Apple's highly anticipated iOS 18 software update is poised to make waves, potentially marking a significant milestone in the tech giant's history. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has hinted at the magnitude of the forthcoming update, suggesting it could be "the biggest" yet from Apple. Gurman, in his recent Power On newsletter, shared insights gleaned from within Apple, indicating that iOS 18 is being internally hailed as a monumental leap forward. The revelation has sparked excitement ahead of Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), scheduled for June, where the update is expected to be officially announced. The buzz surrounding iOS 18 intensified following his earlier reports, which hinted at Apple's ambition for the update to be both innovative and compelling, surpassing previous iterations in scope and impact. While specific details remain under wraps, Gurman previously alluded to key enhancements, including a revamped Siri powered by cutting-edge AI technology. Additionally, improvements to Siri and the Messages app, such as enhanced auto-completion features, are anticipated. Apple Music enthusiasts can also look forward to auto-generated playlists, a feature that mirrors Spotify's offerings. Furthermore, Apple is reportedly exploring the integration of generative AI into its development tools, potentially streamlining the app development process. Productivity apps like Pages and Keynote are slated to receive updates harnessing the power of generative AI.The iOS 18 update may incorporate RCS (Rich Communication Services) support, aligning with Apple's commitment to enhancing messaging capabilities. Apple's decision to embrace RCS follows mounting pressure from consumers for greater interoperability across messaging platforms. However, Apple has clarified that messages originating from Android devices will continue to display as green bubbles on iPhones, despite the adoption of RCS. https://www.businesstoday.in/technology/news/story/apples-ios-18-may-be-the-biggest-software-update-in-iphone-history-says-report-see-expected-new-features-415320-2024-01-30

The competition between companies such as AMD, Intel and Nvidia shows no signs of slowing and 2024 looks set to be a hugely exciting year for PC enthusiasts and gamers with AMD's Zen 5 Ryzen 8000 series and Intel's 15th Gen Arrow Lake CPUs due as well as new graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia. This is off the back of 2023, which saw AMD's Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs launch with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D widely regarded as the best gaming CPU out there. We also saw Nvidia's RTX 4070, 4070 Ti, 4060 and 4060 Ti launch this year as well as Intel's 14th Gen CPUs. Here's my list of the top five PC hardware launches to look forward to in 2024.AMD has a new architecture planned for 2024 and Zen 5 will also use a smaller 4nm manufacturing process ushering in yet greater power efficiency to its already substantial lead over Intel in this area. Of course, the new architecture will also mean more performance, but it will also be compatible with current Socket AM5 motherboards.AMD's Ryzen 7000 series along with its Zen 4 architecture launched all the back in the last months of 2022 and despite it having a huge active fan base and the Zen 4 being highly anticipated, it came at a time of increasing prices and tightening wallets and AMD had the added task of forcing any would-be upgraders to invest in expensive DDR5 memory and new motherboards too. This time, though, memory and motherboard prices are far more reasonable than they were at launch. Since then the Ryzen 7000 series has gained traction and the 3D V-Cache gaming-centric models launched earlier in 2023 certainly helped. However, Intel matches or betters AMD's latest CPUs in most tasks except in games that benefit the most from 3D V-Cache and the Ryzen 8000-series is largely seen an important test for AMD's new Socket AM5 platform. MORE FOR YOU A Video of USVs Sinking a Russian Ship Illustrates U.S. Navy Concerns Potentially Hazardous Asteroid Passes Earth Today How To See It If These ‘Very Dangerous’ Apps Are On Your Phone, Delete Them Now It has reiterated it's support for Socket AM5, which will see new processors till at least the end of 2025 and possibly beyond that so even buying into the new platform late in 2024 when Ryzen 8000 is due to launch will still make sense seeing as there will likely be another few generations of processors launched after Ryzen 8000 too. Current Ryzen 7000 owners will likely need to upgrade their motherboard's BIOS but CPU coolers will still be compatible as the socket is staying just as it is and it goes without saying that if you own a current 600-series AMD chipset motherboard, it will be compatible with Ryzen 8000 too. https://www.forbes.com/sites/antonyleather/2023/12/29/the-top-five-pc-hardware-launches-coming-in-2024/?sh=43b4d13e30d6

Dedicated fandom has two states: cultishly devoted or aggressively cynical. So here's something that Total War: Warhammer's more jaded fans (It's me, I'm the jaded fan) sometimes have trouble admitting: even if Creative Assembly was to Doomrocket the entire franchise tomorrow, it would still have long ago earned its place in strategy game history as an all-timer. The most recent series sales figures sit somewhere around 40 million, and it rarely slips out of Steam's top 100. With a helping paw from Vermintide, it even convinced Games Workshop that bringing back a beloved setting might actually be worth a few quid. The recent volatile discourse around both the game and studio may point to a mass fan exodus if the upcoming Thrones of Decay DLC isn't something special. But wherever we go from here, the Horsham studio's odd little experiment has already worked wonders. It's worth noting that the trilogy works quite differently to other franchises. Any full games or DLC purchased since the release of Warhammer 1 are still relevant in Warhammer 3, making it effectively a trilogy-shaped single game. As a player, I've got 1700 combined hours logged. It'd be impressively delusional to pretend I haven't got my money's worth. But we whinge because we care, and because we want nothing but the best for our disgusting little rat friends, and things have certainly been the wrong types of both grim and dark recently. The period since Warhammer 3's launch, and especially the last few months following the release of the much-maligned Shadows of Change DLC, have felt like the most tumultuous in both Total War: Warhammer and Creative Assembly's history. What's a less cool sounding version of grimdark? Shitbleak, I guess. It's all been a bit shitbleak.Rome 2's rocky release may have reached fan folklore status, but even the jankiest of launches pales in comparison to the cancellation of publisher Sega's most expensive project in the shuttered Hyenas, followed by reports of extreme mismanagement and mass layoffs. Around the same time, Warhammer fans were treated to price hikes, a lackluster expansion in Shadows of Change, and a series of monumental PR goofs. https://www.pcgamer.com/the-state-of-total-war-warhammer-in-2024-the-next-updates-are-going-to-have-to-be-something-special/

Head of Egypt’s Syndicate of Journalists, Khaled El-Balshy, called for cancelling the jail penalty for publishing cases, in light of the constitution, during the Sunday session of the National Dialogue, which was held to call for issuing the long-awaited Freedom of Information Act.In a speech during the National Dialogue session on freedom of information and expression in Egypt, El-Balshy called for amending the pretrial detention articles of the constitution. The pretrial detention articles “have turned this preventive measure to a penalty imposed on many journalists and opinion holders over the past years,” El-Balshy stressed. Article 71 of the 2014 constitution sti[CENSORED]tes that “no custodial sanction shall be imposed for crimes committed by way of publication or the public nature thereof. Punishments for crimes connected with incitement to violence or discrimination amongst citizens, or impugning the honour of individuals, are specified by law.” El-Balshy cited the article to affirm the need to cancel jail penalties in publishing cases. The syndicate’s general assembly also called for amending legislations regulating journalism and media to consolidate the independence of press institutions, facilitate the work of journalists, and remove restrictions imposed on freedom of expression by some laws, he said. These legislations should be amended to also improve wages of journalism professionals in light of the nature of the profession, the responsibility they shoulder, and growing inflation, El-Balshy added. “We cannot speak about a law for free circulation of information while the public sphere is governed by legislations that block information and its means of transmission,” El-Balshy said, adding that these legislations also “threaten information publishers with imprisonment and even imprison them in some cases". The syndicate also calls for releasing the detained journalists and prisoners of conscience who did not engage in violence or incitement crimes, he said. El-Balshy also urged lifting the ban imposed on many websites and reviewing laws that give the green light for such procedures. “Most of our legal texts are dominated by the mentality of banning, restricting and censoring,” he said, adding that such mentality can be seen in the laws regulating media, the cybercrime law, the law to fight the spread of epidemics, and the law on publishing false weather information. El-Balshy called for issuing the information freedom law in line with Article 68 in the constitution, which obligates the state to disclose information, statistics and official documents. He stressed that the Syndicate of Journalists must attend the discussions leading up to issuing the law, he affirmed. Issuing Freedom of Information Act During the session, Ezzat Ibrahim, spokesman of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) and Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ahram Weekly, said the proposed legislation of Freedom of Information Act accords with the Constitution and the Ibrahim said that 2026 could be a deadline for the issuance of the Freedom of Information Act and its bylaws as it marks the end of the strategy's timeframe. The NCHR spokesman called on government authorities to allow the flow of information within the framework of the current laws to prepare the grounds for broad legislation that ensures the right of citizens to access information. Ibrahim urged the authorities to benefit from the experience of other advanced countries in order to produce appropriate and effective bylaws for the Freedom of Information Act. In May, the NCHR held a workshop to explore the possibility of issuing legislation that allows freedom of information as one of the constitutional rights. Ibrahim stated that the recommendations of the participants in the workshop will be submitted to the National Dialogue. Nevine Mosaad, the National Dialogue’s rapporteur of the Human Rights and Public Freedoms Committee, affirmed the need for freedom of information unrelated to national security. Senate member and journalist Emad El-Din Hussein, a member of the dialogue’s board of trustees, said that the circulation of information is essential for media platforms. Hussein warned that the absence of credible information provides a golden opportunity for those who spread rumours. “The moment information circulates, we will deal the biggest blow to the forces that mislead and spread rumours,” he stressed. Tarek Radwan, head of the human rights committee in the House of Representatives, said the issuance of the information freedom law protects the rights of citizens and guarantees the protection of privacy. The law includes guidelines and requirements for institutions and companies that deal with the personal information of individuals; it can also limit the risks of illegal use of this information, and internet fraud, Radwan explained. Senate member Tarek Saada, the head of Egypt's Media Syndicate, stressed that information should be available to ensure correct decisions in many fields, including economy, politics and human rights. Renowned journalist and parliamentarian Mostafa Bakry suggested forming a committee from the National Dialogue to prepare the original draft of the information freedom law. This draft, Bakry said, should be submitted to the parliament and undergo societal dialogue, Bakry added. https://english.ahram.org.eg/NewsContent/1/64/502803/Egypt/Politics-/Egypt-Journalists-Syndicate-urges-barring-jail-pen.aspx

CAIRO- 21 January 2020: Egypt has a total of 110 animal species, including 70 species threatened with extinction due to climate change impacts and poaching, said Ayman Hamada, director of Biodiversity Department at the General Directorate of Nature Conservation. "Climate change, habitat fragmentation due to human interference, and over harvesting are the main reasons behind the big loss in biodiversity,"he told reporters. “In spite of the fact that there are some mammals that are threatened with extinction, we can save them in case all factors of pollution, pet trade, and other elements [the above-mentioned reasons] are alleviated,” he told Egypt Today, giving further details on the seven animals proneto extinction. Egyptian tortoise "The Egyptian tortoise, which is considered a pet in many Egyptian houses, is the most threatened mammal with extinction due to illegal trade and poaching," says Hamada, adding that the Ministry of Environment considers all standards that were laid by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) when it announces that any species could become extinct. “The tortoise is threatened with extinction from its natural environment along the Mediterranean coast. They can be seen in only two places that we cannot reveal for their protection,” he said. The first global warning of Egyptian tortoise extinction was stated by the IUCN in October 1990, saying that the Egyptian tortoises “are increasingly endangered by habitat destruction and collection from the wild.” To save this species, Egypt has signed the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). In case you missed it… EgyptToday egypttoday,Politics,Business,Economy,Art,culture,Local news,Specialinterest,PressReview,News,Resources Mountain gazelle "The second species at the top of the list is mountain gazelle. Egypt had three types of gazelles; one of the three species, the mountain gazelle, became extinct dozens of years ago,"said Hamada, revealing that over the past 30 years, Gazellaleptoceros (aka Slender-horned Gazelle) cannot be seen. Mountain gazelle was put on The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 2016 as the po[CENSORED]tion of this species has declined to 2,500 individuals worldwide. “The third type is the dorcas gazelle and it became threatened with extinction. The main reason threatening all the Egyptian species is poaching,” he added. According to Animal Boi, mountain gazelles are considered one of the animals that have horns in females and males. They exist in other areas in the Middle East such as Palestine, Jordan, and Syria. https://www.egypttoday.com/Article/6/79876/70-species-threatened-with-extinction-in-Egypt

It’s time to look ahead and hope that all the talk about new electric SUVs, more hybrids and electrified versions of classics (Range Rover and Cadillac Escalade come to mind) come to fruition, despite most carmakers scaling back production and electrification goals in the second half of this year. 2023 was mostly disappointing with delays and broken promises, but some of last year’s hopefuls should make it to production and driveways in the next 12 months. We’ve compiled the top all-new cars that are expected to make it off the internet and onto the road before 2025. Many production promises are hanging in the balance for 2024 (like the new Lucid Gravity SUV that optimistically plans to start building the cars before year’s end) but we don’t expect customers to receive those vehicles until well into 2025. These are cars that should make delivery at some point in the new year. https://www.forbes.com/wheels/news/new-cars-2024/

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo's injury has forced Al Nassr to cancel its two-game China tour. However, the Portuguese forward was even more displeased with his 8th China tour due to the behavior of event organizers. The 38-year-old was even asked to play despite his injury, according to China News Weekly. Al-Nassr were scheduled to play Shanghai Shenhua on January 24 and Zhejiang four days later in Shenzhen, with both games now postponed due to Ronaldo's physical issues, tour organizers announced on Tuesday. At a press conference on Tuesday night, Ronaldo said: "I apologize to all Chinese fans. As you know, in football, there are things that cannot be controlled. I know everyone is sad, and I am too." However, other statements within the past few days have meant a disappointing end to his 8th trip to China, a country he calls a "second home."The organizers of the matches, SPORT17 and GHY Culture & Media, despite his knowledge, continued to publicly claim that Ronaldo would play in the matches. They even tried to persuade him to "play for the fans" on one public occasion which left him quite dissatisfied, China News Weekly reported. Al Nassr FC disclosed Ronaldo's injury on January 19. Many fans then questioned whether Ronaldo could play in subsequent China tour matches, according to an insider linked to GHY Culture & Media. The organizers, however, claimed during a live broadcast on the team's arrival at Shenzheng Airport that Ronaldo would participate in all the matches of the Al-Nassr China tour despite some physical conditions, and said it was not uncommon for a professional athlete to experience some pain during regular training. It was not until Tuesday night, just one day before the match against Shanghai Shenhua, that the organizers announced that Ronaldo had suffered a muscle injury which ruled him out, and led to Al Nassr postponing the tour. The insider believed the organizers concealed the information because they were worried about ticket sales. "The schedule of Al-Nassr's China tour was finalized last year, and the promotion surrounding Ronaldo was also released early. But if the organizer publicly said that Ronaldo could not play before the game, who would buy tickets?" The Portuguese star was also unhappy with the banquet he attended on Monday, which became a trending topic on Weibo with the hashtag "Cristiano Ronaldo toasted." The organizers sold a large number of seats of this event to buyers mainly being Internet celebrities. Many of them profited through ways such as live streaming with the presence of Ronaldo, who was bothered with demands for autographs and photos, and live streaming throughout the entire dinner. https://www.shine.cn/sport/2401252421/

With the arrival of another new year, you might be reflecting on what you'd like to achieve and the kind of person you want to be over the next 12 months. But while roughly a third of us plan to make resolutions or set goals for ourselves in 2024, sticking to them is quite another matter. In previous years, surveys have revealed between 17% and 45% of us abandon these attempts after just the first month. The majority of people quit their resolutions by the middle of the year, according to one study. (Although if a recent YouGov poll is to be believed, Americans were somewhat better at sticking to their resolutions last year, with only 16% of resolution-makers giving up before the end of the year.) These failures can lead to what some psychologists describe as an annual cycle of "false hope syndrome". Instead, there's some evidence that it might be better to set goals that are more achievable. Research suggests that approach-orientated goals – those that are realistic, specific and where success can be easily measured – tend to be more successful than those that focus on abstaining or avoiding something, such as giving up smoking or drinking. Deciding what to focus on, however, can be tough. So, to help you make up your mind, here are seven aspects of your life that you could focus on in the first week of the new year using some science-based tips. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20231229-how-to-improve-your-life-in-2024-according-to-science

recently introduced its latest S24 series, and as expected, the focus this year was on AI. The refreshed flagship lineup from the South Korean giant comes with something called the Galaxy AI, which is the company’s take on the generative AI service, which is mostly powered by Google Cloud. Samsung has officially confirmed that Galaxy AI will be extended to older models, by the first half of 2024. TM Roh, President and Head of MX business at Samsung Electronics, has confirmed that the Galaxy AI is coming to around 100 million Galaxy devices worldwide in the current year. Which Devices will get the Galaxy AI? At the recent Unpacked event, the company said that the new Galaxy AI features will come to older devices like the S23 series, S23 FE, Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5, and the Tab S9 in the first half of this year. Everyone thought the Galaxy S22 series would also get these features, but turns out, it’s not on the list. So, sadly, the S22 series won’t get any of the cool Galaxy AI stuff, and the list they showed at the stage was the comprehensive one. What is Galaxy AI and its Capabilities? Galaxy AI is Samsung’s way of using the power of your device to offer AI features and functions. Samsung first mentioned Galaxy AI in November 2023, saying it combines on-device and cloud-based services to make your experience better. Subsequently, the company has further developed the platform, and the Galaxy S24 series stands as the first tangible showcase of its potential. Here are the Galaxy AI’s capabilities: Live Translate: This feature provides real-time translation for conversations through the phone dialler or Interpreter mode, facilitating smooth two-way translations for in-person chats. Circle to Search: This is the most po[CENSORED]r feature of the lot. It allows users to circle or highlight text/images to instantly perform a web search, searching directly from visual content on the screen. Chat Assist: Designed to assist users in chatting across multiple languages on messaging and social apps, Chat Assist allows for adjusting the tone and fixing grammar and spelling errors. Note Assist: This function summarises documents and creates templates in Samsung Notes. Note: Assist intelligently condenses lengthy files or generates new document templates. Auto Replies: Summarising incoming messages and suggesting smart replies. It also enables users to respond to messages with voice commands and send informative auto-generated replies. Transcript Assist: This feature generates transcripts with speaker tags for voice memos, providing instant transcripts for audio recordings. Generative Edit: This feature allows for editing photos by generating new image content, allowing users to alter photos by removing objects or adding new generated visuals. Edit Suggestion: Offering recommendations to enhance photos, Edit Suggestion provides users with intelligent suggestions to improve their images. Instant Slow-mo: It converts standard videos into slow motion, making any video share-worthy in slow-motion format. https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/samsung-galaxy-ai-roll-out-across-100-million-devices-2024/
