  11. Watch Ferrari's V-6 Supercar Prototype Lapping Fiorano McConnell tees up Barrett nomination, setting up rare weekend session Eva Mendes Says Ryan Gosling Passed This Skill on to Their Daughters Road & Track logoWatch Ferrari's V-6 Supercar Prototype Lapping Fiorano In summer 2020, we laid our eyes on what sounded like Ferrari's upcoming V-6-powered car for the first time, shooting flames while lapping the company's Fiorano test track. Now, another test mule has been spied on video, and it's our best opportunity to hear what the company's reborn six-cylinder engine sounds like. YouTuber Varryx published video of this camouflaged mid-engine Ferrari prototype lapping Fiorano in anger. Among the tire squealing and powerslides, we can hear a distinct V-6 exhaust note. The tone is far different from any of the company's current twin-turbo V-8s or naturally aspirated V-12s, high-pitched and a bit raspy. Ferrari confirmed back in 2018 it would be developing a V-6 powerplant for its future models, so hearing one in the flesh isn't exactly surprising. Still, this new model would be the first V-6-powered Ferrari road car since 1974, which is a pretty big deal. What's not clear from this video is whether the V-6 we're hearing is augmented by hybrid power. In that same V-6 announcement in 2018, Ferrari said the engine would be hybrid-assisted, but without getting under the car ourselves or getting a confirmation from the company, there's no way to tell whether this car has any electric propulsion.
  12. How to be a Smart Consumer Waste Prevention A large component of Zero Waste involves realizing that the creation of waste is often not necessary. There are many things that we can do as consumers to prevent waste. Reuse Your Bags Use reusable bags every time you go shopping instead of plastic ones. This is why: Each year billions of bags end up in our streets as litter. Production requires vast amounts of oil. Plastic bags don’t biodegrade, but instead break down into small toxic particles polluting our soil and waterways. Recent studies have shown that plastic outnumbers plankton 6:1 in the ocean. Tips on how to be a Smart Consumer Buy products that have long life spans – avoid disposable items. Buy products that have minimal packaging. Buy products in their concentrated form. Buy only what you need. Consuming less, you dispose of less waste. Consider buying in bulk for those necessary purchases. You will save money and reduce packaging. Buy Products Made from Recycled Material (and Products that can be Recycled) Buy products that are made from recycled materials. This encourages manufacturers to produce more. Buy products that are easy to recycle. This puts materials back in the loop for use in other products. Other Waste Prevention Tips Save paper, time and postage by paying your bills online. As the price of paper, cards and postage increases, consider emailing e-cards. When printing documents, print on both sides of the paper. Email documents and information instead of printing and mailing them. Use cloth napkins instead of paper napkins. Moving and not Wasting The average American moves every two years. Think about the amount of waste created each time you move from one place to another. Here is what you can do for an eco-friendly move: Look for eco-friendly moving companies that provide packing materials.
  13. Next few months to be tough, many countries in 'exponential' virus surge: WHO The northern hemisphere is facing a crucial moment in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, the World Health Organization said Friday, with too many countries witnessing an exponential increase in coronavirus cases. "The next few months are going to be very tough and some countries are on a dangerous track," WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a virtual press conference. "Too many countries are seeing an exponential increase in Covid-19 cases and that is now leading to hospitals and intensive care units running close to or above capacity -- and we're still only in October. "We urge leaders to take immediate action to prevent further unnecessary deaths." The novel coronavirus has infected nearly 42 million people and killed at least 1.1 million since the outbreak emerged in China last December, according to a tally from official sources compiled by AFP. Maria Van Kerkhove, the WHO's Covid-19 technical lead, said the situation was "very worrying" in Europe, which clocked up more than half the new cases registered in the world over the last 24 hours. "We're not only seeing increases in case numbers in many cities across Europe; the capacity for ICU (intensive care units) is going to be reached in the coming weeks," she said.
  14. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales PS5 Enhancements Detailed The PlayStation 5 should make Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales smoother and more immersive. Developer Insomniac Games has opened up about some of the enhancements Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales will see on PlayStation 5 thanks to the improved hardware. In an interview with Game Informer, Insomniac discussed the ways the game takes advantage of the PlayStation 5. The first being no loading screens, with creative director Brian Horton saying that "if you die or if you fast travel there are near-instant loads." Horton went on to add that the game "just fades down and then fades up," stating Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales has a seamless world with no loading thanks to the next-gen system's SSD. Three other areas deal with performance. Specifically, graphical fidelity in the game world is higher, character performances will seem more believable, and action is smoother and more explosive. Art director Gavin Golden touched on all three topics, saying ray tracing, 4D model scans, and improved particle systems and simulations allow the game to be more immersive. The development team was also able to use the haptics inside the DualSense controller to make combat feel more impactful and visceral. Horton said the DualSense's haptic feedback "really allow bioelectric attacks to travel from one side of the controller to the other." While Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PlayStation 5 sounds like it will be the best version, the PlayStation 4 version will play just fine, too. Insomniac told Game Informer that the two versions should "feel in parity," with one game not feeling any different than the other. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales drops on November 12 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
