Honda’s onslaught of new products will continue in January with the debut of the 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan at the Detroit auto show. The fifth-generation Odyssey that will debut in Detroit promises redesigned styling, powertrain updates and undisclosed “innovative features” -- remember this is the brand that first put a shop-vac in the cargo area. The basics of the Odyssey are expected to be the same: It will use a 3.5-liter V-6 engine and ride on Honda’s light-truck platform that underpins the Pilot large crossover and the Ridgeline midsize truck. Current Odyssey models are front-wheel drive only, though all-wheel drive could be added for the new generation. As consumer demand crossovers grows, retail minivan sales slipped in 2016. Segment sales were up 11 percent overall through November to 516,229, but those gains were entirely thanks to the Dodge Grand Caravan, Kia Sedona and Nissan Quest, which relied heavily on fleet sales. Sales of the outgoing Odyssey were down 4.7 percent through November, with 110,435 units sold. The 2018 Odyssey is expected to go on sale by next summer. When it does, it will face considerable competition from Chrysler’s Pacifica minivan, a rare bright spot in Chrysler’s lineup. An updated Toyota Sienna minivan is also expected to go on sale sometime in 2017.

Unveiled last summer at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Mercedes-AMG GT-R is the brand's track-day special sports car, set to go up against the likes of the F-Type SVR, Audi R8 and Porsche 911 Turbo at your nearest private motorsports country club. A double-wishbone coil-over suspension with forged aluminum arms and AMG's Ride Control active damping does its best to keep things planted; it's aided by a nine-setting AMG traction control system derived from the AMG GT3 racer. Supplemental electric rear-wheel steering works with the fronts to increase maneuverability: Below 62 mph, the rear wheels can turn up to 1.5 degrees opposite the fronts to help guide the car around corners; from 62-198 mph (yes, you read that right) the wheels turn in the same direction as the fronts, making passing easier.

Exploring the expansive, frozen Alps of Steep by means of snowboarding, skis, paragliding, or wingsuit is to tour one of the most diverse and visually interesting open worlds I’ve ever gotten lost in - especially in a sports game. Not all of the featured activities are equally fun, and I was disappointed in the lack of statistical customization, but the array of challenges and their satisfying physics that strike a nice balance between realistic and arcadey rarely left me without something new and exciting to try. Steep is based around a “Play Your Way” philosophy that, in the short term, works well. You can pick from skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, and wingsuit flying (which are all distinct except that snowboarding and skiing share the same courses) and progress through a number of different skill areas geared toward different playstyles. There are rewards for narrowly avoiding obstacles, pulling off complex tricks, exploration, riding creative routes down mountainsides, and even crashing into things or falling on your face and breaking every bone in your body in spectacular fashion. Dozens of people are feared dead after a fire broke out during a rave at a converted warehouse in Oakland, California. Authorities have confirmed nine deaths but say they are preparing for the death toll to rise as high as 40. Oakland fire chief Teresa Deloche-Reed said between 50 and 100 people were thought to have been inside the venue. The fire started at 23:30 local time on Friday (07:30 GMT Saturday), police said. The venue was hosting a concert by electronic group Golden Donna, along with six other acts, which was announced on Facebook earlier in the day. Videos posted on social media by the fire department showed a massive flames burning through the roof of the building.

However, zoom out from the gorefest a bit and you’ll see Killing Floor 2 is also an online shooter with only two modes, two boss battles, and some unnecessary time sinks. It’s not a buffet though; it’s comfort food, meant to be eaten again and again and again. With that mindset clearly front and center for developer Tripwire, Killing Floor 2 delights on the back of its great gameplay. Killing Floor’s 10 classes, awkwardly referred to in-game as “perks,” are distinct and fun to play, and putting together a good team has a huge impact on whether you’ll succeed. The first class to hook me was the Field Medic, which passively gains armor and movement speed, wields weapons with secondary-fire healing darts, and gains the ability to self heal while healing others. I felt incredibly strong and useful, as I did with each class given enough time to unlock their abilities.
