Initial release date: August 30, 2018 Software developer: Sabotage Studio Engine: Unity Type: Platform game Awards: The Game Award for Best Debut Indie Game Designers: Thierry Bollinger, Philip Dion Say what you want about the ubiquity of pixel art, side-scrolling indie games, but the truth is that when done well, they're brilliant. There are a handful of good examples, like Shovel Knight, Celeste, and Freedom Planet, but The Messenger might be the easiest to recommend. This Ninja Gaiden inspired action platformer is the full package -- an engaging story, fantastic presentation, and ultra tight, highly compelling gameplay. Let's break all that down. You play as a young ninja living in a settlement on the westernmost edge of an island devastated by demons. When the threat comes knocking, a great hero comes to save the day, but he also tasks you with carrying a scroll to the peak of the mountain far to the east. With that goal in mind, you set off, but the story goes way deeper than you expect, with some surprising twists and turns delivered with style and humour. The game has real personality from the very start, and that's down to a combination of things. As mentioned, the writing is great; your journey is peppered with big moments and they're treated as such, but the self-aware jibes and fourth wall breaking jokes bring levity when things quieten down. But adding to the atmosphere is some wonderful pixel art. For reasons we won't disclose here, you'll see 8-bit and 16-bit styles, often in quick succession, and both have been very well realised. That's also the case for the music, with two versions of every catchy track swapping in depending on which bitrate you currently reside. But the real draw here is the gameplay. Your one ability at the start of the game is the cloud step, essentially a second jump earned by hitting an enemy or lantern in mid-air. It's a neat idea that presents some tricky platforming challenges on its own, but it's not long before your moveset is expanded. You'll quickly be able to perform wall jumps, use enemy projectiles to earn a cloud step, throw shuriken, and much more. You'll gather Time Shards as you explore and defeat demons, and you can spend them in the shop to unlock various upgrades. It's all very cohesive, and the shopkeeper always has some fun dialogue to read, too. What's impressive is how the game gradually opens up as you continue. Again, we won't spoil anything, but when you think you're reaching the conclusion, everything gets turned up a notch -- the story, the skill tree, and even the world map open up. The Messenger is a surprisingly big title that revels in subverting expectations. One aspect some players may not enjoy is the amount of back tracking employed later in the game. At first, it's refreshing to see areas you passed through hours ago reimagined in 16-bit, especially as the two styles also open and close certain paths, giving you more to explore. However, there does come a point where it begins to get a little tired. Elements of the game's design make it relatively easy to travel around, but there's certainly an argument that it's a little too long. However, the action is so responsive and satisfying that you may happily jump and slash your way across the island for hours. The controls are tight as a drum, and when you consider how the game builds so much from where it starts, it's hard not to be impressed by its ambition. It also runs like an absolute dream; there's no danger of bugs or dropped frames from our experience. The Messenger is a rock solid action platformer that balances out its retro stylings with modern touches and brilliantly slick controls. Blasting through the lengthy story is compelling, as new story beats and abilities are thrown into the mix. It perhaps flies a little too close to the sun later on as you hunt down the final few collectibles, but by and large, it's a cloud-stepping joy. Fans of 2D action games should have a blast with this, and that's a message we're happy to pass along. CPU: Intel core i5-4210 1.7ghz. OS: Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or newer. VIDEO CARD: Intel HD Graphics 4400. SOUND CARD: Onboard soundcard or better. FREE DISK SPACE: 1200 MB.

During a recent Republic of Gamers event, Asus showcased a bunch of high-end PC hardware decked out in Gundam digs, like the ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3090 Gundam Edition graphics card pictured above. It is a fairly fleshed out lineup covering multiple graphics cards, motherboards, keyboards, mice, and even wireless routers. Several of the products can be seen in a video on Bilibili (via @momomo_us) with an oddly satisfying piano arrangement playing in the background (better photos can be seen over at iHeat). The 3090 appears to be the same as the factory overclocked model Asus offers, with a 1,890MHz boost clock in OC mode and 1,860MHz in Gaming mode (up from Nvidia's 1.7GHz reference boost clock). The card will sell for 16,999¥ in Japan (around $2,540 in US currency), which is a pretty big markup over the regular version. Asus also unveiled a couple of other Gundam-themed graphics cards, including a GeForce GTX 1660 Super TUF Gundam and GeForce GTX 1660 Super TUF Zaku, the latter of which comes in a black and red color scheme.Diehard fans of the anime series could pair one of these stylish GPUs with other Gundam-themed components, including a Maximus XII Extreme motherboard, 850W power supply, and a 240mm or 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler, all at various marked up price points.Unfortunately, Asus is limiting availability to Japan. Some of the products are already available to purchase, however, including a Wi-Fi 6 router (available in white or red and black) and a 240mm Zaku Edition liquid cooler.Paul has been playing PC games and raking his knuckles on computer hardware since the Commodore 64. He does not have any tattoos, but thinks it would be cool to get one that reads LOAD"*",8,1. In his off time, he rides motorcycles and wrestles alligators (only one of those is true).

Although it is one of the last automotive manufacturers to add Android Auto to its vehicles, BMW is now set to bring the digitally-driven interface to approximately 750,000 cars with the iDrive 7 update. In a press release, BMW has confirmed that the iDrive 7 upgrade will be sent as an OTA update to compatible vehicles. Around three-quarters of a million BMWs are therefore set to get access to Android Auto for the first time. Another welcome aspect of this update is that you will be able to connect to your device wirelessly in-car. Google Android AutoTM will be available as a new feature following the upgrade, allowing customers to use the functions of their smartphone in the car via a wireless connection. The customer can use Google Assistant or touch operation to access their apps without having to operate their smartphone directly. Google MapsTM also shows navigation guidance in the Info Display and Head-up Display. The iDrive 7 update rollout is starting today in BMW’s German home market, with a wider rollout expected in Europe, China, the US, and Canada over the coming weeks. Customers will receive a push notification in their vehicle or via BMW App on their smartphone as soon as the upgrade is available. Following launch in the German market, it will be rolled out in stages across Europe, in the US, Canada, China and the remaining international markets. You’ll receive a notification within the BMW Connected app when the Android Auto carrying Drive 7 OTA update is available for your vehicle, which will prompt you through the installation process. Another bonus is that even with this update adding enhanced in-car entertainment possibilities and other benefits, it’s coming completely free of charge — which given the average BMW cost, is a welcome decision from the German automaker. “Age, BMI, sociodemographic and lifestyle factors, and prevalent medical conditions show independent and combined influences on sex hormone levels in a large po[CENSORED]tion-based sample of community-dwelling men,” Bu B. Yeap, FRACP, PhD, professor of medicine at the University of Western Australia, and colleagues wrote. “Given the magnitude of their associations, these factors should be considered for potential interventions and when interpreting sex hormone results.” Researchers analyzed serum total testosterone and sex hormone-binding globulin levels from a cohort of 208,677 men aged 40 to 69 years participating in the po[CENSORED]tion-based, prospective cohort UK Biobank study from 2006 to 2010. Serum total testosterone was assayed using competitive binding chemiluminescent immunoassay, whereas serum SHBG was assayed with a two-step, sandwich chemiluminescent immunoassay. Researchers calculated free testosterone using the Vermeulen method. Demographic and medication information were obtained through self-reports, and information on prevalent medical conditions came from self-reports, physical exams, blood chemistry and general practice records. concentration of 11.6 nmol/L, a median SHBG level of 36.9 nmol/L and median calculated free testosterone of 213 pmol/L. Lower serum testosterone and higher SHBG were associated with older age and higher BMI. Calculated free testosterone was lower for older participants and increased with BMI up to 25 kg/m2, at which point it decreased. Both the age and BMI associations were independent of each other. Mean testosterone was lower for participants who lived with a partner, had South Asian ethnicity and higher educational attainment. Current smokers had higher mean testosterone levels than those who previously smoked or never smoked. Vegetarians had the lowest mean testosterone concentration, followed by those who ate high amounts of red meat, low amounts of red meat, poultry, fish and no animal products. Testosterone increased with higher levels of physical activity, regardless of alcohol consumption. Mean SBHG levels were lower for men who consumed alcohol, whereas other associations between SHBG and dietary and physical activity patterns were similar to testosterone. Lower mean testosterone levels were found for men with prevalent cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, dementia, angina, renal impairment, hypertension and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease compared with those without any of those conditions. Low SHBG was associated with prevalent CVD, diabetes, angina, renal impairment and hypertension. Atrial fibrillation was the only condition associated with higher testosterone and SHBG levels. After combining several sociodemographic factors, a man of South Asian ethnicity who lived with a partner, ate a low amount of red meat, had a college or university degree and had insufficient physical activity would have a lower mean testosterone level of about 2 nmol/L, according to the researchers. Men who were aged 70 years had a mean testosterone level 0.5 nmol/L lower than those who were aged 50 years, and participants with a BMI of 30 kg/m2 had a mean testosterone concentration 1.5 nmol/L lower than those who had a BMI of 25 kg/m2. With several factors potentially influencing testosterone levels, researchers said providers should individualize testosterone assessment. “The combined influences of sociodemographic and lifestyle factors, and medical conditions may provide an informative clinical context for interpreting testosterone and SHBG results in men aged 40 to 69 years,” researchers wrote.

Encouraging the use of Indian, artisanal products is what drives these two 27-year olds in curating a gourmet marketplace. Meet Sukriti Chopra and Garima Bakshi, founders of Single Origin, a one-stop online shop for all things #MadeInIndia. We are brand consultants helping young Indian brands with social media marketing and branding. The idea for Single Origin stems from our experiments with Indian brands. We realised that the quality is phenomenal, and there is so much more that these brands had to offer that imported brands cannot even compete with,” says Bakshi.Their website, https://www.singleorigin.co.in/ lists products by categories, brands and recipes. It is not an arbitrary selection; in a bid to curate a platform for locally produced and sourced foods, Chopra says that every product is tried first. “We have tried all the brands that we have listed on the website. We are looking at artisanal, gourmet brands, and not mass market products. We are creating a marketplace for such products so that they don’t get lost in the clutter of supermarket shelves, and which don’t otherwise get discovered,” she explains. These Delhi University graduates focus on bringing out not just products, but stories, and that is what drives them to work with people who are connected with the roots of the country. “These brands have lovely stories to tell. For example, some are run solely by women, some work directly with farmers. Their focus is on sustainability and this is what we want to push forward,” adds Chopra. In the earlier phases of the lockdowns, the duo felt a need to recreate similar dining experiences at home, giving birth to the idea of Single Origin Kitchen. “We have a category of Shop by Recipe where we have listed recipes that we made out of these brands. These are simple to make and take no more than 10-12 minutes,” shares Bakshi. Read: Navratri 2020: Fasting for the first time? Here are some tips to help you sail through The duo realised that with the lockdowns, people got a chance to try their hands at cooking and discover products they wouldn’t have otherwise. “There are people who want to try Indian products, there is a whole movement for #Vocal4Local, and we definitely want to ride the way and promote these products. We want to tell people that there are so many Indian alternatives to foreign brands. Most of the times, these are cheaper because they are locally produced and sourced,” says Chopra. They are offering Diwali hampers in eco-friendly packaging starting at Rs 1999, and festive gift boxes starting at Rs 1699, with options for customisation. The S&P 500 gave up most of its early-week gains at the end of the week as hopes for a major U.S. economic stimulus package before the election faded. On Thursday, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said he and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had been making progress in negotiations for a bipartisan stimulus package but suggested a finalized deal is unlikely to happen prior to the November elections. House Democrats had already passed a $2.2 trillion stimulus package, and President Donald Trump said Thursday he would be willing to raise his stimulus package offer to above $1.8 billion. Disney shares jumped after the company announced it’s restructuring its media and entertainment businesses to focus primarily on its Disney+ streaming service. The move comes after the global coronavirus pandemic devastated the company’s theatrical, theme park and cruise businesses this year. Earlier this month, activist investor Dan Loeb called on Disney to eliminate its $3 billion annual dividend to help fund heavier investment into streaming content. Investors got some bad news on the COVID-19 treatment front. Eli Lilly was forced to pause testing of its monoclonal antibody coronavirus treatment because of safety concerns, and Johnson & Johnson halted its late-stage coronavirus vaccine trial because of an “adverse event” involving a study participant. Bank earnings disappoint Wells Fargo was the biggest loser during a lackluster week for the banks. The bank’s earnings were seen as disappointing, and the firm reported a 19% drop in net interest income — a key metric of profitability. Wells Fargo also laid off more than 100 employees who fraudulently applied for federal small business pandemic relief aid. While most of the big banks reported earnings surprises and a lowering of loan loss provisions, investors remain skeptical. Shares of Wells Fargo, JPMorgan, Bank of America, and Citigroup are all flat to down for the week. That weak performance is still justified, according to TD Ameritrade Manager of Trader Strategy Shawn Cruz. “I was looking for bigger signs of problems on their loan books and that didn't show up yet,” said Cruz. “But I still think it’s out there down the road, in terms of businesses not being able to pay their loans.” This week, investors will be watching for earnings reports from Procter & Gamble and Netflix on Tuesday, Verizon on Wednesday and AT&T on Thursday. Fossil Fighters: Frontier (3DS) Developer: Red Entertainment, Spike Chunsoft Publisher: Nintendo Released: March 20, 2015 MSRP: $29.99 I used to love dinosaurs. Growing up I watched The Land Before Time nearly daily, and I really wanted to be a paleontologist just like Alan Grant. If there was a video game with dinosaurs in it, I experienced it it, from Turok, to Dinosaurs for Hire to Dino Crisis, just for the sake of seeing dinosaurs in action. Naturally, I played the original Fossil Fighters on the Nintendo DS. It wasn't remarkable, but it was at least an original take on the collect them all and battle formula. Digging up fossils to revive dinosaurs sounded great on paper but the digging mechanics wasn't the strongest, tedious even. So I skipped the sequel but decided to give the third game in the series another chance for review. Perhaps Fossil Fighters: Frontier would renew my love of the creatures. I [CENSORED] hate dinosaurs n Fossil Fighters: Frontier is the third game in a series of Nintendo published titles that have flown under the radar. Many would say this is a Pokémon ripoff, but that isn't fair, as Frontier has far simpler mechanics that vary the formula in its own way. There is no evolution apart from the adorable sidekick dinosaur named Nibbles, and each creature has a defined set of eight moves that are unlocked via finding each piece of its fossil. There are far fewer elemental types of creatures to deal with. It makes for a dull experience. Players take on the role of a young male or female warden who watches over dig sites, tasked with driving the aptly named "Bone Buggy" around digging up dinosaur fossils to revive them as vivosaurs, as well as protecting the parks from rogue vivosaurs and mischievous persons. Along the way you meet some "Paleo Pals" of whom you can choose two at a time to battle alongside you with their vivosaurs. The story is pretty light until about halfway into the game when a very Dr. Robotnik-like character shows up with an evil scheme that you have to put an end to. Battling feels very different from other games in the genre as your Pals' two vivosaurs automatically fight alongside yours. Similar to Pokémon you get to choose from four moves of the eight unlockable per combatant, and which enemy to attack. During the animations for the attacks you're able to use a limited number "support shots" to increase the statistics of your vivosaur for that turn. Support shots include more defense, speed, chance of critical hits or refilling health; support shots are critical to battle. A majority of your time will be spent watching your Paleo Pals battle while deciding on how to use your support shots to affect the battle, which isn't very engaging. Vivosaurs look great on screen and their attack animations actually show them connect with the enemies, unlike Pokémon. Anything that isn't a core character model though looks very jagged and ugly due to the 3DS's dated graphics. The amount of vivosaurs in the game is low, the majority of which are just reskinned of the most recognizable dinosaurs such as longnecks, raptors, T-rex and triceratops. There's only so many times you can watch the same vivosaurs do the same moves before you get tired of the tedious waiting and repetition, a running theme for Fossil Fighters: Frontier. Between battles you'll be driving around to the different dig sites finding fossils to excavate and revive. Digging up fossils is controlled by using the stylus on the touchscreen to use drills and hammers, which amounts to scribbling. A limited amount of time is given based on what battery you have equipped to your Bone Buggy, as you can purchase larger batteries that grant more time. Uncovering fossils is as tedious as in the original game and can't compare to the thrill of catching a Pokémon. Each piece of a fossil grants your vivosaur a new move, and each piece has a rare variation that grants a different move. These can be mixed and matched as you see fit prior to going into each park. Driving Buggies feels rather slow, even with a fully customized vehicle, and only ever really feels entertaining in the late game where you can run over speedboosts to attempt to jump a canyon. There are some grand prix time trial races that you have to compete in, which equate to driving from one end of the park to the other, and are quite easy. The grand prix races seem included just to artificially extend the game, as it is rather shallow. Early on you're forced to enter each dig site only to have to go back to it as soon as you leave for some story event that is taking place. This happens numerous times and only serves to extend the playtime. The same could be said about support shots, which are limited in number but can be refilled after a battle by driving to stations throughout each park, even though your vivosaurs stats reset after each battle automatically. Multiple times I found myself in battles where the difficulty suddenly spiked, our vivosaurs were no match when the battle just before they had easily wiped the floor with the enemy. This led to grinding at the tournaments you can enter in each park. The tournaments consist of three or four battles in a row with a limited number of support shot refills, and are vastly easier than any of the late game battles. Luckily there is an "auto" option on the bottom screen that allows the computer to take over for your vivosaur as well as your Paleo Pals. I was relieved when I didn't have to manually grind, but I shouldn't be relieved to have a game play itself constantly! I'd say around 10 hours of my 26 hour playthrough was dull, automatic grinding. Those also looking for a game to play with their friends will want to seek help elsewhere, as online play only consists of ranked battles versus strangers, although you can see your friend's rankings. Local co-op only allows players to enter dig sites together, though I wasn't able to test this out as it requires two consoles and two copies of the game. Overall multiplayer seems rather tacked on. For a game that is clearly geared towards children, the difficulty spikes and grind in the later part of the game didn't really make sense, nor did teaching kids to win their battles with what equates to a mean steroid habit. Fossil Fighters: Frontier feels like a basic idea of a game surrounded by hours of repetition just to artificially extend the length. The battling isn't fun, the driving is dull, the graphics aren't easy on the eyes, the story is predictable, the characters are all tropes based on their ethnicity; in the world of Fossil Fighters: Frontier entertainment is extinct. The changing of the seasons is a time to reevaluate our fitness goals. Many times, we put off lifestyle changes until the new year. But there is no better time to start creating healthy habits than right now. Making changes in your lifestyle doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the downtime and comfort food that come with the holiday season. All-or-nothing thinking is not conducive to lasting health behavior change. 1. Find activities you enjoy A healthy lifestyle is more than just monitoring your weight and eating nutritious foods. Stress management is a key component to lowering cortisone levels, balancing hormones, and getting restful sleep. Find activities that bring you joy and implement them in your daily routine. Identify both active and restorative hobbies that you can engage in and alternate them daily. For example, categorize any activity that gets your heart rate up such as hiking, trail-running, or yoga as active hobbies. Using coloring-books, completing crossword puzzles, or knitting would be classified as restorative hobbies. Advertisement Start simple and use resources already at your disposable. Remember, you don’t need to purchase anything or drastically alter your routine to begin cultivating healthy lifestyle habits. 2. Time management Plan out your week ahead of time and identify where you have free time. Try to stay within a specific timeframe each day that way, taking time to better yourself becomes second nature. You don’t need to spend hours at a time working towards your goals to make a change. Even just half an hour a day of these active and restorative habits can make a significant difference in your quality of life and overall sense of well-being. 3. Change it up If you start off by marking time spent lifting weights as your active hobby, switch to an outdoor or cardio-based activity after a few weeks. Try new styles of working out and in different places. This could mean working out in your backyard instead of your basement or switching out running for tai-chi. If you’ve been crocheting as a part of your restorative practice, consider a new method of expressing your creativity that you’ve never tried before. Let go of the idea that you need to be an expert at your hobbies. The goal should be to have fun and engage in activities that enhance your health. 4. Take an inventory of your current habits Be honest with yourself and notice if any of your current habits are actively working against your new goal of making healthy lifestyle changes. Perhaps you consume an exorbitant amount of sugar or are on your electronic devices late into the night. Simply observe and identify these habits in a non-judgmental manner before asking yourself if you’re ready to change them. If you’re not, consider what you would need to be ready to make these changes, whether that be more information, social support, or a professional’s assistance. Come up with a plan to manage these issues. Remember, the changes you make should be gradual and sustainable. If you take a paced approach you could be well on your way to achieving your goals by the time January 1st rolls around.

Teams who face the Ravens search for someone to simulate Lamar Jackson in practice leading up to the game. That's easier said than done. However, the Philadelphia Eagles have someone who can imitate Jackson better than most in quarterback Jalen Hurts, who has been playing that role in practice as the Eagles prepare to face Baltimore Sunday. "It's really helped us a lot," Eagles safety Rodney McLeod said via PennLive.com. "He understands the zone read scheme, and his athleticism, I think, speaks for itself. He's putting that on display for us this week, giving us a real good look." Hurts was the No. 53-overall pick in the draft, after his career as a dual threat quarterback at both Alabama and Oklahoma. The Eagles selected him two picks before Baltimore took running back J.K. Dobbins.Hurts hasn't played much this season as the backup to Carson Wentz, rushing five times of for 26 yards and completing his only pass attempt for 18 yards. However, Hurts was a true dual-threat quarterback in college just like Jackson. As a senior at Oklahoma, Hurts passed for 3,821 yards and 32 touchdowns and rushed for 1,298 yards and 20 touchdowns. "Of course, he's not Lamar," Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham said. "But he's fast, too. It's definitely going to help us Sunday." Nick Boyle Talks About Loss of Hayden Hurst Last year the Ravens' tight end group referred to itself as the three-headed monster, consisting of Mark Andrews, Nick Boyle, and Hayden Hurst. However, the trade of Hurst to the Atlanta Falcons has reduced the trio by one, and Boyle says Hurst's presence is has been missed. "Of course, we miss Hayden," Boyle said. "Mark and I, we were all so really close when he was here. We were always together around the building, always making jokes, attacking other people (and) whatnot. From an offensive standpoint, we're doing well without Hayden, but do we miss Hayden in the sense that he's a really good football player? We do. He's a fast player, he's a physical player, and he can do a lot of special things. And he's going to do great, and he's doing great in Atlanta. But I think we can find people who are here to step up and fulfill what he left." Andrews leads the Ravens in touchdown receptions (five) and is second in yards (222) and catches (18), Boyle (six catches, 30 yards, one touchdown) remains a premier blocking tight end, and he believes his growth as both a receiver and blocker has continued. "I think I'm getting better as a football player every single year," Boyle said. "That's the whole thing, especially from a blocking standpoint; the more years I get, I'm able to see, diagnose defenses, see things faster, make faster decisions, which helps out my blocking."
