  1. Sony has invited a number of Japanese publications and YouTubers to get a closer look at the PlayStation 5. It’s the first time we’ve seen the PS5 hardware outside of leaked images from Taiwan’s National Communications Commission. A variety of publications have now published detailed hands-on images and videos of the PS5, providing a more realistic look at how big the console is and gameplay of titles like Astro’s Playroom and Godfall. 4gamer has published photos of the PS5 standing both vertically and horizontally, demonstrating how the stand works in either position to hold the console in place. Some photos also show how the PS5 will cool itself, and 4gamer notes that it wasn’t able to hear the fan inside the console or feel much heat exhausting from it during its limited time with the hardware. Although these PS5 previews are clearly in a very limited environment, one of 4gamer’s photos does reveal a mysterious silver latch or bolt hidden inside the top-right section of the PS5. Sony has said PS5 owners will be able to expand storage with regular SSD drives in this new console, but we’ve yet to see how this will work in reality. This latch could be how you access the ability to expand PS5 storage, with it presumably allowing the side to be removed. There’s no other obvious way to slot an SSD into the PS5, but we’re still waiting on Sony to confirm how it will handle expandable storage. We’ve known for weeks that the PS5 is the biggest console in modern history, and Dengeki Online helps put that into perspective with a shot of the PS5 next to a large TV. It’s clear if you want the PS5 to sit vertically in a TV stand then you might need to clear some room, or use the console horizontally. The PS5 laying flat looks like it should fit into most TV stands. Most of the videos don’t show the PS5 in too much detail, as they’re largely focused on gameplay. One from Famitsu’s YouTube channel does offer a brief look at the hardware up close. Alongside the console itself, these Japanese publications and YouTubers also got a closer look at the new DualSense controller. This new design includes haptic feedback (replacing the old rumble technology) and adaptive triggers that can adjust the resistance of the triggers for different gameplay effects. Sony has even included a microphone, alongside a USB-C. We’ve seen Sony demonstrate the PS5’s pack-in game, Astro’s Playroom, a number of times before, and the company has used it again during these hands-on videos to highlight the DualSense controller features. AV watch also reports that the confirm button on the PS5 will be X instead of O going forward, which means Japanese players are going to have to retrain their body’s muscle memory to get used to that significant change. There’s little else to report on the controller just yet, but 4gamer does provide a good look at the different colorful LEDs on the DualSense. None of the videos of publications were able to show the PlayStation 5 dashboard or UI elements, unfortunately. These remain a mystery, despite Sony teasing what appeared to be the boot experience or main PS5 dashboard all the way back in June. Sony has also promised a fully redesigned PS5 dashboard with “no pixel untouched.” We’re still waiting to see exactly what Sony does with the new PS5 UI, and hopefully we’ll get a glimpse at it before the November 12th launch date.

  10. Free screen recorders have come a long way in recent years, and there are now some very impressive tools available that can capture everything that's happening on your screen completely free, and without any frustrating limitations. The best free screen recorder is OBS Studio. A remarkable program with a feature set that rivals those of the more premium tools, it can not only record everything happening on your desktop, but also capture footage from your webcam and use it for picture-in-picture video, and even record audio from a microphone. It also gives you the option to save the results in a format of your choice, or stream them via the service of your choice. Still, while OBS Studio is certainly an ideal choice for professionals and gamers alike, there are other capable options that are worth looking into. If you only need to capture a few minutes of footage, a more straightforward tool might be all you need. So, we've rounded up the very best free screen recorders for all projects and levels of experience. Whether you're making a software tutorial for your YouTube channel, recording a Let's Play video, or capturing a video call, there's something here that'll fit the bill. If you’re a keen gamer, OBS Studio is easily the best free screen recorder for you. Unlike the hugely po[CENSORED]r FRAPS (which only lets you record for 30 seconds at a stretch unless you’ve bought a license, and applies a watermark to the resulting footage), OBS Studio is open source, and completely free to use without restrictions. OBS Studio supports both streaming and recording in high definition, with no restrictions on the number or length of your creations. You can stream live to Twitch or YouTube gaming, save projects and come back to them later, or encode your footage in FLV format and save it locally. Because OBS Studio can record directly from your graphics card, it’s able to capture games running in full-screen mode (many other screen recorders can only record if the game is windowed), with customizable hotkeys to control the recording. OBS Studio can also make full use of multi-core CPUs for improved performance, and can record at 60FPS (or even higher). It might take a little while to set it up exactly how you want, but OBS Studio is by far the best and most powerful screen recorder for gamers. OBS Studio is our favorite free screen recorder, but Flashback Express comes an extremely close second. Despite being a free version of a paid program, FlashBack Express won't put ugly watermarks over your recordings or impose time limits, and it's packed with features and tools that rival many premium programs. Its interface is less intimidating than OBS Studio, so if you've never used a screen recorder before, it's an excellent choice. You can record from your whole screen, a window, a selected area, or a webcam. Once you’ve finished, your recording will appear in a simple editor, where you can crop and trim it to suit your needs, then export it to YouTube, an FTP server, or your PC. That’s all fairly standard fare for a free screen recorder, but take a minute to dive into Flashback’s advanced options and you’ll find a wealth of thoughtfully designed settings that will make your desktop recordings look truly professional. The recorder can automatically obscure passwords entered on screen, replace your silly wallpaper with a plain one, hide messy desktop icons, and highlight your mouse pointer to make it easier to follow. There's also a dedicated gaming mode that lets you define the number of frames recorded per second. There’s no limit on the length of your recordings unless you choose to set one, which can be useful if there’s a chance you might accidentally leave the recorder running. You can also choose to break long recordings up into chunks – a brilliant touch that helps you avoid creating huge, unwieldy files. Your recordings won’t be watermarked, either. Following a recent update, Flashback Express can export in WMV, AVI and MP4 formats, eliminating the need for a separate video converter, and it no longer requires a free license key for activation – just install the software and you're ready to start recording. Developer Blueberry Software has also released a free screen recorder designed specifically for games – FBX. This recorder captures HD in-game footage, with hardware acceleration for AMD and Nvidia cards, and Intel CPUs. If you're thinking about upgrading to FlashBack Pro, Blueberry software is offering TechRadar readers an exclusive 25% discount. If you want to record a presentation, software demonstration or tutorial, give Apowersoft Free Online Screen Recorder a try. This browser-based tool may not be suitable for games, but it’s the best free screen recorder for any other tasks. The first time you use Apowersoft Free Online Screen Recorder, you'll be prompted to download a small launcher application. You'll then be provided with a control bar packed with more options than you'll find in most desktop screen recording software. You can capture footage from your desktop or a webcam, and record audio from your PC, microphone, both or neither. You can record the whole screen, select an area manually or choose one of the preset resolutions – ideal if you’re recording a clip for YouTube, for example, and don’t want to use a separate video editor to resize it later. Apowersoft Free Online Screen Recorder also offers customizable keyboard shortcuts for speed and convenience. You can choose whether or not to include the cursor in the recording and take your pick from a range of output formats including MP4, WMV, AVI, MOV and many more. You can even add annotations during the recording. Once you’re done, you can save the recording as a video file or GIF, upload it directly to YouTube or Vimeo, or send it to Google Drive or Dropbox. You can also edit the clip. Selecting this option will download an additional component – Apowersoft Video Editor – which lets you make simple adjustments before exporting your video in your preferred format. A truly exceptional tool. Note that the 'Download desktop version' button links to a program called Apowersoft Screen Recorder Pro. This is a trial version of a premium application, and is more limited than Online Screen Recorder.
  11. One of the primary reasons that NVIDIA decided to go with the Samsung 8nm process was because the company would allow them to overcome the capacity constraints inherent in buying from TSMC. Unfortunately for gamers, however, Anthony over at Tweak Town is reporting that stock is going to be scarce until the end of the year and if you want in on the Ampere GPU craze before then, you better preorder. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3000 Series 'Ampere' GPUs to be in short supply till the end of the year The reason that Anthony's sources gave was that NVIDIA is unsure of the maximum yield of Samsung's process and considering the clear performance advantage they have over basically everything, they want to (voluntarily) reduce the numbers of wafers produced till yield can be maximized at Samsung's end. This is a very sensible business decision but could ultimately end up jacking up prices for the RTX 30 series way above the MSRP as people pre-order the limited supply and then resell at much higher rates to indulge in some profit-taking. Here is the relevant extract from Anthony's report: But there is one story I wanted to sit down and make sure I wrote, and that was from an industry source who told me that post-launch there will be "no stock will be available till the end of the year". The first wave of cards is said to be small, very, very small -- possibly the smallest launch in many years. Another source had something much more damning to say, but I want to flesh that out before I write it. For now, I'm being told stock will be extremely low for the next couple of months. Why? Samsung 8nm yields are unknown at this point, NVIDIA might not want to make too many before the yields improve. Read the full article here. The NVIDIA RTX 3000 series is a hugely triumphant moment for the company. Every single card announced including the RTX 3070 is more powerful than the flagship of the previous generation: the RTX 2080 Ti. The last time this happened was back in 2004. NVIDIA has offered a massive price over performance discount this generation with the RTX 3070 beating the 2080 Ti, the RTX 3080 doubling the performance for the same price and the RTX 3090 being the undisputed performance king. It is unlikely that AMD's big Navi will be able to go toe to toe with this level of performance enhancement and I am sure NVIDIA has SKUs up its sleeve that they will roll out as soon as AMD's big Navi launches. Anthony also reports that AMD thinks that releasing big Navi will just drag the company down into a rabbit hole of unnecessary costs (R&D) and they might push back the launch of the anxiously anticipated card once again. Regardless of what happens, Ampere is set to revolutionize the industry and with the Samsung 8nm node, there should be enough cards for everyone - you just have to wait till 2021 if this report turns out to be true.

  13. We are not racists. We are talking about our rights. Neither you, nor anyone else has experienced any of the moments we lived and are living in right now. You did not feel the death of the dearest people who were in your heart in your hands, and their blood was bleeding on your clothes, and you could not do anything with it, and you did not sleep in the streets and there are rockets striking over the head and demolishing homes on the heads of children and women. You have not experienced this feeling and want us to forget our right to the land that they took from us and killed our loved ones, remain silent and do not talk about things that you do not know and have not lived. Please don't talk about this thing. We are here to play, forget our grief and make new friends that we can be proud of. I ask you to close this discussion because it has nothing to do with this request . Please give your opinion on the Reqasut and ask me about the projects and nothing else thank you very much
  14. Yes, I respect all religions hostile to Palestine and its people, but to them they are occupiers and it is permissible to kill him, and you and I were talking about Israel to Palestine, not to land in Palestine to land in Palestine. That we will kill him ... Because they are occupiers of the land Go to Google and write about Palestine and who occupies it, and you will know all the details. Greetings to you . @#Loenex

  16. Okay, time to take a deep breath. This could have been worse. It could have been much, much worse. In fact, only a couple months ago it was much, much worse. In July 2020, Canada’s auto industry revealed a number of very positive signs. In certain instances, it’s nothing more than a brand reporting sales declines that aren’t quite as bad as they were second-quarter 2020, during the worst of the COVID-19 shutdowns. But in other cases, there are auto brands producing best-ever results. Granted, given the fact more than two-thirds of auto brands no longer report monthly results – quarterly only reports for the majority, unfortunately – we’re basing this positivity on only 10 brands. It’s an informative group of 10, however — they account for roughly 40 per cent of the Canadian market. Collectively, these 10 brands were down 30 per cent through the first seven months of the year, a terrible result by any standard. Yet in July, the same group posted only a slight year-over-year decrease of just three per cent, a loss of fewer than 2,000 sales.
  17. It was the 1980s and Pranab Mukherjee, then a minister in the Indira Gandhi cabinet, had been wearing the same shirt for three consecutive days until the prime minister herself pointed it out amusingly. Indira Gandhi not just moulded Mukherjee politically but also introduced him to the "lifestyle" of being a politician in the capital, says his long-time friend and journalist Jayanta Ghoshal. "Indira Gandhi used to love him. She once asked him why he hadn't changed his shirt in three days, and when Pranab babu told his wife Suvra Mukherjee about the conversation, she felt vindicated about her complaints that he didn't have a dressing sense. His wife has recounted this incident in her book, 'Indira Gandhi in my Eyes'," says Ghoshal. Mukherjee, the 13th President of India, died at the Army's Research and Referral Hospital here on Monday at the age of 84. The journalist first met Mukherjee in 1985 at the latter's south Kolkata residence as a junior reporter in the Bengali daily 'Bartaman'. Young and enthusiastic, Ghoshal would accompany the politician on each of his trips to various districts in West Bengal, gaining political knowledge on the way. Ghoshal told PTI, "Mrs Gandhi actually moulded him in areas like lifestyle.... He was from a village in West Bengal and from a family with extremely humble means." Among other things that Mukherjee learnt to do "the Delhi-way" was his politics. According to Ghoshal , he was never a mass leader, but a "Delhi-style" politician. "He was like Chanakya — a crisis manager, a negotiator.” But, Mukherjee seemed to know where to draw the lines between adapting a new way of life and letting it detach oneself from his roots. His Bengali-ness would come across in his everyday life, like in his newspaper preferences. "...he would read Ananda Bazaar Patrika...that was his first choice. It didn't mean he didn't read English newspapers but he never wanted to leave his Bong identity,” Ghoshal said. A teetotaller, Mukherjee also preferred reading Bengali novels in the quiet of his house over hobnobbing at social gatherings in the Lutyens' circle. “In the media fraternity, we used to say that the foreign ministry was all about 'alcohol and protocol', and then he became the foreign minister...he never even drank a sip of wine. “He was never a person who would go to fancy Delhi parties. Instead, he would come back home and read. I remember seeing a Bengali novel by Tarashankar Bandyopadhyay by his bedside during a visit to his house,” Ghoshal said. It was this knack for reading that was responsible for his "encyclopaedic" memory, recalls Gautam Lahiri, another senior journalist who had his first interaction with Mukherjee in 1982 as a cub reporter. Then the finance minister, Mukherjee had called up Lahiri over a news report he had filed and explained why he thought there was a problem with the story. That was the beginning of a life-long friendship between the two. “I used to travel with him across Bengal as a journalist, and after work we would chat about politics and history of Bengal. He was like a living Google search — he would always have a ready answer,” the journalist said. Lahiri, who has also written a book on Mukherjee's five-decade long political career, said he, by nature, was a teacher. "If you asked him a genuine question, then he would reply with all details and perspective, just like a teacher would teach a classroom,” he said. Lahiri's last conversation with Mukherjee was earlier this year, when the latter was planning a trip to Bangladesh to visit the ancestral homes of freedom fighters of Bengal.
  18. Facebook said Australian users will no longer be able to post news stories on its platforms in protest of proposed media bargaining legislation. “Assuming this draft code becomes law, we will reluctantly stop allowing publishers and people in Australia from sharing local and international news on Facebook and Instagram,” Managing Director of Facebook Australia and New Zealand, Will Easton, said in a statement. “This is not our first choice – it is our last. But it is the only way to protect against an outcome that defies logic and will hurt, not help, the long-term vibrancy of Australia’s news and media sector.” The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) proposed its code of conduct in late July. These laws would see Australian news organisations bargain with digital platforms like Facebook and Google to receive remuneration for news content shared on their platforms. It also seeks to give news companies greater access to the machinations of ranking algorithms and data the platforms harvest about news readers. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg said the government would not back down in its legislation. "Australia makes laws that advance our national interest," he said in a statement. "We don't respond to coercion or heavy handed threats wherever they come from. "These reforms will help create a more sustainable media landscape and see payment for original content." But Easton said the government's solution was "counterproductive” to its goal of securing greater competition in the Australian news media landscape. "The proposed law is unprecedented in its reach and seeks to regulate every aspect of how tech companies do business with news publishers,” Easton said. Facebook has already slated an update to its terms of service for 1 October. Under section 3.2 of its new terms of service, Facebook will be able to “remove or restrict access to [users’] content, services or information if we determine that doing so is reasonably necessary to avoid or mitigate adverse legal or regulatory impacts to Facebook”. The US tech giant is following the lead of its Silicon Valley counterpart, Google, which began an awareness campaign last month threatening users that Google Search was “at risk” from the new laws. In its Digital Platforms Inquiry, the ACCC slammed Facebook and Google for using unfettered access to business and consumer data to create dominant market positions. “The ability to determine the content and prominence of material displayed to consumers and the power to set the terms and conditions of access to their service provide Google and Facebook with opportunities to advantage their own related businesses,” the report said. “The significant amount of data that these platforms collect, including on rival businesses, cannot be easily replicated, providing them with a competitive advantage.” That competitive advantage tied with a global pandemic has spelled disaster for Australian news businesses with hundreds of journalists axed and newsrooms closing around the country. Facebook and Google, meanwhile, have led a technology-dominated stock price surge. Last week, Facebook announced it was offering its News feature to countries outside the US. Australia was a notable absence on its list of prospective countries. “We aim to launch Facebook News in multiple countries within the next six months to a year and are considering the UK, Germany, France, India and Brazil,” Facebooks said in its announcement. “In each country, we’ll pay news publishers to ensure their content is available in the new product.”
  19. Machinarium (PC [reviewed], Mac, Linux, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, iOS, Android) Developer: Amanita Design Publisher: Amanita Design MSRP: $9.99 (PC, PS3), $6.99 (PS Vita), $1.99 (iOS, Android), $12.99 (PS4) Released: October 16, 2009 (PC, Mac, Linux), September 6, 2012 (PS3), March 26, 2013 (PS Vita) Machinarium is a game I’ve somehow managed to play through numerous times. I gave it a shot after it was free on PlayStation Plus and then grabbed it in a Humble Bundle before acquiring the PS4 copy last year. Somehow, it has become my comfort food for when I’m down and need something familiar and charming to play. Much to my surprise, I’m now reviewing Machinarium years after its debut because of its new PC update (available today), which developer Amanita Design has dubbed the “Definitive Edition.” Seeing as how I’ve almost committed the game to memory, I think I have a good understanding of why this title is so enjoyable and how this new PC version really does feel like the best way to enjoy it. Machinarium is a hyper stylized point and click adventure game. If you have any familiarity with genre classics like The Secret of Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle or even recent Telltale efforts like Back to the Future, you should have a basic understanding of how the gameplay works. You’ll be thrust into mini puzzles that occupy a single screen and task you with trying to figure out obtuse logic to combine items and move on to the next scenario. The story sees you controlling a small robot, named Josef, who is trying to free his girlfriend from the clutches of some nefarious robots inside of the Machinarium. All of this is presented without spoken dialog, mostly through cartoon bubbles that illustrate past events. It’s very cute and always amusing, even when bad things are happening. Machinarium doesn’t reinvent the genre more so than just present a different angle on it. When I first played the game, I had no idea what to expect from the title (which sounds like a horror game). After I caught a glimpse of the opening scene, though, I was hooked. The presentation of Machinarium is just plain gorgeous. Everything about this art style evokes care, effort and charm. This game looks like a painting come to life. That would only get you so far if the gameplay wasn’t enjoyable, but that isn’t a problem. Even if it followed a tried and true formula, it manages to inject its own sense of style into the puzzles that make them feel logical, instead of just plain weird. While solutions to puzzles may not be readily noticeable, you’re never asked to combine two random items or click on literally everything to figure out how to progress. A prime example of this would be one of the earlier puzzles, in which you need to guide your character into the titular compound. If you’re observant, you’ll notice that all of the guards have cone shaped heads that are painted a light blue with a light bulb on top. Surveying the immediate area, you’ll see a stack of cones, a light bulb on a lamp post and a bucket of white paint. Move some of those cones aside and you’ll find blue paint underneath, which you can mix with the white paint to give you the proper color. Then it’s just figuring out how to grab the light bulb and you’re set to enter. If you do manage to get stumped, there's a hint system for every screen. While you’re only given a single hint, most puzzles aren’t so complex as to require you to traverse multiple screens. Thankfully, Machinarium doesn’t shy away from that, but that never makes up the majority of what you’ll be doing. Puzzles are typically self-contained roadblocks that hinder immediate progress. Of the few that do ask you to travel a little, they usually involve helping some of the citizens of Machinarium. This lets the artists illustrate emotions by way of a guard who is sad over his toy bear being broken or a jazz band looking to play their instruments. You’ll witness the art and sound design come together to evoke a sense of compassion for these characters, due to either their depressed demeanor or their sad grunts. Fixing their problems feels highly rewarding, even if they aren’t real beings. I can’t neglect that the game actually does contain an entire walkthrough of itself within. If you really get stumped and just cannot figure anything out, you’ll have access to a locked book in your inventory that will explain the entirety of your current screen. Unlocking the book requires you to pass a sort of Space Invaders-esque minigame, just that it is incredibly boring. I guess you have to be punished a little for giving up so easily. Really, though, you shouldn’t find yourself that lost within the world of Machinarium. While the original PC version has issues displaying in fullscreen, this new port utilizes DirectX and more resembles the various console versions in terms of quality. The game now properly displays on higher resolution monitors (up to 4K resolution), has a zoom function, cloud saves, a plethora of various language options (including Chinese, Russian, Korean and Japanese), Steam achievements and even supports gamepads (if you’re into that sort of thing). I don't prefer to use one for Machinarium, but any Xbox 360 and Xbox One gamepads will work natively. Steam has support for DualShock 4, so that is also ready to go out of the box. If you have a different XInput pad, that should work without much fuss. Honestly, though, I feel like the mouse is the best route, seeing as how this game was created in the vein of old-school adventure titles. What is a bit odd are the few minigames you’ll encounter. While Space Invaders can be controlled with the keyboard, the very final minigame puzzle only supports mouse and it feels plain weird. You’ll move your character as if your mouse is a joystick and trying to drag the cursor to one side of the screen is sluggish. It doesn’t ruin the game, but it’s certainly not ideal. I also had a few issues with clicking on where I wanted my character to go. Machinarium has predetermined spots where you can stand, so you’ll sometimes click near a door to interact with an object only to have Josef walk into the next room. I kind of want to kick him when that happens, but there is only a single puzzle in the game that is time sensitive, so it never becomes a major problem. Even with small issues like that, Machinarium remains fun and engaging throughout its entire runtime. If you haven’t taken the plunge now would be a great time to do so. The updated PC version is free for previous owners, but any new comers can pick it up and be introduced immediately to those changes. What more could you ask for, honestly? [This review is based on a retail build of the game purchased by the reviewer, which updated into the Definitive Edition. The base game is on sale for a limited time on Steam.] Memory:1 GB. Graphics Card:NVIDIA GeForce 510. CPU:Intel Pentium 4 2.00GHz. Machinarium File Size:1 GB. OS:Microsoft® Windows® XP/Vista/7/8/10.
