Midnight Clubs before it, Midnight Club 3 offers up a huge, open-ended city for you to race in. Well, there are actually three cities. You'll begin in San Diego, but you'll eventually be able to open up the cities of Atlanta and Detroit as well. Unfortunately, it takes an exceedingly long time to load up each of these cities--upward of 70 seconds in most cases. The in-game loading times are also annoying. During gameplay you often have to switch between racing, cruising, and visiting the local garage, and jumping from spot to spot always results in some lengthy loading. The console versions weren't exactly quick when it came to in-game loading, but they were an absolute breeze compared to the PSP iteration. Each city is chock-full of back alleys, hidden shortcuts, and special jumps that you'll be hard pressed to discover until you've spent ample time driving around. Thankfully, the game provides a cruise mode where you can just drive and explore, which isn't nearly as boring as it sounds, because there are also some hidden Rockstar logos strewn about that will earn you goodies when you collect them all. It's also useful to get familiar with all the nooks and crannies of the city, as knowing your way around is immensely beneficial come race time, since most of the races in Midnight Club 3 are checkpoint races. These checkpoints are scattered all over the place, and oftentimes there are multiple paths that will take you to each one. Half the challenge of the game is trying to find the best path to each checkpoint. The one problem with this methodology is that it can be quite frustrating the first few times you engage in a particularly challenging race because you won't know where all the required turns and potential obstacles are. This leads to a fair amount of trial and error that isn't altogether detrimental (especially since using the free-roaming mode gives you a good idea of how the city is laid out), but it definitely has its annoying moments. Fortunately, there are also point-to-point races and timed races to provide some variety to the action, and they're far less taxing to boot. Midnight Club 3 is an arcade racer through and through. If you're looking for even a modicum of realism from this game, you might as well forget it. The physics are geared toward big jumps, taking tight corners at ridiculous speeds, big, exaggerated crashes, and frenetic action. The controls are generally tight and easy to pick up, though it will probably take you at least a little time to get accustomed to the different car classes. With more than 60 licensed cars available, there's a lot to choose from, including tuners, muscle cars, trucks and SUVs, motorcycles, and luxury automobiles. H2 Hummers, Cadillac Escalades, Mitsubishi Lancers, '64 Chevy Impalas, and Kawasaki Ninjas are just some of the many vehicles you can race with. Though nearly all the cars are fast and loose, every car type has its own strengths and weaknesses, which come in to play with the game's unique special moves system. Yes, that's right. The cars in Midnight Club 3 actually have special moves. While that might sound a little wacky, it's not so bizarre. There are three types of special abilities assigned to the car classes. Big, intimidating cars can use an ability that knocks all the traffic around you out of your way; others can use an "agro" ability to inflict extra damage to cars you hit; and the speedier vehicles can use an effect that slows down time, letting you simply maneuver around any traffic that gets in your way. These abilities are handy, though perhaps not as well implemented as they could have been. The slow-down ability, for instance, slows down time almost too much, and it doesn't last long enough to be useful. Similarly, the intimidation ability the big vehicles use sometimes doesn't do anything except push the car in front of you farther ahead. Still, when the abilities do work, they're satisfying. And when you couple them with the preexisting nitrous and slipstream speed boosts, things can get pretty crazy. Perhaps the best thing about Midnight Club 3's racing is that the difficulty never feels artificial. If you wreck once, or even twice, you still have a perfectly solid chance to catch up and win the race, as your opponents are prone to wrecking and spinning out as well. Similarly, if you catch the lead and can avoid wrecking or doing anything stupid, your opponents won't just magically overtake you. The bulk of the offline racing you'll be doing in Midnight Club 3 will likely be in the robust career mode. You begin with about 20 grand in your pocket and an introduction to a local garage owner, who sets you up with a ride of your choice and an "in" to the underground street racing scene. Make no mistake, if you're looking for some kind of dramatic tale of intrigue or anything involving a lot of interaction with your typically stereotyped street racing characters, you won't find either here. The career mode focuses squarely on the racing, which is a welcome change from the hackneyed attempts at driving game stories that other similar games have tried. There are multiple types of races to engage in during the career mode, all of which are structured around the basic checkpoint, point-to-point, and time trial races available throughout. Basically, you start by getting together with various hookmen who will challenge you to a short series of races. Impressing them will get you shots at longer series of races with assorted car clubs, each of which revolves around specific car types. So if there's a club that races with nothing but trucks, you'll need to have a truck or an SUV in your collection to participate in the races. While this might seem like a chore, it isn't, thanks to a number of tournaments that seem to ever so conveniently pop up right around the time a new car club challenges you. In these tournaments, you can win new cars. And they're almost always the precise kinds of car you need to move forward. Apart from all these main races, there are a number of side races available in each city that don't help your career but do provide you with extra cash. That's good, because you'll need it to fully trick out your whip. The car-customization element of Midnight Club 3 is possibly its best feature, despite not being terribly complex. For under-the-hood improvements, you begin with a stock part for everything ranging from suspension systems, to brakes, to exhaust systems, to nitrous boosters, and more. As you play, new upgrade parts will be shipped to your local garage, and you can buy them for boosts to your car's acceleration, top speed, and handling ratings. Of course, this wouldn't be a proper street racing game if it didn't provide you with plenty of gaudy ways to customize your car on the outside as well. Body kits, decals, custom paint jobs, $20,000 rims... You name it, you can throw it onto your car. Unfortunately, these types of customizations don't have any effect on your car's performance, so you'll be spending your cash on something that's designed for pure aesthetic value. Fortunately, it's pretty tough to go broke in the game, so you'll rarely be strapped for cash, even if you want all your cars to be sitting on 20s.

In a sense, Rock Band is a little like three distinct games built into one. First, there's the guitar game, which lets you play approximately the same sort of game as Guitar Hero on guitar and bass, but with a few key differences. For one, the guitar itself is built quite differently from the Guitar Hero guitars. It's bigger, with a longer neck, and its body feels more solid. The fret buttons are larger, and are flush against the neck of the guitar, and there is a second set of narrower fret buttons all the way down the neck that you can tap on for solos. The guitar even comes with a built-in effects switcher, which puts effects like echo, flange, and wah-wah over the in-game guitar track. The only difference between guitars in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game is the fact that people who buy the 360 version get a wired guitar, whereas PS3 owners get a wireless one. On the flip side, PS3 owners don't get a USB hub to connect all the instruments to, whereas 360 owners do. That shouldn't be an issue if you have an older PS3, but if you have a newer one with the two USB ports, you'll need to buy one of those hubs separately. It's also worth noting that you only get one guitar with the bundle on either platform, but if you own a Guitar Hero guitar for the 360, you can use it with the 360 version of Rock Band. The actual guitar gameplay isn't much different from Guitar Hero, with you strumming along and periodically tilting the guitar to engage "overdrive" (the game's equivalent of star power), but a couple of neat twists do add some flavor. For one thing, solos are given their own scoring section in each song, and the game tracks the percentage of notes hit during a solo. The higher the percentage, the higher the score bonus you get at the end of the solo. The guitar game is of good quality, though a couple of things about it might drive a few longtime Guitar Hero fans batty. For one, the difficulty of the game is a good deal less challenging than what the hardcore Guitar Hero fan base is probably accustomed to at this point. The goal with Rock Band seems to be more about bringing in newcomers, so as a result, the difficulty level sits somewhere between Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II overall. Not a bad thing if Guitar Hero III gave you conniption fits, but potentially less exciting for some of the hardcore guitar gamers out there. Also of note is that the note charts for guitar are handled a bit differently, with notes that can be pulled off via hammer-ons and pull-offs appearing as half-sized notes on the chart. It's not quite as easy to see these notes as in, say, Guitar Hero III, so you might end up screwing up a few solos until you get used to this new methodology. Lastly is the guitar itself. It's a good guitar, but it does some things differently than the standard GH model guitars. The strummer doesn't click when you strum up or down, and the fret buttons seem a bit less forgiving in terms of timing in solos and other, tougher sections. It's not that it's bad or wrong--it's just different, and it takes some getting used to. Also, you're not going to get a ton of mileage out of things like the second set of buttons and the effects switch. Most people will probably forget the switch is even there until they accidentally turn on wah-wah, and sliding down to the second button set is a bit vexing to do just as you're about to head straight into a solo, since it takes a while to get accustomed both to the smaller buttons and to finding exactly where they are on the neck without staring at the guitar for a few seconds. Fake-guitar virtuosos will probably dig it, but most people will likely stick to the standard method. Next there's the singing game, which closely emulates the mechanics of Karaoke Revolution and SingStar, but, again, with a couple of specific differences. You sing along as the lyrics display on the screen, trying to match your vocal pitch to the meter that moves up and down with the original vocal track. The key thing about singing is that the number of sections where a singer actually gets to do his or her thing is somewhat limited. But even those down moments aren't left for pure silence. Sometimes the vocal area of the screen will turn yellow, indicating for you to "make some noise," which then engages overdrive. There are also sections where you can simply tap the microphone to the rhythm of the song to get a tambourine or cowbell section going. Beyond these wrinkles, the core of the vocal game design is to just sing, sing, sing...and occasionally rap. If there is any complaint to be made about the vocals, it's that it doesn't leave a lot of room for interpretation. On the higher difficulty settings, the game is extremely intent on you hitting the mapped pitches as closely as possible, even in situations where it seems like the mapped pitches aren't quite exact to what the original vocalist is doing. The same goes for the timing of each word. In some songs vocalists will trail off, but you can't really do that and still get the max score, which makes the vocals feel a bit robotic. Still, most vocal pieces are quite fun regardless, and in a nice touch to help middling vocalists everywhere, you can adjust the original vocal track volume via the controller as you play, so you can use it for as much or as little of a guide as you prefer. Finally there are the drums, easily the most intense and enjoyable instrument of the bunch. The kit consists of a collection of four color-coded pads and a kick pedal, along with a pair of drum sticks. There's really no reference point for the drums portion of the game except for, well, real drums. You hit the pads in time as you would with a realistic drum kit, and on expert, the game practically maps out each song's drum part note for note. Make no mistake: When you are playing on expert, you are playing the drums. If you can do well on expert, you can probably pull out a decent beat on a real drum set at will. The good news for novices is that easy difficulty does a pretty good job of easing you into the act of drumming. The number of notes is much more limited, kick pedal usage is rare, and drum fills are eased back quite a bit. Speaking of fills, one really cool thing about the drum portion of the game is that it allows for some improvisation. The way the drums handle overdrive is to give you some blocked-out sections where you can just bust out any kind of drum fill you want. The pads act as a snare, two tom-toms, and a crash cymbal. Go nuts, but just be sure you hit the last crash cymbal note at the end of the fill, at which point you will engage overdrive. If there is any issue to be taken with the game's hardware, it's its reliability. For instance, one of our pre-release kick pedals from the drum kit, which is made up of a somewhat thin piece of plastic hooked into a spring underneath it, actually snapped in half during a particularly heated rendition of The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again." The other pedals we used for testing held up despite some extreme thrashing, but all the same, our suggestion is that if you've got a Mr. Heavyfoot in your band, tell them to go shoeless and ease up on the pedal slammage a smidge. Another issue is the USB microphone. One of our retail boxes came with a broken mic that cut in and out and wouldn't register our vocals properly. Any supported USB headset mic will apparently work in a pinch on the PS3, and the standard Xbox 360 headset works on there as well, but regardless, that's still a concerning issue. At least EA seems to be aware of potential hardware issues, as a big flyer inside the box explains the 60 day hardware warranty that comes with the game and directs you to an EA Web site. You might want to keep that URL handy if you run into any issues. Those are all the technicals of the instrumental gameplay, but none of that quite emphasizes how excellent the game is at emulating the act of band play. By themselves, each instrument is basically fun, but when you get four people together playing at once, something spectacular emerges. Part of it is the way in which scoring has been designed for cooperative play. Overdrive can be turned on by anyone, but the more people you have in overdrive at once, the higher the score bonuses. By the same token, if one person in your band fails out of a song, another can simply engage overdrive (provided enough is stored up at that point) and come to the rescue, bringing the player back into the fold. But it goes beyond even the scoring mechanics. There's just something intangibly brilliant about the way having everyone play together feels. For instance, because the drums emulate the real-life instrument so closely, having a good drummer is paramount for success. If your drummer gets off beat, it can badly screw everyone up. Along the same lines, when your drummer is in a solid groove and the rest of the band is able to lock into that groove, the feeling that you're actually performing a song as opposed to simulating one is palpable, and it is quite the exhilarating feeling.

Even though I’ve always enjoyed playing games like Euro Truck Simulator, I wouldn’t describe myself as a fan of the simulator genre. More recently though, as the genre has evolved, new games have found themselves stuck within this designation and so now, I’ve found myself enjoying a new wave of titles. Games such as House Flipper and Plane Mechanic Simulator gave me quite a good number of hours of great fun, so I immediately got eager to get my hands on Tank Mechanic Simulator as soon as I heard about its existence. Tank Mechanic Simulator is all about what you’d expect, given its name. By focusing only on tanks from the Second World War, the game also ends up allowing you to open your own museum and showcase tanks in there and even though this is not the main point of the game, it adds some extra flavour to it. Simulator games can be daunting and sometimes people might even just walk away as soon as they know a certain game is a simulator, but while the word is in the name, Tank Mechanic Simulator is an extremely easy game to get into. The game does have a tutorial system in place that gives you some guidance by presenting you with different contracts that approach each of the game’s mechanics. However, this system can simply stop working or keep on showing you the same tutorial message over and over again, which initially forced me to start over on a new profile. In terms of how it plays, the game is quite accessible and easy to handle. You can select individual tank parts by left-clicking on them, and you remove them or assemble them by holding down right-click; this is depending if you’re on assembly or disassembly mode. Everything can be pretty much done via a radial menu that allows you to check tanks’ stats, its interior, get inside the tank and switch between different seats, check your storage and order new parts, and even disassemble the turret module or remove the engine with a single click. Your whole workflow becomes quite smooth once you get the hang of everything. The premise and the gameplay loop of the game are quite simple. You have your own workshop where you take contracts to either repair/restore tanks or to extract tanks that were just found in the wilderness. By completing these contracts you not only get paid in cash, but you also earn reputation points. These points represent the game’s only progression system, as they are used to unlock a myriad of upgrades, from more slots to store tanks on your property, to new tools to more efficiently restore tanks or just simple passive bonuses like discounts on repairs and new tank parts. Oh, and you can also unlock the ability to test drive tanks, but who is actually interested in that, right? Now, on a more serious note, driving is not really that great, and if you wanted to drive from a first-person view from inside the tank, just forget it, that is almost absolutely impossible, you can barely see anything through the tiny driver hole. The game features 14 different tanks, including a few iconic Panzers, a StuG, a Sherman, and the soviet KV-1 and KV-2. Nevertheless, while each fourteen of them are different from each other, the way you approach them as far as gameplay goes doesn’t change. No matter the tank, the entire process of repairing it will always be to either outsource the repairs and pay a hefty sum for it, which most often than not is not covered by the contract completion payment, or you do it yourself, which is the fun part. These tanks that will stop by your shop will have been through hell, a lot of them have been buried for decades, so getting them back to shape is a thorough process. First, you start by grinding each part to remove all the rust that it has accumulated, and then you sandblast the whole thing to make sure it gets as clean as it can get before you move on to the next phase of the restoration process. After this is done, all that is left is to place a primer coat and then proceed to paint the tank with its original colour scheme. Rinse and repeat. Extracting tanks is also a fun activity, even though it’s short-lived and even if it might be a bit frustrating at first. The way it works is that you find yourself in the countryside, with either a jeep from the Second World War or an off-road quad-bike to move around. To find the nearby tank, you must access your tablet and move to the area it suggests where the tank might be located. Once you’re there, you must then use a metal detector, a magnetometer, or a drone, to pinpoint the exact spot where the tank is located, and after that, it’s time to call in the excavation team to dig it up. After that’s done, all that is left for you to do is to wash away the mud from the tank and take it back to your workshop to restore it to its former glory. With that said, contracts don’t really require you to repair tanks up to 100% condition, they usually just ask you to reach a certain repair completion rate that doesn’t take as much time to achieve. As I’ve mentioned earlier, the game seems to have some issues with its tutorial system, but the game’s technical problems don’t end there. I’ve had this recurrent problem where, whenever I open the storage and select a tank model to do something with its parts, the parts initially show up, but after a split second they just disappear. To fix this, I just have to keep on switching between tank models until they eventually show up. Furthermore, there are a lot of times where the game will tell me that I don’t have available parts to place in a given spot, even though I have multiple of them in my storage. As far as I can tell, there is no way to get around this, besides doing the whole repair work myself. That is pretty much the entire game. For some people, this might sound like actual work and quite boring, but, as tends to be the case with these simulator games, the gameplay itself can be quite engaging if you’re a huge fan of the subject of the matter, which in this case happens to be World War II tanks. Despite a few annoying bugs that don’t really break the game, I’ve been enjoying my time with Tank Mechanic Simulator, but its gameplay loop is starting to wear on me after 8 hours. While the game is quite competent at what it does, I’d only really recommend this to people who are absolutely thrilled by the idea of dismantling a tank to pieces and putting it back together. If you’re looking for the next big simulator hit, sadly you won’t find that here.

US President Donald Trump has accused "false media" of harming the interests of the United States by spreading false news about Iran, saying that Tehran may not understand for this reason what is really happening. Trump said in two tweets he posted today, Friday, on his official account on Twitter: "False media is hurting our country with its fake and inaccurate coverage of the Iran issue. It is scattered and based on weak (perhaps fabricated) sources and dangerous!" And Trump added: "At least Iran does not know what to think, which at this time may be a good thing." In spite of the continued escalation between the United States and Iran, several indications issued by the White House in the past days indicate that Trump does not wish to engage in direct military conflict with the Islamic Republic, amid reports of a major dispute in the administration of the President on the way to deal with this issue, Especially in light of National Security Adviser John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo insisting on a tougher approach. Trump, during a press conference at the White House, on Thursday, expressed his hope that his country would not go towards a war with Iran, while the New York Times quoted officials in the President's administration that he informed the Chargé d'Affaires of the United States, Barrick Shanahan, that he did not want him. In any open military confrontation with the Iranian forces. The Middle East is experiencing great tension against the backdrop of a sharp escalation of relations between the United States and Iran, and the Trump administration ordered, earlier in May, the deployment of an aircraft carrier and B-52 bombers in the Gulf under the pretext of "Iranian threats."

Microsoft will not provide new malware signatures for its home-grown Security Essentials software after it retires Windows 7 in five weeks. "No, your Windows 7 computer is not protected by MSE ((Microsoft Security Essentials)) after January 14, 2020," the company said in a support document mainly concerned about the Extended Security Updates (ESU) being shilled to enterprises. "MSE is unique to Windows 7 and follows the same lifecycle dates for support." [Related: Windows 7 to Windows 10 migration guide] Security Essentials, a free antivirus (AV) program that launched in 2008, was originally limited to consumers. However, in 2010, Microsoft expanded the licensing to small businesses, defined as those with 10 or fewer PCs. Two years after that, MSE was replaced by Windows Defender with the launch of Windows 8. [Got a spare hour? Take this online course and learn how to install and configure Windows 10 with the options you need. ] Since then, Defender has been baked into each follow-up version of the OS, including Windows 10. Windows 7, though, has been stuck with MSE. Computerworld previously speculated that Microsoft would provide updates to MSE even after Windows 7's retirement, slated for Jan. 14. The forecast was based on Microsoft's behavior five years ago, when it kept cranking out malware signature updates for Windows XP users of MSE in the months after that operating system's April 2014 retirement. What Computerworld neglected to consider, of course, was that in 2014 MSE still had a large pool of users or potential users, those running Windows 7. Because Microsoft was still required to produce MSE signature updates for Windows 7, there was no, or little extra work needed to push the same updates to XP. That's not the case now; Windows 7 is the end of the line for MSE. Without question, it would be in Microsoft's interest to continue updating MSE on Windows 7 after Jan. 14; Unprotected systems threaten the Windows ecosystem as a whole, because exploitation of, say, one Windows 7 PC could lead to the compromise of several other devices on the same network, such as one connecting the machines of a small business. But Microsoft has presumably weighed that against its desire to induce customers to upgrade to Windows 10 and found for the latter.

In life, many of the issues that cannot be controlled are imposed on us, and society plays an important role in building a lifestyle that we can be brought up with and adapt to, but soon we can change the course of this pattern and draw the path we want, even if years have passed. Advertising The lifestyle is changing, otherwise we fall into the routine and there is no obstacle in seeking to create a new lifestyle that fits with our aspirations away from the rule that society and the environment set for us. So what when we really risk what we are and tend to change this pattern? For some, this is necessary in order to keep pace with development and strive to break the routine somewhat. For others it is a fundamental change in the sense of seeking to adopt the style that they really desire, but for circumstances they did not have during a certain period to live in a certain style they thought they could adapt to it, but once they could rebel against That reality risked what is fixed and known to launch into a world they wanted as they are planning to implement it, but here it is necessary to be alert to an important point which is that they risk heading towards an unknown. And here we are talking more about those who had established a lifestyle that they have adapted to for years and years, and not just a young man who is still building a new future. Here, perhaps good planning and sound strategy are the first step towards a successful start ... But how do we take a steady step when making such a decision? What factors control our lifestyle? And when can we really embark on a lifestyle as we want it? "Life and People" addressed this topic, with: Khaled Al-Jurdi, NLP Instructor, USA Muhammad Awad, a Jordanian writer, from the United Arab Emirates. There was participation from the listeners and everyone who joined the program's Facebook page.
