  2. Mozilla is rolling out Firefox version 102 which now has the ability to prevent websites from tracking you. The full patch notes can be seen on Mozilla's page(opens in new tab), which states Firefox will now mitigate “query parameter tracking when navigating sites…” Query parameters are the string of characters that appear in a URL after a question mark and can be used to track people across the internet. These parameters are used to display targeted ads, for example. To illustrate how the new feature works, BleepingComputer(opens in new tab) created a test page(opens in new tab) where you can click on one of the links and see a URL that looks like this: “example.com/?mc_eid=12”. If you take that URL into the new Firefox browser, the characters after the question mark will be gone. You can update Firefox by going to the browser menu and locating About Firefox to begin updating. To activate the anti-tracking feature, you’ll have to go to the Privacy & Security tab in Firefox Settings. Under Enhanced Tracking Protection, change the security level from Standard to Strict and you’re good to go. Firefox displays a notice saying that browsing under Strict may cause some websites to not work properly. If this happens, you’ll have to revert back to Standard. It’s important to point out that the anti-tracking feature does not work on private windows, but it can be turned on. In a Firefox private window, enter "about:config" into the address bar, then type in “strip” in the new search bar. Set "privacy.query_stripping.enabled.pbmode" from false to true, and you’re done. Beefing up security In addition to the anti-tracking feature, Mozilla patched up its browser's security. The full list of fixed vulnerabilities(opens in new tab) can be found on Mozilla’s Security page where they range from low to high severity. And the developer fixed a compatibility issue afflicting screen readers on Windows. Apparently, screen readers would read the wrong thing on a page or outright fail. Mozilla also added the ability to disable the download panel(opens in new tab) from automatically opening whenever you start downloading. Mozilla has gone so far as to call its browser the most secure in the world. While that might be considered hyperbole, the developer has consistently rolled out new security features to Firefox like making Total Cookie Protection a default setting and implementing Enhanced Cookie Clearing to wipe out third-party trackers.
  3. GIGABYTE is a company renowned for its extensive range of motherboards and graphics cards, myriads of which passed through our testing labs. Regardless, the massive volumes at which GIGABYTE is producing motherboards and graphics cards has not keep the company from making diversification efforts towards virtually every segment of the PC market, ranging from laptops and mini PCs to gaming keyboards and chairs. GIGABYTE is not a stranger in the power and cooling business, shyly marketing their first few PC PSUs over fifteen years ago. The company’s PSU releases were few and far between, with GIGABYTE grabbing a little piece of the market share but never making a significant effort to overwhelm the competition. In today’s review, we are having a look at the GIGABYTE UD1000GM PG5, a powerful 80Plus Gold certified PC PSU. What makes the UD1000GM PG5 stand out from the crowd is the new 12+4 pin connector (12VHPWR connector), which is required by the ATX 3.0 standard. GIGABYTE does not claim that the UD1000GM PG5 is ATX 3.0 compliant, but having the 12VHPWR connector allows for partial compatibility – and conceivably future-proofs the PSU against upcoming graphics card releases. Packaging and Bundle GIGABYTE supplies the UD1000GM PG5 in an aesthetically captivating but relatively small cardboard box, hinting at the compact dimensions of the PSU in relation to its power output. Inside the box, the PSU is encased inside thin packaging foam that offers partial protection from shipping damage. There are virtually no items bundled alongside with the UD1000GM PG5, with GIGABYTE sticking to the absolute basics. Only four typical mounting screws and an AC power cable can be found inside the packaging. The GIGABYTE UD1000GM PG5 1000W PSU is a fully modular design, allowing for the removal of every DC power cable, including the 24-pin ATX connector. Most of the cables are bare, ribbon-like, with black wires and black connectors. The only exception is the new PCIe 5.0 cable that is made of black wires and has black connectors but also has black sleeving covering it. The new PCIe 5.0 cable is the highlight of this PSU. This connector is required by the new ATX 3.0 standard for any PC PSU that has an output greater than 450 Watts. Of course, the connector alone does not make the UD1000GM PG5 ATX 3.0 compliant, as the new standard brings numerous and significant changes to the market. However, it would help the UD1000GM PG5 to last longer. Physically, these 16-pin connectors are not significantly larger than legacy 6/8-pin PCIe connectors, but they feature twelve pins plus four sensing pins. Out of the four sensing pins, two are mandatory and two are optional. The mandatory pins signal to the PCIe card the maximum power that the connector can handle, allowing the card to regulate its power draw. That makes the use of adapters on older PSUs tricky, as there is no way for the PSU to signal the card and their cables cannot handle a high current draw, so the preset output cannot be anywhere near 600 Watts. The only window for safely using adapters limits a passive adapter’s output to the minimum allowed by the new standard (150 Watts) or will require active adapters with multiple legacy connector inputs. These new 12VHPWR connectors can deliver up to 600 Watts each. Depending on the PSU’s capability, the maximum wattage that it can provide is printed on the connector itself. The connector of the UD1000GM PG5 states that it can handle 600 Watts continuous, which is the maximum dictated by the ATX 3.0 standard. The GIGABYTE UD1000GM PG5 1000W PSU External Appearance The GIGABYTE UD1000GM PG5 PSU is very compact for a 1 kW unit. Measuring just 86 mm × 150 mm × 140 mm (H × W × D), the UD1000GM PG5 manages to fully comply with ATX standard dimensional specifications, making it compatible with virtually any ATX-compliant case. The steel chassis is sprayed with a satin black paint and several parts of it have been embossed to create a futuristic design. The fan’s finger guard also is part of the chassis itself.
  4. Cadillac has a lil' something extra up its sleeve for the CT4-V Blackwing, its sportiest small sedan (and one of our favorites), and previewed it at this weekend's Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen IMSA race at Watkins Glen. In a brief Instagram (and identical Twitter) post depicting a garage door opening on an Electric Blue CT4-V Blackwing, Cadillac promised a new 2023 CT4-V Blackwing Track Edition "inspired by #CadillacRacing success at" IMSA. The 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Track Edition, besides having an endurance-race-long name, appears to wear several obvious upgrades over a regular CT4-V Blackwing. These are highlighted by aerodynamic canards and a more aggressive splitter that go beyond the pieces included in the Blackwing's $4,350 Carbon Fiber I and $2,650 Carbon Fiber II packages. Oh, and it's actually "Editions," as in, plural. Watch the Instagram video all the way through, and you'll see a trio of 2023 CT4-V Blackwing Track Editions. In addition to the blue and black example, there are white-and-red and matte-gray versions. Each car appears to celebrate a different track at which Cadillac Racing has seen racing glory, including Road Atlanta, Watkins Glen, and Sebring. We're guessing the color schemes on each Track Edition references these tracks, as do tiny sticker outlines of their configurations on the Cadillacs' rear windows, though all three wear "IMSA" stickers on their front spoilers. So far there is no word on whether the Track Editions upgrade the CT4-V Blackwing's twin-turbo 3.6-liter V-6 engine, which puts out 472 hp and 445 lb-ft of torque in its standard guise, or whether the packages are available with the V's six-speed manual transmission or 10-speed automatic. We'll know more about the 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Track Editions in July, when they make their full debuts, but one thing stands out from the Instagram post: Supplies will be "extremely limited."
  5. Social media circles were abuzz after another of our celebrities, actor and vlogger Shenaz Treasury, came out with an embarrassing cognitive disorder called Prosopagnosia or facial blindness that makes it difficult for her to recognise and remember faces. A rare condition, she said how she was perceived as snooty and arrogant just because she couldn’t put people’s faces together. “I’ve always felt so ashamed that I mix up people and can’t recognise faces of people — even close friends if I see after a few years — I can’t recognise them. This is a real brain issue. Please be kind and understand,” she wrote on her Instagram post. A few days ago, Hollywood actor Brad Pitt, too, had revealed how the psychological and social impact of the disease had made him unfit for public interactions. No matter how frivolous this sounds, this could indicate a serious brain condition that needs serious attention and early diagnosis, said Dr Kishan Raj, senior consultant neurologist at the IBS Hospital, New Delhi. What is prosopagnosia? Prosopagnosia is, as Dr Raj defined, a neurological condition in which the patient finds it difficult to recognise familiar faces and is unable to recognise people who he/she has known earlier, by face. The patient will, however, be able to recognise another individual through voice and/or other gestures. Normally, an individual can recognise and remember 5000 plus faces throughout their lifetime. However, people who suffer from Prosopagnosia have difficulty recognising people’s faces out of context. What precedents/causes could be attached to development of the disorder? This condition arises when there is some problem in the Temporo-Occipital area of the right side of the brain. The problems that could affect the area include a stroke, hampered blood circulation, haemorrhage or tumour, said Dr Raj. “These are the major underlying causes that could lead to the development of prosopagnosia. The occurrence of the disorder could also be attributed to degenerative conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, but this happens very rarely. Some congenital conditions could also cause prosopagnosia,” he added. What are the available treatments for the disorder? The treatment could be decided after identifying the underlying cause. If the disorder is caused by a stroke, then that has to be contained first. If the underlying cause is a tumour, then an operation, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can be used. If it is caused by haemorrhage, then it will have to be treated accordingly. Thus, “the treatment of this cognitive disorder will be in accordance with the treatment of the underlying cause”, said Dr Raj. What are some of the initial symptoms that a patient could look out for to detect/ self-diagnose the disorder? This varies across patients. Since the disorder involves the Occipito Temporal area, it can lead to some symptoms like loss of vision, and individuals might experience drowsiness due to edema or swelling in the region. Sometimes, the patient might directly report the loss of facial recognition. How quick are the symptoms to occur among patients affected by facial blindness? Timely reporting of the disorder will depend upon underlying symptoms. Dr Raj said that in case of acute conditions like a stroke or haemorrhage, the patient would report the condition immediately. However, in cases of encephalitis, brain infection or brain tumour that develop over a period of time, the symptoms of the disorder would not manifest enough to warrant patient attention. Which age group is the most vulnerable to this cognitive disorder? People develop conditions like brain haemorrhage and stroke mostly after the age of 50. Those who suffer from hypertension, diabetes and smokers, too, develop a high risk of developing prosopagnosia. Tumours, brain infections could, however, develop among younger people too. Asked about the frequency of the cognitive disorder, Dr Raj said that it was very rare.
  6. The US will increase its military presence across Europe as Nato agreed a "fundamental shift" in its response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. A permanent army headquarters will be created in Poland, while new US warships will go to Spain, fighter jets to the UK and ground troops to Romania. Mr Biden said Nato was "needed now more than it has ever been". The alliance is having its biggest overhaul since the Cold War, Nato head Jens Stoltenberg said. The new plan in response to Russia's invasion will mean more than 300,000 troops at high readiness next year, up from the current level of 40,000. Mr Biden told a summit in Madrid that Nato would be "strengthened in all directions across every domain - land, air and sea". The announcement sees the US shore up its presence across the continent but particularly in eastern Europe where the new permanent headquarters for its 5th Army Corps will be based. Mr Biden repeated the alliance's commitment to "defend every inch" of its territory, saying: "We mean it when we say an attack against one is an attack against all." The measures include: Boosting the fleet of US naval destroyers in Spain from four to six An additional "rotational brigade in Romania consisting of 3,000 fighters and another 2,000-personnel combat team Two more squadrons of F-35 stealth jets to the UK Additional air defence and other capabilities in Germany and Italy. At the summit Nato leaders agreed to accept the previously neutral Nordic states Finland and Sweden into the alliance, with their membership needing to be ratified by the governments of all 30 Nato members. Mr Biden said this was "exactly" what Russian President Vladimir Putin did not want and said his strategy of invading Ukraine had backfired. Nato Secretary General Mr Stoltenberg said Finland and Sweden had been formally invited to join the military alliance, describing it as the "fastest accession process ever", and said he expected the swift progress to continue. The two applicants must now show that they meet Nato's standards in politics, law, and in their armed forces - something which is expected to be relatively straightforward for the Nordic countries. Mr Stoltenberg said Ukraine could continue to count on the alliance's assistance in the face of Russian aggression for "as long as it takes", adding that Ukraine was fighting for its independence but also for values shared by Nato. He said member states had agreed a "comprehensive assistance package" for Ukraine, which included fuel, medical supplies, body armour, anti-drone systems and equipment to counter mines. The US decision to permanently station some of its troops in Poland was greeted with near-universal acclaim. President Andrzej Duda, in Madrid for the Nato summit, said "this is the decision we've been waiting for". Poland has been warning the West about President Putin's threatening behaviour for years. In 2018, Warsaw offered to pay up to $2bn (£1.65bn) to help fund a permanent US base in Poland and even offered to call it "Fort Trump" to appeal to the then-president. However, President Biden's announcement does not mean that most of the 12,000 US troops currently in Poland - more than half of whom were deployed temporarily following Russia's invasion of Ukraine - will be permanently stationed here. According to the Pentagon, such status will apply only to the US 5th Corps headquarters command post set up in Poznan in 2020, where around 200 staff conduct planning and oversee US land forces in Europe, as well as a new army garrison headquarters and a field support battalion. Indeed, President Duda has said that an additional 300 US soldiers will be added to the US 5th Corps command in Poznan - so we're talking about 500 in total permanently stationed in Poland out of the 12,000. 2px presentational grey line The summit described a new guiding blueprint for the alliance which said that Russia was "the most significant and direct threat to Allies' security and to peace and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area". It added that "we cannot discount the possibility of an attack against allies' sovereignty and territorial integrity". Earlier, Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov described the expansion of Nato as "destabilising" and said it did not add to the security of members of the alliance, according to the Russian state news agency RIA.
  7. Diablo Immortal player uses premium currency shenanigans to turn old WoW tokens into a whale-killing Necromancer First spotted by our colleagues at GamesRadar(opens in new tab), a Diablo Immortal player with the Reddit handle daymeeuhn has successfully parlayed a collection of old promotional World of Warcraft loot cards into 600 million gold, which they then used to purchase approximately $50,000 worth of Diablo Immortal rewards(opens in new tab) through the unified Blizzard ecosystem. The spree enabled daymeeuhn to create a nigh-unstoppable Necromancer that they claim has embarrassed at least one heavy-spending Diablo Immortal streamer in the game's PvP. Before we get too far, it's worth pointing out that daymeeuhn may just be merely another, albeit indirect, Diablo Immortal "whale" (a term for the minority of players who make the majority of purchases in an F2P game). They had previously purchased a surfeit of WoW loot cards at BlizzCon events, spending an estimated $1,000-$2,000 in real money in hopes of turning them around for a profit. As daymeeuhn puts it, "Over the years, trying to sell them was near impossible as you get scammed on digital sales so frequently." "They ended up sitting in a drawer collecting dust for ages," daymeeuhn explained Bigger picture conceptualization of what makes a "whale" aside, daymeeuhn did hit on a hilariously absurd loophole with their untended war chest of WoW loot cards: WoW tokens can be used on Diablo Immortal in-game purchases. They went about converting their loot codes into 600 million gold in WoW, which enabled them to purchase around $50,000 worth of empowered Elder Rift runs—mini dungeons in Diablo Immortal whose rewards can be enhanced with real money purchases—the most efficient way to spend real money in Immortal according to daymeeuhn. I also have to respect the ROI of turning an initial $2,000 investment into $50,000 of funbucks. The end result is a souped-up Necromancer, a "proverbial powerhouse" that daymeeuhn claims can bully any number of real-money slinging "whale" streamers who have proliferated in the game's PvP. The whole process really underlines the absurdity of a digital economy like this, breaking it like you would in a single player RPG. The only difference is that becoming the crafted potion magnate of all Vvardenfell in the Elder Scrolls 3 never intersects with the real-world economy. It also feels like a throwback to old-fashioned gaming menaces like Angwe(opens in new tab), who stunted on the Alliance in early WoW. I find a delicious irony in the way one of our buttoned-up, walled garden, modern digital ecosystems can accidentally produce a monster straight out of the '90s or early aughts.

  10. Google has announced a new feature for its productivity suite that could help lure customers away from Microsoft 365. As explained in its latest blog entry(opens in new tab), users will now benefit from the ability to edit Microsoft Office files from within Google Workspace (née G Suite) without the need for an internet connection. “At times when your device is offline, you’re now able to edit, comment, and collaborate on Office files using Docs, Sheets and Slides. Any changes made to files while offline will then sync to Drive once you are connected again,” explained Google. “The feature brings the collaboration benefits of Google Workspace to Microsoft Office files.” Google Workspace vs. Microsoft 365 Since the birth of G Suite in 2006, Google has competed directly with Microsoft in the office software space, going up against its notorious rival which houses the likes of Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc. One of the defining features of Microsoft’s offering is tight integration between apps and services, extending all the way out to the Windows operating system on which most business computers run. But then, Google stole a march on its rival when it came to the real-time collaboration model, whereby software is served up via the cloud, which has proved all-important since the transition to remote and hybrid working. However, data recently provided to TechRadar Pro highlighted the significant gap that continues to separate the pair, with 58% of companies choosing Microsoft 365 and just 15% opting for Google Workspace. Although the survey focused exclusively on the US, the findings are supported by the global financials. In Q1 2022, Google’s cloud services segment (under which Workspace sits) brought in $5 billion in revenue, whereas Microsoft’s productivity segment accounted for $15 billion. In an effort to make up ground, Google has had to come up with creative ways to make its own suite a more attractive proposition to those already embedded in the Microsoft ecosystem. Since the start of the pandemic, for example, the company has worked to introduce new synergies between its various services in order to develop a “more deeply integrated users experience” capable of rivalling its competitor’s offering. The latest update, meanwhile, focuses on easing the transition between Microsoft and Google services. While Workspace has allowed users to import Office documents for years, the ability to edit whileoffline will offer further comfort to those concerned about the continued need to handle Word, Excel and PowerPoint files when working with clients and partners. The new feature is currently in the process of rolling out and should take effect for all Google account holders by mid-July 2022. Keep your teams on deadline with the best project management software around
  11. NVIDIA has officially launched its most entry-level graphics card of 2022, the GeForce GTX 1630, which aims to be positioned in the sub-$150 US GPU segment. NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 Graphics Card Launched: Designed For Entry-Level PCs The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 utilizes a cut-down TU117 GPU with 512 CUDA cores, lower than the GeForce GTX 1650 model, which offers 896 cores, and even lower than the GTX 1050 Ti which packs 768 cores. The card will also pack a 4 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 64-bit memory bus, a huge cut-down from the 128-bit bus that the TU117 GPU has at its disposal. As such, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 graphics card delivers a maximum bandwidth of 96 GB/s which is half that of the GTX 1650. The bandwidth is also less than the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card, a Pascal series graphics card from six years ago, but retains the 4GB GDDR6 memory base clock of 12 Gbps. The graphics card will feature a TDP of 75W and core clocks will be configured at 1785 MHz though there are several custom models that ship with an external power connector and deliver over 1800 MHz max clocks. With the specs out of the way, the only review for the card at the moment comes from Tech Power Up. The tech outlet managed to get hands-on a GTX 1650 Ghost custom model from Gainward and while the card does offer 3x the performance improvement over its predecessor, the GT 1030, the RX 6400 offers 55-60% higher performance at a similar price point and at the same power figures. Overall, if you look at this card, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 is primarily designed for the entry-level and OEM segment. As such, it will be a very silent launch that will go unnoticed by several gamers but you would be surprised to see large quantities of these GPUs on market shelves as Turing is abundant in supply and NVIDIA wants to get rid of as many old chips as they can. MSRP has been suggested as around $140-$150 US though retailers may offer the card close to $155-$160 US and even as high as $200 US. The card is mainly going to be available in Asian Pacific markets and there's already a new driver out, the Game Ready 516.59 WHQL, which adds support for the new graphics card.
  12. The Ford Bronco Everglades stands out from the other Bronco models with its factory-installed Warn winch', integrated and honest-to-goodness snorkel, and a few tweaks that help it go deeper than (almost) all the other Broncos. What Makes The Ford Bronco Everglades Different? It's in the name "Everglades." This is a place that should conjure images of thick mire, twisted tracks, and water that could easily turn away the less-capable driver and 4x4. Ford packed the 2022 Bronco Everglades with features designed to make the SUV remarkably capable right off the dealer lot. The 2022 Ford Bronco Everglades starts with a four-door Black Diamond Bronco fitted with the Mid package trim and the Sasquatch off-road goodies. There's a hardtop with factory cargo rails and crossbars, the 2.3-liter turbocharged EcoBoost I-4 engine, and the (sorry, manual-trans fans) 10-speed automatic transmission. Warn Winch On The Front Bumper Bronco Everglades wears something hard to find on factory SUVs—a Warn Zeon 10-S 10,000-pound-capacity winch mounted to the modular steel front bumper. Ford took the trail-tested winch and upgraded its powdercoat for corrosion resistance, gave it an exclusive hawse fairlead, and fixed it to the front bumper with heavy-duty hardware. The bumper and winch come standard on the 2022 Bronco Everglades so you don't have to fuss with choosing the best winch/bumper combo for your Bronc. Plus, everything up front has been crash test certified and maintains the functions of all the sensors you know and love. Spooled around the drum is 100 feet of synthetic winch rope which is known for its improved safety. Think: If synthetic rope breaks during a pull, it carries significantly less kinetic energy, especially compared to steel cable. Looking closely at the winch hook, Ford adds a second bottle opener to the Bronco. There is one feature missing from the front, however. You won't find a forward-facing trail camera on the 2022 Ford Bronco Everglades, likely due to real estate on the grille with the factory-installed winch. We're choosy about our on-trail technology and have found that the spotting capabilities offered by forward-facing cameras are great. We fumbled (unsuccessfully) to find it more than thrice whilst navigating boulder-strewn water crossings and cresting sloppy hillclimbs in the Bronco Everglades. It Has An Actual Snorkel! While other vehicle manufacturers shy away from this name, Ford embraces the "snorkel" on its 2022 Bronco Everglades. Raised air intakes are said to improve the quality of air drawn into the engine bay (compared to within the wheelwell or other locations) and they can also reduce chances of the vehicle sucking in water. This one is unique in that it is specifically contoured to the Bronco's side mirror while offering reversible plates allowing the driver to select whether the snorkel draws air from the front or the rear of the intake based on conditions. This feature does not mean the Bronco can dive windshield-deep. However, Ford raised the transmission vent tube and diff breathers which contribute to the Bronco Everglades' 36.4-inch wading depth, which is almost 3 inches more than the standard Sasquatch package. SquareBronco Everglades Exterior d-off fenders are a throwback to previous Bronco generations and are specific to the Everglades Bronco. The fenders have been widened to match the width of the Sasquatch package. Inside the wheelwells, you'll find a set of Goodyear Territory 315/70R17 (that's 35-inch) mud-terrain tires and stylish alloy wheels. Ahead of the driver door is the Everglades graphic showing a wading Sasquatch creature, topographical lines depicting the Florida Everglades, as well as water level indicators that should be visible from the driver seat to gauge the depth of crossings. Desert Sand is an Everglades-exclusive color and it complements the already-available Eruption Green, Area 51, Shadow Black, and Cactus Gray color options. In addition to the modular front bumper, Everglades comes standard with rocksliders, undercarriage skidplates protecting the engine, transfer case, fuel tank, and a bash plate that integrates with the front bumper. We also see a nearly quarter-inch improvement in ground clearance, a 5.4-degree decrease in approach angle, and a 0.1-degree increase in departure angle with the Everglades Bronco compared to a standard Bronco on 35-inch tires. What's Inside The Bronco Everglades? Marine vinyl on the seats and rubberized floors trim the interior and both promote easier cleaning after a muddy romp through the trails. Additionally, drain plugs in the floor make it easy to hose away sediment (or drain water after a particularly wet doors-off experience). Ford's 12-inch touchscreen made its way to the console but you won't find heated steering wheel or Sta-Bar Disconnect options on the Bronco Everglades. Why Not The 2.7L? Bronco Everglades gets one option and that's the 2.3-liter EcoBoost good for 300 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. This option saves weight, which makes up for the additional upfront mass of the winch, and gives a slight bump in efficiency for extended travels off the pavement. We Go Swamping In The Ford Bronco Everglades Drummond Island offers an exciting off-road experience similar to what can be found in many parts of the United States. Two-track trails pockmarked with deep mud chasms, slimy ruts, tight trees, and did we mention mud? With "Mud and Ruts" selected on our G.O.A.T. Mode dial and bug repellent applied, we dove into the Northwoods. The Ford Bronco Everglades is right at home cruising the trails at a lively pace and its Bilstein dampers sponge up irregularities without an issue. After verifying the depth, we plunged the nose of the Bronco into some considerably deep mud holes. Water slapped the body panels as we crossed and it sounded like inland lake waves on a fishing boat, except our four-wheeled dinghy wasn't floating, it was confidently clawing forward while the water remained safely below the air intakes. Though we couldn't disconnect the Bronco's front Sta-Bar, locking the front and rear differentials did help dig us through some of the nastier ruts. Even after a few attempts to clear some of the deeper ruts, we found ourselves needing a bit of a pull, and the Warn winch was ready. Whether we needed to crest the slippery upslope following a mud bog or free the SUV from a particularly nasty undercarriage-grabbing rock, the Warn VR10-S had the guts to safely get it done. As we stepped out of the Bronco after a full day of mud whompin', we noticed the considerable mud we tracked into machine both at our feet and on the seats. No worries, the Washout vinyl floors and seats were itching for bath. Final Thoughts: 2022 Ford Bronco Everglades We believe that our time with the Bronco Everglades is representative of the off-roading most people will do with their Broncos—and it does it really well. The Bronco is definitely up to the challenges presented by rocky trails and spirited romps across rough terrain, but this one, with its winch and snorkel, make it especially well-suited for fun in the (considerably wet) dirt. We'd be challenged to find an SUV that can be driven off the dealer lot with 35-inch tires, locking differentials in the front and rear, rocksliders, a snorkel, and don't forget the Warn winch. The Bronco Everglades is a vehicle built to make off-road recreation approachable while giving more seasoned drivers the tools they need right out of the box.
  13. Wimbledon, also known as ‘The Championships’, is one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the world, and also the oldest. Held at the All England Club in Wimbledon, London since 1877, it is played on outdoor grass courts and is the only one of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments — others being the Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open — that is played on grass and one that does not conduct night matches. Wimbledon is also one that follows a stringent dress code for players. According to wimbledon.com, the following rules apply to all clothing — including tracksuits and sweaters — worn on the courts for practice and for matches. 1. Competitors must be dressed in “suitable tennis attire” that is “almost entirely white”. This applies from the point the player enters the court. 2. White does not include off-white or cream. 3. There should be no “solid mass or panel of colouring”. A single trim of colour around the neckline and around the cuff of the sleeves is acceptable, but must be no wider than one centimetre (10mm). 4. Colour contained within patterns will be measured. Logos formed by variations of material or patterns are not acceptable. 5. The back of a shirt, dress, tracksuit top or sweater must be completely white. 6. Shorts, skirts and tracksuit bottoms must be completely white except for a single trim of colour down the outside seam. 7. Caps, headbands, bandanas, wristbands and socks must be completely white except for a single trim of colour. 8. Shoes must be almost entirely white. Soles and laces must be completely white, too. Large manufacturers’ logos are not encouraged. 9. Undergarments visible during play (including due to perspiration) must also be completely white except for a single trim of colour. “Common standards of decency are required”. 10. Medical equipment should be white if possible, but can be coloured if absolutely necessary. The aforementioned rules, however, have been bent by some players in the past, who have courted controversy over the years. In 1987, Australian tennis player Pat Cash had worn a black and white checkered bandana at the tournament. In 2009, Roger Federer had worn a jacket embroidered with the number ’15’ after winning the Wimbledon men’s singles final against Andy Roddick. It was assumed the number on the custom Nike jacket was in reference to his 15th Grand Slam victory. Then, in 2017, Venus Williams was reportedly asked to change her bra in the middle of a match when her pink straps were spotted in the all-white tournament. When she was asked about it during the press conference Williams had said, “I don’t like talking about bras in press conferences. It’s weird.” French tennis player Tatiana Golovin made news during the 2007 Wimbledon Championships, when she wore red shorts while competing. Interestingly, Golovin was allowed to wear them because it was prior to the dress code update of 2014. In 2008, Maria Sharapova made a statement against the strict dress code by wearing a pair of shorts and a corset-style top in reference to Wimbledon’s rigid guidelines. She, however, told Reuters that she was “very inspired by menswear this year”, and that she “wanted to do something classy and elegant”. In 2017, four male players in the Wimbledon junior tournament showed up to the court wearing black and blue underwear, and were asked to change them. Zsombor Piros of Hungary and China’s Wu Yibing were given white underwears by an official, and sent to the locker room to change.
  14. Ghislaine Maxwell has been sentenced to 20 years in a US prison for helping disgraced former financier Jeffrey Epstein abuse young girls. Maxwell, 60, was convicted in December of recruiting and trafficking four teenage girls for sexual abuse by Epstein, her then boyfriend. One of her accusers said outside the court in New York that she should stay in prison for the rest of her life. Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019. He had been awaiting his own sex trafficking trial. Ghislaine Maxwell's crimes took place over a decade, between 1994 and 2004. Pronouncing the sentence, Judge Alison J Nathan said Maxwell's conduct had been "heinous and predatory". "Ms Maxwell worked with Epstein to select young victims who were vulnerable and played a pivotal role in facilitating sexual abuse," she added. She said the case called for a "very significant sentence" and that she wanted to send an "unmistakable message" that such crimes would be punished. As well as jail time, the judge imposed a fine of $750,000 (£610,000). Maxwell, whose lawyers had argued for a term of less than five years, looked straight ahead and showed no emotion as the sentence was passed in front of a packed public gallery. Earlier, she addressed her victims. She said she empathised with them, adding that she hoped her prison sentence would allow the victims "peace and finality". Maxwell has been in custody since her arrest in July 2020, held mostly at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center. The case against the British former socialite has been one of the highest-profile since the emergence of the #MeToo movement, which encouraged women to speak out about sexual abuse. Maxwell: Greatest regret was meeting Epstein The most shocking moment came when Ghislaine Maxwell stood up to speak. She addressed the victims directly - saying "I'm sorry for the pain you have experienced". She said she hoped they could now look forward and not back. She called Epstein a mani[CENSORED]tive, cunning man who fooled all in his orbit. At the top of her statement, she said it was hard for her to address the pain and anguish. She said she wanted to acknowledge their suffering and that she empathised deeply with the victims. She said her association with Epstein was the greatest regret of her life. "My association with Epstein will permanently stain me," she said. The judge, ahead of sentencing, said what was not expressed in Maxwell's statement was an expression of her responsibility. The victims were emotional as they spoke about the pain and anguish Maxwell caused them. They read their prepared statements - but Maxwell did not look at them as they spoke. The judge allowed four women to speak at Tuesday's hearing, as well as allowing a statement by Virginia Giuffre to be read by her lawyer in her absence. Annie Farmer, the only victim on the indictment to give evidence under her full name during the trial, was the first to speak. She had to pause midway through her speech in order to contain her emotions but continued to read her statement to the court in full. Sarah Ransome, who did not testify at the trial but was due to give an impact statement, spoke outside court alongside fellow accuser Elizabeth Stein. "Ghislaine must die in prison because I've been in Hell and back for the last seventeen years," Ms Ransome said. "I was 10 years old when Liz Stein was being trafficked. I was 10. That is how long this sex trafficking ring has been going on for. And it should have just taken one survivor to come forward for us to be taken seriously. It should not have been this hard." During the trial, Ms Farmer and three other women, identified in court only by their first names or pseudonyms to protect their privacy, testified that they had been abused as minors at Epstein's homes in Florida, New York, New Mexico and the Virgin Islands. They recounted how Maxwell had talked them into giving Epstein massages which turned sexual, luring them with gifts and promises about how Epstein could use his money and connections to help them. Maxwell's lawyers have tried to portray their client as a positive influence on other inmates in jail, offering to teach them yoga and help them learn English. The crimes of Epstein, who mixed with some of the world's most famous people, were first reported in the media in 2005 and he served prison time in Florida in 2008-09 on a state charge of procuring a minor for prostitution. Following numerous lawsuits, he was arrested again in 2019 in a federal case in New York. At least eight women wrote letters to the judge describing how they had suffered. Victims speak of their pain In her written victim impact statement, Ms Farmer said: "For a long time, I wanted to erase from my mind the crimes that Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein committed against me and pretend they hadn't happened. "I didn't talk about it for years. It was the type of dark memory that feels safest to keep locked away, and so I did the best I could. The world did not cooperate with this strategy, however. "Something would bring to mind this experience and my body would respond with an upset stomach and physical shakiness. I'd feel irritable, have trouble focusing, and feel disoriented... "One of the most painful and ongoing impacts of Maxwell and Epstein's abuse was a loss of trust in myself, my perceptions, and my instincts." Virginia Giuffre wrote: "Ghislaine, 22 years ago, in the summer of 2000, you spotted me at the Mar-a-Lago Hotel in Florida, and you made a choice. You chose to follow me and procure me for Jeffrey Epstein. "Together, you damaged me physically, mentally, sexually, and emotionally....Without question, Jeffrey Epstein was a terrible paedophile. But I never would have met Jeffrey Epstein if not for you. For me, and for so many others, you opened the door to hell". A woman referred to in court as "Kate" wrote in her statement: "The consequences of what Ghislaine Maxwell did have been far reaching for me. "I have struggled with, and eventually triumphed over, substance use disorder. I have suffered panic attacks and night terrors, with which I still struggle. I have suffered low self esteem, loss of career opportunities. I have battled greatly with feeling unable to trust my own instincts in choosing romantic relationships. "What happened to me at that young age changed the course of my life drastically forever." Another accuser, Juliette Bryant, wrote that she had never felt okay since the day Maxwell and Epstein "got their hands" on her. "Thinking about them still gives me frequent panic attacks and night terrors," she said. "All of the victims, including myself, are eternally grateful for everyone that has helped expose these criminals."

  16. Hearthstone, like most trading card games, is fundamentally about throwing down monsters and crashing their stats into each other. (It's also a game about making your opponent tilt off the face off the Earth by dealing a bazillion damage from hand, but that's a longer article.) So it continues to amuse me how the designers are able to come up with convoluted thematic reasons for that stat crashing, be it yearlong narratives about a plucky band of Mercenaries or, more recently, a journey to the bottom of the sea to be menaced by the fish folk. Hearthstone's next foray into storytelling via combat maths will be Murder at Castle Nathria, which from the initial batch of cards and accompanying fluff sounds like Team 5's take on stuff like Knives Out and Clue. "Sire Denathrius—former leader of Revendreth—has invited his enemies as guests to his Castle for an elegant dinner soiree," writes Blizzard. "The evening is going swimmingly… until suddenly, the Sire himself is murdered!" The set is out on August 2 and will comprise 135 cards, of which we're told 10 will be legendary 'suspects'—one per class, each with a motive to unearth. (I have to confess I have no idea how said sleuthing will happen, or in what form the eventual murderer will be revealed.) Mechanically, we're getting a new type of card and a new 'Keyword'. Location cards are placed on the board like minions, but have a buff which can be activated once per turn (but can't be proc'd on the turn they're played). Like weapons, they have a limited durability which decreases with each activation. Infuse is the new keyword, which involves drinking in the lost 'anima' when a minion dies until the card transforms into a more powerful version of itself. Blizzard says: "Hold these cards in your hand until they’re fully infused—the transformation comes with completely new artwork." To celebrate the new set, all players will be given the neutral legendary card Prince Renethal as a login reward, which is live now. He's a 3-Mana 3/4 with text that reads: "Your deck size and starting Health are 40." More Health is obviously a good thing, but being able to include more cards is actually a down side unless you're playing a deck very specifically designed to go incredibly long. But Tim, surely having more cards is also better? No. It's actually one of the noob lessons you eventually learn while playing card games. The smaller the deck, the more consistently you will draw into your strongest cards. A bigger deck invariably means including weaker choices which you're less happy to draw. Anyway, with that vital life lesson over, I will close by saying I love the crime theme and spooky Hearthstone is often the best Hearthstone. I mean come on, if Murloc Holmes isn't the single greatest pun in Blizzard history, I don't know what is. (This is not an invitation.) The old art was better though. I've embedded the cards revealed so far below, and you can find all the usual pre-order info for Murder at Castle Nathria over at the official site. There will also be a dev stream hosted by streamer Brian Kibler and game designer Leo Robles Gonzalez on Friday, July 1, at 11am PST on Twitch and Youtube, where they'll go into more depth about the new mechanics.
