Musician Name:Kylie Ann Minogue Birthday / Location: May 28, 1968 (age 55) Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Main instrument: Pop Dance-pop disco Musician Picture: Musician Awards & Nominations:- Best Performance: - Other Information: Kylie Ann Minogue OBE OA /mᵻˈnoʊɡ/ (born 28 May 1968), often referred to mononymously as Kylie,[4][5] is an Australian singer, songwriter, actress, record producer and television personality. With sales of over 80 million records worldwide, Minogue is the Australian artist who has sold the most units of all time and has been recognized for reinventing herself in music and fashion, being referred to by the European press as the "Princess of Pop " and a style icon. Born and raised in Melbourne, Minogue began her career as a child actress, appearing in the soap opera The Sullivans (1979), as well as in the television series Skyways (1980) and The Henderson Kids (1985), where she landed a prominent role. She later achieved national recognition starring in the soap opera Neighbors (1986-88). She decided to venture out as a recording artist in the late 1980s, releasing four bubblegum pop and dance pop-influenced studio albums produced by Stock Aitken Waterman, accumulating several top ten singles in the UK and Australia, including "I Should Be So Lucky", "The Loco-Motion", "Hand on Your Heart" and "Better the Devil You Know". Taking greater creative control over her music, Minogue released the albums Kylie Minogue (1994) and Impossible Princess (1997), receiving positive reviews but lesser commercial success. In 2000, she returned to mainstream dance music with Light Years, which was preceded by the single "Spinning Around". From the next album, Fever (2001), the track "Can't Get You Out of My Head" was taken, which became one of the most successful singles of that decade, selling more than five million units. Minogue continued reinventing her image and experimenting with a variety of genres on her next albums, which produced hit singles such as "Slow", "2 Hearts" and "All the Lovers". With the release of Disco in 2020, she became the first female artist to have at least one album at the top of the UK charts for five consecutive decades. Minogue made her film debut in The Delinquents (1989) and played Cammy in Street Fighter (1994). She also appeared in the films Moulin Rouge! (2001), Jack & Diane, Holy Motors (2012) and San Andreas (2015). In 2014, the artist appeared as a judge and technician on the third seasons of The Voice UK and The Voice Australia. During her career, she has been honored with numerous awards, including a Grammy, three Brit Awards and 17 ARIA Music Awards. At the 25th anniversary of the ARIA Music Awards in 2011, she was inducted by the Australian Recording Industry Association into the ARIA Hall of Fame. Her honors include appointments to the Order of the British Empire and Order of Arts and Letters for her musical and cultural contributions. Minogue was also awarded an honorary Doctor of Health Sciences (D.H.Sc.) by Ruskin University of Anglia for her work in breast cancer awareness. Her other endeavors include product endorsements, children's books, fashion, and charity work.

Redmi is reportedly working on Note 13 series smartphones. The Chinese mobile manufacturing company unveiled the Redmi Note 12 series this year. The series includes both 4G and 5G models. All the Note 12 series handsets carry high-quality AMOLED displays. After the 5G models were released in January, the lineup has also seen the addition of models like the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition, Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition and the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. Now, a report suggests that the company is looking to release the another series as the successor to the Redmi Note 12 lineup. According to an ITHome report, a new Redmi model was spotted on the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) website. It is therefore being speculated that the model could be one from the purported Redmi Note 13 series, which is likely to succeed the Redmi Note 12 series. However, there is no additional information available officially, or even through industry leaks. It is advisable to take this bit of news with a pinch of salt. Xiaomi, Redmi's parent company, launches smartphones under different monikers. In India, many Redmi phones released first in China have been rebranded and launched as Poco smartphones, which is also a Xiaomi subsidiary. It is also unlikely that the company will launch the Redmi Note 13 models in the market anytime soon. The Note 12 series models and all its variants are still relatively new in the space. As is the trend with most phone manufacturing companies, two successive series usually get a gap of at least a year in between their releases. It can be assumed that Redmi Note 13 series will most probably be available towards the beginning of 2024. Launched in January, the Redmi Note 12 5G smartphones included the Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G models. The 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant of the base model is priced in India at Rs. 17,999. The mid-range Pro model is marked at Rs. 24,999 for its 6GB RAM + 128GB storage option, while the high-end Pro+ starts at Rs. 29,999 for its 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option. In March, Redmi introduced the Note 12 4G which is listed at EUR 229 (roughly Rs. 20,400) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant. The Redmi Note 12 Pro 4G was unveiled in April and was marked at IDR 4,599,000 (roughly Rs. 25,000) for its base 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option.

Windows 11’s feature update known as Moment 3 arrived last month, didn’t it? Well technically, yes, but the update hasn’t been piped to everyone, only some users; it’ll fully roll out next month. So, what exactly is going on here? As Windows Latest points out, the folks who have already got Moment 3 features as part of June’s cumulative update (released 10 days ago) are those who have turned on the ‘Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available’ option (under Windows Update settings). What seems to be happening, going by other reports and user feedback we’ve seen online (on top of Windows Latest’s findings), is that this is a gradual (phased) rollout, with those who have flicked that particular setting on being prioritized. Others are getting the June update but without Moment 3 features enabled. However, come next month, everyone is going to get Moment 3 features fully enabled on their Windows 11 PC, with the July cumulative update (due on July 11, ‘Patch Tuesday’). Windows Latest observes: “We have also spotted references to Patch Tuesday of July 2023 having the Moment 3 improvements turned on by default.” Indeed, the same is true for the optional update for June, which is about to turn up. That’s the July patch in test (preview) form, so it’s the same content, but with the proviso that it might come with some bugs (as with any early release). Analysis: many Moments so far… If you’ve been reading about Moment 3 and its raft of new features – and some of them are pretty cool, including our five favorites we picked out here – you might also be wondering why you hadn’t got these yet. Well, now you know, and it’s not long before this phased rollout will be opened up to everyone running Windows 11. You’ll have Moment 3 features by mid-July at the latest. Since Microsoft introduced the idea of Moments – which are feature updates outside of the big annual feature drop, and are necessary since the two major feature updates per year cadence (H1, H2) was reduced to one (H2) – the company has been pushing them out at some pace. We only had Moment 2 in February, so it was just four months afterwards that the Moment 3 rollout kicked off. Of course, all attention will now be turning towards 23H2 – the major annual update for this year – which should bring in all sorts of goodies. Including, we hope, ‘never combine’ for the taskbar, and maybe Microsoft’s Copilot AI, which is certainly rumored for inclusion (though we have our doubts – that’ll likely depend on how well testing goes, which should start later this month).

Intel has shared a new poster on Bilibili that officially confirms the existence of a Raptor Lake refresh. The new CPU lineup will take on Intel’s existing Intel Core i series nomenclature and arrive as 14th Generation products. The new refresh will consist of two CPU platforms, one for desktop and one for mobile, including S series and HX/U series parts for high performance and ultrabook laptops. We first heard about Raptor Lake Refresh all the way back in 2022 when an Intel roadmap was leaked online. The leaked roadmap revealed consumer and workstation desktop CPU lineups with 35W - 125W TDPs, however the roadmap was leaked so there was a chance it was faced. However, several months later the leak was compounded by motherboard BIOS updates featuring support for “next generation” Intel CPUs, which effectively confirmed its existence. The BIOS updates proved this because Intel’s next generation CPU architecture, Meteor Lake, will use a brand new socket, making current motherboard compatibility impossible. The one thing leaks and rumors did not account for was a Raptor Lake refresh for mobile CPUs as well as desktop. Intel’s new poster now confirms that the new refresh will be arriving to both platforms, specifically featuring high performance HX-series mobile parts and low-power U-series parts. But strangely, the U-series parts will come with an entirely different nomenclature and be named “Intel Core 1st generation processor” instead of 14th gen. According to a Q&A answer, Intel is doing this because the U-series parts will be coming out at a later date, it doesn’t explain why Intel is not switching to its newly announced Core Ultra nomenclature instead. Intel still has not published performance benchmarks or CPU specs for its Raptor Lake refreshed parts, but if it's like any traditional Intel refresh, we can expect these CPUs to feature modest bumps in clock speed and some additional changes that will boost speed, and functionality. For example, Intel might boost clock speeds on all the parts, and change around the core count for some models to make them stand out from previous generation Raptor Lake (vanilla) and Alder Lake chips. We still don’t have a official release date, but previous leaks estimate that the first wave of K series chips will arrive as early as 2023. Intel has not confirm this, but we can expect these chips to launch this soon since BIOS updates are already going live to current 700 series motherboards supporting Intel’s new processors.

Windows 11 has a new preview build, this time in the Release Preview channel, which introduces a whole bunch of changes – both good and bad. Most of this stuff has already been seen in earlier test builds (Canary, Dev, or Beta channels), and Windows 11 build 22621.1926 (KB5027303) represents all these features progressing towards release. Now that they’re in Release Preview, this is the final step before these various features turn up in the full version of Windows 11 at some point in the near(ish) future. So, let’s get the bad news out of the way first, namely that Microsoft has announced in the blog post for this preview build that adverts (which the company calls ‘badging’ – we’ll come back to that) on the Start menu are moving towards a broader rollout. Microsoft explains: “This update expands the roll out of notification badging for Microsoft accounts on the Start menu. A Microsoft account is what connects Windows to your Microsoft apps. The account backs up all your data and helps you to manage your subscriptions.” The company adds: “This feature gives you quick access to important account-related notifications.” With that out of the way, the better news that caught our eye for gamers is that improved mouse performance is on the way. Microsoft tells us that when using a mouse with a high polling rate – so any of the contenders for best gaming mouse in other words, designed for accurate and precise mousing – you’ll now get better performance. This is thanks to any stuttering being reduced for these kinds of mice, so that’s a big thumbs-up there. Another interesting point to note with this preview build is a broad assertion that: “This update affects the reliability of Windows. It improves after you update the OS.” Anything that ushers in better stability must be a good thing too, naturally. Analysis: an ominous sign It’s great to see the improvement for high polling rate gaming mice, which will help not just for shooters – where you might typically think accuracy is crucial, and of course, it is – but also for, say, real-time strategy games. The ability to smoothly mouse around and quickly and precisely select units, for example, can’t be underestimated. Whatever game you play, smoother and more accurate mouse movement is a major plus point. What’s bugging us here is the continued push with badging in the Start menu. Badging is a term Microsoft employs which basically translates to light-touch advertising. Yes, the company might argue these are simply nudges to help you sort out various elements of your computing life related to Windows, but really, they’re thinly veiled ads to use Microsoft products and services. In this case, the cajoling is to push you towards signing up for a Microsoft Account, with Windows 11 telling you about the security (and other) benefits of doing so in these notifications which appear in the Start menu. The expanded rollout of this badging previously happened in the Dev channel, but the fact that it has carried forward to the final preview stage before the release version of Windows 11 is rather ominous. This further progression of the rollout in testing suggests that this is something Microsoft is determined to forge ahead with. If that does indeed play out, we can only hope that Microsoft gives users an option to disable this kind of ‘help’ feature (but we aren’t holding our breath on that score).

Intel today announced it has agreed to sell an approximately 20% stake in IMS Nanofabrication to Bain Capital, a private equity firm, valuing IMS at approximately $4.3 billion. Intel first invested in IMS in 2019 and acquired the Vienna, Austria-based business in 2015. IMS makes important chip-making tools, and works specifically on multi-beam mask writing, which has been helpful for leading-edge semiconductor nodes using extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV). IMS will continue to be led by chief executive officer Dr. Elmar Platzgummer and will operate as a standalone subsidiary. "The advancement of lithography is critical to driving continued progress in the semiconductor industry, and mask writing plays a central role in the industry’s transition to new patterning technologies, such as high-NA EUV," said Matt Poirier, senior vice president of corporate development at Intel in a press release. "Bain Capital’s investment and partnership will provide IMS with increased independence and bring strategic perspective to help accelerate the next phase of lithography technology innovation, ultimately benefitting the ecosystem as a whole." Intel suggests that the "increased independence" will help fast-track more innovation in lithography and that it will ultimately help the "ecosystem as a whole" by fostering collaboration across the industry. Intel's sale of the minority stake is expected to close in the third quarter of 2023. This year, IMS is expected to launch MBMW-301, a fourth-generation multi-beam mask writer. Later today, Intel is expected to provide updates on its internal foundry plans. It's unclear if this announcement was dropped because it will have an effect on this news. Intel's stock was down slightly in morning trading.

OnePlus has yet to officially start teasing fans about its upcoming Nord series smartphone, but a new post on its community forum seems to have inadvertently released some information about the same. The OnePlus Nord 3 is expected to be the successor to the OnePlus Nord 2T 5G, which was launched in India last year as a mid-range smartphone. While there have been unofficial reports about the phone arriving in India in July, there's now an official post confirming the launch. OnePlus recently put out a post for its “The Lab” campaign that basically lets tech enthusiasts review its handsets ahead of an official launch. The post finally confirms that the phone will be called the OnePlus Nord 3. It also explains that those who join the program will need to submit reviews of the shared handsets by July, which is when the reviews will go live. OnePlus did not give out a specific date. As a part of its Lab program OnePlus will only be hand-picking six users to review its upcoming Nord product. The OnePlus Nord 3, as per a previous report was expected to be released in June. The report also contained leaked images of what was said to be the OnePlus Nord 3 along with its packaging. According to a more recent report, the OnePlus Nord 3 was spotted with a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC on a Geekbench website, that also suggested other key specifications like the presence of a variant with 16GB of RAM. The phone managed a score of 1,153 points and 3,180 points in Geekbench's single and multi-core tests respectively in a test conducted on June 8. The phone could be a rebadged version of the OnePlus Ace 2V, which was launched in China earlier this year. The smartphone has a 6.74-inch 2.5D AMOLED display with a full-HD+ resolution. It gets three rear cameras including a 64-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. A 16-megapixel camera is in charge of selfies. The phone offers up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. There's a 5,000mAh battery that supports up to 80W wired charging.

Meta – the tech titan formerly known as Facebook – desperately wants to take pole position at the forefront of AI research, but things aren’t exactly going to plan. As reported by Gizmochina, Meta lost a third of its AI research staff in 2022, many of whom cited burnout or lack of faith in the company’s leadership as their reasons for departing. An internal survey from earlier this year showed that just 26% of employees expressed confidence in Meta’s direction as a business. CEO Mark Zuckerberg hired French computer scientist and roboticist Yann LeCun to lead Meta’s AI efforts back in 2013, but in more recent times Meta has visibly struggled to keep up with the rapid pace of AI expansion demonstrated by competing platforms like ChatGPT and Google Bard. LeCun was notably not among the invitees to the White House’s recent Companies at the Frontier of Artificial Intelligence Innovation summit. That’s not to say that Meta is failing completely in the AI sphere; recent reveals like a powerful AI music creator and a speech-generation tool too dangerous to release to the public show that the Facebook owner isn’t exactly sitting on its hands when it comes to AI development. So why is it still lagging behind? Change of direction The clue’s in the name: remember back in 2021, when the then-ubiquitous Facebook underwent a total rebrand to become ‘Meta’? At the time, it was supposed to herald a new era of technology, led by our reptilian overlord Zuckerberg. Enter the metaverse, he said, where your wildest dreams can come true. Two years down the line, it’s become pretty clear that his Ready Player Zuck fantasies aren’t going to materialize; at least, not for quite a while. AI, on the other hand, really is the new technology frontier – but Meta’s previous obsession with the metaverse has left it on the back foot in the AI gold rush. Even though Meta has now shifted to AI as its prime area of investment and has maintained an AI research department for years, it’s fair to say that the Facebook owner failed to capitalize on the AI boom late last year. According to Gizmochina, employees have been urging management to shift focus back towards generative AI, which fell by the wayside in favor of the company’s metaverse push. Meta commentary Perhaps Meta is simply spread too thin. Back in February, Zuckerberg described 2023 as the company’s “year of efficiency” – a thin cover for Meta’s mass layoffs and project closures back in November 2022, which have seen internal morale fall to an all-time low. Meta is still trying to push ahead in the VR market with products like the Meta Quest Pro, and recently announced it would be releasing a Twitter rival, supposedly called ‘Threads’. In any case, it seems that Meta might have simply missed the boat. ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing AI are already making huge waves in the wider public sphere, along with the best AI art generators such as Midjourney. It’s hard to see where Meta’s AI projects will fit in the current lineup; perhaps Zuckerberg should just stick to social media instead. Or maybe we'll see Meta pull another hasty name-change to become 'MetAI' or something equally ridiculous. The possibilities are endless!

The goals of China's 'Made in China 2025' program cannot be achieved, according to a report by DigiTimes that cites Wei Shaojun, a professor at Tsinghua University and Deputy Chairman of the China Semiconductor Industry Association. Not only will Chinese chipmakers not be able to satisfy 70% of the local IC demand in 2025, but their profitability, capitalization, and ability to invest in development are greatly behind those of their rivals. In a recent address at the China Nansha International IC Industry Forum, Wei Shaojun pointed out that despite a rise in the value share of domestically produced chips from 13% in 2013 to 41.4% in 2022, the ambitious goal of reaching a 70% self-reliance rate for semiconductors, a key objective of the "Made in China 2025" initiative, seems nearly unattainable. That's due to the current global shifts that made both U.S. and Europe fund their semiconductor sectors from the governments' pocket. Wei highlighted an imbalance between supply and demand in China's IC design sector, pointing out that while the monthly demand of the country is about 1.5 million 300mm wafer starts per month (WSPM), domestically owned Chinese semiconductor producers can only provide a monthly output of 440,000 WSPMs. The professor from Tsinghua University, an organization that has been particularly instrumental in the development of the local IC sector, underscored a critical misapprehension regarding the advancement of China's chip fabrication sector over the last ten years. The accelerated growth of China's semiconductor production industry was largely due to foreign companies operating within the country. From 2016 onward, Chinese investor-owned semiconductor companies have experienced an average compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.7%. Yet, non-Chinese wafer fabrication enterprises from Taiwan, South Korea, and elsewhere, have seen a higher CAGR of 30%. This not only doubles the expansion pace of Chinese-owned businesses but also underlines the continued reliance on external assistance in China's semiconductor manufacturing industry. The highly ranked executive of the China Semiconductor Industry Association also noted that the Chinese publicly traded semiconductor companies are currently underperforming, marked by the IC design sector's low gross profit margins. Amid the AI boom that skyrocketed Nvidia's market value to over $1 trillion, Wei Shaojun pointed out that 135 Chinese semiconductor firms on China's STAR and ChiNext markets have a combined value of less than half of Nvidia's. Moreover, these firms' average gross profit margin of 39.1% in 2022, particularly 34.2% for the STAR-listed IC design companies, is significantly lower than the over 60% enjoyed by U.S. chip developers indicating that Chinese companies are still operating at lower profitability levels.
