The frequency with which spam calls bombard smartphone owners can be one of the most truly maddening things about possessing a handset. From the inane ploys to try and trick you — an Obamacare offer! Your car’s warranty is about to expire! Don’t you want to hear about a great home refinance offer? — to the spoofing of legitimate local numbers, the deluge of calls seems like it’s never-ending. Here’s the good news, though: By following just a few simple steps, and adjusting some settings on your iPhone, you can dramatically cut down the frequency of these and actually stop spam calls. To activate the Silence Unknown Callers feature, open the Settings app. Next, scroll down a bit until you see the Phone preferences pane. Once there, all you have to do is toggle the Silence Unknown Callers into the “on” position. At that point, if an unknown number tries to reach you, it will go straight to voicemail. You’ll see a voicemail notification if you look, but you won’t see a call-incoming notification. Apple does add this important note about the feature: “If you’ve previously texted with someone using their phone number or if a person has shared their phone number with you in an email, a phone call from that number will go through.” Along similar lines, if a user makes an emergency call then the feature will temporarily turn itself off for 24 hours to make sure that incoming calls go through. Android handsets, of course, vary a bit, but you can enable a similar feature on them, too. From the phone app, select the three dots and then go to Settings. That’s where you can find more than one option to block any strange calls. Like Call Blocking on some models, for example, which lets users block anonymous calls. Other options to silence annoying calls In addition to those features, here are some other steps you can take to cut down on spam calls. Report any number harassing you to the FTC. Also, visit the FTC’s Do Not Call Registry and add any bothersome spam call number to the list there. This is great because it There are also free and paid spam-blocking apps (and also third-party spam-blocking technology) that you can try. The big wireless carriers offer their own in free and paid versions, such as ActiveArmor from AT&T and Call Filter from Verizon. AT&T’s, among other things, promises 10 million spam calls blocked each day. Also, when all else fails, don’t forget to block any spam calls individually that somehow get through to you. You can do this on-device, such as by tapping the “i” icon next to a phone number if you’re on iOS and selecting “Block this caller.” Using the Google Phone app on an Android device, long-press on the call you want to block and then select “Block/report spam.” FAQ How do I stop spam calls from coming to my phone? For Google Android devices, first open the Phone app and go to the Spam and Call Screen settings. Then tap called & spam ID on or off, or turn on the Filter Spam Calls option. Why am I getting spam calls all of a sudden? Usually it’s because your number has been sold in a group list of phone numbers to other scammers. Remember, you can always report spam calls to the Better Business Bureau and also the Federal Trade Commission. Does blocking spam calls help? Yes, it can. Normally it helps to stop these robocalls, but it’s possible some might still get through. Don’t answer unknown numbers or engage with them as it will tell them that number is active and should be tried again. https://bgr.com/tech/how-to-stop-spam-calls-in-3-easy-steps/

Introduction A non-exhaustive list of the devices in the Oppo Reno7 family in our database includes 7 models and differentiating them takes some deliberate effort. This one we have for you today, with the most vanilla of names, is the Reno7 proper. There are no other monikers, and the absence of 5G in the title implies no next-gen connectivity - which is indeed the case. The Reno7 Lite is 5G-capable despite its lite name, but aside from that, it shares most of its DNA with this 4G-only handset. And while we're on the topic of family connections, essentially the same handset as the Reno7 is sold in India under the F21 Pro moniker, so our findings here should apply to that one as well. Just make sure you don't confuse it with the F21 Pro 5G - the other alias of the Reno7 Lite. If we managed to clear things up - great, if not - we can easily shift the blame to Oppo. The Reno7's specs don't sound overly exciting, but it's still decently well equipped. You get a 90Hz OLED display, 8GB of RAM and at least 128GB of storage, while the Snapdragon 680 should be powerful enough even though it's lacking 4K recording. Still, perhaps more notable is the camera experience is the omission of an ultrawide unit, though a dedicated 'microscope' camera, complete with a ring light, might make up for it. The main camera is 64MP, which is par for the course, and the 32MP selfie shooter is a po[CENSORED]r choice, too. We are liking the fact that the Reno7 runs Android 12 - most other non-flagship Oppos/Realmes we've had this year were still on Android 11, even though the ColorOS overlay stood at 12. The 4,500mAh battery sounds like an adequate companion to the 6.43-inch display and 6nm chipset, and the 33W charging should bring decently speedy top-ups, though breaking speed records is off the table. Oppo Reno7 specs at a glance: Body: 159.9x73.2x7.5mm, 175g; Gorilla Glass 5 front, plastic frame, plastic/vegan leather back; IPX4 water resistant. Display: 6.43" AMOLED, 90Hz, 430 nits (typ), 600 nits (HBM), 800 nits (peak), 1080x2400px resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 409ppi. Chipset: Qualcomm SM6225 Snapdragon 680 4G (6 nm): Octa-core (4x2.4 GHz Kryo 265 Gold & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo 265 Silver); Adreno 610. Memory: 128GB 8GB RAM, 256GB 8GB RAM; UFS 2.2; microSDXC. OS/Software: Android 12, ColorOS 12.1. Rear camera: Wide (main): 64 MP, f/1.7, 26mm, 1/2.0", 0.7µm, PDAF; Macro: 2 MP, f/3.3, (microscope); Depth: 2 MP, f/2.4. Front camera: 32 MP, f/2.4, 24mm (wide), 1/2.74", 0.8µm. Video capture: Rear camera: 1080p@30fps, gyro-EIS; Front camera: 1080p@30fps, gyro-EIS. Battery: 4500mAh; Fast charging 33W, Reverse charging. Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); 3.5mm jack; RGB ring light around the camera (notifications, charging progress). Oppo Reno7 unboxing Our Reno7 review unit arrived in a phone-only state - sometimes we get a suitcase full of accessories, sometimes it's like this. But retail Reno7s do ship with a 33W adapter to match the phone's spec, as well as a cable to go with it. A protective case is also included. https://www.gsmarena.com/oppo_reno7_f21_pro-review-2449.php

Lest Twitter’s intentions weren’t clear from its hiring in recent days of the powerhouse law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz LLP, the company has now filed a lawsuit in Delaware against Elon Musk — in an attempt to force the Tesla CEO to complete his proposed $44 billion acquisition of Twitter that Musk abruptly decided to abandon just a few days ago. Twitter vs Elon Musk Blasting the brash billionaire over his unilateral decision to try and walk away because “the deal he signed no longer serves his personal interests,” Twitter’s lawyers used the complaint to launch a rhetorical fusillade against Musk. The suit accuses Musk, among other things, of having “mounted a public spectacle to put Twitter in play, and having proposed and then signed a seller-friendly merger agreement, Musk apparently believes that he — unlike every other party subject to Delaware contract law — is free to change his mind, trash the company, disrupt its operations, destroy stockholder value, and walk away.” Musk’s stated justification is that Twitter has not been forthright about the degree to which Twitter spam proliferates on the platform. His legions of critics, however, have found that excuse risible. It’s partly over the fact that Musk waved the acquisition’s customary due diligence period to rush the process. READ MORE: New audit backs up Elon Musk’s concerns about fake Twitter accounts “Musk’s exit strategy is a model of hypocrisy” Other excerpts from the Twitter vs Elon lawsuit, meanwhile, include the following: “… Musk wants out. Rather than bear the cost of the market downturn, as the merger agreement requires, Musk wants to shift it to Twitter’s stockholders.” “Musk’s strategy is also a model of bad faith. While pretending to exercise the narrow right he has under the merger agreement to information for ‘consummation of the transaction,’ Musk has been working furiously — albeit fruitlessly — to try to show that the company he promised to buy and not disparage has made material misrepresentations about its business to regulators and investors.” That last part alludes to Musk repeatedly accusing Twitter of vastly undercounting the amount of spam on the platform. A claim that might actually have some truth to it, if you believe a recent audit that found at least 23 percent of Musk’s own followers could be “inauthentic.” What happens next, meanwhile, is anyone’s guess. The ensuing legal battle will almost certainly be expensive, protracted — and very strange. Twitter, which hadn’t put itself up for sale to begin with, is now taking a mercurial would-be owner to court. Over the fact that the buyer … doesn’t actually want to buy the thing anymore. Musk’s own at-times flippant tweets, by the way, are most assuredly going to factor into this litigation. From page 10 of the lawsuit, for example: https://bgr.com/business/twitter-just-sued-elon-musk-read-the-complaint-right-here/

The news comes amid rising concerns that rivals Russia and China have more advanced hypersonic missile systems. DARPA said the ground-launched test was carried out at the Sands Missile Range in the US state of New Mexico. In a separate test on Tuesday off the coast of California, the Air Force launched a hypersonic weapon, dubbed the Air-Launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW). The announcement of successful tests comes after failed attempts and increased concerns over costs and the US slipping behind in what is a race among great powers to develop the best hypersonic weapons. On June 29, the Common Hypersonic Glide Body failed in a test flight at the Pacific Missile Range Facility in Hawaii. What is a hypersonic weapon? Hypersonic weapons travel through the upper atmosphere at a speed five times faster than the speed of sound, or 6,200 km (3,853 miles) per hour. The hypersonic weapon is brought into flight under the wing of an aircraft before being launched towards its target. In previous tests, the hypersonic missile failed to detach. DARPA has requested and received $45 million for the program this fiscal year. Lockheed Martin's would like to develop a means to see the hypersonic weapons DARPA developed launched by a High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), similar to the weapons systems sent to Ukraine. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/us-military-announces-successful-hypersonic-missile-test/ar-AAZxNHw?cvid=1bec3ed9156e4540b418ffd13f7c87ac

One in six UK adults does not believe that the climate crisis is caused by humans, according to a recent survey report. King’s College London conducted the research to gain an understanding of public perceptions surrounding the climate emergency. Data concludes that many have lingering doubt over the causes of environmental damage. Six European countries participated in the survey, which polled 12,000 adults. Flying in the face of climate science The latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report states that human activities “unequivocally” caused the climate crisis. It underscores that land, sea, and air quality are all degrading. The IPCC report is a stark warning and a remedial action plan rolled into one. Every government in the world signed off on the document, compiled by leading scientists and climatologists. Still, a minority of citizens seemingly do not believe what they are being told. Some countries are less convinced by climate science than others. In the UK, 17 percent of people harbor doubts that humans are to blame for the climate crisis. Germany and Poland registered similar numbers with 18 and 16 percent respectively. Norway took the top spot for doubters with almost a quarter (24 percent) of citizens not convinced about human impact. A further 15 percent simply “did not know.” Italy and Ireland proved the most convinced of the causal link between human endeavor and the climate emergency. In these countries, 82 and 81 percent of the po[CENSORED]tions, respectively, attributed environmental issues to humans. Overall, the majority of citizens do believe that the climate emergency is human-made, with a 74 percent European consensus identified by the study. Scientists leave no room for doubt, with 99.9 percent confirmed to connect humans and environmental impact. Taking action to remedy the climate crisis Despite an average of 81 percent of people feeling concerned about the climate crisis, the UK and Norway demonstrate leading levels of apathy. In both countries, around a third of citizens feel that there are “more important things to do in life than think about climate change.” Of all the people optimistic that there is a route back to planetary health, 35 percent are aged 55 and over. Conversely, 60 percent of those who feel that it’s too late fall into the Gen Z and Millennial categories. All age groups are making a conscious effort to embrace emissions-reducing activities. On average, 73 percent of individuals walk, cycle, or take public transport in place of driving a car. Again, Italy proved the most eco-aware country. Almost three-quarters (72 percent) of its respondents support the idea of a fuel tax reform to penalize the most environmentally harmful. In order to stay in line with the Paris Agreement, consensus about the causes of the climate crisis are essential. Chief contributors to climate damage include animal agriculture and fossil fuel industrialization. Both sectors have fiercely fought against mandates to curb their emissions, particularly in the US, which is one of the largest emissions generators in the world. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) just had its authority limited by a new Supreme Court ruling. The IPCC has called for a drastic reduction in global meat consumption to stem the climate crisis. Removing meat (and dairy) from plates is “imperative” for survival, according to expert reviewer Dr. Peter Carter. https://plantbasednews.org/news/environment/brits-doubt-human-caused-climate-crisis/
