Sapphire added a new Radeon RX 7900 XT, one of the best graphics cards, to the company's lineup. The Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L arrives with a somewhat revamped exterior and cooling system. The Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L features a similar design to the Radeon RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ Vapor-X available in the U.S. market. However, there are some significant changes with the former. The Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L lacks the Vapor-X moniker, meaning the graphics card doesn't leverage Sapphire's vapor chamber to cool the GPU and memory. Instead, the Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L utilizes a standard copper base plate. As a result, it doesn't provide the same thermal performance, but it's cheaper, so Sapphire can reduce the overall product cost. The different cooling system doesn't affect the dimensions of the Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L. It's still a 3.5-slot monster that measures 320 mm long, just like the flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ Vapor-X Sapphire has also cut some corners with the RGB design. For example, the Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L only has one RGB strip on the shroud, whereas the Radeon RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ Vapor-X has two. However, it doesn't affect the appeal of the graphics card since the Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L still looks very attractive, even without the extra RGB lighting. The Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L has the same 2,450 MHz boost clock speed as the Pulse Radeon RX 7900 XT. The new cut-down variant offers marginally lower performance than the Radeon RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ Vapor-X. The margin isn't that significant, though, since the Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L only has a 4% lower boost clock than the Radeon RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ Vapor-X. The variation in the cooler and clock speeds are the only aspects that separate the Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L from Sapphire's other models. The graphics card still depends on three 8-pin PCIe power connectors for external power and offers three DisplayPort 2.1 outputs and one HDMI 2.1 port for connecting displays. Sapphire's cost-cutting measures allow the vendor to bring the Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L's pricing down to the $899 MSRP. Chinese news outlet Expreview spotted the Radeon RX 7900 XT 20G Ultra Platinum L for $898.88 on JD.com. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX Nitro+ Vapor-X sells for $970.23 in China. That's a $71.35 difference, which essentially tells us that it's what the extra RGB strip and vapor chamber cost. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/sapphire-releases-cheaper-slower-rx-7900-xt-without-vapor-chamber

Fast X is an overwhelming film with a lot of moving parts. You've got four almost entirely separate story threads running through the film: Dom on his own investigating new baddie Dante Reyes, Tej, Roman, Han and Ramsey trying to stay off the grid, Dom's brother Jakob and son Little Brian having a road trip, and Letty and Cipher having to team up to escape a blacksite prison in Antarctica. That last thread is an odd one. It doesn't take up much of the movie--it's only three or four scenes, which are scattered throughout the movie in a way that feels almost random since they have no bearing on anything else that's happening. But more interesting than this thread itself is what it might be signaling about Cipher's future. Could they be setting Cipher up to join the family? Yes, they certainly could be. I'm not sure that they are doing that, but they've certainly put themselves in the position to do so. I'm not sure that's the best idea, though. The story is already a huge mess in narrative terms, and how they handle Cipher could also irrevocably muddy the franchise's core themes, too. Let's break it down. In The Fate of the Furious, Cipher came in like a thousand wrecking balls. Charlize Theron's villain character immediately positioned herself as the Fast & Furious franchise's apparently unredeemable main villain. She was a clear thematic contrast with Dominic Toretto, the man who can't stop turning enemies into family, and she was intent on bending him to her will. And so she held his ex-girlfriend Elena and their young son hostage, and forced him to fight against everyone else he loves. That film established Cipher's importance to the franchise pretty quickly, revealing that the villains from the previous two movies, Owen Shaw and Mose Jakande, had secretly been working for her. By extension, that probably also places Arturo Braga from the fourth film under her umbrella to some degree, perhaps indirectly through Shaw. The phantom menace had emerged. And then midway through F8, Cipher solidified her evilness with a pretty severe response to Dom not 100% adhering to orders during the mission in New York: She stared Dom right in the eyes and held his son in her arms while her goon executed Elena. This one felt pretty final--we get to watch Dom stare at her well-lit corpse for a while. It's hard to figure how this could have been faked, or why. So: Elena is dead, because Cipher murdered her. What's Cipher's plan? Global domination. Total chaos. Bad news on the largest scale this franchise has attempted. The Nightshade device from Fast & Furious 6 could have rendered any nation in the world utterly defenseless. The God's Eye from Furious 7 is a global surveillance algorithm that can find anyone, anywhere. In F8 she tries to fire off a nuke that would start a war. In F9 she was seeking control of Project Aries, which would allow her to hack any computer system on Earth. These are all individually very, very bad, but Cipher truly was playing for the whole shebang by going after all of them. And finally, just to drive the point all the way home, Cipher does not care about anyone but herself. She has no friends or family and doesn't want them. To her, all other people--all other people--are just tools to be used to serve her ends. Cipher exists to be Dom's antithesis. Or she did, anyway. It's hard to tell what her deal is after Fast X, a movie that seems intent on restarting Cipher's arc from scratch--but with Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes replacing her as the main series villain. Warning: The remainder of this article contains many spoilers for Fast X. After a lengthy flashback sequence that adds Dante to the climactic heist from Fast Five, Dante announces himself in the present by invading Cipher's new secret base. He reveals that he's pulled the same trick on her that she pulled on Dom in F8--but since Cipher doesn't have any loved ones, Dante instead kidnapped the families of every single member of her team, and turned them all against her so he can steal the God's Eye surveillance tech. He succeeds, and tells her men to kill her as he walks out the door. Cipher fights her way out, then literally walks to Dom's house to tell him about Dante. And then she's sent to a blacksite prison in Antarctica. She spends the entire rest of the movie there, ultimately working with Letty to escape. While they never reconnect with any other current main cast members during this movie, someone does show up in a submarine to pick them up right at the very end: Gisele, who we thought died at the end of Fast & Furious 6. All of this has left Cipher in an ambiguous spot. Dante is the new main bad guy. Cipher's team-up with Letty was apparently arranged by Tess (Brie Larson), who is portrayed as unambiguously good throughout Fast X, and it's likely that Gisele was working for Tess. We have no idea what Cipher knows or what her relationship is with Tess or Gisele, or if she even knows them personally already. Every time Cipher appeared on screen in Fast X, alarm bells went off in my head. Is this the start of a redemption arc? Are we really just abandoning her story and doing Dante's story instead? Or are we gearing up for a three-way battle between Dom, Dante, and Cipher? It's impossible to know. Fast X's cliffhanger is quite abrupt. It's the sort of ending you'd expect when they shoot two movies back to back like the Matrix or Pirates of the Caribbean sequels, where you know they've already locked in the overall plot. But this isn't one of those situations--the next movie isn't close to starting production and is still years away from release. There's a good chance they still don't completely know where they're going with this, and with the WGA on strike it might still be a while before they do. It's frustrating either way, and a sign of a surprising bit of rot at the center of the franchise. The plots of the Fast & Furious movies have gotten more complicated than they need to be, while at the same time rarely committing to any threads in the long term. Take Han, for example, who was brought back from the dead in the last movie with a lengthy story about how he had to fake his own death to save some girl's life and essentially raise her as his daughter. That girl is neither seen nor mentioned in Fast X. Even worse, look at Jakob. This character, Dom's secret brother played by John Cena, was created for F9, complete with lengthy flashback plot to explain his existence and why nobody had ever mentioned him before. And now, in Fast X, he gets no screen time with any of the major cast members and is killed off (for now) during the big chase at the end. They simply punted on that character. If that's how they treat Dom's brother, then what are they doing with Cipher? Judging by the threads they've aborted just from the last movie, it's hard not to think she's also being pivoted in some significant way. I'm not actually opposed to a redemption arc for Cipher, to be clear. I just worry they'll handle it clumsily. Say, for example, by revealing that Elena is still alive and thus letting Cipher off the hook for her death--it's not a redemption arc if you're just revealing that they didn't need to be redeemed. So that explanation would be both unsatisfying and nonsensical, and another example of the franchise's recent inability to commit to its stories. But what would be a satisfying arc for Cipher? A three-way fight would probably be one of the few options that would work with the current state of things. Dante is still alive and will obviously continue to be a problem, but that wouldn't preclude Cipher from also going ham on everybody. And this would be a decent thematic trinity--you've got the good and wholesome family man in Dom, the warped and messed up family man in Dante, and the woman who just hates families (Cipher). That's a good group to pit against each other. It's not the only good path to take, but it's one that could work. And if they want to redeem Cipher the normal way, by actually making her earn it, she'll need to do something big. Like "sacrifice yourself to save others" kind of big. And that would require a lot more character development to make it work, since she's yet to be characterized as anything but a terrible person in these movies. But after Fast X, it's hard to have faith in director Louis Leterrier and Vin Diesel and the other creative decision-makers on this thing to figure the Cipher situation out in a satisfying way. While Fast X had to have been immensely challenging under the circumstances--with longtime franchise director Justin Lin exiting a week into filming and Leterrier taking his place and doing rewrites on the fly--the finished film is so incoherent it barely tracks from scene to scene. But I've always liked Leterrier as a director, and things may go very differently when he's on the project from the beginning like he will be on Fast X-2. This franchise has been a big part of my life for the past two decades, and so I'm hoping for the best as it comes to an end. I'm just not expecting it. https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fast-x-we-really-need-talk-about-whats-going-on-with-cipher/1100-6514389/

During today's NetEase Connect 2023 showcase, it was announced that Justice Mobile will arrive for iOS and Android on June 30th. It's a mobile adaptation of the MMORPG of the same name, and this new adaption will retain most of the systems and functions as its PC counterpart, specifically referencing the ability to fly using the lightness skill and make friends with NPCs. Developer Ting Yu stated that the game aims to break free of the usual clichés found in other MMOs. Part of the way the team is trying to do this is through AI-powered NPCs. Through this, players can continue speaking with these characters long after they would be able to in other games. It's not just conversations this will impact, though. According to NetEase, AI could create an infinite number of missions for players to complete. Although, I'm interested to see how that turns out, since the sceptical side of me wonders how quickly those missions would start to feel repetitive. Outside of the talk of AI, which seems impossible to escape at the moment, NetEase also showed a trailer that provided us with a taste of what to expect from the game. There were a variety of beautiful vistas ranging from snow-covered forests to quaint lakeside villages. It also gave a glimpse of characters we can expect to see, alongside a tease of the abilities each possesses. Justice Mobile is described as a martial arts adventure, so there's plenty of that on display alongside more magical skills. One character is shown attacking another with what I can only assume is lethal and giant flower petals. Elsewhere, others utilise the elements by infusing them with their swords before flying into battle. Justice Mobile will arrive on the App Store and Google Play on June 30th. https://www.pocketgamer.com/justice-mobile/ios-android-launch-june/

After a look at some screenshots earlier this week, Nightdive Studios has dropped a proper trailer for System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition. The upcoming re-release of the classic immersive sim shooter will overhaul it to look a lot better than it currently does—it currently looks bad, for the record—but it's not a full remake like Nightdive's upcoming System Shock. That game was delayed until the end of this month, and will come out on the 30th. Nightdive has said it would eventually like to do a remake of System Shock 2, but that'll probably come down to how well the remake of System Shock sells. For now, however, you'll be able to continue your adventures from that remake into the enhanced edition, which collects all the many, many graphical and performance improvements from nigh-on 25 years of modders and such digging into the code. "System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition was created with the goal of reverse engineering the original code to port SS2 to the KEX Engine and made available on next generation consoles for the first time," said Nightdive CEO Stephen Kick. "Nightdive has also partnered with the systemshock.org community to integrate all the best mods and updates. All cinematics, textures, characters and weapon models have been updated." Nightdive also says that "the Co-Op Multiplayer has been overhauled to create a seamless experience." Co-op was originally added to System Shock 2 post-launch, and was never really in great working order, but Nightdive has tweaked it—perhaps we'll finally be able to see what it's like to evade Shodan aboard the Von Braun with a friend. It's no lie to say that System Shock was a game that changed PC games forever. Check out this feature, pulled from the PC Gamer archives of ye olde 2007, that explains why and how the revolutionary game built atmosphere in a way quite unlike anything else. https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-the-first-trailer-for-system-shock-2-enhanced-edition/

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chairs a review meeting on law and order situation in Lahore on May 21. — PID Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday cleared the air about the legal process of trials against the May 9 miscreants by announcing that the vandals involved in attacks on army installations and civil properties during violent protests would be tried in military courts and anti-terrorism courts (ATCs), respectively. The violent protests were triggered almost across the country after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9 which led to the deaths of at least 10 people and injured several others, prompting the authorities to arrest thousands of PTI workers. During the protests, the miscreants attacked the civil and military installations including – Corps Commander's House (Jinnah House) in Lahore Cantt and the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The military called May 9 "Black Day" and has decided to try the protesters under the Army Act, with Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir saying that the legal process in this regard has already begun. Chairing a meeting on the law and order situation in Lahore today, PM Shehbaz said everyone who is involved in the incidents of May 9 will be dealt with iron hand. He added that the day will always be remembered as a “black day” in the history of Pakistan. He went on to say that the rioters "turned into enemies of the country" and carried out the attack on the GHQ. He said that the miscreants also burned Jinnah House and public properties on the same day. PM Shehbaz said that those who are involved in attacking the military installations will also be brought to book. Berating Khan, the incumbent prime minister said: “May 9 was the darkest day in the history of Pakistan when PTI Chairman Imran Khan Niazi led miscreants torched Quaid’s (Corps Commander's) House in Lahore like the terrorists had set on fire Quaid’s Residency in Ziarat during 2013.” He added that the PTI chief and his followers stoked terrorism and violence that amounted to anti-state acts. They caused damage to such a huge extent that even the enemies of Pakistan could not do it in the last 75 years, he added. “Such agonising incidents will continue to haunt the nation.” Seeking progress on the legal proceedings against the culprits, he reiterated that during previous meetings, it was decided that anyone involved in the incidents of planning, instigating, sloganeering and vandalism would not escape the iron claws of law. ‘Attack on GHQ included in India's objectives’ Earlier today, Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Asif said that the attack on the GHQ during the May 9 violent protests was included in India's anti-Pakistan objectives. "Pakistan's existence was attacked on May 9. A person [Imran Khan] made this attack just for the sake of his power," Asif said while addressing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) rally taken out to express solidarity with the armed forces, in Sialkot. He regretted how the families and heirs of the martyred would have felt when a group of vandals attacked the sacred monuments. "I never doubt anyone's loyalty but I doubt the intentions of those who led the attacks on May 9." Moreover, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal deemed the May 9 vandalism on military installations by the PTI workers as "9/11-type" attacks on the national interests of the country. In an exclusive interview with APP today, the federal minister lamented over the regrettable act by the party's workers who barged into and destroyed several symbols of Pakistan's pride including the Jinnah House, Yadgar-e-Shuhada, fighter jets of the famous 1965 war and the Chagai mountain model. https://www.thenews.com.pk/latest/1072578-those-who-attacked-army-installations-to-face-military-court-others-atc-pm

a Ya the panda arrived in the U.S. 20 years ago as a fluffy gesture of China's friendship with America. But she returned home Thursday the subject of online nationalistic fervor. News of her touching down in Shanghai was welcomed by Chinese social media users and some animal welfare activists who have been vocal in their concerns about Ya Ya’s care and condition at the Memphis Zoo in Tennessee, as well as her symbolic role in world affairs. The zoo has denied mistreating the 190-pound panda, but her return trip to China marked the culmination of an intense online campaign that has mirrored the growing tensions between Washington and Beijing. Ya Ya’s trip was closely followed online, and people shared screenshots tracking the animal’s flight path into Shanghai. Vanessa Mai, a 22-year-old English student from Guangdong who told NBC News she had signed up to a campaign to save Ya Ya, said the panda was “getting a lot of exposure now and she will definitely be better off in China.” Some animal welfare groups have questioned her condition and complained that her fur looks mangy and she looks thin. They have also blamed the zoo for the death in February of Ya Ya’s mate, Le Le — both contentions denied by the zoo as well as Chinese officials. An image from Chinese broadcaster Phoenix News was also po[CENSORED]r among Chinese social media users. It shows the bear relieving herself before the trip — and leaving muck as an apparent gift for keepers. For decades, China deployed the iconic black-and-white animals in the service of so-called panda diplomacy. But this four-legged soft-power play by Beijing does not come free for recipient nations. “They rent pandas for $1 million a year, usually on 10-year contracts,” said Stanley Rosen, a professor of political science and international relations at the University of Southern California’s U.S.-China Institute. “If a cub is born, that’s another $400,000 given back to China, all of which is put into conservation efforts.” Despite the effort and money that keeping Ya Ya cost the zoo, and assurances from Chinese officials that she was in fact being treated properly, some Chinese social media users and animal rights groups around the world continued to raise concerns about her welfare. “Refuse the meaningless panda diplomacy,” one person wrote on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, where over 400 million users have responded to the #Yaya topic. “Don’t let them be uprooted from their homeland again,” another wrote. Even the hawkish state-run Global Times tabloid, the mouthpiece of the ruling Communist Party, has weighed in — linking the panda to Chinese-American relations, which have hit a low point amid tensions over Taiwan, the U.S. downing of a Chinese surveillance balloon and Beijing's growing assertiveness internationally. “If this had not happened during a period when Washington is intensifying its containment and suppression of China, this matter would not have caused such a stir,” it said in an editorial. “Whether it’s a corn-milling plant, a crane, or an unidentified flying object, anything with a ‘China’ tag could be seen as a ‘threat’ by the U.S.” Ya Ya, who is 22, arrived in Tennessee on loan from China in 2003, which China and the U.S. maintained much more cordial relations. Aiways is unusual in that, unlike any other Chinese EV manufacturer, it has chosen to establish itself in export markets before building a fundamental sales base and widespread recognition at home. It was founded only six years ago yet is already represented in 15 markets. Up until now, the Shangrao-based firm’s volumes have been fairly limited. But with the launch of the U6, it is looking to build on its existing operations and enter more markets, including the UK. There’s pedigree in the styling of this notchback SUV. It was overseen by Ken Okuyama, the ex-Pininfarina chief who is credited with celebrated cars including the Ferrari Enzo, plus some of Japan’s bullet trains. As such, the U6 has an eye-catching look as well as a class-leading drag coefficient of 0.25. Among the distinguishing elements is what Aiways describes as a shark nose, with a blanked-off leading edge, thin horizontal LED daytime-running lights and vertically stacked headlights, all housed within a heavily structured bumper with a prominent splitter and small fins low on each side. The U6 is 4800mm long, 1880mm wide and 1640mm tall, making it a touch larger in all directions than the Volkswagen ID 5, with a 29mm-longer wheelbase to suit. The U6 has a uniquely styled five-seat interior featuring more tactile and higher-grade materials than those in the smaller, traditionally shaped U5. There is some hard plastic but mostly lower down, below the driver’s line of sight. Most surfaces reflect a more mature and upmarket positioning than for Aiways’ original model. The basis for the U6 is a further developed version of Aiways’ More Adaptable Structure, as used by the Aiways U5. This steel and aluminium platform houses a 63.3kWh pack of lithium ion cells supplied by Chinese battery giant CATL and fitted within a flat floor. It can take rapid-charging rates of up to 90kW, which is some way off the pace now.The material mix for the platform is crucial in providing the U6 with a surprisingly low weight of 1790kg. Power comes from a single synchronous motor, mounted at the front. Developed and produced in-house by Aiways, it delivers 13bhp and 4lb ft of torque more than the motor used by the U5, at 215bhp and 232lb ft. Drive is transferred to the front axle via single-speed gearbox. There’s no physical start button inside; as in the U5, a press of the brake pedal primes the electrics and gets the car ready to go. Step-off is quite lively, and the U6 is brisk enough to prove entertaining when you want it to be, with hot-hatchback-typical levels of performance. Gunning it from 0-62mph takes 6.9sec. Power delivery is smooth and linear. There’s noticeably better throttle sensitivity and calibration than that of the earlier examples of the U5. A series of regenerative braking modes provide varying properties, including one-pedal driving with strong deceleration under periods of trailing throttle. Refinement is also good. There’s a faint whine from the motor under heavy throttle loads and some tyre noise on coarse-surfaced roads, but overall the U6 is a quiet and relaxed car to drive. The chassis tuning of the U6 was largely carried out in Europe, in partnership with Prodrive, the British outfit famed for running race and rally icons for BMW and Subaru and honing road cars such as the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Mazda RX-8. But don’t presume that makes the U6 a sports SUV: the dynamics are dependable but don’t distinguish the car in any great way. It grips well by front-wheel-drive standards, allowing you to string corners together with a good deal of confidence, and the damping and resistance to body roll (provided by MacPherson-strut front and multi-link rear suspension) are well judged, making for progressive body movements and generally controlled handling, but it’s hardly overflowing with feel. And while the steering is light and precise, it’s lacking in feel and feedback. Aiways has been hinting at plans to enter the UK market for a few years now, and it says right-hand drive remains on the agenda, with plans for the U5 to arrive here by the end of this year and the U6 likely to get a start by the end of 2024. What will be interesting to see when it does go on sale in the UK is how Brits react to a car that offers a good deal of style and substance but without any badge recognition or the reputation of the established Asian and European brands. With a starting price of €47,588 (£41,700) in Germany, where Aiways has a sales and engineering base, it’s pitched some €8000 (£7000) above the U5. Such pricing invites competition from the likes of the Kia EV6, Skoda Enyaq iV and Tesla Model Y – a fight in which surely only a brave gambler would back it. Source

Former head coach talks about his relationship with star cricket during a TV programme By Web DeskMay 21, 2023 Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar and former head coach Saqlain Mushtaq. — Instagram/@imshoaibakhtar/Twitter/@PCBOfficial Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar and former head coach Saqlain Mushtaq. — Instagram/@imshoaibakhtar/Twitter/@PCBOfficial Former Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq demanded his money from ex-pacer Shoaib Akhtar that he owed him years ago. Speaking during a TV programme, Saqlain also talked about his relationship with the former speedster. "Shoaib has been my friend since childhood even before playing cricket. We used to visit each other's houses and ate daal roti together," said Saqlain, adding that he was nicknamed "Shoaibi" and "Shoaib actor". The former head coach, while laughing, recalled the time when Shoaib had borrowed Rs250 from him, saying that he still hasn't returned them. "There were teams that had come to Karachi for a match and about 25 people were sharing a two-room house in Lalukhet. Shoaib and I were in the same room. "We did not get a daily allowance at that time and used to leave home with Rs1,500 to 2,000. I had only Rs250 left from this amount and Shoaib did not have money. After we watched a movie, Shoaib thought to buy new pants and a shirt and he bought those from the leftover amount," said Saqlain. He said that the ex-pacer still hasn't returned that amount, demanding his money back. Saqlain further said that Shaoib was very fond of shopping, adding that other team players were also afraid that he might ask them to lend him money. https://www.thenews.com.pk/latest/1072565-saqlain-mushtaq-seeks-borrowed-money-back-from-shoaib-akhtar

Have you ever been on a hiking trip admiring the scenery, gazing at the treetops, listening to the rustling trees, and then suddenly finding yourself lost and alone? Naturally, the situation will cause you to feel some panic and worry about your safety and survival! Getting lost in the woods can be a terrifying and hidden experience, and therefore surviving in those wild conditions requires common sense, patience and the good use of the natural resources available around you. If you want to know how to survive on your own and survive when in the woods or in the middle of the wilderness, follow these steps. getting ready Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 1 1 Do some research first. Do not throw yourself directly into the wilderness, but first you have to understand well what will be around you. Studying the map of the area you are going to, and making sure to bring it with you as well, will greatly increase the chances of not getting lost. Learn all you can about the flora and fauna of the area you are exploring. A good knowledge of the local flora and fauna can save your life in a time of danger (eg knowing which plants are edible, or where snake colonies live) One of the most accurate and informative books on this matter is Jungle Skill: Living Outdoors and Surviving in the Wild, by Morse Kochanski. Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 2 2 Make sure you eat well before you venture out, tell someone where you're going, when you expect to b back, when they'll have to call the police, etc. Don't make the mistake James Franco made of 127, which is based on a true story. Make sure you know where you are going and when; This way, if you don't get home in time, someone will know you've lost your way or come across something worth looking for and help with, so they can quickly alert rescuers where they can start looking for you. Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 3 Equip the necessary gear for your survival. Basic survival tools such as a knife, lighter, matches (in a waterproof case), ropes (55 barcode is best), a whistle, a vacuum blanket, an alarm mirror (the camping one), water purification tablets, and a compass. These tools are able to make a huge difference and save your life and protect you from danger and even from exposure to death in many times. Even if you're only going out for a day in the wilderness, make sure you bring all of the aforementioned essentials with you. Having all the tools does not mean anything useful, if you are not able to use them properly. Make sure you practice using all of this equipment several times in a safe environment before you begin your adventure in the wild. Don't forget to take your first aid kit. You should bring tape, antiseptics and tweezers (in order to catch splinters that might hit your body). If you are taking medication or having injections, take them with you. Even if you don't plan to stay long enough to need them. You never know how fate will turn out, how long you will stay in the wild or when you might suddenly be bitten by a venomous snake. The compass is also a very necessary tool when walking in the woods. You can point the compass to the direction of the city or any place you moved from; Remember where the compass pointer points, this way if you get lost in the woods, all you have to do is turn around until the compass points in the right direction and then follow it back to where you started safely. Make sure you learn how to use a compass before you start your adventure. If you have a map and can spot some prominent places, you can use a compass to calculate your position, and then figure out where you need to go. When choosing an outdoor blanket (which is a light and thin layer of reflective mylar /polyester), you will have to spend more money for a larger, more durable type. An outdoor blanket can be used to keep out wind and water, wrapped around the body to prevent or counteract hypothermia, or even placed behind you to deflect the heat of a fire onto your back. All of the above will not be achieved if the blanket is too small. Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 4 Take the means of communication with you. A cell phone with battery backup or a portable CB walkie-talkie helps speed up the rescue process if you are lost or injured. A mobile signal may only be obtained from a hill or a tree, but in the end it's better than nothing. Some professional hikers may be interested in investing in a personal locator such as Spot Messenger for large, perilous or very remote treks. The Spot Messenger is a satellite communication device that allows you to communicate with emergency services, reach your regular contacts who need help in a time of danger, or even communicate with family members and friends during your trip so that they know you are okay. But you have to subscribe to this service, which is not cheap, by the way. method Survival in the jungle Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 5 1 Don't panic if you get lost. Panic is more dangerous than anything else because it disrupts the functioning of the only and best survival tool you have: your brain. The moment you realize you've been lost - and before you do anything else - take a deep breath and stay calm. Before doing anything, do the following steps in order sat down thought Observe and observe the things around you Prepare for your survival by collecting the necessary tools Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 6 2 Find yourself the signs of spatial directions. Wherever you are now, make it ground zero. Find a way to mark your whereabouts using a piece of clothing, a pile of rocks, or something else that you can simply see from a distance. Learn the basic directions: the sun rises in the east and sets in the west; Use the following to find the directions on the compass (clockwise, starting at the apex at the corresponding mark until 12:00): North, East, South, West. For example, if it is late afternoon and the sun is to your right, you are likely heading south. Learn how to spot the North Star at night in your backyard before your excursions into the wilderness. This is an invaluable skill. Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 7 3 Stay in one place. Not only does this increase the chance that others will find you, but it also reduces the energy your body uses and the amount of water or food you'll need. Take cover with something and stay where you are. Chances are someone will be looking for you, especially if you've told someone about your plans before the trip begins. Also, if you're on the trip with someone else, don't ever part. Harnessing the power of coming together will help everyone survive. Find the closest shaded place to stay if the temperature is too high. This will reduce the risk of sunburn or dehydration. Don't feel tempted to remove some of your clothing, as this increases the potential for these dangers. Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 8 4 rake. Build a good sized fire with enough coals to stay warm for several hours, and make sure you have extra dry wood. Start the fire before you feel the need for it Even if the weather is warm, it is easier to start a fire in easy conditions than to strive to light it in moments of panic and anxiety. In fact, having a burning fire near you will give you a sense of comfort and security as you try to feel confident in yourself, accept the new situation, and see the possibilities. It is recommended that you collect wood until you are sure you have enough wood to last the night and then collect three more piles of the same size. You must find a source of dry wood in the forest. You can also use tree bark or dry manure. If you're making a hot enough fire, you can use green wood, twigs, and tree branches to make a signal fire that creates a massive layer of smoke. The best wood for making a fire is the wood (dead branches) that fall from perennial trees. No matter what kind of forest you are in, there will undoubtedly be some dry wood available around you. Remember that a small fire is easier to keep burning longer than a large fire because it requires less fuel. Once you have enough embers, keep the fire to a reasonable size so that you don't have to spend a lot of time tending to it. Do not build a ring of fire in an area where it is not safe to do so. The fire must be far from trees or flammable branches, and it is preferable in an empty place. Be careful when handling fire. Although you must feed the flames, you should not overdo it. Consider the surrounding weather and other factors, and remember that surviving a wildfire is much more difficult than just getting over being lost. Indicate where you are. Make a fuss with whistles, screams, singing and even banging stones against each other. If you can, locate yourself in a way that makes it visible from the air. For example, if you are on a mountain meadow, build three piles of twigs or dark leaves in a triangular shape. In desert areas, make a large triangle in the sand; Three of Anything in the Wild is an agreed distress signal and is understood by most. You can use fire to send a distress signal. The global distress signal is made of three fires in a straight line or three fires in a triangle. You can also blow the whistle three times, shoot the gun three times in the air if you have one, or shine the mirror three times. Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 10 6 Explore the area you are in. Although you shouldn't move around much, you should explore your surroundings in order to find anything of interest. You may find things someone left there before, like a bottle or a small lighter, that will be very useful to you. Be sure you know your way back to your "ground zero", every time you go out looking for water or some kind of safe haven or finding a way out of this jungle and back home. Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 11 7 Find a source of water. In a survival situation, you may be able to survive 3 days without water, but by the end of the second day you will find that you are no longer in good physical condition. You have to find a water source before that. The best source of water is spring water, but there is little chance of finding it. You have to look for nearby birds in the vicinity, as a large percentage you will find that they fly around a source of fresh water. You should limit your use of the water available to you, but not to the point where you are thirsty all the time. A running water table is your second bet, as the movement of the water reduces sediment. You should know that drinking from streams and small rivers in forests or the like may cause you some fatigue, but when it comes to a life-or-death situation, the risk of disease comes into second consideration, and whatever you may contract can be cured when you return. If there is "dew" and you are in a miserable state and desperate for water, you can collect it on your clothes, then suck the moisture out of the fabric. You can find water between the crevices of the rocks as well. Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 12 8 Water Purification. The best way to purify water is to use your pot to heat the water and bring it to a boil. In order to kill bacteria efficiently, the water should boil for at least three minutes. [1] You can also put clear water in a transparent plastic bottle and put it in the sun for 6 hours in order to kill most of the harmful organisms inside it. [2] However, if the water is too sedimented for the sun to cure, this method won't work. If you have some salt, add some more to the water to try to push the sediment down. Find yourself a safe shelter or make one. Without proper shelter, you will be exposed to many risks, including hypothermia or heatstroke, depending on the nature of the surrounding weather. If your clothing is not suitable for the surrounding conditions, finding suitable shelter is crucial. Fortunately, the forests are full of tools and resources that allow you to both craft shelter and make fires (for warmth, safety, and distress signals). Here are some of the things you can use: Look for a fallen or leaning tree. You can build an A-shape by stacking tree branches on either side of a fallen tree, then covering the branches with boughs, palm leaves, leaves, or other plants. Use green boughs or branches from trees to block water, block wind, keep snow out, or create shade. Close the sides of the shelter as close as possible. Caves and caves can be a great option, but first make sure they are not colonized by bears, tigers, snakes, or other predators. These animals know these caves are awesome too, and these animals have known for thousands of years how to find safe haven better than you do. Make a snow cave if there is ice. Snow is a great insulator and helps keep you warm. Make sure this shelter isn't so hidden that you stay in it all the time making it difficult for anyone trying to get to you. Don't spend too much energy building the best shelter, or you'll burn yourself out for nothing. Photo titled Survive in the Woods Step 14 Find safe food. A healthy adult can survive up to three weeks without food, as long as the weather is not cold. [3] It is better to be hungry and well than sick; Make sure any food you eat is safe before you eat it. If there is anything that lowers your ability to survive, it is being lost and feeling excruciatingly tired. Extreme hunger is not a big deal or not your most difficult crisis right now. Don't feel afraid of eating different insects. Although it may feel gross to eat grasshoppers or insects, they do provide you with beneficial nutrients. Insects must be cooked because they may carry parasites that may cause your poisoning and death! Do not eat any caterpillars, light-colored insects, or any insects that can bite you. Remove the legs, head, and wings from any insect before eating it. If you are near water, fish is a good choice. The best for you in this situation are the smaller fish. No matter how hungry you are, avoid eating the mushrooms/mushrooms or berries you see in the woods. Hunger is better than eating something toxic. Many forest berries, especially the white mulberry, are poisonous. Source: https://ar.wikihow.com/البقاء-حيًا-في-الغابة

US President Joe Biden speaks during a press conference following the G7 Leaders´ Summit in Hiroshima on May 21, 2023. — AFP HIROSHIMA: The ties between US and China — which were deteriorated after the former shot down a suspected spy balloon earlier this year — will see an improvement "very shortly", said President Joe Biden on Sunday. Biden's comments came while speaking at a press conference following the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan. The US president said that Washington's decision to shoot down a "silly balloon that was carrying two freight cars worth of spying equipment" changed the dynamic of relations after talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 summit in November last year. A visit to Beijing by Secretary of State Antony Blinken that had been billed as a chance to improve relations was cancelled over the incident. On Sunday, at a press conference following the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan, Biden was asked why a planned hotline between the United States and China was not in operation. "You're right, we should have an open hotline. At the Bali conference, that's what President Xi and I agreed we were going to do and meet on," he said. "It [the balloon] got shot down and everything changed in terms of talking to one another. I think you're going to see that begin to thaw very shortly." Biden's administration has also infuriated China by targeting trade in advanced microchips, citing risks of military use. The president defended those actions on Sunday, a day after the Group of Seven leading economies warned China over its "militarisation activities" in the region. "It is building its military, and that's why I've made it clear that I am not prepared to trade certain items with China," he said. "We've now got a commitment from all of our allies that they're not going to do that either, provide that kind of material. "But that's not a hostile act, that's an act that says, 'we're going to make sure that we do everything we can to maintain the status quo.'" https://www.thenews.com.pk/latest/1072577-president-biden-hopeful-relations-with-china-to-get-better-very-soon

On the surface of our planet we find different elements that remind us, thanks to their presence, of the passage of time. This is the case of ancient architectural constructions, such as temples still standing or the remains of roads and buildings from antiquity. But if we are looking for a living being, still alive, that is the same age or even older than an old church, those are the trees. In California they have huge sequoias, very long-lived trees that can reach 1,800 years old. But, without going that far, in Europe we have a tree equal to or older than the famous American sequoias: an olive tree that is almost 4,000 years old. This is the Vouves olive tree, which is located on the Greek island of Crete. Experts say that the tree is between 2,000 and 4,000 years old, something difficult to determine given its age and its size. The existence of two geometric cemeteries next to the tree indicate that it was already planted at least in the year 900 BC. C., being one of the oldest olive trees in the world. A tree that still produces fruit This olive tree has a perimeter of 12.5 meters and a diameter of 4.6 meters. Since 1997, it is considered a natural monument protected by the Association of Cretan Municipalities of the Olive Tree. For its part, and given its tourist interest, in 2009 it was used to inaugurate the Vouves Olive Tree Museum nearby. This museum was installed in a 19th century house, and it shows the tools used in the manufacture of olive oil and the traditional process of olive cultivation. Curiously, some twigs of this thousand-year-old tree were used to weave the triumphal crowns of the winners of the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 and those in Beijing in 2008. A real honor for the athletes who wore these crowns. To this day, the Olive Tree of Vouves still bears fruit every year, with an estimate of 150 kilos of olives per year, which are used to make olive oil. If we look at it with perspective, it is a tree that has lived during the Empire of Ancient Egypt, and has seen the birth, growth and fall of the Great Roman Empire, among many other civilizations and disputes. All this makes this olive tree of great historical and cultural importance, and is a milestone in the field of olive oil production, an ancient art highly valued in the Cretan civilization. https://www.elconfidencial.com/alma-corazon-vida/2023-04-11/olivo-mas-viejo-y-grande-mundo-creta_3608175/

Hence, a Muslim must learn Quran with understanding as much as possible and also gain knowledge of the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in order to know and stay on the path of righteousness. In one of his Hadiths, Prophet (SAW) said: “He who loves my Sunnah has loved me, and he who loves me will be with me in Paradise.”(Tirmidhi) Believe in Allah: The most important thing that is the heart of all the Islamic faith is to believe in Allah. It is the nature and dignity of this belief that shapes the life of a Muslim and makes him or her better Muslim. If someone has strong belief in Allah, he or she would satisfy in good and forbid bad, which is the essence of Islam. Respect your Parents: Every Muslim is aware of the fact that parents are one of the greatest gifts of Allah Almighty and they play a great role in while parenting kids. Parents deserve utmost gratitude and the highest level of respect that a human can deserve. In Quran, Allah Almighty says: “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him; and that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them, but address them in terms of honor.”(Quran, 17-23). It is important that in order to become a good Muslim, one should respect the parents from the bottom of the heart and express this respect in actions as well. Remembrance of Allah (Dhikr): Dhikr refers to the remembrance of Allah Almighty. Allah is the creator and sustainer of life; therefore, for a Muslim, it is essential to remember Allah all the time. Today I shall shelter them in My shade where there is no shade but Mine.” [Muslim]. So, when Muslims befriend each other for the reason that they want to be better Muslims, then they will receive the benefits of this act in this world and in the world hereafter as well. Be Kind to Others: Ethics is one of the major teachings of Islam. For a Muslim religious life is of importance, yet, in order to be a true believer, the religious life needs to be complemented with kindness in the ethics domain as well. Therefore, whenever a Muslim finds a chance, he or she should strive towards being kind and take care of all those around and help them in the time of need. Be kind to others is also one of the things that we should adopt to become a better Muslim. Forgive Others: When someone hurts you, try to forgive them. It might be hard but just try to forgive. If you don’t forgive them for whatever they did and hold that against them for the rest of your life, you’ll just be hurting yourself more because it’s unhealthy to hold a grudge. It’s a good step to becoming a better Muslim. Establish an Islamic Culture in the Home: Make sure you and your family have Islamic culture in your home. Everyone in your home should have prayer beads, prayer rugs and should offer Salah regularly on time. You should do all those things in your home that comes in Islamic culture. Should try to go to Mosque: One of the major factors that can help you in becoming a good Muslim is by getting into the habit of going to a mosque for prayer. The mosque is the hub of Islamic preaching and a place where a Muslim can worship Allah Almighty. Besides these elements going to mosque five times a day for prayer gives a Muslim chance to interact with other Muslims thus gives a chance to discuss Islam with other people and learn good things about Islam from them as well. Establish daily Prayer: If there is one single thing that represents Muslim these days or has been a representative of Muslims since Islam is the obligatory prayers. Muslims all over the world prostrate in front of Allah Almighty five times a day. The prayers are an identity of a Muslim at a superficial level, however, at a deeper level, prayers represent the essence of Islam and a Muslim, which is that all the people are subjects of Allah and He as the Lord deserves praise, worship, and all the prayers. Muslim has to strive towards being a better Muslim so that with the passage of time he or she becomes a better Muslim and on the Day of Judgment rises among the blessed ones. In order to become a good Muslim, you will have to go for a holistic approach and gradually start adopting Islamic instructions in your life in all its aspect. May Allah help us to become a Better Muslims! Ameen

Bing Search (Image credit: Getting Images) Microsoft is working on yet another sizable update to Bing AI with this round going to mobile. The latest batch comes just weeks after a previous announcement of various desktop improvements and we have a lot to cover. Starting off with the Bing app itself(opens in new tab), users will be able to add a Bing Chat widget to their “iOS or Android home screen”. This gives you direct access to the AI with the option to either type in your query into the text window or select the microphone icon to ask the question verbally. You can start fresh with a new chat or continue with an old one as Microsoft is enabling the frequently requested “continuous conversations across platforms”. So now a conversation held with Bing on the desktop can continue on mobile devices and vice versa. The last Bing app update sees the AI gaining new support for multiple countries and languages, which opens it up to more people around the world. Unfortunately, a list of all the newfound support was not included in the post (although we did ask). Microsoft also claims it “improved the quality for non-English chats.” However, the company didn’t provide any details on the level of improvement. Sponsored Links If You Need To Relax On Your Computer, You Have To Play This Game. No Install Elvenar Expanding support Moving on to the second app, SwiftKey will have a Compose feature to help you write texts “according to the parameters you suggest”. These parameters include the subject matter, tone, length, and format with the final one being useful for drafting emails. Of course, you can edit those drafts. Two new tones are being added to SwiftKey as well – Witty and Funny – bringing the total to six. So, if you want to have Bing create some eye-rolling dad jokes, you can (just be sure you use this power wisely). To top it all off, the AI-powered Translator on Android will be migrating over to iOS “within the next week” or so. RECOMMENDED VIDEOS FOR YOU... CLOSE The Edge browser app is getting Contextual Chat allowing users to ask Bing a question based on the content they’re viewing. The example given is you can ask the AI what the best wine would be to pair with a recipe you're looking at or have it write up a summary of an article you're looking at. Learning will also be made a bit easier thanks to Selected Text Actions. Highlighting a piece of text will open a conversation with Bing where it will then explain that topic in detail complete with “cited sources”. And last but not least, every single group chat in Skype will have access to the generative AI. All you have to do is tag it by entering “@Bing” into a discussion. Bing AI update on mobile apps (Image credit: Windows) Availability The release dates of all these features are all over the place which is why it wasn’t mentioned earlier. The Skype update, SwiftKey Compose tool, and the Bing widget are releasing this week (week of May 14, 2023). Next week, we’ll see continuous conversations alongside the Translator tool. Everything else is unknown other than a vague “soon”. We asked Microsoft if it could provide us with dates for the unmentioned features plus a list of the newly supported countries and languages. This story will be updated at a later time. While we have you check out TechRadar’s list of the best AI tools for 2023 to see what the technology is capable of. It’s not just assistants or content generators. https://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-microsoft-apps-getting-new-ai-features-as-part-of-another-bing-update

You can learn a lot about tinkering with microelectronics, but now, thanks to Adrian Cruceru’s latest Raspberry Pi project, you can use microelectronics to learn how to play the piano. A Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller drives his RP2040 Piano helper project and can be programmed to help students learn any song they like. Just follow the LEDs and press the corresponding key to play new songs on the fly. The Pico controls a series of LEDs that line up with the keys on a keyboard (or piano). The LEDs illuminate on specific keys so the player knows which key to press next in the song. When not in use, it can also demonstrate a nice gradient effect. The Pico charts out songs by interpreting MIDI files to determine the note and length of time the note is played for. To learn a new song, all you have to do is find a MIDI file for the song you want and run it through his converter. Songs can be selected from a browser window. You can have the song programmed to light up the keys at predetermined intervals or use the appropriate timestamps from the original song. This versatility makes it possible to gradually learn songs at your own pace. Sponsored Links If You Need To Relax On Your Computer, You Have To Play This Game. No Install Elvenar To create the project, Cruceru uses a Raspberry Pi Pico module that's connected to a WS2812B LED strip. This strip is then adjusted into place above the respective keys on his keyboard. Each LED corresponds with a certain note (or key) so that the MIDI file will always cause the right note to be illuminated. RECOMMENDED VIDEOS FOR YOU... CLOSE The code for this project was created from scratch by Cruceru using Micropython. Cruceru was also kind enough to make the project open source. If you want to get a closer look at the code and see how it works from the inside, check out the official RP2040 piano helper project page over at GitHub. This is one clever Raspberry Pi project you should really see in action. To check out a video demonstration of the RP2040 piano helper, visit the original thread shared on Reddit or watch the video on YouTube.
