  7. What is it: For 2018 Lexus added the seemingly necessary third row to the formerly two-row RX, calling it the RX 350L. This all-wheel-drive tester is well-equipped with leather seats and all the standard Lexus accoutrement (screens, seat heat, wood accents) and uses the company’s familiar 3.5-liter V6. It delivers 295 hp and 268 lb-ft with an eight-speed transmission.
  8. A computer built to mimic the brain's neural networks produces similar results to that of the best brain-simulation supercomputer software currently used for neural-signaling research. Tested for accuracy, speed and energy efficiency, this custom-built computer named SpiNNaker, has the potential to overcome the speed and power consumption problems of conventional supercomputers, with the aim of advancing our knowledge of neural processing in the brain, including learning and disorders such as epilepsy and Alzheimer's disease.
  9. G.SKILL International Enterprise Co., Ltd., the world’s leading manufacturer of extreme performance memory and gaming peripherals, is excited to announce two world-class extreme speed high capacity memory kits – DDR4-4266 64GB (8x8GB) and DDR4-4000 128GB (8x16GB) for the latest Intel Core X-series processors and X299 motherboards. Both kits are equipped with high performance Samsung B-die ICs and are validated on the ASUS PRIME X299-DELUXE II motherboard with the Intel Core i9-9920X and Core i7-9800X processors, respectively. G.Skill Adds Quad Channel 8x8GB and 8x16GB Kits at 4000MHz and Above To Its Line-Up Dedicated to developing faster overclocking memory, G.Skill is bringing 128GB capacity kits to the speed class of DDR4-4000, while maintaining a pretty decent latency of CL19-19-19-39 CAS and 1.35V low voltage. It is really good considering the capacity of the kit and is aimed at the most hard core enthusiasts building a super performance computer without compromising on performance or capacity. This kit will join the G.Skill Trident Z RGB family and has been validated on the ASUS PRIME X299-DELUXE II motherboard and with the latest Intel Core i7-7820X processor. 10. It started with a simple two cases back in 2000. Now experts predict an alarming 400 cases of the terrifying buruli ulcer this year. The mysterious flesh-eating bug is becoming more severe as incidents spread across Victoria. Now experts warn it is only a matter of time before it moves interstate and targets other parts of the country. The infection starts as a painless sore than can initially be mistaken as an insect bite but can slowly progress into a destructive skin ulcer. Doctors say there is an “epidemic” of the infection across Victoria’s Bellarine and Mornington Peninsulas. Dr Daniel O’Brien, who treats the infection, said the situation had worsened. “This is by far and away the worst outbreak we’ve ever seen in Australia,” he told A Current Affair on Wednesday night. “It’s rapidly increasing, it’s becoming more severe. “It’s a problem that’s increasing quite alarmingly. In some people they’re getting much more aggressive and damaging infections.” Doctors are still struggling to understand how the bug spreads and how to stop it. They are examining links with possum faeces and mosquitoes. Former Olympian Neil Hewitt, 80, has had 15 operations since contracting the ulcer while gardening in the backyard. At one point the pain got so bad he asked doctors to give him a pill and put him to sleep, or at the very least take his arm off. Mr Hewitt spent more than three months in hospital after the bug caused the flesh on his arm to “rot away”. “It ate the flesh away. It’s changed my life,” he told the Mornington Peninsula Leader. Jett, 12, is learning to walk again after the ulcer changed his family’s life. “I remember the moment the doctor came out of surgery … he said there’s a real chance if we don’t find out what this is he will lose his leg,” his mum Arna-Leigh told A Current Affair. “I remember those words. It was really terrifying.” Bianca Ludowyke, a 31-year-old mother of two from Tootgarook on the Mornington Peninsula, was initially misdiagnosed with an infected spider bite in May. “The hospital didn’t know what was going on,” she told The Australian. “I asked them to test it for Buruli ulcer but they wouldn’t. I was told to go away and come back in a few months if it hadn’t healed. “With Isla, we were referred straight away to Dr O’Brien and got the treatment started early, so it never became a huge, open wound like mine. It’s now just a little mark on her hand.”
  11. The man trying to broker peace in Yemen said he is hopeful a new round of talks between the warring sides will begin within weeks provided a lull in fighting for a key port city holds. Martin Griffiths, the United Nations special envoy for Yemen, revealed in an interview he has overcome a hurdle that doomed a previous attempt to bring the different factions together. He told Sky News he secured an agreement for a delegation of Houthi rebels to attend a meeting in Sweden without fear of being prevented from returning to Yemen by a coalition - led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates - they are fighting. Concern over travel had been a factor stopping the Houthis from taking part in talks in Geneva in September. The envoy, who is due to address the United Nations Security Council in New York on Friday about the crisis in Yemen, said he believes it is possible to find a political solution to the near-four-year civil war that has killed thousands and created the world's worst humanitarian crisis. Children are in particular danger, malnourished and threatened by disease.
  12. Skoda has revealed the new Kodiaq GT, the brand’s first SUV-coupé that will serve as its flagship model in China. The GT is based on the existing five-door Kodiaq, which is already built in China for the domestic market alongside the Kamiq and Karoq SUVs. Although it shares its front end with the regular Kodiaq, the GT loses the third-row seating option and has a sloping roofline that leads to a squat rear end The Kodiaq GT, which was revealed at this week's Guangzhou motor show, will be built and – for now – exclusively sold in China. It will be in dealerships there before the end of the year, manufactured as part of a joint venture between local car maker SAIC and Skoda Matching a design trend that will be seen on the upcoming Scala family hatchback, the Kodiaq GT features the Skoda name in letters on the bootlid, rather than the firm’s logo. The Kodiaq GT will be offered with a choice of 184bhp and 217bhp 2.0-litre turbo petrol engines, with front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive respectively. The more powerful engine also features a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. While the Kodiaq GT is currently only intended for the Chinese market, the firm is understood to be keen to offer it elsewhere following a positive reception. However, Skoda is currently running at production capacity in Europe and has nowhere to build it, delaying a potential introduction. Previously released shots of the interior can be seen to share much with the regular Kodiaq, but with a sportier seat design to reflect a more athletic identity. OUR VERDICT Skoda Kodiaq Skoda Kodiaq Skoda jumps into the SUV market with both feet — and seven seats, but can the Kodiaq win the people's hearts in an already congested SUV market?
