Armenia and Azerbaijan agree to cease fire : Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said Armenia and Azerbaijan had agreed to a ceasefire, starting from 12:00 on Saturday, to exchange prisoners and bodies of those killed in the conflict. Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to a ceasefire starting on Saturday to exchange prisoners and bodies of those killed in the conflict between Azeri and ethnic Armenian forces over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said. The talks were the first diplomatic contact between the enemies since fighting over the breakaway enclave erupted on Sept. 27, killing hundreds of people. The ceasefire begins at 12 p.m. Lavrov, who mediated the negotiations in Moscow, announced the ceasefire at 3 a.m.(midnight GMT) after 10 hours of talks with his Armenian and Azeri counterparts. He also said Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to start talks on the settlement of the conflict. Russia’s top diplomat added that International Red Cross Committee would act as an intermediary in the humanitarian operation. He did not provide details on the talks but said the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s (OSCE) Minsk Group would mediate. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and his Azeri counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov did not speak to reporters. The mountain enclave belongs to Azerbaijan under international law but broke away in a war as the Soviet Union collapsed and is po[CENSORED]ted and governed by ethnic Armenians. The renewed fighting in the decades-old conflict has raised fears of a wider war drawing in Turkey, a close ally of Azerbaijan, and Russia, which has a defence pact with Armenia. The clashes have also increased concern about the security of pipelines that carry Azeri oil and gas to Europe. The fighting is the worst since a 1991-94 war that killed about 30,000 people and ended with a ceasefire that has been violated repeatedly. Azerbaijan said on Friday that 31 Azeri civilians had been killed and 168 wounded since Sept. 27. It has not disclosed information about military casualties. Nagorno-Karabakh said 376 of its military personnel and 22 civilians had been killed since the beginning of the conflict.

Moderna will not enforce coronavirus vaccine patent during pandemic Moderna Inc has said that it will not enforce patents on its Covid-19 vaccine during the coronavirus pandemic. Moderna Inc has said it would not enforce patents related to its experimental Cocid-19 vaccine during the pandemic and would not pursue any litigation against companies that make use of its technology after the coronavirus outbreak ends. The decision was taken to allow other drugmakers to develop shots using the Moderna's technology, Moderna executives said. The company also said it was willing to license the technology behind the vaccine after the pandemic. Moderna will not be asserting its intellectual property rights for its vaccine technology. Moderna has received over $1 billion in government funding to develop and produce its candidate, and another $1.5 billion to supply it to the American public. “We’re quite studiously not asserting infringement," Moderna President Stephen Hoge said in an interview, the Wall Street Journal reported. “We’re doing the opposite of creating that kind of anxiety for folks. We’re not interested in using that IP to decrease the number of vaccines available in a pandemic." Moderna was the first company to announce and carry out human trials for an RNA-based drug earlier in March, saying it would be able to produce “a limited vaccine by fall of 2020”. Moderna’s vaccine is one of the 11 experimental vaccines in final trial stages.

Can vitamin D help the body fight coronavirus? Here’s what a study find Researchers found that patients who were vitamin D-sufficient, had better immunity and could fight the viral infection We all know that good health is the sum total of many different minerals, vitamins, proteins, etc., that come to us either through our food, or through our lifestyle choices — such as exercising every day and sleeping on time. While it is a known fact that the sun is the best source of vitamin D, a recent study has found that vitamin D can reduce COVID-19’s severity among patients, thereby giving them another reason to stay under the sun for a longer time. According the Boston University School of Medicine — that conducted the study — COVID-19 patients with adequate levels of vitamin D have lesser chance of showing “adverse clinical effects of the coronavirus" — like becoming unconscious and suffering from hypoxia (when there is oxygen deficiency in the body). The results of the study were published in Plos One medical journal. Researchers also found that patients who were vitamin D-sufficient, had lower levels of an inflammatory marker in the blood (known as the C-reactive protein), and higher levels of lymphocytes, which is a type of immune cell that helps in the fight against the infection, reports The National. “This study provides direct evidence that vitamin D sufficiency can reduce the complications and ultimately death from COVID-19,” author Michael F Holick, professor of medicine, physiology and biophysics, and molecular medicine, was quoted as saying. For the research, the blood samples of 235 hospitalised coronavirus patients were drawn and studied. While you can take vitamin supplements, doctors advise that spending some early hours of the day under sun can help your body absorb the vitamin. This, in turn, can help you become healthier.

Coronavirus crisis made worse by China, says US Secy of state during Quad meet During the second Quad ministerial ministers meet, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the coronavirus crisis made worse by China. The second Quad ministerial ministers meeting among foreign ministers of Australia, Indian, Japan and the US took place on Tuesday in Tokyo. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the four ministers attended the conference. It was the first international conference held in Japan after the outbreak. The meeting lasted about three hours where the focus was on how to counter an assertive China. According to a statement released by the Japanese foreign ministry, “The four ministers said that "free and open Indo-Pacific" is a vision for regional peace and prosperity, and that it is becoming more and more important in the post-corona world. We confirmed the importance of expanding cooperation to countries. In this regard, the Ministers reaffirmed their strong support for ASEAN unity and centrality and the ASEAN-led regional framework, as well as their full support for the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.” “We also welcomed the positive efforts of Europe and other countries on the Free and Open Indo-Pacific", the statement added. The four ministers also exchanged views on the regional situation in North Korea, the East China Sea and the South China Sea. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo minced no words when he attacked China and referred to Chinese aggression including the current border stand-off between India and China. “As partners in this Quad, it is more critical now than ever that we collaborate to protect our people and partners from the CCP’s exploitation, corruption, and coercion. We’ve seen it in the south, in the East China Sea, the Mekong, the Himalayas, the Taiwan Straits. These are just a few examples,” he said in his opening remarks at the meet. “When we met, now last year, the landscape was very different. We couldn’t have imagined the pandemic that came from Wuhan. That crisis was made infinitely worse by the Chinese Communist Party’s coverup. The regime’s authoritarian nature led its leaders to lock up and silence the very brave Chinese citizens who were raising the alarm,” Pompeo added. India’s External Affairs Minister asserted the need for “pluralistic” democracies to come together and ensure an “inclusive” and “open” Indo-Pacific. Without naming China, Jaishankar said that India will remain committed to respect for “territorial integrity” and “sovereignty”. During his opening remarks he said, “As wide-brimmed and pluralistic democracies with shared values, our nations have affirmed collectively the importance of maintaining a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific. We remain committed to upholding the rules-based international order underpinned by the rule of law, transparency, freedom of navigation in international seas, and respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty and peaceful resolution of disputes.” He expanded on the need for like-minded countries to coordinate responses to various challenges like the Covid pandemic has thrown up. “As we collectively navigate these uncharted waters, we seek to emerge from the pandemic more resilient than ever before,” he said. He reminded the forum of India’s inclusion into the UNSC as a non-permanent member from January 2021 and the issues that New Delhi would focus on. “You are also aware that India assumes membership of the UN Security Council next year. We look forward to seeking collective solutions to global challenges, including global recovery from the pandemic and reform of multilateral institutions,” he said. After US, the other country that is having a bitter diplomatic war with China is Australia. While Australia is yet to be a part of the military framework within the Quad, Foreign Minister Payne stressed on the positive agenda of this “diplomatic network that assists us as democracies to align ourselves in support of shared interests,” she said. Like others, she pushed for greater engagement with ASEAN nations when she said during her opening remarks, “Australia is achieving this vision in our engagement across the Indo-Pacific by working closely with ASEAN, by stepping up with the Pacific, including supporting regional institutions such as the Pacific Islands Forum.” “Today, we will exchange strategic assessments and agree to actions to support our aligned interests in areas including health cooperation, maritime security, critical minerals and technologies, countering disinformation, and humanitarian assistance,” she added. The Chinese have reacted sharply to the Quad meeting as they always have. "We hope relevant countries can proceed from the common interests of countries in the region, and do more things that are conducive to regional peace, stability and development, not the other way around," Chinese foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin had said at one of his press briefings. The three visiting foreign ministers along with Japanese foreign minister Motegi called on Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide. The meeting lasted for approximately 20 minutes. “Prime Minister SUGA stated that various challenges facing the international society after the outbreak and spread of Covid-19 make it all the more necessary to further deepen ties with many more countries which share the vision of “Free and Open Indo-Pacific” and build up concrete cooperation with them,” Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement. The informal grouping was championed by Japan's then prime minister Shinzo Abe in 2006 under the vision of an "arc of freedom and prosperity" for the countries bordering the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The Quad group was represented by US’ Mike Pompeo, Japan's Toshimitsu Motegi, Australia's Marise Payne and India's Jaishankar. The meeting ended with dinner and birthday celebrations of Japanese foreign minister Motegi where a cake decorated with all four country flags was cut. “At the dinner party, I had my birthday celebrated with a cake,” the Japanese Foreign Minister tweeted.

HIGHLIGHTS The Ferrari Omologata is a one-off creation which means it is not meant for series production. The Ferrari Omologata project took a little over two years to complete. The The Ferrari Omologata is powered by a V12 engine. Any Ferrari is special but having a one-off creation is beyond anything. Commissioned by an European client, the latest offering in Ferrari’s line of unique coachbuilt one-off models is called the Ferrari Omologata. The Ferrari Omologata project took a little over two years to complete from the initial presentation of sketches, starting with images that covered a variety of inspirations, from racing heritage to sci-fi and references to modern architecture. The special is based on the 812 Superfast and only the windscreen and headlights from the standard car are carried forward here. The objective was to exploit the proportions of the potent, mid-front layout to deliver a very sleek design. To cut a long story short, the new Ferrari gets a flattened oval grille, a contrasting stripe that spreads across the bonnet and a large rear spoiler too. Ferrari claims that the spoiler not just adds to the look of the Omologata but also adds downforce. The rear screen has been done away with too. As for the colour, the Omologata is treated with a newly developed custom Rosso Magma paint and features racing-inspired graphics. Inside, the Omologata has a number of trim elements designed to link to Ferrari's racing cars, including four-point racing harnesses for the blue seats. Metal elements of the dashboard and steering wheel are finished with a crackled paint effect. A ‘hammered’ paint finish which was used in the 250 LM and 250 GTO is applied to the inner door handles and badge. Powering this Ferrari is a V12 but exact specifications have not been revealed. We expect it to come with the same motor as the 812 and this means it is going to be a 6.5-litre motor offering around 789bhp. Good enough to proper the Omologata to 100kmph in just 2.9 seconds.

Monsoon skincare tips: Doctors tell you how to get healthy and radiant skin Monsoons will not affect your skin any longer as we list tips and tricks for you as prescribed by dermatologists. As the monsoon season arrives, oily skin follows which ultimately results in the blockage of pores and acne. This is one bad dream turned into reality that a lot of us have experienced firsthand. In this article, we list some tips and tricks so that you can tackle skin problems associated with the monsoon season. IndiaToday.in spoke to three dermatologists to get the best advice for you and help you get supple and healthy skin. We spoke to Dr Navin Taneja, Founder and Director of The National Skin Centre, Dr Shehla Agarwal, Director of Mehak Derma & Surgery clinic and Dr Suruchi Puri from Medi Makeovers for some valuable advice. Taking Care Of Pimples Pimples are our worst enemies. Dr Taneja shared an essential skincare routine for the monsoon season that helps fight acne."Wash your face with a pH balanced cleanser 3-4 times a day. Always apply calamine lotion during the day and multani mitti once a week as a face pack. Do not break your pimples. You must use fluid/water-based sunblocks which are specially made for acne-prone skin. Avoid thick creams and moisturisers and also avoid too much oily and spicy food in your daily diet.” Dr Puri also reiterated on the same lines and explained the basic steps of tackling oily and acne-prone skin. Moreover, she elaborated on the importance of the CTM (Cleanser Toner Moisturiser) regime. “For acne-prone oily skin, monsoon can be really troublesome. There can be a lot of sweat on your skin which can block the pores and lead to a collection of dirt. The blockage of the pores can also cause breakouts. CTM regime needs to be continued as usual. One needs to wash the face with a soap-free cleanser at least twice or thrice a day because we want the face to be clean, but we do not want the essential fatty acids to get washed off from the skin. After the cleanser, we need to use an alcohol-free toner because the alcohol might further dry off your skin. The toner, however, should be enriched with some anti-oxidants like green tea or a little bit of rose water or glycolic acid. Something like this can be helpful as a toner and after that, apply a moisturiser which should not be very oily.” Dr Agarwal spoke about prickly heat specifically and explained the correct way to deal with it. She said, “Prickly heat is also caused in this weather due to blockage of sweat pores. To treat it in the most effective way, always ice compress - directly apply ice to the skin. Resent scratching and cut nails regularly as this can lead to a secondary infection.” Tackling Dry Skin Not a lot of people talk about dry skin during the monsoon, but Dr Taneja shared some useful tips. He said, “Wash your face with pH balanced face washes and apply routine moisturisers that have shea butter and vitamin E. Also, apply glycerin over moist skin.” Monsoon Specific Regime For Skincare Speaking of a specific skincare regimen that could be followed during the monsoon season, all doctors agreed on the importance of applying an effective sunblock. Dr Taneja said, “Take bath twice a day. Wear loose linen and cotton clothing so that the skin breathes and this prevents fungal and bacterial infections. Wear your sunblock three times a day at a gap of every 3-4 hours. It should be SPF 30 PA+++.” Dr Suruchi Puri also had the same advice for everyone. “After completing your CTM regime, use SPF. Sunscreen should not be ignored in the monsoon season. You have to use at least SPF 30 with a triple plus rating and it should provide protection for both UVA and UVB. It should preferably be in the gel form and one should always apply SPF half an hour before going out in the sun. Repeat the application every three hours even if you are inside your home or office. You can also use a natural clay mask once a week.” Monsoon Specific Skin Infections Another thing that is extremely common in monsoons is the fungal infections on the skin. Worry not, because doctors had the solution for this problem as well. Dr Agarwal said, "Rainy season is a season of humidity and that makes our skin vulnerable to many infections, especially, fungal and bacterial infections. If you get caught in the downpour, rainwater mixed with environmental pollutant makes the situation worse. The best way to get healthy, clean skin in this weather is to be aware of various infections and precautions to avoid contraction." She added, "Fungal infections are commonly called Ringworm and the most susceptible areas of the body are skin folds like underarms, groin area, buttocks, feet where sweat collects and if not taken care of, it can lead to severe suffering. People who are overweight, diabetic or have prolonged working hours, especially, are prone to getting fungal infections. Itching rash and irritation are symptoms of fungal infections and the best way to avoid contracting them is by keeping cool and clean." She also shared several other tips. “Always clean skin folds with a soft towel by dabbing. Apply lots of talcum powder and avoid prolonged self-medication. Do not share towels and combs. Avoid tight synthetic clothes. Undergarments should be ironed to avoid dampness. Shoes should be dried in the sun to prevent infection from occurring again.” Dr Puri added, "Monsoon also brings about an increased risk of fungal infection. So you need to wear cotton clothes and use absorbent powder wherever you sweat.” Natural Home Remedies In the age of opting for organic and natural stuff, we also spoke to doctors about the things that we can use from our kitchen on our skin to get that dreamy glow. Dr Taneja said, “To tone up normal to dry skin - one can use papaya pulp. For oily and acne-prone skin, use a multani mitti face pack. And to detan, for all skin types, one can use a cucumber face pack.” Dr Puri added, “If your skin is very oily, you can use besan as a natural exfoliant once a week to get rid of the dead skin.” What To Eat To Get Good Skin It is not just about what you apply on your face, but also what you eat that affects your skin. On that note, we spoke about the food items that we can consume to make our skin look radiant. Dr Taneja said “It is very important to include juicy and antioxidant-rich fruits, increase vegetables and salads in your diet and take less oily, spicy and greasy food in this season. Drink water to keep your skin hydrated. Nimbu paani, egg whites, milk, buttermilk and curd must be included in your diet. Avoid too much caffeine.” Dr Shehla said, "To increase the resistance of our skin, one should stay hydrated by taking 10 - 12 glasses of water per day. Consumption of coconut water is also important, as it is rich in potassium and can do wonders for the skin.”
