  1. Musician Name: Rachel Agatha Keen Birthday / Location: October 24, 1997 (age 22) Born Tooting, London, UK Main instrument: Singer, songwriter Musician Picture: Musician Awards & Nominations:- Best Performance: - Other Information: RAYE rose to fame after the release, in 2016, of "By Your Side«", a song by producer Jonas Blue in which he participated as vocalist and which was very po[CENSORED]r on the UK charts. Their next collaboration, "You Don't Know" featuring Jax Jones, achieved even greater notoriety and peaked at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2023, her single "Escapism" reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. Rachel Keen was born in the London Borough of Tooting, United Kingdom, to a mother of Swiss and Ghanaian descent and an English father. She was raised in Pollards Hill and Croydon, south London, in a musical family. His paternal grandfather was an original composer and instrumentalist from Yorkshire, region from which his father moved to London to launch a musical career along with a band, which did not reach success. Her mother is a singer who often performed in the choir of a local church, where she met Raye's father, who occasionally led worship and played the piano. Raye became interested in music at an early age, when she started attending church where she developed her vocal skills. She then fell in love with the gospel music of artists such as Stevie Wonder, Wet Wet Wet, Donnie McClurkin and Kirk Franklin, while also paying close attention to her Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill and Billie Holliday records that she listened to at home. At the age of ten, she performed her first composition that she wrote for a talent contest in primary school in which she participated in several editions. Later, she auditioned for Britain's Got Talent, but without success. At the age of thirteen, she made her first recordings on a portable computer that her maternal uncle Jose gave her, a musician residing in the United States who made her interested in the singer Jill Scott, who cites as one of his main influences. Although, in his second year, with a secondary education certificate (GCSE), he left school to dedicate himself to his musical career, which at that time had begun to take off, after he met a guitar teacher, who was also experienced in composition. . She wrote several songs together with her father and teacher, and over time he introduced her to a friend who was a producer for the Sony / ATV company and also performed several musical works with him. Soon the producer introduced her boss to him, Will Harper, who years later became his manager after jumping to fame. Around this time, she also had several songwriting sessions with Eg White, while also alternating her classes at the Brit School with vocal training on the weekends. At the age of fifteen, she composed «Hotbox» in collaboration with Harper, inspired by the use of marijuana that she experimented with in her school years. The song was published on a website and became po[CENSORED]r, and was especially liked by the lead singer of the band Years & Years, Olly Alexander, who did a lot to support the artist's career, to the point that he aroused the interest of his Polydor record label. and a recording contract was signed with Raye at the beginning of 2015. During 2015 she performed multiple musical shows and in the middle of that year she performed as the lead singer for Years & Years in a series of concerts across the United Kingdom. The EP disc also featured contributions from producer Fred Gibson and songwriters Noonie Bao and Charli XCX. The latter co-wrote and directed the video for «I, Ou, Us», which had a positive response from critics, such as Cliff Aimee from The Fader magazine, who praised the sound and lyrics of the song that talks about a love failure, and found similarities with "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" by Taylor Swift. The journalist also opined that the video captures the “brightness of the song”. That same month, Raye performed at the British festival Bestival and in September, Nas premiered “War”, a song performed by the rapper and Raye from the current soundtrack of the film The Birth of a Nation.

  5. iPhone 15 series is expected to go official in September with upgrades in design as well as specifications. Apple hasn't announced any details regarding the iPhone 15 series, but we're already hearing a lot about its successors — iPhone 16 lineup. Most recently, a tipster claimed that Apple will use new battery technology for the iPhone 16 models. This technology is expected to improve battery life and offer greater longevity compared to standard batteries. This transition may also bring faster charging capabilities to the iPhone 16 lineup. Tipster RGcloudS (@RGcloudS) on Twitter stated that Apple will use stacked battery technology from electric vehicles for the entire iPhone 16 lineup. He also claimed that Samsung is working on stacked battery technology for its forthcoming Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Previously, the tipster had claimed that Apple would launch the iPhone 15 series this year with the stacked battery technology, but that may no longer be the case. He also said that Apple might introduce 40W wired and 20W MagSafe wireless charging. Based on the previous launch timelines of Galaxy S series devices, Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S24 lineup early next year, while the iPhone 16 lineup might go official later in September. It appears that Samsung might implement the technology ahead of Apple. Stacked batteries would offer a set of benefits over the conventional Li-ion battery including improved efficiency, cooler temperatures, and longevity. Besides EVs, they are used extensively in aerospace and aviation. A recent leak suggested bigger batteries for the iPhone 15 lineup. The vanilla iPhone 15 is said to pack a 3,877mAh battery, an upgrade from the 3,279mAh on the iPhone 14. The larger iPhone 15 Plus could come equipped with a 4,912mAh battery. Last year's iPhone 14 Plus has a 4,323mAh battery. The iPhone 15 Pro is tipped to house a 3,650mAh battery, up from the 3,200mAh cell on the outgoing iPhone 14 Pro. The top-of-the-line iPhone 15 Pro Max could be equipped with a 4,852mAh battery, which is larger than the 4,323mAh unit on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
  6. Windows 10’s most recent update has been giving some PC gamers a headache, brining lag to their gaming sessions – and causing other performance issues besides. Windows Latest picked up on feedback posted on the official Reddit thread introducing the July cumulative update for Windows 10 (patch KB5028166). One Redditor said: “Did somebody experience after updating, game and apps became laggy?” A bunch of replies in the affirmative then ensued, along the lines of: “Yes! I can’t do anything, it takes forever. Everything is slow.” Another user notes: “I’ve had a few games becoming laggy and freezing at points since updating.” A further user on Reddit observes: “The last update has given my W10 PC a bad case of constipation; Chrome and other apps take a minute or two to open, webpages often delay opening or display a ‘page is not responding’ message. I’ve not uninstalled the last update in the hope MS releases a new update soon that sorts all this out, as it doesn’t seem to be an uncommon problem.” It doesn’t seem to be uncommon indeed, with another Redditor posting to confirm: “Had to uninstall this update, caused an ungodly amount of stuttering afterwards. Reformatted the PC, tested before and after this update after so I know this is definitely the cause of the stutter. Clearly I am not the only one and would highly recommend avoiding/uninstalling this update.” As well as these issues for gamers and general performance slowdown, there are complaints on the same Reddit thread about KB5028166 taking ages to install. One tech support person (presumably) notes: “On all my clients’ computers, this update takes forever after restart and there’s nothing you can do. Everyone has been calling since morning because they can’t work on their computers.” A reply to that says the update went on for ‘many hours’ and the user ended up restarting their PC to get out of it (not advisable, really, though sometimes you may feel left with little choice after waiting for ages for an update to finish) – only to encounter the same problem again. Nasty. Analysis: Not the first time, and likely not the last Unfortunately, we’ve not heard anything official from Microsoft about how KB5028166 might be causing issues for gamers (indeed, we haven’t seen any official confirmation that there’s a problem at all). Clearly, though, there are a bunch of unhappy folks out there, so hopefully the software giant is investigating. Even the best PC games aren’t so great when frame rates are stuttering like crazy. This wouldn’t be the first time a cumulative update for Windows 10 (or Windows 11) has seemingly thrown a spanner in the works for games, or has slowed down apps in general. This kind of apparently random lag attack has happened over and over throughout the years, so it’s not exactly a surprise to see this as a (potential) side-effect of KB5028166. The sad truth is that vague problems like this can be difficult to pin down, and sometimes remain ongoing issues for a while. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed that Microsoft looks into this, and how to cure the affected PCs, and does so quickly. Or at least gives us some indication of what’s going on here. Meanwhile, you can’t really avoid the update on Windows 10 Home – only for a limited time – so you’re going to have to install it soon (besides, there are important security fixes in the patch).
  7. In a quite unexpected twist, Samsung late on Thursday said that it had completed the development of the industry's first GDDR7 memory chip. The new device will feature a data transfer rate of 32 GT/s, use pulse-amplitude modulation (PAM3) signaling, and promise a 20% power efficiency improvement over GDDR6. To achieve this, Samsung had to implement several new technologies. Samsung's first 16Gb GDDR7 device features a data transfer rate of 32 GT/s and therefore boasts a bandwidth of 128 GB/s, up significantly from 89.6 GB/s per chip provided by GDDR6X at 22.4 GT/s. To put it into perspective, a 384-bit memory subsystem featuring 32 GT/s GDDR7 chips would provide a whopping 1.536 TB/s of bandwidth, which by far exceeds GeForce RTX 4090's 1.008 TB/s. To hit unprecedentedly high data transfer rates, GDDR7 uses PAM3 signaling, a kind of pulse amplitude modulation featuring three distinct signaling levels (-1, 0, and +1). This mechanism enables the transfer of three bits of data within two cycles, which is more efficient than the two-level NRZ, which is the method used by GDDR6. However, it is important to note that PAM3 signals are more complex to generate and decode than NRZ signals (which means additional power consumption), and they can be more susceptible to noise and interference. Meanwhile, it looks like the benefits of PAM3 outweigh its challenges, so it is set to be adopted by both GDDR7 and USB4 v2. In addition to higher performance, Samsung's 32 GT/s GDDR7 chip is also said to feature a 20% improvement in power efficiency compared to 24 GT/s GDDR6, though Samsung does not specify how it measures power efficiency. Typically, memory makers tend to measure power per transferred bit, which is a fair thing to do, and from this point of view, GDDR7 promises to be more efficient than GDDR6. Meanwhile, this does not mean that GDDR7 memory chips and GDDR7 memory controllers will consume less than today's GDDR6 ICs and controllers. PAM3 encoding/decoding is more complex and will require more power. In fact, Samsung even goes on to say that it used an epoxy molding compound (EMC) with high thermal conductivity and a 70% lower thermal resistance for GDDR7 packaging to ensure that the active components (the IC itself) do not overheat, which is an indicator that GDDR7 memory devices are hotter than GDDR6 memory devices, especially when working at high clocks. It is also noteworthy that Samsung's GDDR7 components will offer a low operating voltage option for applications like laptops, but the company does not disclose what kind of performance we should expect from such devices. Truth be told, Samsung's announcement is a little bit shy of details. The company does not say when it plans to start mass production of its GDDR7 components and which process technology it is set to use. Given the cadence of new GPU architecture announcements by AMD and Nvidia — every two years — it is logical to expect next-generation graphics processors to hit the market in 2024, and they are more than likely to adopt GDDR7. Meanwhile, Samsung expects artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and automotive applications to take advantage of GDDR7 as well, so perhaps some sort of AI or HPC ASICs may adopt GDDR7 ahead of GPUs. "Our GDDR7 DRAM will help elevate user experiences in areas that require outstanding graphic performance, such as workstations, PCs and game consoles, and is expected to expand into future applications such as AI, high-performance computing (HPC) and automotive vehicles," said Yongcheol Bae, Executive Vice President of Memory Product Planning Team at Samsung Electronics. "The next-generation graphics DRAM will be brought to market in line with industry demand and we plan on continuing our leadership in the space."

  13. Redmi K70 series has been tipped to launch later this year. The lineup is expected to succeed the Redmi K60 series that was unveiled in December 2022. It included the Redmi K60, the Redmi K60 Pro, and a Redmi K60E model, which came with slightly lowered specifications than the rest of the models like a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC and the 48-megapixel triple rear camera unit. The tipster reportedly does not suggest anything about the camera, but hints at the SoC details of the Redmi K70 lineup. According to a MyDrivers report, tipster Digital Chat Station (translated from Chinese) suggested that the Redmi K70 series of smartphones is expected to launch later this year. The tipster reportedly added that the base Redmi K70 will come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. It is being speculated that the lineup will be announced around December since the preceding series was also introduced around the same time last year. Notably, the Redmi K60 Pro model launched with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, although this leak does not mention any details about the Redmi K70 Pro, nor does it hint at the possibility of a Redmi K70E model. As previously mentioned, the E model came with the most basic features in the lineup. Meanwhile, the base Redmi K60 is powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC paired with an Adreno GPU, up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 inbuilt storage. The phone, along with the other models in the series came with a 6.67-inch 2K (1,440x3,200 pixels) AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The Redmi K60 Pro model is equipped with a 50-megapixel Sony IMX800 primary sensor, an 8-megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide angle lens, and a 2-megapixel sensor with a macro lens. The front camera is equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor. The base variant shares similar optics specifications but sports a 64-megapixel primary sensor instead. Meanwhile, the Redmi K60 Pro is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 120W wired fast charging and 30W wireless fast charging. The base variant packs a larger 5,500mAh battery, but with 67W wired and 30W wireless fast charging support.
  14. Windows 11 running with a tiny amount of system RAM is something we’ve seen before, but this is a new low for the OS (in a good way). NTDEV, the developer responsible for the stripped-back version of Windows 11 called Tiny11, has got Microsoft’s operating system functioning in a PC with only 176MB of system memory. How is this possible? By removing pretty much everything the dev could, and using an “extensive trial and error” process to see which services and drivers Windows 11 required to boot (then getting rid of everything else). Tiny11 has previously been run in as little as 196MB of RAM, the catch with that being that the OS was incredibly slow. You could do things, just about, but at glacial speeds. With NTDEV’s successful attempt at firing up Windows 11 in just 176MB, the system runs relatively responsively, and for example Task Manager is brought up in just a few seconds. (No, that isn’t snappy, but compare it to the 15-minute wait for Task Manager to appear with the 196MB demonstration). It’s an eye-opening difference, for sure, but there’s a big catch here, which we’ll discuss next. Analysis: An impressive feat with a twist of a cheat The cheat NTDEV has used to do this is that they’ve trimmed Tiny11 down even further and removed a major element – File Explorer – allowing Windows 11 to run faster because it doesn’t have to bring up the desktop. That’s right, as you can see in the video clip above, there is no desktop, with the system booting to a command line. You then have to type manual commands (in text) to run different apps and functions, which is hardly ideal. Indeed, it’s a very clunky way of operating, but it does allow for the OS to be much faster. To put this achievement in perspective, normally Window 11 requires 4GB of RAM to run, which is 4096MB. That’s 23x the amount the OS is seen running in here. What’s the point of this? Well, it’s a fun exercise and nothing more, as nobody sane would want to operate Windows 11 in this manner. Much like huge overclocks on GPUs and CPUs that are completely impractical – and happen for seconds, only thanks to exotic cooling with say, liquid nitrogen – these are feats undertaken just to prove it can be done. Although in this case, the goal isn’t big numbers, but small ones – as tiny as possible. Is 176MB a world-record low for running Windows 11 (functionally)? We think it could be, but then, technically, are you running Windows if there’s no desktop? There are still windows, of course – brought up via the command line – but without a desktop and icons, the core graphical interface, this isn’t really Windows, is it? Still, hats off to NTDEV for what remains an impressive achievement.
  15. Cherry, the German computer input devices and keyswitch maker, has launched two new product lines. The first new product is its Cherry MX Experience Box. This presentation box contains one of each of the firm's full-size switches (10 in all), in a tray, with descriptions on the lid - much like a box of chocolates. The second product line is the Cherry MX Switch Kit, in a similar presentation box but featuring 23 single-variety switches. Naturally, there are 10 SKUs of this second new product line. Cherry MX Experience Box A reference set of Cherry MX keys could be an attractive proposition to collectors, enthusiasts, custom PC makers, retailers, reviewers, and so on. This boxed presentation set contains ten types of full-sized Cherry MX switches, which are all that are currently available. Thus the 5x2 row under the lid contains MX RGB Red, MX RGB Speed Silver, MX RGB Silent Red, MX RGB Black, MX RGB Brown, MX RGB Ergo Clear, MX RGB Grey, MX RGB Blue, MX RGB Green, and the MX Black Clear-Top switches. You can see that there is a guide to the various switch specifications and characteristics in the opened lid of the box. We presume anyone who buys the box might poke these for some measure of their 'feel.' However, a better assessment will probably be gained by hot-swapping a switch out of your current keyboard for one of these and giving it a prod - in context. Remember, that the feel can vary considerably depending on your keyboard build, keycap material, and so on. For its price, said to be €9.99, the Cherry MX Experience Box seems pretty good value for the ten switches and packaging. We don't have US pricing, but the Euro price will include VAT, so perhaps we can expect dollar parity, meaning $9.99. One reservation we have about the Cherry MX Experience Box is that the packaging doesn't look like it will last a very long time with repeated handling. It isn't a product that could rival a dedicated hardware MX switch tester (Amazon US link), which is admittedly more pricey. Cherry MX Switch Kit This presentation box is designed more for customizing and building keyboard projects. It shares a similar presentation to the MX Experience Kit; it even includes the same chocolate box-style flavors guide indie the lid - not just detailing the selected switch. Inside these boxes, purchasers will find 23 switches of the single variety indicated. In our picture, the MX Blue kit is featured. We query the creation of a kit of 23 switches, as providing just three more in the box would have made it possible to cover the whole alphabet with the kit supplied. Cherry's product pages and press releases don't mention the reasoning behind this number. Cherry is making 10 SKUs of its MX Switch Kit available. Again we have Euro prices to share and, depending upon the kit selected, the price varies between €14.99 and €19.99 per kit, which seems reasonable. While we are pondering over keyboards, please check out our guides to the Best Budget Mechanical Keyboards of 2023, as well as our very recently updated Best Gaming Keyboards 2023: Full-size, TKL, Mini, and More article.

  22. iPhone 15 series from Apple is expected to be unveiled this year in September by the California-based tech giant. The purported iPhone series will comprise four models of smartphones, including a standard iPhone 15, an iPhone 15 Plus, an iPhone 15 Pro and an iPhone 15 Pro Max. The company is yet to confirm any details about the smartphones but a recent leak has revealed one of the colour options of the iPhone 15 Pro. The smartphone is tipped to come in a new dark blue colour shade. According to a report by MacRumors in collaboration with Tipster Unknownz21 (@URedditor), the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro will reportedly come in a unique dark blue colour which appears to be in a grayish tone. In his tweet, the tipster shared that the rumoured Blue colour of the iPhone 15 Pro is yet to be officially confirmed, however, this could be just a test configuration. The leaked colour is said to be used as a prototype to test the durability of the PVD coating on the new titanium material. According to the leak, the new Blue shade is similar to the one we already have seen for iPhone 12 Pro models. Additionally, the other colour options of the phone could include Silver, Space Gray/Space Black, and Titanium Gray shade. Furthermore, the leaked renders also show the smartphone with a brushed finish hinting at the new titanium material. Apart from these, the iPhone 15 Pro is likely to retain the iPhone 14 Pro design. It is shown to sport a two-button design for the volume controllers while on the back, there could be an identical camera module housing a triple rear camera sensor and LED Flash. Recently, iPhone 15 Pro Max price was leaked by Apple analyst Jeff Pu. He has shared that the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max will be offered at a higher price than the iPhone 14 Pro Max at the time of launch. Pu earlier claimed that both the iPhone 15 Pro models will be priced higher, however, now he has specifically pointed at Pro Max model to cost higher.
  23. Now we’re not one to cut corners, but with Apple putting a new spin on the term with this underrated hidden feature, we’re more than happy to do it here. Aptly called Hot Corners, this simple yet extremely useful feature isn’t exactly new. In fact, its most rudimentary version has been around since macOS High Sierra. But it seems that only the most dedicated and Mac-savvy users are taking advantage of it. Case in point: I asked a friend and longtime MacBook user if he uses it, and he hasn’t even heard of it, and I’m pretty sure he’s not unusual in that regard. However, we love it here at TechRadar; our UK Editor-in-Chief swears by it, and he's far from the only one. And we want to share that love. ]Apple is nothing if not meticulous when it comes to making the lives of users simpler - if not exactly cheaper - and that’s exactly what Hot Corners does. It’s not life-altering, but it definitely saves you time and allows for a more seamless workflow, by making it so that you don’t have to go menu-diving or minimize a bunch of windows every time you want to do basic things like go to your desktop, Plus, it’s so easy to set up, even the most novice Mac users can do it. If you’re one of the many who aren’t using it, trust me: you are, as the kids say, totally missing out. Thinking of upgrading to a new Mac? Our picks of the best Macs and MacBooks should help. So what is Hot Corners? Hot Corners is a simple feature in macOS that allows you to assign an action to every corner of your desktop, then automatically run those actions when you move your mouse cursor to those corners. As I mentioned, Hot Corners isn’t anything new. Even macOS users still roughing it in High Sierra have a version of it, albeit the most basic one that lets you immediately activate your screensaver or lock your screen when you move your cursor to the assigned “hot corner”. It’s with macOS Big Sur, however, where Apple expanded this feature’s functionality. More actions were added, such as opening Notification Center and accessing Launchpad. And modifiers were thrown in as well, so you can have the option to press and hold the Command, Shift, Option, or Control key to activate a corner, which minimizes the possibility of you constantly activating a hot corner by accident. How to set up Hot Corners The best thing about Hot Corners is that not only are they easy to use, but they’re also fast and easy to set up. Apple even pre-assigned the bottom-right corner for you, setting it to Quick Note at default - though you can reassign that if you want. To assign actions to your hot corners, simply tap the Apple menu, choose System Settings, and click on Desktop & Dock in the sidebar. In the Desktop & Dock window, scroll all the way to the bottom then tap the Hot Corners button. You'll see a dialogue box with four pop-up menus - one for each corner. To assign a specific action to a corner, simply click on the appropriate pop-up, then choose the action you want. If you want to use the Command, Shift, Option, or Control key modifier, make sure to press and hold it before making your choice. When you’re finished, tap Done, and your hot corners should be ready to go. Why we love Hot Corners These mouse-pointer based shortcuts may not be among of the biggest features to roll out on macOS, but they’re extremely helpful for fast actions. If you often need quick access to your desktop, for example, you don’t have to minimize all your open windows to just get to it. You simply move your pointer to the hot corner you’ve assigned ‘desktop’ to, and it’ll take you there without fuss. Or, if you need to leave your desk quickly but have sensitive information displayed on your screen, you can instantly lock your computer by simply moving the mouse to the right hot corner (if it's set up that way). At the moment, there are only a handful of actions you can actually assign to these hot corners, which is slightly disappointing. You can’t, for example, delegate a corner to open a specific app. However, I’m sure that Apple will add more actions to the feature with future macOS updates, which means we’ll get a lot more use out of it. If you're not already using it, we suggest you try it out now.
  24. A community-based project recently went live, providing access to the long-lost Windows Update pages, which work with classic versions of Windows to enable updating the OS. The Windows Update Restored site enables updating some classic versions of Windows, and the team members are busy getting their update locations ready. The team eventually hopes to provide service to those installing and updating systems with Windows 95, NT 4.0, 98, Me, 2000, and XP. The site's compatibility pages also have Windows Server 2003, plus Windows "Vista and Newer" entries, indicating they could eventually be part of the roadmap. Right now, the update site that is working and available is limited to a clone of the Windows Update v3.1 website (1997), which covers Windows 95, NT 4.0, and Windows 98 (and SE). The folks behind the project flag to site visitors that isn't an official Microsoft-backed project, and neither are the update pages it links to. Use these pages at your own risk, they warn, and they also stress that the update pages are for "archival purposes only." However, the below video shows that this site is functional for updating an OS. The above video demo walkthrough shows likely scenarios that ancient Windows version users will encounter. At the start of the video, updating Windows 95 looks extremely quick and easy. After firing up the default Internet Explorer (works in v5 and v5.5), the user hits the 'Product Updates' button on the left column of the site. A 'Security Warning' pops up, where you must accept the authenticity of the Windows Update Control Package. Then a 'Please Wait' prompt appears to be replaced by a page full of checkboxes allowing you to select the updates that have been detected to be useful for your Windows system. Watching this first Windows 95 update example unfold, it is startling to see download sizes so small relative to what we're used to today. The critical updates package offered to this OS was just 3.1 MB, a security update weighed in at just 124 KB, and the biggest download we saw was DirectX 8a (recommended, optional) at 11.2 MB. Multiple update page visits and PC restarts might be needed to complete the updating process. Elsewhere in the video, you will see similar demonstrations with other aged OSes. Specifically, the video host also uses the Windows Update Restored v3.1 site to update Windows NT4 to Service Pack 6a and Windows 98 SE with many critical and optional packages. All critical updates for these OSes should be available now, but some optional updates aren't linked at the time of writing. For example, DX8.1 currently won't be downloaded and installed in Windows 95, even if you check the box on the update page. In the above table, you can see the web addresses you need to point Internet Explorer at, in the respective OSes, to access the cloned Windows Update pages. For clarity, we reiterate that Windows 95, NT 4.0, and Windows 98 (and SE) are updatable at the v3.windowsupdaterestored.com address. Windows Update pages which work their similar updating magic on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and support for Windows Vista or Newer are still being prepared. No timescale has been given for these pages appearing, so you will have to wait and see or check on the project's MSFN Forum posts. Windows Me and Windows 2000 are also not yet covered by the update service, but the video mentions a "near future" launch target for support for these OSes. Windows Update Restored is both a welcome and interesting project, but it isn't officially recommended by the team for maintaining the use of older versions of Windows. We agree and would like to steer PC users to more secure modern OSes like Windows 10 and 11 (and the latest versions of Linux) for your browsing, connected tasks, gaming, and productivity.
