The mobile social network, a former competitor of Facebook, on Monday said it'll be shutting down over the next two months. Starting Oct. 1, you won't be able to download the app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play store. Path will shut its service on Oct. 18, then customer service will close on Nov. 15. "We started Path in 2010 as a small team of passionate and experienced designers and engineers," the company wrote in a blog post. "Along our journey we have laughed and cried with you, and learned valuable lessons. And it is now inevitable to wind down the service to prioritize our work to serve you with better products and services." The app didn't have brand pages, groups or event invitations. It limited the number of connections you could have to 150 so you could share personal moments with loved ones. The company was acquired by Daum Kakao, a South Korean messaging app maker, in 2015. Path didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

After a tersely worded ultimatum was issued from the government of Greece’s North Aegean region that demanded immediate action be taken to clean up the overcrowded Moria refugee camp on the island of Lesbos, preparations to send up to 3,000 migrants to the Greek mainland are now being put into motion. According to what an EU source told New Europe on September 17, after repeated calls for the EU executive’s “Plan B” on the evacuation of the overcrowded camp, “the European Commission, having repeatedly alerted the Greek authorities about the very challenging situation at (the) Moria (camp) has discussed and the urgent need to address this situation and, as always, ensured the availability of EU funds to help face the challenges. The Commission is also offering its support to transfer vulnerable applicants to the mainland to help ease the pressure on the island.” According to the data available, over 32,000 at-risk refugees have been transferred to the mainland with the support of the UNHCR, EU funding or own means. “More than 3,000 migrants whose geographic restrictions have been lifted are expected to leave the islands for the mainland – the Commission is hoping to accelerate this process,” the EU source told New Europe ahead of European Commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos’ visit to Athens later in the week. The Commissioner is expected to discuss matters concerning the implementation of the EU-Turkey statement during his meeting with the Greek authorities. Greece has born the brunt of Europe’s refugee crisis with over 60,000 migrants still stuck in refugee camps across the country. Aid organisations estimate that more than a million and a half migrants have illegally crossed into Europe since the summer of 2015, the majority of which used Greece as their entry point into the European Union.

Now you can identify tens of millions of songs. On Friday, Google said it has integrated its Sound Search function into Now Playing, a music recognition feature, to faster and more accurately and faster match songs. Sound Search works on Google's Search app, Google Assistant or any Android phone. To use the service, start a voice query. If there's music playing near you, the app or device will ask, "What's this song?" Clicking on a pop-up will start the identification process. You can also ask, "Hey Google, what's this song?" The music recognition technology gives each audio piece a unique "fingerprint" that is compared against a database, according to a Google blog post. Sound Search is a server-side system so it isn't constrained by storage or processing capacity, enabling the possibility of matching against tens of millions of songs. "We still think there's room for improvement though — we don't always match when music is very quiet or in very noisy environments, and we believe we can make the system even faster," Google wrote in the blog post. "We are continuing to work on these challenges with the goal of providing the next generation in music recognition."

.P. Morgan (NYSE:JPM 113.5 ) yesterday indicated that it thinks Intel (NASDAQ:INTC 45.54 ) is in the midst of a chip supply shortage which is getting worse in an analyst note to clients. Gokul Hariharan wrote that: Before going on to say that “We expect this to affect both notebook and desktop PCs and likely to have a higher impact on commercial and high end consumer PCs, where using AMD or older Intel family of CPUs are more difficult.” PM is predicting that this will hit both notebook and desktop PC sales coming up to the end of the year with Q4 PC shipments down by between 5 and 7 percent. Intel 10nm Woes Strike Again? Hariharan suspects that Intel has shut down some of its chip fabrication manufacturing facilities in the long awaited move to 10nm, a topic we’ve covered time and again including in Usman’s excellent piece here. Work of this nature of course takes time and is likely to be contributing to the supply squeeze which vendors are discussing with JPM. CNBC reached out to Intel on the back of the J.P. Morgan report and got an interesting statement in response with the company saying: So Intel is certainly confident in its revenue projections for the year and to be clear, it still regularly puts in numbers that AMD (NASDAQ:AMD 32.72 0.07%) can only dream about, but that’s not really the question now is it. Meeting projections at this level is based on broad, cross-sector revenue and people are trying to ascertain whether chip supply is going to suffer. Intel can potentially pump its business for revenue from areas other than chip supply to hit its numbers.

More than ever, designers are being forced to consider who should be seen Chromat founder Becca McCharen-Tran has long championed broader inclusion by casting a diverse range of femme, female-identified and gender non-binary models on her runways, featuring people of all different shapes, sizes, ages and abilities. This season, her models wore swimwear and athletic apparel, inspired by the idea of wearing T-shirts at pool parties in an effort to hide one's body. Elsewhere, British artist Patrick Church confronted ageism with a series of printed bodysuits, crop tops and skin-tight wares that were modeled exclusively by older women. Kerby Jean-Raymond, of the buzzy label Pyer Moss, used slogans like "See Us Now?" in his range -- particularly potent, given that his brand is dedicated to celebrating and elevating the experiences of African Americans. One of his line's most talked-about designs was a simple graphic tee printed with the words "Stop Calling 911 On The Culture," a reference to recent high-profile incidents of unnecessary and racially motivated calls being made to US police. The $125 item went on to sell out within a day of release. Pitch-perfect collaborations With high fashion increasingly taking its cues from the streetwear market -- which prizes partnerships and "drops" -- it's no surprise that there were a number of collaborations on show. Luxury label The Blonds, known for its over-the-top looks, partnered with Disney on a collection inspired by the studio's villains. Yes, Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella de Vil all got their runway moments on the backs of Paris Hilton, Leiomy Maldonado and Patrick Starr, among others. Streetwear label Kith welcomed brands like Ugg, New Balance and Levi's to its roster of collaborators, in addition to producing collections for Tommy Hilfiger and Greg Lauren. In an unexpected twist, the label also unveiled a 24-look capsule collection with Versace, featuring fur jackets, sweatsuits, biker shorts and more. The fashion show as 'happening' With the over-proliferation of fashion shows and the growing role of social media, brands are opting for increasingly dramatic fashion week productions. What may have once been a simple catwalk show is now a high-wattage fete, complete with dancers, drones and live musicians. To that end, Telfar, winner of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award in 2017, held its show on a helipad near the East River. Featuring the likes of Selah Marley and Moses Sumney, and presided over by singer Ian Isiah and South African duo Faka, the event saw audiences watched behind a chain-link fence while performers roamed freely around a drum set. New York label Opening Ceremony put on a performance -- though one of a different kind altogether. Founders Humberto Leon and Carol Kim recruited drag queen Sasha Velour to curate a line-up of performers to showcase the brand's new wares, including notable queens like Shea Coulee and Hungry, as well as non-drag talent like Christina Aguilera. Ralph Lauren arguably went the biggest (it was the brand's 50th anniversary, after all). He took the industry to Central Park's Bethesda Terrace, where the likes of Hillary Clinton, Kanye West and Donna Karan listened to Oprah pay tribute to the designer. The fashion veteran also turned out a casting that spanned a range of ages and races, as well as a collection showing the company's breadth, from Polo Sport and RRL to women's evening wear. Rihanna steals the spotlight Rihanna closed out New York Fashion Week with a show for her lingerie and intimates line, Savage X Fenty. And while the event started late (the organizers were waiting for editors to arrive from the delayed Marc Jacobs show), it has attracted almost universal praise.
