  1. Welcome to our Project ❤️

  2. Halloween has come and gone, and now there’s a political election ongoing over in the USA, which means it’s time to talk about the important issues. That’s right, video game music! This is likely to be the final issue where the lead platform we talk about is PlayStation 4, as a certain PlayStation 5 is out and about and right on the cusp of being in the hands of many anxious gamers. Which means we should get right down to it! Here’s the best music that debuted on PS4 in October.Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time Given the extraordinarily long time between mainline entries in the Crash series, it’s been something of a surprise to see just how impressive the game has been. Associate Editor Stephen Tailby rated it an 8/10 in the Push Square review, and frankly, the whole package just seems to be a rather grand follow-up to the equally impressive Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. And one of the contributing factors to that is absolutely the score, provided here by Walter Mair. The score brilliantly captures the feel of what Crash represented once upon a time, as well as what it means to gaming now.Amnesia: Rebirth One area developer Frictional Games has never failed to deliver on is its scores. From Penumbra to Amnesia to Soma, and now back to Amnesia, the steady presence of Mikko Tarmia’s compositions have anchored their terrifying experiences. And this remains true with Amnesia: Rebirth, which has every bit as ominous and unsettling a soundtrack as you could possibly hope for. While this final PS5-less month may not have been absolutely loaded with noteworthy soundtracks — not to say there aren’t others — expect to see a rather substantially larger list this time next month. That's when we have not one, but two consoles competing for attention. What was your favourite soundtrack of October 2020 on PS4? Let us know in the comments below.

  5. The stock prices of major U.S. listed Chinese electric-vehicle manufacturers soared on Monday, as they reported strong deliveries for October. Nio - one of the largest EV startups in China - saw its stock soar by about 9%, as it reported that deliveries in October almost doubled year-over-year to 5,055 vehicles. Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV), another premium EV player saw its stock rise by about 7%, as it delivered about 3,040 vehicles through the month, marking an increase of about 230% from a year ago, driven primarily by sales of its P7 sedan which was launched earlier this year. However, deliveries were slightly lower month-over-month. Li Auto (NASDAQ NDAQ +4.9%: LI), a company that sells EVs that also have a small gasoline engine - said that it delivered 3,692 of its Li ONE SUVs in October, marking a month-over-month increase of about 5%. The company began production only late last year. See our analysis Nio, Xpeng & Li Auto: How Do Chinese EV Stocks Compare? which compares the financial performance and valuation of the major U.S. listed Chinese electric vehicle players. [10/30/2020] How Do Nio, Xpeng, and Li Auto Compare The Chinese electric vehicle space is booming, with China-based manufacturers accounting for over 50% of global EV deliveries. Demand for EVs in China is likely to remain robust as the Chinese government wants about 25% of all new cars sold in the country to be electric by 2025, up from roughly 5% at present. [1] While Tesla TSLA -0.2% is a leader in the Chinese luxury EV market driven by production at its new Shanghai facility, Nio, Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV), and Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) - three relatively young U.S. listed Chinese electric vehicle players, have also been gaining traction. In our analysis Nio, Xpeng & Li Auto: How Do Chinese EV Stocks Compare? we compare the financial performance and valuation of the major U.S. listed Chinese electric vehicle players. Parts of the analysis are summarized below. Overview Of Nio, Li Auto & Xpeng’s Business Nio, which was founded in 2014, currently offers three premium electric SUVs, ES8, ES6, and EC6, which are priced starting at about $50k. The company is working on developing self-driving technology and also offers other unique innovations such as Battery as a Service (BaaS) - which allows customers to subscribe for car batteries, rather than paying for them upfront. While the company has scaled up production, it hasn’t come without challenges, as it recalled about 5,000 vehicles last year after reports of multiple fires. Li Auto sells Extended-Range Electric Vehicles, which are essentially EVs that also have a small gasoline engine that can generate additional electric power for the battery. This reduces the need for EV-charging infrastructure, which is currently limited in China. The company’s hybrid strategy appears to be paying off - with its Li ONE SUV, which is priced at about $46,000 - ranking as the top-selling SUV in the new energy vehicle segment in China in September 2020. The new energy segment includes fuel cell, electric, and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Xpeng produces and sells premium electric vehicles including the G3 SUV and the P7 four-door sedan, which are roughly positioned as rivals to Tesla’s Model Y SUV and Model 3 sedan, although they are more affordable, with the basic version of the G3 starting at about $22,000 post subsidies. The G3 SUV was among the top 3 Electric SUVs in terms of sales in China in 2019. While the company began production in late 2018, initially via a deal with an established automaker, it has started production at its own factory in the Guangdong province. How Have The Deliveries, Revenues & Margins Trended Nio delivered about 21k vehicles in 2019, up from about 11k vehicles in 2018. This compares to Xpeng which delivered about 13k vehicles in 2019 and Li Auto which delivered about 1k vehicles, considering that it began production only late last year. While Nio’s deliveries this year could approach about 40k units, Li Auto and Xpeng are likely to deliver around 25k vehicles with Li Auto seeing the highest growth. Over 2019, Nio’s Revenues stood at $1.1 billion, compared to about $40 million for Li Auto and $330 million for Xpeng. Nio’s Revenues are likely to grow 95% this year, while Xpeng’s Revenues are likely to grow by about 120%. All three companies remain deeply lossmaking as costs related to R&D and SG&A remain high relative to Revenues. Nio’s Net Margins stood at -195% in 2019, Li Auto’s margins stood at about -860% while Xpeng’s margins stood at -160%. However, margins are likely to improve sharply in 2020, as volumes pick up. Valuation Nio’s Market Cap stood at about $37 billion as of October 28, 2020, with its stock price rising by about 7x year-to-date due to surging investor interest in EV stocks. Li Auto and Xpeng, which were both listed in the U.S. around August as they looked to capitalize on surging valuations, have a market cap of about $15 billion and $14 billion, respectively. On a relative basis, Nio trades at about 15x projected 2020 Revenues, Li Auto trades at about 12x, while Xpeng trades at about 20x. While valuations are certainly high, investors are likely betting that these companies will continue to grow in the domestic market, while eventually playing a larger role in the global EV space leveraging China’s relatively low-cost manufacturing, and the country’s ecosystem of battery and auto parts suppliers. Of the three companies, Nio might be the safer bet, considering its slightly longer track record, higher Revenues, and investments in technology such as battery swaps and self-driving. Li Auto also looks attractive considering its rapid growth - driven by the uptake of its hybrid powertrains - and relatively attractive valuation of about 12x 2020 Revenues What if you’re looking for a more balanced portfolio instead? Here’s a high-quality portfolio to beat the market, with over 100% return since 2016, versus 50% for the S&P 500. Comprised of companies with strong revenue growth, healthy profits, lots of cash, and low risk, it has outperformed the broader market year after year, consistently. A nice little detail to take into account when you bust open your PS5 later this month: the HDMI cable that the console comes with is actually HDMI 2.1, meaning that it supports 4K resolution at 120Hz (yep, it's the same as the Xbox Series X). In other words, you won't have to go and buy a new HDMI cable if you want to game at 120 frames-per-second. Of course, if you are planning on playing a game at 120fps, there are a couple of other factors to consider. For starters, not every PS5 game will be able to run at that frame rate. Only a small handful of titles have been confirmed to support 120fps, including Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition and DIRT 5 (for a full list of confirmed PS5 games that support 120fps, check out this guide: All PS5 Games Running at 120 Frames-Per-Second). On top of that, you'll obviously need a TV or display that also supports 120Hz. Still, it's nice to know that you won't have to buy an additional HDMI cable should you one day decide to upgrade your gaming setup.

  13. Details regarding AMD's raytracing support for its Radeon RX 6000 RDNA 2 based graphics cards have been unearthed by AdoredTV. There was recently some discussion regarding how will AMD implement its own raytracing features in gaming titles and it looks like AMD's gaming GPUs will already have full support in titles that are based on Microsoft's DXR or Vulkan Raytracing APIs. AMD Announces Raytracing Support For Radeon RX 6000 RDNA 2 Graphics Cards In All Microsoft DXR & Vulkan Raytracing APIs Based Games AMD clarified that their Radeon RX 6000 RDNA 2 graphics cards will feature full raytracing support in gaming titles that use industry-based standards. According to AMD, they will allow full raytracing support in games that are based on Microsoft's DXR and Vulkan Raytracing APIs and there are a lot of titles that already do that. For starters, there are only a handful of titles that are locked behind NVIDIA's RTX implementation and therefore, regarded as a proprietary standard. Major game engines such as Frostbite, Unreal, Seed & Unity are based on Microsoft's DXR APIs. Vulkan Raytracing is also implemented in Id tech's new engines for its next-generation title however, currently, they are only supported for RTX GPUs. There is a big possibility that developers who have their games based on industry-standard APIs for raytracing will at some point enable support for AMD's Radeon RX 6000 RDNA 2 graphics cards but that remains to be seen. We could also see a drastic difference between NVIDIA's RTX & AMD's own raytracing implementation in the same titles too. Following is a list of all the games available that are based on Microsoft's DXR API: Battlefield V Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Control Deliver Us The Moon Dirt 5 Fortnite Metro Exodus Shadow of The Tomb Raider Wolfenstein YoungbloodWe recently got to see some impressive raytracing performance numbers of the Radeon RX 6800 series graphics card which shows that AMD might just have a strong RT solution of their own. AMD still lacks behind NVIDIA when DLSS is enabled however, AMD is also working on its own DLSS solution under the Microsoft DirectML banner. It will definitely be interesting to see how well the AMD RA (Ray Accelerator) cores compare against NVIDIA's RT cores.AMD's Scott Herkelman has already stated that they are currently working on their own super-resolution feature to be implemented along raytracing however as per The Verge, the solution might not be available on the launch of the Radeon RX 6000 series cards. We can definitely expect more detailed information on raytracing and AI-based super-resolution features for Radeon RX 6000 RDNA 2 based graphics cards in the coming week as promised by AMD's Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Marketing, Frank Azor. Radeon RX 6000 Series Graphics Cards Pricing & Availability The Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics cards will be available starting 8th of December. The AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is said to carry a price tag of $999 US and is expected to be a reference only model for this year unless AMD gives its AIB partners a greenlight for custom variants which may be in the plans. The RX 6800 XT and RX 6800 will be launching in the retail market on 18th November for $649 US and $579 US, respectively.
  14. Car retailers have once again been urged to “hold firm” with their used vehicle pricing as England returns to a state of COVID-19 lockdown this week. Measures taken to avoid product discounting during the UK’s first coronavirus-prompted lockdown period – from March 23 to June 1 (in England) – were credited with maintaining a strong used car market when restrictions were lifted. Now Auto Trader is calling for the same approach as its data shows that demand for used cars has yet to diminish. Richard Walker, Auto Trader’s director of data and insight, said: “The introduction of the second national lockdown in England and the 17-day firebreak in Wales is disappointing for us all, but not surprising given news over the last few weeks. “Fortunately, businesses are far better prepared than they were in March and despite the restrictions, our data suggests consumer demand remains strong. “As we stressed during the original lockdown, retailers should avoid the temptation to slash their prices in order to entice car buyers, as it simply isn’t necessary and could have a lasting negative impact on the market.” The average number of retailers making daily price changes was 1,971 in October, according to Auto Trader’s website data, 20% fewer than in October 2019 (2,467), and 9% fewer than September 2020 (2,164). The average amount being changed on a daily basis was £277, which was a 16% decline on the same time last year (£320). National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) chief executive, Sure Robinson, urged retailers to retain faith in the levels of consumer demand seen in the market. She said: “It is encouraging to see that average asking prices saw an increase in October demonstrating that consumer demand for used cars remains healthy, in particular for petrol and diesel vehicles. “Despite the introduction of new restrictions, dealers have been receiving high volumes of online enquiries and this is likely to continue over the coming weeks”. Auto Trader reported in its latest retail price index report that October had marked seven months of consecutive growth for used car prices, with an increase of 8.6% year-on-year. Meanwhile, the online marketing giant claims to have seen demand surge by 24.6% year-on-year, with 61.9 million visits in October. Furthermore, news of the November 2 start of ‘Lockdown 2’ has driven a 17% increase in retailer leads, it said. Its data contradicts that of used car pricing and insight specialist Cap HPI, which reported that the used car market had delivered a small decline of 2.1% on October 2019. October pricing movements The Auto Trader Retail Price Index – based on pricing analysis of over 900,000 vehicles – showed that the average retail price of a used car was £14,014 last month, marking an 8.6% year-on-year (YoY) increase on a like-for-like basis and seven months of consecutive growth. It follows the previous YoY records of 7.6% in September, and 6.1% in August, prior to which the highest rate of growth was 5.8%, observed in July 2014. Last month the average price for a second-hand petrol car grew 9% YoY (£12,612), which is the highest rate of growth since February 2018 (also 9%). Used diesel cars saw prices grow 8.8% (£14,899), which marks the fourth consecutive month of record price increases. The Retail Price Index Report said: “Notably, the rate of growth for used diesels has doubled since July 2020 (4.1%), prior to which the highest rate of growth was 3.9% in July 2018. “As highlighted in Auto Trader’s Market Insight tool, the level of demand for used diesels is not as strong as its petrol counterpart – increasing 2.8% YoY in October, versus 14.0% YoY. “However, there are far fewer in the market for consumers to choose from, with the level of diesel supply dropping 13.6% on the same period last year. “It represents the steepest decline in supply of any fuel type, and by some margin. Alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs) also saw a positive October, recording the first price growth since February 2020, which at 0.07% (£23,301) is a more subdued rate than its ICE counterparts. Electric vehicles (EV) recorded their 10th consecutive month of price contraction, down by 2.6%, it’s the lowest rate since February 2020. Hatchbacks and MPV body types recorded the highest rate of value growth during October, according to Auto Trader, up 12.9% (£9,282) and 11.0% (£9,738) respectively. SUVs continue to experience the highest levels of demand, however, recording a YoY increase of 18.1%, whilst supply fell 6.6%. The average sticker price of an SUV was £19,367 last month, representing a like-for-like increase of 4.9% on October 2019. Like-for-like prices continued to show strong growth across all age groups, with those aged between 10 to 15 years rising 15.7% (£4,382). However, the same age group saw a notable dip in demand from September, falling from 12.1% YoY growth to a comparatively conservative 3.2% last month.
  15. Lifestyle and Mobility has completed its second acquisition of 2020, purchasing Harlow Mobility from former owner David Davison. The acquisition takes Lifestyle and Mobility’s store tally up to five in the South East, including the use of an assessment centre that the company can use in collaboration with 360 Wheelchairs. Offering a combination of lifestyle-orientated mobility aids and prescriptive solutions to meet complex needs, Lifestyle and Mobility is one of the mobility industry’s growing success stories. The family-run retailer was founded in 2002 by Ron Sverdloff and is now managed by Managing Director Aaron Sverdloff and his engaged team, expanding its presence across the region. In February 2020, Lifestyle and Mobility acquired Hearing Health and Mobility’s Bournemouth branch after it entered administration – just weeks before the first coronavirus lockdown in the spring. Now, with history repeating itself, Lifestyle and Mobility has acquired Harlow Mobility, just days out from the upcoming, month-long lockdown. Based in Essex, Harlow Mobility formerly traded as 1st Call Mobility prior to the eight-figure sale of its bariatric division in 2016 to Arjo. Following the sale, the remaining 1st Call Mobility showroom changed its name to Harlow Mobility and continued to operate from its shopping centre location. Now, Harlow Mobility will join Lifestyle and Mobility’s growing portfolio. Darren Macey, Business Development Manager for Lifestyle and Mobility, told THIIS that it will add new ranges such as active wheelchairs, complex powerchairs and Motability ranges to the Harlow branch. “Harlow Mobility was a great fit for us, as we knew we could add our business model within theirs,” explained Darren. “Adding our Motability accreditation is only going to do great things as we know this area hasn’t been tapped into that much which can only be a positive thing for us.” The acquisition follows Lifestyle and Mobility’s earlier attempt to enter Harlow almost two years ago after finding a 7,500 sq ft site which it planned to turn into its flagship store. “It’s been no secret that we’ve been wanting to get into Harlow for years now,” said Darren. “We started the process of taking on a huge unit in Terminus Street. We battled through the lease over an eight-month period. It felt like there were barriers after barriers, including high amounts of asbestos. During this period, David Davison the former proprietor of 1st Call Mobility, put Harlow Mobility up for sale. “We then approached David, which can you believe is almost two years ago now. After some negotiations, we almost had a deal done but for one reason or another we decided to carry on proceeding forward with the Terminus Street site as we had already invested so much time and effort into.” Eventually, Lifestyle and Mobility decided to pull out of the Terminus Street site, explained Darren. “When something isn’t right, it’s just not right! At this time, however, David had also taken his business off the market,” he added. “About two weeks ago, I was talking to Aaron on the phone about business. I don’t know why but I said to him shall I give David a call to see if he’s interested in selling. Sure enough, we had a great conversation and set up a meeting… two weeks later, the deal was done and we completed the deal on the 2nd November.” To discover the full story of the acquisition, including Lifestyle and Mobility’s ambitions for the new branch, check out next month’s issue of THIIS – register for a copy to be delivered to your home, showroom, office or wherever you please, here.
  16. In swing states from Georgia to Arizona, the Affordable Care Act — and concerns over protecting preexisting conditions — loom over key races for Congress and the presidency. "I can't even believe it's in jeopardy," says Noshin Rafieei, a 36-year-old from Phoenix. "The people that are trying to eliminate the protection for individuals such as myself with preexisting conditions, they must not understand what it's like." In 2016, Rafieei was diagnosed with colon cancer. A year later, her doctor discovered it had spread to her liver. "I was taking oral chemo, morning and night — just imagine that's your breakfast, essentially, and your dinner," Rafieei says. In February, she underwent a liver transplant. Rafieei does have health insurance now through her employer, but she fears whether her medical history could disqualify her from getting care in the future. "I had to pray that my insurance would approve of my transplant just in the nick of time," she says. "I had that Stage 4 label attached to my name and that has dollar signs. Who wants to invest in someone with Stage 4?" "That is no way to feel," she adds. After doing her research, Rafieei says she intends to vote for Joe Biden, who helped get the ACA passed in this first place. "Health care for me is just the driving factor," she says. Even 10 years after the Affordable Care Act locked in a health care protection that Americans now overwhelmingly support — guarantees that insurers cannot deny coverage or charge more based on preexisting medical conditions — voters once again face contradicting campaign promises over which candidate will preserve the law's legacy. A majority of Democrats, independents and Republicans say they want their new president to preserve the ACA's provision that protects as many as 135 million people from potentially being unable to get health care because of their medical history. President Trump has pledged to keep this in place, even as his administration heads to the U.S Supreme Court the week after Election Day to argue the entire law should be struck down. "We'll always protect people with preexisting," Trump said in the most recent debate. "I'd like to terminate Obamacare, come up with a brand new, beautiful health care." And yet the Trump administration has not unveiled a health care plan or identified any specific components it might include. In 2017, the administration joined with congressional Republicans to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, but none of the GOP-backed replacement plans could summon enough votes. The Republicans' final attempt, a limited "skinny repeal" of parts of the ACA, failed in the Senate because of resistance within their own party. In an attempt to reassure wary voters, Trump recently signed an executive order that asserts protections for preexisting conditions will stay in place, but legal experts say this has no teeth. "It's basically a pinky promise, but it doesn't have teeth," says Swapna Reddy, a clinical assistant professor at Arizona State University's College of Health Solutions. "What is the enforceability? The order really doesn't have any effect because it can't regulate the insurance industry." Since the 2017 repeal and replace efforts, the health care law has continued to gain po[CENSORED]rity. Public approval is now at an all-time high, but polling shows many Republicans still don't view the ACA as synonymous with its most po[CENSORED]r provision — protections for preexisting conditions. Democrats hope to change that. "If you have a preexisting condition — heart disease, diabetes, breast cancer — they are coming for you," said Biden's running mate, California Sen. Kamala Harris, during her recent debate with Vice President Pence. Voters support maintaining ACA's legal protections In key swing states, many voters say protecting preexisting conditions is their top health concern. Rafieei, the Phoenix woman with colon cancer, still often has problems getting her treatments covered. Her insurance has denied medications that help quell the painful side effects of chemotherapy or complications related to her transplant. "During those chemo days, I'd think, wow, I'm really sick, and I just got off the phone with my pharmacy and they're denying me something that could possibly help me," she says. Because of her transplant, she will be on medication for the rest of her life, and sometimes she even has nightmares about being away and running out of it. "I will have these panic attacks like, 'Where's my medicine? Oh my god, I have to get back to get my medicine?'" Election season and talk of eliminating the ACA has not given Rafieei much reassurance, though. "I cannot stomach politics. I am beyond terrified," she says. And yet she plans to head to the polls — in person — despite having a compromised immune system. "It might be a long day. But you know what? I want to fix whatever I can," she says. A few days after she votes, she'll get a coronavirus test and go in for another round of surgery. A key health issue in political swing states Rafieei's home state of Arizona is emblematic of the political contradictions around the health care law. The Republican-led state reaped the benefits of the ACA. Arizona's uninsured rate dropped considerably since 2010, in part because it expanded Medicaid. But the state's governor also embraced the Republican effort to repeal and replace the law in 2017, and now Arizona's attorney general is part of the lawsuit that will be heard by the Supreme Court on Nov. 10 that could topple the entire law. Depending on how the Supreme Court rules, ASU's Reddy says any meaningful replacement for preexisting conditions would involve Congress and the next president. "At the moment, we have absolutely no national replacement plan," she says. Meanwhile, some states have passed their own laws to maintain protections for preexisting conditions, in the event the ACA is struck down. But Reddy says those vary considerably from state to state. For example, Arizona's law, passed just earlier this year, only prevents insurers from outright denying coverage — consumers with preexisting conditions can be charged more. "We are in this season of chaos around the Affordable Care Act," says Reddy. "From a consumer perspective, it's really hard to decipher all these details." As in the congressional midterm election of 2018, Democrats are hammering away at Republican's track record on preexisting conditions and the ACA. In Arizona, Mark Kelly, the Democratic candidate running for Senate, has run ads and used every opportunity to remind voters of Republican Sen. Martha McSally's votes to repeal the law. In Georgia, Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff has taken a similar approach. "Can you look down the camera and tell the people of this state why you voted four times to allow insurance companies to deny us health care coverage because we may suffer from diabetes or heart disease or have cancer in remission?" Ossoff said during a debate with his opponent, Republican Sen. David Purdue. Republicans have often tried to skirt health care as a major issue this election cycle because there isn't the same political advantage to pushing the repeal and replace argument, says Mark Peterson, a professor of public policy, political science and law at UCLA. "It's political suicide, there doesn't seem to be any real political advantage anymore," says Peterson. But the timing of the Supreme Court case — exactly a week after election day — has somewhat obscured the issue for voters. Republicans have chipped away at the health care law by reducing the individual mandate — the provision requiring consumers to purchase insurance — to zero dollars. The premise of the Supreme Court case is that the ACA no longer qualifies as a tax because of this change in the penalty. "It is an extraordinary stretch, even among many conservative legal scholars, to say that the entire law is predicated on the existence of an enforced individual mandate," says Peterson. The court could rule in a very limited way that does not disrupt the entire law or protections for preexisting conditions, he says. Like many issues this election, Peterson says there is a big disconnect between what voters in the two parties believe is at stake with the ACA. "Not everybody, particularly Republicans, associates the ACA with protecting preexisting conditions," he says. "But it is pretty striking that overwhelmingly Democrats and Independents do — and a number of Republicans — that's enough to give a significant national supermajority."
