  3. Lenovo Legion Go S is said to be in the works, and the company inadvertently confirmed the moniker of the purported handheld gaming console last month. Now, renders of the device have been leaked by a publication, giving us a good look at its design. The Legion Go S could arrive with a simpler design that somewhat resembles the Asus ROG Ally. The device is expected to arrive with an AMD Rembrandt processor and could arrive as a more affordable version of the Legion Go model that was launched by the company last year. Lenovo Legion Go S Design (Leaked) An image of the Lenovo Legion Go S published by Windows Central reveals the design of the purported device, which is seen from the front, back, and top. Unlike the Legion Go model, it appears that the upcoming product will not be equipped with detachable controllers, and looks similar to the Asus ROG Ally. The display on the Lenovo Legion Go S could be smaller than that of its predecessor, if the leaked image of the device is any indication. It Is shown to feature ABXY buttons, two joysticks, and a D-pad. However, the Legion Go's touchpad is nowhere in sight, and the publication states that it will be replaced by a smaller input tool that resembles Lenovo's TrackPoint cursor. Meanwhile, the top view of the Lenovo Legion Go S suggests that it will be equipped with two USB Type-C ports, like the company's more expensive model. The menu and view keys are seen at the top in the leaked image. The rear panel of the handheld gaming console is shown to feature vents on the left and right side. The image also suggests that the Legion Go S won't feature a stand, unlike the company's existing device. We also see RGB lights under both joysticks on the front, as well as what appear to be two small speakers. According to the report, the Lenovo Legion Go S could be launched between $399 (roughly Rs. 35,500) and $449 (roughly Rs. 39,900). This is considerably lower that the price of the Legion Go that was launched by the company last year with a EUR 799 (roughly Rs. 71,100) price tag. The Legion Go arrived in India in June, priced at Rs. 89,990. Link: https://www.gadgets360.com/games/news/lenovo-legion-go-s-design-renders-price-leak-report-7169649#pfrom=home-po[CENSORED]r
  4. If you are old enough to remember the mysteries of the internet in the late 90s, you may recall the fun "I'm Feeling Lucky" button for Google's search engine that would take you directly to the first result of a search rather than the usual list. Three decades and a million sponsored links later, Google is looking to augment its Gemini AI assistant with a feature similar to one discovered in as-yet unreleased code by Android Authority. This time, the button will be a way of producing a random prompt. Let fate decide what you should discuss with Gemini. Need a reminder to take your dry cleaning in? How about coming up with gift ideas for the holidays? All this and more will be unpredictably submitted to Gemini when you click on the I'm Feeling Lucky button. The button won't be alone under the text box. Gemini will offer a couple of other random suggestions each time you start a conversation, with the lucky button as a permanent fixture alongside them. Gemini actually had random suggestions of ideas on its homepage when it first debuted, but Google removed them a little while ago to streamline the app's look. The new look is minimalist but still offers random ideas. It's not too different from the suggestions for conversation topics you see when opening an AI chatbot like ChatGPT or Perplexity. The difference is that you don't know what you'll get when you click on it. The button also has some nostalgia appeal thanks to its distinguished lineage in search engine history. Lucky Gemini Random prompts and the lucky button are about more than rosy memories of trusting the first search result to be what you wanted. Like its earlier iteration, the button and its accompanying random prompts help demonstrate what Gemini can do. Google wants people to use Gemini for everything. That's hard to sell if people don't know the useful or just fun ways to use the AI chatbot. Reintroducing suggestions and giving them a twist with the lucky button helps Google educate users about Gemini and AI as a whole. It might be small in scale and somewhat piecemeal, but it could add up to plenty of loyal customers or positive word of mouth around Gemini. Playing with random prompts could lead to users engaging with plenty of other upcoming Gemini features and abilities hinted at in future code. Google is planning a lot of upgrades to Gemini, from handling large amounts of code to a better memory for what you like, and even a role as a tour guide in your car. 5. The 3D scanner uses a 75 Hz display powered by an 5th Gen Intel CPU and an unspecified AMD R9 200 Series GPU Ever wonder what those PCs used as 3D dental scanners at your local dental clinic are really capable of? Three days ago, Redditor u/AfternoonPutrid8558 on the r/PCMasterRace subreddit shared a story and a set of photographs in which he tested this exact question out, thanks to being granted brief after-hours access to his father's dental clinic. Limited time and free storage were the biggest limiting factors at play here, with a 100 megabits per second download speed, making some larger game installs unfeasible within the time window. In any case, u/AfternoonPutrid8558 did seem to have plenty of time to capture the unique characteristics of this 3D dental scanner. The system uses a Haswell-E 5th Gen Intel Core i7-5720K with an MSI Raider X99 motherboard, running at 3.3 GHz with 32GB of DDR4-2999 RAM. Those are old specifications—the CPU and platform are from 2014, just after DDR4 was initially adopted—but they were still surprisingly adequate for gaming until around the PS4 era. Where newer games have become much more strictly demanding on CPU and GPU requirements, the relatively low power of mid-gen PS360 and PS4/XB1 kept many older PC architectures competitive in multi-platform titles much longer than if games pushed the limits with every CPU/GPU refresh cycle. While we don't know what exact GPU is used within this 3D dental scanner, the system information at least tells us it's an AMD Radeon R9 200 series GPU. Perhaps a Radeon R9 270X, 280X, or 290X? While these cards don't compare to AMD's present-day RDNA GPU fare or even old budget staples like the RX 580, they're still more than enough for indie games and older, less demanding titles. u/AfternoonPutrid8558 tested these specifications in two games: a classic multiplayer shooter released in 2004, Counter-Strike: Source, and an underwater survival game released in 2014, Subnautica. CS:S ran at a whopping 600-700 FPS, leveraging the onboard CPU near-perfectly, while Subnautica still turned around a respectable 60 FPS, being about ten years newer but still targeted at a wide range of GPU specs. u/AfternoonPutrid8558 also notes that Subnautica's sea moth controls feel "surprisingly elegant" when done with the large trackball mouse used by the 3D dental scanner. However, we imagine those controls would feel much less elegant in a multiplayer match of Counter-Strike, 600 FPS or not. Link: https://www.tomshardware.com/video-games/pc-gaming/game-played-on-a-3d-dental-scanner-with-an-old-intel-cpu-and-amd-gpu-up-to-700-fps-on-counter-strike-source
  6. The system requirements for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle have just dropped, and in the words of ever-prescient Short Round: "Okey dokey, Dr Jones, hold on to your potatoes!" The requirements follow the recent trend of requiring a metric heap-load of storage space, this time meaning 120 of your finest gigabytes—and do you see why we always recommend at least a 2 TB SSD for your builds? But storage isn't the only thing that'll make you want to clutch your various starches, because the road gets quite bumpy when you move up past the minimum requirements. The recommended requirements list an RTX 3080 Ti or RX 7700 XT to hit a target 60 fps on high settings. Oof—looks like I'm out of the running using what the game's making now making me think might be an ageing RTX 3060 Ti. Part of the reason why these requirements are so high, I'm sure, is because, for the first time ever for a mainstream title, hardware ray tracing is required across the board. That's why the minimum specs start with the RTX 2060 Super and RX 6600 XT: graphics cards from previous generations don't have ray tracing cores. Sucks to be a GTX 1080 Ti owner, I guess? This requirement will presumably mean some limited form of ray tracing across every setting segment, be it low or ultra-high. Which isn't to say that such a limited form of RT is all you can get, because the game boasts "Full Ray Tracing", ie, path tracing. As Nvidia explains: "Full Ray Tracing is a demanding but highly accurate way to render light and its effect on a scene, used by visual effects artists to create film and TV graphics that are indistinguishable from reality." This is similar to what we find in Black Myth: Wukong, and with Indiana Jones this creates for some seriously beefy upper-end requirements. Bethesda separates its Full Ray Tracing requirements from its standard ones, and the minimum requirements for the former are a Core i7 10700K and RTX 4070. And to run the game on Ultra settings with Full Ray Tracing? Yep, that's an RTX 4090 that Bethesda recommends. Oh, and an Intel Core i7 13900K, just for good measure. I don't know what's harder to swallow, those path traced requirements or a side of monkey brains. At least the minimum requirements list only 16 GB RAM, I suppose, but that's about the only light touch in all these specifications. Link: https://www.pcgamer.com/hardware/hold-on-to-your-potatoes-because-indiana-jones-and-the-great-circles-system-requirements-demand-ray-tracing-you-cant-disable-and-an-rtx-4090-for-highest-settings/

  8. Is Donald Trump serious about tariffs? This has been the question hanging over not just world markets but the whole world of economics. The po[CENSORED]r wisdom had become that he wasn’t really that serious, and the key bit of evidence for that was his nomination of hedge fund investor Scott Bessent as his Treasury Secretary, someone seen as a moderate when it came to tariffs compared with others whose names were floated for the role. The answer overnight, though, was pretty brutal. Yes, he is serious, and in the most unexpected way. By choosing to target Mexico and Canada as well as China, he is confirming threats made on the campaign trail that appeared the most fanciful. For starters he is willing to blow up the Mexico-Canada-America trade deal that he signed in his first term on day one of his second term. What does a Trump free trade deal even mean now, if the new White House is willing to put tariffs on your country anyway? And importantly, the rationale for these moves is not mainly or even much about trade or economic policy. These tariffs are about getting Mexico, Canada and China to alter their policies on crackdowns over migration and illicit drugs. Trump is using tariffs as a weapon of diplomacy, even coercion, on topics entirely unrelated to global trade. Are the leaders of G20 nations with their own domestic audiences really going to roll over in order to give the new president a win? They could choose to wait out the inevitable impact of Trump applying a 25% increase on the cost of two-fifths of US imports on US consumers and inflation. The cost of washing machines in the US rose 12% or by about $86, after Trump hit foreign-made machines with a 50% tariff during his first term. Such increases, no matter how modest, run counter to Trump's promises during the campaign to bring down the cost of living. But though Americans might be more sensitive to price rises now than they were in 2018, the political appetite for tariffs should not be underestimated. Joe Biden criticised the tariffs Trump put in place on Chinese imports during his first term. But once in office himself, President Biden left the measures in place, even expanding them in targeted ways. What is also clear is that Trump's selection of Bessent as Treasury Secretary will not temper the tariff push. Amid the battle for his nomination he went out of his way to acknowledge the power of tariffs as a tool that had been pioneered by Alexander Hamilton himself, the first ever US Treasury Secretary. But earlier this year he had also suggested that while tariffs might be used tactically, the main tool for the US rejuvenation of manufacturing would be a cheaper dollar. Europe and the UK have been spared for now. But it is important to reiterate that these moves are not even the real bulk of the tariff policy outlined by Trump. He wants to fundamentally change the global economic map, and reduce China and Europe’s trade surplus with the US, which he views as “ripping off America”. The world is far more complicated now, however, than these binary economic relationships. The US is undoubtedly powerful enough to start rebalancing world trade. Push things too far though, especially with G7 and G20 allies, and the US might find itself rather too isolated. Link: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0k808xdp18o
  9. The “shocking” number of animals being dumped in a “neglectful state” in the East of England during the winter months has been revealed by the RSPCA. In the past three years, the amount of animals abandoned in England and Wales increased by 51%, according to the animal welfare charity. The new figures, released as part of its Join The Christmas Rescue campaign, show Essex had 582 cases in 2023 compared to 414 in 2021 - up 41%. There was also an increase of 44% in Bedfordshire, with incidents rising from 142 to 205. RSPCA bosses said: “Too many animals are suffering behind closed doors.” Reports of animals being abandoned also increased elsewhere in the East of England, with Northamptonshire recording a 22% rise and Buckinghamshire 14%. Hertfordshire saw cases go up by 12%, Cambridgeshire 7% and Suffolk 15%, while Norfolk experienced a 1% rise in animal abandonments. Across England and Wales, a total of 20,999 reports were made to the RSPCA’s emergency line in 2023, while 19,067 have already been reported this year. One of these animals was Dogue de Bordeaux Roxy, who was found “painfully skinny” huddled under a hedge in a garden in Boxted, having been abandoned in April. The three-year-old was rescued by residents who took her to a vet before they contacted the RSPCA due to her neglectful state. She weighed just 29kg (64lb), while a healthy female dog of the same breed should weigh up to 54kg (120lb) more than that. She has since been rehomed. 'Heartbreaking' RSPCA inspector Nicky Thorne, who launched an investigation, said: “You could see all of her bones and every single rib. She was just skin and bone.” The RSPCA also feel fears the crisis could worsen during the winter months as more people struggle with the increase in expenditure around Christmas time. RSPCA chief inspector Ian Briggs said: “We are seeing a shocking rise in the number of calls reporting pet abandonment to our emergency line during winter. “Sadly, we expect the trend will continue as more pet owners face financial hardship at this time of year more than any other." 10. The 2024 Tesla Model 3 receives some welcome updates while retaining the traits that make it a great EV. It’s fun to drive, fuel-efficient and cargo-friendly, but its minimalist cabin and complex infotainment setup might not be for everyone. The 2024 Tesla Model 3's #1 ranking is based on its score within the Luxury Electric Cars category. Currently the Tesla Model 3 has a score of 9.2 out of 10, which is based on our evaluation of 34 pieces of research and data elements using various sources. Our rating is established through qualitative research and analysis of Tesla Model 3 reviews, as well as hard data points that speak to the Model 3’s safety, reliability, fuel economy and cargo capacity. This rating is continually updated based on the latest information that comes in from our research and data sources. The 2024 Tesla Model 3 is genuinely fun to drive and handles confidently. However, the ride is firm, and while the steering is well-weighted, you don't get much feedback. The regenerative brakes are smooth and strong. The rear-wheel-drive base model provides the most balanced and enjoyable handling, as the dual-motor all-wheel-drive models tend to understeer a bit more. Also, you'll likely feel plenty of vibration on rough or broken pavement in models with the larger wheels. The Model 3 offers three powertrain configurations, but Tesla doesn’t disclose all of their exact specifications. The base model uses a single electric motor driving the rear wheels and a roughly 50.4-kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LiFP) battery pack. The Long Range and Performance models use 75-kWh Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminum (NCA) battery packs, and each have a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration. The standard Model 3 Pro can go from zero to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, which isn’t slow, but the dual-motor variants are fast indeed. The Long Range can hustle to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds and the Model 3 Performance in a scorching 3.1 seconds, which no other vehicle at this price can match. Top speeds vary by trim and range from 125 to 162 mph. Link: https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/tesla/model-3
  11. Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario will be out for "months, not weeks" with an ankle injury, Ange Postecoglou has confirmed. Vicario had surgery after playing 60 minutes with a broken ankle against Manchester City on Saturday. The 28-year-old needed treatment in the first half following a collision with City winger Savinho, but went on to play the full game as Tottenham won 4-0. "We saw he picked up an injury during the game and he was sore at half-time, but there was no doubt about him continuing," Spurs boss Postecoglou said. "It is a testament to him as a person. He is as tough as nails, as tough as they come. "It's a blow but we've dealt with setbacks before and we'll deal with this one." The Italy keeper has missed just four matches since joining from Empoli in June 2023 - none of them in the Premier League. "The fact he played at that level for 60-odd minutes with a fractured ankle was quite outstanding," Postecoglou added. "Irrespective of the injury, it was a really outstanding performance. Taking that into context, it's certainly one for the record books at this club in terms of outstanding performances." Fraser Forster, 36, has deputised on all four occasions that Vicario has been absent, including a Carabao Cup win at Coventry in September and Europa League ties against AZ Alkmaar and Galatasaray. Postecoglou gave his backing to Forster and ruled out signing a free agent to fill in for Vicario. He also said the injury "doesn't change our plans" for the January transfer window. "That's not going to happen - I don't think signing a free agent now is going to help us," Postecoglou added. "Fraser, I've known for a long time. He's such a strong character in the group and always ready to play." Spurs, who are fifth in the Premier League, host Roma in the Europa League on Thursday before facing Fulham on Sunday. 12. A property in Kent which police have linked to persistent antisocial behaviour and disorder has been issued with a closure order. Complaints made about the address in Lawrance Square, in Northfleet, have been over issues including criminal damage, threatening behaviour and intimidation, drug misuse, and noise, officers said. Kent Police was granted a three-month order on Friday against any unauthorised person entering the property. Officers ensured the local authority-owned property was empty and have now secured it. Sgt Steve Cole said: "Residents and visitors to the area have suffered anti-social behaviour and incidents of disorder involving those using this premises for some time. "Any other people who choose to pursue an anti-social and often criminal lifestyle can expect similar consequences." Link:https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5yr44new7go
  13. Seoul has recorded its heaviest November snowfall since records began over a century ago in 1907. The South Korean capital was covered with at least 16 cm of snow on Wednesday - beating the city's previous record of 12.4cm from November 1972. It caused significant disruption across the country, with local media reporting that flights had been grounded, roads closed, and that there were delays to transport services. At least one person is reported to have died in a weather-related traffic accident near Seoul. Youn Ki-han, the head of Seoul's Meteorology Forecast Division, told the AFP news agency that the heavy snowfall was due to strong westerly winds and a "significant temperature difference between the sea surface and the cold air". It is expected to continue through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. The cold weather comes after the region experienced a period of mild autumn temperatures. "Just last week, I felt that the November autumn was a bit warm, but in just one week it feels like it's turned into a winter wonderland, which was quite a contrast," said businessman Bae Joo-han. "So I came out onto the streets today to enjoy the first snowfall of this winter." Link: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cpqdgw7lzw0o

  17. Realme's GT Pro smartphones are indeed a rare breed. Since the brand came to be in 2018, Realme announced just a handful of powerful smartphones, and only two made it to India. The last time around, it was the Realme GT 2 Pro in 2022, which offered flagship performance at a premium price tag of Rs. 49,999. But a lot has changed in the p ast two years. These days, having 8GB of RAM on a flagship device is no longer sufficient, particularly with the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) features that have only increased in number since 2024. Priced from Rs. 59,999 for the base 12GB + 256GB variant, Realme's latest GT 7 Pro debuts a top-notch processor and comes with little compromise in every other area, making it a serious and practical contender in the premium segment. *Please note that we received the Chinese model of the Realme GT 7 Pro. This model has a 6,500mAh battery versus the 5,800mAh capacity of the Indian model. However, this is the only change between the two models. Realme GT 7 Pro Design: Captivating The GT 7 Pro differentiates itself from the Realme GT 2 Pro and other GT smartphones in the company's lineup. It has a very mature design philosophy with clean lines, flat sides, and a very slim overall appearance thanks to its 3D-curved glass screens used for its display and its rear panel. I received the vibrant Mars Orange finish, but Realme offers a subtle Galaxy Grey finish. Both finishes have a matte-finished rear panel, but the Mars Orange colourway gets the contrasted (almost lustrous) orange finish, which also has a wavy pattern that appears like a gradient terrain layer of a map. The metallic bronze colour, along with the vibrant matte orange back, gives it a very sci-fi sort of appearance. I also like the slightly raised camera module, which has a neatly designed off-sided bevelled border around it. Given its sheer size, metal frame, and sizeable battery inside, I expected the phone to feel heavy. Still, it's not too heavy and lends a premium heft to the device. Its IP69 rating is currently the highest possible durability rating a device can get. The ‘6' stands for excellent protection against fine dust; the ‘9' applies to pressurised water and even steam cleaning, meaning this phone can withstand the elements, immersion, and all types of rainy weather without any problems. This IP rating also comes in handy when using this phone underwater, as it also packs a special underwater photography mode. Always remember that these ratings and seals are meant to protect your phone in such environments and that warranty coverage will not cover damage caused by using it in such conditions. 18. Google is planning to give Gemini a major boost in absorbing and explaining software code, as discovered in as-yet unreleased code by Android Authority. The upgrade could simplify developers' lives using the AI assistant on Android devices. Specifically, the unreleased programming points to Gemini, adding the ability to analyze entire code folders instead of one file at a time like now. That's less of a breakthrough than a way for Google to keep up with its rivals like ChatGPT, which can already take on multiple files of code. Based on the report, Gemini users would be able to upload a codebase of up to 1,000 files and 100MB in a single folder. You could then ask Gemini about the code, what it does, and ways to improve it. That might not seem like a big change, but the single file limit makes Gemini's insight into code much less helpful for developers. Even if they like how Gemini explains the code, uploading a thousand files in a folder that could all go up at once takes a long time. By putting it all together in a single upload, Gemini could provide a more holistic view of a project and its strengths and weaknesses. At the very least, debugging would go a lot faster. The raw code doesn't indicate when the new feature will be available or if it will be restricted to premium subscribers, but expect a lot of excitement from coders who would prefer to use Google's AI over OpenAI or GitHub Copilot, the coding assistant run by the Microsoft subsidiary. Even with folder uploading as an option, Gemini won't be taking over for programmers everywhere. A maximum of 1,000 files and 100MB per folder might be sufficient for smaller projects or individual developers, but it could fall short for larger, enterprise-level codebases. Even on a smaller scale, AI tools can really only supplement human expertise. Debugging and optimizing code is one thing, but you'll still want a human checking the result of anything the AI writes. And the creative aspect of programming is not an area where AI can really shine, at least without mimicking existing ideas. Still, many independent developers and small teams will undoubtedly welcome Gemini's upgrade as it makes coding more accessible to those with less experience and fewer resources. Imagine a junior developer using Gemini to understand a complex open-source project or a solo creator resolving all of the bugs in their app. The ability to ask plain-language questions about an entire codebase could streamline that process enormously. 19. After Donald Trump announced plans to slap a 10% tariff on Chinese imports, leading PC makers Dell, HP, and Microsoft decided to prepare and asked their manufacturing partners in China to maximize their output in November and December to lower costs and mitigate potential disruptions, reports Nikkei. The longer-term plan of all three companies (and the industry at large) is to transfer production from China to other countries. "We have been in meetings with several U.S. clients, and they are all eager to know whether we can further accelerate our plan to have meaningful production outside of China," one electronics component maker that supplies Apple, HP, and Microsoft told Nikkei. Virtually all leading electronics suppliers have been shifting their production away from China in recent years to reduce their geopolitical risks. Hence, the strategy has nothing to do with Trump returning to power. However, with a 10% tariff on Chinese imports and 25% on goods from Mexico and Canada announced on Trump's first day in office, the tech giants are taking swift action. Since plenty of components and assembly are done in China, Dell, HP, and Microsoft asked their suppliers in the People's Republic to maximize their production in November and December so they could ship these goods either to the U.S. or warehouses in other countries to avoid paying tariffs. Dell, which already produces some goods in Vietnam, is exploring further diversification within Southeast Asia to reduce geopolitical risks. For HP, one partner has rented a factory in Thailand to immediately begin production for the major client. Others have built new warehouses and production facilities in Thailand for HP, and more are under construction. Both Dell and HP aim to sharply reduce their use of Chinese-made parts in desktops and laptops and are currently reassessing procurement plans through 2025. Microsoft is also pushing suppliers to increase cloud server component production in November and December to avoid tariffs. The company also plans to relocate the assembly of Xbox consoles and Surface laptops outside China. Since it is impossible to move production from one facility to another overnight, the company reportedly aims to produce as many of these devices as possible outside of China by the end of 2025. In addition, contract electronics manufacturers have been preemptively increasing output since Trump's election victory, which includes pretty much all types of components, such as mechanical parts, passive components, and PCBs. Concerns over 'origin laundering' mentioned by Trump during the campaign have added urgency, so companies are striving to meet regulatory and tariff requirements.
