If you've ever been working in your 😄 drive, you may have come across a hidden file named .GamingRoot and wondered what it was or if it was supposed to be there. Well, worry not, as this isn't any type of virus, nor is it an important file for your operating system. But there is a reason that it's there and here's why you probably shouldn't just delete it. The .GamingRoot file is a file that is created when you install the Xbox app on a Windows 10 or 11 PC. When you install the Xbox app on your PC, the Xbox Games folder and .GamingRoot file will be generated on your main storage drive, as well as any other drive that you have installed games on. In order to see the .GamingRoot file on your drive, you will need to enable the show hidden items setting in the file explorer, under the View tab. It isn't necessary to delete this file as it is not harmful to your PC in any way. The Xbox app is also owned by Microsoft, so this is a legitimate file on Windows. If you use the Xbox app and do have games installed on the drive, then deleting it won't really do anything, because the next time you launch the Xbox app it will just create a new file. If you don't use the Xbox app and don't have any games installed on the drive, then you are welcome to delete it. But, while you're at it, you might as well uninstall the Xbox app, otherwise it will just keep coming back. If you don't have the Xbox app installed and this file is still present in your 😄 drive, then it is most likely because of the Xbox Game bar which is preinstalled on Windows. Two men were arrested in Boston over the weekend for flying a drone “dangerously close” to Logan International Airport as investigations into objects in the sky continue across the East Coast. Robert Duffy, 42, of Charlestown, and Jeremy Folcik, 32, of Bridgewater, were arrested Saturday evening, taken into custody on Long Island, part of the Boston Harbor Islands, “following a hazardous drone operation near Logan Airport’s airspace,” Boston police said. Both were charged with trespassing. Authorities said that a Boston police officer specializing in crime surveillance detected an unmanned aircraft system operation near the airport, and identified the drone’s location. When police responded to the location, three suspects fled on foot and Duffy and Folcik were apprehended, with a drone found in Duffy's backpack. A search is ongoing for the third suspect. It's unclear if the suspects have retained attorneys. Boston police warned that even small drones pose "significant" risks, including "The potential for catastrophic damage to airplanes and helicopters. Near-collisions can cause pilots to veer off course, putting lives and property at risk." The arrests come as there have been drone sightings across the country, in some instances prompting closures of airports, leading lawmakers and the FAA to call for more oversight. Drone activity led to the closure of critical Air Force base airspace over the weekend. In Ohio, the Wright Patterson Air Force Base shut down for four hours after drones were spotted flying over and near the campus on Friday. The shutdown ended early Saturday, NBC affiliate WDTN of Dayton reported. The drones were described small, unmanned and did not disrupt operations on the base, a spokesperson for the 88th Air Base Wing said. Meanwhile in Northeast, runways at at New York Stewart International Airport in Orange County were closed Friday night for about an hour due to drone activity in the airspace, Gov. Kathy Hochul said. She called for federal assistance and said that federal partners were sending drone detection system. But she and other lawmakers say more needs to be done in regulating drone use. “I am grateful for the support, but we need more. Congress must pass a law that will give us the power to deal directly with the drones,” she said on X Sunday. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on Sunday requested the Department of Homeland Security send a drone detection system to New York and New Jersey, after a number of drone sightings have been reported in the Northeast. Schumer told reporters that it’s “remarkable” that despite the volume of sightings, “we have more questions than answers.” He too pushed for legislation to give rights to state and local law enforcement agencies to use software to detect unmanned aerial devices. New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said on X he met with New Jersey State Police and radar technicians who are “surveying the area for unmanned aircraft systems” on Sunday evening “The public deserves clear answers — we will keep pushing the federal government for more information and resources,” he said. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security are investigating the sightings. In a statement Thursday the agencies said there’s no evidence that the sightings pose a “national security or public safety threat or have a foreign nexus.” Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security, on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” Sunday acknowledged recent drone sightings, saying that in some cases managed aircraft were commonly mistake for drones. “There are thousands of drones flown every day in the United States, recreational drones, commercial drones. That is the reality. And in September of 2023 the Federal Aviation Administration, the FAA, changed the rules so that drones could fly at night, and that may be one of the reasons why now people are seeing more drones than they did before, especially from dawn to dusk. And so that is the reality, but I want to assure the American public that we are on it,” Mayorkas said. “We know of no foreign involvement with respect to the sightings in the Northeast. A type of sedative drug used to treat anxiety, insomnia and seizures called benzodiazepines — such as Valium and Xanax — are thought to raise dementia risk if taken over a long period of time. Dr Hasan said: 'It makes sense, it goes into your central nervous system it numbs your entire brain, it helps with anxiety, it helps with alcohol withdrawal. 'If you take them for a long period of time especially to help you sleep at night, they can induce dementia.' Several studies have shown a link between the drug and dementia. In one benzodiazepine study a team of researchers from France and Canada selected 2,000 people with Alzheimer's disease and 7,000 without it. Researchers found those who had taken benzodiazepines for three to six months had a 32 per cent greater risk of developing Alzheimer's, and those taking one for more than six months had an 84 per cent greater risk than those who hadn't taken one. Dr Hasan also highlighted that taking tricyclics antidepressants (TCAs) — a less commonly prescribed mental health drug compared to SSRIs — could also cause dementia. He explained that the theme for all these medications is they directly impact your brain, with the exception of omeprazole. 'They all affect your brain they cross the blood brain barrier, anything that sedates your brain for a long period of time including anesthesia can cause dementia,' Dr Hasan warns. He urged those who are taking these medications to always speak to a doctor before stopping, especially medications like opioids and benzodiazepines. Dr Hasan also suggested those who are 'scared or worried about dementia in the future' to speak with a doctor about the risks. There are currently estimated to be 982,000 people with dementia in the UK. This number is expected to rise to 1.4 million by 2040. An estimated 6.7million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer's dementia today. This number could grow to 13.8 million by 2060.
