Genshin Impact Update 1.3 Celebrates The New Year The event is the most important of the year for the in-game universe. Genshin Impact was one of the biggest success stories of 2020, and the free-to-play action-RPG is showing no signs of slowing down this year. Beginning next month, the game's Tayvat setting will celebrate the new year with the Lantern Rite event. Starting February 3 with game version 1.3, all players will be able to participate in Lantern Rite at the Liyue Harbor. Those who participate will receive the free four-star Liyue character along with 1,600 Primogems, and you'll see special lanterns float into the sky as the first full moon of the year appears overhead. You'll have to complete several different requests from the other people celebrating to help them prepare, and this will raise the "Festive Fever" level and let you complete even more quests. One of the special additions for the event is a tower defense game called Theater Mechanicus, and it's available to play either alone or with a group. You can receive special Peace Talismans for winning that can be used in the Xiao Market on a variety of items. You'll find a variety of other small games to try out, too. It's like a carnival with social distancing. Developer miHoYo promises there are some other surprises in store during the event, too. Genshin Impact has been updated with new content since its release in 2020, adding new heroes and missions to keep players engaged. It's available now on iOS, Android, PC, PS4, and PS5 via backward compatibility, with a Nintendo Switch planned for the future. Make it the star of the show like Fayaaz Ahmed did with his awesome Raspberry Pi DJ project! The whole operation is controlled by a Raspberry Pi model 4 with 4GB of RAM. According to Ahmed, a little overclocking was necessary to get the performance quality just right. The Raspberry Pi is used in place of something more conventional like a laptop. Music can be just as easily loaded with a flash drive or beforehand on the Pi's SD card. The Pi interfaces with a controller board and displays details on a custom screen. You can recreate this project at home. Ahmed was kind enough to share his custom image on Github, which uses Mixxx 2.3, an open-source application with plenty of tools for a DJ of any experience level. Being organised is key to establishing a productive study schedule and staying on top of the increasing workload that comes with preparing for final exams. Effectively organising your study sessions will help to not only minimise procrastination but also ensure you use your precious time wisely! Here are my top five tips for helping you organise your study sessions over the upcoming busy exam period. 1. Create a study timeline Creating a study timeline will help you to effectively spread out your revision over the weeks leading up to your exams and assist you in dividing your time between each subject. Most importantly, planning your approach in advance will bring some much-needed structure into your study sessions, by giving you a sense of direction with how to use your time appropriately. To make sure that your study timeline covers all of the necessary topics, it can be useful to first make a separate study checklist. Be sure to not only write down the main topics you studied in class, but also the subtopics that will need to be revised. 2. Prioritise important tasks You will likely find that your busy schedule consists of a range of homework tasks and revision exercises that vary in their level of urgency and importance. Although you might still be ticking off your long list of ‘to-dos’ during your study sessions, prioritising your tasks is extremely important, since you definitely don’t want to be structuring your precious study time around unnecessary or unimportant tasks! Prioritising tasks is an excellent way to ensure you dedicate the majority of your time to the most important tasks that will likely have the greatest impact on your overall performance and grades. Consider using a priority matrix to assist you in re-organising your tasks and prioritising those that are both urgent and important. 3. Set time limits Your most productive studying typically occurs within the first 25 to 30 minutes of hitting the books, so try to structure your study sessions by organising them into 30-minute blocks. Setting yourself short-term goals each time you sit down to study can help to reduce procrastination and increase your motivation to get working! 5. Find your peak energy period Organising your study sessions effectively also means scheduling them during your peak-energy periods of the day. Try not to allow your study sessions to be influenced by your peers, friends or siblings, as each and every one of us tends to study best at different times of the day. Some students feel most alert and focused early in the morning, while others find that they are most productive and prefer to work in the afternoon or late at night when there are fewer distractions. Hitman 3 Progress Transfer Site Isn't Working On Launch Day, But IO Is Working On It Developer IO Interactive set up a site to allow users to carry over their progress from Hitman 1 and 2, but it's not working right now. Fans of the Hitman franchise were ready to shave their heads and don the suit of their favorite genetically-engineered assassin for the release of Hitman 3 today, but they've run into a nasty snag. The site that developer IO Interactive set up to allow players to carry over their progress from the previous games in the World of Assassination trilogy isn't working, and that's leading some fans to declare their frustration on social media. While it might seem like a matter of simple patience, it's actually a lot more unfortunate than it sounds. Since the site overwrites your Hitman 3 save as part of the transfer process, players are essentially having to choose between forgoing transferring their progress from previous games or sacrificing any they make in Hitman 3 when the carry over site begins working again. That means some fans might make the decision to treat launch day as a trial run for the game, since they know that any progress they make will soon be nuked. Hitman 3's launch was previously overshadowed by a minor controversy when IO Interactive announced that PC players wouldn't be able to play the levels from Hitman 1 and 2 within Hitman 3 without paying an additional fee. Console players were exempt from this fee. However, IO quickly backtracked, saying that PC players will be able to access the levels for free, although they're still working on the specifics. As of now, it's heavily discounted, but you should probably wait to claim it until it's made free. Given the concrete language Epic Games is using, it's more of a "when" and not an "if." Like the previous games in the World of Assassination trilogy, Hitman 3 received acclaim from critics. In GameSpot's Hitman 3 review, our critic Phil Hornshaw called the game a subtle refinement of the series' blueprint. "What's good about Hitman--its level design and the creativity, experimentation, and exploration that affords--is great in Hitman 3," he wrote. "It closes out the trilogy by brilliantly playing off everything that came before it, making use of and then subverting expectations, and rewarding players for their willingness to master the complexity of both its individual levels and the series as a whole."
