Azure Purview helps businesses achieve good governance Microsoft has announced that the latest version of its Azure Synapse toolset is now generally available. The updated solution will help businesses to understand where useful data is located and how best to use it, all while ensuring regulatory compliance. Azure Synapse was originally launched last year and has been well received in that time. Companies across a wide range of industries have already used the tools to bring added value to their customers and plan for strategic changes. “We started with the hypothesis that it’s too difficult for many organizations to use their own data and deploy AI, and there aren’t enough software engineers on the planet to fill the shoes of all of the analytics that’s going to need to get done,” said John Macintyre, director of product, Azure Synapse and Analytics Platforms at Microsoft. “We knew we could make this tremendously simpler.” Check out our list of the best cloud analytics software And here's our list of the best cloud computing services Also, see our roundup of the best business intelligence tools Good governance Microsoft’s new release encompasses Azure Synapse Analytics, a data analytics solution that brings together data integration, enterprise data warehousing, and Big Data analytics into a single service, as well as Azure Purview, a data governance solution that promises to deliver the next-generation of data cataloging. Data analytics is becoming increasingly important for a wide range of firms, particularly as the amount of digital data being created skyrockets. Already, FedEx has been working with Microsoft to build FedEx Surround, a new platform built using Azure Synapse Analytics to extract more insight, digitize supply chains and enable more efficient deliveries. However, with more data comes more responsibility. Businesses are under greater pressure than ever to maintain customer privacy and keep information secure. Azure Purview should be a huge help for companies looking to maintain good data governance.

IDC expects surge in PC shipments to continue into 2021. Driven by the needs of working from home and remote education, shipments of personal computers and tablets surged significantly this year. This month sales of PCs promise to increase well beyond expectations as demand for systems for home working and learning will be amplified by the holiday spending. Analysts from IDC expect demand for PCs to remain high next year, which might mean that shortages of certain components may persist. IDC projects that sales of desktops and laptops will increase 18.2% year over year in the fourth quarter of 2020, whereas shipments of mobile devices will surge 26.4% YoY in Q4 2020. In general, sales of PCs this year will increase 11.2% compared to 2019 mainly because of work from home and remote education needs. In fact, shipments of all devices that could be used for work, learning, and/or entertainment are up this year. "The momentum in the PC market has been impressive to say the least," said Ryan Reith, program vice president with IDC's Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers. "Consumers seem to be buying all ranges of notebook PCs from low-end entry level systems to high-end gaming machines. It is important to note that all of this is happening at a time when other device categories like smartphones, PC monitors, TVs, and gaming consoles are also growing. A clear shift in consumer spend has happened." It is no secret that it is hard to get AMD's newest CPUs and GPUs, Nvidia's GeForce RTX 30-series graphics cards as well as the latest game consoles from Microsoft and Sony. Meanwhile, it is unreasonable for semiconductor and electronics manufacturers to expand their manufacturing capacities significantly just to meet existing demand as soon as possible and then depreciate additional production tools for years. As a result, there are huge backlogs both in consumer and education segments will go into 2021. "Earlier this year it seemed like this would be a six-month bump to the industry, but as we look at the supply chain pipeline into 2021, it's clear that the surge has more legs," said Reith. "The education backlog remains extensive and many school districts around the world are doing everything they can to secure inventory." Demand for desktops and notebooks will remain high next year as well. In fact, IDC predicts that shipments of PCs will rise 1.4% in 2021. "Not only do we expect more PCs to ship this year and next, but the fundamental shift in everyone's workflow is also expected to have a lasting impact on the PC market in 2022 and beyond," said Jitesh Ubrani, research manager for IDC's Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers. "Longer term forecasts for PC shipments and average selling prices have increased as households inch towards one PC per person while buying PCs further up the stack." One thing that is noteworthy about increasing shipments of PCs is that sales of notebooks are growing, whereas sales of desktops are declining even when the whole market is up. IDC projects that 291.3 million of computers will be shipped this year, of which 215.8 million will be laptops and 75.5 million will be desktops.

Time Trials will allow players to compete against themselves and the global community. Developer King has confirmed that the endless runner Crash Bandicoot: On The Run will get a brand-new Time Trials game mode when it officially launches on Android and iOS next year. Time Trials lets players select any level to complete in the fastest time possible. There are three different times to compete against, with special relics unlocked after each clearing. King is also added Team Runs to Crash Bandicoot: On The Run's asynchronous online multiplayer. After securing five power gems, which are rewarded after defeating bosses, players can go online with a team of up to 30 members to challenge other global teams. Once a Team Run has been selected, three members from three different teams will race together to see who gets the furthest. The longer players run, the more Crash Points their teams earn. With the announcement, King shared a brief teaser trailer showing off the feel and pace of Time Trials in Crash Bandicoot: On The Run, which you can check out above. Crash Bandicoot: On The Run is slated to launch in Spring 2021. Pre-registration is available now on Android and iOS, and doing so unlocks a Blue Hyena skin when it comes out. For more on Crash Bandicoot: On The Run, check out our interview with creative lead Stephen Jarrett. The wacky marsupial mascot has returned to consoles with Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, which launched on October 2 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. In our Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time review, we scored it an 8/10, saying, "It's an injection of new ideas into now-classic gameplay that surprises and delights, even as it feels like a homecoming."

KBB Editors’ Overview KBB Overall Rating: 4.1 out of 5 The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque consistently remains a compact luxury SUV with an alluring shape, but the lineup has been simplified for 2021. The mild-hybrid model with 296 horsepower has been discontinued, which means all 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque models are powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with 246 hp. This is a refined and comfortable SUV, and it incorporates excellent everyday driving manners and good off-road ability into a solid chassis with lots of safety and driver-assist technology. Rivals include the Acura RDX, Audi Q5, Volvo XC40, and maybe even the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. How Much Does the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Cost? The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque P250 S carries a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $43,300, plus a destination charge of $1,050. Upgraded with the latest Pivi Pro infotainment, 20-inch wheels, and a power tailgate, the Evoque P250 SE starts at $48,000. All other 2021 Evoques are R-Dynamic models, which have a revised grille and bumpers, along with lots of extra body vents and other niceties such as 2-tone seats, chrome scuff plates, dark aluminum interior trim, and perforated leather on the steering wheel. In S form, the R-Dynamic Evoque starts at $44,900, while the R-Dynamic SE, equipped similarly to the standard Evoque SE, begins a $49,600. At the top of the lineup is the R-Dynamic Evoque HSE, a loaded model with a beautiful Windsor leather interior upholstery, a gesture-operated power tailgate, a 12-speaker audio system, and adaptive cruise control. This Evoque flagship starts at $53,400. Options can add thousands to the Evoque’s bottom line. Pricing for the Evoque is higher than the Audi Q5, Alfa Romeo Stelvio, and Lexus NX, but well below the BMW X4 and Porsche Macan. Always check the Kelley Blue Book Fair Purchase Price to see what others in your area are paying for their Land Rover Evoque. Expect the resale value to be about average, on a par with the Cadillac XT4 and Lincoln Corsair. Driving the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is a quiet and rigid SUV with modern electrical architecture that allows for today’s high-tech features. Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder making 246 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. Terrain Response2, the Evoque’s standard all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, has an Auto mode, plus these four others: General, Eco, Sand, Grass-Gravel-Snow, and Mud & Ruts. Off-road chops are further solidified by a Wade Sensing feature that allows all 2021 Evoques to ford a 23-inch-deep stream. An onboard ultrasonic sensor detects the water depth. Water Wade Sensing, and another feature called Clear Sight Ground View (which allows the driver to see what’s beneath the front of Evoque), come with a new 3D Surround camera, which is standard for 2021. It helps you see potential hazards in front of the Evoque, and it can be operated at speeds up to 18 mph. Favorite Features WATER WADE SENSING Proving just how serious Land Rover is about the Evoque’s off-road ability, all 2021 versions get Water Wade Sensing, a feature that uses ultrasonic sensors to measure water depth. A graphic on the central touchscreen depicts the Evoque, with a blue line representing the water depth. CLEARSIGHT REARVIEW MIRROR This feature, standard on the R-Dynamic HSE, replaces the traditional mirrored rearview with an HD video display screen hooked to a rear-facing camera. The display provides significantly better rear vision, with no rear headrests (or kids’ heads) to block the view. 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Interior The 2021 Evoque has a handsome 5-seat interior with premium materials and a pair of elegant 10-inch touchscreens. Fast-acting Pivi Pro infotainment is standard. It provides a smartphone-like interface, and it reduces the number of taps required for most functions. The home screen is customizable, and the system allows for regular over-the-air (OTA) updates. With the rear seat in the up position, the 2021 Evoque has 21.5 cubic feet of cargo space. When that seat is folded, the Evoque has 50.5 cubic feet. For comparison, the Cadillac XT4 has 22.3 cubic feet with the seat in place, and 48.9 cubic feet when it’s folded. The Lincoln Corsair is a bit roomier, with 27.6 and 57.6 cubic feet, respectively. 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Exterior Land Rover’s Range Rover Evoque, now in the second year of its second generation, still looks sharp. It’s a compact design, yes, but we really like the coupe-like silhouette and rising side beltline. And the R-Dynamic models continue to look sharp with their unique bumpers, grille, and multiple vents. While there are no major changes to the look of the Evoque for 2021, many people will tell you that none were needed. 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Standard Equipment The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is offered in five ways: P250 S, P250 SE, P250 R-Dynamic S, P250 R-Dynamic SE, and P250 R-Dynamic HSE. All are AWD models powered by a turbocharged 246-horsepower 2.0-liter engine mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Even the base P250 S is well equipped. It comes with a leather interior, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 6-speaker stereo, and automatic emergency braking. The P250 SE adds power front seats and 20-inch alloy wheels, plus premium LED headlights, a power tailgate, a blind-spot warning, and rear cross-traffic alert. The R-Dynamic P250 S and R-Dynamic P250 SE are equipped very similarly to the standard P250 S and P250 SE models. But they look quite a bit different, thanks to a unique R-Dynamic grille, revised bumpers, 2-tone seats, dark aluminum interior trim, and perforated leather on the steering wheel. Upping the luxury quotient higher in the Evoque P250 HSE are14-way power front seats, perforated Windsor leather, a gesture-controlled power tailgate, the high-def video rear mirror, and a 12-speaker audio system. The HSE also comes standard with the Driver Assist Pack, which includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot assist, and a rear cross-traffic monitor. 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque Options Most Land Rover Evoque options are contained in packages. Among the most notable: Technology Pack ($2,280 on the S, $1,280 on the SE): This includes the ClearSight digital rearview mirror and wireless smartphone charging, plus a head-up display and Pivi Pro infotainment with dual 10-inch screens. Convenience Pack ($2,010 on the S, $1,690 on the SE): In addition to an electrically adjustable steering column, it includes a gesture-controlled power tailgate and keyless entry. Driver Assist Pack ($1,950 on the S, $1,330 on the SE): Besides adaptive cruise control, this package includes blind-spot assist, a rear cross-traffic monitor, and Clear Exit Monitor. Dynamic Handling Pack ($1,080): Includes adaptive suspension damping (which is constantly being adjusted for optimal ride comfort and control), plus driver-selectable settings and red brake calipers. Cold Climate Pack ($650): With a heated windshield, heated washer jets, and a heated steering wheel, this package is your best friend in wintry climes. Notable stand-alone options on the 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque include adaptive suspension ($725), a cabin air purifier ($450), a 14-speaker Meridian sound system ($800), a WiFi-enabled data plan ($360), and massaging heated and cooled front seats covered in rich Windsor leather ($2,100). 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Engine All 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Evoques are powered by a 246-horsepower 2.0-liter engine 4-cylinder engine. It generates excellent torque, so it feels like a bigger engine than it really is. It requires premium-grade fuel, and power is sent to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. A sprint to 60 mph in the Evoque takes about seven seconds. Top speed is 143 mph. EPA fuel economy is 20 mpg city/27 mpg highway/22 mpg combined. Not great, certainly. But given its fuel tank size of 17.7 gallons, the Evoque will go about 400 miles between fill-ups.

Group Eight competitions caught on, after Paris Saint-Germain snatched a precious victory over Manchester United, England, by three goals to one in the fifth round of the UEFA Champions League groups. The victory brought Paris Saint-Germain to 9 points, equal to Manchester United and Leipzig, before the final round. United will go out to face Leipzig in Germany in the last round, while Paris Saint-Germain will host the Turkish team Istanbul Basaksehir, who officially bid farewell to the tournament. Ranking of the eighth group 1- Manchester United (won 3, lost 2, and did not tie) = 9 points 2- Paris Saint-Germain (won 3, lost 2, and did not tie) = 9 points 3- Leipzig (won 3, drew 2, and did not lose) = 9 points 4- Istanbul Basaksehir (won 1, lost 4 and did not tie) = 3 points The Manchester United team led the table, despite the equal number of points between it and Paris Saint-Germain, who finished second and Leipzig, third, due to the difference in direct confrontations between the three teams. The European Football Association (UEFA) regulations sti[CENSORED]te that if more than two teams are equal in the number of points, the group’s ranking is calculated by the difference between direct confrontations between the equal teams. In view of the results of Manchester United, we find that it has excelled in two matches over Paris Saint-Germain (2-1) in the first round of the group stage, and by five without a response to Leipzig in the second round (with a total of 6 points). As for the results of Paris Saint-Germain, the French team also beat Leipzig (1-0) in the fourth round match, and Manchester United (3-1) in the fifth round match (with a total of 6 points). As for Leipzig, they only won one match against Paris Saint-Germain in the third round, with a score of 2-1 (with a total of 3 points). The goal difference between the three teams decided the top of the group for Manchester United, followed by Paris Saint-Germain, and then Leipzig comes third. Qualify accounts Manchester United - If Manchester United wins against Leipzig, it will determine its qualification for the 16th round of the Champions League as the leader of the group. - In the event of a tie, United will also beat Leipzig by direct confrontations, and qualify for the round of 16. In the event of a loss, United will deposit the Champions League competitions and move to the European League. Paris Saint-Germain - In the event of winning over Bashikheir, the Parisian club will raise its score to point 12 and then settle the qualifying card for the round of 16 competitions. Paris Saint-Germain has another chance in the event of a tie, in which case he will raise his tally to the tenth point. - In the event of a loss (on the condition that Leipzig or United are lost), there will be a third chance also against the French capital club. Germain. Leipzig - In the event of victory over Manchester United, Leipzig will qualify for the Round of 16, and in the event that Paris draws in its match against Bashikheir, the German team will qualify as the leader of the group. - In the event that United and Leipzig draw in the last round match, the German team will wait for Paris Saint-Germain to lose the second qualifying card with the Red Devils.

We’ll be a small group this Christmas. How do we make it feel special even with scaled-down dishes? Tasha, Glasgow “I have no idea why we should censor Christmas lunch,” says Jeremy Lee, head chef at London’s legendary Quo Vadis. “Even if we can’t have the gang, we can still toast each other.” So, turkey (and other poultry) is still on the cards, Tasha – though perhaps not of the size that Scrooge carted over to Bob Cratchit’s. “Maybe don’t buy a 12-pound monster , but instead go for a slightly more slender bird,” Lee suggests, then think about what you can do with the leftovers. This doesn’t mean “slaughtering everyone with turkey curry”, but instead perhaps a turkey soup (made in much the same way as you would chicken), broths to simmer barley or noodles in, and a pie. If you want to downsize the main event, though, try duck, says Will Devlin, chef/owner of The Small Holding, Kent, and The Curlew, East Sussex. He favours organic birds from Creedy Carver in Crediton, Devon: “They’re about 1.2kg, so you get your roasted breast for Christmas dinner, then whip off the legs, confit them and serve with bubble and squeak.” The secret to a crisp bird, Devlin says, is to baste it the day before roasting: “Boil water with a little sugar and Christmassy spices [star anise and cinnamon, say], then ladle it over the duck.” Whole roast celeriac makes a cracking meat-free centrespread, no matter how many you’re feeding, says chef Helen Graham. The dish, which graces her menu at east London’s Bubala, is inspired by Palestine’s musakhan (which is usually made with chicken): “Mix equal parts cinnamon and allspice, then add olive oil and salt to make a paste. Spread over a celeriac, puncture a few times with a knife first, then roast at 200C (180C fan)/gas 6 for three hours, basting every 45 minutes, so it caramelises in its own juices.” Serve with tahini sauce (50:50 water and tahini seasoned with salt and lemon juice) and sumac onions. You could, of course, abandon tradition entirely. “I’ve always wanted to do an Indian feast for Christmas,” Lee says. “Great bowls of Gujarati-style vegetables, chana dal, mung dal and chickpeas, then I’d get every cauliflower, brussels sprout, cabbage and green under the sun and curry them.” Happily, these are all scalable dishes. Smaller celebrations give you licence to pick your favourite sides, and for Devlin that means creamed sprouts (dice smoked bacon, render it down in a pan until crisp, add white wine, then cream and finely sliced sprouts). And, Lee protests, “you can’t have a cold turkey sandwich without cold bread sauce.” Luckily, said sauce can be made for one or 20: “Measure a teacup of milk per person, one clove for a small amount and three for lots, then onion, bay, thyme and that essential scrape of nutmeg.” For afters, Lee is all about steamed pudding (again, easily halved or quartered). The undisputed king of desserts uses equal parts fresh white breadcrumbs, self-raising flour and suet, tons of treacle, plus an “absolute riot” of dried fruits and spices. Then top with a generous helping of marmalade. Well, it is Christmas.

Many countries in the world are about to start vaccination against the emerging corona virus, which appeared late last year, and then turned into a pandemic, but many questions still arise regarding the safety of "doses", and whether those who took them would suffer side effects that cause concern. The committee set up by the White House to accelerate the development of vaccines against Corona, on Tuesday, confirmed the safety of the two vaccines that were announced by "Moderna" and "Pfizer". The initiative experts confirmed that side effects were clearly observed in between 10 and 15 vaccine volunteers, but this is not a cause for concern. Moncef Al-Salawi, who heads the US President Donald Trump's initiative, said that these complications may continue for a day and a half only, meaning that it is only a very short period. People who had side effects reported redness and pain at the site of the dose, as well as heat and muscle pain. But most volunteers in clinical trials of the vaccine did not show any worrisome symptoms. In statements to "The Washington Post", Al-Sallawi confirmed that the vaccine indicators at the short level are reassuring, while the medium-term indicators have become clear, but the long-term safety of the vaccine is not yet defined. Al-Salawi's reassurance comes as the United States prepares to distribute the vaccine against the Corona virus within two weeks. It is expected that a vote will take place, Tuesday, in the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on criteria that determine who will be the first to receive the vaccine, when it is approved for emergency use. And last month, American doctors advised to intensify awareness campaigns so that people are aware of some of the side effects that may surprise them when taking the vaccine. This awareness is of great importance, because a person who exhibits these symptoms after taking the first dose of the vaccine may become afraid and refuse to take the second dose, and this matter will stop the efforts of health authorities to immunize the largest possible number of the po[CENSORED]tion against infection, in order to reach herd immunity in the future.

Microsoft has deployed a fix for a nasty Windows 10 bug which crashed PCs with Thunderbolt ports. The fix comes as part of optional update KB4586853 for Windows 10 May 2020 Update and October 2020 Update, and because this is an optional patch, you’ll have to check for it and install it yourself via Windows Update (in other words, it won’t happen automatically). How to speed up Windows 10 We solve 100 common Windows 10 problems How to uninstall a Windows 10 update KB4586853 resolves the bug whereby plugging an external NVMe SSD into a Thunderbolt port would cause a Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) crash. Although anecdotally, at least some users were seemingly seeing this crash happening outside of this scenario. At any rate, this particular gremlin is now banished, or at least it should be if KB4586853 lives up to its promises. Useful fixes Those promises also include resolving an issue where Narrator freezes, and another where the touch keyboard goes wonky when using the Mail app. Windows Mixed Reality headset users will also be pleased to hear that KB4586853 improves the level of visual quality for those running in lower resolution mode. Finally, a couple of small niggles affecting gamers have been fixed, including the Xbox Game Bar app controls failing to display on some monitors when playing DX9 games, and an “issue that prevents you from finding certain Microsoft Xbox consoles on a Windows device”. There are some useful fixes here, then, but as ever, if none of these issues are problematic for you, then there’s no reason to install an optional update (especially seeing as Microsoft’s updates can sometimes cause fresh problems in Windows 10, as well as solving existing troubles).

UK Retailer lists Samsung's latest SSD. Way back in June, I wrote an article stating that Samsung's flagship PCIe 4.0 SSD, the 980 Pro, will only come in a capacity of up to 1 TB. As it turns out, I was wrong, and I'm truly delighted about that. In a listing on via Scan, a UK e-tailer, the 980 Pro 2TB is a very welcome addition to Samsung's lineup. To date, the only PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD to have a 2TB capacity is Sabrent's Rocket 4 Plus, which the company announced two days after Samsung formally revealed its 1TB 980 Pro. The 980 Pro 2TB is listed at Scan UK for a whopping £443.99, which translates to about $590 incl tax. If it's storage for games you're after, you're better off having a look at our Best SSDs List, where you should be able to find a similar capacity drive for less than half the money. You'll have to sacrifice TLC flash and the 7 GB/s data transfer speeds, but chances are you won't notice anyway other than the not-spent cash in your wallet. Until the 980 Evo shows up, the 980 Pro is the only PCIe Gen 4 option in Samsung's lineup. Full specifications for the 2TB flavor haven't been listed yet, but the 1TB drive is happy to read at up to 7,000 MB/s and write at up to 5,000 MB/s, and it has an endurance of 600 TBW. You can find our review of the 1 TB 980 Pro here. You might ask why I'm so glad about this, and the answer is simple: I recently bought a 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus, but somehow, I managed to fill it up with games in mere weeks. With modern games taking up hundreds of Gigabytes, it's not as difficult to fill up storage space as it once was. As an example, Bungie recently had to chop out a ton of Destiny 2 content because its player base simply couldn't keep up with the massive install size, and the latest Call of Duty Modern Warfare game's install takes up near as good as as much as 250GB. That being said, I won't be jumping on the 980 Pro 2TB right away, and you probably shouldn't either. The benefits of using PCIe Gen 4 storage over Gen 3 isn't really noticeable in-game, and prices for Gen 3 storage are significantly lower. If you're a creative professional and you need a big, lightning fast drive for your editing work, the 2TB Samsung 980 Pro easily becomes a no-brainer.

Animal Crossing players can get a winter-themed wallpaper and sweater from the Nook Shopping catalog for a limited time this month. December is officially here, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can snag a couple of new seasonal items in the Switch life sim this month. Two new wintry items are now available to purchase from the Nook Shopping catalog: the Aurora wall and the Midwinter sweater. Like other seasonal items, however, these will only be available for a limited time. The Aurora wall costs 7,000 Bells and lets you gaze at a beautiful aurora borealis localized entirely in your own kitchen or other room at any time of year. The Midwinter sweater, meanwhile, costs 1,200 Bells and features a cute reindeer design. Both items can be found under the Seasonal tab in the Nook Shopping catalog and will be on sale until December 31. In addition to the new seasonal items, Nook's Cranny has begun selling festive toys ahead of Toy Day, the game's Christmas event. You'll find a different toy on display in the seasonal corner of the store each day until December 25. Toy Day itself falls on December 24, and as part of the event, you'll need to dress up like Santa and help Jingle the black-nosed reindeer deliver presents to your villagers. Now that December is underway, a variety of new fish, insects, and sea creatures have begun appearing in the game. Players with Northern Hemisphere islands can now find the oarfish, pond smelt, dung beetle, and other critters, while those with Southern Hemisphere islands can catch various sharks, beetles, and other summer creatures. You can read more in our Animal Crossing fish and bug guides. Nintendo recently rolled out Animal Crossing's big winter update, with another major update on the way in late January. Nintendo hasn't shared many details on that patch just yet, but it appears it'll add the Festivale event to the game. A line of Mario-themed furniture is also on the way in March in honor of the Super Mario series' 35th anniversary.

The Ryzen Controller Team, which isn't related to AMD, has developed the Ryzen Controller software for users to overclock or underclock their AMD Ryzen-powered laptops. It's basically the unofficial, mobile adaptation of AMD's Ryzen Master tool, but for laptops. No two laptops are made the same; therefore, there isn't a universal tool that offers users complete control over the Ryzen processor inside. Having seen the necessity, a group of crafty enthusiasts put together the Ryzen Controller software. The tool supports the majority of AMD's mobile processors, including Ryzen 2000 (Raven Ridge), Ryzen 3000 (Picasso), and even the latest Ryzen 4000 (Renoir) parts. The software opens up the door that locks away the advanced options that dictate the processor's behavior. The Ryzen Controller Team provides the program as it is, and its usage is at the user's own responsibility and risk. Ryzen Controller allows you to tweak both the processor and graphics aspects of AMD's mobile APUs. There are options to control the chip's temperature and power limits, as well as boost clock parameters. Essentially, you can overclock your processor for more performance, or even underclock it to save power (and battery) and decrease fan noise. The program also lets you save your settings as individual presets so you can switch between them on the fly, depending on what you're doing with your laptop. The good news is that Ryzen Controller isn't exclusive to Windows 10 users either. The software also supports Linux distributions, such as Debian and Red Hat.

One amateur game developer has decided to give two of the most notoriously terrible Legend of Zelda games a second chance, remaking Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon for a new audience, as reported by Eurogamer. Originally developed by Animation Magic and released on the CD-i console in 1993, Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon are considered to be the worst Legend of Zelda games in the entire series thanks to the frustrating gameplay and unintentionally terrifying animated cutscenes which eventually became bizarre memes. "I wanted to prove to myself that I could make a game," the remake's developer Dopply said in an FAQ. "It started as a joke between friends, but then I wanted to see if I could actually pull it off. I've flirted with game making for a while but never finished something. This was my chance to do that (well, over the course of four years, I guess). Over time, remastered versions of these notorious titles was something I wanted for myself as well." Dopply's remakes now feature a widescreen mode, remastered gameplay to make the experience less aggravating, subtitles, upgraded sprites, and unlockables. Why would anyone want to spend hundreds of hours over four years remaking two of the worst video games of all time? Out of genuine love for the games and the few design aspects that they actually got right, such as the detailed worlds that players could explore and the excellent soundtracks. "If you give them non-horrific control schemes and decent performance, they're fine. As a connoisseur of bad and weird games, I've most definitely played worse," Dopply said. Nintendo is usually quick to respond when it finds out about any fan remakes of its games, sending out cease and desist letters to protect its intellectual property. The Big House, known for its Smash Bros. tournaments, found this out the hard way when an online tournament for GameCube classic Super Smash Bros. Melee was hit with a legal letter from Nintendo of America over the organizers plan to use the homebrew "Slippi" mod to enable an internet connection for the GameCube-exclusive title. Dopply might also receive a cease and desist letter from Nintendo if it decides to acknowledge any ownership over the two Legend of Zelda games that aren't considered to be part of the official series.
