In October of last year, 28-year-old Dalton Summitt read a story about an unusual car hoard to be auctioned in Big Spring, Texas. The estate of John Haynie contained 250 vintage vehicles in various states of repair, most of them Mopars, but because Dalton is a GM guy, it was a lone 1970 Pontiac GTO that caught his eye. Unfortunately for the GTO, Haynie and his family considered themselves Mopar people, and over the course of four decades the run-of-the-mill 400-equipped Goat was relegated to target practice duty, saving the remaining 249 cars from the ravages of trigger fingers that were itchy even by Texas standards. By the time of the auction, the 1970 GTO was riddled with thousands of bullet holes (some of significant caliber) and if you were like Dalton Summitt, it screamed at you from the grave. Dalton Summit is not your usual car-loving hobbyist. By day, he's an industrial electrician in the Kansas City, Missouri, area, but his passion during all other waking hours is bringing forlorn machines back from the dead and documenting them on his YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram pages as Pole Barn Garage. The sketchier, the better. (Even though Dalton isn't a Mopar guy, be on the lookout for his next, similar project, the Rolled Runner. "It's everything I imagined, and a little less!") He saves these cars with his son, JD. "My son JD has a particular knack for all things mechanical and he loves cars," says Dalton. "He's 11, and we're now building his 1959 Ford Custom on the channel for his first hot rod. He's my number-one go-to man for help around the shop, and he assisted me with a large portion of the build. JD is every bit my equal when it comes to wrenching, not just a kid." We picked up the trail of Dalton's GTO—called the Holey Goat, for obvious reasons—in June of 2021, when Steve Magnante of Junkyard Gold sent HOT ROD a massive load of auction photos that included the 1970 Pontiac GTO in question. When word of the Haynie hoard hit Dalton, he had to peek at the Spanky's Freedom Car Auctions site on which it was listed. The many Mopars in the Haynie hoard were certainly cool, but it was the bullet-ridden 1970 Pontiac GTO that pushed Dalton to make a stunning $200 bid. "The bid was at $7, but I'm like, let's throw a bid on it, say $200. Two weeks later, I get a notification on my phone that says, 'Congratulations! You've won a 1970 GTO!' and I'm like, 'what are you talking about?'" On one hand, $200 might not sound like much for an iconic muscle car like a GTO, but on the other hand, the damage to the Pontiac was so great that no rational person could ever hope to restore it. This of course assumes two things: that your definition of restoration fits everyone else's, and that you're a rational person. Dalton sums it up with the characteristic deadpan sarcasm that has become his trademark: "I'm a moron." (If you've got a quick 55 minutes, you should watch the compendium of all 23 of Dalton's Holey Goat build episodes here.) But what good hot-rodder hasn't at one time realized the folly of a bad decision well after it's too late? Upon arrival in Texas, the Pontiac looked bad. So much lead had penetrated its body that it defied logic that the car could even be moved in one piece, yet not so much as a cactus fell off the vehicle as it was meticulously loaded on the back of Dalton's trailer—with a forklift. (The cactus, still growing from the floor where the driver's seat had been, would later make its debut with the GTO at the Kansas City ISCA Autorama World of Wheels car show in March 2022.) Equal parts crime scene, archeological dig, and restoration project, the GTO would be transformed by Dalton and JD from a non-running basket case to a running, burnout-producing basket case in a scant five months. The mind of madness has its own twisted logic, and in this case, Dalton had seized upon the notion that the coolest thing to do with the GTO was preserve as much of the rot and rust as possible while performing the automotive equivalent of a moonshot: get it running well enough to do massive burnouts on command. Thankfully, the A-body's perimeter frame looked good, which is really the only important thing required for a project such as this. Nevertheless, the svelte lines of the GTO were long ago replaced with kinetic embellishments so brutal that none of its articulating sheetmetal (doors, trunk, hood) could move without the infliction of great bodily damage (to the human, not the car). Most hobbyist restorers would set about straightening and replacing sheetmetal, but Pole Barn Garage does things differently. All manner of straps, come-alongs, winches, saws, bottle jacks, sledgehammers, hydraulic rams, and even loaded guns were employed to coax the GTO's shape back to normal (or at least a semblance of normal for someone, perhaps, with a greenhouse full of psychoactive mushrooms). 004 cactus in pontiac gtofilterSEE ALL 51 PHOTOS The mind of madness has its own twisted logic, and in this case, Dalton had seized upon the notion that the coolest thing to do with the GTO was preserve as much of the rot and rust as possible while performing the automotive equivalent of a moonshot: get it running well enough to do massive burnouts on command. "As you can see, it needs light bodywork, light interior work, light mechanical … it needs everything, but that's OK because we can do that. We're going to save this car, and I use 'save' as a very, very relative term. What we need to do with this is get her to run, drive, stop sometimes, and do large burnouts, but mostly just fix it because everybody says I can't." With that, Dalton and JD began systematically attacking every part of the GTO, eventually spending a total of around $2,500 to get it fully running, including $200 for the GTO. Above all else, as a Pontiac guy, Dalton made the effort from the start to keep the GTO true to the brand, maintaining all its Pontiac-osity throughout the drivetrain, from the vintage lo-po Pontiac 400ci V-8 to the BOP-specific Turbo 400 trans and Pontiac rearend. 006 world of wheels 1970 pontiac gto filterSEE ALL 51 PHOTOS Armed with a fully stocked war chest of humor (the guy is genuinely funny) and a keen sense of irony, Dalton set his sights on the March 2022 Kansas City World of Wheels car show with the end goal of stinking the place up handsomely. (Spoiler alert: mission accomplished!) With just five months to get the job done in a cold, drafty lean-to, Pole Barn Garage got to work disassembling the GTO, vacuuming it out, washing it down, and using all manner of cudgels to cajole it back into something resembling its original shape. Periodic applications of donor sheet metal (old road signs, the hood of a square-body Chevy truck) and some black tractor paint got the engine bay, interior, and trunk into serviceable shape. Quips Dalton during this stage of the build: "We really don't want it to look good, we just want it to look." 007 pontiac 400 v8 full of mud filterSEE ALL 51 PHOTOS The goal of fixing the original engine went by the wayside when it was discovered it had spent a fair amount of time underwater. While the original 400ci Pontiac V-8 seems to have escaped being shot, as Dalton deadpans: "I do know that if the bottom of your dipstick is rotted off that there is some concern there." The photo above shows what the bottom end looked like with the oil pan removed: a block of brown mud and rust in the shape of an oil pan. Dalton got into action and repurposed a '69 Pontiac 400 from an older project which he says is nothing special but has been treated to a Summit Racing SUM-2800 cam, double-roller timing chain, Holley Brawler carb, ACCEL wires and coil, hardened pushrods, and an old Holley single-plane Street Dominator intake manifold, the latter of which, Dalton correctly ascertains, "that's gonna run horrible on this engine." 008 pontiac gto 400ci v8 bop th400 trans filterSEE ALL 51 PHOTOS While the original BOP-specific (Buick, Olds, Pontiac) Turbo 400 automatic three-speed trans would turn out to be salvageable, time dictated that Dalton temporarily go with a BOP Turbo 400 of known functionality, a theme that recurs thanks to a stash of parts from Dalton's other finished 1972 Pontiac LeMans project. That stash also yielded a posi-equipped Pontiac rearend when it was discovered that rust had wasted the Holey Goat's original axles, bearings, and backing plates. The non-original but all-Pontiac powertrain was a relative walk in the park, but the same could not be said for the wiring, which ate much of the allotted time before the World of Wheels show. 009 pontiac rearend 1970 pontiac gto filterSEE ALL 51 PHOTOS An electrician by trade, Dalton attacked the wiring job with an offshore 12-circuit wiring kit costing $32, then relocated the battery to the trunk with a $30 set of jumper cables. "It makes it a real pain for the next guy, but the next guy is me, and I hate that guy, so … I didn't look at the schematic; it's barely in English." Dalton does a good job softening the task's difficulty with humor, but safety is where he gets a little bit serious. "You might notice that I cut some corners, but I also follow that corner, in fact I follow that corner real tight on certain things. You can half-ass some stuff but when it comes to the important things make sure you get it right, because death is bad." 010 1970 pontiac gto 400ci v8 filterSEE ALL 51 PHOTOS Another area Dalton and JD spent a lot of time on was the suspension and brakes. With little cash available for a UPS truckload of blister-packed parts, the stock suspension pieces were cleaned and painted; stock wear items were replaced with the cheapest stuff available. Rattling off a list of poor-quality, foreign-made brake parts, Dalton warns "If you see me on the highway, maybe keep your distance." Splurging in the suspension area, Dalton did spring for period-correct air shocks in the rear to provide the car with the necessary rake. Pointing to some questionable coil springs and sketchy plumbing, Dalton narrates: " … it will give it a ground-sniffer rake that every cool guy had in 1977 when this car was busy getting shot to death. You're ready to be the coolest guy in the trailer park." That sentiment, of course, extends to the matching chrome Cragar wheels and side-pipe exhaust. 012 1970 pontiac gto holey goat rear filterSEE ALL 51 PHOTOS Dalton credits Roadkill Customs and Holley with some sponsorship, but it was the local big-box home supply store, with its low prices on non-traditional restoration parts, that really aided his cost-cutting process. These items include barrel-bolt door locks, dryer ducting for the cold-air induction, aluminum flashing, and thousands of self-tapping sheetmetal screws, a major component in all the GTO's interior and bodywork. These raw materials were combined in some cases with proven secondhand components like traffic cones and road signs, all legally obtained of course. If we understand things correctly, only one commonly recognized aftermarket restoration part was used for the GTO: a repop gas tank that arrived at the Pole Barn Garage in typical condition, with its center-fed filler tube broken clean off. "No problem," says Dalton. "I get to use my all-time favorite multi-purpose tool: JB Weld." https://csblackdevil.com/forums/forum/901-auto-moto/?do=add

In his first visit to Buffalo since leaving office in August, Andrew M. Cuomo revived a host of themes familiar to his more than 10 years as governor during a Sunday appearance at True Bethel Baptist Church aimed at consoling a grieving community. He expressed his sympathies to a Black community mourning the murder of 10 of their neighbors on May 14. He pronounced his love for Buffalo, just as on his many previous trips to New York's second largest city. And he made a plea for removing military-style weapons from the streets, exactly as during his 2013 effort to implement one of the nation's strictest gun control laws. But even after President Biden and Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer sounded the same theme during visits to Buffalo last week – and even as they acknowledged their unlikely chances of success – the former governor seemed to have no patience for excuses or "thoughts and prayers" as he addressed reporters following remarks from the True Bethel pulpit. "Politicians always say that," he said of officeholders in general. "We took on guns in this state. We said this is a priority. The majority of people in this state support it. The majority of people in this country support it. Though the Tops gunman apparently was able to buy his weapon legally in New York, Cuomo said he is convinced the controversial SAFE Act that he championed saved lives. The former governor also questioned whether the state's "red flag law" aimed to alert authorities to people threatening violence worked in the Buffalo incident. He acknowledged he was not familiar with the details, but said, "From what I've read, that law was not followed." Cuomo also targeted officeholders espousing white supremacist views or a "replacement theory" that claims that immigrants and minorities aim to take over the country. "Let's see Congress stand up and censure people who actually do that," he said, adding that politicians' silence "violates their oath." He called for stricter monitoring of social media to weed out domestic terrorists like the Broome County man accused in the killings at Tops Market on Jefferson Avenue in the same way government watches foreign terrorists. After resigning as governor following a host of ethical accusations last summer, Cuomo has maintained a relatively low profile. On the rare occasions when he surfaces, he normally heads to minority communities where polls show he continues to enjoy strong support. In March, for example, he commented before a Puerto Rican audience in the South Bronx on a host of issues facing Albany. On that day, to enthusiastic applause, he criticized criminal justice laws he said went "too far," as well as a "bloated" state budget. On Sunday, he found the same enthusiastic response from the mostly Black congregation at True Bethel on East Ferry Street, where he was welcomed by Bishop Darius G. Pridgen, who is also president of the Buffalo Common Council. Cuomo began his 11-minute remarks by expressing his condolences, adding "I am sickened by what happened here in Buffalo." “It couldn’t be more ugly, because we wanted to believe this type of violence and hatred was a stain in America’s past – not a problem in the present," he said. “But it is – race-based mass shootings are modern day lynchings. The noose has been replaced with an assault rifle." Quoting from Deuteronomy and Micah, the Hebrew prophet, the former governor reiterated to several hundred Sunday morning worshippers that the Lord seeks results, and applied the idea to the need for new measures designed to stave off mass shootings. "We faced opposition from the Republicans and from some Democrats," he said. "We paid the political price. But we got it done, and this federal government needs to get it done because even our state’s laws are not enough." Cuomo also told True Bethel that the Bible instructs them to seek justice. “Do justice. Politics today is toxic – we have extremist politicians who are fanning the flames of fear. They are purposely fomenting hate groups by saying Blacks, Latinos and immigrants are a replacement theory for the white race," he said. "And an elected official who supports them is no better than a modern-day Bull Connor." Pridgen, who announced services for True Bethel congregant and shooting victim Margus Morrison later this week, followed with his own sermon on the importance of maintaining mental health and the oblique connection to mass shootings like the Tops incident, at one point spurring Cuomo to stand and clap his hands. The former governor mixed with congregants for several minutes after his speech, waving and posing for photos. https://csblackdevil.com/forums/forum/109-news/?do=add

Researchers have developed a low-cost device that can selectively capture carbon dioxide gas while it charges. Then, when it discharges, the CO2 can be released in a controlled way and collected to be reused or disposed of responsibly. The supercapacitor device, which is similar to a rechargeable battery, is the size of a two-pence coin, and is made in part from sustainable materials including coconut shells and seawater. Designed by researchers from the University of Cambridge, the supercapacitor could help power carbon capture and storage technologies at much lower cost. Around 35 billion metric tons of CO2 are released into the atmosphere per year and solutions are urgently needed to eliminate these emissions and address the climate crisis. The most advanced carbon capture technologies currently require large amounts of energy and are expensive. The supercapacitor consists of two electrodes of positive and negative charge. In work led by Trevor Binford while completing his Master's degree at Cambridge, the team tried alternating from a negative to a positive voltage to extend the charging time from previous experiments. This improved the supercapacitor's ability to capture carbon. "We found that that by slowly alternating the current between the plates we can capture double the amount of CO2 than before," said Dr. Alexander Forse from Cambridge's Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry, who led the research. "The charging-discharging process of our supercapacitor potentially uses less energy than the amine heating process used in industry now," said Forse. "Our next questions will involve investigating the precise mechanisms of CO2 capture and improving them. Then it will be a question of scaling up." A supercapacitor is similar to a rechargeable battery but the main difference is in how the two devices store charge. A battery uses chemical reactions to store and release charge, whereas a supercapacitor does not rely on chemical reactions. Instead, it relies on the movement of electrons between electrodes, so it takes longer to degrade and has a longer lifespan. "The trade-off is that supercapacitors can't store as much charge as batteries, but for something like carbon capture we would prioritize durability," said co-author Grace Mapstone. "The best part is that the materials used to make supercapacitors are cheap and abundant. The electrodes are made of carbon, which comes from waste coconut shells. "We want to use materials that are inert, that don't harm environments, and that we need to dispose of less frequently. For example, the CO2 dissolves into a water-based electrolyte which is basically seawater." However, this supercapacitor does not absorb CO2 spontaneously: it must be charging to draw in CO2. When the electrodes become charged, the negative plate draws in the CO2 gas, while ignoring other emissions, such as oxygen, nitrogen and water, which don't contribute to climate change. Using this method, the supercapacitor both captures carbon and stores energy. Co-author Dr. Israel Temprano contributed to the project by developing a gas analysis technique for the device. The technique uses a pressure sensor that responds to changes in gas adsorption in the electrochemical device. The results from Temprano's contribution help narrow down the precise mechanism at play inside the supercapacitor when CO2 is absorbed and released. Understanding these mechanisms, the possible losses, and the routes of degradation are all essential before the supercapacitor can be scaled up. "This field of research is very new so the precise mechanism working inside the supercapacitor still isn't known," said Temprano. https://csblackdevil.com/forums/forum/828-software/?do=add

The wait is over as Apex Legends Mobile has finally launched on Android and iOS after years of waiting. Built from the ground up, this battle royale is the most ambitious yet, promising players a proper AAA FPS experience. Apex’s mobile port will feature all the excellence its PC and console counterparts have, the fast-paced combat, strategic gameplay, stunning graphics, and a slight twist to set this version apart. Thanks to the portability of mobiles, Apex Legends Mobile can now be played anywhere and at any time. Prior to launch, Respawn revealed a cinematic trailer that featured a news forecast showcasing an Apex Legends match between po[CENSORED]r characters like Mirage, Bangalore, Gibraltar, Mozambique, Wraith, and more, with Mirage taking the cake. The trailer, however, ended with a glimpse at an upcoming character who is about to wreak havoc in this world. Speaking about their vision for the game, Giovanni Ducati, Head of Apex Legends Mobile said: “From the start on Apex Legends Mobile, we’ve had the competitive mobile gamer in mind, so we knew we couldn’t just simply port Apex Legends over to iOS and Android. We had to build Apex Legends Mobile from the ground up, to create a mobile experience that was not only as fast, intense, and innovative as the original Apex Legends, but was also a new and unique experience full of new mobile first content that stands on its own.” The new character has been revealed to be Fade, a powerful super-soldier using futuristic technology. He has made good use of the gear he has to create phase-shifting technology that makes him a formidable player. His tactical ability will reset him to an earlier point in the encounter while his ultimate boosts offensive and defensive gameplay. Apex Legends Mobile also sees the launch of Season 1: Prime Time Battle Pass which features numerous cosmetics. The Seasonal Shop will build onto that. Finally, players can also take part in a variety of game modes, regional content, and loads more. https://csblackdevil.com/forums/forum/18883-mobile-games/?do=add

Valve is finally fixing one annoying limitation to the Steam Deck if you decide to install the Windows OS on the PC gaming handheld. On Friday, the company released audio drivers for Windows 10 and 11 installations for the Steam Deck. The software is necessary for playing sound from the device’s built-in speakers or 3.5mm headphone jack if you dump SteamOS for Microsoft’s operating system. Back in March, Valve officially introduced Windows OS support on the Steam Deck, allowing owners to turn the product into a true Windows gaming machine. But at the time, the company offered no audio driver support. So any Steam Deck installation could only play sound through Bluetooth or the USB-C port. Friday’s announcement addresses the audio limitation for not only Windows 10, but also Windows 11, which can be installed on a Steam Deck through a beta patch. The new audio drivers can be downloaded from Steam’s dedicated website for resources on installing the Windows OS. The audio drivers also require the installation of the most current APU driver file for the Steam Deck. Unfortunately, the Steam Deck still doesn’t support dual booting. So any Windows installation will require the user to remove the default SteamOS already onboard. The other problem is that adding Windows to the Steam Deck can be a bit of hassle. You’ll need to install Windows on the device first using a USB thumb drive. Valve also adds: “To enter your product key during installation, you'll need internet. Because there are no Wi-Fi drivers at this point, you'll need a USB-C hub with an Ethernet port for internet.” However, you can skip entering the product key at this stage and install the Valve-provided Wi-Fi drivers later to enable the wireless internet access. https://csblackdevil.com/forums/forum/506-pc-games/?do=add

The 98th running of the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes over 1⅛ mile features a robust field of 13 fillies trying to step up within the 3-year-old filly division. No fillies that ran in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks two weeks ago at Churchill Downs were entered to run in the Susan, other than also eligible Beguine, who did not get into the Oaks. This year’s race, along with the Pimlico Special, will be televised nationally on USA Network (5 p.m.) in a one-hour telecast. The pace looks to be similar to the expected weather at Pimlico – hot – with a lot of early speed which should set up for the late comers. Let’s take a look at the field with trainer, jockey and odds in parenthesis: Race 13 – Post Time: Friday, 5:44 p.m. ET – 1 1/8 miles (dirt) – $250,000 Grade 3 Black-Eyed Susan 1 – Divine Huntress (Motion, Prat, 15-1) – Daughter of Divining Rod has not stepped up when facing graded company and will need heavy improvement in this field. Strong workout pattern for trainer Graham Motion, but seems to be up against it. 2 – Missy Greer (Gargan, Saez, 20-1) – Long shot who broke her maiden in her fourth career race last out. Has shown improvement in her two races at Gulfstream and will likely be part of the early pace. Not convinced she’s going to be around late. 3 – Miss Yearwood (Wilkes, Leparoux, 20-1) – Broke her maiden at a mile-and-a-quarter at Churchill Downs against older horses. Willing to give the daughter of Will Take Charge a harder look. Ian Wilkes had a big Derby weekend on the undercard and must think she’s ready to roll against steeper competition. Super workout May 13 and will be coming late. Willing to consider in the exotics. 4 – Midnight Stroll (Terranova, Castellano, 15-1) – Won non-graded stake at Tampa last out for trainer John Terranova. The daughter of Not This Time has some speed underneath in the pedigree from two-time Breeders’ Cup Sprint champ Midnight Lute and stamina on top. Not sure she meets the class test. Waiting this one out. 5 – Beguine (Peltz, Ortiz, 12-1) – Was hoping to scratch into the Oaks, but didn’t materialize. Daughter of Gun Runner just missed qualifying when she was beaten a neck in the Grade 2 Fantasy at Oaklawn. Stalking type that should have no problem with the distance. Contender at a decent price. 6 – Luna Belle (Smith, Araujo, 9-2) – Maryland-bred filly has run in 11 career races, the most of any entrant in the race. She has fared well locally winning five consecutive non-graded stakes down the road at Laurel. While her speed figures seem to fit, she hasn’t faced any major competition or looked another horse in the eye at this level of competition. Wavering on including. 7 – Distinctlypossible (Brown, Ortiz Jr., 6-1) – Daughter of Curlin, the 2007 Preakness winner, will look to follow her father into the Pimlico winner’s circle. The pace looks as if it will set up perfectly for the $670,000 purchase. Has top jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. aboard again after breaking her maiden at Keeneland after a second-place finish in a Grade 1, so the price sure looks right. The pick. 8 – Candy Light (Motion, Marquez, 20-1) – Candy Ride filly played second fiddle to Luna Belle after her maiden breaker in February. Hard to see this one breaking through in this field. 9 – Interstatedaydream (Cox, Geroux, 6-1) – Another horse, similar to the No. 7, that has been racing against steeper competition and could come in with a class edge. Wasn’t up to the task in the Ashland, but the competition there was pretty solid in Nest and Cocktail Moments. Workout tab looks as if she’s ready. In the mix. 10 – Adare Manor (McCarthy, Velazquez, 5-2) – Formerly in the Bob Baffert barn, the morning line favorite keeps Hall of Fame rider Johnny V in the irons and sports the highest speed figures in the race. Big question will be if she can withstand the hot pace. Was flattered by Desert Dawn’s performance in the Oaks. Has the talent to win and is the one to beat. 11 – Radio Days (McGaughey, Rosario, 12-1) – Dangerous connections for the Gun Runner filly who was flattered in the G3 Beaumont by the winner who won the Eight Belles on the Oaks undercard on Oaks Day. The $750,000 Keeneland September sale purchase in 2020 seems to fit, but her inconsistency since the beginning of the year gives one pause. 12 – Favor (Pletcher, Gaffalione, 8-1) – One of only two Todd Pletcher entries on the weekend at Pimlico. The grey daughter of Pioneerof the Nile drew outside and will need to position herself before the short run to the clubhouse turn. She finished third in the Fair Grounds Oaks behind two Oaks fillies that didn’t hit the board in Louisville. Tough ask from the outside. 13 – Morning Matcha (Reid, Pennington, 15-1) – Central Banker filly drew outside and will be in deeper waters than she’s been before. Her only race with graded company at the Big A was disappointing. Will need a monumental effort to compete. Pass. https://csblackdevil.com/forums/forum/900-sport-biographies/?do=add

The last time Marcus Talley heard from his mother, Geraldine, was Mother's Day. He sent her a text wishing her a Happy Mother's Day. She wrote back: "Thank you." "I never would have thought it would be the last time I would speak to her or hear from her," he said. "I never would have thought my mother would be shot dead – have a bullet go through her right temple on her head." One by one, on the steps of Antioch Baptist Church on Fillmore Avenue, the families of four of the victims of the May 14 massacre at the Tops Markets store on Jefferson Avenue stepped before reporters and let their grief flow. "How dare you!" cried out Robin Harris, the eldest daughter of another victim, Ruth Whitfield, stomping her foot on the sidewalk. The heartbroken families were joined by civil rights leader, the Rev. Al Sharpton of the National Action Network, attorney Ben Crump, who has represented the families of the victims of the nation's most heinous hate crimes, and Buffalo attorney Terry Connors. Crump and Connors are representing the families in taking legal action against the gun manufacturers that made the weapons that the killer used in Buffalo's worst mass shooting. They're also being joined in the lawsuit by The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. Thursday afternoon, ahead of a vigil in the families' honor, the loved ones of Geraldine Talley, Andre Mackniel, Heyward Patterson and Ruth Whitfield tried to give words to their grief. Marcus Talley was the first to step up to the microphones. He held up a portrait of his mother, who was 62-years-old when she was killed. "It's like Groundhog's Day," he said. "We've seen this over and over and over. Honestly speaking, I wouldn't be surprised if another event like this happens down the line." Talley never thought such a horrible thing would happen in his hometown of Buffalo. "It's hard for me to imagine the city in which I grew up, in the neighborhood in which grew up, the Tops on Jefferson which I went to many times growing up, that that would be the place of the next terrorist attack," he said. Veronica White, Mackniel's aunt, sobbed as Sharpton and Crump held her. Mackniel was from Buffalo and was living in Auburn, but was back in town to celebrate his son Andre Jr.'s third birthday. He went to Tops to buy him a birthday cake and car, White said. https://csblackdevil.com/forums/forum/109-news/?do=add

After a season-opener at North Carolina's Charlotte Motor Speedway, the West-Coast launch of Optima's 2022 Search for the Ultimate Street Car, presented by Advance Auto Parts, had competitors heading to Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California, for the first time in the history of the series. The iconic road course, which is on a lot of drivers' bucket lists, delivered in spades, and the tarmac for the QA1 Autocross and Peak Performance Challenge offered a tight and technical challenge that favored skilled drivers and cars set up for handling over brute power. Late-model Camaros in the series haven't offered much of a response to the dominant Mustangs in recent years, but that trend might be shifting. Three-time GT Class champion Jonathan Blevins cruised to an easy class victory at Charlotte but faced much stiffer opposition at Sonoma, led by the winningest driver in NASA history, Dave Schotz, in his 2020 Camaro. Schotz put down a fast enough time on the Falken Tire Road Course time trial to qualify for the Trans Am race, and he did it on 200-treadwear street tires. He needed to turn in a strong performance because he had a lot of ground to make up from the Lingenfelter Design & Engineering Challenge, where his car scored well but not within the range of the other class leaders, who enjoyed a 12-to-17-point advantage there. Mike Maier's 2017 Mustang turned in a top-10 overall time on the QA1 Autocross and the second-fastest time on the road course, which brought the eight-time SCCA National champion into the conversation. Meanwhile, Matt Ramirez's 2004 Mustang was quietly laying down consistent numbers in each of the five segments. Blevins struggled to find grip throughout the weekend, and by Sunday afternoon he knew another class win was out of reach. Ramirez posted a top-10 finish on the road course, but came up just one point short of Schotz, giving the Camaro driver his second class win in the series. The defending champion, Blevins, finished off the podium, in fourth place. Things were just as tight in the Holley EFI GTL Class, where defending Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational (OUSCI) champion Jake Rozelle battled with 2020 champ CB Ramey. Rozelle grabbed the OUSCI crown from Ramey by a single point last year, after Ramey did the same thing to Rozelle the year prior. The two Corvettes were back at it again at Sonoma, where Ramey's C4 once again gained the upper hand over Rozelle's C5 by a single point. The No-Limit Engineering GTT class for trucks, SUVs, and vans saw the largest field in the history of the series, as 12 trucks took to the track in competition. The mix of entries ran from Kyle Sepulveda's '66 C10 all the way up to Rob White's '04 SRT-10, with several Fords sprinkled in between. David Carroll's '74 Blazer emerged victorious, thanks to a consistent performance across all segments, capped by a class-leading run on the Falken Tire road course time trial. In the Speedtech Lucky 7 Outlaw Class, where aero rules take a break and the results are tallied from just the driving segments, a mix of newcomers squared off against longtime competitors. Keith Corrigan was able to grab the top spot on the QA1 Autocross in the No-Limit Engineering C10 pickup, but John Lawrence's 2017 Corvette grabbed the top spot in the other two segments and the overall class victory. The GTS Class always offers a diverse field of competitors, and Sonoma was no exception. The weekend started off with the Teslas driven by Jordan Priestley and Jon Bickford posting times on the QA1 Autocross and Peak Performance Challenge that were nearly unreachable by anyone else. The one car that could hang with them was Bob Sobey's Nissan GT-R, which managed to drive around Logan Palmer's 2019 Corvette for the class victory. In the Classic Car Liquidators GTV Class for vintage iron, defending class champion Jason Bottenfield was looking to rebound off his two-point loss in the opening round. His DuSold Designs-built '69 Camaro grabbed the top spot overall in the Lingenfelter Design & Engineering Challenge, but the competition didn't roll over. Brian Hobaugh's stunning '73 Camaro took a three-point deficit from D&E and turned it into a two-point lead after the QA1 Autocross, and extended it even further after the Peak Performance Challenge. However, it was the consistent performance of Ryan Breezee's '69 Camaro throughout the weekend that allowed him to grab the class win over Hobaugh and Bottenfield. https://csblackdevil.com/forums/forum/901-auto-moto/?do=add
