Las Vegas. El Chevrolet Corvette 2020 está programado para llegar a nuestro mercado en el segundo trimestre del año, el precio inicial es de $1,999,000 pesos y sin embargo la producción destinada a nuestro mercado para este año, ya se agotó. Tanto el exterior, como el interior están inspirados en los jets de combate, y aunque mucho se ha hablado que en ciertos ángulos se parece demasiado a un Ferrari e incluso en otros a un Lamborghini, lo cual de cierta manera tiene algo de verdad, el nuevo Corvette 2020 sí tiene una personalidad propia. Los trazos son muy marcados y dramáticos, las entradas de aire tanto del frontal, como de los costados son muy grandes, una necesidad, para proveer de aire al motor y demás componentes mecánicos, en el costado las cosas se vuelven un poco más limpias y destaca la ausencia de una manija para abrir la puerta, hay un pequeño botón ubicado debajo del saliente que luego se convierte en la entrada de aire lateral. Es ancho, muy bajo y en general luce bastante atlético, mientras que en la parte trasera encontramos las clásicas calaveras dobles, aunque también con un estilo muy dramático. Rematan las salidas de escape dobles casi cuadradas que, por cierto, emiten una nota adictiva. El alerón posterior seccionado en dos tiene la capacidad de generar unos 180 kilos de carga aerodinámica cuando el auto rueda a una velocidad de 290 km/h. Un detalle interesante es que no solo cuenta con una cajuela frontal suficiente para una maleta carry on y un back pack, sino que atrás, tiene otra que permite acomodar el toldo cuando lo desmontas, o bien, dos bolsas de palos de golf. En conjunto, ambos espacios ofrecen una capacidad de 357 litros. Este nuevo chasis de aluminio tiene como columna vertebral el túnel de la transmisión, mismo que es extremadamente robusto, esto permitió aumentar la rigidez estructural, y al mismo tiempo mantener el característico techo desmontable. Bajo la tapa del motor se deja ver un nuevo V8 small block de 6.2 litros denominado LT2 de aspiración natural que entrega 495 hp y 470 lb-pie de torque cuando se trata del paquete Performance Z51 que es la versión que llega a México, ya que las variantes de entrada genran 5 hp menos, esta mecánica fue desarrollada para entregar mucho par a bajo régimen y mantener los niveles de respuesta en toda la banda de revoluciones. La transmisión ahora es de doble clutch y ocho velocidades, promete cambios a velocidades de relámpago, sin dejar de entregar los niveles de confort y refinamiento que todo auto americano debe entregar en condiciones de manejo citadino. Algo que por lo menos en nuestro primer contacto, pudimos constatar. Regresando a las versiones que llegan a México, el paquete Z51, un sistema de frenos más grande, kit aerodinámico, sistema de enfriamiento más capaz, suspensión más deportiva, así como diferencial de derrape limitado. Con todos estos componentes adicionales, el Corvette Stingray 2020 es capaz de hacer un 0 – 60 mph (96 km/h) en 2.9 segundos. Por su parte, el tope de gama es el Z51 Performance Package, que agrega una nueva generación de la suspensión adaptativa magnética. Esta nueva generación es capaz de leer mejor el camino gracias a unos nuevos acelerómetros montados en cada amortiguador, asimismo su electrónica mejorada le permite reaccionar más rápido. Siguiendo con el equipamiento adicional, el sistema ESP tiene un modo Performance que permite al conductor jugar más con el eje trasero sin perder la red de seguridad, adicionalmente, en el interior encontramos insertos en fibra de carbono, volante forrado en alcántara y asientos de competencia GT2. Por otra parte, la suspensión se puede elevar 40 mm cuando es necesario, como al entrar a una rampa o pasar un tope y el Corvette es capaz de guardar a través del GPS, la ubicación en donde el conductor eligió elevarla, para que la siguiente vez que circule por ahí, el vehículo se eleve de forma automática. Mas impresionante aun, es que es capaz de salvar hasta 1,000 ubicaciones y accionarlo a velocidades de hasta 38.6 km/h. Por cierto, esta tecnología viene de serie en ambas versiones. En otros temas no menos relevantes, el Corvette 2020 representa un salto cuántico en el interior, si bien el C7 ya era un producto muy bien logrado en ese sentido, ahora, Chevrolet logró darle una atmósfera de auto verdaderamente exótico. El clúster es digital de 12”, y a un costado tiene una pantalla táctil de 8” compatible con Carplay y Android Auto, hay también head up display, sistema de audio Bose Performance System de 14 bocinas que promete fidelidad y calidad del más alto nivel. Por último, el Performance Data Recorder también evoluciona, ahora aportará mayor información específica de los circuitos, mientras que la telemetría es más completa que antes y la grabaciones son en alta definición 1080p.

Joe Biden's presidential campaign has distanced itself from his assertions he was arrested in South Africa while trying to visit Nelson Mandela. Mr Biden has said he was arrested during a trip to the country in the 1970s, when it was under apartheid. But a deputy campaign manager told reporters he had been referring to an episode where he was separated from black colleagues at an airport. He is third in the race for the Democrats' presidential nomination. He first made the assertion at an event in South Carolina earlier this month, reminiscing about his personal history with Mandela, South Africa's first black president who died in 2013. Mr Biden - at the time a senator for Delaware - said he had been visiting the country with a delegation of American officials, and had planned to visit Mandela in prison. But during the trip, Mr Biden said he had "had the great honour of being arrested with our UN ambassador on the streets of Soweto" while trying to reach the civil rights leader on Robben Island. The town of Soweto is more than 760 miles (1,223km) from Robben Island. At a black history awards brunch in Las Vegas last week, he also said Mandela had thanked him for his efforts. "He threw his arms around me and said, 'I want to say thank you,'" Mr Biden told onlookers. "I said, 'What are you thanking me for, Mr President?' He said: 'You tried to see me. You got arrested trying to see me.'" Mr Biden's account of what happened has been rebuffed by Andrew Young, a former US ambassador to the UN, who says he travelled with Mr Biden to South Africa. Local media have also failed to find any evidence of an arrest being made. On Tuesday Mr Biden's deputy campaign manager, Kate Bedingfield, told reporters Mr Biden had been referring to an incident when "he was separated from his party at Johannesburg airport". "They, he was not allowed to go through the same door that the - the rest of the party he was with," said Ms Bedingfield. "Obviously, it was apartheid South Africa. There was a white door, there was a black door. He did not want to go through the white door and have the rest of the party go through the black door. He was separated." As expected, Intel has launched its 2nd Generation Xeon Scalable 'Cascade Lake' Refresh family with several new SKUs offering higher core, thread, cache counts at better perf/dollar ratios to compete against AMD's 2nd Gen EPYC Rome CPUs. The new processors retain the 14nm process node which is now in its more advanced form to date, offering Intel to boost up the clock speeds even further. All across the board, we can see a boost in clocks, cores, threads, and cache which is a nice initiative by Intel to retain their server dominance with a market share of around 95%. Aside from that, the Gold series offers more competitive prices that may in fact put more pressure on sales figures for the Platinum lineup. All of the said chips are available starting today so they will show up on retail stores rather soon. This refresh further confirms the reports of delays we are hearing regarding Intel's Cooper Lake and Ice Lake Xeon processors which have been pushed back by up to 3 months due to various instability issues. This would further increase the pressure on Intel as their 10nm and 14nm Xeon processors would be directly competing against AMD's 7nm+ EUV based EPYC Milan lineup which is going to feature the brand new Zen 3 core architecture which is confirmed to be one of AMD's biggest architectural upgrade since the original Zen core. But recent benchmarks have shown that the next-generation Xeon Scalable family is pushing some serious performance figures which if true might totally be worth the wait.

A photo of a baby panda tumbling head first off a platform has taken the world by storm. The panda, one of 23 baby bears, was placed on a platform as researchers at China’s Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding prepared to showcase them to world, according to an ABC affiliate site. While the other little bears appear to be snoozing during the photography session, one curious baby panda got a bit ahead of itself. The poor thing is seen toppling over the side of the green platform as a researcher rushes forward. I’m sure the baby is just fine, however, as the platform doesn't seem to be elevated more than a foot or so from the ground. Despite the researcher's rescue attempt, it is clear the panda hit the ground before being caught. While it's slightly heart wrenching, it's also apparent all the babies are being well-cared for and are content with their moment in the spotlight. Photographers zoomed in on the resting babies as they lazily yawned for the camera. The adorable photos are circulating the internet as we all "oh" and "awe" over the tiny bears. Thanks to the Chengdu Research Base's conservation efforts, pandas have been removed from the endangered species list to be named as a vulnerable species instead. The Chengdu Research Base operates the world's largest artificial breeding program that is responsible for the birth of these new pandas seen pictured. While panda numbers are increasing, the species still faces habitat loss and destruction. However bleak the panda's environmental situation may be, their numbers have seen a steady rise in recent years. As you can see, crowds gathered to witness the unveiling of China's latest panda additions as they were proudly displayed to show the Chengdu Research Base's success. I'm sure having one of the baby pandas caught on camera as it tumbled off the stage wasn't in the plans, but all seems to be fine despite the minor mishap. Plus, it gained the babies a worldwide audience as they made their first appearance.

Por fin, la segunda generación de la Audi Q3 está en nuestro país, un modelo de gran importancia para la firma en nuestro mercado, puesto que genera un volumen bastante interesante. Si te preguntabas las causas del retraso en los lanzamientos recientes de Audi, esto se debe al nuevo proceso de homologación que entró en vigor, la marca antes podía solicitar a planta la fabricación de las unidades y homologar los productos a la par, ahora no es así, ningún auto se fabrica si la central no tiene antes los documentos de homologación y este cambio ha impactado muchísimo la rapidez con que Audi puede traer sus nuevos lanzamientos. Sin embargo, lo anterior es solo una parte de la película, ya que la caída del segmento premium el año pasado fue del 11%, pasando de 67,670 unidades en 2019 a 60,248 en 2019. Es decir, el mercado de lujo cayó más que el de volumen, incertidumbre económica y la inseguridad que prevalece en todo el país son las principales causas. Pero regresando a lo que hoy nos ocupa, la nueva Audi Q3 2020, llega con dos motorizaciones, sorpresivamente el nuevo 1.5 litros turbo que ya está disponible en el nuevo Audi A1 2020 no está dentro de las opciones. La razón, nuevamente el tema de las homologaciones, el esperar por ese motor habría retrasado aún más el lanzamiento de un producto estratégico para Audi en nuestro país, entonces en la parte baja tenemos a la Q3 35 TFSI con el viejo conocido cuatro cilindros 1.4T de 150 hp y 184 lb-pie de torque asociado a una caja S-Tronic de doble embrague y seis velocidades que envía la potencia al tren delantero. Mientras que en la parte alta está la Q3 40 TFSI que emplea un 2.0 turbo con 180 hp y 236 lb-pie de torque asociado a una transmisión también S-Tronic de doble clutch pero con siete cambios que envía la potencia a las cuatro ruedas. Al adoptar la plataforma MQB, la nueva Audi Q3 2020 crece en dimensiones, es 96 mm más larga, 77 más grande en cuanto a distancia entre ejes. Las medidas quedan así: 4,484 mm largo, 1,849 mm de ancho y 1,856 mm de alto. Por su parte, la distancia entre ejes es de 2,680 mm. La ganancia parece no ser muy grande, pero gracias a un mejor aprovechamiento del espacio interior, la banca trasera es mucho más amplia que antes, sin considerar que se puede recorrer hasta en 150 mm, ya sea para dejar más espacio para las piernas de los ocupantes posteriores o ganar espacio de carga. Ya que hablamos de la cajuela, la capacidad es de 525 litros que pueden crecer hasta 625 cuando se recorre la banca lo más adelante posible, mientras que, al abatir el respaldo de los asientos de atrás, el espacio se incrementa hasta 1,525 litros. Puertas adentro, nos recibe una cabina muy ad hoc con lo que ha presentado la marca en los últimos tiempos, trazos rectos y un marcado protagonismo para la pantalla central de info – entretenimiento que para nuestro mercado es de 8.8 pulgadas y cuenta tanto con Android Auto como Apple Carplay, mientras que el virtual cockpit de serie es de 10.25”, aunque de manera opcional se puede elegir el de 12.3”. Como siempre, tanto la calidad de ensamble, como los acabados no tienen queja, e incluso encontramos algunos insertos en alcántara (pueden ser café, gris o naranja) que tanto en tablero como puertas que le dan una apariencia y tacto muy agradables, al tiempo que evitan el abuso de las superficies en negro piano. En cuanto al equipamiento, evidentemente hay cambios dependiendo de la versión, pero encontramos climatizador automático de dos zonas con salidas de aire para los pasajeros traseros, cargador por inducción, techo panorámico, así como acceso y arranque mediante llave inteligente como los elementos más destacados. En este primer contacto en México, solo estaba disponible la Q3 35 TFSI, es decir, con mecánica de 1.4 litros, para saber cómo se desempeña la variante 2.0 litros habrá que esperar a mayo, cuando Audi lance la nueva Q3 Sportback, y que, para efectos de acciones con prensa, serán las que estén disponibles con el motor más potente. No hay sorpresas aquí, este tren motor es ya un viejo conocido y lo hemos probado en distintas aplicaciones, tanto de Audi, como de SEAT o Volkswagen. Pese a que es un conjunto mecánico algo veterano, la capacidad de respuesta es buena y salvo por el ya conocido turbolag que tiene el 1.4 turbo, el funcionamiento, sobre todo en el rango medio de revoluciones es excelente. Audi eligió la ruta de Guadalajara a Puerto Vallarta para que tuviéramos oportunidad de probar a fondo su nueva Q3 2020, el primer tramo, como es probable que sepas es de autopistas, en donde pudimos constatar una vez más que si bien, el ajuste de la suspensión está más orientado a la comodidad, es perfectamente capaz de controlar al vehículo a muy altas velocidades, la Q3 va muy bien plantada y transmite mucha confianza. La dirección también retroalimenta adecuadamente y en lo general el refinamiento es muy bueno, particularmente el aislamiento acústico es destacado. Ya en la segunda parte del recorrido, los camiones y semáforos te pueden hacer olvidar que el camino ofrece algunos tramos de [CENSORED]s bastante complejos y que en un auto con buenas credenciales, pueden ser bastante divertidos. La Audi Q3 demostró que es capaz de entrar a caminos sinuosos con mucho aplomo, la tendencia natural es a subvirar, pero el límite es bastante más elevado de lo que pensarías en primera instancia, y cuando se presenta, es muy fácil de corregir, basta soltar un poco el acelerador para solucionarlo (dentro de los límites de la física claro está). Aun cuando se trata de la versión de tracción delantera, el agarre es bueno y te hace olvidar que el centro de gravedad es más elevado.

The Intel 10th Gen Core i9-10900 ES desktop CPU with 10 cores and 20 threads has been acquired and benchmarked by XFastest. The same chip was pictured recently by the tech outlet, promising us benchmarks in the coming weeks and now we get to look at what 10 cores and 20 threads from Intel have to offer us compared to the competition. Intel Core i9-10900 ES 10 Core & 20 Thread Comet Lake-S Desktop CPU Benchmarked Starting with the specifications, the Intel Core i9-10900 would reportedly feature 10 cores and 20 threads. It comes with a base clock of 2.8 GHz and a boost clock of up to 5.0 GHz with Turbo Boost, 5.1 GHz with Turbo Boost Max and 5.2 GHz with Thermal Velocity Boost. This chip features 20 MB of cache and has a TDP of 65W (PL1) at base frequency but the PL2 frequency would be a lot higher since this is a 10 core chip we are talking about. The chip that XFastest benchmark is an engineering sample and comes with a lower base clock of 2.50 GHz as mentioned on the IHS. The ES chip also ran at much lower boost frequencies of 3.2 GHz boost across all 10 cores and 20 threads and 4.4 GHz boost in single-core workloads. It looks to be a very early sample and as such, the performance of this chip should not be compared to the final product which launches in a few months. Intel Core i9-10900 10 Core ES Desktop CPU Benchmarks Coming to the benchmarks, the chip scored 1670 points in multi-thread and 182 points in the single-thread Cinebench R15 benchmark. In Cinebench R20, the same CPU scored 3714 points within the multi-thread and 441 points in the single-thread tests. The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed concern at the number of coronavirus cases with no clear link to China or other confirmed cases. Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus's comments follow Iran's announcement of two more deaths, bringing the total there to four. The window of opportunity to contain the virus was "narrowing", he said. Iranian health officials said the virus may already be in "all Iran's cities". Outside China 1,152 cases of the virus have been confirmed in 26 countries and there have been eight deaths. They include two in South Korea, which has the biggest cluster of confirmed cases apart from China and a cruise ship quarantined in Japan. China has reported 75,567 cases including 2,239 deaths. The new virus, which originated last year in Hubei province in China, causes a respiratory disease called Covid-19. What did the WHO chief say? Dr Tedros said the number of coronavirus cases outside China was "relatively small" but the pattern of infection was worrying. "We are concerned about the number of cases with no clear epidemiological link, such as travel history to or contact with a confirmed case," he said. Hundreds of passengers who tested negative for the new coronavirus have begun leaving a quarantined cruise ship in Japan amid heavy criticism over the country's handling of the outbreak. The US, Canada, Australia and the UK will place all those released from the ship in another 14 days' quarantine when they return home.
