The Aston Martin DBR1 is a sports racing car built by Aston Martin starting in 1956, intended for the World Sportscar Championship as well as non-championship sportscar races at the time. It is most famous as the victor of the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans, Aston Martin's only outright victory at the endurance classic. It is one of only three cars in the 1950s to win both the World Sports Car Championship and Le Mans 24 Hours in the same year (the others being the Ferrari 375 Plus in 1954 and the Ferrari 250TR in 1958). In addition the six World Sports Car Championship victories was a record for any car in the 1950s and remained a record in the championship until surpassed by the Ferrari 250TR. The three consecutive triumphs in 1959 at the Nürburgring, Le Mans and the Tourist Trophy equalled the record set by the Ferrari 250TR with its three consecutive victories at the start of the 1958 season. Who here loves Harry Potter? I sure do, but even if you scoff at the book series, you probably have still heard of the wizarding sport Quidditch. But Quidditch is no longer only an invention by J.K. Rowling, safely tucked within the pages of a few novels—it has made its way into the real world. It is played at the collegiate level and worldwide, and there are even some high school teams. It draws in Harry Potter fans, athletes looking for a new and interesting sport, and others who’ve stumbled upon it during Orientation, or were dragged to practice by their friends. aYou know who you are. This year, Quidditch became part of my life here at the University of Rochester. And I am so grateful that it did. The Weird and Wonderful World of College Sports: Quidditch | Admissions Blog

onic X Shadow Generations is a bundle video game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega. It features two games: a remaster of Sonic Generations (2011) and a new game called Shadow Generations, featuring Shadow the Hedgehog as a playable character. The game was first teased during Sony's PlayStation State of Play livestream on 31 January 2024. It is released for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 22 October 2024 digitally through the Digital Deluxe Edition, and physically on 25 October 2024, as part of the "Fearless: Year of Shadow" campaign. Gameplay features Classic and Modern Sonic can use the Drop Dash ability that debuted in Sonic Mania. The player can now set their controls to be based on either Sonic Frontiers or the original game's control scheme (referred to as "Standard" and "Legacy" respectively), with the former being the default setting. It is also possible to customize the control in player's favor, for the PC version of the game. When the controls are set to "Standard": The Boost activation button is mapped to Xbox RT2-1/R2/[SHIFT] instead of XboxX/Square/[A]. The Homing Attack is activated by pressing X button/Square/[LEFT CLICK] in mid-air while an object is locked on, rather than XboxA/Cross/ a second time. The Life system can now be turned on or off by toggling the "Challenge Tries" setting in the options menu. In addition to the five Red Star Rings, there are now three Chao hidden throughout every level in the game. Once found the Chao temporarily follow Classic and Modern Sonic through the levels before disappearing. The Collection Room was updated to include an option to view the rescued Chao. The player can collect the Red Star Rings and the Chao after Green Hill is restored. Sonic X Shadow Generations | Sonic Wiki Zone | Fandom

Ara: History Untold is the latest in a procession of turn-based 4X games trying to settle on the once-sovereign territory of Sid Meier's Civilization, and it's one of the more competent challengers to do so. The liveliness and detail of its animated towns and cities never fail to delight me – as a historical ant farm, at least. But it expects more of us as a world leader than Civ ever has, and doesn't really provide us with the tools to make it truly feel good to be the king. On a basic level, Ara doesn't have a vastly different view of history from its 4X forebears. Starting from roughly Neolithic times, you race down a tech tree split up into three acts of four ages each along a familiar and narrow path based mostly on Europe and its colonial offshoots. One little twist I did appreciate is that the final, futuristic era has a lot more to do with general AI, transhumanism, and cybernetics than going to space, which I think is a necessary and likely step on the path ahead of us that often gets skipped over in favor of interstellar travel. Solo Leveling Arise is fun in bursts but also filled with too much gacha-based padding and too many frustrations to rival the genre's best. While Sung Jinwoo has a detailed attribute system that lets you build him up, investing in areas like strength and agility as you go, the hunters’ leveling is much more reminiscent of your average gacha game. In order to upgrade them, you not only have to unlock them via draw cards, which are all based on RNG, but you also have to get duplicates of the same item to limit-break them. This wouldn’t be a problem if the rolls weren’t so terrible. Whether you’re hoping to pull an SSR-ranked weapon or character, the majority of selections have a drop rate of around 1.2%. For example, it took me about eight hours to pull a third support character. So unless you’re investing heavily in microtransactions, you should expect to grind for the weapons and characters you so desperately desire. I also found that it eventually becomes impossible to progress through the main story without repeatedly grinding out a lot of the same content. Solo Leveling Arise review: screenshot of a hectic boss fight. This issue rears its head around chapter six, where Dungeon Breaks and Hard mode are first introduced. The former sees you fighting the same reskinned minions and bosses from familiar, lifeless, and repetitive stages, cycling through only six or so backdrops, ranging from slight variations of caves to cityscapes. The most frustrating part is that the difficulty scale isn’t necessarily based on challenging, skill-based encounters but on the fact that I was working against the clock. Every single stage has a terribly tight time limit. If you don’t finish off the boss by the time the clock hits zero – after you’ve already likely defeated three rooms worth of additional enemies on the way – then the entire level is a wash. While this is certainly a speedrunner’s dream and also fits in with the urgency of the narrative, the roughly three-minute maximum time limit is brutal, especially when you progress to harder enemies such as Igris. Featuring more RAM, a better camera, and larger screens, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition is thinner, lighter, and bigger than the regular model, but it's unlikely to leave Korea. Samsung has a new variant of its large foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition (SE), but for now, it's only coming to Korea. For those of you wondering, "Why does this device exist?," the translated press release offers an answer. In a statement attributed to Sung-Taek Lim, executive VP of Samsung Electronics Korea, Samsung is offering this product "in Korea as a gesture to domestic consumers leading the foldable market." There is no mention of launching the Z Fold 6 SE outside of Samsung's home country. Perhaps this is a preview of what a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be, though its release is not expected until mid-2025. A lot about the new Z Fold 6 SE is unknown, and we reached out to Samsung for more details. But we'll learn more when sales begin on Oct. 25 through its site and local carriers, starting at 2,789,600 won (or about $2,024 USD). The company is also bundling discounts with purchases on several accessories like the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, Galaxy Ring, and Galaxy Watch Ultra until the end of the year. The spoon-billed sandpiper (Calidris pygmaea) is a small wader which breeds on the coasts of the Bering Sea and winters in Southeast Asia. This species is highly threatened, and it is said that since the 1970s the breeding po[CENSORED]tion has decreased significantly. By 2000, the estimated breeding po[CENSORED]tion of the species was 350–500. Taxonomy Platalea pygmea was the scientific name proposed by Carl Linnaeus in 1758. It was moved to Eurynorhynchus by Sven Nilsson in 1821. It is now classified under the calidrid sandpipers. Description The most distinctive feature of this species is its spatulate bill. The breeding adult bird has a red-brown head, neck and breast with dark brown streaks, blackish upperparts with buff and pale rufous fringing. Non-breeding adults lack the reddish colouration, but have pale brownish-grey upperparts with whitish fringing to the wing-coverts. The underparts are white, and the legs are black. It is 14–16 cm (5.5–6.3 in) long. Spoon-billed sandpiper - Wikipedia

Top election officials from the battleground states of Arizona and Pennsylvania said Sunday that the 2024 election will remain secure amid increasing threats from foreign agents. Pennsylvania Secretary State Al Schmidt and Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, who occupy nonpartisan roles, told CBS’ “Face the Nation” they have been preparing for attempts from foreign agents to interfere in the election. Fontes said security protocols at the polls and tabulation centers have intensified and are “absolutely and completely different from 2020.” Election workers in Arizona at the Maricopa County Tabulation Center will be protected behind bullet-proof glass, with police drones and rooftop snipers deployed for extra security. This election cycle has seen a rise in threats from foreign countries looking to sow distrust in the US election process. US intelligence found Russian influence actors spreading allegations of undocumented immigrants voting illegally. Fontes said such allegations suggesting the election will be overturned by false narratives is part of the “nonsense” he is dealing with. “Unfortunately we still have candidates, elected officials and folks with large megaphones lying,” Fontes said. “They are basically playing the role of useful idiots.” Schmidt said he is “very concerned” about a fabricated video that depicts a poll worker destroying ballots in Pennsylvania. US intelligence officials determined that Russia is behind the fake clip. Both Fontes and Schmidt affirmed they would certify the results of the presidential election regardless of its outcome.
