Mining Hardware Tutorial Here is some shared information on how to work with the hardware side of cryptocurrency Mining. What really is hardware mining? Well it is the underlining equipment that you need to build a solid a mining system. You can do it three ways: 1. If you want to Keep your cost low by researching into ASIC and GPU hardware to do basic mining. This is fun and easy way to do. I recommend that you first research what you want to mine before buying a GPU, CPU or ASIC USB card solution. If you want to mine LCT or Bitcoin then this is a good way to do it. One way is to upgrade your old PC and let it run in the corner of your room 24/7 to learn how to mine. This format only requires add a few parts to make the system work. Here some ways you can do it. Refer to the links below: a. For ASIC USB cards beginners link b. For GPU video card for beginners link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ad5ZqwR-d-0&t=53s 2. Keep your costs in check for greater results, this is done by adding a better motherboard, rows of GPU or ASIC cards and upgrading to a larger case foot print to hold it all. a. Best motherboard for GPU handling currently is (4/6/2108) the ASUS B250 Mining board https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/B250-MINING-EXPERT/ Remember you just need a basic CPU and 8 GB of RAM for your system basic needs. Your real processing power comes from your Video GPU cards that sit in your second case rig. Here is a recommend style to build that is made from only wood. b. GPU video cards that I use are NVDIIA Geforce base 1060 with 4 or 6 GB of RAM. AMD videos cards work as well. ( c. ASIC USB Cards and ASIC arrays This is a little more tricky to work with but can pay off and at a reduce cost. I like the USB ASIC cards for they are a lot of fun to work with and can be added to your GPU chassis rig or use a Raspberry Pie platform. Here is a link on those details with starting off using the Pie solution. 3. Lastly you can go hardcore. This is taking things to a higher level. (Only for eh experience users.) At this point you know what you want but need to know the best platforms to move to. This can be done in three area a. CPU level, this is done by just growing out you CPU based mining alongside with your GPU or ASIC deployments. (this is my format.) To do this well you would need to move to the Intel Xeon 6400 series CPU with a large number of cores. The new CPU class can do GPU calculations like today’s GPU cards can. This creates a multiplier effect with the GPU or USB ASIC processing platforms you are supporting. Costs related to this is higher but offer a nice boost and a lot more flexibility for mining cryptocurrency. It will require that you rebuild/adjust your core system but everything else should still be good for GPU and / or USB ASIC platforms. These are known as large scale PC platforms but you may only have one to three of them in service. The nice thing is they work well with in a home and fun to work with. This is my favorite version that I recommend it to most for it works well with your resources and costs arenot really that high. b. ASIC Array/s level arrays. This is not ASIC USB platform but instead is a self-standing ASIC platform that run costs wise in the thousands of dollars to buy and very power hungry. These platforms do a lot of processing but at a power cost. You set them up and walk away for the most part. Monitor them and reboot as needed but that is it. Here is how to start c. GPU racks level buildings. This format is very po[CENSORED]r with hard core miners. They follow the basic Motherboard PC core system with 50 to 100 GPUs spread out over many rigs. This is just scaled up to a higher level ( Remember that hardware works below the software level so you can design just about anything but make sure you pay attention to what your hardware can do. This gives you more options down the road. Now to understand the software. The mining engine that you pick must support the cryptocurrency you want to mine. Using a PC front end hardware platform is the best way to learn until you are ready to mine with arrays like ASIC and GPU alike. Have some fun with it as you learn. Start with the PC side first then grow into a format that best meets you needs. The OS is can be MS Windows 7, 8 or 10 or MS Servers OS. But you can also use Raspberry Pie OS or Linus / Unix if you want. What software tool do you use for mining cryptocurrency? Well that is your choose. I recommend first to use GUI base miner. (Like Easyminer…) I like Easyminer for it is just a front end GUI interface that uses two CLI miner tools to use CPU, GPUJ and ASIC miner. (Plus you can customize the platform to your needs.) But find what works for your cryptocurrency needs and comfort level. There are other tools like Minergate and so on but I am using Easy miner for my needs. Do your research on the type of mining you want to do and a good rep tool to do you work for you. Once you get good with te tools move to CLI (DOS Command Line Interface) base cryptocurrency mining tools if you want. For me I use GUI for the easy use of it. CLI is over rated in my 28 years of working IT. What about mining software being seen as a virus and being blocked? Well that is not correct. Virus tools may see many miner software tool as malware do to miss use of it with people place these mining tool on systems without the user permission using some form of malware to do it. So if your tool gets flag, just place an exception for the tool in your virus protection and you are good

Interactive tutorials are a great way to help users to learn new skills and master new software by allowing them to follow along with a step-by-step process on the screen. However, picking the right tutorial software can be a tricky business - there are so many out there, so which type will work for you? Different types of tutorial software It's important to be aware of the limitations of your operating system – not all software works on all systems. Broadly speaking, you'll be looking at three different categories – two are native (i.e. must be installed), one runs from the cloud: •PC Software: Screen recording or capture tools that are designed to work natively in Microsoft Windows •Mac Software: Screen recorders that are natively designed for the Mac operating system (Mac OS X) •Cloud-based Tutorial Software: Solutions that are cloud-based and run out of the browser, making them (essentially) operating-system independent. On that final category, a word of advice. Cloud-based tutorial maker software runs inside a browser, which means it can't capture tutorials outside of the browser. So, for example, if you want to record a tutorial of a piece of software such as Oracle, which must be installed and runs natively on the computer, cloud-based software won't work. You'll have to use a native screen recorder. That said, if you want to record a tutorial of a cloud-based tool such as Salesforce, Workday or Dropbox, a cloud-based tutorial creator will work just fine for you, as all of the activity happens inside the browser. To find out more about our award-winning tutorial creation tool (and to build your tutorial in under 60 seconds), click here. Otherwise, read on to find out about each of those steps… Chapter 2 How Interactive Should It Be? Interactivity is something of a spectrum – ranging from users thumbing through a PDF file of screenshots (not very interactive!) to watching video tutorials (somewhat interactive) to actually being immersed in the app itself and being taken through the process live. Clearly, the learning outcomes increase the further towards the interactive end you proceed – would you rather learn by looking at pictures, or by clicking the mouse and by doing it yourself inside the app? However, there are tradeoffs in fully interactive guides. It's harder to control a curriculum, for example, and some effects won't be available (see the next section). You'll need to decide which format best suits the process that you are trying to illustrate, based on the capability and attention span of your audience, as well as the context that you'll be delivering in.

Khaled Bishara, CEO of the Egyptian Orascom Development Company, was killed last Friday in a terrible road accident on the ring road in the shooting range in Giza Governorate, as he was driving a Mercedes G63 The first investigations revealed that a transport vehicle with iron trusses collided with a car Bishara, which led to its overthrow and then collided with the iron fence of the circular road, so that its leader died instantly, and the car is completely destroyed.Reports said that the car that was driven by the late one of the most powerful cars in the world, and was specially designed for off-road, in addition to having excellent specifications in terms of driving, control, security and safety systems. However, it did cause controversy after the accident, especially after the photos showed that the airbags in the steering wheel did not open, while the side airbags were opened. According to auto experts, the front airbags consist of 3 parts: the balloon is made of a simple nylon fabric and is present in the steering wheel, doors and headrest, and a sensor that gives the filling signal while it is working mechanically, and a chemical system that creates an instant reaction to move nitrogen to fill the balloon in moments Numbered. Experts pointed out that in order for the balloon to operate, the driver must be about 25 cm away from the wheel, indicating that the sensor system was designed to work in accidents with a certain degree of danger, and therefore the pads are not opened in any accident that the system deems simple. In addition to this, the direction of the shock must be inclined on the face of the car, and therefore the system does not expect it, and they emphasized that most modern cars have a system of air bags in them linked to the seat belt.

Yes, the father can sometimes feel jealous of his son for many reasons. When a child enters the life of the couple, their lives change dramatically, but this may reflect negatively on the relationship of men and women. The boy can cause an urgent change in the life of the couple, but sometimes the relationship between the mother and her young child may become jealous on the part of the father. This is what happens in many cases, specifically when the first child is born. Sometimes a man may be jealous even if the child is at the age of years. What kind of jealousy? The father feels jealousy from his son, but it is not a common jealousy. Rather, it is jealousy because the woman focuses on caring for the child and neglecting the man. The husband looks at his son as if he stole his wife from him, in the positive sense, of course. Of course, a woman may feel that she loves her first child more than others. What reinforces this feeling of a man's head?Neglecting the husband: the mother may sometimes make some mistakes that may cause jealousy for the father. She may neglect him, not allocate time for him during the day, and put the child in her first step, and therefore caring for the father becomes a secondary matter. The mother does not share her son's interests with his father: Some mothers may take care to take care of everything related to the child, without the father sharing that step. This creates a rift between the father and his son. So sharing between the three is the only solution.Women neglecting intimate relationships: Because of their preoccupation with the child in the first months, the intimate relationship between the two may live with several pitfalls. The woman also neglects her outward appearance, thus creating a distance between her and the man. Therefore, the woman should try to divide her time between the child and the husband.

The numbers of people infected with the new Corona virus in the Arab countries continue to rise, in parallel with the increasing number of people infected around the world, which prompted a number of countries in the region to take strict measures to confront the spread of the virus. On Friday, the Kingdom of Bahrain announced the registration of 3 new infections with the Coruna virus, bringing the number of infected people to 36. Bahrain said that the new cases were attributed to Bahraini women who arrived through indirect flights from Iran. In Kuwait, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of two cases infected with Corona virus, bringing the total number of cases to 45 confirmed cases. The assistant undersecretary for public health affairs, the assistant undersecretary for medical services in charge of assignment, Dr. Buthaina Al-Mudhaf, said that the two cases that were registered were from contacts of people from Iran. She added that the ministry, on Thursday, dealt with 118 passengers who were evacuated from Italy and that smears were taken from them, and no cases were identified among them, in addition to dealing with 22 passengers who came from Iran, they were transferred to quarantine. Al-Mudhaf stressed that the Ministry is committed to applying the international health regulations to all confirmed cases of people infected with Coronavirus, explaining that the authorities will impose a declaration on all flights of passengers to submit to quarantine for a period of not less than two weeks, according to the appreciation of the Kuwaiti authorities She added that violators would expose themselves to penalties and legal accountability. The Kuwaiti army will suspend studies in colleges and military schools for a period of two weeks, as of March 1st. The study was also suspended at Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences, and all training programs and activities at the Institute of Banking Studies were suspended. KOC said that it suspended all official missions and internal and external training programs for its employees until further notice. Lebanon In Lebanon, the authorities stated that they had detected 3 cases of Corona virus during the past week, all of which had arrived from Iran. The Lebanese Ministry of Public Works and Transport said that the transportation of arrivals from countries in which the outbreak of the new Coruna virus, including China, Iran, Italy and South Korea, has been stopped. The decision includes transportation by air and sea, and excludes Lebanese citizens and foreigners residing in Lebanon. As for Egypt, it denied the reports that a large number of cases of the new Corona virus had been discovered, stressing that it is completely naked. On Thursday, the Ministry of Health and Po[CENSORED]tion in Egypt and the World Health Organization announced that the only case of a new "Corona" virus inside the country had recovered for a "foreign" person, and he was discharged from the isolation hospital after confirming the negative laboratory results for him and spending the incubation period of the virus And the official page of the Egyptian Cabinet Presidency was published on Facebook, Friday: "We affirm the complete transparency in dealing with any suspected cases of HIV infection, and that if there are suspected cases of HIV infection, it will be announced, and inform the World Health Organization immediately."The Presidency of the Egyptian Cabinet refuted the news of stopping quarantine procedures in Egyptian ports and airports. And it published on its page: "We confirm the continued tightening of all precautionary measures and preventive measures to prevent the entry of the Corona virus into the country through those coming from abroad."She added, "A comprehensive medical examination is conducted for all passengers coming to Egypt, and immediate treatment of any suspected case."

At this point, a holiday release from Rockstar on the App Store is beginning to become tradition, and I really couldn’t be happier. This year’s addition to Rockstar’s mobile catalog is Bully: Anniversary Edition ($6.99), celebrating the ten year anniversary of the original 2006 launch. Lots of folks in our community suspected that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories would be the next Rockstar game to hit the App Store, but it turns out that the one and only bigfart12 guessed correctly all the way back in March. Bully always seemed like the “forgotten" Rockstar game, at least amongst my circle of friends. It was released sandwiched in between Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories ($6.99) and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories. I think it was close enough to the GTA formula that anyone interested in Bully likely just gravitated to either title instead. I suppose it also didn’t help that literally everyone I know who was even remotely interested in video games was hard and heavy into World of Warcraft at the time either. Anyway, it wasn’t until the remastered “Scholarship Edition" was released a few years later that I gave the game a try, and had one of those “Wait, what the. Why didn’t I play this when it first came out?" epiphanies that often come with re-releases of games you heard were good but never actually got around to playing. The mobile release is technically a second remaster of the game, as Bully: Anniversary Edition comes with all the tweaks of Scholarship Edition, plus additional graphical effects, higher resolution textures, better lighting, and a new multiplayer mode, effectively making the mobile game the best version yet- At least until it’s remastered a third time. Taking a step back, let’s assume you’ve never heard of Bully before (which, again, is totally reasonable since it isn’t really a Rockstar flagship title). Bully is an open world third person adventure game where you play as a kid named Jimmy, set at the private boarding school, Bullworth Academy. The game’s original marketing lead quite a few people to believe that gameplay orbited around, well, being a total bully and generally causing loads of violence in the school. Jack Thompson (Remember him?!) even took a crack at getting the game banned, comparing what you do inside the game to the Columbine High School massacre. In actuality, while you’ll eventually engage in loads of light spirited mischief, the overall goal of the game is to effectively bring peace to Bullworth, uniting all the various cliques, and completing tasks along the way to raise your reputation and effectively get everyone to like you. Anyway, as mentioned, Bully opens with your not-so-loving mother and her new husband dumping you off at Bullworth Academy before they go on their honeymoon. From there, the game quickly shows you the ropes and introduces the main cast of characters which includes the stereotypical headmaster, Dr. Crabblesnitch, and your two cohorts Gary and Petey. The tutorial is guided by Gary, and it quickly becomes apparent that Bully is effectively Grand Theft Auto, but without cars. (Although you do eventually get skateboards, scooters, and similar kid-friendly transportation.) Movement feels very similar, combat is also incredibly familiar, as is the cadence of the game which involves going somewhere, accepting a mission, watching a brief cut scene, then needing to go somewhere else, fight someone, collect something, or do other similar stuff. This may sound like a negative thing, but I actually really like how familiar it all feels. If you’ve mastered the various little nuances of GTA games, you’ll be right at home inside of the world of Bully. Of course, being at school, you also have to go to school. The daily cycles you go through really makes it feel like you’re at school, as even though you might have a breadcrumb trail of missions to do to advance the story, you still need to attend various classes at specific times of the in-game day. This potentially means dropping what you’re doing, and hauling ass across campus to make it to class in time, before resuming whatever hijinks you were up to. “Attending class" involves several different mini-games. For example, Chemistry has you pushing buttons in order rhythmically to conduct experiments while English has you making as many words as you can out of scrambled letters. You also need to be in bed every day too, and both morning and afternoon periods as well as your eventual bedtime does a great job at not only adding a familiar sense of urgency in getting things done in your free time at school, but also gives a fantastic sense of the passage of time. Also, just like being at school, all the stereotypical cliques are represented. You’ve got nerds, preps, jocks, greasers (which I’m not sure are a thing anymore?) and of course, the bullies. Depending on what you do on particular missions, completion results in your notoriety with these various factions going up or down. It weirdly feels just like being at school again, as, for instance, the nerds love it when you do something to mess with the jocks and vice versa. The cops and wanted levels from GTA games are replaced with prefects and a “trouble meter." Generally speaking, you can get away with little stuff, but if you cause too much trouble (or cause trouble in front of a prefect) your trouble meter will rapidly rise and you’ll need to run or get busted. Just like in GTA, it’s also a lot of fun to just cause lots of trouble and to see how long you can survive and how many prefects you can fight before getting busted.

Ubi Soft's past efforts in the racing genre have sat on opposite sides of the spectrum. The sophisticated F1 Racing Simulation is a far cry from POD, an arcade racer with a science fiction theme. Now comes Speed Busters: American Highways, a game that falls closer to POD in terms of its simplistic nature but still tries to incorporate some realistic handling and physics issues. The result is a game that has all of the right moves but some design elements that make it an often-frustrating ride. The premise behind Speed Busters takes inspiration from the golden age of Burt Reynolds films. Think Smokey and the Bandit; think Cannonball Run. A police officer has won the lottery and lost his marbles. He's hosting a series of races in various locales, and the winner gets lots of his money. You also earn money and ranking based on how fast you drive past the radar detectors located on each track. Speed Busters features seven tracks (one of them hidden) and any number of cars and upgrades. It follows a basic arcade racer formula. In championship mode, you begin with three available tracks and unlock the rest as you proceed. You cannot race on tracks in arcade mode without unlocking them in the championship (though you can access them in multiplayer). In championship mode, the game takes you through each track, and you use the money you win to buy upgrades, repairs, nitro refills, and even new cars if you so desire. Upgrades include spoilers, faster engines, bigger nitro tanks, and better tires. Other items for sale include road assistance (little arrows will appear onscreen during races to indicate upcoming turns) and car insurance (which makes all repairs free for the next race). You can take these upgraded cars into arcade mode, in which you must hit a series of checkpoints as you race around. The game itself plays much like most arcade racers. You simply move forward as fast as you can. You have brakes, a handbrake, and nitro to make you go faster and slower where appropriate. The strategy of playing really relies on you mastering the handbrake, and learning where and when to apply a nitro boost is also important. The illusion of speed is pretty impressive, and when you hit the nitro, your car zooms ahead a bit, giving the impression of a massive speed burst.

At the start, you find yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time when you're assaulted by Scrotus and a pack of his sinewy war boys. They steal your beloved car, the Interceptor, leaving you empty-handed. However, fortune smiles upon you when a Gollum-like mechanic by the name of Chumbucket crosses your path. He's convinced that you're a hero of legend, the "Angel," and he's a whiz with both a wrench and a harpoon, making him the perfect companion in the hard-driving and violent wasteland. You and Chum fend off desperate tribes and push back against Scrotus' forces as you take contracts and hunt down fresh parts for your new chariot, the Magnum Opus. Your ultimate goal is to build a vehicle that's strong enough to cross the void known as the Plains of Silence, where you'll either find freedom, or death on the other side. Together, Chum and Max are fast and lethal in the Magnum Opus, with Chum manning a small cache of weapons in the rear while you steer the car. Picking apart enemy vehicles and guard posts is a cinch with your harpoon, which is the most important weapon in your arsenal. While driving, press one button to slow down time and highlight nearby objects and people, and press another to launch a harpoon or explosive lance. Alternatively, you can tap the circle button to auto-fire at the closest target, but it's an unattractive option when it's vital that you target specific objects; there's no point in ripping off a car's tire when you can just as easily yank out the driver. It's normal to be confronted by three or four cars at once, and though some carry enemies that will try to hop onto your car, you can purchase spikes to deter hop-ons, resort to your trusty shotgun, or pull over and fight it out with your fists. Even when surrounded by enemies, you're an effective and brutal fighter. Watching Max man-handle thugs can be entertaining, but the part you play--controlling Max--isn't very interesting or rewarding. Mad Max's combat borrows from Warner Bros.' recent Batman and Shadow of Mordor games, where mashing one button dishes out contextual attacks, and another, when pressed while an icon appears over the head of an attacking enemy, initiates a parry maneuver. You can attack using your shotgun, but you rarely want to because bullets are hard to come by. You also have the ability to roll and evade incoming attacks, but only a few enemies ever justify the effort. The combat system is so simple at its core that nearly every fight can be won by alternately tapping attack and parry, save for a few boss battles where unblockable attacks are introduced. Watching Max make quick work of enemies is occasionally impressive, but when the majority of fights in the game can be easily exploited, there's no challenge to overcome, and no sense of accomplishment. When put side-by-side with car combat, which is complex, full of possibilities, and requires precision and skill to succeed, Mad Max's ground combat feels shallow. Mad Max also doesn't do a good job of imposing desperation upon you, a feeling that is necessary if the wasteland's threats are to be taken seriously. It's true that water, fuel, and food are hard to come by, so when you find a can of dog food, you eat it. When you come across a family of maggots feasting on a corpse, you take advantage of your rank in the food chain. Water can come from many sources, but never in large supply. Eating and drinking are the only ways to revitalize yourself in the game, but you quickly learn that carrying an empty canteen isn't that scary. For one, beyond the occasional barrage of explosives that come from fortified camps, you rarely face dire situations, and though it may seem like you would need to rehydrate from time to time because you're going full-throttle in the middle of a hot desert, I never noticed any gradual, deleterious health impacts from exposure. Emergent vehicular battles in Mad Max's open world can jeopardize your car, but Chum quickly fixes it whenever you aren't moving, and a generous fast-travel mechanic lets you magically skip the experience of driving through enemy territory. It may be convenient, but adding fast travel to Mad Max is like adding a "skip" button to a fighting game that automatically takes you to the next round. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGgh33eSt-0

The good news is that Silent Hunter II is the second best sub sim to come out this year. The bad news is that it's only the second sub sim to come out this year, Electronic Arts' Sub Command being the first. On the surface, it looks good and seems to get all the details right. But once you go a little deeper, you'll find the functional equivalent of screen doors on this sub sim. It's not quite all wet, but it's hardly in shipshape, either. Silent Hunter II is set in the German U-boats of World War II, ranging from the coast of Norway all the way down to South America. This is rich subject matter for a simulation. German U-boats prowling the Atlantic were perhaps Germany's best chance to win World War II. Hitler almost succeeded in cutting Europe off from the United States' industrial and military might. Since both the Axis and Allies knew the stakes, the battle was fierce, prolonged, and expensive. Men, steel, and technology were poured into the Atlantic. In the end, Germany traded the lives of nearly 30,000 of her sailors to sink approximately 3,000 enemy merchant ships. This was a struggle of mythic proportion, captured beautifully in movies like Wolfgang Petersen's Das Boot, books like Herbert Werner's Iron Coffins, and games like Dynamix's Aces of the Deep, one of the finest sims ever. This is also rich subject matter for a simulation because of the nature of the action. The pace is slow, deliberate, and tense. Submarine warfare is more about stealth than combat. You spend most of your time stalking your prey and waiting for the perfect chance to strike. You get one opportunity to land a blow, and from then on, you're the prey. From hunter to hunted in the launch of a torpedo. On both counts, as a nod to that period of history and that style of warfare, Silent Hunter II does a decent job. The single-player campaign tries to capture the epic nature of the U-boat struggle by following the flow and ebb of Germany's fortune through the course of the war. Rather than playing like a traditional career mode, Silent Hunter II is more of a globe-trotting showcase for the U-boat's greatest hits. You start out heading off the fleeing Polish navy, then you dabble in the Atlantic, then you join the invasion of Norway, then it's a brief jaunt into the Mediterranean (with the obligatory "slip through Gibraltar" mission), then to the East Coast of the United States and down to the Bahamas, and so on, all the way to Buenos Aires at the end of the war. The campaign begins in the submarine's halcyon days with coordinated wolf pack attacks and frequent reports from Luftwaffe reconnaissance planes. As the war progresses, you get a good sense for the developing technology, Germany's increasing desperation, and the Allied dominance of the seas with their ubiquitous destroyer escorts and air cover. Silent Hunter II takes you through the rise and fall of the Third Reich, as seen through a periscope. While this is an interesting concept, the developers at Ultimation sacrifice any long-term replayability by building Silent Hunter II almost entirely around this historical story arc. Each mission is tightly scripted and offers almost zero chance for freedom or exploration, which means there's very little replay value. Not that you won't be replaying missions, because Silent Hunter II's campaign is a strictly linear affair. Each mission must be completed before you can move on to the next. If you fail the mission's primary objective, you get to replay it--only this time you'll know exactly what to expect, as well as when and where to expect it. Unlike in Sub Command's missions, there's very little randomness in Silent Hunter II. The tension of uncertainty is replaced by the tedium of repetition. This will also impact the way you play the game. For instance, take the realism setting for dud torpedoes. Torpedoes that failed to go off when they struck their targets were a very real problem in World War II, particularly early in the war. Sometimes subs would return from a patrol with a 100-percent dud rate. But the commander didn't have to go back out and fire over and over at the same ship until he got a live torpedo, because failure was a part of submarine warfare. It is not, however, a part of this sim, which demands you go back and do it over. And over. And over. Who wants to contend with dud torpedoes when you're dealing with a primary goal that must be achieved to unlock the next mission? War might be hell, but Silent Hunter II is the frustration of often having to replay the same mission. There are eight stand-alone missions, and you can set up single encounters by specifying the exact parameters of how many ships, whether they're escorted, where they start, and so on. There won't be any surprises in these encounters, which are little more than training tools. And because the stand-alone missions and single encounters play out in a vacuum (your score isn't even tracked), they don't have the incentive and higher stakes of the full campaign. There is no scenario generator, so don't expect downloadable third-party scenarios on the Internet. During the development process, Ultimation repeatedly assured concerned fans that Silent Hunter II wouldn't suffer for its lack of a dynamic campaign. On the contrary, what they've created is a pale shadow of the game it could have been. It's worth mentioning that Ultimation does promise multiplayer interconnectivity when it releases Destroyer Command, which might give Silent Hunter II a bit more longevity. There's no denying that Ultimation did capture the basic dynamics of submarine warfare. It's gratifying to strike at a convoy, creep away before the torpedoes strike, and then listen while the destroyers drop depth charges far away, obviously looking for you in all the wrong places. The missions are generally long enough to duplicate the feel of being away at sea. Although you're usually dropped near your objective area when a mission starts (with your fuel tanks mysteriously topped off), you have to work your way home after a mission. Later in the war, this involves creeping by day and dashing ahead at full speed by night to escape bomber attacks. If you're looking for realism in your sims (what history buff isn't?), then you're going to be disappointed by some of Ultimation's choices. All ships are automatically identified well before you come into firing range, so there's no danger of inadvertently sinking friendly or neutral ships. When a ship is tagged by the game as having been destroyed, you can't designate it as a target. Even though it might still be afloat and slowly going through its sinking animation, you know it's already dead. In World War II, this wasn't always so easy to determine, and many ships limped away and lived to tell about torpedo attacks. This often meant multiple coups de grace were administered by sub commanders, but Silent Hunter II makes no provision for this. Although there's a good damage system to track attacks and breakdowns on your sub, many missions end suddenly without putting the player through those final frantic moments of trying to bring a dying sub to the surface. Instead of that sinking feeling of dread as the dial on the meter sweeps past your crush depth, Silent Hunter II snaps you to an outside view and then pops up the debriefing screen. Perhaps worst of all is the atrocious ship artificial intelligence, in which destroyers won't help each other out while chasing you down. Perhaps this is because when they do work together, they're liable to ram into each other and get stuck. We've even seen ships so dumb they've rammed entire continents, washing themselves up on shore and keeling over like beached whales. The graphics are limited to 800x600 resolution, but they're not as fancy as you might expect with all the processing power freed up by the lower resolution. This is definitely a sim that's been in development so long it's given up all hope of showing off on higher-end systems. Waves roll and ships pitch convincingly, but there's a noticeable lack of embellishment like land features, deck activity, white caps, weather effects, and dynamic lighting. Smoke effects, splashes, and explosions look as if they were tacked on. The sound, which is a crucial element of a sub game, is generally very good, featuring groaning hulls, bass explosions, water flooding through hull breaches, and the ominous churn of screws. Since the pickings are indeed slim for naval simulations, Silent Hunter II will be a welcome addition for a lot of fans. But without a more involving campaign mode, with these glaring gaps in realism, and with this lackluster graphics engine, a lot of these fans are bound to be disappointed. Perhaps with the release of Destroyer Command later this year, more of Silent Hunter II's potential will be realized. But as it is now, this is a sim nearly scuttled by a few bad choices.

Overview and game play Bad Dudes vs. Dragonninja is a horizontally scrolling fighting game for one or two players, (simultaneous). The game enjoyed moderate success in the arcades and was converted to several home formats such as the Atari ST. The objective of the game is hinted at on the title screen which depicts the two heroes trying to look tough in their black vests and leather gloves: “Rampant ninja related crimes these days…Whitehouse is not the exception…”. Upon depositing a coin, (or coins for a two player game) a suspicious looking character sporting a flattop hairstyle (fashionable in the late 80’s) says in text: “President Ronnie has been kidnapped by the Ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue Ronnie?”. Presumably this character is referring to former US President Ronald Regan and being a “Bad Dude” may indicate the game designers were Michael Jackson fans paying tribute to his hit song called “Bad” which was po[CENSORED]r in the 1980’s. Further evidence of this appears at the end of each level when the player raises his arm in victory exclaiming, “I’m bad!” If anything is “Bad” in Bad Dudes vs. Dragonninja, it’s the plot. Why on earth are the 2 players rescuing the President of The United States?. Surely things are not so grim that President Ronnie must rely on 2 men alone? The plot is not meant to be taken seriously (hopefully!) and is actually quite funny at the end of the game when the players receive a measly hamburger for all their efforts from President Ronnie, who perhaps lost 2 votes from the players for such a frugal gesture!. The stages in Bad Dudes vs. Dragonninja are thoughtfully designed and each contains an upper and lower level for the player to walk along. This 2-walkway system is particularly effective as a means of enhancing the game play and if too many ninjas appear on one level, a player can jump to the other level. Staying on one level is not usually wise and pitfalls await players regardless of which level they are on. This design is effective because it encourages players to swap levels during the progress of each stage as well as adding a tactical element to the fighting. Pressing button 1 allows the player to execute kicks and punches and button 2 makes the player jump. By using the up and down controls in combination with the buttons, the player can jump up or down between the 2 levels or pick up collectable items. There are several collectable items to choose from: extra weapons such as nunchaku and knives, coke cans which restore energy and time icons which add more time for the player to complete the stage. Although it was the Ninjas who kidnapped President Ronnie, there are some other adversaries to confront such as fire breathing men and dogs that even bark at the player!. There are also different types of ninjas who appear: blue ninjas, (who attack with punches and kicks), red ninjas, (who sometimes leave behind a collectable item once dead) and gray ninjas (who sometimes throw metal stars or leave sharp objects on the floor that injure the player if he touches them). There are also blue and red ninjas armed with swords that wear slightly different costumes to their cohorts as well as female ninjas who attack in the same way as their male counterparts. Graphics Bad Dudes vs. Dragonninja has sprite-based graphics that are about average to good for the late 1980’s. Good design of the game has resulted in the graphics adding a significant amount to the game play. The ninjas appear on screen in an appropriate way with smoke revealing them or by fading into view in a mysterious ninja-like manner. Locations where the player battles the ninjas are varied and not too repetitive, which is sometimes a problem with other horizontally scrolling fighting games. One stage is set on top of a large lorry that is being driven along a street. Ninjas climb up the side of the lorry to attack the players or approach the scene sitting on top of passing cars and then jump on to the lorry. This design adds to the game-play as the player must avoid falling off the lorry as well as fighting the ninjas. In another stage, the players must traverse a sewer. In typical ninja style, stealthy ninjas swim in the sewage using only a bamboo pipe to breathe and when they are positioned near a player, they jump out and attack. These graphical details make a lot of difference to the game and make the game play more enjoyable than without them. Adverts for other Data East games and promotion of the Data East name also occurs at various points in the stages, which was a trend developing in the late 80’s among game designers and graphics artists. Sound The sound effects are, as one would expect for a fighting game: slaps, shouts and groans which are all present in Bad Dudes vs. Dragonninja and all are digitized. Dogs realistically whimper when hit and the “I’m bad” catchphrase the player says at the end of each stage is too good to miss. The synthesized music is very much in the background but does change to signify the presence of a boss character. Music is more effective at the end of the game where a grateful President Ronnie invites the players out for a hamburger and some “Hail to the Chief” music is played to add to the corny but amusing scene.
