring three dots) at the end of the taskbar icons (far-right), and if you fill up the taskbar with lots of apps, any additional programs which are running (or pinned) can be accessed by clicking on those three dots. Those excess apps will then pop up in a small bar just above the taskbar. It’s a bit like the system tray, on the right-hand side of the taskbar, which has that little up-arrow icon you can click to see the rest of its contents. This taskbar overflow menu allows for all the same interactions with app icons as the taskbar itself, meaning you can pin apps and so forth. And it won’t outstay its welcome either, vanishing when you select an app from it, or click away from it. Another change incorporated with build 25163 is a tweak to ‘Nearby Sharing’ (Microsoft’s take on AirDrop), allowing Windows 11 users to easily share files to other devices not just via Bluetooth, but now also to other PCs on the same network (thanks to UDP support). The share window in the OS has also been improved to include OneDrive as an option, allowing you to share files directly to the cloud service (and grab them on whatever device you need, from there). Microsoft also applied the expected raft of bug fixes, and if you want to peruse the full list, check out the blog post on build 25163(opens in new tab). Analysis: Here’s another task for you, Microsoft… Taskbar overflow is a useful facility for those who like to work with a ton of applications, and the design looks sensible to us. It’ll also be a boon for folks who are short on screen real-estate and may run into trouble more easily when juggling multiple apps. While we’re on the subject of the taskbar, though, can we ask: Microsoft, could you please bring back the option to not combine icons? Not everyone is bothered about this, we realize, but also not everyone wants different instances of the same apps stacked up together – and would it really hurt to offer the choice, as with Windows 10? Anyhow, our personal moans aside, back to the changes applied here – the sharing additions aren’t exactly major, but they’re worth having. And regarding the bug fixes, it’s good to see that some more work has been carried out on File Explorer to fix a memory leak when using tabs (and a crash issue when dragging tabs around, too).
  9. Samsung's revised take at a Computational Storage Device (CSD) may be just another key element in High Performance Computing (HPC) environments. Powered by an AMD Xilinx Versal FPGA, Samsung promises its new product will lead to 50% reduced computational times, a 70% lower power consumption, and a reduction in CPU utilization in the order of 97% compared to the cost of running conventional SSD devices for frequently-accessed data. The SmartSSD has just become smarter. Enabled by the recent AMD-Xilinx marriage (which closed on February 14th just like any mainstream love story), Samsung's second-gen SmartSSD can process data itself. While this may seem like a case of finding a solution for a non-existent problem, it actually solves one of the most pressing bottlenecks in HPC: the flow of data between different elements of the compute path. Because data is processed directly within the SSD, there's no need for it to be shuffled back and forth between storage banks. Not only does this free up bandwidth for the flow of other data, it also aids on cutting latency, as there's no additional trips between the central processing unit and the data storage device itself. It also frees up the system's CPUs towards more performance-critical tasks rather than processing the read and writing of data towards the CSD's memory banks. It's a cost that may be negligible for the end-user in 99% of scenarios, but as the amount of processed data increases, so does its reading and writing apply a bigger load on the system. With the extreme compute density of the latest systems being what it is, diverting even a tiny bit of processing towards a component that's comparatively passive when compared to the CPU also aids in better dispersing the generated heat. Samsung's second-gen SmartSSD features in-built Arm cores - especially well-geared towards the low-power, low-temperature environment of an SSD deployment within a supercomputer. According to Samsung, the CSD is especially geared towards the AI/ML inferencing market, Business Intelligence analysis, big data analytics, video transcoding, financial services, genomics, search queries and transparent compression. "Commercialization of the first-generation SmartSSD, in collaboration with AMD, established that the computational storage market has great potential,” said Jin-Hyeok Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of Memory Solution Product & Development at Samsung Electronics in a press release. “With the upgraded processing functionality of the second-generation SmartSSD, Samsung will be able to easily address increasing customer needs in the database and video transcoding sectors, as we expand the boundaries of the next-generation storage market.” At the very least, it aids in liberating the CPU cores for those extra percentage points of work. With power budgets for supercomputers being what their are, the benefits of that 97% reduction in CPU load compared to a typical SSD will allow more work to be done within the same CPU or GPU. Mind you, this isn't the first computational SSD we've covered - that honor belongs to the NGD Systems' Chia-AutoPlot CSD, which aimed to give Chia users a way to achieve the same macro-level results as Samsung's SmartSSD, but aimed at mining the Proof of Time and Space Chia cryptocurrency.

  16. Using Microsoft Teams on a Mac could finally be a lot more straightforward after the company confirmed native support for the platform is in the works. A post(opens in new tab) on the official Microsoft 365 roadmap has revealed that the video conferencing service will soon come as a Universal Binary Mac, meaning it will run natively on both Intel and Apple Silicon based Mac devices. Previously, Mac users have been forced to use non-native versions of the Microsoft Teams app, using Apple's Rosetta 2 translation tech to operate on machines with M1 chips, causing a drop-off in performance. Microsoft Teams for Mac The update is still listed as "in development" for the time being, but has an expected release date of September 2022, meaning users won't have too long to wait. The news follows a beta for Microsoft Teams on Apple Silicon earlier this year as the company looked to iron out any issues or bugs before entering full development. Users have been clamoring for some time for a Mac-native Microsoft Teams app, so the fact it is listed as a Universal app should also help appeal to users with both x86 and Apple Silicon, particularly now the latter has seen the second-generation M2 chip released. Microsoft has been attempting to widen the reach of Teams for some time now as it looks to boost user numbers even further. The company recently revealed Teams applications are now available(opens in new tab) outside of the platform for the first time, with users able to run some programs from within its email service Outlook and Office.com. At first, only a handful of Microsoft Teams apps will be available outside the regular client; some from Microsoft itself (e.g. Power BI) and some from third-party vendors like Zoho and Mural. However, the company has promised to double down on the program, with a raft of Teams apps migrating to other Microsoft spaces in the months to come.
  17. Apple has agreed to pay off disenchanted customers who were irked by its problematic butterfly keyboard key-switch design, reports Reuters. Late on Monday, a preliminary settlement for $50 million was filed, still awaiting the judge’s approval, that will compensate class-action customers in California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York and Washington. Apple introduced the butterfly keyboard design back in 2015. At its unveiling, it was heralded for facilitating slimmer laptop designs (it debuted in the MacBook Air), as well as greater precision, quietness and stability. Unfortunately, these keyboards quickly gained a reputation for being unreliable, with keys failing to register actuations or becoming sticky, and so on. An inherent problem(opens in new tab) in the design was that it was susceptible to dust and particulate matter ingress. Though Apple went through several generations of butterfly switches, with additions such as dust membranes, Apple laptop enthusiasts were relieved when simpler and more reliable scissor switches returned in 2019. From our potted history of butterfly mechanism keyboards, above, you won’t be surprised that the class action lawsuit covers the full period that these switches were equipped in new Mac portables; from 2015 to 2019. So, if you bought one of the Mac laptops with a butterfly keyboard during the period stated in the US states this class action covers, what can you hope to gain by way of compensation? The answer is that most will get very little. Lawyers expect the highest compensation amount will be $395 for those who replaced multiple MacBook keyboards. More common will be those affected by a single laptop needing a keyboard replacement, and these people will get up to $125 in compensation. Lastly, Mac users who replaced keys rather than the whole keyboard are in line for $50. Obviously, the $50 million cake is being cut into very thin slices. Conversely, lawyers working on this class action suit may seek fees of up to $15 million, says Reuters. If you still suffer from butterfly keyboard blues, you have our sympathies, and you'll remain eligible for four years of free keyboard repairs. Has justice been done? If they are lucky enough to be covered by this class action suit, those affected by unreliable keyboard issues multiple times over multiple replacements probably won’t be impressed by the compensation. Lastly, according to the source report, Apple denies any wrongdoing as part of its settlement agreement. It must be hoping to sweep this design flaw under the carpet, with a few people in a few US states receiving a paltry sum.

  23. Waiting endlessly for other people to join your Microsoft Teams meeting could soon be a lot less tedious thanks to a new update coming soon. The video conferencing service is working on a feature that will automatically end what it calls "stale" Microsoft Teams meetings. This should mean an end to the awkward occurence when users turn up to a meeting that has already been cancelled or postponed, or just show up at the wrong time or date. Microsoft Teams meeting ends In its entry on the official Microsoft 365 roadmap(opens in new tab), the company notes that if a user is the sole participant in a meeting that has been identified as "stale" (as in, no one else accepted the invitation, or said they will be joining), they will see a dialog prompting to end the call or dismiss the notification. If no action is taken, the meeting will automatically end. The entry notes that the feature is still "in development", but has an expected launch date of August 2022, meaning users shouldn't have too long to wait. Upon release, it will be available to Microsoft Teams users across web, desktop and Mac, with no apparent admin permissions or changes needed. The feature is the latest in a long series of upgrades to Microsoft Teams as the platform looks to make its service remains a painless experience. The company recently revealed it would be adding a number of basic games to Microsoft Teams to help users pass the time whilst waiting for a call to begin. Several titles from the company's Casual Games platform are set to be part of the move, aimed at helping kill a few minutes, for example if you're waiting for someone to join the call with a quick game of Connect 4. The company has also outlined plans to introduce 3D avatars soon alongside more immersive Microsoft Teams meetings within the so-called "metaverse".
