  3. The phones in our sub-Rs. 25,000 price bracket are roughly where the mid-range segment begins and some of them offer impressive performance, in the camera department for instance, considering their price. While the budget smartphone segment today offers phones with a decent mix of good software and hardware features, those seeking better camera performance or want added features will often find themselves looking for smartphones in the mid-range segment. Features such as optical image stabilisation (OIS) and high refresh rate OLED displays are getting common, with some manufacturers even offering curved-edge displays in this segment. The latest entrant is the Poco X5 Pro 5G and the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G, both of which offer really good value in terms of hardware. Another new entrant to our list is the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G which recently received a price cut and is now available from Rs. 23,990 in India. There's also the Xiaomi 11i 5G which we've added as a special mention as its virtually identical to the 11i HyperCharge (Review), except for the charging bit. Here's our list, in no particular order. Phones under Rs. 25,000Gadgets 360 rating (out of 10)Price in India (as recommended) Poco X5 Pro 5G8Rs. 22,999 Realme 10 Pro+ 5G8Rs. 24,999 Samsung Galaxy M53 5G8Rs. 23,990 Motorola Edge 308Rs. 24,999 iQoo Z58Rs. 23,990 Xiaomi 11i 5G-Rs. 24,999 Poco X5 Pro 5G The Poco X5 Pro 5G offers a great multimedia experience, solid performance, and good battery life. The design is subjective and if you ask us, we're not big fans of the way it looks. However, the lightweight and slim design might attract many buyers. The primary rear camera and the front camera do a good job but the other two have some room for improvement. All in all, if you want a phone that offers good performance and is a decent overall package, the Poco X5 Pro 5G can certainly be considered. https://www.gadgets360.com/mobiles/guide/best-android-phones-under-25000-mobile-buying-guide-3700172
  4. Wndows 11 has witnessed the debut of a much-anticipated feature for File Explorer, namely an integrated photo gallery. Build 23435 for the Dev channel introduces this new piece of functionality, which represents a large piece in a bigger puzzle Microsoft is busy solving – that of how to make File Explorer better with a full revamp. File Explorer is the very folders you open on the desktop, no doubt on a daily basis, so it’s very much a core part of the Windows 11 interface. And in this case, the addition of a Gallery gives you an easy way to browse through your photos, right there when using File Explorer. As Microsoft points out in the blog post(opens in new tab) for build 23435, the Gallery takes the same form as the ‘All Photos’ view in the Photos app. It’s possible to decide which images get included in the new Gallery via a dropdown menu that lets you add folders. Also, Gallery will show up in the ‘file picker dialog’, which is the panel that pops up to choose a file, for example, when you’re attaching something to an email (so if that something is a pic, you can browse via the Gallery). Analysis: gauging the reaction to Gallery This is a major addition to File Explorer, but not one that’s a surprise. Mainly because we’ve seen the File Explorer photo gallery already, thanks to intrepid Windows 11 testers who’ve dug under the hood of the OS. In short, Gallery has been present in preview builds for some time, and has previously been enabled using configuration tools, so we’ve already had a couple of decent peeks at the new Windows 11 feature. Still, it’s great to see Gallery up and rocking in its full form, finally, and to discover more about the nuances of how it works. Albeit there’s a caveat here – not all Windows 11 testers will see this right now, as Microsoft is taking it slowly with the Gallery rollout. The software giant notes that it will monitor feedback on the feature to “see how it lands before pushing it out to everyone”, and that currently, we’re at the start of the rollout. So, reading between the lines, you might have to get rather lucky to see the photo gallery in File Explorer with build 23435, but we’d imagine it’ll be coming to a good deal more testers pretty soon. Speaking of expected timelines, when might Microsoft’s big overhaul of File Explorer, complete with Gallery, actually arrive in the release version of Windows 11? That’s still a good way off, and we’re likely looking at the big annual update for Windows 11 later in 2023 (known as 23H2) https://www.techradar.com/news/microsoft-has-big-changes-in-the-works-for-windows-11-and-one-just-arrived

  7. Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion continues Square Enix’s trend of creating mind-meltingly long and stupid titles for their remakes, remasters and reimaginings of all things Final Fantasy VII, with this title being the second of the three. A remaster of the 2007 (2008 outside of Japan) PlayStation Portable game, what I’ll from now on refer to as Crisis Core Reunion aims to create a solid, modern version of the game for every platform under the sun, no doubt due to Final Fantasy VII’s increased relevance thanks to Square Enix’s ongoing remake series of the title. By that metric, the company certainly succeeded. Crisis Core Reunion takes what used to be confined to the old, unpo[CENSORED]r handheld device and not only ports it to every platform you could hope for, but also updates the graphics considerably from their original grainy aspect ratio. Assuredly a remaster and not a remake, there are no major (or even minor, from what I can tell) changes to the game’s script or scenarios, unlike 2020’s Final Fantasy VII Remake, which essentially creates a new timeline for the series to follow. As I never owned a PSP and I’m a new fan of Final Fantasy VII thanks to the remake, I never experienced Crisis Core when it originally came out. As such, I’m judging a portable game from 2007 by the standards of playing a console game in 2022. Given the circumstances, Crisis Core Reunion stands on its own pretty well. But judged by its own merits in the present day, the game fares less favorably. The game stars Zack Fair (Caleb Pierce), a young and overly energetic member of the nefarious Shinra’s SOLDIER program, where the strongest members of the company do its bidding. Although Shinra is definitely led by Bad Guys, the blame is shielded from Zack as he just tries to do his best without knowing the shady stuff his bosses are up to. There are two parts of Crisis Core’s story. The first part is the stuff with the cast of Final Fantasy VII, including Zack hanging out and completing missions with Aerith (Briana White), Cloud (Cody Christian) and a pre-evil Sephiroth (Tyler Hoechlin), among others. Although “completing missions” with Aerith means doing a long quest in order to build the dinkiest little flower wagon whereas with Cloud, Sephiroth and the gang it means fighting enemies, it’s all mostly interesting stuff that builds out these beloved characters’ backstories and motivations prior to the events of Final Fantasy VII. The second part, which takes up a larger percentage of the game than I’d have liked, deals with characters that seem new to me, especially the game’s main antagonists, Angeal (Bill Millsap) and Genesis (Shaun Conde). Both sprout single giant wings out of their backs, which of course means they’re evil now and they have to fight Zack and the rest of Shinra (even though Shinra is also evil… look, it’s confusing). I feel like some of this story might have made more sense had I played through the original Final Fantasy VII, but as is, there was a lot of stuff that just flew right over my head and devolved into a lot of nonsense. The gameplay is comparatively simple, feeling a lot like the combat from Final Fantasy VII Remake even though Crisis Core obviously came first. There isn’t the cool mechanic from the remake where you can stop time to choose from a series of moves, but you’re still able to attack and dodge in real time while choosing from various spells and special moves you can upgrade and swap out with materia as time goes on. It didn’t blow me away, but combat was mostly unchallenging yet engaging throughout, aside from one point where I had to grind out a few side quest missions to progress. I call it grinding because that’s really what the side quests feel like. There’s little to no story to contextualize why you’re doing what you’re doing. You just fight a bunch of enemies in a separate liminal space until they’re all gone. There are a lot of these quests, but they’re all optional and aside from that one point, I never felt underleveled from not doing them. I was also let down by the game’s ending, which I had heard from many was the best part of the game. After heading in one direction for hours, the game’s final few minutes shifts somewhere entirely different. I won’t spoil what happens, but it’s almost entirely cutscenes and seems like an abrupt ending that didn’t hit me emotionally in the way I think it was intended to. Overall, I enjoyed Crisis Core Reunion’s 10-ish-hour story well enough, and I’m grateful to know more about Zack before his anticipated reappearance in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Unfortunately, the game’s age shows, with the random encounters and constricted corridors designed for a handheld released in 2004 not holding up as well on modern platforms in 2022. Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII Reunion was developed by Tose and Square Enix and published by Square Enix. Our review is based on the PlayStation 5 version. It is also available for the Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. https://www.pastemagazine.com/games/crisis-core-final-fantasy-vii-reunion-review/
  8. There are thousands of games for the Nintendo Switch and among them, there are many excellent racing titles. But, of course, when we talk about Switch racing games, there's a certain one that comes to mind, right? Yes, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is simply excellent. Since its release, it has sold over 40 million copies, and it's by far the best-selling title on the Nintendo Switch. And for good reason. Everything about it, from the presentation to the performance, is on another level when compared to other games. Anyway, here's the problem. Whenever a racing game is released on the Switch, it will almost always be compared to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and most likely, it won't be as good. So, even if we are talking about an otherwise fantastic competitor, if it's not as good as Mario Kart, then there's no hype about it, and many people are going to simply ignore it. But not us! So, here you'll find a list of the top 20 best Switch racing games for your favourite console. There are all sorts of racing games. Arcades, simulators, karts, motorcycles, bikes, you name it! We've tried to make our list as diverse as possible, so hopefully everyone can find a title they like. Pocket Gamer's list of the "Top 20 best Switch racing games in 2023" is brought to you by Hot Lap League, Ultimate Studio's arcade racing game that pits you against the clock in a race against time. As you speed across the hot asphalt with more than 150 tracks to put your drifting prowess to the test, you can try and beat your own time to race your way to the top. Hot Lap League features a wide variety of sleek vehicle models you can customise to your liking, along with unique tracks where you can perfect your racing strategies when taking part in the game’s host of daily challenges and weekend Pro Cups to nab those sweet, sweet medals and climb the leaderboards. On top of all that, the Deluxe Edition offers stunning premium car models that have already been unlocked - all you need to do is feel the hum of the engine and pick the one that suits your fancy with every new race. If you're keen on refining techniques to master some of the most wild and fun arcade style tracks available in any racing game right now, as well as joining one of the most competitive communities where invitational events await the highest ranked players, then you should give Hot Lap League a go on Switch. https://www.pocketgamer.com/switch/best-racing-games/
  9. For just a moment, Avowed looks like any other fantasy RPG—swords and shields, shiny armor and helmets with those funny little nose guards. Then the dual-wielded flintlock pistols show up. And the fungus-infected bear. And the Willy Wonka-ass mushrooms. Obsidian was once the RPG studio that played in other developers' sandboxes, but with Avowed it's getting to paint the world it created for Pillars of Eternity on a far bigger canvas—one in which you're, well, kind of the asshole. Okay okay, that's not quite fair—you don't have to be an asshole. But you do have to be an outsider, Avowed director Carrie Patel told me in an exclusive interview ahead of Avowed's reveal on Sunday. As the game begins, your character arrives in a remote corner of the world of Eora called the Living Lands as an envoy of the Aedyr Empire, where you've been sent to investigate a mysterious plague. "Not everybody in the Living Lands is super thrilled to have an imperial presence in this far-flung land," she said. "So adventure ensues." Sponsored Links If You Need To Spend Time On Your Computer, You Have To Play This Game. No Install Elvenar It's been a long three years since Avowed first appeared during a Microsoft livestream, promising a first-person RPG from Obsidian Entertainment. Since then Obsidian has released Grounded, an ant-scale survival game, and Pentiment, a 16th century murder mystery. Both were hits, but it's about damn time for another RPG, and Avowed's trailer says 2024 is the year. Its first appearance was just CG hinting at a game, but this time we've seen the real thing, and Obsidian was ready to talk about it. RECOMMENDED VIDEOS FOR YOU... CEO Feargus Urquhart told me that in scope Avowed is more akin to Obsidian's past RPGs like The Outer Worlds in size than it is a sprawling open world a la Skyrim, though that was actually Obsidian's initial pitch. When the developers sat down and focused on what Obsidian does best—stories and companions, in particular—the more compact scale came naturally. "As someone who's come through development as a narrative designer, companions are a huge part of the experience and draw for me both as a player and as a developer," Carrie Patel said. "One thing we wanted to do with Avowed was make sure the companions felt really integral to the story. In some games they're optionally recruitable, but in Avowed they're deeply tied to the story, tied to your party… we really wanted to create this sense that you're in this big wild frontier, you're going on this adventure of discovery, and you have this small but tight knit crew with you. The sense you're adventuring through the wilds together, sharing in the discovery and the danger. These people are just as much a part of your story as the larger events that you're getting in the middle of." Avowed (Image credit: Obsidian Entertainment) The way you interact with other characters in Avowed will be similar to The Outer Worlds, where your dialogue options reflect the tone you want to want to use. "We try to hit a sweet spot when we're writing dialogue options where we invest enough personality for those options to be fun and interesting, but also leave enough space around them so that the player can really invest whatever headcanon they built for their character into that option," she said. Patel wouldn't spill much about Avowed's story, but did give me some of the basics on what form of RPG to expect from Avowed: You have an established role as the imperial envoy, but your "personality, appearance, and philosophy and vibe you bring to that role is up to you as a player to decide" You can play as a human or an elf, but not other races It's purely singleplayer—no co-op The world is lightly systemic: think water and lightning interactions, but not the ol' bucket-on-the-head trick You'll have two companions with you at a time, with their own combat specialties and, of course, personalities There are several ability trees to progress through, and you won't be locked to a particular class or playstyle You will level up, but the focus is on unlocking abilities rather than putting points into stats to grow stronger Early in development, when Obsidian decided to prioritize a story "more focused on depth than breadth," the first-person combat ended up benefitting, too. Patel said that it was an example of a piece of Avowed that was surprisingly fun in their first vertical slice, a time when the team has to decide on what to commit more resources to and what to scale back on. Combat became a key focus, which should be music to the ears of every Elder Scrolls player who's always found the sword-swinging a bit wimpy. "Our combat has come along really, really well, and the bones have been there since the beginning," she said. Patel cited a lot of time spent tuning the feel of swinging a sword vs. a mace vs. an axe to make combat feel right, but the options available to players seem like the more significant element at play here. You're free to dual-wield weapons, wield both magic and melee simultaneously, and as in Pillars of Eternity, there are some old timey guns available. When I brought up how bored I am of game loot with imperceptible stat differences from one sword to another, she said that's been on their mind, too. Avowed (Image credit: Obsidian Entertainment) "The way we've tried to approach that is erring on the side of fewer but meaningful upgrades. If you're upgrading your weapon from one tier to the next, you should feel the difference. If it's a small number change next to your item name, that's not going to feel as meaningful as going through an upgrade process, trying your weapon again and realizing it's doing a lot more damage. Fewer but more meaningful upgrade tiers." From today's trailer, magic looks like it could be the bit of Avowed that really gives it its own fantasy flair. There's some excellent hand animation at work when the envoy draws runes in the air to conjure a fireball and later lifts a pulsing void skyward, sending a pile of guards orbiting weightlessly around it. I want a whole lot more of that, and I'm excited that I can mix magic with melee without being railroaded into a class. We've seen only two minutes of Avowed, and I imagine Microsoft and Obsidian won't be talking about it too much more until Starfield is done with the spotlight. Once we do, I expect Obsidian's characters to start getting all the attention. When I asked Patel what she hadn't been able to do with the isometric Pillars RPGs that she's excited to do in Avowed, she brought it back to the companions without hesitating. Avowed (Image credit: Obsidian Entertainment) "In most of our games companions have been optional, which I think offers a wonderful degree of choice to players, but it means there's a limit to how deeply you can tie them into the core story. With Avowed we decided companions are going to be core. They're going to be part of the experience. And that means we can invest so much more in them and tie them much more closely, and personally, to the events and the parts of the world the player is encountering." And can they die? This time there was a pause. "You'll have to see," Patel said. Until 2024, then. https://www.pcgamer.com/avowed-rpg-obsidian-preview-magic-interview/
  10. Satelite image indicating the intensity and location of Cyclone Biparjoy. — Zoom Earth As many as 50,000 people will be evacuated from the villages in District Badin under the Sindh government's evacuation plan to avoid any loss in the wake of tropical cyclone Biparjoy which is rapidly closing in. Currently, the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS) lies about 600 kilometres south of Karachi, 580km south of Thatta, and 710km southeast of Ormara, after moving further northward during the last 12 hours. "The ESCS Biparjoy is most likely to track further Northward until 14 June morning, then recurve Northeastward and cross between Keti Bandar (Southeast Sindh) and Indian Gujarat coast on 15 June afternoon as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS)," Pakistan Meteorological Department's latest update on the storm stated. Keeping in view the growing threat, the government had decided to evacuate the residential areas and other human settlements near the coast of Sindh as the risk of tropical cyclone Biparjoy present in the Arabian Sea escalates. The evacuation drive began from the coastal areas of Badin, under which at least 2,000 people from the island of Shah Bandar were shifted to safe places. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah — along with Local Bodies Minister Nasir Shah, Sindh Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput — visited Shah Bandar area of the district. After the visit, the chief minister headed a meeting to review arrangements for mitigating the impact of Biparjoy in the coastal belt at 31 Creek Conference Room in Sujawal. While briefing the CM on the evacuation work, the Hyderabad commissioner said the evacuation began from Badin's zero-point village Bhagra Memon. He said 50,000 people would be evacuated from the villages of Shah Bandar, Jati, and Keti Bandar. The chief minister was informed that Biparjoy will hit the coast of Sindh on June 15, but its intensity will subside by June 17 to 18. However, the seawater will surge as the wavelength will rise up to 4 to 5 metres when the storm hits, he added. The decision to evacuate areas was taken on Sunday in a meeting chaired by Karachi Commissioner Iqbal Memon, where the participants discussed the preemptive measures regarding the cyclonic storm. The meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, alongside other relevant officials. The authorities concerned have been directed to implement the evacuation plan in coordination with the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) by tomorrow (June 13), when the storm is likely to hit the coast. Baba Bhit, Mubarak Village, Ibrahim Hydri Village, harbour, and other low-lying areas and villages along the coastal belt are included in the evacuation plan. The meeting directed the Keamari, Malir, South, and Korangi deputy commissioners to ensure that all the residents of the said areas have been evacuated by the deadline, and shifted to safe places or relief camps set up for the facilitation of evacuees. Other key decisions Moreover, directives for the evacuation from "dangerous buildings" have also been issued. The Sindh Building Control Authority and the deputy commissioners will take "necessary action with regard to the dangerous buildings, building with a weak glass panels, scaffolding at around under construction buildings [...]". The cranes and other construction machinery installed anywhere in the areas under threat will also be removed. The evacuees will be provided will all facilities during their stay in the relief camps. Other key decisions taken in the meeting were the implementation of Section 144 of the CrPC, removal of hoardings and signboards, solar panels, installation of de-watering pumps in the low lying areas and choking points, prevention of electrocution and falling of electricity poles and devising of a contingency plan. During the meeting, the commissioner alerted all city departments to deal with the threat of Cyclone Biparjoy. He ordered all the relevant bodies to complete their preparations to deal with the aftermath of the cyclone. Directives to declare high alert in all major city hospitals and establishment of control rooms had also been given. Biparjoy may hit Pakistan's coast by June 15 Cyclone Biparjoy is likely to hit the coastal belt of southeast Sindh between Pakistan/Rann of Kutch-Indian Gujarat coasts by June 15 afternoon as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS), officials said on Sunday evening. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said that the cyclone could cause strong winds, torrential rains, and floods in coastal areas of the province. The NDMA directed the authorities concerned to run an awareness campaign in the local language to inform residents of the coastal areas of weather conditions and advise them against visiting the shorelines. “Fishermen should avoid boating in the open sea. Follow and cooperate with local authorities in emergency situation,” it added. https://www.thenews.com.pk/latest/1079700-sindh-to-evacuate-50000-as-cyclone-biparjoy-600km-away-from-karachi
  11. A mysterious whale, once suspected of being a Russian "spy", has been sighted again in recent days. Known locally as the Hvaldimir, the mammal was first seen swimming near Norway in 2019. It has now been spotted in Swedish waters. He still has a harness that was allegedly fitted to him in Russia. After spending years slowly moving south from the northern tip of Norway, the whale has accelerated its movements out of Norwegian waters in recent months, according to OneWhale, an organization that monitors its movement. The reason behind his sudden trip south was unclear, but there are a couple of possibilities. The new sighting A OneWhale marine biologist, Sebastian Strand, noted that there could be a number of reasons for the recent change in the whale's movements. "We don't know why it has accelerated so much at this point," especially as it is moving "very rapidly out of its natural environment," Strand told AFP. Strand considers that there may be two possible explanations for his change in behaviour. One of them is the high levels of hormones, which could be "driving her to find a partner." Another could be related to "loneliness", he added: "Belugas are a very social species, it could be that it is looking for other belugas." These mammals tend to live in the icy waters of the Arctic, around Greenland, Russia, Alaska, and northern Norway, with some migrating during the summer. Is he a spy? The beluga is domesticated and first approached Norwegian ships near Ingoya Island four years ago. The island is 415 km from Murmansk, where the Russian Northern Fleet is based. She was discovered wearing a harness equipped with a GoPro camera mount and an inscription that read "Team St. Petersburg." The find prompted an investigation by Norwegian intelligence services, which told the BBC that it was likely she had been trained by the Russian military. Since then, the whale has come to be known locally as Hvaldimir, a pun between the Norwegian term for whale, hval, and the name of Russian President Vladimir Putin. In Moscow they have never officially responded to the claim that Hvaldimir was trained by the Russian army. Previously, Russia has denied the existence of any program that seeks to train marine mammals as spies. "If we were using this animal to spy, do you really think we would put a phone on it with the message 'Please call this number?'" a Russian reserve colonel, Viktor Baranets, quipped in 2019.
