Rust is a survival game created by Facepunch Studios, the creators of Garry’s Mod. The inspiration of the game comes from multiple games of the survival genre. Its official launch took place on February 8, 20182, although it was in early access since 2013.
Game mode
Players must collect resources to survive and manufacture objects within the game, with the exception of the initial equipment with which the player starts, which includes a rock and a torch (Occasionally on some servers Doors are awarded). Players collect resources such as cloth, food and wood, which can be obtained by cutting trees or hunting animals. The player starts with an initial list of manufacturing objects, such as weapons, clothing and building materials, and as he progresses in the game he can get more advanced plans or objects to build objects such as doors. These can be found in boxes (shaped like a cube), dead characters (or almost) or by investigating objects found in the bases of other players. Some servers include modifications that provide elements to the player to make the start easier, even if you die later. As you move forward, you can get components with which you can create new objects that require them
During the gameplay, there are many challenges that the player can face, such as hunger, hypothermia, attacks from wild animals (mostly bears and wolves) (After the last update there are Chihuahuas), or radiation exposure of several radioactive areas through of the island. Despite the radiation, these areas contain the only man-made buildings at the beginning of the game and contain valuable items such as firearms and components, and therefore offer an incentive to the player to risk acquiring these things. Since the game is exclusively multiplayer, the attacks of other players are also another challenge always present. Navigation can be complicated in Siege. Without a map of the game, new players must search for buildings and be guided by the sun in order to locate themselves and get their belongings. Some maps have been created by third parties, 3 even rooms, although no map has been published by Facepunch until February.
A persistent concept in Siege is to form factions (or clans) with other players. These factions usually create occupied homes for their members, grant objects, supplies and participate in organized looting. These looting (also called "raids" or "raideos" (the latter is a Spanish-speaking adaptation) occur when a group of organized players coordinates an attack on another faction or a group of players to steal their supplies and destroy their homes.
Developing
The development originally emerged as a clone of DayZ due to the frustration of the developers about the lack of realism of this. Over time, updates were added, including animals, hunting, manufacturing and armor. Since then the game has adopted elements of Minecraft in addition to DayZ, such as the player vs. player aspect of DayZ and the manufacture and construction of Minecraft.
