  3. Volkswagen Group Components and the start-up Shanghai DU-POWER New Energy Technical Co., Ltd. plan to work together to produce flexible quick charging stations in China. An agreement to this effect was signed by representatives from both companies in Suzhou, China. Series production of the flexible quick charging stations is currently scheduled to start in the second half of 2020. Establishing production with a local partner is a key step in the rapidly growing electric vehicle market. “A comprehensive charging infrastructure is the key to the success of e-vehicles. The planned joint venture with DU-POWER therefore represents a significant milestone as we continue to make progress along the path to electric mobility. The innovative design of our flexible quick charging station has huge potential in China, not least because of the rapid growth of electric mobility,” commented Thomas Schmall, CEO of Volkswagen Group Components. “The electrification of the global automotive industry is a megatrend. As an ambitious high-tech company with a competent technical development core, we will work with Volkswagen to create a solid foundation to support the success of electric vehicles. The partnership for establishing a joint venture in China enables us to collaborate close on the technical aspects of the project to provide flexible, reliable and efficient solutions for the charging infrastructure,” remarked Yong Kang, CEO of Shanghai DU-POWER New Energy Technical Co., Ltd.. Following the conclusion of the requisite approval process with authorities, including merger control, Volkswagen AG and Shanghai DU-POWER New Energy Technical Co., Ltd. will ultimately each own 50% of the shares in the joint venture. The new company will be located in the Suzhou Wuzhong Economic & Technological Development Zone, near Shanghai, China. As previously announced, flexible quick charging stations will also be produced at the Hannover site in future. Production is to begin this year. With compact dimensions, the flexible quick charging station can be installed almost anywhere it’s needed or where a charging infrastructure is not yet in place. When connected to the low voltage grid, the station becomes a permanent charging point without the additional cost and effort required for a comparable fixed quick charging station. The built-in battery pack can store a buffer of energy meaning that it can be disconnected from the grid. This then eases the strain on the power grid, particularly at peak times. If electricity generated from renewable sources is fed into the charging station and temporarily stored there, the station enables carbon-neutral mobility. To ensure the sustainable use of valuable resources, the charging station is also designed to be able to use old batteries from electric vehicles as energy accumulators in future. Thanks to quick charging technology, e-vehicles can be charged with up to 150 kW.

  8. NVIDIA is preparing the successor to its Pascal-based GeForce MX 300 series entry-level mobility graphics chips which will feature the Turing GPU architecture. The MX series of GPUs target entry-level notebook designs, featuring a mix of low power and good graphics performance but they've yet to see architecture parity with the higher-end GeForce Desktop & Mobility parts.NVIDIA has refreshed its Turing based GeForce RTX and GeForce GTX lineup on both desktop and notebook fronts. With the likes of the RTX 2080 SUPER (Max-Q / Max-P), they currently dominate the high-end and even the mainstream segment with little to no effort by AMD's RTG to compete against them with its own Navi based lineup which has yet to be seen in action in this space. But, there's one market where NVIDIA's GPU efforts are getting crushed by the day and that's the iGPU side of things. Intel's Ice Lake with Gen 11 and AMD's enhanced Vega GPUs have allowed notebook GPU makers to stop relying on NVIDIA's discrete GPUs as these modern integrated solutions offer great graphics performance and don't require excess power or cooling requirements in a notebook. While NVIDIA has been trying to release and refresh its GeForce MX lineup to get the attention of laptop vendors, it's efforts have mostly been to release parts based on the previous generation Pascal architecture. NVIDIA's most recent GeForce MX300 series chips are based on the Pascal GP107 and Pascal GP108 architecture and while the specifications have seen a good boost along with a performance with up to a 70% boost over AMD's Ryzen 'Picasso' based CPUs Intel's Ice Lake CPUs, both Intel & AMD are not sitting ducks and will be updating its notebook iGPU lineup in the coming months. AMD already did so with the release of its Ryzen 4000 lineup which offers up to 95% performance of the GeForce MX350 with much lower power requirements since it shares its TDP with the 25W Renoir Ryzen 7 4800U APU. The Ryzen 7 4800U isn't even the best chip in AMD's lineup with the Ryzen 9 4900U & the Ryzen 9 4900H taking it up a notch in total graphics horsepower versus NVIDIA's GeForce MX GPUs. Intel, on the other hand, is also preparing its Tiger Lake-U processors which will deliver 2x the GPU performance uplift over Skylake's Gen 12 GPUs. The new Xe DG1 GPUs are expected to deliver very good performance numbers in a integrated design and are expected to launch in the second half of 2020. So how will NVIDIA tackle these two opponents with pose a large threat to their entry-level efforts? The answer is with Turing. NVIDIA's next MX GPU has leaked out by ROGame, a TU117 GPU based part that has a base clock of 540 MHz and up to 2 GB of GDDR6 memory clocked at 10 Gbps. The chip has a TDP of under 25W so similar to the current GeForce MX350 but it would definitely offer much better performance.
  9. Brock Lesnar put over Drew McIntyre in a big way at WrestleMania 36, as the Scottish Superstar kicked out of the F-5 on multiple occasions before laying out Lesnar with several Claymore Kicks and pinning him to win the WWE Championship. While Lesnar figures to take some time away before returning to WWE programming, it is already fair to wonder who The Beast will target when he comes back. Lesnar is among WWE's biggest draws, and he is always a huge part of the product whenever he is around. The 42-year-old has largely vied for world titles over the past few years, so going after one is a possibility, but Lesnar could also get involved in a feud that doesn't include a championship.
  10. BMW i8 end of production - roadster by Greg Kable 11 March 2020 BMW has confirmed that production of its i8 plug-in hybrid sports car will end next month, nearly six years after it was launched. The company's Leipzig plant in Germany will cease production of the Porsche 911 rival in mid-April, following a decision to focus its engineering activities on the development of a new range of electric models, including the iX3 compact SUV, i4 saloon and iNext SUV flagship. A new electric sports car, based on last year’s Vision M Next concept, is expected to arrive within the next five years.by Greg Kable 11 March 2020 BMW has confirmed that production of its i8 plug-in hybrid sports car will end next month, nearly six years after it was launched. The company's Leipzig plant in Germany will cease production of the Porsche 911 rival in mid-April, following a decision to focus its engineering activities on the development of a new range of electric models, including the iX3 compact SUV, i4 saloon and iNext SUV flagship. A new electric sports car, based on last year’s Vision M Next concept, is expected to arrive within the next five years. The first model to join BMW’s i sub-brand has garnered more than 20,000 sales worldwide since it first went on sale in coupé guise in 2014 before being facelifted in 2018 – at which time the open-top i8 roadster model was added to the line-up. Initially revealed in turbodiesel concept form at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show, the i8 went on sale in 2014 as the high-performance flagship of BMW’s then-new i electrified vehicle range, above the i3 electric hatchback. In its six years on sale, the i8 has acted as a figurehead for a growing range of plug-in hybrid BMW models, as well as pioneering carbonfibre construction processes that have subsequently been integrated into parts of other, more conventional BMW models, including the Carbon Core body structure of the latest 7 Series. The mid-engined 2+2 has been sold with just one powertrain option throughout its production run: a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine mated to a low-output electric motor. Performance figures have remained largely unchanged, although the 2018 update boosted output from 357bhp to 369bhp. In an official statement, BMW said the i8 would cease to be produced following the end of a limited 200-unit run of Ultimate Sophisto Edition models. Exact production figures have not yet been released, although the German car maker confirmed the 20,000th example of the i8 was produced in December 2019 as part of Ultimate Sophisto Edition production. This places it well ahead of previous BMW sports cars in terms of production numbers; production of the M1, launched in 1978, reached 399 units, while production of the Z8, introduced in 2000, was limited to 5000 units. BMW research and development bosses last year confirmed to Autocar that decisions were being made about the future of the i8, and that it could be reborn as an electric rival to the second-generation Tesla Roadster and long-rumoured Audi R8 e-tron. Little is known about the next-gen model's powertrain or design, but sources suggest it will be developed using a 'race to road' strategy that aims to provide a tangible link between BMW’s involvement in Formula E single-seater racing and its i division. BMW dealerships have already started to offer the i8 at significantly reduced prices in the run-up to its retirement. Several were offering the hard-top variant for £93,115, which represents a discount of nearly £20,000 on its £115,105 list price.

  12. Zoom's recent surge in po[CENSORED]rity as a result of the coronavirus outbreak has made the video conferencing platform a prime target for hackers.Security researchers at Check Point have observed a sharp uptick in new domain registrations that contain the company's name since the public health crisis began. According to the company's research, there have been 1,700 new Zoom-related domains registered since January of this year. However, of these domains, 25 percent of them were registered in just one week during mid-March. Check Point was also able to confirm that at least 70 of these 1,700 domains were being used maliciously by cybercriminals as phishing websites designed to steal users' personal information. In addition to using Zoom-related domains to launch phishing attacks, Check Point also discovered malicious executables that contained Zoom in their file names. Opening these files causes the InstallCore PUA to be installed on a victim's computer which could potentially lead to additional malicious software being installed on their machines. However, according to Check Point, hackers aren't just targeting Zoom as the cybersecurity firm found similar files that contained Microsoft Teams in their file names. The researchers also discovered fake domains for other po[CENSORED]r services such as Google Classroom which is being used by teachers that have to conduct their classes virtually. In this case, hackers tried to trick users by misspelling the sites official name to lead them to phishing websites. To prevent falling victim to these and the other coronavirus-related scams making their way around the web, Check Point recommends that users check all of the emails they receive carefully, avoid opening unknown attachments or clicking on links in emails and check to make sure that the domains of the websites they visit are spelled correctly.
