  2. The NSX supercar represents one of the most exciting hybrids on the planet and a technological showcase for the Honda and Acura brands. This special vehicle was built to celebrate the automotive passion and cutting-edge engineering that exists at Honda and encapsulates a particular moment in time for production cars. The NSX supercar is a halo product for Honda is used as a marketing tool to sell lesser cars, but what if there was an NSX that could drive around your whole family? It may sound like blasphemy but this rendering of an NSX SUV is exactly what Honda needs to do to further grow the impact of the NSX brand. Sure, a mid-engine supercar is exciting, but in today’s SUV crazed market an SUV built with a similar passion as the NSX would be a winner. Honda has the opportunity to connect with more buyers while amortizing the development cost of the NSX’s advanced drivetrain It’s no secret that automakers are ditching coupes in favor of more practically shaped vehicles so it would only make sense that this trend would impact the world of supercars. In a world where Lamborghini, Porsche Bentley, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and soon Ferrari all offer high-performance SUVs, it’s time for Honda to cash in. An NSX SUV would most likely need to ditch the mid-engine configuration and go with a more traditional and packaging friendly front-engine layout. The NSX SUV also has more room for batteries lending to better electric performance to offset the larger layout and greater curb weight of an SUV. Sure an NSX SUV would be a massive departure from the traditional NSX layout, but in a world with both the NSX supercar and SUV can co-exist peacefully I see no reason to introduce this new model.

  3. Website builder Wix is bringing its Playground Academy program to Europe in January 2021. The initiative aims to get professional designers to collaborate with one another while receiver mentorship from award-winning creative during a one-month multi-disciplinary experience. The Wix Playground Academy was initially launched in 2018, operating out of Wix’s New York office. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the organization to find ways to offer the program digitally - meaning it can now be implemented in new markets. A digital playground The Playground Academy is open to 40 design students as part of each cohort free-of-charge, with participants selected on ability. They will have the option to work on various projects, attend workshops, develop their online portfolios and promote their work. Several courses are available, ranging from responsive design to content writing. The coronavirus pandemic has forced businesses to re-think how they operate, with digital tools filling in for face-to-face experiences. For events, this has proven most difficult, but even festivals and expos have gone online. As part of the Wix Playground Academy, field trips and get-together experiences will also be digitized. "Launching the program virtually isn't something we would have instinctively thought to do, as teaching design is a hands-on experience," said Hagit Kaufman, Wix's vice president of Brand and Design. "However, with in-person classes off the table, we were forced to find creative solutions to digital learning. The summer 2020 program showed us that it was not only possible to run a design program completely remote, but also that there were advantages in doing so. Our Academy graduates have gone on to work at top design firms and for leading brands around the world. COVID-19 has made the job market unpredictable, so being able to expand the Academy to Europe means being able to help more aspiring designers and prepare them for a career in the industry."

  5. The Demon’s Souls remake may not be coming to PC for the time-being, but at least we’ll get to enjoy the soundtrack. The rerecorded music from the original Souls-like game will be available digitally towards the end of November. Since we’re less than two weeks away from the release date, Sony’s been putting up some behind-the-scenes details on the RPG game‘s revamped soundtrack. In a video featurette, you can see the recordings taking place in London, where a 75-piece orchestra and 40-person choir, and a number of vocal and instrumental soloists, bring Shunsuke Kida’s haunting melodies back to life. Bill Hemstapat, a music editor and composer who’s worked on Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding, oversaw the new arrangements. The music was recorded at AIR Studios in London, using the pipe organ of London’s Temple Church. In the PlayStation Blog (cheers, Gaming Music News), Gavin Moore, creative director at SIE Worldwide Studios, talked up some of what makes Demon’s Souls’ soundscapes so special. “Music is used sparingly, and fear builds within you from its absence, and a sense of loneliness and desperation creeps in,” he writes. “But the void left by the music is filled with sound, which surrounds you and envelops you.” The Demon’s Souls soundtrack will be available digitally on November 26, and Gaming Music News says a physical version on CD and vinyl will come thereafter, revealing artwork for the vinyl cover. Here’s the short feature on the recording: As mentioned, the Demon’s Souls remake is a PlayStation exclusive as of now. The initial reveal did say a PC release was coming, which was recanted by Sony, but we’re staying hopeful. Sony’s keen on PC ports, after Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn did strong numbers, so we’ll see what happens. At least we’ll have the music, and Lego Dark Souls.

  9. The Lexus RC, along with the CT and IS, is on its way out of the European market according to recent reports. However, it's very much alive and kicking in its home market in Japan, with a special edition called "Emotional Ash" giving it a fresh and elegant yet dark demeanor. The RC Emotional Ash special edition is purely aesthetic, mind you, but the upgrades continue in the cabin and available across the luxury automaker's RC lineup. Most notably, the whole RC range in Emotional Ash flavor comes standard with Trinocular full-LED headlamps. Gallery: Lexus RC "Emotional Ash": Inside, the darkness continues with the accents on the steering wheel, dashboard, and door cards getting a coated dark Ash wood treatment. The F Sport Emotional Ash gets genuine leather sport seats with silver stitching. The leather transcends into the steering wheel paired up with paddle shifters. Rounding up the changes include a dedicated welcome screen for the 8-inch TFT LCD instrument panel – a bit gimmicky but something that makes it stand out from a normal Lexus RC. The Lexus RC Emotional Ash edition ranges from 6,469,000 yen to 7,477,000 yen, or around $62,000 to $72,000 with the current exchange rates. Availability in markets outside Japan isn't announced as of this writing.

  10. Office 365 users now have access to unlimited disposable recipient email addresses after the feature was added to Exchange Online. The addition was the number one requested feature from Exchange Admins using Microsoft’s UserVoice site. Now, Exchange Online users can make use of ‘plus addressing,’ where custom, unique email addresses can be created that are related but distinct from their regular address. “Plus addressing allows users to dynamically create unique email addresses that deliver messages to a user’s mailbox, but are easily distinguished from messages sent to the user’s regular email address,” the Microsoft Exchange Team explained. “There are two main use cases for this. Some customers want to filter incoming email and move certain messages to their own folders. Other customers have business solutions (such as support ticketing systems) that add a case ID to an email address to help track support threads.” A major plus One of the most exciting aspects of this new feature is the ability to filter incoming messages, alongside the extra control it gives users regarding their inbox. For example, you might want to add a plus address before signing up for specific marketing materials. That way, all the relevant messages you receive can be placed in a bespoke folder. Not only does this make it easier to keep your inbox organized, it also informs you of how spam messages got your email address. Although plus addressing is disabled by default, administrators can switch it on easily enough through the Exchange Online Powershell by running the following command: Set-OrganizationConfig -AllowPlusAddressInRecipients $true One potential problem has been identified, however. Because Exchange Online already supported email addresses that contained a ‘+’ character, enabling plus addressing may cause these addresses to stop functioning. Support for plus addresses was originally announced at Microsoft’s Ignite conference last year but only started rolling out last month.

  12. Long War is one of the best XCOM mods (Long War 2 is also one of the best XCOM 2 mods, while we’re on the topic), and the folks behind those projects are now bringing their experience to bear on something original: Terra Invicta. The game’s Kickstarter has just concluded, bringing in a total of $216,065 from 4,278 backers. Terra Invicta hit its modest initial funding goal of $20,000 in its first day, and ended up bringing over ten times that amount in its month-long campaign – just enough to hit all of its stretch goals. The game already has a publisher in the Texas-based Hooded Horse, which will be increasing its own funding for the title as a result of the Kickstarter’s success. As in XCOM, Terra Invicta has you defending earth from an alien invasion, but it expands the scope to that of full grand strategy and 4X games. You manage the campaign across the entire solar system, commanding your assets to do battle on your behalf. There are pausable real-time space battles that you directly control, but don’t expect boots-on-the-ground tactical strategy here. Check out a gameplay trailer below. Terra Invicta has been in development since 2017, and is expected to release in summer 2021.

  19. About three years ago, Polestar became an independent brand, rather than being Volvo's performance division. It still kept close ties with its Swedish partner but began building dedicated vehicles with a focus on plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles. The brand already has two products with the simple names 1 and 2, but folks in France aren't getting them – or at least not yet. The Polestar 2, which was due to arrive there at the end of 2020, faced a delay because of a trademark dispute with Citroën as reported by L'Automobile. What is Citroën accusing Polestar of doing? Citroën accuses the Polestar of counterfeiting and brand image infringement because of the Swedish automaker's logo. Indeed, Polestar's emblem is composed of two chevrons that face each other to form a star. A few months ago DS Automobiles – another brand in the PSA family – also came forward to complain about the Polestar logo, which DS claimed was a little too inspired by its own badge. Citroën took Polestar to court in France over the trademark dispute. In its case, the French brand bolstered its claim by showing comments from Internet users who noticed certain similarities between the Polestar logo and those of Citroën and DS. What did the court decide? The court dismissed Citroën's infringement claims over the Polestar emblem's design. It found that the logos have a weak similarity and have a different layout of the chevrons. At the same time, the court pointed out that the products are aimed at a public with knowledge of the badges, which would prevent the products from being confused. However, Citroën was found to be correct for the trademark infringement argument, since the court decided that the fact that Polestar's logo consisted of similarly shaped arches posed a problem. Because Citroën is a brand known worldwide as "the brand with the chevrons", Polestar could indirectly benefit from the reputation of Citroën's chevrons. In support of the decision, the Paris court found it relevant to point out that the Swedish firm's old logo featured the company name and a star. The new badge arrived in 2017, which was almost ten years after Citroën's last filing for the chevron emblem. The court ordered Polestar to pay Citroën €150,000 ($174,763.50 in current exchange rates) in damages for the infringement of the distinctive character of its trademark. And to make matters worse for Polestar, the court also prohibited the company from using its logo in France for a period of six months. People can't even access Polestar's site in France. Not an isolated case Polestar and Citroën are not the only companies that to have fought over the use of a logo. Before them there was BMW against the Chinese manufacturer BYD and a dispute between JAC Motors and Mercedes. Mazda and Renault fought when the Japanese firm changed its logo more than thirty years ago, and the new look was judged by Renault to be too close to the diamond it was already using. There have also been stories around car names, the most famous being the one that mixed Peugeot with Porsche and the 911 that was to be called the 901 base. Less common, there was also a small affair around the M-Class, which became ML shortly afterwards, following a remark from BMW. Source: L'Automobile Gallery: 2021 Polestar 2: First Drive

  20. Intel's Xe-based discrete graphics cards are promised to come next year, and one of the included features will be ray tracing support. According to a Phoronix report this week, Intel is currently working on ray tracing driver development for the Xe HPG discrete gaming graphics cards. Jason Ekstrand, as the lead developer of the new Linux and Vulkan-based ray tracing driver, has already posted the initial code to get ray tracing functioning in Intel's Xe GPUs. At the moment, there isn't enough code in the driver to get ray tracing functioning properly. However, Intel has already approved some of his code, and more of it is on its way to getting approved. Intel will be using the latest Khronos ray tracing specification for its driver. Simply put, Khronos is responsible for creating open-source ray-tracing extensions for the Vulkan API and is constantly updating the API with more efficient, diverse and reliable ray-tracing solutions. The big advantage of using Khronos' extensions is that it's all open source, allowing more people to work on the project since they don't have to be associated with a specific company. Plus, it's generally cheaper. Intel plans to keep using Khronos' open-source ray tracing extensions as much as possible. However, they might look at implementing Nvidia's in-house extensions if they find more and more games using Nvidia compared to Khronos' open-source solution. Intel plans to push hard in developing its ray-tracing driver and wants to have it finished before the Xe HPG graphics cards are ready for production in 2021 and being their battle for the title of best graphics cards.
