  1. Nvidia today announced its new Cryptocurrency Mining Processor (CMP) line of GPUs to "address the specific needs of Ethereum mining" and, hopefully, improve the availability of the best graphics cards in the GeForce product line in the process. The company also limited the mining performance of the soon-to-be-launched RTX 3060 cards to roughly 50% of the normal performance. It sounds like a good move, but there's a lot going on. Cryptocurrency miners previously had to purchase graphics cards originally intended for PC gaming if they wanted to maximize their operation’s profitability. This can lead to—or exacerbate—GPU shortages whenever a particular coin’s value skyrockets. Right now that coin is Ethereum. CoinDesk's figures put the cryptocurrency's price at $281 in February 2020, but at time of writing it's priced at $1,920. The scramble to join this digital gold rush has worsened the GPU shortage caused by COVID-19. Nvidia's solution? Give miners their own GPUs. The company said in today's announcement that the CMP line was developed to "help miners build the most efficient data centers while preserving GeForce RTX GPUs for gamers." The resulting Nvidia CMP HX "allows a fully open, airflow-optimized bracket and is configured to allow a greater number of GPUs to be controlled by one CPU." That airflow optimization was partly enabled by ditching unnecessary display ports. buy CMP products instead of their GeForce counterparts. The proverbial carrot, if you will. And the stick? Deliberately making gaming-focused GPUs worse at mining. Nvidia explained in today's announcement: "RTX 3060 software drivers are designed to detect specific attributes of the Ethereum cryptocurrency mining algorithm, and limit the hash rate, or cryptocurrency mining efficiency, by around 50 percent." The company didn't say whether or not it plans (we'll get to that in a moment), but Nvidia's latest RTX offerings are currently at the top of our GPU benchmarks hierarchy, and it would be nice if more of them were actually used to play games. Is this really good news, or is this just Nvidia playing both sides? To be clear, these CMP cards are still the same exact silicon that goes into GeForce and Quadro graphics cards. They don't have video outputs, cooling should be improved (for large-scale data center mining operations), and they're better tuned for efficiency. But every single GPU sold as a CMP card means one less GPU sold as a graphics card. What's perhaps worse is that while miners can still use consumer cards for mining (maybe not the upcoming RTX 3060, depending on how well Nvidia's throttling works), gamers can't use these mining cards for gaming. Nvidia does state that these GPUs "don't meet the specifications required of a GeForce GPU and, thus, don't impact the availability of GeForce GPUs to gamers." Frankly, that doesn't mean much. What does Nvidia do with a GPU that normally can't be sold as an RTX 3090? They bin it as a 3080, and GA102 chips that can't meet the 3080 requirements can end up in a future 3070 (or maybe a 3070 Ti). The same goes for the rest of the line. Make no mistake: These are GPUs that could have gone into a graphics card. Maybe not a reference 3060 Ti, 3070, 3080, or 3090, but we've seen TU104 chips in RTX 2060 cards, so anything is possible. (Maybe if the RTX cores are bad, those chips wouldn't suffice for a GeForce card, but having all RTX cores fail seems unlikely.) Next, let's look at the relative performance and specs. Note that the 90HX lists an Ethereum hash rate of just 86MH/s and a 320W TGP. After a bit of tuning, an RTX 3080 can usually do 94MH/s at 250W or less, so these cards (at least out of the box) aren't any better. That's probably because Nvidia knows running GPUs at high fan speeds and temperatures for 24/7 use leads to component failures. It's why the data center and workstation lines are normally clocks far more conservatively than the consumer line. It gets worse as you go down the line, though. 50HX only does 45MH/s at 250W — that basically matches the tuned performance of the RTX 2060 Super through RTX 2080 Super, with a TGP that's still twice as high as what we measured. It's also half the speed of an RTX 3080 while apparently still using the same GPU (10GB VRAM). Who's going to want this? 40HX at 36MH/s and 185W and 30HX at 26MH/s and 125W are equally questionable options. Of course, we don't have pricing information yet. That's going to be a critical factor. Maybe this is just a way to more easily sell GPUs to miners at inflated prices. Certainly, miners are paying exorbitant pricing on eBay right now. If the CMP cards cost more than graphics cards using the same GPU, they're not going to sell well. The driver limiting of mining performance for the upcoming RTX 3060 sounds far more interesting. Nvidia probably can't implement the same restrictions on existing GPUs without facing a class action lawsuit (not to mention miners could just use older drivers), but making future GPUs less attractive to miners should help push them to other options. Maybe that's CMP, maybe it's AMD GPUs, or maybe it's custom ASICs. Still, there's only a limited number of leading edge wafer starts available, and they're in high demand, so this isn't going to radically improve the situation with graphics card shortages any time soon. But maybe — hopefully! — it will be enough by the time Hopper rolls out in 2022/2023.

  5. The best e-commerce platforms can enable your business to set up an online store that suits your needs. There is a huge variety of e-commerce platform packages from which to choose, so building an online store has never been easier. To begin, first you'll need ecommerce web hosting, which is to say hosting that will scale up with your business without interruption. Next you'll need shopping cart software to run with your ecommerce site. This will probably include a payment gateway for credit card processing, though if you're already established and have a decent enough credit rating you could apply for merchant services to reduce transaction costs. Your ecommerce website doesn't have to be expensive to design, either, as there are plenty of ecommerce themes available. Additionally, if you also have a bricks-and-mortar store than a Point of Sale (POS) system for mobile credit card processing can be particularly desirable. Which e-commerce software is best for your business depends entirely on your specific requirements. If you're an online-only outfit, then POS integration won't be necessary, but you may get a lot of business from overseas, in which case foreign currency support would be a requirement. In this article, we’re going to highlight some of the best e-commerce platforms available right now, before moving on to consider other options you might want to explore in terms of creating your own e-commerce solution.

  7. The Pascal-based NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti is a card that hasn't been spotted in the green jungles of NVIDIA's AIB ecosystem since the past two years. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes of the smoldering fire that is the GPU market in 2021, the NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti is officially returning from the dead as NVIDIA struggles to meet overwhelming demand. NVIDIA bringing Pascal GPUs back from the dead to stave off some of the supply The news was broken by TechYesCity (via Videocardz) and highlights the demand/supply situation that is currently prevailing in the global GPU market. With cryptocurrencies booming, TSMC bottlenecked to high heaven and COVID-induced delays plaguing the supply chain, we are looking at one of the worst GPU markets in history (or the best, depending on your perspective). In fact, NVIDIA has decided to bring back a Pascal-based GPU that has been dead for over 2 years now: the GTX 1050 Ti. The GP107, 4GB affair will certainly not win any performance benchmarks but will be able to seriously supplement NVIDIA's bread and butter low-end shipments - which have been hit particularly hard. With the cost of Ampere GPUs high due to lack of materials, it makes sense for the company to shift the lower end lineups to an older architecture (at a very affordable price point). Unfortunately, however, this card, in 2021, will offer little more than just very basic gaming performance (at low settings, 1080p) and would likely only be bought by OEM builders that are looking to ship their units with the cheapest "discrete" graphics card possible. Another interesting point that Videocardz mentions is that the current DAG file of Ethereum requires over 4GB of vRAM to be able to be mined - which means that the 1050 Ti will not be targetted by scalpers or miners - making it the ideal low-end GPU. To all those waiting to get their hands on a GPU - I also have a ray of hope. Ethereum is getting ready to transition to proof of stake sometime this year and it should mark the beginning of the end of power-hungry GPU mining as the rest of the ecosystem follows suit. Unfortunately, however, we do not expect the market to improve until late 2021 (if at all) and you would best lookout for limited close-to-MSRP supply runs on large etailers like Amazon (or direct from AIBs) to secure a unit for yourself.
  8. If you're using Microsoft Teams, there's yet another new feature on the way – this one to help with file sharing on the platform. The update will make it easier for users to set permissions around the files stored in Teams, as well as those saved via other Microsoft cloud storage tools. “Streamline sharing with Microsoft Teams,” the Microsoft 365 roadmap explained. “You can now create a shareable link for any file stored in Teams and directly set the appropriate permissions. Additionally, you can also set permissions for files stored in SharePoint or OneDrive while composing a private chat or starting a channel conversation.” The new feature is currently listed as “in development” but is scheduled for release this month. Sometimes Microsoft does stagger its rollouts, however, so Teams users shouldn’t get too impatient if they are not able to access the new enhanced sharing tools quite yet.
  9. AMD's much-awaited response to NVIDIA DLSS which will be known as FidelityFX Super Resolution is expected to arrive this Spring, reports Prohardvare. The solution will make use of AI-assisted ML (Machine Learning) to help boost frame rates in games running on the latest RDNA 2 GPU powered Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards. AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution To Take On NVIDIA's DLSS This Spring, Alleges Report - Update To Radeon Boost Also Imminent AMD gave an initial glimpse of its DLSS competitor, dubbed FidelityFX Super Resolution, during the Radeon RX 6000 series launch. At the time, AMD claimed that its solution was under development and that they were collaborating with game developers for the implementation of the technology within their games. Since then, we have got little to no information while at the same time NVIDIA has tweaked their DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) intensely. NVIDIA got the head start with its AI-based supersampling technology all the way back in 2018 when Turing based GeForce RTX 20 series was introduced. DLSS 1.0 had a pretty rough start & there weren't plenty of games that used the feature and while users got to see some impressive performance gains, those also came at a loss of image quality which was often too blurry when compared to playing at native resolution with standard AA methods. That changed over time and DLSS 2.0 showed the true form of the feature with the still impressive gains while retaining almost similar image quality as the native resolution. Even as of now, the feature has seen major updates with The Medium and Cyberpunk 2077 being the latest highlight titles and enablement of gaming at 8K on a single graphics card. The difference that DLSS makes put the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards a league ahead of AMD's Radeon RX 6000 series. But it looks like AMD's solution is now much close to its official launch with the company planning to release a major Adrenaline Radeon driver release around March 2021 which would include two major updates. The first is obviously the addition of FiedlityFX Super Resolution while the second is an update to Radeon Boost. The source reports that Infinity Cache would also be quite beneficial for FidelityFX Super Resolution while the technology can be enabled from within the game where it's supported, just like DLSS. On the other hand, the new AMD Radeon Boost feature will help solve some issues related to dynamic scaling where the feature would scale the games to a lower resolution to boost performance even when there's not a lot of action involved. So an update would help solve some of the issues on that end too. Overall, it looks like we are due for a major Radeon Software release soon so stay tuned for more info.
  10. Po[CENSORED]r creators on breakout social media platform TikTok are jumping on the stock market bandwagon, exposing millions of viewers to misleading financial advice, new analysis suggests. An investigation into more than 1,000 stock-related TikTok videos by crypto exchange Paxful found that 14% failed to offer any sort of disclaimer that might warn viewers of the risks. These videos had a combined 28.4 million views and 3.6 million likes. Much of the offending content advised followers to purchase specific assets, as opposed to a broader asset class or genre, and were often guilty of implying guaranteed profit or suggesting a specific purchase volume. 11. For some odd reason, ASRock's flagship Taichi always features gears in its design. Well, that hasn't changed for this generation of the Z590 Taichi, but they put a spin on it, pun intended. This time around the Taichi features a spinning gear on the I/O cover. It's not every day we see a motherboard manufacturer implement moving parts on a motherboard. ASRock's Rotating Gear On The Z590 Taichi Required Some Out Of The Box Developing Although the gear serves no functional purpose, it is a design feature that sits at the top of my list of most unique features. ASRock took an unconventional approach to make their motherboard look different and didn't just go with adding RGB. On top of that, the rotational speed of the gear can be controlled with the motherboard firmware. The Z590 PCH also features a gear on the I/O cover as well but it has yet to be seen if that gear will rotate. In the video below, XFastest demonstrated the X590 Taichi and the rotating gear On top of having a unique design, it also features some upgrades from the Z490 Taichi. The most significant change is a modification to the power delivery. The Z490 lost one power phase at 14 now down from 15, but to compensate for that the new power chokes are rated for 90A vs the 60A of the previous generation totaling a power delivery of 1260A vs 900A seen on the Z490 Taichi. The VRM features active cooling with a small MOS fan. Other than that, there aren't any other significant upgrades, but it does feature PCIe 4.0 M.2 ports and PCIe x16 expansion slots.
  12. A major issue that was pointed out by many about Nvidia's RTX 3000 series mobile processors were the lack of specifications given by laptop manufacturers over the speeds and TGP of the graphics card inside. This year, Nvidia allowed partners to modify the GPUs but did not require them to specify the clock speeds and TGP which makes it difficult for consumers to know exactly what they are getting. Recently, ASUS has followed XMG in detailing the specifications on their website as well as on etailers per the request of Tweakers. ASUS' Released Specifications Show That The Cards Have Less Power Compared To Competitors The most disappointing laptops would be the ROG Strix Scar 15 and 17. Both feature up to an RTX 3080, but the max TGP is only 115W. Compared to the rest of the market, it's disappointing because other models feature higher TGPs. The ROG Flow X13 is arguably one of the best innovations featuring the XG Mobile docking station that comes equipped with an RTX 3080 with a TGP of 150W. The Flow itself will feature a GTX 1650 Max-Q GPU with a TGP of 35W, but that can be overlooked with the pairing of the XG Mobile. MSI has revealed its specifications but has not updated its product listing to include the specifications. The top-end models, the GP76 and GE76, both feature RTX 3080s with a max TGP of 150W, so it is disappointing to see that ASUS' highest TGP RTX 3080 is 115W (excluding the XG Mobile because it is a docking station, so its an eGPU and not actually a laptop). ASUS can do better and should be doing better. It is great to see that ASUS is working to be more transparent and setting an example but at the same time, it is disappointing to see them not including the most powerful variants in their top-end models.
  13. We've collected together the best free Android apps you can download today, so you can find exactly what you need without trawling through the Google Play Store. It has been over 12 years since Android was first launched by Google, and back then it was hard to imagine the sheer number of apps we'd have today. There are apps for everything, and many of them are completely free, meaning you're just a few downloads away from supercharging your smartphone at no extra cost. Admittedly, the huge quantity of apps doesn't mean they're all quality - far from it in fact, and finding the good ones can be tough. There are tools and techniques to help, with various lists in the Play Store providing you with Editor's Picks across a range of categories, new releases and even apps that are specifically recommended for you based on your previous installs. You can also hunt out apps that are similar to your favorites by searching for an app you have and seeing what else comes up. And checking out user reviews and ratings can save you from downloading a dud of an app. But even with all that, the sheer number of apps on Google Play means many of the best can often get lost, while weaker ones sometimes rise to the top. So to make sure you never install a duff app here's our selection of the best you should install right now - each one carefully chosen to ensure you'll have a whole suite of fun, engaging and, dammit, useful apps on your phone or tablet. We've sorted them into categories so you can more easily find what you're looking for. But make sure to check back every few weeks for out latest app selection, which you'll find below.
  14. There's a huge choice in TV and movie streaming services right now, so whether you’re watching on a big screen or a smaller screen like a smartphone or tablet, you’re never short of something to watch. However, each of these streaming services has its own app which can leave you scrolling endlessly trying to find the one you’re after. What if there was an app that could bring all your favorite streaming services together and create a one-stop-shop, so you can binge-watch till your heart’s content? This is where the Apple TV app comes in. The app, which replaced the Video app on iPhones and iPads in 2016, is more than just the home of the Apple TV+ streaming service. It brings together a range of different streaming services as well as the ability to buy and rent movies and TV shows from the iTunes store, in one place. Here’s everything you need to What can I watch through the Apple TV app? As well as Apple TV+, a number of different streaming services are also available through the app too. They’re split into two different types. Apple TV channels are subscription services that have partnered with Apple so they can be watched directly in the TV app. You can also download shows from these channels to watch in the app when there’s no internet access.
